The Henricus » 3 Degrees of Wikipedia
Recently, I discovered a new app for my iPhone, 3 Degrees of Wikipedia. It’s a neat little game, and for .99, you get a lot out of it. However, I was also thinking about how it can be used as a teaching tool. For example, how can you get Frederick Douglass at the Battle of Ft. Sumter? First, have students go to the Douglass page and then guess which of the links takes them to a page that will get them to the Battle of Ft. Sumter. Each wiki article has dozens of hyperlinks, so this could take a while. In this case (spoiler alert), it’s pretty easy. In his introductory section is a link to the Civil War, which has a link to the Battle of Ft. Sumter. Done.
