The iPad was Invented 38 years ago | ConceivablyTech
Giving Apple credit for reshaping the way we use computers, well at least attempting it, would be a bit too much. Apple simply built a device that was imagined and described in detail in a research paper 38 years ago. Reading that paper is a spooky experience – it is fascinating how closely the author describes what the iPad is today. He even got the price right – almost four decades ago.

P4Games
Pixels, Programming, Play & Pedagogy (P4Games) is a project which explores the creation of interactive videogames as a holistic, project-based teaching method in high schools. The creation of videogames requires the integration of visual arts (pixels), computer programming (programming), and game design (play). P4Games has two primary activities: The first is to "teach the teachers" through the Teacher Game Institute (TGI); and the second is to teach videogame creation skills directly to high school students during residential summer camps. The project aims to increase student interest in art, design, math, and technology. P4Games enjoys generous support from the National Science Foundation and the University of Denver.

Because whatever else it is, online writing is still about inventing versions of the self, whether as pleasing personas, disguises or simply creations to be deconstructed and analysed, and as such needs to be understood within a critical framework capable of making sense of the complexities of that process.

Foursquare and Nonprofits: I want to Be The Mayor of Brooklyn Museum - Beth's Blog: How Nonprofit Organizations Can Use Social Media to Power Social Networks for Change
I am putting the finishing touches on another social media lab designed for arts organizations.   So, have been updating arts 2.0 examples.  I've also been trying to wrap my brain around whether or not Foursquare has value for nonprofits.  I had too look no further than Shelley Bernstein's blog over at the Brooklyn Museum to find some thoughtful experimentation and useful examples. Back in December, the Brooklyn Museum started to experiment with FourSquare running a promotion to get people to check in and get a free membership.

As I mentioned yesterday, the creation of a mobile website allows us to grow, so today we are taking advantage of that by introducing a new mobile feature. Gallery Tag! is a pretty simple mobile tagging game, specifically designed for use in the gallery.  Select a tag or create your own, go find works in the galleries that match, enter accession numbers and earn points and prizes.

WPR Article | The New Rules: Strategic Thinking in 10,000 Blog Posts or Less
In the last half-decade, blogs have gone from a quirky personal sideline activity to a mainstream, almost de rigeur professional activity -- following the previous trajectory of Web sites and, before them, e-mail itself. To many, this democratization of the flow of information is a distinct blessing, to others it is the epitome of data deluge. As someone who has now posted blog entries every day for six years and recently passed the 10,000-unit mark (fulfilling Malcolm Gladwell's quota for expert practice), I wanted to take stock of what this has meant to me as a writer and thinker.
