This video was written and produced while traveling through Chile & Patagonia with my girlfriend. We spent 5 weeks exploring this amazing country, and this is how we chose to document it. Thanks so much for checking it out.

Surreal and Kind of Cute. | neopessimist23
My initial idea was to place a cat in some wintry ukiyo-e, but I was unsuccessful in finding any that are usable. I abandoned the idea and turned towards western art. Dali was an easier piece to work on, because of the surreal nature it had. Placing a ginormous cat in the scenery would look just fine. Personally, I think at least half of the burden was on researching images for the process. I love cats (or most smaller mammals) and lived near them all my life, despite the allergy I supposedly have. If you got interested, try this assignment and join the Fat Cat craze!

TDC #37 challenged us "To take a photograph of a toy in action". To create this photo I took a video with the "Farkle" game container and two sixes positioned. I then threw other dice into the frame while recording. To freeze the action, I used VLC Media Player to review the video, select a frame, and to produce this snapshot. It's a good day when you learn something new.

Iconic Me | Paris, Tokyo
The assignment was to create an image of something that represents me. I am definitely a book worm, so I chose glasses as my icon. I used an icon from NounProject and Microsoft Word. I pasted the image into a Word document and used the text overlap option. I typed words like “books” and “literature” over the image until the words created the image.

The reality TV assignment looked like a ton of fun so I decided to take a shot. I was both very excited and very worried when I went to the Reality TV show generator and got the title “That’s My Nude.” Sounds like a porno or something was my first thought but then I was like if the Jersey Shore is a thing then some smutty show with nudity can probably be put on the air. The two descriptions I got for the show did not match that idea though. The 5th search result was to a yahoo answer asking for help and said “My boyfriend wants me nude every-time? Like? Read Description and help?”

It's hard to believe that I've had this tattoo for almost twenty years. I don't often think about it (or even notice it). At the time I was still studying chemistry while also pursuing the arts. I discovered this image in a yoga book in the stacks of my college library and it reminded me of a particular axiom in chemistry. "Only two electrons can occupy an orbital." A couple of summers ago I wrote about this little book of yoga images and chemistry axioms, trying to make sense of it. Not exactly sure if it successfully clarifies the meaning of my tattoo, but I'm still happy i have it many years later.

Metaphors & Schemas in Design – philosophe
Metaphors & Schemas in Design – philosophe
At its most basic level, a metaphor describes the use of a body of knowledge about one concept to understand or comment on a second concept. Metaphors are especially powerful when used to help understand a concept that is unfamiliar or unapproachable. The classic example of this use of metaphor is the attempt to understand death and dying: religious dogma aside, no definitive explanation of what happens to a person’s consciousness (soul, karma, whatever) after death has been established. Certainly on an immediate level, most people aren’t clear on this milestone, but most people do have a personal concept of what generally happens at death, and this concept is usually based on metaphor.

Let's Talk Type- Part 1 Font Families
Typography is the art of combining letterforms (fonts) on a page to effectively convey the authors content and message to the reader. Good typography provides visual punctuation and accents that help the reader to understand all of the relationships on the page, both verbal and visual. There are thousands of fonts available to the digital scrapbooker. The ones you choose to use on your layout for the title and journaling have an impact on the mood and message that it confers to the reader. In order to understand how to effectively use fonts both emotionally and graphically, you need to understand the characteristics of the fonts themselves. There are 6 main categories of fonts and each has its own style and uses.
