Its Prime Time For The Business Of Farming In Chautauqua County Evening Observer
Its Prime Time For The Business Of Farming In Chautauqua County Evening Observer
It’s Prime Time For The Business Of Farming In Chautauqua County – Evening Observer https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/its-prime-time-for-the-business-of-farming-in-chautauqua-county-evening-observer/ It’s harvest time, and in Chautauqua County that means you can literally smell the grapes from the vineyards as you drive along Route 20. But it’s more than just grapes that are being harvested right now. Chautauqua County growers have seen a plethora of tomatoes, squash, and other vegetables this year. Late season corn is still available, and pumpkins are everywhere right now. Field crops such as grains and hay are also being harvested. What does all of this have to do with business, you may wonder? Farming is business. It’s big business in Chautauqua County and across New York State. In Chautauqua County alone there are more than 1,500 farms, producing all types of products from milk to poultry to beef to fruits and vegetables. And that doesn’t even count the enormous number of individuals who have their own backyard gardens, raising produce and herbs. Many local farms sell their products to consumers in a variety of ways: farmers markets, direct sales to supermarkets, farm stands, and more. Tons of grapes harvested locally go into local winemaking, but they also go into other grape products, especially juice and jelly. Beverage and food production companies abound in Chautauqua County, featuring everything from craft beers, wines, and spirits to grape pie filling. Our region has not only a strong agricultural economy it also has strong support systems in place for local growers. Cornell Cooperative Extension houses a Community Educator for Dairy/Livestock as well as a Business Management Specialist for Field Crops. There is a whole facility with support staff for research and extension in the Lake Erie Regional Grape Program. This past week, State Senator George Borrello hosted legislators from other parts of New York State in a regional farm tour with focused stops at a variety of agribusiness and research sites in Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties. But you don’t have to have any special title to learn more about agriculture. Cornell Cooperative Extension is holding Visit the Farm Day on Saturday, October 1, at Brehm Farms at 3456 Dry Book Road, Falconer. This event is family friendly and free. It will feature guided walking tours of the farm from 11am-3pm and will include interactive stations where guests can learn about caring for calves, feeding, and housing dairy cows, farm equipment, crops, and more. You can learn more about this event at www.facebook.com/CCEChautauqua. If you’re a home gardener, Cornell Cooperative Extension also has resources for you through the Master Gardener’s program and through its LEAF Workshop series featuring a variety of classes from Basics of Home Food Preservation to Yeast Breads. How Metaverse Could Be A Game Changer For NFT Gaming The Financial Express
How Metaverse Could Be A Game Changer For NFT Gaming The Financial Express
How Metaverse Could Be A Game Changer For NFT Gaming – The Financial Express https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/how-metaverse-could-be-a-game-changer-for-nft-gaming-the-financial-express/ Reportedly, NFT game development for the metaverse has become the talk because it has a lot to offer to the modern-day gamers, developers and industry players By Yash Pariani While most industries suffered a major setback due to the pandemic, the gaming industry was on the opposite side of the spectrum. There was a surge in the number of gamers as gaming was seen as a good way to relieve stress and kill time during the lockdown. The online gaming industry clocked in a revenue of an estimated $21.1 billion in 2020 globally. When compared to the previous year, it accounted for an unprecedented 21.9 per cent surge. As opposed to traditional gaming, which offered limited engagement to gamers, technological innovations have heralded a new era in the gaming world. From metaverse, NFT gaming, AI and virtual world interaction to cloud gaming and VR, you name it, you get it. NFT game development for the metaverse has become the talk of the town these days because it has a lot to offer to the modern-day gamers, developers and industry players. The games built on this technology boast a better gaming experience and are more entertaining. Metaverse and NFT gaming If we visualize the future of NFT game development for the metaverse, there’s certainly no end. NFTs serve as a depiction of in-game virtual goods or items that may be purchased or sold in the real world. As a result, this creates an altogether new market for developers and gamers. Additionally, users could access their chosen blockchain gaming platforms and play games there using NFTs from the metaverse. The cherry on the cake is that players can integrate their in-game awards into the metaverse and spend them however they see fit. Impact of NFT metaverse on future gaming One way that NFTs have altered the gaming business is the possibility of playing to earn. Players that hold NFTs get access to a variety of gaming products and exclusive in-game content. Play-to-earn NFT games are not new to the market; the only difference is that the availability of blockchain technology and the ability to use metaverse tokens for various uses have increased trading volume. Additionally, the metaverse has improved the interaction among gamers by providing them with real-world gaming experiences. It is safe to state that NFTs and the metaverse cover the whole online gaming landscape. Apart from that, NFT and Metaverse in the gaming paradigm are used to identify each player’s unique identity. To enter and navigate the metaverse, NFTs serve as access tokens. This method encourages NFT gaming, which is improved by blockchain gaming. Road Ahead The gaming industry has come a long way from limited player involvement to real-world gaming experience with increased interaction. NFT game development for the metaverse has gained attention since the games based on this technology are more thrilling and captivating. It is harmless to assume that NFTs and the metaverse cover the entire digital landscape of gaming ventures. And if we see the future of metaverse and NFT gaming,  sky’s the limit. Nearly a third of that cryptocurrency was seized in capital Seoul (17.8 billion won), the city of Incheon (close to 5.5 billion won), and the rest in Gyeonggi province (over 53 billion won). The South Korean government authorized the seizure of virtual assets in the second half of 2020. The highest amount of crypto seized from a single individual since then was 12.5 billion won ($8.8 million). The person, a resident of Seoul, failed to pay 1.43 billion won in local taxes and had holdings in 20 digital currencies, including 3.2 billion won in BTC and 1.9 billion won in XRP. This taxpayer opted to cover his obligations and asked to keep the crypto investment. When the Korean tax authority seizes a person’s exchange account or their assets, it sells the coins at the current exchange rate, if the due tax is not paid. The statistical data about the seized crypto has been released after, in early August, the NTS vowed to take strict measures against tax evasion through virtual assets and platforms. Earlier this year, South Korea postponed a 20% tax on crypto-related gains until 2025. The levy, applicable to capital gains exceeding 2.5 million won, was previously supposed to come into force in January, 2023. Johnny Depp And Attorney Joelle Rich Dating During U.S. Heard Trial – TMZ https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/johnny-depp-and-attorney-joelle-rich-dating-during-u-s-heard-trial-tmz/ Johnny Depp Dated Atty. Joelle Rich Through U.S. Heard Trial … But They’re Not Exclusive 9/24/2022 1:00 AM PT Johnny Depp and his former attorney, Joelle Rich, have actually been a thing for longer than we first thought … but there are no plans for the two to settle down as an exclusive couple any time soon. Sources connected to the pair tell us … Johnny and Joelle were very much an item during his nasty trial with Amber Heard back in the summer. In fact, we’re told Joelle left her kids and estranged husband in the UK for 2 months while she was in Virginia supporting Johnny. What’s more, we’re told Joelle had no role in Johnny’s legal defense here in the U.S. … so her appearance in court was strictly for pleasure, no business. TMZ.com One thing our sources are adamant about — Johnny and Joelle are NOT exclusive. In fact, a source connected to Johnny’s new movie tells us he’s recently been spotted on set getting cozy with a new woman while filming over in France. We’re told it’s more Joelle who wants it to be a serious relationship than Johnny — as one source put it, “He’s f*****g Johnny Depp” and he’s not going to settle down with one partner — at least not yet.

Whittier Tech Launches New Marine Technology Pathway | Local News | Newburyportnews.com – The Daily News Of Newburyport https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/whittier-tech-launches-new-marine-technology-pathway-local-news-newburyportnews-com-the-daily-news-of-newburyport/ HAVERHILL — Whittier Tech, which includes students from Greater Newburyport, is expanding its educational offerings with the launch of a marine technology pathway. The new endeavor marks the 23rd career pathway the school offers. The program was approved over the summer by the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Only three other vocational high schools in the state offer a marine technology program and they are on the South Shore and Cape Cod. “We have a real need in the area for marine service between the North Shore, Merrimack Valley, Seacoast and everything in between,” Vocational Coordinator Paul Moskevitz said. “Our instructor, Mike Murray, has worked extremely hard to get the program running. This program brings even more opportunities to Whittier students.” Students in the Class of 2026 will be the first to be able to pursue Whittier Tech’s new program. Currently, 306 ninth-graders are participating in Whittier Tech’s Exploratory Program and will select a trade pathway in January. During the marine technology rotation, students are learning the parts of a boat, the concept of buoyancy, annual boat maintenance and replacing water pumps. “I really like my experience in the Exploratory Program, so far, especially here in marine tech,” said freshman Argelis Vargas of Haverhill. “It’s hands on. I am not stuck in a classroom learning.” Whittier Tech was awarded a $181,778 Skills Capital Grant to fund the new program. With the funding, Whittier purchased a Parker boat, Yamaha WaveRunner and a Sea-Doo GTR for student learning; Yamaha outboards for student training; and a new ventilation system for engine exhaust. Students who choose to pursue the pathway will learn how to operate, maintain, repair, rebuild and install onboard systems, as well as hull maintenance and repair, marine canvas fabrication and repair, gas and diesel engine operation and repair, and welding and precision metal fabrication. They also will earn relevant certification, learn how to operate a boat safely, and obtain their boating license. Students will have the opportunity to earn their captain’s license during their senior year, according to school officials. Whittier Tech has offered marine service technology through its Adult Evening Education Program since summer 2021 with support from the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association and donations from Yamaha. The program has trained three classes of unemployed or underemployed workers for entry-level jobs. All graduates left the program having passed the Yamaha certificate test and earning an introduction to outboard systems certificate. The recreational boating industry in Massachusetts has an economic impact of $4.4 billion and employs more than 20,000 men and women. There is, however, a substantial workforce shortage in the industry, both in Massachusetts and nationwide, according to the National Marine Manufacturers Association. “The marine industry has ample opportunities,” Superintendent Maureen Lynch said. “We hope to connect students to these many well-paying jobs and career opportunities available through our new program. “Expanding this program to daytime students was a collaborative effort by faculty, community partners, and so many more,” she added. “We thank everyone who made the introduction of this new pathway possible.” Dave Rogers is the editor of the Daily News of Newburyport. Belmont County NAACP To Hold Freedom Fund Dinner – Wheeling Intelligencer https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/belmont-county-naacp-to-hold-freedom-fund-dinner-wheeling-intelligencer/ ST. CLAIRSVILLE — The Belmont County NAACP will honor three community members and host a “power couple” of speakers during this year’s Freedom Fund Dinner at 6 p.m. Oct. 1 at Belmont Hills Country Club. The social hour will start at 5 p.m. Jerry Moore II, president of the Belmont County NAACP, said awards will be given to Abbey Maroon, who is expected to attend, and posthumously to the late Dr. John Mattox and the late Penelton “Tobay” Clark. “The only living recipient of our awards this year would be Mr. Abbey Maroon. With us being absent for so long, we felt that we needed to go back and honor some of the people that have been passed by because there was no NAACP,” Moore said, adding the recipients have been outstanding in their respective fields of leadership, dedication, service and loyalty to the community. Mattox, of Flushing, died July 17, 2019, at age 84. He was the curator of the Underground Railroad Museum in Flushing, which he founded it along with his wife, Rosalind, who is also deceased. He was passionate about sharing his love of American history. Clark was the Belmont County NAACP vice president through the 1990s and assisted in ensuring the citizens of Belmont County were treated fairly and strived for equality and social justice. Originally from the Garfield section of Pittsburgh, he moved to Bridgeport after returning from the Korean War. He served as a police officer for the village and would eventually move to Bellaire. Maroon, originally of Bridgeport and now a St. Clairsville resident, has six decades of experience in business development, management and entertainment operations. In addition, Maroon is a philanthropist who often donates food from his restaurant to local organizations, clothing to families in need and monetary donations to organizations helping people all around the world. He served in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves for eight years. Moore said the NAACP is also honored to have Clement A. Akassi, a professor at Howard University in Washington, D.C., and Monique L. Akassi, the DEI Director and Strategies Coordinator at West Liberty University, as guest speakers. “We’re having two dynamic speakers that are a power couple, and this is the first time I’ve ever seen anything like this done, where a husband and wife have been so educated, so exemplary and outstanding accomplishments, and they’re willing to speak at the same time,” Moore said, adding both are world-renowned speakers who have taught classes abroad in places such as Spain and Brazil. Moore said the NAACP has been active and there are many plans for the future. “We have a lot of things coming up on the horizon in the future,” he said. At 6 p.m. Oct. 6, the NACCP will host a Meet the Candidates event at the J.B. Martin Rec Center in St. Clairsville, with all area candidates invited. “We have several other events coming in the near future. A couple to try to bring the community together and stress community unity,” he said. “We welcome everybody.” Today’s breaking news and more in your inbox

Containerised Bulk Shipment Of Cocoa Freight Charges Increased Ghana Business News
Containerised Bulk Shipment Of Cocoa Freight Charges Increased Ghana Business News
‘Containerised’, Bulk Shipment Of Cocoa Freight Charges Increased – Ghana Business News https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/containerised-bulk-shipment-of-cocoa-freight-charges-increased-ghana-business-news/ Freight charges for transporting cocoa from Ghana to all international destinations, except for the United Kingdom, have been increased by five per cent. Similarly, mega bulk shipments have been increased by 10 per cent for the 2022/2023 cocoa season as agreed by the Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC), Ghana Shippers Authority and 18 shipping lines. Per the agreement, the rate as calculated per tonne meant cocoa currently stands at £31.50 to the United Kingdom (UK) for both bagged and bulk, while bagged and bulk cocoa shipped to the Northern Continent stands at €54.02 for bagged and €56.60 for bulk. For Estonia, it is €61.74 for bagged and €64.70 for bulk; Mediterranean Europe €60.64 for bagged and €63.53, for bulk; Far East, $100.44/106.09 for bagged and to Brazil $116.24 for bagged and $121.78 for bulk. Subsequently, Bunker (Fuel) Adjustment Factor (BAF) to all destinations apart from UK has been increased by two percentage points from 28 – 30 per cent. Those were the agreements reached after a meeting at this year’s Cocoa Freight Negotiation Conference held at the Hilton Sorrento Palace, Sorrento, Italy on Tuesday, September 20, 2022. Global developments in the shipping market, including increasing charter rates, container shortage and rising bunker prices accounted for the new upward rates in freight charges. Again, the need to keep a competitive freight rate for Ghana’s cocoa, especially in the light of competition from neighbouring countries was considered in the decision making. Commenting on the recent charges, Mr Vincent Okyere Akomeah, the Managing Director of CM, said he was confident that the agreed rates would be “a win-win for the Government and the shipping lines.” Mr Akomeah was hopeful of a good cocoa year with the help of key stakeholders such as the Ghana Standard Authority, the shipping lines, buyers and insurers. Ms Benonita Bismarck, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers Authority, expressed appreciation to the shipping lines for their support and cooperation. She also thanked them for keeping faith with Ghana, promoting trade and serving as trusted conduits between CMC and the buyers for the international transportation of Ghana’s cocoa. Shipping lines present at the conference included Maersk Line, Mediterranean Shipping Company, ZIM Integrated Shipping Services Ltd, Grimaldi, COSCO Shipping Lines, Messina Lines, Ocean Network, CMA-CGM and Arkas. World Heart Day 2022 Date, History & Theme: What Is The Significance Of The Day Raising Awareness About – LatestLY https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/world-heart-day-2022-date-history-theme-what-is-the-significance-of-the-day-raising-awareness-about-latestly/ More than 17 million individuals lose their lives to heart disease each year. The World Heart Federation established World Heart Day as a means of combating this on the September 29 of each year. Events are held all across the world to educate people about cardiovascular disease (CVD) and its warning signs, prevention methods, and how to assist those who may be affected. More than 17 million individuals lose their lives to heart disease each year. The World Heart Federation established World Heart Day as a means of combating this on September 29 of each year. Events are held all across the world to educate people about cardiovascular disease (CVD) and its warning signs, prevention methods, and how to assist those who may be affected. So, on September 29, participate in a World Heart Day event near you to battle CVD. Globally, cardiovascular diseases (CVD) constitute the leading cause of death. An estimated 17 million people per year pass away from CVD. The two main causes of these deaths were coronary heart disease and strokes. Many individuals have the impression that CVD affects more people in industrialised nations because they rely more heavily on technology and lead sedentary lifestyles. But middle-income and low-income nations account for more than 80% of all fatalities. Fortunately, the primary contributors to cardiovascular diseases—such as inactivity, smoking, and a poor diet—can be tackled to prevent a fatality. World Heart Day 2022 Date & History The World Heart Federation established World Heart Day, which is observed annually on September 29. Its goal was to raise awareness of cardiovascular illness among all individuals (CVD). Through this worldwide initiative, the federation hopes to inspire and catalyse international action to promote heart-healthy living while also uniting individuals in the fight against the burden of CVD. World Heart Day is marked and commemorated with the goal of raising awareness of cardiovascular diseases and ways to prevent them to lessen their impact on people worldwide. The World Heart Federation and the World Health Organization collaborated to create the international holiday. Antoni Bayés de Luna, who served as the World Heart Federation’s president from 1997 to 1999, had come up with this concept. World Heart Day was originally celebrated on September 24, 2000, and up until 2011, it was marked as the final Sunday in September. What is the Purpose of World Heart Day? The primary goal of this day is to increase public knowledge of cardiovascular disease, how to prevent it, and the effects it has on individuals all over the world. Annual mortality from CVD, which includes heart disease and stroke, is 17.9 million because of this, the day emphasises the steps that people may take to avoid and manage CVD. Every year, more than 90 nations participate in this global holiday. World Heart Day has thus shown to be a successful method for spreading knowledge about CVD. The importance of government and organisation involvement is especially crucial for developing nations because they are severely affected by these diseases. Nicholas L. Akerill, pleaded guilty Sept. 14 in Clark County District Court to a motor vehicle emission control systems violation, court records show. In May 2021, Akerill, along with the owners of RPM Northwest, Sean and Tracy Coiteux, were indicted in U.S. District Court in Tacoma on one count of conspiracy to violate the Clean Air Act and 11 counts of violating the Clean Air Act. The federal case is pending. The indictment states the owners and manager conspired to remove federally mandated emissions monitoring devices from diesel trucks, causing the trucks to pollute the air at rates far in excess of federal limits. They modified hundreds of trucks over a three-year period and earned hundreds of thousands of dollars for the work, according to the indictment. When federal agents served a search warrant at the Ridgefield shop, they found that between January 2018 and January 2021, it had illegally modified emissions monitoring systems on 375 diesel trucks; it was paid $536,000 for the work, according to a probable cause affidavit filed in Akerill’s local case. The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency regulates the amount of pollutants vehicles can emit under the Clean Air Act. Diesel exhaust is one of the largest sources of particulate matter and other pollutants, the indictment states. The modification work is marketed toward truck owners to improve horsepower, torque and other characteristics of a diesel engine. EPA studies found a diesel truck that receives this modification can produce the pollutants of 30 to 300 similar compliant trucks, according to the indictment. To conceal the removal of the emissions monitoring systems, employees at RPM Northwest referred to the work on invoices as an upgrade. Akerill used tuning software on his cellphone and reprogrammed the trucks’ on-board diagnostics, the affidavit states. The owners and manager also agreed they would not discuss the work over the phone or advertise the service, and they would discourage customers from discussing on social media that RPM Northwest performed those services, according to court records. Washington Attorney General Bob Ferguson said on Twitter that Akerill’s guilty plea was one of three convictions in cases against people and companies who intentionally removed emissions control systems from diesel trucks. “Our goal: shut down this illegal practice that pollutes our air,” Ferguson said on Twitter.

The Best Travel Rewards Credit Cards For You – Kiplinger’s Personal Finance https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/the-best-travel-rewards-credit-cards-for-you-kiplingers-personal-finance/ Whether you travel often or just take the occasional vacation, a travel rewards credit card can be an excellent companion. With every purchase, you can use a good travel card to collect points or miles that are redeemable for flights, hotels or other travel bookings. And many travel cards come with extra benefits, too, from free entry into airport lounges to statement credits toward application fees for TSA PreCheck and other programs that expedite security screening at the airport.  Take a look at our picks of the best travel rewards credit cards. If you’d rather have a card that offers cash-back rewards, see The Best Cash-Back Credit Cards.  For each card (except premium travel cards), we’ve calculated a typical annual rebate based on spending patterns in the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Expenditure Survey and assuming $25,000 spent on the card annually. For cards that do not waive their annual fee the first year, we’ve subtracted the annual fee from the cash value of the annual rebate. Except where noted, these cards don’t charge a foreign-transaction fee. Best Travel Rewards Credit Cards: No Annual Fee With these cards, reap points or miles without paying an annual fee.  Chase Freedom Unlimited Visa Website: www.chase.com  Interest rate: 0% for 15 months, then 17.24% to 25.99% Annual fee: None Sign-up bonus: $200 back if you spend $500 in the first three months; 5% back on gas station purchases for the first $6,000 spent in the first year Typical annual rebate: 45,277 points, worth $453 Chase Freedom Unlimited is a compelling no-fee option for domestic travelers who are willing to book trips through Chase’s Ultimate Rewards program. Redeem points at a rate of a penny each for cash back, gift cards or travel. The card charges a 3% fee on foreign transactions, so for trips abroad, look to our other winners that charge no such fee. A couple of other perks: You earn 5% cash back on Lyft rides through March 2025, and you get three months of free membership to DashPass (regularly $10 a month), which waives the delivery fee and reduces service fees on eligible orders through food-delivery service DoorDash. You can use points at a rate of a penny apiece for statement credits to offset travel and dining purchases. If you redeem points for a check or deposit into an eligible Bank of America or Merrill account, they are worth 0.6 cent each. Pujols connected his second home run of the game, a three-run drive against Los Angeles Dodgers reliever Phil Bickford in the fourth inning. The ball landed in the first few rows of the left-field pavilion, the same location homer No. 699 — a two-run shot — landed in the third inning off left-hander Andrew Heaney. Pujols has driven in all five of the Cardinals runs and they lead the Dodgers 5-0. Roger Federer retires after teaming with Nadal in last match LONDON (AP) — Roger Federer has ended his superlative professional tennis career at age 41 with a loss in doubles alongside longtime rival Rafael Nadal at the Laver Cup. Federer and Nadal paired up for Team Europe and were beaten by Frances Tiafoe and Jack Sock of Team World 4-6, 7-6 (2), 11-9 in London on Friday night. Federer is a 20-time Grand Slam champion who announced last week that this team event founded by his management company would be his final event before retirement. Then he made clear that Friday’s doubles outing would be his last match. He had not competed anywhere since a quarterfinal loss at Wimbledon in July 2021. Shortly after that, the Swiss star had a third operation on his right knee. Celtics: Udoka suspended for ‘multiple’ policy violations BOSTON (AP) — The Boston Celtics suspended coach Ime Udoka for the upcoming season after a months-long investigation by an external law firm that found multiple violations of team policies. That’s according to team owner Wyc Grousbeck. Grousbeck would not comment on specifics. A person with knowledge of the matter, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the details were not made public, told The Associated Press on Thursday that it involved an inappropriate relationship with a woman in the organization. Grousbeck said no one else from the organization is facing punishment. He would not say whether the suspension was unpaid but confirmed that it comes with a “significant financial penalty.” Judge stuck at 60 home runs, Yankees beat Red Sox 5-4 NEW YORK (AP) — Aaron Judge was held without a homer for the third straight game, keeping him at 60 for the season and one shy of Roger Maris’ American League record, and the New York Yankees beat the Boston Red Sox 5-4. Jose Trevino singled home the tiebreaking run with two outs in the eighth inning, and the first-place Yankees reduced their magic number to five for clinching the AL East title. With four of Maris’ children in the ballpark again, Judge went 1 for 4 with a sharp single. He struck out twice and lofted a high fly to left field that excited the sellout crowd of 47,346 for a second or two. The slugger has two games left to match Maris on New York’s current homestand. Lackluster US loses to Japan 2-0 in World Cup warmup Daichi Kamada scored following Weston McKennie’s giveaway in the 24th minute, Kaoru Mitoma added a goal in the 88th and Japan beat an lackluster and injury-depleted United States 2-0 in the Americans’ next-to-last World Cup warmup. U.S. star Christian Pulisic did not dress because of an unspecified injury. The 14th-ranked Americans already were without Tim Weah, Yunus Musah, Chris Richards, Antonee Robinson and Zack Steffen, and Miles Robinson will miss the World Cup. The Americans failed to get a single shot on goal. They have one win, five losses and four draws in their last 10 road games. The game was in Düsseldorf, Germany. Homa’s heroics turn close day into US rout in Presidents Cup CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) — The matches were close at the end. The outcome was not. Max Homa delivered two late birdies for another U.S. win. The Americans won another session at the Presidents Cup by a 4-1 margin. That makes the lead 8-2 going into the weekend. And it makes another U.S. victory in these one-sided matches start to look inevitable. Former Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush were on hand for the action. The lone International point came from two ties. It’s the second time on American soil they have a mathematical chance to end it on Saturday. Analysis: ‘No lead is safe’ more than a cliche this season “No lead is safe in the NFL” is more than a cliche this season. Three teams overcame fourth-quarter deficits of at least 13 points to win last week for the first time in 30 years. The Arizona Cardinals and Miami Dolphins made history by both rallying from 20-point halftime deficits to win on the same day for the first time. Big comebacks and close finishes have become a trend. Already, 12 games were decided by three points or fewer, most through the first two weeks. Eight teams have overcome a deficit of at least 10 points to win or tie. Tom Brady’s TB12 Method is in schools. Experts have doubts. Students in some Tampa Bay-area schools are using foam rollers and vibrating spheres to massage their muscles. It’s all part of a new physical education curriculum from quarterback Tom Brady, whose vision for healthy living is fueling a fitness empire. The arrangement with schools in Pinellas County, Florida, marks a foray into education for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers superstar and his methods — including some that have been criticized as pseudoscience. If all goes well in Pinellas County, Brady’s foundation is looking to use the program as a model for other school districts. Mariners rookie OF Rodriguez on 10-day IL with back strain KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — Seattle Mariners outfielder Julio Rodriguez, a leading candidate for the AL Rookie of the Year award, has been put on the 10-day injured list because of a lower back strain. The move came with Seattle holding the third and final wild-card spot, a half-game behind Tampa Bay and four games ahead of Baltimore. Outfielder Taylor Trammell was recalled from Triple-A Tacoma. Rodriguez left Thursday’s win at Oakland in the first inning after experiencing back tightness. The 21-year-old leads rookies with 27 home runs. He’s second with 73 RBIs and 25 stolen bases. Rodriguez was replaced in center field by Jarred Kelenic for Seattle’s game at Kansas City. Third baseman J.P. Crawford took Rodriguez’s accustomed leadoff spot in the batting order. Games involving Judge, Pujols only available on Apple TV+ LOS ANGELES (AP) — Fans looking to watch Aaron Judge’s pursuit of the AL home run record or Albert Pujols chase 700 homers live Friday night will need to do it via streaming. Apple TV+ has exclusive coverage of both games as part of its “Friday Night Baseball” package. The games were selected and announced in early August. When games air nationally, it also means other networks can’t do live cut-ins. ESPN and MLB Network did that earlier when games were only available on the team’s regional networks. Fans can access both games Friday night on Apple TV+ for free and without the need for a subscription. Copyright 2022 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Cardinals Legend Albert Pujols Reaches 700 Career Home Runs With Two-HR Night Vs. Dodgers – CBS Sports https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/cardinals-legend-albert-pujols-reaches-700-career-home-runs-with-two-hr-night-vs-dodgers-cbs-sports/ Getty Images St. Louis Cardinals legend Albert Pujols became the fourth player in Major League Baseball history to reach 700 career home runs on Friday night with a two-homer effort against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Pujols joins distinct company in the form of some of the most prolific sluggers the game has ever seen: Barry Bonds, Hank Aaron and Babe Ruth.  Pujols first clubbed career home run 699 in the third inning: Then, in the fourth, Pujols connected with No. 700. Pujols entered the season with the Cardinals knowing it was his last. He’s never strayed from his declaration that he was playing in 2022 and not a single year longer, despite the possibility that he could get so close to 700 and still fall short. It’s actually somewhat a surprise that he’s gotten to this point. It took a second-half surge.  Pujols had just six home runs in the first half. He now has 16 since the All-Star break. In the process, he surpassed Alex Rodriguez — who has 696 career home runs — for fourth on the all-time list. Getting to 700 doesn’t move Pujols on the career leaderboard; it’s just a nice-round number. We celebrate things like 500 home runs, 3,000 hits, 3,000 strikeouts and the like, so being the fourth person to 700 home runs is a pretty significant accomplishment.

Whats Hot In The Metaverse For Consumers MarTech
What’s Hot In The Metaverse For Consumers – MarTech https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/whats-hot-in-the-metaverse-for-consumers-martech/ Consumers engaging with metaverse-style virtual environments are interested in a number of industries and activities. Topping the list of interests is music, according to a new study by Reach 3 Insights, which polled 401 consumers over the summer. The findings explain some of the live events and tie-ins that brands are launching in the metaverse, on platforms like Decentraland and Roblox. For marketers still in the wait-and-see or planning phases of their metaverse debut, this might help focus the effort based on where the interest is. Earlier this year, our own MarTech survey found that over half of marketers are planning a metaverse activation either in the upcoming year (25.8%) or in the next five years (25.4%). Dig deeper: How brands are joining the metaverse Get MarTech! Daily. Free. In your inbox. Hot metaverse topics. Consumers were asked what topics they would be interested in related to virtual experiences or products. Here are the topics, in descending order: Music, 68% Travel/ tourism, 58% Shopping/virtual stores, 53% Live events, 53% Gaming, 52% Training/learning, 52% Social/virtual get-togethers, 51% Food, 42% Health, 41% Tech, 35% Fashion, 29% Beauty, 27% Beverages, 20% Something else, 3% The high interest in music explains why iHeartMedia recently launched a hub in the popular 3D game Fortnite. And the interest in gaming shows some crossover appeal with game audiences who are early adopters of metaverse experiences. Dig Deeper: How the gaming universe is preparing marketers for the metaverse Age demographics. The survey was distributed relatively evenly across Gen Z (88 participants), Millennials (101), Gen X (136) and Boomers (76). Older participants raised the average for interest in travel, with only 48% of Gen Z, and 50% of Millennials, interested in that topic. Younger participants were more interested in beauty and fashion, with Gen Z at 43% and 44% interested in those topics, respectively. Clearly, younger consumers are interested in metaverse activations related to fashion and beauty. Under Armour’s ongoing Curry Brand activations demonstrate deep engagement and sales potential on the metaverse. (They sold thousands of $333 NFT virtual wearables in minutes.) Why we care. If your brand is lower on the list of hot topics, think of how you can tie your brand to an interest higher up. Take beverages (20%), for instance. PepsiCo has spent over a decade carving out a space in the gaming community, so they’re poised to attract users in the metaverse. And from the Under Armour playbook, star power can also draw their audience to your brand in the metaverse. Just as in the real world, all kinds of categories sponsor live music events, we expect a similar force at play with virtual concerts celebrity meet-and-greets. Cardano (ADA) Remains In Green As Market Keeps On Bleeding Heres Why: Crypto Market Review September 23 U.Today
Cardano (ADA) Remains In Green As Market Keeps On Bleeding, Here’s Why: Crypto Market Review, September 23 – U.Today https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/cardano-ada-remains-in-green-as-market-keeps-on-bleeding-heres-why-crypto-market-review-september-23-u-today/ Arman Shirinyan Cryptocurrency market is still in red while Cardano is showing some exceptional performance Disclaimer: The opinion expressed here is not investment advice – it is provided for informational purposes only. It does not necessarily reflect the opinion of U.Today. Every investment and all trading involves risk, so you should always perform your own research prior to making decisions. We do not recommend investing money you cannot afford to lose. Despite the mild recovery we saw on the cryptocurrency market only a day ago, most digital assets remain in the red. Bitcoin has lost 14% of its value during one week of trading, which, however, is not a number that experienced crypto traders are afraid of. Cardano gains traction against Bitcoin The price performance of one of the most notable assets on the market against Bitcoin has been more than successful in the last few weeks and even months. The main reason behind it is the upcoming Vasil hard fork and the questionable future of Ethereum that switched off the PoW mechanism for good. Source: TradingView From a technical standpoint, Cardano is also showing a prominent price performance, gaining over 8% to its value in the last seven days. At press time, it is breaking the upper border of the ascending triangle for the third time this month. The breakthrough is an important step toward the trend reversal on ADA. The cryptocurrency lost over 60% of its value since the ATH and has not had a chance to recover, especially with the market conditions we have lived through in the last few months. Cardano also shows that it is not only rallying against Bitcoin but is also showing a better-than-average performance against the United States Dollar despite its strengthening against a bracket of foreign currencies. Regulators create toxic environment around Ether Another important factor is regular lack of clarity around Ethereum, which became extremely similar to a security, which is why regulations may affect its investors and cause numerous problems for projects that are willing to start working on the network. If new regulatory policies are released for Ethereum, the asset’s value may start tumbling rapidly, specifically because of the lack of network usage we are seeing now, considering the poor performance of the DeFi and NFT industries. Unless building on the network becomes popular again, both the profitability and revenue of Ethereum stays at an extremely low level, which is why the selling pressure on it increased exponentially in the last few days despite the Merge update. Bitcoin waits for monetary policy easing Despite the relief on the cryptocurrency market, Bitcoin is still in the process of moving through correction cycles after yet another rate hike initiated at the FOMC meeting on Sept. 21. Unfortunately, the uncontrollable inflation shows us that the regulator is still going to increase the key rate in the country despite the critical conditions on the stock market, which, as we know, dictates the movement of digital assets. At press time, Bitcoin is changing hands at $18,900 and still moving around this year’s bottom. Yet another breakdown would send the first cryptocurrency to the next support level at approximately $16,000.

U.S. Sending dangerous Signals On Taiwan China Tells Blinken Reuters
U.S. Sending dangerous Signals On Taiwan China Tells Blinken Reuters
U.S. Sending ‘dangerous Signals’ On Taiwan, China Tells Blinken – Reuters https://clarkcountynewsnow.com/u-s-sending-dangerous-signals-on-taiwan-china-tells-blinken-reuters/ NEW YORK, Sept 23 (Reuters) – China has accused the United States of sending “very wrong, dangerous signals” on Taiwan after the U.S. secretary of state told his Chinese counterpart on Friday that the maintenance of peace and stability over Taiwan was vitally important. Taiwan was the focus of the 90-minute, “direct and honest” talks between Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi on the margins of the U.N. General Assembly in New York, a U.S official told reporters. “For our part, the secretary made crystal clear that, in accordance with our long-standing one-China policy, which again has not changed, the maintenance of peace and stability across the Strait is absolutely, vitally important,” the senior U.S. administration official said. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com China’s foreign ministry, in a statement on the meeting, said the United States was sending “very wrong, dangerous signals” on Taiwan, and the more rampant Taiwan’s independence activity, the less likely there would be a peaceful settlement. “The Taiwan issue is an internal Chinese matter, and the United States has no right to interfere in what method will be used to resolve it,” the ministry cited Wang as saying. Tensions over Taiwan have soared after a visit there in August by U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi – which was followed by large-scale Chinese military drills – as well as a pledge by U.S. President Joe Biden to defend the democratically governed island. Biden’s statement was his most explicit to date about committing U.S. troops to the defend the island. It was also the latest instance of his appearing to go beyond a long-standing U.S. policy of “strategic ambiguity,” which does not make it clear whether the United States would respond militarily to an attack on Taiwan. read more The White House has insisted its Taiwan policy has not changed, but China said Biden’s remarks sent the wrong signal to those seeking an independent Taiwan. read more In a phone call with Biden in July, Chinese leader Xi Jinping warned about Taiwan, saying “those who play with fire will perish by it.” China sees Taiwan as one of its provinces and has long vowed to bring the island under its control and has not ruled out the use of force to do so. Taiwan’s government strongly objects to China’s sovereignty claims and says only the island’s 23 million people can decide its future. Taiwan’s foreign ministry, responding to the meeting between Blinken and Wang, said China’s “recent provocative actions” had made the Taiwan Strait a focus of discussion, and China was trying to “confuse the international audience with arguments and criticisms that contradict reality.” The State Department had said earlier that Blinken’s meeting with Wang was part of a U.S. effort to “maintain open lines of communication and manage competition responsibly,” and the senior official said Blinken had reiterated U.S. openness to “cooperating with China on matters of global concern.” Blinken also “highlighted the implications” if China were to provide material support to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine or engage in wholesale sanctions evasion, the official added. U.S. officials have in the past said they had seen no evidence of China providing such support. Blinken “underscored that the United States and China and the international community have an obligation to work to counter the effects of that invasion and also to deter Russia from taking further provocative actions,” the official said. ‘DEVASTATE OUR BILATERAL TIES’ Blinken’s meeting with Wang was preceded by one between the foreign ministers of the Quad grouping of Australia, India, Japan and the United States, which issued a statement, referring to the Indo-Pacific, saying that “we strongly oppose any unilateral actions that seek to change the status quo or increase tensions in the region.” Since Pelosi’s visit “China has taken a number of provocative steps that have by design acted to change the status quo”, the U.S. official said. U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris will discuss Taiwan security during bilateral meetings with the leaders of U.S. allies Japan and South Korea when she visits them next week, another U.S. official said. read more Daniel Russel, the top U.S. diplomat for Asia under President Barack Obama, said the fact Blinken and Wang had met was important after the turbulence brought by Pelosi’s visit, and hopefully some progress would have been made towards arranging a meeting between Xi and Biden on the sidelines of a G-20 meeting in November, which would be their first in-person as leaders. “Wang and Blinken’s decision to meet in New York does not guarantee the November summit will go smoothly or that it will even occur. But had they been unable to meet, it would have meant the prospects for a summit in November were poor,” said Russel, now with the Asia Society. In a speech to the Asia Society in New York on Thursday, Wang said the Taiwan question was growing into the biggest risk in China-U.S. relations. “Should it be mishandled, it is most likely to devastate our bilateral ties,” Wang said, according to a transcript from the Chinese embassy. Likewise, the decades-old U.S. law outlining Washington’s unofficial relations with Taiwan – which Beijing considers null – makes clear that Washington’s decision to establish diplomatic relations with China in 1979 “rests upon the expectation that the future of Taiwan will be determined by peaceful means.” Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Reporting by Humeyra Pamuk, David Brunnstrom, Michael Martina and Simon Lewis; Additionl reporting by Ben Blanchard in Taipei; Editing by Mary Milliken, Jonathan Oatis and Sandra Maler Our Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.
