For this assignment, my friend used a multi-burst setting on her camera as I spilled my drink out onto the ground. With this, the camera creates multiple photos in a row. Then with the series of photos, I was able to great this gif that looks like a movie clip. As I created the gif, I also decided it to loop backwards to look like I was continuously pouring the drink out of my cup.

Black out sections of a newspaper to create a new story, poem, picture, etc. Didn’t have a newspaper on hand, I but wanted to give this a shot and did have a super old book of not enjoyable to read poetry (Robert Browning, ugh) which I had no qualms about writing all over. Lines done with a ruler and an ink pen. I like these better as design than as poetry; it’s kind of difficult for me to feel as if the words are fully my own, but they were still fun to play with.

The Cool Hunter - The Power of Color
The Cool Hunter - The Power of Color
Black and white are the safe choices in the design world. The color of luxury is elegant and subdued. Yet, at the same time, even top-tier designers, artists and luxury brands have always used bright colors as well. It is not about either or. It is not black-and-white or color.

Before solving complex design problems you need to understand the basic components of design at your disposal. How To Use Color To Enhance Your Designs | Van SEO Design
People are physically, psychologically, and socially influenced by color. Color has been found to have connections to health and it can help set the mood through which your designs are seen. Color communicates meaning and so we need to be conscious of what meaning we’re conveying when we choose to use one color over another. It’s not enough for a designer to use a color simply because he or she likes that color.

Assignment 5 – Fat Cats Make Art Better | grotogrotto.com
I like the way this turned out. I originally was going to make the cat a lot smaller and put him sitting in the background on the bridge; then I realized he probably wouldn’t look like a fat cat anymore if I made him too small. My roommate suggested I put the cat on his head because it fits with the shape, so I did, and I like it.

The Basics of Typography
The Basics of Typography
Typography is a central component of design. It gives us an understanding of the heritage behind our craft. It’s one of the primary ways we, as a society, pass on information to others. Imagine a website, a magazine or even TV without text. Typography is a subject that raises passions and it can become a consuming obsession. If this subject is relatively new to you, or perhaps something you want to know more about, then this guide can start you on that journey.

Making the Rosetta | the-weekly-update.com
For this visual assignment we had to make an animated GIF from a real world object or scene. I decided to make something that I experience every day. As a barista, latte art is the ultimate achievement. It takes perfect foamy milk, perfect espresso and a very steady pouring hand. It took years for me to perfect the “Rosetta” – a leaf like image made by shaking your hand back and forth in perfect motion. I’m nine stars in to ten now! One star to go.

Boxcars and Ivy (Color Splash Assignment) » c r y p t o v a l e n c e
I was intrigued and impressed with so many of the Splash the Color assignment submissions this week that I decided to take a stab at this for my first few stars.  I used j-rabbit’s tutorial, where he outlines how easy it is to do this in Picnik.  I had a bunch of photos cluttering up my desktop from earlier daily creates and such,  so I picked one of them and got started.

This represents the happiest three years of my life. I used this controller so much that when I would play Halo 2, I couldn't run forward as fast compared to using a new controller because I had worn the stick out. So what did I do? I took it apart and filed down the faceplate around the left stick so I could full tilt back. Probably 3000 hours on this controller.

Daily Create: Make a photo which represents something you aspire to do or be someday. Ever since I was a kid I've wanted to hike the Appalachian trail. Where I grew up I could reach a portion of it in a matter of minutes by cutting through a few neighbors' back yards. As a kid it never quite clicked as to what an enormous task this is, but I'd still love to do at least a couple states.

Apply A Vintage Effect And Write Something In Helvetica | Canvas Graphics
Apply A Vintage Effect And Write Something In Helvetica | Canvas Graphics
Here’s something I did for one of my visual assignments. It was to take a bad photo and apply a vintage effect and write something in helvetica font. So i took this picture of a guinea pig in my pocket (don’t worry, no animals were harmed during this photo – it was rather happy in there) and named it wocket in my pocket.. you know.. from Dr.Suess. I did a bit of hue and color correction using photoshop and added a bit of grain and gradient to give it that vintage/washed out effect and finally added the text.
