CourseSource
We publish articles that are organized around courses in both biological and physics disciplines, and aligned with learning goals established by professional societies representing those disciplines. CourseSource provides authors with the opportunity to publish teaching materials in a high-quality format that documents their scholarly teaching efforts, accomplishments and innovations. To our knowledge, CourseSource is the only online journal that exclusively publishes teaching materials that: Incorporate student-centered, evidence-based pedagogy. Focus on professional society-developed learning goals and objectives. Are organized and formatted to enable replicability and adaptation for other classrooms. Do not require data supporting the efficacy of the specific materials themselves, since they are based on evidence-based practices that are fully supported by research. CourseSource is an open-access journal, which means that all content is freely available without charge to the user or their institution. Users are allowed to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search, or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without asking prior permission from the publisher or the author. Authors retain copyright to their materials, through a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0 International License.

Critical AI — Cybernetic Forests.
Critical AI — Cybernetic Forests.
by Eryk Salvaggio Critical Topics: AI Images was an undergraduate class delivered for Bradley University in Spring 2023. It was an overview of the emerging contexts of AI art making tools that connected media studies and histories of new media art, with data ethics and critical data studies. Through this multidisciplinary lens, we examined current events and debates in AI and generative art, with students thinking critically about these tools as they learned to use them. They were encouraged to make work that reflected the context and longer history of these tools. As a final project, students collected 500-1000 of their own images, cleaning them to create a unique, personalized dataset. Then, using RunwayML, they extended StyleGAN2’s training data with their datasets to create a custom generative model. Along the way, we discussed the politics of image assembly and archives, the human labor of datasets and content moderation, and more. The course included interviews with AI artists from a variety of perspectives. Students responded to each with short essays highlighting the diversity of thoughts and opinions about what AI art means, how it is made, and the ethics that surround it. This website collects all of the asynchronous video lectures, alongside works referenced in the lectures. Guest lectures and artist talks are also archived, with permission.

Midjourney at the College Level: Visual Representations Created by Artificial Intelligence - Eductive
Do you know Midjourney? This tool uses artificial intelligence (AI) to create images from the user’s written prompts. Since I discovered Midjourney, I have fallen into an abyss: I am constantly exploring the tool and playing with its different possibilities. I have been thinking about the various ways it could be used at the college level.

Introduction to Cultural Analytics & Python — Introduction to Cultural Analytics & Python
Introduction to Cultural Analytics & Python — Introduction to Cultural Analytics & Python
The Introduction to Cultural Analytics & Python textbook offers an introduction to the programming language Python that is specifically designed for humanities students and scholars with no previous programming experience. It demonstrates how Python can be used to study cultural materials such as song lyrics, short stories, newspaper articles, tweets, Reddit posts, and film screenplays. It introduces computational methods such as web scraping, APIs, topic modeling, Named Entity Recognition (NER), network analysis, and mapping. Interactive Code Most of the pages in the book are Jupyter notebook files that can be downloaded and run with Jupyter. Click the download button at the top of the page to download the .ipynb file. The Jupyter notebooks can also be opened and run in the cloud without any prior configuration by clicking the launch button . See How To Interact With This Book for more information.

Signals - Stoplights for student success
Signals - Stoplights for student success
Across campus, the success of every Purdue University student is a common goal shared by each instructor, advisor and staff member. In order to increase student success in the classroom, Purdue University’s Signals project detects early warning signs and provides intervention to students who may not be performing to the best of their abilities before they reach a critical point. To identify students at risk academically, Signals combines predictive modeling with data-mining from Blackboard Vista. Each student is assigned a "risk group" determined by a predictive student success algorithm. One of three stoplight ratings, which correspond to the risk group, can be released on students' Blackboard homepage.

The Periodic Table of Videos - University of Nottingham
The Periodic Table of Videos - University of Nottingham
Tables charting the chemical elements have been around since the 19th century - but this modern version has a short video about each one. We've done all 118 - but our job's not finished. Now we're updating all the videos with new stories, better samples and bigger experiments. Plus we're making films about other areas of chemistry, latest news and occasional adventures away from the lab.

Self-grading multiple-choice tests with Google Docs
Self-grading multiple-choice tests with Google Docs
I don’t have much love for multiple-choice tests — either for administering them or for taking them — but as a teacher, the format was sometimes required by my administration, and was sometimes useful for simple prove-that-you-read-it quizzes. Google Docs didn’t help me love them, but it did help me never grade them.

Teaching Copyright
Teaching Copyright
Rather than presenting unbiased facts and encouraging inquiry, the materials focused on drilling students on the prohibitions of copyright. As avid users of technology ourselves, we could not stand by and let this educational opportunity become an excuse to scare young people away from making full and fair use of the digital technologies that will continue to affect virtually every aspect of their lives. We decided to fill in the gap by developing an honest, accurate, and balanced curriculum that would help students understand and exercise their digital rights and responsibilities. Working with educators from around the country, we aimed to design a fun and flexible plan that would not just provide information, but also help foster basic skills in research, writing, and critical thinking. We're proud of the result. The Teaching Copyright curriculum is a detailed, customizable learning plan to help educators raise interesting questions about copyright, technology, and law

Wikipedia:School and university projects - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Everyone is welcome here. If you're a professor, teacher, or student within the college community, we encourage you to use Wikipedia and/or Wikiversity in your class to demonstrate how an open content website works (or doesn't). Many of these projects have resulted in both advancing the student's knowledge and useful content being added to Wikipedia. An advantage of this over regular homework is that the student is dealing with a real world situation, which is not only more educational but also makes it more interesting ("the world gets to see my work"), probably resulting in increased dedication. Besides, it will give the students a chance to collaborate on course notes and papers, and their effort might remain online for reference, instead of being discarded and forgotten as is usual with paper coursework, or classroom systems which are routinely reinitialized.
