Best Amazon Prime Day Deals: Don’t Miss These Final Discounts On Top Tech Like Laptops, TVs, Gaming, And More – Windows Central https://collincountynewsonline.com/best-amazon-prime-day-deals-dont-miss-these-final-discounts-on-top-tech-like-laptops-tvs-gaming-and-more-windows-central/ Refresh 2022-10-12T11:58:50.316Z (Image credit: Daniel Rubino) Save up to 59% on Razer, SteelSeries and more Gaming peripherals are looking very good on day 2 of the new Prime Day sale. Razer in particular is really leaning in with chunky discounts on a range of headsets, gaming mice, and keyboards. We’re talking a minimum of 20% off too, so not just a few bucks.  2022-10-12T00:46:37.249Z (Image credit: Sony / Windows Central) I’m usually not one to spend a small fortune on headphones, but I finally broke down earlier this year with Sony’s WH-1000XM5. I wanted a great set of noise-cancelling headphones for long workdays, and the XM5s have delivered like crazy. For just over $50 off, these are a great buy through Amazon’s Prime Early Access sale. The XM5s offer probably the best noise cancellation you can get your hands on in a set of headphones. What’s more, they can be connected to two devices at once with automatic switching back and forth. This is great for stayting connected to your PC during the workday but still being able to quickly take a call with a low barrier. The touch controls are responsive, there’s Google Assistant support on board, and the sound quality is seriously amazing. Do yourself a favor if you have the cash to burn and pick these up while they’re on sale. 2022-10-11T23:51:44.272Z (Image credit: Best Buy) The LG C1 OLED is one of the best TVs you can get your hands on. For Xbox Series X|S and PS5 owners, it also happens to be perhaps the best pick when it comes to features for your console as well. And now, you can save just over $1,000 on one through Amazon’s Prime Early Access sale. The LG C1 OLED packs everything you need to take advantage of the latest generation of consoles. You’ve got 120Hz support, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, variable refresh rate, and a low latency mode for gaming. That’s combined with a gorgeous OLED screen that makes movies, TV shows, and, yes, games look amazing. The $1,000 discount is available for the 65-inch model, which gives you a ton of screen real estate for your whole library, and even a ton of the latest Game Pass games. 2022-10-11T23:40:09.363Z (Image credit: Daniel Thorp-Lancaster / Windows Central) Logitech is a household name for a reason. The company has been making great computer accessories for years, and they’re virtually the default decision when it comes to webcams. With the Amazon Prime Early Access sale, you can get your hands on one of Logitech’s best: the StreamCam. The Logitech StreamCam comes with a suite of cool features aimed right at content creators. You’ve got a 1080p HD resolution at 60 FPS, great autofocus, and a subtle, fabric-y look that works great for blending in. Moreover, it comes with a tripod mount on the bottom for those times you may want to set it up somewhere other than the top of your monitor. With Logitech’s accompanying software, you can easily adjust the StreamCam’s settings to make yourself look great in different lighting conditions as well. There’s even an auto-framing feature that will move the feed with you to make sure you’re always in the center of the frame. For $130 instead of its usual $170 price tag, this is an easy buy if you’ve been meaning to upgrade your webcam. 2022-10-11T23:06:01.779Z (Image credit: Jez Corden | Windows Central) Xbox Cloud Gaming is taking off, and many people are jumping on board for gaming on the go with just a phone. But a phone’s small display gets smaller when you have to use on-screen controls, and holding a slim phone isn’t exactly comfortable. That’s where the GameSir X2 Pro comes in. The GameSir X2 Pro attaches to your Android phone and provides Xbox-licensed dedicated controls, turning your device into something like a Nintendo Switch or Steam Deck. Along with the controls you already know from Xbox gaming, it has a heatsink integrated with the clamp to keep your phone cool.  It’s currently 20% off during Amazon’s Prime Early Access sale, bringing the total price down to $64. It’s available in White and Black colors. 2022-10-11T22:51:46.563Z (Image credit: Windows Central) Razer makes a ton of high-quality PC and console accessories, with a bevy of mice, keyboards, headsets, and more to offer. The BlackShark V2 represents a renewal of an older brand, made modern with 50mm TriForce titanium drivers, compatibility with PC and console, and a unidirectional microphone that delivers clear audio to your friends. It’s super lightweight, it’s comfortable even during long play sessions, and the THX spatial audio adds that extra layer for supported games. Razer gear doesn’t usually come cheap, as they seem to know how good their lineup really is. The BlackShark V2 regularly costs about $100, but it’s been knocked down to just $66.49 for the next couple of days. Pick one up if you’ve been meaning to upgrade your audio experience. 2022-10-11T22:37:49.537Z (Image credit: Zotac) The last couple years have been extremely hard on anyone trying to navigate the GPU market, with prices through the roof and stock anywhere but on the shelves. That’s all changed in recent months as the value of cryptocurrency fell drastically, and many PC gamers are now able to get their hands on one of the most important parts of their build. If you’re looking for a GPU that can handle 1080p gaming at or above 60FPS with modern titles, the GTX 1660 Super is likely going to be the best option for the asking price. Zotac’s version of the GTX 1660 Super has a dual-fan cooling setup, 1,785MHz clock speed, and takes up two expansion slots. It’s ideal for more compact builds that don’t have a ton of room.  Regularly priced at $290, it’s down to $200 at Amazon during the Prime Early Access sale. That’s the lowest price we’ve ever seen at Amazon. 2022-10-11T22:22:26.030Z (Image credit: Dell) Inspiron is Dell’s more affordable alternative to the XPS lineup, and while there are some XPS laptops on sale during Amazon’s Prime Early Access event, this might be the best deal I’ve seen so far.  The Inspiron 14 5420 has a slim build but holds onto plenty of ports, including dual Thunderbolt 4, HDMI, USB-A, and an SD card reader. The keyboard stretches from side to side, and there’s a sizable touchpad below. Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 are on board for wireless connectivity. Whereas a lot of affordable laptops cheap out on the display, the 5420 has a 14-inch screen with 16:10 aspect ratio, 2240×1400 (2.2K) resolution, about 300 nits brightness, and anti-glare finish. As for performance hardware, it’s sporting a 12th Gen Intel Core i5-1235U CPU with 10 cores, 8GB of DDR4 RAM, and a 512GB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD. Regularly priced at $800, you can pick it up right now for $680. 2022-10-11T22:02:19.335Z (Image credit: Amazon) There have been some tasty GPU and gaming PC deals already flying by today, and we know that some of you are no doubt looking for a new high-performance gaming monitor to accompany the new performance hardware. If you’re looking to focus more on refresh rate than size, Dell’s 24.5-inch S2522HG monitor might be the ticket. This monitor boasts a 240Hz refresh rate for its 1080p panel, as well as a 1ms GtG response time. Those are some great specs to pair up with a new GPU, and the addition of NVIDIA G-Sync and AMD FreeSync Premium means you don’t have to choose a specific card for the extra reduction in screen tearing and stuttering. Regularly priced at $300, this monitor is currently down to $200 at Amazon. 2022-10-11T21:44:53.594Z (Image credit: Windows Central) Lenovo’s Yoga 9i 14 (Gen 7) is our top pick when it comes to the best Windows laptops, but it’s extremely expensive and has a lot of features that not everyone needs to pay for. Lenovo also offers a mid-range alternative known as the Yoga 7i 14 (Gen 7), with an excellent build quality and strong performance in its own right. The Yoga 7i 14 (Gen 7) has rounded edges, huge touchpad, comfy keyboard, quad speakers with Dolby Atmos, high-res touch display with Dolby Vision, and FHD camera with IR for facial recognition. It’s powered by a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1255U CPU, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, a 512GB M.2 PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD, and Intel Iris Xe integrated graphics. The 14-inch touch display has a 2240×1400 (2.2K) resolution and 100% sRGB color. Regularly priced at $1,420, Lenovo has cut off about $395 to bring the total price down to $1,025. This is a great option if you’ve been waiting to get your hands on a modern convertible PC with excellent specs and features. 2022-10-11T21:32:59.300Z (Image credit: Daniel Rubino) Dell is hosting its own two-day sales event while Amazon has its Prime Early Access sale, and those looking to get their hands on an XPS laptop should definitely check it out. One deal that caught our attention is on the XPS 13 Plus (9320), which is Dell’s most premium 13-inch laptop.  What makes it so great? The 13.4-inch FHD+ display has a 60Hz refresh rate and excellent color reproduction and contrast, the keyboard, haptic touchpad, and speakers are all top-tier, and it has one of the best designs currently on the market.  This specific model has a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1260P CPU, 16GB of LPDDR5 RAM, a 512GB M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSD, and Intel’s integrated Iris Xe graphics. Instead of the regular (and fairly steep) $1,699 price, this XPS 13 Plus is down to $1,349. That’s a much more reasonable cost that puts it in line with a lot of lesser laptops that Dell has to offer. 2022-10-11T21:19:40.021Z (Image credit: Windows Central) Samsung’s 980 Pro is one of the best M.2 PCIe 4.0 SSDs you can buy right now in terms of durability and performance, but these drives generally cost more than competing SSDs that come very clos...

SaverOne Announces Generation-2 Of Its Core Technology And Global Aftermarket Product – PR Newswire https://collincountynewsonline.com/saverone-announces-generation-2-of-its-core-technology-and-global-aftermarket-product-pr-newswire/ , /PRNewswire/ — SaverOne 2014 Ltd. (Nasdaq: SVRE), (TASE: SVRE), a technology company engaged in transportation safety solutions, today announced the release of its second generation technological platform which is the basis for the Global SaverOne System for solving the problem of driver cellular distraction. The new and advanced second generation product, is built on top-tier elements, including an Analog Devices RF front-end and Xilinx dual core processor and FPGA. The product will operate globally with improved accuracy and response time, enhancing the user experience. The new second generation product has passed laboratory tests for  certification by the  main international regulatory bodies, the FCC (Federal Communications Commission of the United States) and CE (EU requirements). The second generation technological platform is also the basis for SaverOne’s OEM solution for vehicle manufacturers as well as for other verticals, within the automotive industry and beyond it. Ori Gilboa, CEO of SaverOne, commented, “The release of our second generation global product is a very significant milestone for us. In particular, it launches the next phase of our growth and expansion efforts, and enables us to expand sales into global markets, given its ability to operate within all frequencies and protocols. We have never been more optimistic about our prospects for SaverOne,” concluded Mr. Gilboa. About the SaverOne System SaverOne systems is installed in private vehicles, trucks and buses to provide a solution to the problem of driver distraction away from the road, that results from drivers using specific distracting applications on the mobile device while driving, in a way that endangers their safety and the safety of passengers. This phenomenon is considered one of the main causes of road accidents in the world. According to the US National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the annual cost of road accidents just in the United States, stands at about $870 billion each year, excluding the costs of serious injury or death, with a quarter of those accidents estimated to be related to the use of the mobile device while driving. SaverOne’s technology specifically recognizes the driver area in the vehicle and prevents the driver from accessing distracting applications such as messaging, while allowing navigation, without user intervention or consent, creating a safer driving environment. SaverOne’s primary target markets include commercial and private vehicle fleets, as well as insurance and leasing companies that are very interested in reducing potential damages and significant costs. SaverOne is initially addressing car fleets with focus on the Israeli, European and US markets, as well as other markets around the world. SaverOne believes that ultimately increased focus on monitoring and prevention of cellular distraction systems in vehicles, in particular driven by upcoming expected EU regulation, will likely have a dramatic positive impact on the demand for its systems in the future. The Company’s strategy is to provide its technology for installation to customers in the aftermarket as well as address OEM vehicle manufacturers, to install the Company’s protection technologies during the vehicle manufacturing process.   About SaverOne SaverOne is a technology company engaged in the design, development and commercialization of transportation safety solutions designed to save lives by preventing car accidents resulting from distraction from the use of mobile phones while driving. The SaverOne system provides an advanced driver safety solution that can identify and monitor mobile phones located in the driver’s vicinity and selectively block use of distracting applications that may become life-threatening. AP Big 12 Midseason Honoree Martinez Enjoys Winning Feeling – Marshall News Messenger https://collincountynewsonline.com/ap-big-12-midseason-honoree-martinez-enjoys-winning-feeling-marshall-news-messenger/ Adrian Martinez had done just about everything in his first four years of college football except play on a winning team. Those wins are finally coming for him at Kansas State. The 17th-ranked Wildcats (5-1, 3-0) sit atop the Big 12 standings in large part because of their dual-threat quarterback. He rushed for a combined 319 yards and acounted for nine touchdowns in breakout performances against Oklahoma and Texas Tech before he led the Wildcats to a grind-it-out victory at Iowa State last week. Martinez has won three straight games for the first time after never winning more than two in a row at Nebraska. He was picked as the Big 12’s top first-year transfer at midseason in a vote of Associated Press writers covering the conference. Martinez set more than a dozen records in his time at Nebraska, but the Cornhuskers were just 15-29 while he often played hurt. His 48 turnovers (30 interceptions, 18 fumbles) were most in the Bowl Subdivision from 2018-21, according to Sportradar. So far at K-State he has not thrown an interception or lost a fumble. Martinez averages 241 yards of total offense per game to rank sixth in the Big 12, and he’s fourth in rushing at 91 yards per game. A key point of the early season was a 17-10 home loss to Tulane on Sept. 17. Martinez acknowledged he had played tentatively, and coach Chris Klieman and offensive coordinator Collin Klein sat him down and told him to forget about the possibility of making mistakes and let his natural ability take over. “”That really speaks to the culture of this team and program, the leadership of coach Klieman and some of the older guys on this squad,” Martinez said. “We were determined not to let it ruin our season. All our goals are still on the horizon. The Big 12, that’s all it’s about.” Offensive Player QB Max Duggan, TCU (5-0, 2-0). He started 29 games for the Horned Frogs pre-Sonny Dykes and then lost the job to Chandler Morris in preseason practices. Morris sprained a knee in the opener against Colorado and hasn’t been seen since. Duggan, meanwhile, has thrown for 261 yards per game with 14 touchdowns against one interception. He’s second to Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud in passer rating (194.36) and yards per attempt (10.3). Defensive Player DE Felix Anudike-Uzomah, Kansas State. One of the most disruptive forces in the Big 12, he’s building on a 2021 season that saw him earn all-conference first-team honors. He’s tied for second nationally with 6.5 sacks. His two forced fumbles give him eight in 24 games, with his 0.33 career average best among active FBS players. Coach Kansas second-year coach Lance Leipold is known as a program builder, and his work with the No. 19 Jayhawks (5-1, 2-1) could be his best yet. The Jayhawks are ranked this season for the first time since 2009 and are one win from bowl eligibility for the first time since 2008. Leipold has done it with a big-play offense that has 19 plays of at least 30 yards and a defense fortified by a couple of key transfers. Most Surprising Team Kansas was the easy choice, and last week’s narrow home loss to TCU didn’t do much to diminish the magnitude of what’s happening in Lawrence. This is a program that hasn’t won a conference championship in football since 1968, and it lost 91 of 97 Big 12 games under five coaches before Leipold took over last year. The Jayhawks still have a long list of accomplishments they would like to check off. The next opportunity comes Saturday when they go for their first win at Oklahoma since 1996. Most Surprising Player Kansas QB Jalon Daniels was among the nation’s most efficient passers until he injured a shoulder in the first half against TCU. He’s doubtful for the game at OU. Daniels has thrown for 11 touchdowns and run for five, has been intercepted just once, and averages 234.5 yards of total offense per game. His six runs of at least 20 yards are second-most in the Big 12 and he’s had eight passes go for at least 30. Most Disappointing Team Oklahoma (3-3) looked every bit the top-10 team it was when it won 49-14 at Nebraska. Now first-year coach Brent Venable’s Sooners are 0-3 in Big 12 play for the first time since 1998 and coming off a 49-0 beatdown by Texas that was their most lopsided loss in the Red River Rivalry. The Sooners’ offense has gone dormant in the absence of QB Dillon Gabriel, who’s been out with a concussion since Oct. 1. Hottest Seat West Virginia coach Neal Brown is 2-3 in his fourth season and finding four more wins to get to .500 in the regular season won’t be easy. One of the wins was against FCS Towson. Brown was one of the hot coaches after three straight double-digit-win seasons at Troy, but he’s 19-21 at West Virginia. The Mountaineers are approaching four straight years without an appearance in the AP poll, which would be the program’s longest stretch since 1959-68. Biggest Injury Gabriel was one of the Big 12’s top transfers when he moved from Central Florida to Oklahoma and was sharp as he led the Sooners to a 3-0 start. He got outplayed by Martinez in the loss to K-State and has been out since the second quarter against TCU, when he took a devastating hit from Jamoi Hodge. The Sooners have scored one touchdown in 18 full possessions since Gabriel’s been out.

Google Expands Its Things To Do Feature Deeper Into Maps Skift Travel News
Google Expands Its Things To Do Feature Deeper Into Maps Skift Travel News
Google Expands Its Things To Do Feature Deeper Into Maps – Skift Travel News https://collincountynewsonline.com/google-expands-its-things-to-do-feature-deeper-into-maps-skift-travel-news/ Skift Take Step by step, inch by inch, Google is becoming more central to the tours and activities sector. We’ve seen this playbook before. Dennis Schaal Online Travel This Week The typical Google Maps use case doesn’t entail people planning their entire vacations in the app, but they can selectively find flight information, compare hotel prices and — Google announced Tuesday — mix and match prices of attractions tickets. No, Google Maps isn’t a superapp yet but it’s edging in that direction, and touts 1 billion people monthly using the feature. Search “New York” in Google Maps and you’ll find restaurants, hotels, museums, transit options, pharmacies, ATMs, and now things to do. In a blog post, Richard Holden, Google’s vice president of travel products, wrote: “Last year, we began showing ticket booking links on Search when people look for attractions, like the Boston Tea Party Museum, to help them quickly compare admissions prices across different partners. Now, this ticket information is available on Google Maps as well, where travelers often plan their itinerary for the day.” In other changes announced Tuesday, Google is in the initial stages of introducing in Google search booking links for tours that are connected to attractions, such as a combination Vatican and Colosseum tour in Italy. Previously, Google had booking links to attractions tickets, such as for the Vatican, and some related tours were mixed in. With the tweaks in Google search, the attractions tickets’ booking links and related tours are separated into distinct modules so they aren’t competing for attention, and users can readily make tour to tour comparisons. Google plans to introduce this functionality into Maps, as well. Google currently only offers these booking links when they are connected to attractions, and doesn’t provide them for “food tours in Rome,” for example, but you can bet that will be coming. Google Upped Its Ad Game for Things to Do Importantly, Google announced that it expanded the reach and format of text ads for things to do that it launched initially in 32 cities in September 2021. With the expansion, more graphical tours and activities ads get triggered with appropriate queries in 24 countries, which would be a greater revenue opportunity for Google. Pictured is an image of Google ads from Viator and Tripadvisor (both are Tripadvisor brands), triggered on mobile by a query for “things to do in Miami.” Parallels to Google’s Hotel Playbook Google dropped its Reserve with Google feature for tours and activities in August 2021, and one month later transitioned to a system of paid advertisements and free booking links for attractions, aggregators and operators. That combination of advertisements plus free links is similar to the way it changed Google Hotels in March 2021, supplementing its years-long paid booking links from online travel agencies and hotels with free links for a sometimes long-tail array of providers. In another parallel move, Holden detailed how attractions operators can now update their own ticket prices through their own Google business profile. Previously pricing updates could only be made on Google via a feed with a tie-in to a connectivity partner, so the do-it-yourself feature is likely most relevant for smaller operators. Holden wrote that these business profile updates would soon be available for tours and activity operators, and not just for the attractions themselves. Again, this is what Google previously did for hotels, enabling them to manually update their rates in their Google business profiles if that’s the way they wanted to do them. Google has lots of time and money to develop robust features for things to do, making itself an essential part of the sector’s fabric through its grip on search, knowledge about user behavior, and talent. Google over the years edged its way into the travel ecosystem for flights and hotels, and is patiently building out vacation rentals (although Airbnb doesn’t participate), things to do, and newly, trains in Europe. Google has all the time in the world to consolidate its position in tours and activities — unless regulators say otherwise. Skift Airbnb’s Chesky Wants to Clean Up the Cleaning Fee Albatros Airbnb hasn’t been in much of a hurry over the years to mute the outcry over host’s cleaning fees, but 17 months ago it began probing the overall fee issue, and this week CEO Brian Chesky said changing displays of fees and pricing are among his top priorities. A scathing Wall Street Journal article about the issue last month didn’t go unnoticed at Airbnb, for sure. Your Harlow – Your Harlow https://collincountynewsonline.com/your-harlow-your-harlow/ A NEW scheme has been launched to help improve the health of people living in some of our area’s most challenged communities. Through the ‘Our Health Matters’ scheme, pilot projects are being set up in six district council wards, in Hertsmere, Epping Forest and Harlow, where residents face some of the biggest barriers to living long, happy and healthy lives. Staff called ‘Community Connectors’ will work alongside families, individuals and community groups to really understand the issues that affect their health. Residents and Community Connectors will then work together to ensure that people living with serious health conditions including severe mental illness, high blood pressure and respiratory diseases get the expert help they need, and to improve the detection of cancer signs and symptoms. As well as helping people to get the healthcare they need, when they need it, Community Connectors will work with local people to develop schemes in their area that help people to stay well. Dr Jane Halpin, the Chief Executive of the Hertfordshire and west Essex Integrated Care Board said: “This programme is about much more than just providing healthcare. It involves listening to communities to find out what is making people ill in the first place, and then making the changes that will make a difference. We know that poor health can be caused by loneliness, anxiety, poverty, crime, inadequate housing and unemployment – as well as a number of other causes that can’t be addressed by healthcare professionals alone. “By taking a new, community-based approach we hope to help people to have the happy, healthy lives that we would all like to see for ourselves and our families.” NHS and social care organisations from the Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care System area are working with the voluntary and community sector organisations ‘Communities 1st’ in Hertfordshire and ‘Rainbow Services’ in west Essex to develop and deliver the Community Connectors programme locally. Communities 1st will deliver the programme in the Cowley Hill and Brook Meadow wards in Hertsmere, and Rainbow Services will deliver the programme in the Loughton Alderton & Waltham Abbey Paternoster wards in Epping Forest, and the Toddbrook and Staple Tye Wards in Harlow. The programme will run until March 2024, with the £100,000 costs met by a national scheme, following a successful bid by organisations from the Hertfordshire and west Essex Integrated Care System. Tim Anfilogoff Head of Community Resilience for the Hertfordshire and West Essex Integrated Care Board, said: “The Our Health Matters approach recognises that people and communities often know what they need and what would work, and that the NHS and our public and voluntary sector services needs to hear from these communities. “By working alongside people, listening to them, supporting them and sharing their ideas, we can take a big step forward in addressing the gaps in healthcare.”

Here Is The Latest SEC Sports News From The Associated Press – Mankato Free Press https://collincountynewsonline.com/here-is-the-latest-sec-sports-news-from-the-associated-press-mankato-free-press/ UNDATED (AP) — Ole Miss’ Jonathan Mingo is coming off of the biggest game of his career. He broke the receiving record set by current New York Jets wide receiver Elijah Moore by getting 247 yards against Vanderbilt. It was the most yards of any FBS player in a game this season and vaulted Mingo into the Southeastern Conference lead with 507 yards entering Saturday’s game with Auburn. Mingo has battled injury in his career and been overshadowed by 1,000-yard receivers Moore and Dontario Drummond. Now, he’s among the elites for No. 9 Ole Miss. KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Tennessee starting safety and captain Jaylen McCollough has been arrested for aggravated felony assault. That puts his status for Saturday’s game against No. 3 Alabama in question for the sixth-ranked Volunteers. Coach Josh Heupel said the team learned about McCollough’s arrest on Sunday night. According to an arrest warrant obtained by Knox News, a man reported that he went inside the wrong apartment after drinking with friends, and a man followed him out and punched him, causing him to fall down stairs and knocking him unconscious. Police said McCollough had blood seeping through a bandage on his hand, declined to answer questions and was arrested. UNDATED (AP) — It could well be among the marquee quarterback matchups of the season: Alabama’s Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young versus Tennessee’s rising star Hendon Hooker. Young’s sprained right shoulder was being re-evaluated, but coach Nick Saban seemed somewhat optimistic about his status for the Saturday’s game. Hooker and Young are still among the leading Heisman Trophy candidates. Jalen Milroe started for Alabama in a squeaker over Texas A&M. UNDATED (AP) — Georgia has taken back the top spot in The Associated Press college football poll from Alabama. The Crimson Tide slid to No. 3. The Bulldogs received 32 first-place votes and 1,535 points in the Top 25 to easily reclaim No. 1 on Sunday after being just two points behind Alabama for the No. 2 spot last week. Georgia thumped Auburn 42-10 on Saturday. The Tide escaped an upset bid at home by Texas A&M with Heisman Trophy winning quarterback Bryce Young sidelined by injury. Ohio State moved up a spot to No. 2, receiving 20 first-place votes. UNDATED (AP) — Beating Oklahoma has been a way to get ranked in the Big 12 — which is odd considering how poorly the Sooners have played lately. No. 22 Texas became the third Big 12 team in the last three weeks to defeat Oklahoma on Saturday and end up in the AP Top 25 on Sunday. Often complaints about the preseason poll and how it shapes the rankings in the regular-season can be overblown. But Reality Check can’t help but wonder if those Big 12 teams would have gotten such a big boost if the Sooners didn’t start the season as a top-10 team. UNDATED (AP) — Air Force has reached the halfway point of the season on track for its third straight national rushing title. Ohio State is on pace to be the top scoring team again. The Falcons are running for better than 352 yards per game and the Buckeyes are averaging nearly 49 points. Texas Tech is first in passing yards per game at 365 and Tennessee is the total offense leader at 548 per game. Defensively, Illinois is giving up just eight points per game. Other leaders are Minnesota in total defense, James Madison in rushing defense and Boise State in passing defense. UNDATED (AP) — Maybe making a coaching change less than halfway through the season isn’t such a terrible idea. After an unprecedented spate of early season firings, teams with interim head coaches went 4-0 this weekend in major college football. Georgia Tech and Nebraska each won their second straight games to move into position to contend in their divisions. Wisconsin played its best game in a couple of seasons in its first game after Paul Chryst was fired. And, Arizona State got its first victory since firing Herm Edwards. IOS 16.1 Has Important Changes For Shortcuts Heres Everything You Need To Know Gadget Hacks
IOS 16.1 Has Important Changes For Shortcuts — Here’s Everything You Need To Know – Gadget Hacks https://collincountynewsonline.com/ios-16-1-has-important-changes-for-shortcuts-heres-everything-you-need-to-know-gadget-hacks/ The latest iPhone update introduces big features like Live Activities and Clean Energy Charging, but those aren’t the only things you’ll notice different on iOS 16.1. If you build your own shortcuts in the Shortcuts app, there are a few things you’ll definitely want to know about the new software. It’s not a massive feature drop as with iOS 16.0, but they are important changes. You can use a few more actions in your shortcuts, but the most significant changes in Shortcuts affect glyphs. The changes below also appear on iPadOS 16.1 for iPad and macOS 13 Ventura for Mac, which are still in beta. Don’t Miss: Unlock Your iPhone’s Secret Apple TV Remote App for Home Screen, App Library, Siri, and More — No Control Center Needed 1. More Shortcut Actions Apple added almost 60 actions to Shortcuts with iOS 16.0, but you’ll see a few more new ones on iOS 16.1. Here they are and what they do: Get Current Focus (Scripting, Device): Returns the currently active focus. Open Smart List (Reminders): Opens a specific smart list in Reminders. Search in Shortcuts (Shortcuts): Opens Shortcuts and performs a search for the specified text. However, one action has been removed on iOS 16.1: Open Folder (Notes): Get quick access to one of your Notes folders. And at least one received a minor name change: Change Recording Playback Setting (Voice Memos): Changes playback settings in Voice Memos. (It used to be Change Playback Setting.) Some of the new actions on early iOS 16.0 betas were absent on the stable iSO 16.0 release, such as seven additional actions for the Books app and “Delete Messages” for the Messages app. Those are still missing on iOS 16.1, but the new update did bring back the “Search in Shortcuts” option seen above. 2. Better Glyph Categories Before iOS 16.1, there were only three categories — Objects, People, and Symbols — to sort glyphs in Shortcuts’ icon picker. With so few groupings, browsing for an icon you didn’t know the name of was exhausting. (Left GIF below.) Now there are 29 total categories for easier glyph browsing. They are all listed alphabetically below, not in the order they appear in Shortcuts). (Right GIF below.) Accessibility Arrows Automotive Camera & Photos Commerce Communication Connectivity Devices Editing Fitness Gaming Health Home Human Indices Keyboard Math Media Nature Objects Objects & Tools People Privacy & Security Shapes Symbols Text Formatting Time Transportation Weather The glyph categories on iOS 16.0.3 (left) and iOS 16.1 (right). However, unlike before iOS 16.1, when you search for a glyph, all results are in one big grid; It no longer separates search results by categories. 3. Glyphs Show in Multiple Categories Having 29 categories for browsing glyphs is helpful, and you would expect all of the glyphs to appear in one category only. That’s not the case. For even faster browsing, some glyphs appear in multiple categories. So if you’re looking for a sun, you’ll find it under the Nature, Weather, and Keyboard categories, not just one of them. Some glyphs might show in multiple sections, as seen below. The names in parentheses are the names according to Voice Control. If there are no parentheses, Voice Control also uses the listed name. Alarm clock (Alarm): Objects & Tools + Time Back button (Back): Arrows + Camera & Photos Band-aid (Bandage.fill): Editing + Health + Objects & Tools Bathtub (Bathtub.fill): Home + Objects & Tools Bed (Bedtime.fill): Health + Home + Objects & Tools Bitcoin (Bitcoinsign.circle.fill): Commerce + Indices Brain: Health + Human Brain in human head (Brain.head.profile): Health + Human British pound sterling (Sterlingsign.circle.fill): Commerce + Indices Camera: Camera & Photos + Objects & Tools Car: Automotive + Devices + Transportation Cars: Automotive + Devices + Transportation Clock: Objects & Tools + Time Cloudy (Mostly cloudy): Nature + Weather Cloud raining (Rain): Nature + Weather Compose note (Compose): Editing + Objects & Tools Crescent moon (Do Not Disturb): Nature + Weather Crescent moon button (Do Not Disturb): Nature + Weather Crop: Editing + Objects & Tools Dial knob low (Dial.low.fill): Editing + Objects & Tools Dial knob high (Dial.high.fill): Editing + Objects & Tools Down button (Go down): Arrows + Camera & Photos Electric car (Bolt.car.fill): Automotive + Devices + Transportation Euro (Eurosign.circle.fill): Commerce + Indices Exclamation mark triangle sign (Warning): Automotive + Privacy & Security Eyedropper (Pick color halffull): Editing + Objects & Tools Face mask (Facemask.fill): Health + Objects & Tools Filters: Camera & Photos + Editing + Objects & Tools Forward button (Chevron.forward.circle.fill): Arrows + Camera & Photos Fuel pump (Fuelpump.fill): Automotive + Objects & Tools + Transportation Game controller: Devices + Fitness + Gaming + Objects & Tools Hand reading braille (Hand.point.up.braille.fill): Accessibility + Human Home: Gaming + Home Hourglass (Duration): Objects & Tools + Time Human dancing (Figure.dance): Fitness + Human Human hiking (Figure hiking): Fitness + Human Human in wheelchair (Figure.roll): Accessibility + Fitness + Human Human running (Running): Fitness + Human Human running button (Figure.run.circle.fill): Fitness + Human Human skiing (Figure.skiing.crosscountry): Fitness + Human Human snowboarding (Figure.snowboarding): Fitness + Human Human swimming (Figure.pool.swim): Fitness + Human Human walking (Walk): Fitness + Human + Transportation Human weightlifting (Figure.strengthtraining.traditional): Fitness + Human Keyboard: Devices + Keyboard Key (Passwords): Automotive + Objects & Tools + Privacy & Security Lightbulb: Home + Objects & Tools Lightning bolt (Flash): Camera & Photos + Nature Lock locked (Lock): Objects & Tools + Privacy & Security Lock unlocked (Unlock): Objects & Tools + Privacy & Security Magic wand (Enhance): Editing + Objects & Tools Magic wand and stars (Wand.and.stars.inverse): Editing + Objects & Tools Minimize (Exit full screen): Arrows + Camera & Photos Over-the-ear headphones (Audiobook): Devices + Objects & Tools Over-the-ear headphones button (Audiobook): Devices + Objects & Tools Paintbrush (Format): Editing + Objects & Tools Payment card (Card): Commerce + Objects & Tools Pencil (Edit): Editing + Objects & Tools Pill bottle (Cross.vial.fill): Health + Objects & Tools Pills (Medicine): Health + Objects & Tools Plus button (Add): Gaming, Math Printer (Print): Devices + Objects & Tools Quote bubble filled (Bubble): Accessibility + Communication Quote bubble unfilled (Bubble): Accessibility + Communication Scissors (Cut): Editing + Objects & Tools Shopping bag: Commerce + Objects & Tools Shopping cart: Commerce + Objects & Tools Shower (Shower.fill): Home + Objects & Tools Stopwatch: Objects & Tools + Time Stop hand (Block): Human + Privacy & Security Stop hand crossed out, filled (Unblock): Human + Privacy & Security Stop hand crossed out, unfilled (Unblock): Human + Privacy & Security Storage drive connected (Externaldrive.connected.to.line.below.fill): Connectivity + Objects & Tools Stove/Oven (Stove.fill): Home + Objects & Tools Sun (Brightness higher): Keyboard + Nature + Weather Syncing/Switch camera (Syncing): Arrows + Camera & Photos Syringe (Syringe.fill): Health + Objects & Tools T-shirt (Tshirt.fill): Human + Objects & Tools Timer: Objects & Tools + Time Timer in a box (Timer): Objects & Tools + Time Trophy (Trophy.fill): Fitness + Objects & Tools U.S. dollar (Dollarsign.circle.fill): Commerce + Indices Up button (Go up): Arrows + Camera & Photos Yen (Yensign.circle.fill): Commerce + Indices 4. Removed Glyphs The new Shortcuts update also includes an anti-feature, so to speak, where Apple took something away from us. Actually, it took a lot away. From my count, Apple removed 100 glyphs when it introduced categories. It’s possible the Apple developers didn’t immediately know which category the glyphs should go in or left out entire categories by accident or with the intention to add them back later. But for now, you can see everything that’s missing below. The names in parentheses are the names according to Voice Control. If there are no parentheses, Voice Control also uses the listed name. Latest Crypto News – Ethereum And Runfy Helping The Market Evolve – Deccan Herald https://collincountynewsonline.com/latest-crypto-news-ethereum-and-runfy-helping-the-market-evolve-deccan-herald/ The crypto market is ever-changing and it can be quite hard to keep up with the latest crypto news. One of the biggest current events happening in the crypto world is the merge of Ethereum (ETH). This merge is something that has been bubbling behind the scenes for quite some time now, and now it has finally happened. Plus the new project, Runfy (RUNF) is also on track to launch soon which could push the market one step further.  Ethereum Merge  The long awaited Ethereum merge has finally happened on September 15th 2022 which means that Ethereum is now using an updated, more eco-friendly system with much less energy usage than before.  Ethereum is the biggest blockchain in the market and now that it has finally upgraded, it is expected to become bigger and better. Although Ethereum was highly secure and scalable before the merge, it is now even more so. Additionally, Ethereum has cut down significant energy costs and usage, making it a much more sustainable way to go forward in the market.  This is a key moment for the crypto space as this merge has been a step forward in the right direction for not only Ethereum, but the general crypto market. By tackling a huge issue that many crypto projects are facing which is the large use of energy consumption, this is a step forward in helping crypto become more available and accessible for daily use in the long term. Furthermore, it is smart to keep an eye on ETH to see how this merge could possibly affect its value as many predict it to rise.  Running The Show – Runfy (RUNF) Runfy is a new crypto project that aims to tackle a different issue for individuals around the world. Using crypto as a means of motivation, Runfy aims to reward users with RUNF tokens for achieving their fitness goals.  Due to the pandemic, many individuals worldwide lost the motivation to work out and get fit. Runfy provides a solution to this by using its platform to get people working out and looking after their health. This is a common issue for individuals, whether they have any crypto experience or not.  As this is a brand new take on crypto and its purpose, Runfy has the potential to open up the crypto market to a new range of users. A lot of people find the general idea of crypto to be overwhelming and daunting because it is primarily finance based, however Runfy changes this idea by focusing on health and wellbeing first and finance second. Additionally, this is a great way to motivate people, as well as helping them better their own lives in more ways than money.  Runfy is currently in presale and is set to launch officially in the near future. This means that RUNF token prices are low, plus Runfy is offering a bonus for those who purchase tokens in presale. If RUNF tokens are purchased during stage 1 of presale, they will earn a 7% bonus, similarly in stage 2 of presale, users will earn a 5% bonus, and a 3% bonus in stage 3.  With this in mind, it is best to further your research before making any crypto related decisions.  Learn more about Runfy here:  Presale: http://go.runfytoken.io/  Website: http://runfytoken.io/

Column: People Power Key To Second U.S. Energy Revolution – Reuters.com https://collincountynewsonline.com/column-people-power-key-to-second-u-s-energy-revolution-reuters-com/ $430 Bln Inflation Reduction Act passed in August Bill provides large rebates & tax breaks to promote clean tech Long-lasting tax credits to trigger big green energy investments Public opposition to industrial green energy plants a key hurdle LITTLETON, COLO Oct 12 (Reuters) – The much-celebrated U.S. Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) marks its two-month birthday this weekend, but the ambitious climate bill that some hope will herald an energy revolution must overcome serious public reservations if it’s to reach maturity. For energy transition advocates there’s a lot to like about the act: Billions in rebates for greener water and heating systems and electric vehicles, tax credits for business investment in low-emissions equipment and benefits for renewable energy developers to offset large upfront costs. In sum, the law “will have a profound effect across industries for the next decade and beyond,” said Credit Suisse in a note to clients last month. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com It’s strong stuff and reminiscent of the profound transformation of the U.S. oil and natural gas sector wrought by hydraulic fracturing and horizontal drilling that enabled America to flip from a net oil and gas importer to the world’s top producer early last decade. The ingenuity and industriousness of U.S. drillers upended the global oil and gas markets during that period, and gave rise to the notion that technical acumen, entrepreneurialism and supportive government policy could reshape established industries. U.S. flipped from energy importer to exporter thanks to sharp jumps in oil & gas output & exports Similar aspirations abound now in clean energy, thanks to the IRA’s scale of funding and scope of impact across energy producers, businesses and households. But there are important differences between the so-called “Shale Revolution” a decade ago and the proposed clean energy transformation targeted by the IRA in the decades ahead. BACK TO BASICS The overhaul of the energy sector in the late 2000’s was essentially down to deploying existing capabilities and technologies on already-functioning oil and gas deposits – but in a new way. Pockets of oil and gas existed around established wells but could not be commercialized until the likes of oil pioneer George Mitchell used high-pressure jets of water and sand to fracture the rock bed, allowing the oil to be tapped. Extractors also used horizontal drilling to siphon off oil and gas trapped in adjacent chambers, boosting each well’s yield without costly additional drill holes. The US shale revolution saw drilling rigs and crude oil production surge To be sure, several refinements to extraction equipment also emerged – including the acclaimed remote-controlled walking rigs – which helped augment an aura of disruption. But the sector’s basic practices were unchanged – it sucked up oil and gas from underground reserves – which meant the shale transformation was more “evolution” than “revolution”. ALL CHANGE In contrast, the energy system and supply chain envisioned by the IRA will require a drastic shift in the sources of power for industry and transport and a comprehensive retooling of the transmission network. The location of key energy hubs will shift from remote subterranean deposits already connected by pipelines to a plethora of new above-ground solar and wind farms linked by miles of distribution lines to consumers. US targets rapid growth in renewables and non-emitting electricity sources in coming decades While that looks good on paper, the roadmap faces several notable hurdles, not least widespread public opposition to renewable energy installations near communities. These objections go well beyond NIMBY-ism. Communities across the world are becoming much better informed about the benefits and costs of major renewable energy installations, and often object to their development on the very same grounds that are spurring energy transition ambitions in the first place: a desire to have a clean and safe place to live. Wind turbines as tall as the Statue of Liberty emit noise and flashing lights that dramatically alter their landscape. Awareness of this has slowed project approvals across the country in recent years, even as overall wind generation capacity has climbed through blade upgrades and expansions at existing farms. Industrial solar plants take up miles of space and planned extensions to utility transmission lines often snake through open spaces and animal habitats, which local communities may value more than the low-emission energy transferred to other consumers elsewhere. It will require more than technological breakthroughs to overcome some of these hurdles, especially in well-organised communities that are capable of creating costly delays that sap the willpower and profit potential of project developers. However, if the American people feel it is in their interest to support a wholesale energy transformation – even in their own back yards – then the IRA’s lofty goals of a true energy revolution could well come to pass. Christiana Borough Council Approves Technology Updates For Offices – LNP | LancasterOnline https://collincountynewsonline.com/christiana-borough-council-approves-technology-updates-for-offices-lnp-lancasteronline/ When: Christiana Borough Council, Oct. 4. What happened: Council approved several technology updates for the borough offices. Background: The current software being used for water, sewer and trash billing is not user-friendly. Another issue is the lack of remote access to the computers, so no one can work from home in the event of bad weather or when extra work is needed outside office hours. Why it’s important: The current billing program will identify accounts that are past due, but it requires the office to manually calculate late fees and input the amount into the billing notice, increasing the potential for errors. What happens next: Borough Manager Bobbi Masser has been in touch with Quarryville and Atglen and will be talking with them about the systems they use. Gohlke, associate professor of environmental health in the Department of Population Sciences at the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine, has been awarded a $1 million grant from NASA. She will work alongside co-principal investigators Ryan Calder, assistant professor of environmental health and policy at the college; Samarth Swarup of the University of Virginia; and Benjamin Zaitchik of Johns Hopkins University.    With this grant, Gohlke hopes to improve the ways that government agencies estimate damage caused by extreme weather events.   Current analyses don’t fully take into account health damages, which means that total damages are underestimated and Americans may not be receiving the support they need to fully recover from extreme weather events. Gohlke uses mold as an example: If a family gets sick because their houses are full of mold after a flood, the government’s damage estimate would not include the damage to their health. With improved methods of estimation, experts can make better informed decisions about disaster relief spending and more.   These calculations are used in the formation of policy, and agencies such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) use such data to write regulations. Better health damage accuracy also will change the way the government calculates the cost of climate change. This information will be of particular use to the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s list of billion-dollar weather and climate disasters and the EPA’s Social Cost of Carbon (SC-CO2) calculations.   In addition to calculating overall cost, the research team will examine damages at the census tract level to see who is hardest hit by these events.   * * * Virginia Tech to illuminate Torgersen Bridge for homecoming In honor of the Virginia Tech’s Sesquicentennial and as part of the university’s Homecoming celebration, a special projection will be displayed after dark on Alumni Mall’s Torgersen Bridge this weekend.  This portrayal of 150 years of the university will explore history with photos, videos, and sound played on a loop. Economy Contracts 0.3% In August, ONS Figures Show – Sky News https://collincountynewsonline.com/economy-contracts-0-3-in-august-ons-figures-show-sky-news/ The economy slowed in August, contracting by 0.3% on the previous month. The Office for National Statistics released its latest reading on the UK’s performance as the government frets over the prospect of recession ahead, given the toll placed on demand by the cost of living crisis. Action by the Bank of England to tame inflation, through successive interest rate increases, is adding to the cost burden for borrowers. The Bank’s tightening has placed its mandate to control inflation at odds with the agenda of the new Truss administration, which has set a target for annual economic growth of 2.5%. The mini-budget last month, which contained energy bill help for households and businesses along with a series of tax cuts, prompted turmoil on financial markets. The resulting crisis of credibility forced down the value of the pound and raised government borrowing costs to such an extent that the Bank had to intervene. The International Monetary Fund warned on Tuesday that the government should ensure its tax and spending plans are in line with the Bank of England’s inflation-fighting remit. In other words, the priority should be tackling inflation rather than adding to the price problem through tax giveaways to achieve economic growth. The IMF welcomed the prospect of an earlier-than-expected debt plan from Kwasi Kwarteng, the chancellor. That will now be delivered to MPs on 31 October and contain independent analysis from the Office for Budget Responsibility.

Chairman Of China’s ZQGame Holds Metaverse Wedding, Launches Digital Wedding App – Pandaily https://collincountynewsonline.com/chairman-of-chinas-zqgame-holds-metaverse-wedding-launches-digital-wedding-app-pandaily/ Li Yilun, chairman of Shenzhen-based publicly listed online game company ZQGame, held China’s first “metaverse wedding” based on his own actual wedding on October 8. Li took over the firm’s chairmanship from his father just five months ago. The company also launched its MetaLove app in a bid to enter the digital wedding field. Thousands of people watched the metaverse wedding online. Although such a ceremony may sound trendy and cool, many web users said that it actually looked like a game scene, and some even complained, “Am I the only one who feels embarrassed?,” and “It’s not fair to pay money as a wedding gift since I didn’t participate in the real world.” (Source: ZQGame) MetaLove is a multiplayer real-time online application based on real-world wedding ceremonies. Using technologies such as digital twins and virtual AI, it enables users to participate and bless newlyweds without going to the physical location. Logging in to MetaLove requires real-name authentication. After choosing an image according to gender, users will visit the wedding venue and receive an invitation to view the schedule. Fireworks, applause, and other functions are also provided for guests to participate. (Source: ZQGame) In addition, guests can give gifts to the newlyweds by recharging gold coins. The price of gold coins ranges from 1 to 9,999 yuan. The gifts that can be given include red dates, rings, red envelopes, Cupids, and more. At the same time, onlookers can also get lucky draw opportunities by signing in and giving gifts. Long before entering the digital wedding field, ZQGame launched metaverse-related games. In September 2021, the company posted that it would create a simulation business game called “Brewmaster” that could map players’ inner worlds to the metaverse. Subsequently, in just over two months, the company’s stock price rose from 8.19 yuan on September 1 to 42.63 yuan per share on November 11. SEE ALSO: A Chinese Gaming Company to Launch First Metaverse Concept Game, Shares Hit Trading Limit of 20% The soaring price attracted the attention of the Shenzhen Stock Exchange. In October and November 2021, the stock exchange issued two letters, requiring ZQGame to explain in detail the core technology of Brewmaster and its relevance to the metaverse, the feasibility of product implementation, and the basis for the calculation of R&D investment, and other expenses. In January this year, the stock exchange issued another letter, asking the company to explain in detail whether it uses the metaverse to gain market attention. ZQGame stated in its reply that it hopes to provide a space for users, content creators and project parties to imagine, create and practice, denying the existence of amoral behaviors to gain market attention. Compared with its popularity in capital markets, ZQGame has been losing money for two consecutive years. A financial report shows that from 2019 to 2021, the company’s operating income was 469 million yuan, 294 million yuan, and 355 million yuan, while net profits were 52 million yuan, -135 million yuan, and -0.46 billion yuan. In the first half of this year, the company’s operating income reached 160 million yuan, a year-on-year decrease of 2.15%, and the net profit was 11.629 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of 0.71%.

All The Best Prime Day Deals During The Prime Early Access Sale [Updated] Ars Technica
All The Best Prime Day Deals During The Prime Early Access Sale [Updated] – Ars Technica https://collincountynewsonline.com/all-the-best-prime-day-deals-during-the-prime-early-access-sale-updated-ars-technica/ Prime Day Part Deux: Day 2 — We’ve sorted through Amazon’s pre-holiday sale to find the stuff that’s worth your time. Corey Gaskin – Oct 12, 2022 5:46 am UTC Amazon’s Prime Day sales event came and went this past July, as it has every year since 2015. The two-day shopping event is exclusively for Amazon Prime members and features thousands of products spanning all categories. This year, the company has plopped another sales event on the calendar from October 11 through 12 called the “Prime Early Access Sale.” Meant to preempt the holiday shopping season, it’s a smaller, albeit still massive discount event on thousands of items. To be clear, Amazon remains a behemoth that has done (and continues to do) many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many, many things worthy of criticism, and Prime Day itself tends to be loaded up with a lot of junk offers and misleading “discounts” that don’t make products significantly cheaper than they usually are. Much like Prime Day, these deals range widely in their value. But among the literal tens of thousands of sale items, there are some genuinely good deals on a lot of the items and categories we cover here at Ars. We spent several hours combing through the offers to compile a list of the best values available. Many of the items are devices we’ve reviewed well here at Ars, while the rest have been well-reviewed at multiple review sites we trust. Using tools like Keepa and CamelCamelCamel, we verified that the deals below offer prices as low or lower than they’ve been in the past three to six months. Many of these match the types of discounts you’ll see during other major sales events like Black Friday and Cyber Monday. Cardano Price Forecast – Can ADA Jump To $10 In 2022? – Cryptonews https://collincountynewsonline.com/cardano-price-forecast-can-ada-jump-to-10-in-2022-cryptonews/ Disclaimer: The Industry Talk section features insights by crypto industry players and is not a part of the editorial content of Cryptonews.com. Cardano aims to solve the blockchain trilemma through its sophisticated proof-of-stake (PoS) protocol called Ouroboros. However, its native token has been hard-hit by the bearish waves that have swept through the crypto market.  Is there a chance of a bull run soon? Vasil Upgrade a Stepping Stone The Cardano team, led by former Ethereum co-founder Charles Hoskinson, has been deploying upgrades. The latest is the Vasil hard fork, which makes the peer-reviewed blockchain more scalable with minimal user cost. However, the team is not done yet, with even more scheduled upgrades expected in the future. At the moment, Cardano is reaping the benefits of the Vasil Upgrade, although its native token price has not reflected this. Since the deployment of the hard fork, the transactions on Cardano’s layer-1 blockchain have doubled. Over 3,445 smart contracts have been deployed on its Plutus V1 Scripts. The figure for its Timelock Scripts has also risen. According to data from the Cardano Blockchain Insights team, there are now 69,670 self-executing commands on the blockchain. Cardano Only Second Behind Bitcoin in On-chain Transactions Aside from the recently concluded Vasil Upgrade, the Cardano team has several targets to hit before launching fully into the marketplace. But this delay has not deterred investors and blockchain users, as all indicators show. According to a recently released Messari on-chain activity log, Cardano is the second most active blockchain network, only behind Bitcoin. The Ouroboros protocol has so far processed $3.09 billion in smart contracts transactions, beating Ethereum’s $1.7 billion figure. This is despite Ethereum’s transition to a full PoS protocol in September. With Cardano showing strong on-chain activity, the idea of it being a ghost chain is debunked. Other data revealed that over 25% of all blockchain transactions were generated in the past year in a period in which Bitcoin and Ethereum gained the most attention from investors and the media. This shows strong investor awareness about Cardano’s long-term potential and ability to deliver on its promises.  Cardano Trees Pointing to ESG-Minded Investors The Cardano monthly on-chain stats have shown how far the blockchain has come, with over 3.6 million ADA wallets created.  But its efforts to enable a greener ecosystem are what has gained the attention of environmentally conscious investors. Its Ouroboros protocol requires minimal energy for network transactions to be confirmed. Cardano has been working to create a more sustainable environment with Veritree. According to Veritree and Cardano, the Cardano Trees initiative recently crossed the 35% landmark; they are working towards planting 1 million trees globally. At press time, the ADA token is trading at $0.39, indicating a downtrend of 5.05% in the past day. However, ADA’s strong fundamentals could see the digital asset hit a new record high in the coming months.  Buy ADA on eToro Now This Green New Crypto is Grabbing Headlines ESG-minded blockchain protocols are more prevalent than ever as world governments struggle to keep their greenhouse emissions under check. The United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) underscores the burning of fossil fuels in industrial processes as a major contributor to carbon dioxide. One of the top projects in the ESG drive is Impact Project, which investors can diversify their portfolios with. The Impact Project team has built a solution to cut down on the impact of fossil fuels through carbon credits. This solution, the Impact Project protocol, allows users to purchase and burn carbon credits, using non-fungible tokens (NFTs). The project uses blockchain technology to solve greenhouse effects, making it one of the greenest cryptocurrencies in the market. Impact Project is operational on the recently launched Ethereum PoS blockchain, which has cut its energy consumption by 99%. Investors can buy IMPT tokens now on presale. Visit IMPT Now

U.S. Supreme Court Rebuffs Fetal Personhood Appeal Reuters.com
U.S. Supreme Court Rebuffs Fetal Personhood Appeal Reuters.com
U.S. Supreme Court Rebuffs Fetal Personhood Appeal – Reuters.com https://collincountynewsonline.com/u-s-supreme-court-rebuffs-fetal-personhood-appeal-reuters-com/ Oct 11 (Reuters) – The U.S. Supreme Court on Tuesday declined to decide whether fetuses are entitled to constitutional rights in light of its June ruling overturning the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision that had legalized abortion nationwide, steering clear for now of another front in America’s culture wars. The justices turned away an appeal by a Catholic group and two women of a lower court’s ruling against their challenge to a 2019 Rhode Island law that codified the right to abortion in line with the Roe precedent. The two women, pregnant at the time when the case was filed, sued on behalf of their fetuses and later gave birth. The Rhode Island Supreme Court decided that fetuses lacked the proper legal standing to bring the suit. Rhode Island Governor Daniel McKee, a Democrat, welcomed Tuesday’s action by the justices. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com “We’re satisfied that the Supreme Court declined to hear this frivolous appeal. Governor McKee believes that we should be expanding access to reproductive healthcare for women,” spokesperson Matt Sheaff said in a statement, adding that the governor “is committed to using his veto pen to block any legislation that would take our state backwards.” Lawyers representing the plaintiffs did not respond to requests for comment. Conservative Justice Samuel Alito wrote in June’s ruling overturning the abortion rights precedent that in the decision the court took no position on “if and when prenatal life is entitled to any of the rights enjoyed after birth.” Some Republicans at the state level have pursued what are called fetal personhood laws, like one enacted in Georgia affecting fetuses starting at around six weeks of pregnancy, that would grant fetuses before birth a variety of legal rights and protections like those of any person. Under such laws, termination of a pregnancy legally could be considered murder. Lawyers for the group Catholics for Life and the two Rhode Island women – one named Nichole Leigh Rowley and the other using the pseudonym Jane Doe – argued that the case “presents the opportunity for this court to meet that inevitable question head on” by deciding if fetuses possess due process and equal protection rights conferred by the U.S. Constitution’s 14th Amendment. The Rhode Island Supreme Court relied on the now-reversed Roe precedent in finding that the 14th Amendment did not extend rights to fetuses. The Roe ruling had recognized that the right to personal privacy under the U.S. Constitution protected a woman’s ability to terminate her pregnancy. Old Rhode Island laws included a criminal statute, predating the Roe ruling, that had prohibited abortions. After the Roe ruling, a federal court declared that Rhode Island law unconstitutional, and it was not in effect when the Democratic-led legislature enacted the 2019 Reproductive Privacy Act. Gina Raimondo, a Democrat who was the state’s governor at the time and is now President Joe Biden’s U.S. commerce secretary, signed the 2019 law, which codified the then-status quo under Roe in terms of abortion rights. More than a dozen states have enforced near-total abortion bans since the Supreme Court’s abortion June ruling in a case called Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization. Latest Gaming News: ‘Overwatch 2’ Technical Issues Continue To Devastate While An Upcoming Video Game Announcement Comes From An Unlikely Source – We Got This Covered https://collincountynewsonline.com/latest-gaming-news-overwatch-2-technical-issues-continue-to-devastate-while-an-upcoming-video-game-announcement-comes-from-an-unlikely-source-we-got-this-covered/ Image via Blizzard Here we are again for yet another gaming news round-up, courtesy of We Got This Covered. Last time, the Twitchcon was all the rage as Megan Thee Stallion twerked with Master Chief while Twitch streamer and pornographic actress Adriana Chechik broke her back after misjudging a leap into the foam pit. Today in the gaming world, Blizzard’s reputation is on the line as Overwatch 2 launch complaints still aren’t handled, meanwhile the announcement of an upcoming video game originates from a unconventional source and Overwatch‘s D.Va achieves her dream of global fame, but not in the way she wanted. There’s never a dull day for gamers, especially not with Blizzard getting a false start and exciting new projects around every corner. Without further ado, let’s get the ball rolling on today’s eventful coverage. Overwatch 2 continues to crash and burn as technical issues place the launch at a stand-still Image via Blizzard Just under a week ago, Overwatch 2 launched as a free-to-play rebrand. Originally thought to be sequel, Overwatch 2 was more of a replacement for the original, revamping the characters, environments, graphics and more. Around the same time that Overwatch 2 launched, Overwatch shut down its servers indefinitely, confirming that all activity would migrate to the latest release. As if Blizzard weren’t already in hot water over the decision to ice Overwatch, the clunky launch made matters worse after enthusiastic players began experiencing multiple debilitating technical issues. If it wasn’t servers crashing, it was locked content and annoying bugs. Even after Blizzard addressed the issues and promised to fix them, it became a game of whack-a-mole, wherein one issue was fixed and another seemed to arise out of nowhere. This time, it was a pesky bug that locked several characters, preventing players from choosing them out of the starting line-up. It seems as if the Overwatch 2 beta isn’t living up to the standards of its predecessor. The creative team behind YouTube phenomenon Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared have announced an upcoming video game Image via YouTube YouTube and Channel 4’s comedy series Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared was created by Becky Sloan, Joe Pelling, and Baker Terry. Using a combination of puppetry, animation, and live-action, Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared parodies programmes such as Sesame Street while contrasting childlike themes such as anthropomorphic puppets against disturbing themes such as graphic violence and dark humor. Beginning as a web series, Don’t Hug Me I’m Scared eventually migrated to Channel 4, where it became a worldwide phenomenon and expanded into a television series. According to NME, the crew behind DHMIS has announced a new initiative, Blink Games, as well as the intent to launch a new video game. Blinklink, the conglomerate that owns Blink Games, is a London-based company who previously worked on music videos for Iron Maiden and Dua Lipa. As of yet, there are no conceptual details as to what Blink Games has in store, but the likelihood is that DHMIS has inspired them to work on a psychological horror. In other Overwatch news, D.Va plays to win after jumping to the top of Pornhub searches Image via Blizzard It’s no secret that D.Va, the 19-year-old Korean and former professional gamer, has been the primary object of attraction since Overwatch made an initial appearance in 2016. As off-putting as it is, Hana Song has been sought-after by the community much like many female anime characters. It isn’t uncommon for anime fans or gamers to develop a harmless crush on a fictional animated character, but especially where D.Va is concerned, it isn’t entirely appropriate for Overwatch fans to pine after her. After all, she’s 19. Obviously, Blizzard made the decision to give Hana Song a mature, developed and voluptuous model, so the blame can’t fall entirely on the audience themselves, but after Kotaku reported that D.Va began appearing in Pornhub searches, it became safe to assume that someone, somewhere, might have taken things a little too far. While D.Va finally achieved her dream of worldwide fame, no one could have ever expected this, but anything can happen with Overwatch. On one hand, there’s technical issues overtaking the launch and on the other, D.Va has made history on Pornhub. Who would have guessed it?
