Things I Have Learned in My Life So Far (Stefan Sagmeister)
Things I Have Learned in My Life So Far (Stefan Sagmeister)
Astonishingly, Stefan Sagmeister has only learned twenty or so things in his life so far. But he did manage to publish these personal maxims all over the world, in spaces normally occupies by advertisements and promotions: as billboards, projections, light-boxes, magazine spreads, annual report covers, fashion brochures, and, recently, as giant inflatable monkeys. In this presentation Sagmeister throws his diary, a lot of design, and a little art together with a pinch of psychology and a dash of happiness into a blender and pushes the button. It tastes surprisingly yummy. This book was published in Spring 2008 by Abrams featuring 15 different covers and 256 pages.

Working Examples
Working Examples
“Worked example” is a term we are borrowing and transforming from science education. In that literature, a worked example is an example of how an expert “works through” (that is, explicates, explains, and models) the solution to a well-known problem. Worked examples are supposed to make the thinking, practices, and values of a discipline overt and public for newcomers. WEP proposes a new use for worked examples, one applicable far beyond science. When people from different disciplines and domains of expertise are collaborating to develop a new field, they have initially no well defined and widely accepted solutions to core problems. Indeed, until there are such solutions, no one can be sure such an emerging field is possible or necessary.

The Flipped Classroom Model: A Full Picture « User Generated Education
Briefly, the Flipped Classroom can be described as: "Flip your instruction so that students watch and listen to your lectures… for homework, and then use your precious class-time for what previously, often, was done in homework: tackling difficult problems, working in groups, researching, collaborating, crafting and creating. Classrooms become laboratories or studios, and yet content delivery is preserved. Part of a digital story workshop assignment. The assignment was a story of "I". This is a THANK YOU to the Flickr and online communities that have been so supportive and given me so much. There are many more who I need to include and thank. Educators learning about technology, personalized learning, becoming self directed learners and making a difference for kids and for each other. You are the best! May we grow our numbers and change the world.

John Lennon On Copying Others' Music: It's Not A Rip Off, It's A Love In | Techdirt
When we talk about things like mashups, remixes, covers, tributes, homage and other such works that so directly build off of the past, we're quite frequently told that this is not art and that people should "make their own." It's a common refrain we hear here all too often. And yet, they never seem to recognize that replaying what you've heard before is an important part of culture. It's a way of sharing, spreading and building culture by connecting it with a larger group of people. It wasn't a rip off, it was a love in.

Shareable: Share or Die
Shareable: Share or Die
Share or Die is the first collection of writing from Generation Y about post-college work and life in the 21st Century. A new economy based in collaboration rather than competition is growing, and young people are at the cutting edge. Unsatisfied with their parents' communities, 20-somethings are using technology to build an entire infrastructure of social entrepreneurship dedicated to using less and sharing more. Share or Die chronicles some of these projects and gives readers the tools they need to join this new economy.

Draw and Fold Over
Draw and Fold Over
The Campaign for Drawing is an independent charity which raises the profile of drawing as a tool for thought, creativity, social and cultural engagement. It has developed two programmes to encourage the use of drawing by professionals and others: The Big Draw and Power Drawing. The Campaign has created a new regard for the value of drawing to help people see, think, invent and take action. Its long-term ambition is to change the way drawing is perceived by educationalists and the public. This has won support from leading practitioners in the creative industries and in art, architecture and design colleges, signalling an overdue realisation that drawing is fundamental to the training of students in these disciplines. The Campaign takes a wider view. It sees drawing as a basic human skill useful in all walks of life.

The Exquisite Corpse Video Project (ECVP) is a unique video collaboration among artists from all over the world, inspired by the Surrealist creation method, the "Exquisite Corpse". In the Surrealist 'game', a paper is folded such that each contributor sees only a small portion of the previous contributor's work, and begins his own work from that small portion. When the last participant is finished, the sheet is unfolded to reveal a strangely divergent, yet contiguous form or figure. Using the semi-blind, sequential method of the surrealists' game, ECVP participants create video art in response to the final ten seconds of the previous member's work. Each member is asked to incorporate these seconds into their piece, creating transitions as they please, until everyone's vision is threaded together into an instigating final "corpse."

Exquisite Corpse
Welcome to the surrealist parlor game, Exquisite Corpse, now on the iPad. Exquisite Corpse is a drawing journey into chance encounters with surprising juxtapositions. You as an artist participant in creating a composition on the drawing panel, and then pass it to another person without them knowing what exactly you have created. Play from two to up to five panels! No drawing skill needed! History dictates that the ending composition is that of a body, or a “corpse” as the head, torso, legs and perhaps feet have all been imagined and executed by different creators. The final combination is a stitched together figure, one drawing panel bearing no relation to the the neighboring panels thus revealing a monstrous being.

FoldingStory | The Group Storytelling Game
FoldingStory is a group storytelling game, in which players write one line of a story, fold the paper, and pass it to the next person. Write. Fold. Pass.™ It’s as simple as that. Story lines are left open ended, and are 180 characters or less-- plus when you start writing you have only 4 minutes to finish!

Exquisite corpse - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Exquisite corpse (also known as exquisite cadaver or rotating corpse) is a method by which a collection of words or images is collectively assembled. Each collaborator adds to a composition in sequence, either by following a rule (e.g. "The adjective noun adverb verb the adjective noun") or by being allowed to see the end of what the previous person contributed.

What Comics Can Teach You About Story Structure – For Bloggers By Bloggers
What Comics Can Teach You About Story Structure – For Bloggers By Bloggers
While I read, I realized that comics are an untapped resource for a whole plethora of writing tips. From the beginnings when four normal people began Fantastic, a child’s parents sent him away from an crumblings Krypton and a test pilot named Hal Jordan met an alien with an affinity for finger jewelry, comics have had a knack for engaging readers across generations and age groups. There are many reasons for this (great art, human fantasy, sexy babes, etc) but one thing all lasting comics have as an asset is the ability to craft stories that connect with people and keep them coming back again and again.
