What Channel Is Eagles Vs. Jaguars On Today? Time, TV Schedule For NFL Week 4 Game – Sporting News https://collincountynewsonline.com/what-channel-is-eagles-vs-jaguars-on-today-time-tv-schedule-for-nfl-week-4-game-sporting-news/
There will be plenty on the line when the Eagles and Jaguars square off this week.
Both teams are off to hot starts in the 2022 campaign, with Philadelphia a perfect 3-0 so far and Jacksonville an impressive 2-1. They’ll clash this Sunday afternoon in what should be an exciting Week 4 matchup.
Jalen Hurts has been playing MVP-level football so far this year. He’s one of the main driving forces behind the Eagles’ hot start, averaging over 300 passing yards a game, and already has seven total touchdowns on the year. Of course, it helps when your team adds a stud receiver like A.J. Brown, who’s also been tremendous, over the offseason.
They’ve only had to play the Lions, Vikings and Commanders, but the Eagles have every right to be thrilled with their start to the season.
MORE: Watch Eagles vs. Jaguars live with fuboTV (free trial)
Meanwhile, the Jaguars have stormed back from a poor season-opening loss to Washington with back-to-back wins — now finding themselves in first place in the AFC South.
They stunned the league with an emphatic 24-0 shutout win over the Colts in Week 2, then proceeded to stun it again by dismantling Justin Herbert and the Chargers last Sunday.
Trevor Lawrence is finally looking like the star we expected him to be as he navigates his second season in the NFL. He has six touchdowns to go with just one interception so far on the year, and he’ll be looking to improve upon that even more in Philly this Sunday.
Will the Jaguars shock the NFL for the third week running? Or will Hurts and the Eagles move to 4-0?
Here’s everything you need to know to watch Eagles vs. Jaguars in Week 4.

Big Data is the Future of Metaverse, in a Sustainable Way
Sustainability and Metaverse: How Metaverse Is Changing Big Data and How to Adapt in the Future?
While the Metaverse may offer certain people a vast array of options for business expansion and development, for others, the concept is still relatively novel. Businesses should in some manner use this new development as justification for making sure best practices are being applied to their processes and doing right.
Big data is the center of this new technology revolution. In the Web3 era, consumers will generate such massive amounts of data that intelligent insights won’t be far away. Big data analysis may also aid in resolving some of the major sustainability problems facing the planet. The Metaverse has the power to change how businesses operate, and with the amount of data that will be generated at an exponential rate expected to reach 160 zettabytes by 2025, businesses will have a lot more information that has to be handled along. The Metaverse market might be worth $800 billion by 2024.
Importance of the Metaverse
The metaverse, the subsequent technological advance, is a three-dimensional representation of the internet. Initially, text-based, the Internet and computing later shifted to image-based. Now, a virtual public place and a network will be developed so that we can live parallel digital and physical lives.
Despite being perceived as a video game, it is the foundation of the global economy and the future of the digital economy. When we ponder, “What is the next great thing in climate adaptation technology?” it is because climate issues now influence everything. Metaverse and cloud computing are the solutions once more.
How will the metaverse contribute to sustainability?
One of the topics that are being raised more frequently in the technology industry, as well as by connectivity companies and others, is this. The metaverse is widely believed to be the upcoming big thing. The creation of the virtual metaverse has been compared by many experts to the birth of the internet itself as the next technical revolution of the century.
Forecasts are genuinely optimistic. A completely new reality, one that is entirely digital, would emerge from the metaverse and grow concurrently with the physical one. Through individual avatars, residents of this virtual metaverse would communicate with one another using a variety of gadgets, including smart clothes or interfaces that were physically affixed to the body. This would entail developing new connections and ways of interpreting them, possibly developing entirely new economies, the emergence of new markets and goods, the sharing of experiences and information, and much more.
The first corporation to discuss its metaverse was Meta. Meta was formerly known as Facebook. However, some powerful voices are keeping their foot on the brake. “This universe is not all that close,” asserted Raja Koduri, Senior Vice President and Group Head of Accelerated Computing Systems and Graphics at Intel, “since our computing, data storage, and connectivity capacities simply aren’t yet great enough to make this vision a reality.” Naturally, there is also the issue of sustainability.
Energy consumption, one of the great unknowns of the metaverse
Our most recent encounter with the metaverse, if we go back in time, was Second Life, which debuted in the video gaming industry in 2003. Technology was one of many factors that contributed to the gradual decline of this “grandfather” of the virtual metaverse. Simply said, the majority of computers at the time were incapable of supporting the information processing necessary for a seamless experience. As we’ve seen, something comparable to what’s going on right now with the technology of the metaverse.
This scenario might be replicated but substantially enhanced in the metaverse. Before 2030, the energy consumption of the technology sector may rise by 14%, claims ETLA Economic Research.
However, these projections are taken into consideration not the energy requirements of emerging technologies or devices. The Sustainable Development Goals of Agenda 2030, in particular addresses accessible and environmentally friendly energy, if there are any ethical questions regarding the metaverse, sustainability will be the most vocal opponent.
The metaverse as a driver of sustainability
The virtual metaverse shouldn’t be a barrier to sustainability, notwithstanding any potential roadblocks. It might already be spurring modifications to support it. Like any virtual world, the metaverse requires data transfer with massive bandwidths and incredibly low latencies. We need to start taking the issue of expanding data centers seriously once we take into account the significance of the cloud for virtual settings like the metaverse.
And at the same time, the carbon footprints they leave behind, which, according to Lancaster University experts, might increase by up to 30% by 2030. Large technology companies are attempting to make data centers substantially more sustainable because of this. For instance, Microsoft has pledged to use only renewable energy as of 2025 for its Azure cloud platform, as well as to return more water than it uses and achieve certification for zero emissions by 2030.

Pillow firmness according to sleep position —casper.com
At no other point in recent history have we been so preoccupied with our sleep.
For many years, what mattered most was the magical eight-hour duration, the basic prescription for rest and restoration. But today, the science of sleep has become more elaborate given our complex and hurried lives. The focus has become to sleep better, not just longer, with the quality, depth and continuity of sleep all ranking in the criteria of a good night’s regeneration as the cradle of our well-being.
Sleep trackers like smart watches and Fitbits act like watchmen for our snooze hours, but while they track, they do not enhance. Sleeping well is largely left to the habits and surroundings of an individual. As I firmly believe in changing the things that you can for a better quality of life, I’d recommend rearranging, modifying and tweaking your bedroom to be on top of your list.
Cooler temperatures
Keep your room cool at 15.6 to 19.4 degrees Celsius. This is the prescribed sleep temperature for adults. Studies show that cooler temperatures promote the production of melatonin, help you drop into sleep faster, and help the body achieve restorative deep sleep.
A ceiling fan is usually quieter than other fans, has a wider coverage and better air distribution.
Here, growth hormones are released, muscles and tissues are repaired, and our bodies clear out wastes and toxins. If nightly airconditioning hurts your pocket, consider the use of a ceiling fan which not only provides better airflow, but is usually quieter than other fan types. Keep your bed height closer to the floor, where cooler air settles.
Comfortable mattress, beddings
Make sure to have a comfortable mattress and beddings. A good mattress should cradle your back and neck to reduce any neck, shoulder, upper back and lower back stresses. There are no rules for hardness of softness, the choice will depend on your body and sleep position.
Soft material and cool pastel shades of blue simulate a cooling and relaxing environment for sleep.—Will Taylor (bright.bazaa) and Whitesands (mydomaine.com)
For pillows, harder pillows will support your neck better when sleeping on your side. On your back, softer pillows will keep from straining your neck. If your space can accommodate it, use a king-size mattress to allow for more movement. Bear in mind, too, that memory foam mattresses are usually warmer while the traditional spring-based ones provide better airflow intense, or cooler. Choose wisely.
Regulate your bedroom lights
Your bedroom’s artificial lights should be kept to a warm temperature and located at a level below your standing eye-level. Avoid using ceiling lights. If you must, keep them dim and yellow.
Studies show that the kind of light you are exposed to throughout the day affects the cycle of your sleep, hence, stay away from blue spectrum lights found largely in daylighting and electronic devices in the early evenings. And during sleep time, white lights are sure to sabotage your slumber so keep the use of electronic gadgets minimal and stow them away after use.
Invest in acoustics
Reducing the amount of noise transmitted into your sleeping spaces can greatly enhance sleep quality. While you may not want to completely block off the noise for security reasons, installing trims around door openings, door bottom gaps, installing acoustical curtains, or even adding a second layer of windows if you live in an excessively noisy neighborhood, can all prolong or greatly enhance the quality of sleep
Wrap your room or accentuate in cool colors
Studies have shown that bedrooms in cool pastel shades—especially light blues, greens and yellows—are conducive to sleep. They visually cool you down and are very calming to the eyes. Avoid strong and bold shades of blue, and do not use warm colors especially the stronger shades of red and orange which are both visually jarring and connote activity and restlessness.
Minimize visual clutter
Out of sight, out of mind! Clutter stimulates the brain away from a restful state. If you have a worktable in your bedroom, locate it outside of your visual field when viewed from sitting or lying position on your bed. Keep your books and other items inside your night tables, including your electronic gadgets. If you have accessories, artwork, shelving, and other décor, make sure they are properly arranged and are free of anything that can annoy you visually, or trigger you emotionally.
Shield your eyes from morning light
Our optic nerves are very sensitive and a small stream of light can wake us at the crack of dawn. While eye masks or covers are practical, they can sometimes be uncomfortable and inconvenient. Make sure to have a layer of black out curtains or shades, paying attention to their edges where small gaps will allow light to creep in. Ensure that there are sufficient overlaps, or channels to enclose the edges and seal off the light.
Window treatments should be able to seal off light, enabling one to sleep longer hours.—roomdesign.com
Establish a rhythm for sleep
Science shows that the time you wake up is more important than the time you sleep. To regulate your length and quality of sleep, head to bed and make sure you set your alarm to ring at the same time every morning. Worried about not getting enough? With a regular wake time, your body will adjust, and your sleep will become more efficient.
Our waking-hour activities should be dictated by our sleep cycles, and not the other way around. Productive and enjoyable days can only happen when they are supported by a good night’s sleep that may or may not be eight hours long, but has quality, depth and continuity made possible by a well-crafted environment.

Arbitrum Airdrop May Be Coming Soon Heres What You Need To Know Cryptonews
Arbitrum Airdrop May Be Coming Soon – Here’s What You Need To Know – Cryptonews https://collincountynewsonline.com/arbitrum-airdrop-may-be-coming-soon-heres-what-you-need-to-know-cryptonews/
Source: Arbitrum
Major Ethereum scaling solution Arbitrum is reportedly preparing for its much-anticipated airdrop. In light of this, pundits have shared some useful insight on the nature of the airdrop and possible eligibility prerequisites.
Anonymous crypto pundit DeFi Riddler took to Twitter to share some important tips on how to claim the Arbitrum airdrop in a lengthy thread of over 28 tweets. Within the thread, they highlighted the nature of the airdrop and some steps proponents can take to increase their eligibility chances.
The Arbitrum team has not shared any information on the total worth of the airdrop. Notwithstanding, according to DeFi Riddler, the airdrop is likely to be worth around $50,000 due to Optimism’s (OP) airdrop total worth of $50,000.
Additionally, the community should expect Arbitrum to launch its token soon, before the airdrop kicks off. As the distribution period for the airdrop appears to be around the corner, DeFi Riddler listed some likely eligibility criteria in a four-point analysis.
The first point involves the Arbitrum Odyssey Campaign. Proponents who took part in the Odyssey Campaign and haven’t claimed their NFTs yet are advised to connect their MetaMask wallet on Arbitrum to claim the token. A link in this regard was provided. Claimable period lies between June 28, 18:00 and October 30, 17:59 (GMT+1).
Notwithstanding, participants who did not get the NFT should head to Stratos NFT – an NFT marketplace on Arbitrum – to purchase a token. This will give them a role on Arbitrum Discord channel.
After purchasing or claiming the NFT, proponents should bridge some of their ETH tokens from the Ethereum mainnet to the Arbitrum One Network. After a successful bridge, proponents are advised to interact with dApps on the Arbitrum network by using them for several transactions on multiple days. Transactions mustn’t involve large funds.
Arbitrum is one of the most successful Ethereum L2 solutions
Thirdly, proponents should prioritize completing Arbitrum tasks on Discord. They would need a wallet and a Discord account for this. Funds ranging from $5 to $10 worth of ETH is enough to engage in the tasks. Users who complete the tasks receive rewards and increase their chances of receiving the upcoming airdrop.
Conclusively, active participation on the Ethereum network is likely to increase one’s chances of getting the airdrop. In this regard, proponents are advised to hold some ETH tokens, regardless of the amount, and get involved in on-chain activities. Users can also vote on available proposals on the project’s snapshot.
Airdrops are free tokens distributed by a project to numerous early adopters’ wallet addresses as a way of promoting the project. Airdropped tokens are likely to be minute in amount due to the multiple users they will be reaching. Notwithstanding, a price surge on these tokens could significantly increase their worth overtime.
Arbitrum is likely to begin its airdrop soon, and the scaling solution’s prominence is indicative of the airdrop’s significance. Arbitrum is essentially a layer-2 solution on the Ethereum blockchain.
The platform seeks to increase Ethereum’s transaction speed and cut down its fees by using optimistic rollups. Arbitrum is one of the most successful Ethereum L2 scaling solutions with over $1B in its total value locked (TVL).
The Biden Administrations Irrational Desire To Limit U.S. Energy Exports Forbes
The Biden Administration’s Irrational Desire To Limit U.S. Energy Exports – Forbes https://collincountynewsonline.com/the-biden-administrations-irrational-desire-to-limit-u-s-energy-exports-forbes/

Another active week in the energy space ended with the Wall Street Journal reporting that the CEO of ExxonMobil, Darren Woods, was having to waste his time arguing with officials at the U.S. Department of Energy about their apparent ongoing desire to limit U.S. exports of crude oil and other fuels, even liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Quoting from a letter Mr. Woods sent to DOE, the CEO said that “Continuing current Gulf Coast exports is essential to efficiently rebalance markets—particularly with diverted Russian supplies. Reducing global supply by limiting U.S. exports to build region-specific inventory will only aggravate the global supply shortfall.”
The Journal quotes an Energy Department spokesperson as noting that supply levels of both oil and natural gas currently sit at unusually low levels. In fact, natural gas storage levels are near 5-year lows. “The administration has impressed upon the oil and gas industry that it must do more to ensure fair prices and adequate supply for all Americans, while meeting the needs of our allies,” the spokesperson said.
Regardless of these low storage levels, the very notion of the United States – currently the world’s largest producer of both oil and natural gas, and one of the handful of largest exporting nations – cutting exports of these critical fuels heading into this particular winter is completely irrational. Given the desperate situation related to these fuels that exists in Europe right now, a sudden reduction in U.S. supply would in fact amount to an act of near-cruelty.
From a purely sterile analysis, Mr. Woods noted the key factor in his letter by noting that “Easing exports wouldn’t fill tanks in the Northeast—a region where U.S. officials said oil companies need to send more supplies—and instead would create a glut in the Gulf Coast that would lead refineries to cut output..”
It is no secret that, due to a variety of intractable factors that have mounted over the last several decades, the U.S. refining industry does not have the capacity to process all of the millions of barrels of light, sweet crude oil that is produced in the country’s prolific shale basins. We must remember that America has not permitted the building of a new, major greenfield refinery since the Jimmy Carter administration; thus, most U.S. refining capacity is designed to process heavy grades of crude oil imported into the country from Canada, Brazil, Mexico and other exporting countries.
Facing a looming crisis in 2015 in which volumes of new light, sweet production from the Permian Basin, Eagle Ford Shale and Bakken Shale regions would not be able to find a refining home, President Barack Obama agreed to an accommodation that enabled the drilling boom to continue. He signed the bill that repealed the archaic 1970s-era ban on U.S. crude oil exports as a part of an omnibus spending bill, an act that then-Vice President Joe Biden was quite aware of.
U.S. shale production has boomed by more than three million additional barrels per day since that time, and American exports of crude oil have boomed along with it by necessity. A partial or full ban on U.S. exports now would result in hundreds, perhaps thousands, of shale wells having to be shut-in because there would be no refining home for their production. This would create a shortage on the global crude market, and thus result in another round of price spikes for crude oil and gasoline at the pump.
In reality, of course, the Biden administration has a handy tool to use to alleviate any regional shortages of oil that might materialize over the winter. It’s called the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and Mr. Biden has displayed no compunction at all about pouring millions of barrels of oil from it onto the open market in repeated efforts to control gasoline prices at the pump. In fact, addressing real emergencies like regional fuel shortages is the actual reason why the SPR was created by congress in the first place.
Thus, what we really have here in this dust-up with Mr. Woods and ExxonMobil is an administration looking for a convenient scapegoat to blame for problems its own policies have created, and landing, as usual, on the oil and gas industry.
On natural gas, New England’s problems with limited supplies exist for the simple reason that the governments of New York state and in Washington, D.C. have refused to allow the construction of adequate pipeline capacity to carry gas produced in the nearby Marcellus Shale region to supply the New England states. Obviously, no new pipes can be built to deal with the looming supply issues this coming winter, but once again the Administration has a tool at its disposal to deal with the issue.

President Biden, if he chose to do so, could simply suspend the absurd provisions of another archaic relic from another day in time, the Civil War-era Jones Act. This law prohibits foreign-flagged ships staffed by non-U.S. crews from carrying products from one U.S. port to another. Unfortunately, none of those big LNG tankers are U.S.-flagged ships. As a result, the New England states aren’t able to bring in LNG from domestic ports along the U.S. Gulf Coast and bear lower domestic prices for the gas. Instead, they are forced to pay high international market prices for LNG brought into Boston Harbor from other exporting countries, sometimes even from Russia.
In fact, the Biden administration suspended the terms of the Jones Act just three days ago to help facilitate relief efforts to Puerto Rico as it tries to recover from the impacts of Hurricane Fiona, another real emergency. But suspending the Jones Act is invariably opposed by a key Democratic Party support group, organized labor. Thus, again we see the Biden administration casting about for a convenient boogeyman to blame to avoid a political conflict and landing on the convenient face of Big Oil.
It all comes down to politics. That is why the CEO of ExxonMobil had to take time out from running the biggest of Big Oil companies last week to argue with the DOE about limiting U.S. exports of oil and natural gas. It is all so incredibly tiresome.

Tech giant Apple has added the iPhone 6, launched in 2014, to its list of vintage products.
In February 2022, the iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus received the same classification as antique, and now the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus will follow suit, reports AppleInsider.
When the iPhone 6s was launched, the tech giant continued to sell the iPhone 6 as its lower-cost offering. It finally stopped sales once the iPhone 7 was released in 2016.
The larger “Plus” model of the iPhone was initially made available with the release of the iPhone 6 series. It also had a new design with curved edges that replaced the iPhone 4 through iPhone 5s’s previous design with flat edges.
Along with the iPhone 6, Apple also introduced Apple Pay, a safe way for customers to make purchases online by saving their credit and debit cards in the Wallet app.
The tech giant considered one of its products as vintage when it stopped distributing them for sale more than five years and less than seven years ago.
It provides service and parts for vintage products for up to seven years or as required by law.

10 Best Multiplayer Board Games You Can Actually Play Alone CBR Comic Book Resources
10 Best Multiplayer Board Games You Can Actually Play Alone – CBR – Comic Book Resources https://collincountynewsonline.com/10-best-multiplayer-board-games-you-can-actually-play-alone-cbr-comic-book-resources/
One of the biggest struggles that board game lovers face is the logistical effort of getting their friends together to play. Any group’s enthusiasm for tabletop play can be challenged or even overcome by scheduling conflicts and the obligations of day-to-day life. As a result, gamers often seek out games with lower player counts or solitaire-style rules.
Though most games are designed to be played either in groups or alone, some multiplayer titles come with special rules for solo play. These differentiations in gameplay cut out the need for multiple players so that the games can be enjoyed without the effort of gathering a group together.
10/10 Gloomhaven Includes Every Aspect Of An Epic Adventure
Though it’s intended for up to four players, the popular board game Gloomhaven brings the epic scale of a dungeon crawl to the table as a solo adventure. Instead of focusing on cooperative decision-making, a solitary playthrough of Gloomhaven centers on the player’s strategic ability and deliberate card choices.
The success or failure of the player’s venture will rely entirely on their own decisions instead of the combined efforts of a group. Gloomhaven provides all that a single-player table needs to undertake an unbelievable journey and test their skill against mythical dangers.
9/10 Stardew Valley Plays As Well At The Gaming Table As It Does Digitally
Stardew Valley: The Board Game came out in 2021 as a tabletop adaptation of the beloved farming simulator Stardew Valley. Though it’s designed for up to four players, it’s also playable as a solitary experience.
The gameplay follows the new farmer as they collect resources from around the valley each season to revive the local Community Center and save Pelican Town from the encroaching spread of mega-corporation JojaMart. Solitaire play of Stardew Valley: The Board Game provides the challenge of placing all required actions onto one gamer’s shoulders.
8/10 Terraforming Mars Builds Ecosystems From Scratch
Just as the title implies, Terraforming Mars is about humanity’s future endeavors to make Mars habitable. Its gameplay flows through multiple phases, with each phase entailing unique requirements and goals.
In a single-player run of Terraforming Mars, the player must carefully balance their megacredit income with how many cards they need and which projects they want to complete. A solo player challenges themselves to manage their resources and build up the ecosystem of Mars to sustain human life without the benefit of teammate assistance.
7/10 Wingspan Opens Up The Beauty Of Nature
One of the most popular independent board games published within the past five years, Wingspan, has single-player rules. Through this, the player can enjoy Wingspan’s delightful artistry and expansive array of birds without relying on others to join in for the multiplayer setup.
Wingspan’s gameplay focuses on the player building their bird sanctuary and acquiring the best combinations of birds to fill their habitats. They do this via collecting food tokens, laying eggs, and drawing new bird cards from over 170 unique, hand-illustrated avian options.
6/10 Everdell Follows A Year In The Life Of A Growing Society
While it can accommodate up to four players, Everdell can also be a wondrous journey for solitary gamers. As the adorable creatures of the forest seek to build and develop their society, the player follows them through seasons of challenge and success.
In Everdell, the player collects cards to gather resources and places their workers to take specific actions to achieve their objectives. They must equitably divide their decisions between working toward short-term goals and preparing for long-term situations as a year of in-game time passes around them.
5/10 Horrified Pits The Player Against Classic Movie Monsters
Built to be a collaborative experience for up to five players, Horrified challenges players to defend their village from seven of Universal’s classic horror-movie monsters. However, Horrified can also be played solo, with a gamer taking on the task of fending off the menacing supernatural figures alone.
An exciting aspect of Horrified is that the difficulty level can be adjusted outside of adapting to the number of players at the table. As a result of this feature, someone who plays the game alone can continue to increase the difficulty as they learn to master each monster’s strategy.
4/10 Calico Strives To Be The Cutest & Coziest
In Calico, players craft quilts with different patterns and buttons to attract the attention of adorable cats. Each element adds to their score as they play, carefully laying their tiles. Though Calico is built for up to four players, a solo gamer can also quilt on their own.
While solo play removes the usual competition aspect, a fan can replay Calico again and again, attempting to one-up their best score each time. The multiple quilt patterns, cats, and buttons to include in the cozy experience also provide Calico with significant replay value.
3/10 PARKS Can Be A Road Trip For One
The award-winning game PARKS celebrates the timeless natural beauty of the United States National Parks. Players venture on hikes through different National Parks locales, each detailing the unique scenery of its region.
PARKS guides the player, or players at a multiplayer table, through all four seasons as they venture through each park, taking actions and making memories. The player must conscientiously manage their resources between providing for the parks and assuring their continued journey, sometimes resting at campfires where they can share with other hikers.
2/10 Castle Panic Embodies A Classic Fantasy Scenario
When a player undertakes a single-player run of Castle Panic, the defense of the besieged castle rests solely on their shoulders. As they fight to slay monsters and prevent damage to their castle, they can strive to beat their past records of victory points.
This beloved fairy tale trial is the first in an ongoing series of games that also have a single-player capacity, opening a world of adventure to the avid solo gamer. There are also several differently-themed versions with similar gameplay, which can also be played solitaire-style.
1/10 Canvas Brings Fine Art To The Gaming Table
Canvas has players layer cards together to create stunning paintings. While up to five people can join Canvas’ art competition, a single player can also enjoy the game. Each painting is comprised of three layered cards, and the game ends when the player completes three paintings.
The player’s score is calculated via the accumulation of visible icons on each card. To play cards, the player must pay with Inspiration tokens, and each Art card costs a different amount of tokens. The single-player rules allow less-social gamers to enjoy Canvas‘ gorgeous designs.

Coxs Notebook: Cowboys Top Bears In Waco Pistols Firing
Cox’s Notebook: Cowboys Top Bears In Waco – Pistols Firing https://collincountynewsonline.com/coxs-notebook-cowboys-top-bears-in-waco-pistols-firing/
Oklahoma State ended Baylor’s nine-game home winning streak. The last team to win in Waco before the Cowboys? The Cowboys.
I already wrote out my recap of the Pokes’ Big 12-opening win, but if you’re interested in my real-time stream of consciousness, here is my running notebook from the thriller in Waco.
• OSU-Baylor going with the color-rush look with the Bears’ all-gold unis and crowd. Quite a sight.
• Cowboys defer, and the Bears rattle off back-to-back plays of 28 and 17 yards after a quick TFL from Thomas Harper. Only took five plays for Baylor to get into the red zone. Yikers.
• The Cowboys escaped with only a Baylor field goal after Bears receiver Gavin Holmes drops a third-down pass near the goal line. 3-0, Bears.
• The broadcast crew just tabbed OSU the second-fastest offense behind only Tennessee in the FBS. Didn’t know that but not surprised.
• And the Cowboys march right down the field. Sanders is playing fast and decisive. The reports of his being haunted by Bears seem to be exaggerated.
• That was just the seventh try from third-and-three of fewer this season. Richardson picks up five when he needed three.
• Cowboys face fourth-and-1 at Baylor 15. It looked like Richardson was called short on an unfriendly spot for OSU. Sanders goes for it and gets it after they bring out the chains. I don’t need OSU coming up short to become a trend in this game.
• There’s not much going in the middle against this Baylor front. Siaki Ika continues to be a dude.
• Bryson Green climbs the ladder in the end zone and the Cowboys score a TD on their first drive. 7-3, Cowboys.
• Thomas Harper had Craig Williams in the backfield on the Bears’ first play of the drive but was shed. Williams picks up eight. Huge miss there.
• Shapen went down the sideline and Holmes had a 60-yard play but just dropped it in the fall. With the red zone drop, that’s two big negative plays for Holmes.
• Mason Cobb has already made a couple of big plays. Blows up a play for a loss of five. The Cowboys get a stop.
• OSU running outside is a good idea with Ika in the middle.
• And on that note, Dominic Richardson just had a grown-man run up the middle taking a hit from the big guy and then spinning and picking up about five.
• Sanders-to-Presley connection is now 3-for-4 for 42 yards. This was from earlier.
• Cowboys had fourth-and-4 at the Baylor 41. Gundy elects to punt it and it pays off when it bounces into Braylin Presley’s bread basket at the 1-yard line.
• And it really pays off now. The Bears pitch it lateral and the Cowboys get a safety. Just like they drew it up. Shades of the Central Michigan game.
• But the Cowboys go three-and-out. Then Kanion Williams makes contact with Baylor’s returner Holmes after he called for a fair catch. That’s both sides of the special teams spectrum on back-to-back punts. That will give the Bears the ball at their own 29.
• Richard Reese just jukes two different Cowboys and a decent run turned into 24 yards. The Bears play off that with a big play-action pass for another big pickup. Bears just marching down the field.
• Brock Martin just hit Blake Shapen from behind deep in the red zone. Then Mason Cobb made a huge play, closing on the ball for a fourth-down stop. Cowboys will take over on downs at their 7-yard line.
• Sanders threw a dangerous dart across the middle that was batted down.
• Preston Wilson double-clutches, and the Cowboys lose five.
• Sanders scramble play, y’all.
• Jake Schultz laid a mean block to get his QB some more open field.
• Cowboys defense stomped out that next Baylor drive after a Collin Oliver sack.
• Sanders is slicing up the Bears. He’s thrown some darts. He’s also rushed 10 times for 72 yards.
• Dominic Richardson got the ball over the goal line, but it’s going to be first-and-1. OSU calls timeout.
• Regardless, Sanders gets in on the next play. Cowboys up 16-3 with 27 seconds left before half. That was masterful clock management for Gundy & Co.
• Cowboys will get the ball back in the third with a chance to take a three-score lead early in the second.
• That’s the fewest points by Baylor in a first half at home since the Cowboys beat them in 2019.
• And the Cowboys take that three-score lead without Spencer Sanders even taking the field. Jaden Nixon takes the opening kickoff of the second half to the Bear cave (???). Need to work on my puns.
• Tyler Lacy was apparently taken off in a cart. Not sure what happened but the Cowboys appear to be missing him on the Bears’ first second-half drive.
• And then Shapen finds Moaray Baldwin for DEEEEP ball. Bears pull within 23-10 on a 49-yard TD.
• Dominic Richardson somehow only has 44 rushing yards.
• And Spencer Sanders throws an interception. Baylor defender just jumped the out route and stepped right in front of the ball. Bears take over in OSU territory.
• Richard Reese is a dude.
• Looks like Tyler Lacy is back from his mysterious injury.
• Bears score to pull within 23-17. That’s back-to-back TDs after OSU’s kickoff return score.
• The very next pass after his interception, Spencer Sanders finds Braydon Johnson for 49 yards.
• Braydon Johnson: Homerun Threat. He was called out at the 1. Dominic Richardson scores on the next play. Cowboys take back some momentum, up 30-17.
• Baylor goes for it on fourth-and-2 in its own territory, and the pass is incomplete. Baylor is 0-for-2 on fourth downs. Pokes take over at the Baylor 33.
• John Paul Richardson just slung a 32-yard pass to Bryson Green. JPR wanted six!
• OSU had a few tries at the one and came up short … again. Ghost of Arlington?
• This time the Cowboys are able to afford to kick a field goal from the 1. Tanner Brown makes it 33-17.
• On fourth-and-5 from their own 29-yard line, Baylor scored a 70-yard touchdown. Not so sure OSU could afford that field goal, now that I think about it.
• Jaden Nixon fumbles his kickoff return, but OSU recovers.
• Momentum might be shifting.
• Trace Ford gets his mitts on more footballs than Vincent Taylor.
• Following that 70-yard score, Shapen throws back-to-back picks thanks to Thomas Harper (off of Gavin Holmes’ hands) and the most Jason Taylor play ever.

Here Are 10 Ideas For The Adventurous Bucket-List Traveler – TheTravel https://collincountynewsonline.com/here-are-10-ideas-for-the-adventurous-bucket-list-traveler-thetravel/
There are all different types of travelers out there, from broke backpackers to luxurious honeymooners to the one that only joins organized, curated tour groups. Then… there are the serious adventure bucket-list tickers, constantly trying to outdo themselves and everyone around them by going on the most epic of adventures. If you fall into the latter category, this list is for you, with 10 ideas to spark some inspiration for your bucket list.
10 Visit All 7 Continents
If you’re a bucket list traveler, it’s likely this is already on your list, but in case it’s not, here’s your reminder that it should be! All seven continents include North America, Oceania, South America, Africa, Asia, Europe, and the least visited one of Antarctica. Start planning out when you can go to each one, and if your budget is tight, visit them in the low season. Pro-tip: the Northern Hemisphere’s winter is the Southern Hemisphere’s summer, and vice-versa, meaning spots such as Brazil and Ecuador are bound to be packed in January and February but likely less busy in months such as May and June. Another pro-tip: Antarctica can only be visited from November-March.
9 Visit 7 New Wonders Of The World
The 7 New Wonders of the World include the Taj Mahal in Agra, India; the Colosseum in Rome, Italy; The Great Wall of China in Beijing, China; Christ the Redeemer statue in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Petra in Petra, Jordan; Chichen Itza in Yucatan, Mexico; and Machu Picchu in Cusco, Peru. Not many people can say they’ve visited all seven new wonders of the world, and before the list changes (which it frequently does), jump on the bandwagon and start planning how to see all of them.
8 Climb Mount Kilimanjaro
If you want serious bragging rights, nothing will top casually bringing up that you hiked Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa’s highest peak. You’d be surprised to know you don’t need a ton of physical training to successfully hike Kilimanjaro; you likely need some form of anti-altitude sickness pill, as well as serious mental stamina. Note that it is required to hire a guide for Kilimanjaro, and it will likely cost in the $1500-$2000 range just for the guide, and you are expected to tip on top of it. That price might sound steep, but hiking Kilimanjaro takes an average of 6-8 days, and that price includes all of your meals, your sleeping tent, and equipment, as well as porters carrying all of your stuff. Go for an adrenaline-infused hike with the best of the best.
7 Get Scuba Certified In The Great Barrier Reef
There’s no better way to really get away from it all than by scuba diving underwater and joining the magical world of the sea. If you are looking to get certified in one of the best places in the world for diving, The Great Barrier Reef should be on your bucket list. You’ll have to spend four days learning diving and safety techniques, with the first two days being in a classroom with an outdoor pool and the last two days being in the ocean itself. Be prepared to swim alongside turtles, and clownfish, and see exciting sights such as large clams and reef sharks taking a nap (they sleep during the day). After four days, as long as you follow protocol and successfully complete all of your tasks, you’ll officially be PADI-scuba certified at one of the most epic places to do so.
6 Visit The 7 Wonders Of Nature
The new seven wonders of the world is not the only list that deserves attention. Have you heard of the seven wonders of nature? The list includes Komodo Island in Indonesia, Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, Jeju Island in Korea, The Amazon in South America (spanning several countries), the Puerto Princesa Underground River in The Philippines, Iguazu Falls in Argentina and Brazil, and Table Mountain in South Africa. Some of these locations overlap with the 7 new wonders of the world, so you might as well kill two birds with one stone and see them!
5 Visit Every Country In The World
Did you know more people have been to space than those who have visited every country in the world? Though people in the past have accomplished this very difficult and tricky feat, recent additions to the “every-country” list are Lexie Alford, Drew Binsky, Cassie de Pecol, Jessica Nabongo, and Alvaro Rojas, to name a few. Visiting every country includes hassles like finding funding, obtaining hard-to-get visas, and traveling to places with serious political conflict, but if you’re a hungry traveler looking for the ultimate adventure, this is probably the one.
4 Visit “Forbidden” Places
Are you less interested in popular vacation spots such as Paris and the Bahamas and keener on the road less traveled? There are some places that receive very little tourism, either due to instability or just not having the infrastructure to market themselves as touristic destinations. If you’re looking for a truly forbidden getaway, head to somewhere like Socotra Island in Yemen, Iraqi Kurdistan, or even North Korea, though keep in mind Americans can no longer visit North Korea due to the death of Otto Warmbier in 2017.
3 Visit 2 (Or More) Countries In One Day
There are a few unique places in the world where it’s possible to multi-country hop in a singular day. Head to northern Thailand, and hop over to Laos and Myanmar in the span of a day (though prepare a lot of time for border crossings). Take a stroll from southern Brazil into Paraguay. Better yet, visit Iguazu Falls (pictured above), where one side is in Argentina, and one side is in Brazil. Italy has two landlocked nations within its borders, The Vatican and San Marino. Take an Eastern European road trip, and you can easily hit Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, and possibly Montenegro and/or Bosnia and Herzegovina all in a day.
2 Take a Foreign Road-Trip
via Kaitlyn Rosati
What’s better than having the ultimate freedom to choose where to go when on a trip abroad? Be in the driver’s seat of your own adventure, literally, and rent a car abroad. A foreign road trip, especially in a place like New Zealand or Iceland, where driving is somewhat of a necessity, is an adventure that is not to be missed. If you really want to go for it, rent a camper van and sleep in your car as well.
1 Break A Travel Guinness World Record
This is a tough one with a lot of logistics involved, but can you think of anything more epic than being a Guinness World Record holder? Current records include visiting the most countries in a singular day with 19 countries visited in 23 hours and 33 minutes, being the youngest person to visit every country in the world at age 21, visiting the most UNESCO World Heritage Sites in a day (visiting 23), and plenty more. Take a look at Guinness World Records, and try to break one that already exists, or create your own!

UK’s Truss Sticks By Economic Plan As Her Party Worries – 69News WFMZ-TV https://collincountynewsonline.com/uks-truss-sticks-by-economic-plan-as-her-party-worries-69news-wfmz-tv/
LONDON (AP) — British Prime Minister Liz Truss said Sunday that she could have done a better job “laying the ground” for her package of unfunded tax cuts, but insisted she would push on with an economic plan that has caused turmoil on financial markets and weakened the country’s public finances.
Truss acknowledged that the U.K. faces “a very turbulent and stormy time,” but said her policies would lead to a “high-growth, low-tax economy” in the longer term.
The comments are unlikely to calm Truss’ Conservative Party, which opens its four-day annual conference on Sunday in the central England city of Birmingham amid plunging poll ratings and growing public discontent.
Truss took office less than a month ago, promising to radically reshape Britain’s economy to end years of sluggish growth. But the government’s Sept. 23 announcement of a stimulus package that includes 45 billion pounds ($50 billion) in tax cuts, to be paid for by government borrowing, sent the pound tumbling to a record low against the dollar.
The Bank of England was forced to intervene to prop up the bond market, and fears that the bank will soon hike interest rates caused mortgage lenders to withdraw their cheapest deals, causing turmoil for homebuyers.
“I have learned from that,” Truss told the BBC. “I will make sure in future we do a better job of laying the ground.”
Truss stuck to her insistence that Britain’s economic problems were part of a global spike in inflation and energy prices spurred by Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
In a bid to calm the market turmoil, Truss and her finance minister, Kwasi Kwarteng, have said they will set out a medium-term fiscal plan on Nov. 23, alongside an economic forecast from the independent Office for Budget Responsibility.
Many economists, and many Conservatives, say that means weeks more economic turmoil are ahead. Michael Gove, who served as a senior minister in previous Conservative governments, said the announcement “will have to be brought forward” and some parts of the economic package will have to be dropped.
Gove said there was “an inadequate realization at the top of government about the scale of change required.”
Many Conservative lawmakers are worried that a leader chosen to replace Prime Minister Boris Johnson for her boosterish promises of economic growth has set the party on course for defeat in the next general election, due by 2024. Opinion polls suggest the opposition Labour Party is opening up a substantial lead.
“I will do what I can to win the hearts and minds of my colleagues across the Conservative Party,” Truss said – but that doesn’t appear to include changing course.
Truss said she wouldn’t ditch the most unpopular part of her economic package, a decision to scrap the top 45% rate of income tax paid on earnings above 150,000 pounds ($167,000) a year. And she wouldn’t say whether there will have to be cuts to welfare and public services to pay for lower taxes.
“I think there has been too much focus in politics on the optics or how things look,” Truss said. She said she was confident her policies would get the economy growing by 2.5% a year — a target the U.K. hasn’t hit for years.
Labour Party economy spokeswoman Rachel Reeves accused the Conservative government of “doing some sort of mad experiment with the U.K. economy” and ignoring “the anxiety and fear” felt by millions of ordinary people.
“The idea that trickle-down economics is somehow going to deliver the 2.5% growth we all want to see is for the birds,” Reeves told the BBC.

September is healthy aging month, an annual observance that is reaffirmation that, regardless of age, no one is getting younger and we are, (hopefully), as the old expression goes, “aging gracefully.”
In a recent interview, a 105-year old farmer in Minnesota attributed his longevity to maintaining an active mind and body.
For the second year in a row, America’s life expectancy declined to 76.1 years; the lowest since 1996. The two year drop of 2.7 years is the largest decline in 100 years. Factors included in the decline range from COVID-19 to accidental deaths, drug overdoses and an unhealthy lifestyle.
On the other hand, 97,000 Americans have achieved the distinction of being centenarians, a term denoting more than 100 years in age, the most of any nation on earth. Men should take note that 85 percent of centenarians are women.
As a healthcare professional, I am often asked for an opinion on healthy living. Although some may say genetics is the ultimate factor in our longevity, we can all slow potential medical problems by mere changes in lifestyle. So, if cardiovascular issues are common in your family tree, it should be a warning sign that exercise and healthy eating habits may reduce the chances of that occurring to you.
Driving to work early each morning, it is encouraging to observe Hutchinsonians starting their day with a brisk walk. And, in my trips to a local gym, it is apparent that more people are starting their day with a workout. There are days I almost want to say “power to you, and keep it up.”
Medical journals are unanimous in stating smart food choices, a good night’s sleep of seven to nine hours, avoidance of tobacco products and no more than a moderate consumption of alcohol are important factors in longevity.
Many non-consumption factors that are often overlooked deal with the mind and include everything from adaptability to change, maintaining a sense of humor, determination, optimism, and maintaining social relationships.
It is never too late to take control of your health, so let’s all make the commitment to do so today, and by next September we will be reaping the benefits of a healthier and happier life.

Perfume In The Metaverse? Beauty Brands Are Now Getting In The Game The Star Online
Perfume In The Metaverse? Beauty Brands Are Now Getting In The Game – The Star Online https://collincountynewsonline.com/perfume-in-the-metaverse-beauty-brands-are-now-getting-in-the-game-the-star-online/
Will we one day be able to wear perfume in the metaverse? It might seem impossible, but that’s not stopping brands from presenting their new scents in these parallel worlds.
In fact, Armani Beauty is doing just that by teaming up with Fortnite to promote its new fragrance.
A field of all possibilities, the metaverse now allows people to buy virtual fashion and accessories, to see exhibitions or to attend concerts.

But these new worlds at the frontier of reality are above all favoured by brands seeking to gain visibility among their prime target, the Gen-Z, which masters these worlds like no other – even if only a minority have actually set foot in them.
As a result, some brands have decided to go big, pulling out all the stops to stage initiatives in places where consumers are actually present – that is, in the world of gaming, a form of metaverse that is enjoyed by billions of people around the world.
Armani Beauty has now partnered with one of the most popular games, Fortnite, to promote its new men’s fragrance “Code”.
Evidently, it’s not a question of testing the new fragrance online, which is impossible for now.
Here, it’s about encouraging users to take part in an immersive experience called “Rewrite the Code” as a means of discovering the scent – in turn making as many people as possible want to try it – and buy it.
“In a world where time flows backwards, players race through maze-like speed runs to collect the numbers needed to unlock the Armani Code building and the Armani Code Parfum bottle, in order to harness its magnetic power to put the world forwards again,” explains the brand on its Instagram account.
Through this game, players have the opportunity to get acquainted with the bottle, the ingredients, and especially the scent’s wider universe.
Creating their own world, or a themed space in the metaverse allows brands to present their new products, while also building customer loyalty, and even creating a community.

Brands like Balenciaga, Gucci, Hermes and Dior – among others – have understood this perfectly, and have all jumped into the world of gaming and, even more broadly, into these new virtual worlds.
Indeed, these brands already have strong communities, and the metaverse can offer them many new possibilities. – AFP Relaxnews
O-Zone: Slow The Roll – Jaguars.com https://collincountynewsonline.com/o-zone-slow-the-roll-jaguars-com/
JACKSONVILLE – Let’s get to it …
Gero from Wenden, Germany
Hello, John. If I’m not wrong, we played the two games we won with white jerseys. For Sunday against Philadelphia, the white tops were chosen again. A good omen? Also, the players apparently said in the locker room that they want to get a win for Doug Pederson.
I’m not big on uniform-based omens, superstitions or witches’ brews. My father used to keep his glasses in a certain place when we watched Washington games, and we both sort of believed the positioning mattered in the outcome. This system worked well in 1991 when the team was one of the best of the modern era and worked less well the next season when a veteran team suddenly became an aging one. My wife has worn a black shirt with a Jaguars logo the past two Fridays and hasn’t watched the Jaguars play Sunday. She firmly believes if she watches Sunday’s game, the Jaguars will lose. This is silly thinking from a woman typically not given to silliness. If Jaguars players believe they play well in white jerseys, I suppose it could help. Until it doesn’t. And yes … Jaguars players want to get a victory Sunday for Head Coach Doug Pederson, who was the head coach in Philadelphia from 2016-2020. Eagles players also want to get a victory. The Pederson-versus-his-old-team thing is a cool storyline. If the Jaguars win, it will be played up. If they lose, it won’t have mattered much. That’s typically how these things go.
JR from The Squatchlands
What are the odds the ’72 Dolphins will be popping champagne this weekend?
Members of the 1972 Dolphins – the only team in NFL history to finish the regular season and postseason unbeaten – famously “pop” champagne each season when the NFL’s last unbeaten team loses. The Eagles are the NFL’s last unbeaten team this season. I’m bad at odds. I think the Eagles will win because they’re good, healthy and playing at home – and because I expect quarterback Jalen Hurts to strain the Jaguars’ defense in a way the unit hasn’t faced yet. I expect the Jaguars’ offense to not quiiiite be as efficient as last week because it’s difficult for a young team to be consistent enough to get into the 30s on the road against good teams in back-to-back weeks. But while I expect the Eagles to win, the Jaguars are playing well enough that I wouldn’t be surprised if they win. So, I suppose I think there’s a decent chance the ’72 Dolphins will pop champagne Sunday, but I sure wouldn’t guarantee it.
Bo from Winter Springs, FL
Remember all the preseason chatter about how it was the same old Jags? And how people were saying that in training camp that the Jags’ bad offense against the Jags’ bad defense would be us having high expectations and then disappointment again? And many people getting so upset about the “whole” game instead of focusing on the first quarter where we played better than every team we faced until the backups and guys who are no longer on the team played? Those were fun days.
Were they?
Bill from Hammock, FL
Zone, our first three games have been against fairly immobile quarterbacks. This week we are facing a very mobile one. How big of an issue, if any, do you see?
This is a big issue. Hurts indeed is the most versatile quarterback the Jaguars will have faced this season. Teams must account for his running ability and none of the Eagles’ first three opponents really have stopped him or the Eagles’ offense this season. I think the Jaguars have the skill set at linebacker with outside linebackers Travon Walker and Josh Allen and inside linebacker Devin Lloyd to play well against Hurts. I believe they can keep Hurts’ mobility from wrecking the game. But in a close game, I do wonder if Hurts can find a way to make one or two plays that could be the difference. That’s how I could see his mobility being an issue Sunday.
Kinney from Westside
I know you said be nice and I don’t mean it in a disrespectful kind of way but I am so happy we hired Urban Meyer last year. His lack of talent as an NFL head coach is the reason we were able to land not only our draft picks but the coach of the year. No way we get him last year if we didn’t get Urban. Doubt another coach would have wet the bed the way he did and get fired after less than one year.
Your first sentence aside, this was kind of disrespectful. And it certainly was not “nice.”
Sean G from Saint Johns City
If you look at teams playing back-to-back road games over time, I’d expect that record would be fairly low. This one sets up really good for the Eagles.
Back-to-back road games are difficult and – as with most things in the NFL – how difficult depends on the quality of your team. Good teams typically fare OK in back-to-back road games and struggling teams, well … struggle. This game sets up well for the Eagles because they’re playing well and they’re at home. The Jaguars have a decent chance for the same reason they beat the Los Angeles Chargers on the road last week – because they’re confident, healthy and playing well.
Charles from Port St Lucie, FL
These are the things about the national sports media that really irritate Jags fans. Adam Caplan on drive time this week said our punt game and return teams have been inconsistent. That’s a really dumb take that anyone familiar with the Jags wouldn’t make.
I was on Drive Time with Caplan this week, and I admit I missed this “take.” I also admit that when assessing heinous crimes against humanity, I would rank this comparatively low. But what irritates you irritates you, I suppose.
Charles from Port St Lucie, FL
So … we were at six-to-sevens wins before the season. A win this week … where are you at?
I’m probably around eight-to-ten now, up from six-to-seven before the season. If the Jaguars beat the Eagles Sunday, I probably would go up to ten-to-11. I would do so reluctantly, because I am at heart an aging pessimist who like to see things before I believe them, but go I probably would.
Bradley from Sparks, NV
Considering his age and ceiling, there are only three NFL quarterbacks I would trade Trevor Lawrence for without thinking about it (Lamar Jackson of Baltimore, Patrick Mahomes of Kansas City, Josh Allen of Buffalo and only two more I would strongly consider (Justin Herbert of the Los Angeles Chargers, Joe Burrow of Cincinnati). Thoughts??
I like Mahomes and Allen much better than Jackson, because I still wonder if Jackson will be as effective if injuries/wear and tear hurt his ability to run. While Mahomes and Allen are mobile, they seem to rely less on the threat of the run to dictate defenses. I would put Herbert and Burrow in the same conversation as the above three players. I might take any of the five over Lawrence because all five have proven themselves over a sustained period whereas Lawrence has begun to show consistency over his last three or four games. But if Lawrence is what we have seen the past two games …
Richard from Jacksonville
Do you think we will see a trick or “gadget” play if the situation arises?
Yes.
John from Jacksonville
Hi KOAGF – Enjoying the success this season so far but sticking with your concept of waiting until about Game 6 to see more of a better sample set. When do you think we’ll see the return of the long ball (both attempts and an actual completion)?
The Jaguars will throw long passes – and complete them – in due time. Lawrence, remember, connected on a 49-yard pass to wide receiver Christian Kirk against Washington in Week 1 – a play-action pass set up by two strong runs by running back James Robinson. Deep shots weren’t really part of the Week 2 game plan against an Indianapolis Colts defense designed to consistently allow underneath throws. The offense was working again with throws to the sideline and intermediate routes in a Week 3. We’re three weeks in. Game plans and opponents often dictate this. There’s no reason to believe it won’t happen.
Chris from Mandarin
If we beat Philly on the road, I’m going to poop my pants John. Please send help.
I didn’t see the part about “if we beat Philly on the road” when first reading this email. I thought it would be less disturbing with that part. It was not.
Chris from San Diego, CA
For the record, the Jags have won exactly one more game than at the same time in 2020 when the team went 1-15. How about we slow down the playoff/Super Bowl talk?
Chris is not “all in.”

Famed US Extreme Skier Gets Traditional Nepalese Funeral – The Washington Post https://collincountynewsonline.com/famed-us-extreme-skier-gets-traditional-nepalese-funeral-the-washington-post/
KATHMANDU, Nepal — A famed extreme skier from the United States who was killed after falling from one of the world’s tallest mountains was on Sunday given a traditional funeral at a Sherpa cremation ground as Buddhist monks officiated over a ceremony attended by family, friends and government officials.
Hilaree Nelson, 49, fell off the 8,163-meter (26,775-foot) summit of the world’s eighth-highest mountain. Mount Manaslu, last week while skiing down with her partner, Jim Morrison.
Nelson’s body was taken to the Sherpa cremation grounds in Kathmandu from a hospital morgue on the back of a open truck, which was decorated a poster of her and bedecked with garlands of flowers.
Family, friends, mountaineers and government officials gathered at the funeral ground, offering flowers and scarfs that were place on her remains, which were then rested on a stack of wood. Buddhists monks lit the pyre as they played musical instruments and chanted prayers while mourners lit incense.
Nelson’s family members had flown to Kathmandu for the funeral.
She disappeared on Sept. 26 and rescuers searching by helicopter located her body two days later and it was flown to Kathmandu. Bad weather had hampered the initial search.
Climbers om Mount Manaslu have been struggling with bad weather conditions and repeated avalanches.
On the same day Nelson fell, an avalanche at a lower elevation on the same mountain killed a Nepalese man and injured several other climbers.
Hundreds of climbers and their local guides have attempted to reach the mountain’s summit during Nepal’s autumn climbing season.
Nelson, from Telluride, Colorado, and Morrison, from Tahoe, California, are extreme skiers who reached the summit of Mount Lhotse, the world’s fourth-highest mountain, in 2018.
Nepal’s government has issued permits to 504 climbers during this year’s autumn climbing season. Most are climbing Mount Manaslu.

Jamee Jolly Versis Mihaela Plesa For Texas House 70 We Recommend The Dallas Morning News
Jamee Jolly Versis Mihaela Plesa For Texas House 70 – We Recommend – The Dallas Morning News https://collincountynewsonline.com/jamee-jolly-versis-mihaela-plesa-for-texas-house-70-we-recommend-the-dallas-morning-news/
The newly drawn House District 70 representing parts of Plano and southern Collin County is among the most competitive districts in the state.
It’s also a place that deserves a representative who is steeped in the area’s needs with a history of nonpartisan service to Plano residents.
We think that candidate is Jamee Jolly, who has worked in any number of important roles to help lift up Plano, with a special focus on ensuring that Plano is a thriving, business-friendly city.
We believe that Jolly, a Republican, will bring that same focus to the state Legislature. In her primary, Jolly, 46, faced opponents from the far-right wing of her party, but she didn’t waiver in keeping a reasoned conservative approach that did not indulge the election denial fever that has captured too many Republicans.
Jolly, former executive director of the Plano ISD Education Foundation and former Plano Chamber of Commerce president, also demonstrated a willingness to depart from her party’s leadership on the issue of abortion. She said that she supports an exception in cases of rape and incest, something a majority of Americans have made plain they also support.
Her first priority is property tax relief for Plano residents. She also wants to address the hundreds of millions of dollars recapture funds that Plano ISD sends to the state.
Her opponent Mihaela Plesa, an experienced aide to Democratic state legislators, is a strong candidate with a working knowledge of the Legislature. She also shares Jolly’s priority of addressing rising property taxes. She demonstrated a complete sense of the difference recapture makes in Plano ISD’s ability to properly fund its schools.
We differ with Plesa, though, on her call for a constitutional amendment to require the state to pay a 50% share of education costs. We fear such a plan, if it could be realized, would reduce budget flexibility far into the future.
Both support changing the basic allotment to ensure the state shoulders more of the cost of funding our schools, something that would further relieve the property tax burden.
Beyond that, the two candidates differ significantly on major questions around abortion, enforcement at the border and guns rights even as both present themselves as moderates in a district where moderate voters very well could decide the outcome.
In that regard, we do think that Jolly is the more moderate of the two candidates. Plesa, 39, takes pains to note that she has not worked for the Democratic Party but for Democratic elected officials. And she rightly notes that she has worked with Republicans to pass legislation.
But on balance her positions on major issues align more closely with the progressive left than with the moderate middle, with a particular focus on abortion rights.
Jolly, on the other hand, strikes us as a business-first Republican who is focused on the growth and prosperity of Plano before the culture war issues that have gripped the country. Yet she also seems to be someone who is willing to find middle ground on those issues that the far left and far right insist on keeping central to our politics.

In case you are looking to take a short break during an extended weened, here’s a good way to refresh yourself.
When most people think of Goa, they picture a beach getaway with views of glistening dunes and blue oceans with a glimmering sun in the background. In India’s coastal capital, where the Sun and sand meet, the environment is verdant all the way to the horizon, where it views the sparkling waters below. Goa is the smallest Indian state but also one of the most popular vacation spots.
North Goa is where visitors should go if they want a ‘happening’ vacation, while South Goa is where they should go for a restful break from their busy lives. Goa provides everything you could possibly need for a wonderful vacation, whether you’re travelling with your family, a group of friends, or your special someone.
Things to do in Goa
Visit the beaches
Beaches are a popular tourist attraction in Goa, and the state has more than 25 of the most beautiful shores imaginable, from wild party hotspots to quiet, secluded spots. The beaches of Goa are an integral part of every vacation, but those in northern Goa, such as Baga, Anjuna, Calangute, and Arambol, are especially lively because of the abundance of beach shacks selling delicious Konkan food and a variety of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages. Colva, Palolem, and Galgibaga are three of the quietest beaches in south Goa, and they are well worth the trip if you’re in need of some peace and tranquillity.
Water sports are a must
Try your hand at scuba diving, sailing a catamaran, jet skiing, parasailing, or windsurfing to get your blood pumping and unleash your inner explorer. Goa, and particularly North Goa, is home to several water sports companies; you can find them by the horde of boats and water bikes that are often parked in a single area of the beach.
Try some casinos: If that’s your thing
Goa’s many casinos provide some of the best betting opportunities in the world, so a trip to the territory should definitely be on your itinerary. Slot machines, roulette wheels, poker tables, flush baccarat, and other table games, as well as live shows and, in certain cases, free beverages and food, may all be found at the casinos. Even if gambling isn’t your thing, a cruise is a fantastic opportunity to unwind on the open seas. Casinos in Goa include the Caravela, the Casino Carnival, and the Casino Royale.
When to visit
Travelling to Goa between the months of mid-November and mid-February will allow you to enjoy the beaches and other outdoor activities without having to worry about the stifling heat of the summer. In addition to massive Christmas and New Year’s festivities, Goa welcomes tens of thousands of tourists every December for one of its most well-known festivals, Sunburn. It’s peak season, so you should probably book your flights and lodgings in advance since the costs will likely be significantly higher.
To sum up
Part of Goa’s appeal comes from the sleepless parties that go on until dawn every day, and part from the relaxed, old-world atmosphere that the Portuguese brought with them in the late 17th Century. You’ll find just as much, if not more, excitement in the churches, bungalows, and cafés as you would in enjoying a cool drink by the water. The allure of Old Goa is undeniable, and it continues to draw visitors. Goa’s abundance of stunning beaches along the Arabian Sea is reason enough to visit.

IMF Loan Support Programme: No Need To Panic Economist Ghana Business News
IMF Loan Support Programme: No Need To Panic – Economist – Ghana Business News https://collincountynewsonline.com/imf-loan-support-programme-no-need-to-panic-economist-ghana-business-news/
Dr Patrick Asuming
Dr Patrick Asuming, an Economist, has asked Ghanaians not to engage in “unexpected cash withdrawals” (panic withdrawals) as the Government prepares for debt restructuring.
He also urged domestic investors to continue to repose confidence in the economy because the International Monetary Fund (IMF) loan support for Ghana’s homegrown economic programme would restore macroeconomic stability to make them thrive.
Debt restructuring refers to a situation where someone who owes (in this case, the Government of Ghana) comes to the realisation that it will not be able to pay the debt as originally agreed, therefore, negotiates with the lender for help.
In such a situation, the debtor (the Government) negotiates with the lender (financial institutions) to either extend the time of payment or agree to reduce the amount that is supposed to be paid back by the lender (which is referred to as a haircut).
Dr Asuming, who is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Ghana, told the Ghana News Agency that the Government would go for domestic debt restructuring as part of the negotiations for an IMF loan support programme.
He said the Government would avoid external debt restructuring because it would affect the country’s reputation on the external capital market and its ability to quickly return to the market – which is currently closed to Ghana.
“When you have a treasury, and you want to liquidate before the maturity, you’re going to lose some money. But this should not be a situation where anyone would act in panic and say they’re going to take their money from any financial institution,” Dr Asuming said.
“The Government is really between a rock and hard place, but it’s more likely to have a domestic debt restructuring. The Government has been borrowing a lot and our interest costs have been rising, with Treasury Bills at upwards of 30. Therefore, it’s expensive to pay the debt,” he noted.
The Senior Lecturer said the Government would have to negotiate with domestic financial institutions for either an extension to pay its debt or reduce the amount to pay back – be it the principal or interest payment.
He noted that: “Whether the debt restructuring is going to be a delay in payment or reduction, it’s going to affect their (the banks) bottom line – profit, and hamper domestic investors,” the Economist said, but cautioned against panic withdrawals.
He explained that it was important for the Government to put out information to avoid speculations and said: “The Government must communicate and assure the citizens that people are not going to lose their money.”
The Economist said once the implementation of the IMF programme starts, times would be tough in Ghana with citizens having to endure some hardship for about three years.
He said: “An IMF programme would only help us restore macroeconomic stability. We must have a complete reset and change in mentality that we can depend on foreigners to finance our development.”
“Ultimately, we must look to generate more domestic revenue and build a more financially sustainable public finance system that is rooted in a structurally more diverse economy. We must do more domestic production,” he encouraged.
At a press briefing in Accra on Wednesday, Mr Ken Ofori-Atta, the Finance Minister, said the Government was yet to conclude processes for debt restructuring with the IMF.
He said, “We simply have not reached any agreement with the Fund on the parameters of any debt operations as we are in the process of completing the debt sustainability analysis.”
The Minister noted that the Government was still working with the IMF Team to update the country’s medium-term macro-fiscal framework to inform the designing of the programme.
Ghana is negotiating with the IMF for an expected $3 billion loan facility for its homegrown economic programme, which is to help the country navigate through the current economic hardship and improve its fiscal balances sustainably.

Here in Las Vegas, we know firsthand the devastating impacts that the climate crisis have on our city, state and nation. From extreme heat to droughts to worsening air pollution, the threat of climate change is clear, and without action, Nevada will only see more frequent and severe climate change-driven extreme weather.
In the Nevada Legislature, I have fought for climate action as chair of the Senate Growth and Infrastructure Committee by advancing clean-energy solutions that will cut carbon pollution and save Nevadans on their utility bills in the process. As Nevadans face record-breaking drought and rising energy costs, I know that addressing the climate crisis must remain a priority for leaders like me in Carson City and those in Washington, D.C.
At the federal level, the recently passed Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act are important steps forward for climate action by making unprecedented climate and clean-energy investments in our communities. Thanks to the leadership of climate champions in Congress and the president, these new laws will combat climate change, lower energy costs for our residents, improve the energy efficiency of our homes, and provide billions for drought resilience in states like Nevada.
The consumer tax credits included in the Inflation Reduction Act will help to make homes more energy-efficient by enhancing the affordability of heat pumps, rooftop solar, electric HVAC, water heaters and electric appliances. The Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act will also reduce energy costs for families and will make communities more resilient against climate change. In total, families in our state could save between $300 and $1,800 in annual energy costs.
Nevadans stand to benefit greatly from investments in clean vehicles, including cars, trucks and school buses. The Inflation Reduction Act includes a new consumer tax credit of up to $4,000 for middle- and lower-income people to buy used clean vehicles, and up to $7,500 tax credit to buy new clean vehicles. The bill also invests $1 billion for clean heavy-duty trucks such as school buses and city fleets, of which $400 million is reserved for communities that have been traditionally overburdened by air pollution. Through the Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act, Nevadans will receive historic investments in electric vehicle charging networks and other transportation programs to accelerate the shift to electric vehicles and slash pollution from Nevada’s roads.
These bills go beyond climate resiliency and consumer savings. They also create good-paying jobs. A 2020 report found that investments similar to those found in the Inflation Reduction Act would add almost 40,000 clean-energy jobs in Nevada over five years. Nationally, these investments could create up to 1.5 million jobs in 2030 and nearly 9 million over the next decade. We know that many residents want access to clean-energy jobs, and we want strong government action around renewable energy like wind and solar.
It is great to celebrate that Congress has taken long-overdue climate action thanks to the tireless work of Nevada’s senators, Catherine Cortez Masto and Jacky Rosen, and Reps Steven Horsford, Susie Lee and Dina Titus.
It is equally important to recognize that our community members, especially those in frontline environmental justice communities, still need and deserve more. At the state and federal levels, we must ensure that the implementation of the Inflation Reduction Act does not negatively affect the health and well-being of our communities. We must also invest in environmental justice to ensure that the neighborhoods most affected by pollution receive the support needed for daily healthy living.
While these bills are estimated to slash climate pollution in the U.S. by an estimated 40% by the end of the decade, President Joe Biden must take further action to follow through on his commitment to cut climate pollution in half by 2030. Federal agencies must implement solutions that will clean up sources of pollution such as cars, trucks, power plants and other industrial sources.
I am pleased with the progress our nation has made in addressing the climate emergency for our communities. However, the work for clean air, bold climate action and environmental justice for all continues, and further climate solutions from Nevada’s leaders, Congress and the Biden administration are vital for our future.
Dallas Harris represents the 11th District in the Nevada Senate.

There’s nothing quite like Talladega. The iconic track has served as host to some of the wildest races in NASCAR history.
From the 1973 Winston 500 — which started with 60 cars and finished with 17 — to the 2010 Aaron’s 499 — which featured a whopping 88 lead changes — ‘Dega is in the Pantheon of racing greatness. It’s even immortalized in a movie.
All of this is to say, Talladega is special. And with the Cup Series playoffs voyage making a stop at the 2.66-mile behemoth for the YellaWood 500, the stakes are heightened.
Playoff drivers are, incredibly, still seeking their first win in the postseason. Last week’s race at Texas was perhaps the wackiest of the four playoff races thus far. It had scary crashes, a weather delay and beef between drivers.
Everything gets magnified on a superspeedway, and given the wild ending to the GEICO 500 at the track in the spring, Sunday’s race looks poised to be frantic.

Apple CEO Tim Cook Does Not Want To Talk About The Metaverse MIXED Reality News
Apple CEO Tim Cook Does Not Want To Talk About The Metaverse – MIXED Reality News https://collincountynewsonline.com/apple-ceo-tim-cook-does-not-want-to-talk-about-the-metaverse-mixed-reality-news/
Image: Apple
Apple CEO Tim Cook continues to discuss VR and AR in a way that suggests Apple’s imminent entry into the market. However, this has been the case for years.
Augmented reality is a “profound technology that will affect everything,” Cook says in a recent interview. Life without AR will soon be unimaginable; it “won’t be long now.”
These are just about the exact phrases Cook has been pulling out of his rhetoric drawer for years when reporters ask about Apple’s AR plans. Cook already said at the end of 2018 that life without AR would “soon” no longer be imaginable.
So far, however, Apple has limited itself to simple AR applications with the smartphone, which cannot fulfill Cook’s full-bodied promises. In early 2023, an expensive tech headset from Apple with mixed reality mode is supposed to be launched or at least unveiled.
No Metaverse for Apple
Cook is skeptical about the term metaverse. He says it is important for people to understand exactly what a term stands for. ” I’m really not sure the average person can tell you what the metaverse is,” Cook says.
Apple reporter Mark Gurman reported earlier this year, referring to an internal source, that the M-word was taboo at Apple. Customers should not get the impression that they can use an Apple headset to isolate themselves in virtual worlds. The device is designed for in-between use.
Cook’s current statements confirm this attitude: VR is very immersive and can be used in a good way, says Cook. But you wouldn’t want to live in it.
Kündigung jederzeit online möglich
ab 2,80 € / Monat
“VR is for regular periods, but not a way to communicate well. So I’m not against it, but that’s how I look at it,” Cook says.
Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg sees himself in a metaverse contest with Apple despite Cook’s dismissive remarks, which he sees as a “competition of philosophies and ideas.”
Mixed reality headsets on the rise
Apple’s upcoming tech headset is expected to offer AR video mode and VR mode, but will look more like a VR headset from the outside, meaning it will have a screen on the front instead of transparent glass. In terms of marketing, Apple will probably focus on augmented reality.
Bytedance company Pico (Pico 4 Pro), Meta (Quest Pro), and Lenovo are also launching such devices in the coming weeks. The firms want to anchor XR headsets with AR video mode more firmly in the working world and in everyday office life, for example for virtual screens. However, Apple could have a clear advantage thanks to the existing office app ecosystem for software and hardware.

Business Want Stable Economics Says Currys Chief After Pound Collapse And Bond Market Rout The Telegraph
‘Business Want Stable Economics’ Says Currys Chief After Pound Collapse And Bond Market Rout – The Telegraph https://collincountynewsonline.com/business-want-stable-economics-says-currys-chief-after-pound-collapse-and-bond-market-rout-the-telegraph/
Running an electricals retailer is a tough job at the best of times but selling television sets, mobile phones and gadgets is only getting tougher as the cost-of-living crisis prompts cash-strapped households to cut back.
Last week’s market crisis heaped yet more misery on chief executives like Alex Baldock, who has been leading a turnaround attempt at Currys since 2018.
“Every business wants stable policy, stable economics, not least price and currency stability, and those things breed confidence,” he says. “We could do with some of that stability right now.”
Large technology suppliers were swiftly seeking to charge more for their goods after sterling hit an all time low against the dollar last week, threatening to derail Currys’ promise that it won’t be beaten on price.
“With all the heft we carry, we can resist that better than other retailers, but not entirely, and some price rises are inevitable,” he says.
Putting up prices is the last thing the 51-year-old wants to be doing as he seeks to battle a years-long decline in Currys’ share price.
“The consumer needs help through this cost-of-living crisis,” he says. “I do welcome the Government’s [energy] support, not just for consumers, but for businesses as well, that’s been essential and decisive. But equally, every business craves a stable environment.”
Businesses were already reeling from surging costs such as energy and labour as well as supply chain disruption. Smaller rival AO World was recently forced to raise £40m to shore up its finances, while global players such as Eletrolux have warned of a steep drop in demand for its home appliances.
Despite returning the chain to reasonable financial health since he took over in 2018, Currys, formerly known as Dixons Carphone, was forced to cut its annual profit forecasts in July.
The stock is down over 70pc since he took over and close to hitting just a tenth of its all-time peak, reached in 2015.
“Ultimately, that’s how this turnaround and I, personally, will be judged,” he says, nearly four years into his revival plan.
“I find the investors super supportive, they understand what we’re doing, they understand that we’re taking what was a good bricks-and-mortar retailer and repurposing it for the modern world by adding online [sales] and adding services.”
Baldock has earned a reputation for his cool-headed – some would say mechanical – approach to running one of the country’s leading electronics retailers.
During a tour of Currys’ repairs depot in Northamptonshire, an employee pulls him aside.
“Colleagues are taking the mick because I did an internal video after our meeting with investors and my [shirt] collar was sticking out,” the chief executive explains.
The uncharacteristic wardrobe malfunction was a rare occasion when he did not appear entirely composed in front of his 32,000-strong workforce – they were amused.
“When you meet him, he’ll come across as reserved,” says Lord Simon Wolfson, the boss of Next. “My view is, it doesn’t matter if you’re an introvert or extrovert, what does matter is the quality of your thinking and the effectiveness of your implementation, and he’s very good at that.”
Lord Ian Livingston, Currys’ former chairman who hired Baldock, saids: “He’s incredibly hard working, diligent and he’s a very good listener. He doesn’t get ruffled easily. Intellectually, [he is] very, very strong, which means he can process multiple things at once.”
That skill has been incredibly useful in recent years as Currys was forced to confront not only the transition to online but also Covid-related supply chain disruption.
At the beginning of the pandemic, Baldock closed all 531 Carphone Warehouse stores in the UK, to simplify the business, leading to 2,900 job losses. He later severed ties with some of the big phone networks to gain more flexibility on price. Click-and-collect services were added and live video shopping was introduced for customers stuck at home.
Currys is now focusing on credit deals and low prices in an attempt to drive sales and ensure customers don’t defect to rivals. It is also increasingly promoting repairs, rather than just the latest whizzy gadget.
“We want to help shoppers get started with a laptop, get the most of it, as well as sell them shiny new kit,” he says.
“The way we do that is through repairs. We have Europe’s largest electrical repair facility with 1,000 colleagues that has 3 million products passing through it every year.
“That’s obviously great for the planet, but it’s also good for customers’ pockets because in the midst of a cost-of-living crisis, repairing stuff is on people’s minds.”
Baldock insists repairs are profitable and a strategy worth pursuing. Pre-tax profits were up significantly in the 12 months to April, but Currys recently lowered its margin target from 4pc to 3pc through to 2023-24.
Some industry observers believe the retailer, which already commands a quarter of the market in the UK, will struggle to grow as it jostles for trade with the likes of Amazon and John Lewis. It accounted for 25.6pc of sales in the UK electricals market in 2021-22, down slightly from 25.8pc in 2018-19.
“There are real benefits of scale,” he says. “We matter more to customers, we matter more to our suppliers, and we have no intention of letting go of those. What we’ve said is, we will grow steadily.”
Baldock is quick to admit he has had a “comfortable and privileged” upbringing.
He was born in Dorking, Surrey, but grew up in Paris. “French used to be my first language,” he says, with no detectable accent.
His father came from a working class family and joined the army before becoming a salesman for consumer giant Procter & Gamble. He climbed the ranks to eventually run Guinness and briefly chair Marks & Spencer.
Baldock’s mother, “a super bright woman”, was his father’s personal assistant.
“Back then it certainly wasn’t encouraged to go into higher education,” he says.
Aged 13, the young Baldock was “packed off to an English boarding school” – Oundle, near Peterborough – where “he loved his sport”, especially rugby.
He went on to read modern history at Worcester College, Oxford. When he graduated, he didn’t have “a particular calling beyond a vague sense that I wanted a business career” and secured a job as a management consultant at Kalchas. He spent 12 years advising business, living in Japan, Singapore, the US and Switzerland.
“Partly by luck, partly by judgement, I ended up doing operational consulting and it was a great education,” he says. “You get to see a lot of business movies early on in your life, which you can draw on later.”
He then became a commercial director at Barclays and, three years later, the managing director of Lombard, a division of Royal Bank of Scotland.
“I’m sometimes described as a former banker, I don’t really see myself that way. It was a financial services firm that was rash enough to give me my first P&L [income statement],” he says.
Lord Wolfson dismisses Baldock’s modesty, saying: “He’s got the combination of: he’s very intelligent and he can get things done. Those qualities don’t always go hand in hand but they do in Alex.”
After Lord Livingston hired him, a rival retailer got in touch at the time to say: “You’ve recruited the smartest guy in retail.”
Baldock says: “This is a transformation that might take a little bit longer than I would have envisaged, there have been a couple of curveballs along the way. But I’m sitting here with enthusiasm, with passion and belief that we’re going to do it.”
