The Last Of Us HBO Show Trailer Teased By Creators – ComicBook.com https://collincountynewsonline.com/the-last-of-us-hbo-show-trailer-teased-by-creators-comicbook-com/ The first full trailer for HBO’s adaptation of The Last of Us may be released very, very soon. The Last of Us is one of the most acclaimed video games of all-time, receiving praise for its gripping and emotional story and complex characters. It is a game many point to when talking about the potential for storytelling in video games and helped seemingly give us a lot more cinematic, story-driven games. As a result of its success, Sony has been trying to figure out a way to adapt it for live action for quite some time. At one point, Sam Raimi was attached to direct a big-screen version of the game, but it eventually became an HBO TV series with Pedro Pascal as Joel Miller. We got out first glimpse at the HBO adaptation about a month ago, but fans have been waiting for a proper full trailer. It seems that it may finally be happening very soon. Over on Twitter, The Last of Us co-creator Neil Druckmann noted that there are just two days until The Last of Us day (September 26th) and teased some news for fans. Craig Mazin, co-creator and writer of the HBO adaptation of The Last of Us, responded to Druckmann with a gif of Ellie. The two then exchanged gifs from Mazin’s other show, Chernobyl, and The Last of Us. Naturally, this has led many to expect a proper trailer for the show on Monday, though nothing has been confirmed. The series wrapped filming over the summer and is expected to release sometime in early 2023, so a trailer does make sense right about now. https://t.co/c8iwml0mfs pic.twitter.com/nFJZxzYtYl — Craig Mazin (@clmazin) September 24, 2022 For those that don’t know, The Last of Us day is basically an official fan celebration for the game. September 26th is the day of the virus outbreak in the world of the games. The day used to be called Outbreak Day, but was changed after the COVID-19 pandemic happened. The day is usually filled with merch and other stuff for fans, but it seems like we could get something big this year. 0comments Are you excited for The Last of Us on HBO? UCF Turns Back Georgia Tech 27-10 – Tacoma News Tribune https://collincountynewsonline.com/ucf-turns-back-georgia-tech-27-10-tacoma-news-tribune/ ORLANDO, Fla. On a day when senior quarterback John Rhys Plumlee completed just eight passes, Central Florida scored on a blocked punt and rode four Colton Boomer field goals to a 27-10 win over Georgia Tech on Saturday. “A win is a win, no matter what it looks like,” said Plumlee, who has produced two games of 300 passing yards and 100 rushing yards this season. “What stood out today was our defense and special teams.” Plumlee did not complete a pass in the first quarter and finished 8 of 16 for 49 yards with an interception and two sacks. He carried 16 times for 100 yards to lead the Knights’ ground game. Plumlee described his performance as “bad. I think I’ve got to be better and I will be better.” RJ Harvey and Isaiah Bowser combined for 143 yards on 31 carries, and the Knights averaged 5.1 yards per rush. “We were having success on the ground so he kept leaning on us,” Bowser said. UCF (3-1) drove 71 yards on 20 plays, all of them on the ground, on the game’s opening series to take a 3-0 lead on a 21-yard Boomer field goal. Jeff Sims threw a 59-yard touchdown pass to Malachi Carter to give Georgia Tech (1-3) a 7-3 lead in the second quarter, but the Knights got field goals from 21- and 31-yards out and, with :41 left in the first half, Jarvis Ware blocked David Shanahan’s punt. Quandric Bullard scooped up the loose ball at the Yellow Jackets’ 29 and scored to send UCF into intermission with a 13-7 lead. “The big play of the game was the blocked punt right before halftime. It gave us some momentum,” said UCF coach Guz Malzahn. “When you go into the locker room with momentum, that’s really good in football.” The teams traded third quarter field goals and Plumlee charged 28 yards for a touchdown with 10:37 left in the game, then passed for the two-point conversion and Boomer added a 43-yard field goal with 4:17 left. Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste sacked Sims in the second half and Tre’mon Morris-Brash returned the Tech fumble 89 yards, only to be stripped at the goal line by Nate McCollum for a Georgia Tech touchback. The Yellow Jackets then drove for a 42-yard Jude Kelley field goal to make it 16-10. But two big penalties helped UCF on a 57-yard touchdown drive that ended with Plumlee’s touchdown run, which gave the Knights a 24-10 lead with 10:37 remaining. Sims was 21 of 32 passing for 314 yards and a touchdown for Georgia Tech. He was sacked four times. TAKEAWAYS Georgia Tech lost its ninth straight game against an FBS opponent but outgained UCF, 452 yards to 333. Eight penalties, some of them prolonging UCF drives, were critical, and linebacker Charlie Thomas was disqualified for targeting during UCF’s fourth-quarter touchdown drive. UCF did not post gaudy offensive stats but showed it could win with defense and big special teams plays when Plumleee had an off day. “We did give up some yards,” noted Malzahn, “but once we got in the red zone we came up with big plays time and time again.” UP NEXT Georgia Tech: Plays at No. 24 Pittsburgh in the first of seven straight ACC games on Oct. 1. UCF: Opens its AAC schedule Oct. 1 with a home game against SMU. __ More AP college football: https://apnews.com/hub/college-football and https://twitter.com/ap_top25. Governor Newsom Signs Senator Hurtados Landmark Legislation Ratifying Key Tribal Gaming Compact With The State Of California And The Tachi Yokut Tribe Valley Voice
Governor Newsom Signs Senator Hurtado’s Landmark Legislation Ratifying Key Tribal Gaming Compact With The State Of California And The Tachi Yokut Tribe – Valley Voice https://collincountynewsonline.com/governor-newsom-signs-senator-hurtados-landmark-legislation-ratifying-key-tribal-gaming-compact-with-the-state-of-california-and-the-tachi-yokut-tribe-valley-voice/ Friday, September 23, Senator Melissa Hurtado (D-Sanger) released a statement after Governor Gavin Newsom signed SB 559 a tribal-state gaming compact between the State of California and the Tachi Yokut Tribe: “For decades the Tachi Yokut Tribe has been a valuable partner in the Kings County Community,” said Senator Melissa Hurtado. “The Tribe provides scholarship assistance, job training and adult education programs, health and welfare assistance and other social services. I am pleased that the Governor has signed SB 559. The compact agreement will help support the tribe, its members, and provide long-term job security for over 700 employees.” “The Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi Yokut Tribe is grateful to Governor Newsom and Senator Hurtado for making this agreement possible. The compact creates an economic environment that promotes tribal self-sufficiency, and allows contributions to other tribes, the community, and local government,” said Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi Yokut Chairman Leo Sisco. “Moreover, the compact affirms the tribe’s dedicated partnership and government-to-government relationship with the State of California and solidifies the future of our people.” Senate Bill 559 is the vehicle to ratify the tribal-state gaming compact between the State of California and the Santa Rosa Rancheria Tachi Yokut Tribe. The Tachi Tribe will also provide $900,000 in good will to Kings County through an Intergovernmental Agreement, and will be providing half the expenses for maintenance of a fire station. The Tribe currently provides job security to more than 700 non-tribal members.

No. 1 Georgia Could Be Falling After 39-22 Win Over Kent St – The Killeen Daily Herald https://collincountynewsonline.com/no-1-georgia-could-be-falling-after-39-22-win-over-kent-st-the-killeen-daily-herald/ ATHENS, Ga. (AP) — Georgia hardly looked like the nation’s best team, struggling to put away Kent State. The No. 1 Bulldogs ultimately prevailed, holding on for a 39-22 victory Saturday, but their two-week run atop the rankings could be in jeopardy. Brock Bowers scored two more touchdowns and Georgia survived a sloppy performance and surprisingly gritty effort from the Golden Flashes. The Bulldogs (4-0) turned it over three times, struggled in the red zone, were burned on a fake punt and gave up several big plays to Kent State (1-3) in what was easily their worst performance of the season. Was it bad enough to knock Georgia out of the top spot in the rankings? Check back Sunday. “We don’t care too much about the rankings,” defensive lineman Nazir Stackhouse said. “We focus on us. It’s always a ‘we’ thing. We’re always focused on our development as a team, no matter where we are in the rankings.” Kent State had a chance to make it a one-score game with less than 13 minutes remaining after Marquez Cooper powered in from the 1 to cap a 12-play, 75-yard drive. But a two-point conversion failed, leaving the Bulldogs with a 32-22 lead. Georgia then finished off the Golden Flashes, driving 75 yards for Kendall Milton’s 1-yard plunge on fourth-and-goal with 5 1/2 minutes to go. Georgia coach Kirby Smart insisted that he wasn’t all that displeased with his team’s performance. He pointed out that the Bulldogs never had to punt, blocked a punt for a safety and finished with a 529-281 edge in total yards. But Georgia has plenty to clean up. “The fake punt is like a turnover,” Smart said. “When you have four turnovers, you’re gonna have a game like that.” Fortunately for the Bulldogs, they have Bowers. Coming off a three-touchdown performance against South Carolina, he took it to the end zone on the second play of the game with a dazzling 75-yard run. Going in motion to take a handoff, the sophomore tight end found a big hole around right end and never stopped running, turning on his impressive speed down the sideline in front of the Georgia bench. Bowers also scored on a 2-yard scamper, making it three touchdowns on three carries this season for the sophomore tight end. Or maybe he should be listed as a running back. “I guess I’m a tight end,” Bowers said. “But I just line up wherever the tell me.” Bowers strengthened his credentials as one of the nation’s most dynamic offensive players. “What a weapon he is,” Smart said. “He can line up and play just about anywhere.” But Bowers was the exception for the Bulldogs on this day. Ladd McConkey lost a pair of fumbles, one on a punt return when he probably should have called for a fair catch, another after being stripped on a catch catching a pass in Kent State territory. Stetson Bennett threw his first interception of the season, though he did score on a 1-yard dive, sticking the ball across the line while falling on his back with 8 seconds left in the first half to put the Bulldogs up 26-13. Georgia settled for three field goals by Jack Podlesny after driving inside Kent State’s 20-yard line, which allowed the Golden Flashes to hang around. “That’s a really good football team,” Smart said. “They proved that today.” Kent State was facing a team currently ranked in the AP Top 25 for the third time in its first four games, having already lost to No. 18 Washington and No. 6 Oklahoma. This figured to the their toughest test yet. But the Golden Flashes actually made things tough on the Bulldogs, who came in as 44 1/2-point favorites. “I’m really pleased with the way that our kids fought,” Kent State coach Sean Lewis said. “We have a really talented ball club that has gone through tremendous adversity and conflict in the month of September. They embraced it and got better because of it.” Kent State became the first team all season to score a touchdown against Georgia’s first-team defense when Devontez Walker hauled in a short pass from Collin Schlee along the sideline and took it 56 yards to the end zone. THE TAKEAWAY Kent State: The Golden Flashes have a lot to build on as they prepare to face teams more their size. Most notably, they put together scoring drives of 70 and 75 yards against a defense that had allowed just 10 points through the first three games. Georgia: The Bulldogs played like a team that paid far too much attention to all the accolades after their first three games. That’s just what Smart was worried about, but it gives him plenty of things to work on when his team returns to the practice field. POLL IMPLICATIONS If the Associated Press voters follow the same pattern they did with Alabama, Georgia is likely to get bumped from the top spot. The Crimson Tide started the season No. 1 but swapped places with Georgia after a surprisingly tough 20-19 victory at Texas two weeks ago. Alabama was hosting Vanderbilt later Saturday. UP NEXT Kent State: Having completed the brutal part of the schedule, the Golden Flashes open Mid-American Conference play by hosting Ohio next Saturday. Georgia: Travels to Missouri for its second Southeastern conference game in a Saturday night clash. The Best Underrated Survival Horror Movies (And Where To Watch Them) Collider
The Best Underrated Survival Horror Movies (And Where To Watch Them) – Collider https://collincountynewsonline.com/the-best-underrated-survival-horror-movies-and-where-to-watch-them-collider/ Ask any horror fan what their favorite movie is, and it’s most likely to be something like Nightmare on Elm Street, The Conjuring, or maybe The Shining. Not that there’s anything wrong with those choices, but a sub-category in the horror genre that often gets forgotten is wilderness survival horror. Maybe it’s not as easy to get spooked by the concept of starvation and exposure to elements from the comfort of your couch, but for those who enjoy exploring the wilderness, these movies can make you rethink your next camping trip. Just because a horror movie takes place in an outdoorsy environment doesn’t necessarily mean it fits into this sub-category. For example, Wrong Turn is about a group of people who happen to be stuck in the backwoods of West Virginia. They are trying to survive and get out of those woods, yes, but mostly because of the cannibalistic inbred mountain men that inhabit those woods. Here are a few basic ingredients to create a great survivalist horror movie. First and foremost, the main antagonist should always be sourced mainly from the environment. Extreme heat or cold, wild animals, infection, starvation, and dehydration are all things that can and will kill a person if they are not adequately prepared. The protagonist(s) will have to use their brains and available resources to survive. The Edge, starring Anthony Hopkinsand Alec Baldwin, is a perfect example of wilderness survival horror. Yes, Baldwin’s character does try to kill Anthony Hopkins’s character in the movie, but he’s not the main antagonist. The bear that is stalking them, as well as the extreme Alaskan wilderness, presents the largest threat to the characters. The fact that a flock of geese caused their plane to crash in the first place is just another example of the dangerous unpredictability of nature. With winter drawing closer, so many folks are looking to get one last camping trip in before the cold sets in. But before you plan your next vacation, you might want to give some of these movies a watch first. Image via 20th Century Fox Backcountry (2014) Image via IFC Films Written and directed by Adam MacDonald (Slasher), this movie really changes your perspective on who sits on top of the food chain. Alex (Jeff Roop) takes his girlfriend Jen (Missy Peregrym) on a camping trip in a national park. He refuses to take a map from the park ranger, stating he knows the park very well. He injures his foot early on, and when they make camp at the end of the first night, they meet Brad (Eric Balfour), who tells them he is a tour guide for the park. Insulted by how Brad flirts with Jen and insinuates that they would be better off with him as a guide, Alex takes Jen off the marked trail the next morning. They come across the mauled remains of a deer shortly before they realize that they are lost. And once they set up camp, a grizzly bear is drawn in by the scent of Alex’s foot injury, raising the stakes even higher. Traumatized, injured, and lost, Jen has to find her way back to civilization before the bear catches up with her. Backcountry is available to stream on Kanopy and Shudder. Jungle (2017) Image via Umbrella Entertainment This Australian film is actually based on the true story of Israeli explorer Yossi Ghinsberg and his harrowing experience in the Amazon rainforest. The movie was written by Justin Monjo (Farscape) and directed by Greg McLean (Wolf Creek). Daniel Radcliffe stars in the lead role of Yossi, who plans to venture into the jungles of Bolivia with his two friends, Marcus (Joel Jackson) and Kevin (Alex Russel). They meet an Austrian man named Karl (Thomas Kretschmann), who claims to know of an undiscovered indigenous tribe that he can bring them to see. After some trepidation, the trio decides to set into the rainforest with the Austrian as their guide. Without giving too much more of the story away, this movie will leave you having second thoughts about venturing into jungles of any kind, especially with a stranger. Jungle is available to stream on Roku and Prime Video. Long Weekend (2008) Image via Screen Media Films Another Australian film (to be fair, nature in Australia is especially scary), directed by Jamie Blanks (Urban Legend), this one is actually a remake of the 1978 film, Long Weekend. Also titled Nature’s Grave, this movie stars Jim Caviezel (Frequency) as Peter, who is planning a camping trip with his wife, Carla (Claudia Karvan) at a remote beach on Australia’s NSW North Coast. There’s palpable tension between the couple, which only gets worse as the movie goes on. Peter runs over a kangaroo carcass, flicks a lit cigarette out his window, and overall the couple displays an egregious lack of respect for nature. Not long after they get their campsite set up, nature starts pushing back against their intrusion. It starts slowly, like getting stalked by a possible shark, then getting a biting ant infestation at their campsite, but nature’s retaliation escalates quickly in this movie. It stands as a solid reminder to “leave no trace,” when you’re a guest in mother nature’s house. Long Weekend is available to stream on Roku. The Canyon (2009) Image via Truly Indie A newlywed couple decides to take a mule ride down into a large canyon with a tour guide named Henry (Will Patton). Nick (Eion Bailey) and his wife Lori (Yvonne Strahovski) are interested in seeing petroglyphs but are told they are another half-day ride away. Along the way, Henry is bitten by rattlesnakes, and the mules run off. Forced to continue on foot, Henry soon dies of his rattlesnake bite, leaving the newlyweds on their own to navigate out of The Canyon. They are faced with the elements, injuries sustained from attempts to climb, and a pack of ravenous wolves. So much for a relaxing honeymoon adventure. The Canyon is available to stream on Roku. Frozen (2010) Image via Anchor Bay Entertainment  No, this isn’t the movie with the singing and talking snowman. Written and directed by Adam Green (Hatchet), Frozen follows Parker (Emma Bell), her boyfriend Dan (Kevin Zegers), and Dan’s best friend, Joe (Shawn Ashmore) hanging out at a ski resort. Just before the resort closes for a long weekend, the three of them convince the ski lift attendant to let them go up for one last run for the night. When the other attendant sees three skiers come down the slope shortly after, he assumes it’s the same trio and shuts down the lift, trapping Parker, Dan, and Joe high above the ground. After Dan attempts to jump down, breaking both of his legs in the process, a pack of wolves sets in on him, leaving Parker and Joe watching helplessly from above. Nobody is coming to rescue them, they will freeze if they stay put, and they will get attacked by wolves if they climb down. Singing “Let It Go” isn’t going to get them out of this Frozen nightmare. Frozen is available to stream on Amazon Freevee and Roku. Open Water (2003) Image via Lionsgate Open Water is the perfect survival movie for shark lovers. Loosely based on true events from 1998, this movie is about a couple who charter a scuba diving trip on the Great Barrier Reef and get left behind by their boat. It was written and directed by Chris Kentis (Silent House). Blanchard Ryan (Beerfest) and Daniel Travis (Thank You For Smoking) decide that a scuba trip will be the perfect opportunity for them to spend some quality time together as a couple. They board a scuba charter with 18 other divers and make their way out to sea. The two separate from the group during the dive, and before they can rejoin, the boat leaves the dive site after a miscount of the returning divers. After they realize they’ve been left behind, the realization sets in that the boat will not be returning for them and that they’ve also drifted away from the dive site. It doesn’t take long for the resident sharks to start eyeing them up as their next meal. Will someone notice they are missing and send out rescue boats before it’s too late? Open Water is available to stream on Prime Video. Rogue (2007) Image via Third Rail Releasing Yet another Australian survival horror film, also written and directed by Greg Mclean (Jungle). An American travel journalist, Pete McKell (Michael Vartan) joins a group of tourists on a crocodile-watching river cruise in the Northern Territory of Australia. Radha Mitchell (Silent Hill) leads the expedition as Kate Ryan, a wildlife researcher. The group spots a distress flare further up the river and investigates, only to find a half-sunken wreck. As they get closer, something large below the surface crashes into their boat, damaging it irreparably. They manage to steer it to a small island in the middle of the river, but Kate realizes they are in the middle of the crocodile’s territory and that the river will rise at night, covering the island entirely. They will have to find a way to cross the river to the mainland before they fall prey to the gigantic man-eating crocodile. The crocodile in question is loosely inspired by a 17-foot saltwater crocodile named “Sweetheart,” who was responsible for several boat attacks in the 1970s. Rogue is available to stream on Plex, Tubi, and Vudu. The Grey (2011) Image via Open Road Films Written, directed, and produced by Joe Carnahan (Death Wish), this survival horror movie brings us back almost full circle to The Edge. You’ve got a plane crash in the brutal wilderness of Alaska, wild animal attacks, and tension between the survivors that put each other in peril. Liam Neeson (Taken) stars as John Ottoway, a sharpshooter working for an oil company in Alaska. His job is to keep the packs of wolves away from the workers who drill for oil. After his last day on the job, he boards a plane set to take him and several other men to Anchorage for their 2-week fu...

AHF Continues Call On Gov. Newsom To ‘Help People With HIV’ – Business Wire https://collincountynewsonline.com/ahf-continues-call-on-gov-newsom-to-help-people-with-hiv-business-wire/ September 24, 2022 06:33 PM Eastern Daylight Time LOS ANGELES–(BUSINESS WIRE)–AHF will run a full-page, full-color advocacy ad in the Los Angeles Times this Sunday, September 25th. The ad, headlined, “Governor Newsom: Help People with HIV” is a heartfelt appeal to the governor seeking his assistance to help prevent the interruption of care for over 1,400 AIDS patients in Los Angeles. AHF is asking Newsom to intervene and stop Medi-Cal from cancelling a respected 27-year-old AIDS care program created and operated by AHF—the only specialized managed care plan for people living with AIDS in California. AHF published a similar plea in the Sacramento Bee last Sunday (September 18, 2022). In late June, AHF received notice from state’s Department of Managed Health Care that it was not renewing AHF’s contract for the plan for 2023, leaving patients at the mercy of other care plans whose medical providers don’t have the years-long relationships with these patients—and may also not have the same degree of expertise in managing the care of AIDS patients. In its ad in the Times, AHF cites the decades-long, time-honored tradition of AIDS activism that awakened a nation to the poor quality of treatment of AIDS patients and reminds Governor Newsom: “You have had a distinguished record as mayor and governor supporting the LGBTQ community, which is most affected by HIV. We trust that you will continue to keep faith with us.” The ad continues: “Your department admits the reason for canceling this contract has nothing to do with the quality of care we provide but solely that we sought to mobilize our patients to advocacy. We are appealing this decision, but your department has openly said that it will cancel this contract while the appeal is pending. That’s just unfair and makes a mockery of due process.” Unless Governor Newsom intervenes or AHF’s appeal to California’s Department of Managed Health Care is heard quickly and it prevails, AHF’s contract for its managed care plan for people living with AIDS will sunset or end on December 31st of this year. AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF), the largest global AIDS organization, currently provides medical care and/or services to over 1.6 million individuals in 45 countries worldwide in the US, Africa, Latin America/Caribbean, the Asia/Pacific Region and Eastern Europe. But, like all of us, those patients are free to choose what they eat. The sugar tax has not stopped people eating junk food, though the effects are well known and cheaper, healthy food is available. Likewise walking, cycling and jogging are free, but despite many articles explaining why movement is good for you many choose not to exercise. It’s too easy to blame government for this. Whats Hot In The Metaverse For Consumers MarTech
What’s Hot In The Metaverse For Consumers – MarTech https://collincountynewsonline.com/whats-hot-in-the-metaverse-for-consumers-martech/ Consumers engaging with metaverse-style virtual environments are interested in a number of industries and activities. Topping the list of interests is music, according to a new study by Reach 3 Insights, which polled 401 consumers over the summer. The findings explain some of the live events and tie-ins that brands are launching in the metaverse, on platforms like Decentraland and Roblox. For marketers still in the wait-and-see or planning phases of their metaverse debut, this might help focus the effort based on where the interest is. Earlier this year, our own MarTech survey found that over half of marketers are planning a metaverse activation either in the upcoming year (25.8%) or in the next five years (25.4%). Dig deeper: How brands are joining the metaverse Get MarTech! Daily. Free. In your inbox. Hot metaverse topics. Consumers were asked what topics they would be interested in related to virtual experiences or products. Here are the topics, in descending order: Music, 68% Travel/ tourism, 58% Shopping/virtual stores, 53% Live events, 53% Gaming, 52% Training/learning, 52% Social/virtual get-togethers, 51% Food, 42% Health, 41% Tech, 35% Fashion, 29% Beauty, 27% Beverages, 20% Something else, 3% The high interest in music explains why iHeartMedia recently launched a hub in the popular 3D game Fortnite. And the interest in gaming shows some crossover appeal with game audiences who are early adopters of metaverse experiences. Dig Deeper: How the gaming universe is preparing marketers for the metaverse Age demographics. The survey was distributed relatively evenly across Gen Z (88 participants), Millennials (101), Gen X (136) and Boomers (76). Older participants raised the average for interest in travel, with only 48% of Gen Z, and 50% of Millennials, interested in that topic. Younger participants were more interested in beauty and fashion, with Gen Z at 43% and 44% interested in those topics, respectively. Clearly, younger consumers are interested in metaverse activations related to fashion and beauty. Under Armour’s ongoing Curry Brand activations demonstrate deep engagement and sales potential on the metaverse. (They sold thousands of $333 NFT virtual wearables in minutes.) Why we care. If your brand is lower on the list of hot topics, think of how you can tie your brand to an interest higher up. Take beverages (20%), for instance. PepsiCo has spent over a decade carving out a space in the gaming community, so they’re poised to attract users in the metaverse. And from the Under Armour playbook, star power can also draw their audience to your brand in the metaverse. Just as in the real world, all kinds of categories sponsor live music events, we expect a similar force at play with virtual concerts celebrity meet-and-greets. 10 Best Stealth Games DualShockers
10 Best Stealth Games DualShockers
10 Best Stealth Games – DualShockers https://collincountynewsonline.com/10-best-stealth-games-dualshockers/ Stealth games are not some of the most readily available modern-day titles, as the genre has kind of died down over the years. They require a little more thinking than the typical FPS game, as trying to take on situations without putting much thought will–a lot of the time–get players overran and killed. Stealth games are like giant puzzles that concern themselves with figuring out how to navigate around or quietly kill enemies. Some of the games that will be mentioned allow players to take on a more hands-on approach to combat, but, for the most part, these games rely mainly on players figuring out intricate ways to deal with their opponents. 10 Styx: Shards of Darkness Styx: Shards of Darkness took the original, which was a subpar game, and made it a better stealth game. The game has many flaws, but it still gives players exactly what they would want from a stealth game. There are plenty of objects and tools to help players take out enemies, and Styx’s skill tree is improved upon heavily. The game has many problems in terms of its actual combat and the way that combat takes place around the player. The game’s environments and stealth mechanics are great for those that love strictly stealth games and can put up with some hiccups here and there. 9 Volume Volume is a top-down game that is visually stunning and has a strong, enjoyable story about broadcasting virtual heists to put it all together. It feels like a Pac-Man game, but instead of collecting yellow orbs, players must collect diamonds. There are also various types of enemies that must be traversed around differently. The gameplay is key as players can use the surrounding environment as well as the few tools they are equipped with to distract guards and get past them. It’s a lot simpler than many games on this list but filled with heist-like adrenaline. 8 Batman: Arkham Asylum Out of all the Batman games, Batman: Arkham Asylum feels like it focuses on stealth the deepest as there are a lot of areas that absolutely require that gameplay mechanism. If stealth is not used, then brute force will get Batman killed. There are also parts of the game that are heavily focused on combat, but it’s still a stealth game that’s meant to make the player feel like the real Batman. Players will also unlock different gadgets along their journey that add to the diversity of combat and stealth mechanics the game places forward. 7 Dishonored Dishonored made a stealth game that felt heavily inspired by the BioShock franchise and Thief series. Each of the levels feels like a large maze that needs to be stealthily traversed. The game does offer combat options, but a lot of the time, players will have to combine these with stealth elements to take out enemies. The game allows players to complete its entirety without ever killing anyone. Going with an entire pacifist run adds more challenge and thought to the game. However, it’s important to note that killing more people (using stealth) causes some interesting end-game events. 6 Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is probably the best Splinter Cell game in the series. It takes on a true stealth approach. This is not a game that offers the choice of stealth, but that makes the player have to use stealth or risk failing the mission they’re on. There are many different ways for players to view the world they travel in, with night vision, infrared, and emf visions. These different modes allow for different stealth options. This game might not be as large in scale as some other games, but it does everything right in terms of providing a nice variety of stealth options for completing them. 5 Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time continues the story of one of the best platforming stealth series available. The game’s iconic characters emerge to drive the story forward in an interesting tale that surrounds itself with different eras that players must explore. The game allows players to play as all of Sly’s ancestors that he comes across. Each of Sly’s ancestors has different mechanics that specifically pertain to them, like being able to leap to faraway areas and, in a not-so-stealthy approach, pull out a gun to shoot at enemies. It’s a game with a comic-like style and entertaining variety. 4 Deus Ex: Human Revolution Deus Ex: Human Revolution feels like a giant cyberpunk spy mission. The game heavily focuses on stealth and is one of the harder titles on the list. That’s because a lot of the levels in the game require players to act perfectly in each moment, as making mistakes will be heavily punished with quick deaths. The game has a lot of upgrades that augment a player’s main character’s cybernetic body and allow for new stealth options like the ability to breathe in poisonous gas or sprint silently. The game encompasses everything it needs to live up to the definition of “Cool.” 3 Outlast Outlast is a stealth game unlike any other in this list because of its horror gameplay, which provides players with zero ways to fight back against enemies. The game focuses on players needing to sneak around areas while being hunted down by different types of enemies and having to avoid them. Each of the enemies in the game feels like a nightmarish antagonist as players will spend quite a bit of time navigating around them. Outlast is not for those who are squeamish, as the game is meant to horrify players while providing interesting stealth mechanics. 2 Hitman 3 Hitman 3’s gameplay is very similar to that of its predecessors, but the maps feel a lot larger and more alive in how players are able to take on targets. Each area feels like something that players would see in a big-budget film, but players can experience their own espionage-style hits in these large gorgeous settings. Each mission feels like it has more and more to add to the game’s mechanics, and all of this comes together in the game’s final mission. The last mission is a lot tighter in scope but still offers several distinct options to complete it. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has some of the best stealth mechanics ever added to video games. The game feels as though it is intelligently trying to outsmart the player as it will make situations more difficult by strategically place enemies after learning a player’s preferred play style. It’s a game with an open world that allows players to roam through it freely and form their own adventures. It also lets them take on missions in the best ways they see fit, with many players’ choice of completing missions being specific to themselves. There is a lot of attention to detail, as even the weather impacts the flow of combat in the game. NEXT: Most Successful Indie Games

Bidens Anemic Crypto Framework Offered Us Nothing New Cointelegraph
Biden’s Anemic Crypto Framework Offered Us Nothing New – Cointelegraph https://collincountynewsonline.com/bidens-anemic-crypto-framework-offered-us-nothing-new-cointelegraph/ The long-awaited cryptocurrency regulation framework released by President Joe Biden’s Treasury Department this month attempted to outline a plan for managing the burgeoning crypto industry. Unfortunately, the department’s assessment failed to embody more substance than a mere mission statement. While Biden’s administration appears to be taking a “whole-of-government approach” toward overseeing the decentralized finance (DeFi) sector and its ripple effects on the traditional economy, they are focused predominantly on defending against negative events — such as financial crime — and failing to facilitate positive events, such as the wealth-building opportunities that crypto offers to Americans excluded from the traditional big-banking system. The new framework was a follow-up to Biden’s executive order in March, titled, “Ensuring Responsible Development of Digital Asset.” Officials focused predominantly on prosecuting money launderers and Ponzi schemers across jurisdictions. That may come as no surprise, considering it was developed as crypto dominoes fell over the summer months. Those included the collapse of Terraform Labs, which led to an Interpol arrest warrant for its founder, Do Kwon; the Celsius Network’s bankruptcy; and the collapse of crypto prices. Nonetheless, these events served the healthy purpose of shaking out bad actors who were in crypto for criminal or self-interested purposes. An effective set of laws related to crypto that prevent illicit activity and promote peer-to-peer financial transactions would work wonders for crypto’s public image. The Biden framework, which is more reactive than proactive, doesn’t achieve that. Related: Biden is hiring 87,000 new IRS agents — and they’re coming for you As a nation, we don’t agree on much these days. We mostly want the United States to remain a global economic superpower, but we differ on how to do it. Stablecoins and other cryptocurrencies dismantle the power of federal currencies and allow individuals to accrue wealth independently, which is exactly why the federal government doesn’t like them. The Biden framework literature suggests digital currency is key to securing America’s future as an economic leader. But if it grants power over crypto to the same authorities who wield power over traditional finance, the status quo isn’t going to change. Instead of establishing the U.S. dollar’s “digital twin,” the government would be better off finding a way to coexist with alternative currencies. The White House’s proposed framework is a fucking disgrace. – Clear attack on proof-of-work by implying they will set environmental standards for mining. – Pushing FedNow over crypto – Framing everything as a potential scam or threat – Harping on volatility and consumer risk — The Wolf Of All Streets (@scottmelker) September 16, 2022 It’s time to move beyond the enforcement of existing regulations and to institute new programs that integrate blockchain technology into areas most in need of disruption, such as healthcare and big business, even if we can’t quite agree on how to address currencies. For example, keeping medical records on a blockchain — like Estonia’s highly advanced e-health system already does — would streamline and secure each person’s health data from birth through death, with each doctor or pharmacist along the way accessing an accurate history to make the best decision. Collecting anonymized, uncorrupted medical data is going to lead to better research, better treatments and more cost-effective health care. Related: Cryptocurrency is picking up as an instrument of tyranny Similarly, putting property and business records on a blockchain would lead to more accountability for big, opaque corporations that make bold claims of charity and sustainability. Such transparency would allow consumers to make more informed decisions about who they buy from — and bank with. The federal government should also nurture blockchain technology by investing in large-scale blockchain projects and incentivizing companies that use it to better serve the public. Going forward, let’s hope both federal and state governments will cooperate to write real crypto industry legislation, not just to mitigate its damage, but to foster its potential. Cryptocurrencies and other digital assets have the capacity to bring wealth-building opportunities to huge swaths of unbanked Americans, break up monopolies, and hold wealthy Goliaths accountable for their business dealings to a degree never seen before. The Biden framework is a lukewarm beginning, but we have a long way to go. Guy Gotslak is the president and founder of the CryptoIRA platform My Digital Money (MDM). Live Score: UCF Knights Football Vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – Daytona Beach News-Journal https://collincountynewsonline.com/live-score-ucf-knights-football-vs-georgia-tech-yellow-jackets-daytona-beach-news-journal/ The Daytona Beach News-Journal The UCF Knights welcome in their second ACC opponent in three weeks, hungry to treat their fans to a big win in the program’s first Saturday home date of the fall. UCF meets Georgia Tech, an opponent whom they handled 49-21 two seasons ago in Atlanta. Dillon Gabriel tossed four touchdowns for the then-No. 14 Knights as they blitzed the Yellow Jackets for 660 yards of total offense. UCF (2-1) turned in a terrific second half to pull away from upset-minded Florida Atlantic last week in a 40-14 victory. The Knights limited FAU to 18 yards after halftime; John Rhys Plumlee, Isaiah Bowser and RJ Harvey rushed for touchdowns in the victory. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech (1-2, 0-1 ACC) is hoping to shake off a 42-0 home loss at the hands of Ole Miss. Fourth-year head coach Geoff Collins is under tremendous pressure, considering his 10-27 career record and the Yellow Jackets’ lack of competitiveness in the ACC. Follow updates from Daytona Beach News-Journal reporter Chris Boyle down below. KNOW YOUR FOE: Geoff Collins on the hot seat at Georgia Tech ahead of trip to UCF Watch the game: How to watch UCF Knights vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on TV, live stream 6:55 p.m. | John Rhys Plumlee runs for crucial UCF TD UCF’s offense finally broke out of its funk, aided by a pair of 15-yard Georgia Tech penalties, as John Rhys Plumlee sprinted for a 28-yard touchdown to pad the Knights’ lead to 24-10 with 10:37 left. Plumlee has had a tough afternoon as a passer — 7 of 14 for 43 yards and an interception — but he leads the team with 83 rushing yards on 15 carries. Georgia Tech holds the edge in total yards, 373-258, but the Yellow Jackets have been stymied four times in the red zone. It’s hardly a surprise, considering the team’s rankings in Division I FBS entering the day — 121st in scoring, and 126th in total yards per game. 6:40 p.m. | Bizarre two-fumble play leads to Tech FG Well, there’s something you don’t see every day. Georgia Tech appeared poised to take advantage of a short punt with a quick scoring drive, but Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste rocked Jeff Sims to force a fumble at the 10-yard line. Tre’mon Morris-Brash scooped up the ball and rumbled 89 yards — only to be tracked down and stripped by Yellow Jackets wide receiver Nate McCollum. The ball went out of the end zone, resulting in a touchback and Georgia Tech possession. Sims engineered a seven-play, 56-yard drive that resulted in Jude Kelley’s 42-yard field goal. UCF leads 16-10 at the end of three quarters. 6:05 p.m. | Colton Boomer makes 3rd FG for UCF UCF’s placekicking woes appear to be solved. Colton Boomer made his third kick of the day, a 37-yarder, to extend the Knights’ lead to 16-7 with 9:44 left in the third quarter. The Knights produced a nine-play, 55-yard drive to set up the Boomer field goal — highlighted by 15-yard runs for John Rhys Plumlee and RJ Harvey. Georgia Tech went three-and-out on its first possession out of halftime. 5:20 p.m. | UCF reclaims lead with blocked punt TD UCF got a much-needed jolt before halftime, courtesy of its special teams unit. Jarvis Ware blocked a punt, and Quadric Bullard scooped it up for a 29-yard touchdown with 35 seconds left in the second quarter. The Knights are back in front of Georgia Tech, 13-7. The Knights’ offense has been inefficient to say the least, averaging 3.9 yards per play. John Rhys Plumlee is 5-of-11 passing for 41 yards and an interception. 5:05 p.m. | Jeff Sims’ long TD pass gives Jackets the lead Perhaps it’s too early to panic, but perhaps not. Jeff Sims found Malachi Carter in stride for a 59-yard touchdown pass to give Georgia Tech a 7-3 lead over UCF with 5:54 left in the second quarter. UCF marched 71 yards on its first drive, but has 22 on its last two possessions. 4:45 p.m. | John Rhys Plumlee tosses ugly pick near the end zone Georgia Tech came up empty on its first drive when Jude Kelley shanked a 32-yard field goal wide left. UCF failed to capitalize, though, as John Rhys Plumlee tossed an ugly interception to LaMiles Brooks on a deep shot for Ryan O’Keefe. Plumlee is 3 of 7 for 7 yards at the 12:26 mark of the second quarter. The Knights have gained 95 rushing yards on 23 attempts. 4:25 p.m. | Long UCF opening drive ends with field goal UCF drained more than 9 minutes off the clock on its opening possession, but settled for a 21-yard field goal by Colton Boomer to take a 3-0 lead on Georgia Tech. The Knights methodically marched 71 yards in 20 plays, converting a pair of fourth downs. Isaiah Bowser leads the rushing attack with 27 yards on six attempts. John Rhys Plumlee misfired on both of his passing attempts. 4 p.m. | Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste active for UCF Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste returns to the UCF starting lineup after missing last week’s trip to Florida Atlantic to a reported knee injury. Jean-Baptiste, a senior linebacker, participated in pre-game warmups and joined fellow captains Isaiah Bowser, Ryan O’Keefe and Samuel Jackson for the coin toss. Jason Johnson and Walter Yates started in Jean-Baptiste’s absence against FAU. 2:30 p.m. | Kobe Hudson expected to return for UCF UCF will take on Georgia Tech in its first Saturday home game, and final non-conference matchup, of the season at 4 p.m. Saturday. And there will be a welcome addition to the receiving corps as Kobe Hudson is expected to return after a two-game absence due to “personal reasons,” per head coach Gus Malzahn. Hudson is yet to make his first catch for the Knights, but he was Auburn’s leading receiver in 2021. He caught 44 balls for 580 yards and four touchdowns. He’s listed among the starters on the depth chart with Javon Baker and Ryan O’Keefe. Wide receiver Amari Johnson (ankle) are among the notable inactives for the Knights. Tight end Jordan Davis — the younger brother of Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabriel Davis — is set to miss an extended period of time, Malzahn said during Monday’s press conference, after an injury suffered on the opening kickoff of last week’s game at Florida Atlantic.

College Football Picks, Schedule: Predictions Against The Spread, Odds For Top 25 Games In Week 4 – CBS Sports https://collincountynewsonline.com/college-football-picks-schedule-predictions-against-the-spread-odds-for-top-25-games-in-week-4-cbs-sports/ Conference matchups around the nation add some spice to the final college football weekend in September. Saturday’s Week 4 action is full of top-25 teams making their conference game debuts for the 2022 season. Often accompanying that familiarity are tighter games and closer scores as teams with more intimate knowledge of one another serve as better litmus tests than the cannon fodder of nonconference play.  In all, three conference games will feature a pair of top-25 teams trying to get an early leg up in the standings. There’s plenty to prove for the likes No. 10 Arkansas, No. 11 Tennessee and No. 21 Wake Forest as they seek more respect within their respective divisional races against ranked conference opponents. In the Big Ten, No. 3 Ohio State and No. 4 Michigan will try to keep strong starts going against teams they’ve dominated in recent years. Capping off the evening is a Big 12 battle between No. 6 Oklahoma and Kansas State in what has become a trap game for the Sooners lately.  Be sure to stick with CBS Sports throughout the day for college football coverage from the opening kickoff onward. Let’s take a look at our expert picks for the best games in Week 4. Odds via Caesars Sportsbook | All times Eastern Maryland at No. 4 Michigan Featured Game | Michigan Wolverines vs. Maryland Terrapins Noon | Fox, fuboTV (Try for free) — The Terrapins will present a far deeper challenge to Michigan than any prior opponent, especially downfield with their aggressive passing attack. However, the Wolverines have been absolutely cleaning up against bad competition through their first three games. Many have waited for Michigan to make the change to J.J. McCarthy under center, so don’t be surprised to see the Wolverines also take a few more shots than usual. It might be a backdoor cover, but will be a cover nonetheless. Prediction: Michigan -17 — Shehan Jeyarajah No. 5 Clemson at No. 21 Wake Forest Featured Game | Wake Forest Demon Deacons vs. Clemson Tigers Noon | ABC, fuboTV (Try for free) — Wake Forest has found outright success or at least more competitive results against every other ACC team except for the Tigers, and the reason comes down to a major disadvantage at the line of scrimmage. Throughout the College Football Playoff era, we have been dazzled by some of the quarterbacks and wide receivers to come through Clemson, but the most consistent unit year-to-year has been the defensive line. That defensive front has overwhelmed Wake Forest over the years, disrupting all the intricate and well-crafted aspects of the offense. I think that trend continues, as does the trend of double-digit wins.  Prediction: Clemson -7 — Chip Patterson No. 20 Florida at No. 11 Tennessee 3:30 p.m. | CBS, CBSSports.com, CBS Sports App — Florida has won 16 of the last 17 games in this series, and the Volunteers have only won this game by more than 10 points once in the past 30 years. History aside, Tennessee’s status as a double-digit favorite seems to overvalue its win against a hobbled Pittsburgh team and undervalue Florida’s win over Utah. The Gators have looked bad the last two weeks, but there is enough talent on the roster — as shown in that win over the Utes — for them to keep things close against a Vols program that is earlier in its rebuild than a No. 11 ranking might suggest. Prediction: Florida +10.5 — David Cobb No. 10 Arkansas at No. 23 Texas A&M Featured Game | Texas A&M Aggies vs. Arkansas Razorbacks 7 p.m. | ESPN, fuboTV (Try for free) — Give me the Razorbacks, and give them to me big. Raheim Sanders, the SEC’s leading rusher, has been a terror between the tackles and outside in space. Along with KJ Jefferson, he will wear down this defensive front and pull away late. On the other side of the ball, the stout Hogs pass rush will exploit the struggling Aggies defensive line, putting Max Johnson and the offense behind the sticks. That’s a recipe for disaster for Johnson and a passing game that hasn’t shown a sign of life yet. Prediction: Arkansas (+1.5) — Barrett Sallee Wisconsin at No. 3 Ohio State Featured Game | Ohio State Buckeyes vs. Wisconsin Badgers 7:30 p.m. | ABC, fuboTV (Try for free) — While I have way too much respect for Wisconsin defensive coordinator Jim Leonhard to believe Ohio State will do the kinds of things to it that it’s done to its last couple opponents, I don’t have nearly the same level of faith in the Wisconsin offense to keep up in this game. Until Graham Mertz proves to me that he can be relied upon against top opponents, I won’t bet on it being the case. Lay the points with the Buckeyes.  Prediction: Ohio State -18 — Tom Fornelli Kansas State at No. 6 Oklahoma Featured Game | Oklahoma Sooners vs. Kansas State Wildcats 8 p.m. | Fox, fuboTV (Try for free) — Kansas State has quietly played Oklahoma better than anyone since Chris Klieman took over the program in 2019. The Wildcats beat OU each of Klieman’s first two seasons and played the Sooners to within a score in 2021. There was optimism that this could be the best team of Klieman’s tenure, but an inexplicable loss to Tulane put a damper on that. Still, expect the Wildcats to keep the game within two scores. Prediction: Kansas State +13 — Shehan Jeyarajah Which college football picks can you make with confidence in Week 4, and which Top 25 favorite will go down hard? Visit SportsLine to see which teams will win and cover the spread — all from a proven computer model that has returned more than $3,300 in profit over the past six-plus seasons — and find out.

___ Follow Paul Newberry on Twitter at https://twitter.com/pnewberry1963 ___ More AP college football: https://apnews.com/hub/college-football and https://twitter.com/ap_top25. Inside The Secret World Of Luxury Hotels-Within-Hotels – The Points Guy https://collincountynewsonline.com/inside-the-secret-world-of-luxury-hotels-within-hotels-the-points-guy/ Even if you’ve been to Las Vegas dozens of times, you may not know there’s a secret, ultraluxe hotel hidden within the MGM Grand. Called The Mansion at MGM Grand, this hotel-within-a-hotel consists of 29 “Mediterranean-themed residences ranging from 2,400 square feet to 12,000 square feet” all within “an enclave of privacy and pleasure where the sensual riches of Tuscany reach their fullest expression,” according to the website. Translation: There’s a little Tuscan village, exclusively for the rich and famous, under a glass dome in the shadow of the famous green resort on the Las Vegas Strip. And guests staying in that VIP village get exclusive perks such as private butlers, limousine transport, highly customized private dining, an exclusive pool and more. Sign up for our daily newsletter Interested in a stay? “Qualified guests only,” the website warns. But what makes someone qualified? The Mansion at MGM Grand. SUMMER HULL/THE POINTS GUY A representative for the hotel remained tight-lipped about who qualifies, but a call to the reservations desk answered a few questions. You technically don’t need to be a high roller or a Grammy winner, as I assumed, to book a stay in one of these villas, but a reservation request has to be approved by management, the phone agent explained to me. That’s because those managers give priority (and probably free stays) to the actual high rollers who are droppings hundreds of thousands of dollars in the casino. But if you’re gambling is more modest, or even nonexistent, anyone who can afford the Mansion — I was quoted $6,000 to $7,500 a night for a two-bedroom villa — can put in a request and, assuming they’re not all blocked off by the higher powers, there’s a fair chance the stay is yours. One word of advice: Don’t try to book a stay here when there’s a big event on the books, like a fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Also, don’t try to book more than 90 days in advance, as these larger-than-life villas (including the four-bedroom villa with an indoor pool) seem to be mostly set aside in case a true VIP pops into town. While The Mansion at MGM Grand is certainly one of the most top-tier experiences in Sin City, it’s not the only hotel-within-a-hotel in town. In fact, there are quite a few on the Strip. And now the trend of putting another entirely separate hotel, hidden or not, within another hotel is starting to spread outside the confines of Las Vegas. Hotels hiding in plain sight In its most simple form, a hotel-within-a-hotel is exactly what it sounds like: a separate hotel tucked away inside a bigger or better-known hotel. In theory, there are no set rules and a hotel-within-a-hotel can be whatever a hotelier wants it to be, from a set of luxurious villas with a private reception area to an entirely different brand or chain in the same building. “A hotel-within-a-hotel is a more elevated experience offering elite interiors, designated check-in areas, exclusive services, dedicated staff and upgraded amenities that are completely different from the host hotel,” Benjamin Kott, vice president of hotel operations at Aria and Vdara in Las Vegas, told TPG. Kott added that MGM has hotels like this in its portfolio, including NoMad at Park MGM and Delano at Mandalay Bay. The NoMad Las Vegas in the Park MGM is a great example of a well-known brand setting up shop within a larger host hotel. The Sydell Group, the force behind brands like Line and Freehand, originally created the much-loved NoMad New York, which closed in 2021. Playing off the success of that hotel, Sydell Group, which owns Park MGM, brought a taste of New York to the Strip in the form of a hotel-within-a-hotel, the NoMad Las Vegas, which has its own porte cochere, or private entrance. The entrance to the NoMad Las Vegas. MGM RESORTS INTERNATIONAL But that’s not the only one. The Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas is tucked away in the Mandalay Bay complex and the Nobu Hotel Las Vegas, the very first in the Nobu hotel empire that’s sweeping the globe, is found in Caesars Palace. While each of these hotels is different in what it offers, one of the big perks is that guests in the more exclusive (often more expensive) hotels can still use the amenities of what Kott called the “host” hotel. At the Four Seasons in Las Vegas, for example, guests can swim in the private Four Seasons pool or take advantage of Mandalay Bay’s massive pool complex and its real-sand beach. FOUR SEASONS But there’s another type of hotel-within-a-hotel — one that’s created by and within the host hotel to offer an elevated, luxurious experience for someone looking for something beyond just a place to sleep at night. “As the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas sees a variety of visitors from all over the globe who travel to the city with specific tastes and interests,” said Kott. “We’re seeing now, more than ever, that our guests want an elevated stay and experiences that showcase more customer service and amenities and hotels-within-hotels offer all that and more.” At his hotel, Aria, there are actually two hotel-within-a-hotel experiences: Aria Sky Suites and Sky Villas, both of which just went through head-to-toe remodels. At Sky Suites, there are 400 suites with one to multiple bedrooms that can be booked directly online by anyone willing to shell out upward of $1,100 per night. A Sky Suites one-bedroom penthouse. MGM RESORTS INTERNATIONAL The Sky Villas are akin to The Mansion at MGM Grand, requiring management approval to release one of the resort’s top-tier rooms that would otherwise be given to a high roller. Calling to see what kind of price we might be looking at for one of the Sky Villas, a phone representative said he recently saw managers approve a three-bedroom suite for $20,000 a night and smaller rooms (they start at 2,000 square feet, so not that small) for between $10,000 and $12,000 a night. But hey, that’s the price of exclusivity. “Aria Sky Suites and Sky Villas at Aria are definitely separate experiences from Aria itself in that they both offer complimentary luxury transportation to and from the airport,” Kott explained. “They also have their own separate entrance and designated check-in area, a separate pool area and a 24-hour concierge that gives Sky Suites and Sky Villa guests effortless access to some of the city’s best offerings.” And if you’re curious if these hotels-within-hotels are competing against their host hotels, the answer is a simple no, according to Kott. “It’s a different kind of clientele so it doesn’t compete.” Beyond Las Vegas Though Las Vegas may hold the crown for most hotel-within-a-hotel experiences, it’s not the only place you can find the concept. One place to look for it is Miami, where there are a number of properties offering a secret (or not-so-secret) hotel within another. At the storied Eden Roc Miami Beach, which opened in 1955 to the sounds of a live Harry Belafonte performance, would-be guests can book a stay at Nobu Hotel Miami Beach, which has a pool for guests 21 and older and a private beach area. Marriott got in on the action by opening The Hotel Beaux Arts, part of the Autograph Collection, on the top floors of the JW Marriott Marquis Miami. There, guests might not have the same exclusive perks as in Vegas, but guests can have a more boutique stay in the room while enjoying shared amenities between the two like the Enliven Spa, a 19th-floor pool, virtual bowling and even basketball courts. Up in Palm Beach, Florida, guests can always expect a luxurious stay at The Breakers, a palatial oceanfront property that dates back to the late 1800s. But for a much more exclusive stay, check into The Flagler Club, a boutique-like hotel on the top floors of the resort that comes with Telsa chauffeur service, a private lounge and rooftop terrace, a dedicated team to help with any needs and more — all for about $1,000 more per night than a standard Breakers room. On the other side of the country, in California, San Diego’s Hotel del Coronado just unveiled an entirely new hotel-within-a-hotel experience, alongside its other hotel offerings, billed as “neighborhoods.” The newest hotel, The Shore House, comprises 75 one-, two- and three-bedroom residential-style accommodations right off the beach of the Pacific Ocean. The Shore House pool. HILTON Though the resort itself is a sprawling complex with accommodation types for every type of traveler, The Shore House is an elevated, luxury experience that feels more like a vacation rental with a dedicated resort entrance, a zero-edge oceanfront pool with private cabanas, a poolside bar and access to the resort’s other amenities, plus a VIP concierge exclusive to Shore House guests. Rates at The Shore House start at $1,299 a night. Bottom line Hotels-within-hotels aren’t a new concept, but it’s also a growing trend I hope we see more of in the future, especially at big resorts like you’ll find in Las Vegas and other popular vacation destinations. While club-level rooms at a lot of hotels do offer special perks like a lounge and a happy hour, having an entirely different hotel-within-a-hotel creates a truly distinct experience that can totally elevate a trip (and its price tag). So, the next time you’re looking for a place to stay, be sure to do a little digging. Who knows, there might just be a secret hotel — or Tuscan village — hiding in the shadows. Microsoft Release Work Trend Index Pulse Report – Tech Business News https://collincountynewsonline.com/microsoft-release-work-trend-index-pulse-report-tech-business-news/ Microsoft Corporation recently released the Work Trend Index Pulse report, “Hybrid Work Is Just Work. Are We Doing It Wrong?” in conjunction with the launch of new Microsoft Viva, an employee experience platform designed to help empower and energize employees in these tough economic times. Employees and leaders are increasingly at odds over what constitutes productivity, how to maintain autonomy while ensuring accountability, the benefits of flexibility, and the office’s function. A new approach is required to bridge this gap, one that recognises work as an experience that transcends time and space so employees can stay engaged and connected no matter where they are working. Satya Nadella, chairman and CEO, Microsoft says thriving employees are what will give organisations a competitive advantage in today’s dynamic economic environment. “Today, we’re announcing new innovations across our employee experience platform Microsoft Viva to help leaders end productivity paranoia, rebuild social capital, and re-recruit and re-energise their employees.” says Nadella To help leaders navigate the new realities of work, the Work Trend Index Pulse report points to three urgent pivots every leader should make:  1.     End productivity paranoia: 87% of employees report they are productive at work, but 85% of leaders say the shift to hybrid work has made it challenging to have confidence their employees are being productive. Leaders need to create clarity and alignment around company goals, eliminate busywork that doesn’t support those goals and listen to their people — 57% of companies are rarely, if ever, collecting employee feedback.  2.     Embrace that people come in for each other: 73% of employees say they need a better reason to go into the office besides company expectations — but they would be motivated to go in if they could socialise with co-workers (84%) or rebuild team bonds (85%). Digital communication will be crucial to keep people connected inside and out the office — both employees and leaders rank communication as the No. 1 most critical skill needed to be successful in their roles this year.  3.     Re-skill to re-recruit your employees: 55% of employees say the best way to develop their skills is to change companies. However, they also say they would stay longer at their company if it was easier to change jobs internally (68%) or if they could benefit more from learning and development support (76%).  Microsoft is expanding its employee experience platform Microsoft Viva to help companies deliver an employee experience optimised for the way people work now to address these challenges. Microsoft announces several new and enhanced capabilities coming to Viva:  In order to streamline access to Viva and help workers start their day on the right foot, Viva Connections will combine all of Viva’s applications into one location, and Viva’s briefing emails will offer more individualised productivity suggestions so workers can catch up on work, meetings, and learning. Read the new Work Trend Index Pulse report to find out when the new Viva features will be deployed. Lynchburg-Area Programs, Parks Aim To Encourage Healthy Living – Lynchburg News And Advance https://collincountynewsonline.com/lynchburg-area-programs-parks-aim-to-encourage-healthy-living-lynchburg-news-and-advance/ Dr. Cate Varney and P.E. teacher Kelly Walters discuss childhood obesity in Charlottesville, Va. Childhood obesity is a problem around the nation and in Virginia, and the Lynchburg area is no exception. Dr. Michael Jones, a specialist in bariatric medicine at Centra Weight Loss in Lynchburg, described childhood obesity as a significant and growing problem. “It’s really becoming a huge issue,” Jones said. “It is estimated that the current generation of children will be the first generation of children in modern history that have a lower life expectancy than their parents. And we think a very significant percentage of that is the obesity epidemic.” Jones spends a lot of time counseling and working with patients in the Lynchburg area who suffer from obesity and has worked in Lynchburg for almost five years. He said he has become rather passionate about talking to patients who are young parents on addressing their obesity. He uses that as a means of helping their children. “If you have one parent with obesity, you have a greater than 50% likelihood of developing obesity even if you were skinny as a rail all the way up through high school,” Jones said. The Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth was established in 1999 by the Virginia General Assembly and encourages youth in the commonwealth to make healthy choices by reducing and preventing tobacco use, substance use and childhood obesity. It did a survey in 2019 in partnership with the Virginia Department of Health, the Department of Education in Virginia and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Michael Parsons, director of programs for Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth, said officials went to schools around the state and surveyed high school students ages 15 to 18, using that data to get an idea of what programs could help youth. In the survey from 2019, about 32% of youths described themselves as slightly or very overweight, and about 18% said they were obese.  “Both Southwest Virginia and Central Virginia do have childhood obesity rates that are higher than the statewide average,” Parsons said. Parsons said the group is waiting for updated data to come in from last year, to see the effect the pandemic has had on obesity numbers. “This has not been a normal two-year period, and so I’m not sure what it’s going to show us,” Parsons said. “I don’t know what the impact of school closures or what the impact of a public health pandemic will be on childhood obesity rates,” Parsons said. Lynchburg Parks and Recreation has programs in place around the city for physical activity. Jennifer Jones, director of parks and rec, said one big way the city provides physical activity and infrastructure is through neighborhood centers. There are six such centers: College Hill, Daniels Hill, Diamond Hill, Fairview, Jefferson Park and Yoder in Timber Ridge. Activities at the centers include playgrounds and basketball courts that have been recently upgraded. Lynchburg Parks and Recreation is working on several plans, such as the Jefferson Park Master Plan and the College Park Master Plan. Those efforts are intended to bring new infrastructure, including new sports courts, new ball fields and natural playgrounds. Along with receiving the proper amount of physical activity, Jennifer Jones said eating the right amount of nutritious food is important. To that end, fresh produce is free at all neighborhood centers. “A lot of times what’s missing isn’t necessarily the activity piece, it’s the nutrition piece, and we’ve really focused on making locally grown produce available,” she said. Jennifer Jones also emphasized the educational piece. At the centers, there are programs that teach children how to grow and harvest their own food. There’s also a program called healthy eats in partnership with Virginia Cooperative Extension. In this program, kids learn the importance of healthy eating, the repercussions of not eating healthy and how to cook meals. Also, Jennifer Jones said Lynchburg City Council has adopted in its Lynchburg Plan — a roadmap of how the city will accomplish council’s priorities — a 10-minute walk program, which is the idea of placing a park within a 10-minute walk of every neighborhood. She said this makes people three times as likely to get the recommended physical activity daily. Overall, the parks and rec director emphasized that the department is conscious of this problem. “We’re very conscious of this; health and wellness is one of three pillars in parks and recreation,” Jennifer Jones said. “So you know we are super focused on that.” Get local news delivered to your inbox! ORLANDO, Fla. — Tropical Depression Nine strengthened into Tropical Storm Ian Friday night. This system is forecast to hit Florida as a Category 3 hurricane next week. As of 5 p.m. Saturday, Tropical Storm Ian was expected to strengthen rapidly throughout the weekend. Ian had maximum sustained winds of 45 mph and was located 255 miles south of Kingston, Jamaica, and 445 miles southeast of Grand Cayman. The system was moving west at 16 mph. “Tropical Storm Ian is expected to intensify into a Category 4 hurricane Tuesday/Wednesday then weaken on Thursday as a cold front moves into the deep creating a much more hostile environment for this storm,” WESH 2’s Chief Meteorologist Tony Mainolfi said. See the latest maps, models and paths here Below: WESH 2 Chief Meteorologist Tony Mainolfi digs deep into latest models “Ian is expected to remain a major hurricane when it moves generally northward across the eastern Gulf of Mexico during the middle of next week, but uncertainty in the track forecast is higher than usual,” the National Hurricane Center wrote. “Regardless of Ian’s exact track, there is a risk of dangerous storm surge, hurricane-force winds, and heavy rainfall along the west coast of Florida and the Florida Panhandle by the middle of next week, and residents in Florida should ensure they have their hurricane plan in place, follow any advice given by local officials, and closely monitor updates to the forecast.” This content is imported from Twitter. Slime Rancher 2: All Gordo Slime Locations EXputer
Slime Rancher 2: All Gordo Slime Locations – EXputer https://collincountynewsonline.com/slime-rancher-2-all-gordo-slime-locations-exputer/ The cute and squishy slimes are here, finally. As a player, you will know all about the Gordo Slime locations in Slime Rancher 2 in our guide. Slime Rancher 2 is a sequel to the first Slime Rancher game that was released back in 2017. You can also check out our guide on how to get a jetpack in Slime Rancher 2 and upgrade it as well.  Moreover, as Beatrix LeBeau, you will get to discover new lands in a world far away called Rainbow Island. Other than that, players will also find out so many new slimes of different kinds, all possessing special features and attributes.  Furthermore, make sure to stick around and come across new islands and even get to farm a conservatory. The conservatory will be used to craft and create new types of equipment that come in handy while battling your way through Slime Rancher 2.  What Are Gordo Slimes? Gordo Slimes are huge, immovable slimes. If you want to burst them, then just simply keep feeding them more food, and they will eventually crack. Gordo Slimes can even get teleporters unlocked that are very valuable and also help in dropping several slimes. Furthermore, players can also get access to some areas through Gordo Slimes, which they cannot go to otherwise. Moreover, you will also come across around sixteen Gordo Slimes in the wild in some range areas. Gordo Slimes are created when several slimes of the same kind mix up. Due to this, slimes cannot move anywhere.  Gordo Slimes are also capable of holding a Slime Key, and players can also get the Static Teleport discovered through it furthermore, if you want to spawn a Gordo on a site of Gadget. However, you would need to get the Gordo Snare by feeding it. It is also important to know that the Gordo that is snared cannot hold any keys. Below, we have mentioned all the locations of the Gordo Slime.  Locations Of Gordo Slimes If you want to see all the locations to get Gordo Slimes, keep reading. As valuable as they are, knowing the location can be just as difficult. However, in our guide, you will know all about the different Gordo Slimes and their locations. Locations Of Gordo Slime, Rainbow Island. Cotton Slime Gordo The slimes of Cotton are loved by almost everyone in Slime Rancher 2. When you see them, the slimes will remind you of small round bunnies, and it would be very easy to be caring towards them.  Moreover, finding the location of these slimes can be extremely easy as well. To find Cotton Gordo Slime, players can look at the southwestern side of Rainbow Island in the depths.  Cotton Gordo Slime. Just keep walking towards the south from your conservatory; you can also get your map in your hands to find it easily. Furthermore, as a player, you will have to feed the Gordo Cotton Slime hell lots of vegetables to get it defeated. Pink Slime Gordo Finding the Pink Slimes of Gordo is the easiest task in Slime Rancher 2, and they are also very adorable. Players will instantly feel lighter and relaxed when they are in the company of pink Gordon Slimes.  Pink Gordo Slime Players can locate the pink Gordo Slime and move towards the northwestern side of the fields of Rainbow. Check the map once you have walked towards the west from your conservatory. After the players have gotten to the Transfer Refinery icon on the map, keep walking, and you will come across Pink Gordo. To defeat this slime, players can get them to eat any kind of food they can get their hands on and defeat it. The Pink Slime Gordo is not at all choosy. Phosphorus Gordo Slime A very cool and fun slime in Slime Rancher 2 is called the Phosphorus Gordo Slime. The slimes look like bugs of lightning and have these green slugs inside of them, and it is so hard to resist just squeezing and squishing them! They are the kinds of slimes that every player, and we mean including us, would want to have existed in our real world. Finding the location of Pink Slimes would not take much of your time. However, we have described its location of it in detail in our guide.  Once the players are in the conservatory, they should start moving towards the side of the south and stop once they have found a ramp. The ramp will be seen located near a water body. So keep looking for it around the water, and you will find it for sure! Moreover, on the ramp, keep walking downwards, and you will also find a cave. Head inside the cave, and you will see Phosphorus Gordo Slime in there. To get the slime defeated, make sure you feed him tons of fruits.  Hunter Slime Gordo Hunter Slimes Gordo is so cute that the players will love finding them even if they did not offer any special rewards. Also, the locations for finding Hunter Slime Gordo are not that far, nor a difficulty.  However, players need to make sure that they have gotten the region of Starlight Strand unlocked beforehand. After it is accessible, start moving around and discovering more of that place. Along the way, you will lay your eyes on a field where there will be several cute little pink rock slimes everywhere. But you do not have to stop there; keep moving and going further unless you come across a little pathway. On that way, you will see the glorious hunter slime Gordo. Moreover, players need to make sure they got a hand full of meat to defeat the Gordo Slime in the game.  Wrap Up These are all the locations of Gordo Slime in Slime Rancher 2. Make sure to look at all the places mentioned carefully so that you do not miss out on any slime. Get the slime in your hands and beat them by feeding them various foods. Best New Crypto Coin Listing – Is Tamadoge The Next Shiba Inu, Dogecoin Or GMT – Cryptonews https://collincountynewsonline.com/best-new-crypto-coin-listing-is-tamadoge-the-next-shiba-inu-dogecoin-or-gmt-cryptonews/ Disclaimer: The Industry Talk section features insights by crypto industry players and is not a part of the editorial content of Cryptonews.com. Tamadoge (TAMA) will list on OKX exchange Sep 27 at 11:00 UTC and aims to combine the appeal to investors of meme coins like SHIB and DOGE with a P2E game, incorporating metaverse and move to earn mechanics. Is the best new coin listing to watch this week? New crypto TAMA is the in-game currency and rewards token of the Tamadoge battle app, used to mint virtual pets tokenized as NFTs and earnt by players in its ecosystem. This week Capital.com reviewed the Tamadoge project – another indicator its initial exchange offering (IEO) could perform well. OKX New Coin Listing Announcement Next GMT Tamadoge raised 19 million USDT in its token presale in under two months, from July 25 – Sep 18, attracting a high level of investor interest despite crypto prices trending down – Bitcoin and Ethereum are still trading under $20,000 and $1,500 this week. That high demand eclipsed most crypto presales, private sales or initial coin offerings (ICOs) of 2021 or 2022 – for example the STEPN (GMT) token sale raised just $9.2 million, which included investment from crypto VCs such as Binance Labs, Alameda Research, Sequoia Capital and other big names. Coverage in CNBC at the 15 million USDT point may also have helped push the new crypto token’s seed round funding over the finish line a month earlier than planned on the Tamadoge roadmap. Yahoo Finance also highlighted TAMA as early as its beta sale. Across crypto news media, Tamadoge has made headlines in BeInCrypto, Bitcoinist, NewsBTC, The Cryptonomist, ZyCrypto, and others – TAMA combines the most popular sectors of cryptocurrency as a play to earn crypto asset, a meme coin and having upcoming metaverse and move to earn features. GMT at its peak hit a $2.5 billion live market cap – topping out at $4.18 with a circulating supply of 600 million (10% of its total supply, 6 billion). Its ICO price was $0.64, and its bull run took place while the Bitcoin price was in a downtrend – early March to late April 2022. Tamadoge will launch with a 1 billion circulating supply (50% of its total supply of 2 billion), at a listing price of $0.03 – an initial market cap of $30 million. Achieving the same market capitalization STEPN reached eight weeks from its launch would mean a TAMA price target of $2.50, an 83.3x gain.  Today since its correction GMT has a market cap of just over $380 million – which TAMA would hit at $0.38 per token, a 12.6x gain from its listing. Unlike GMT, TAMA is deflationary with an in-built token burn on Tamadoge store transactions – when players upgrade their Tamadoge NFT pets with accessories, or buy dog food. Having a higher percentage of its token supply unlocked at its IEO could also help support the price. Tamadoge also has no expensive barrier to entry like STEPN – in its M2E crypto game, players were required to buy NFT sneakers. The explosive bull cycle of GMT took place during a time period in which NFT sneakers had a floor price of around 12 Solana (SOL) – a testament to how popular apps that pay users in crypto are. Next Shiba Inu Shiba Inu initially dumped after its Binance listing (May 2021, and its Coinbase listing was in January) and hit a low of 0.00000510 USDT four months later in September It then exploded 17.3x to 0.00008854, mostly based on hype and FOMO – since then it has retraced most of its bull run, now trading slightly over 0.00001. At press time the Shiba Inu price is up, however its market structure is still bearish – printing lower highs and lower lows. Even after its approximately 90% correction from the top, Shiba Inu has a market cap of $6.4 billion today and fully diluted valuation (FDV) of closer to $7 billion. All with little utility or incentive to hold SHIB. Tamadoge could potentially be the next cryptocurrency to explode with its Doge aesthetics and more concrete use case, being the native currency of a play to earn crypto game – something Shiba Inu is beginning to explore with the recent launch of its Shiba Eternity P2E game. Next Dogecoin The Dogecoin price is up today by 10% – but at the time of writing its $0.06 – $0.07 price range is an almost 92% retracement from its all time high of $0.74 hit in May 2021 just before Elon Musk appeared on Saturday Night Live. Since launch, the Dogecoin total supply increased from 100 billion to almost 133 billion – DOGE is an inflationary asset with an infinite supply (no maximum supply). That aspect of its tokenomics will have contributed to its correction over the last 17 months. Terra Classic (LUNC) dominating the crypto news headlines in recent weeks for becoming a deflationary asset – the LUNC Burn is again in the news this week, covered on the Binance blog – will have raised awareness for many investors that deflationary cryptocurrency coins are a better investment. Tamadoge could also be predicted to perform well after its initial exchange listing, due to its deflationary tokenomics. Crypto investors increasingly look for new altcoin projects with doxxed teams. The Tamadoge developers and founders are public, rather than remaining anonymous – often a red flag and a sign of a potential scam or rug pull. As well as that transparency, Tamadoge completed a Solid Proof audit and has partnered with fiat payments gateway Transak. Best New Crypto Listing on OKX Tamadoge having its IEO on OKX – with more crypto exchange listings to follow – is another potential bullish catalyst for TAMA being the best new crypto coin to invest in. OKX has an exchange score of 6.1 on CoinMarketCap and a green rating – which CMC only awards to 21 top tier crypto exchanges. That exchange platform score is based on a variety of metrics including how trustworthy and safe an exchange is, its daily trading volume ($1.6 billion in the past 24 hours for OKX), and number of cryptocurrencies listed. Other big names like Bitmex, Delta exchange, Phemex, Bittrex, Poloniex and Bitmart have a lower score and orange rating on CMC. The video above posted to the Tamadoge YouTube channel explains how to buy Tamadoge when it is listed – OKX also has a separate DEX for those unable to use its CEX. Tamadoge will also have its initial DEX offering (IDO) on OKX the same day six hours after the CEX listing (11:00 UTC) at 17:00 UTC. As well as Tamadoge potentially being the best new coin listing this month, new OKX signups have a chance to win a mystery box valued at $10,000. Visit OKX Visit OKX DEX Visit Tamadoge Website

All rights reserved.) A lawsuit over a controversial Florida law is being appealed to the U.S. Supreme Court. It’s centered on SB 7072, branded as an anti-censorship law, that was passed and signed by Gov. Ron DeSantis in 2021. It requires social media companies to host third-party content and puts limits on what sites like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram can remove for violations. The question, according to attorneys, is whether the state can prevent a tech company from hosting content that it deems inappropriate. The law was passed on the claim that social media companies had been suppressing conservative ideas. The company who sued to block the law said even if tech companies were doing that — that’s their constitutional right. At the signing of the bill, DeSantis said: “If big tech censors enforce rules inconsistently to discriminate in favor of the dominant Silicon Valley ideology, they will now be held accountable.” The law allowed the state government to compel social media sites to host third-party content and placed state limits on how and for what reason a site can remove content. The law was challenged in court by NetChoice, a consortium of some of the biggest names in tech including Google, Amazon, TikTok and Twitter — among many others. Carl Szabo, vice president and general counsel of NetChoice, is a professor at George Mason University. “This law represents government compelled speech, which is a gross violation of the First Amendment,” Szabo told News4JAX. “And likewise, it will force websites to host lawful but awful content, content that we don’t want, like abuse of animals content, like child grooming content, like terrorist recruitment.” And the courts agreed. A district judge ruled the law is unconstitutional and when it was appealed to a higher court, the appeals judge ruled the same way. On Wednesday, the state of Florida appealed the case one more time — to the U.S. Supreme Court, which now has a majority of conservative-leaning judges. Szabo, who identifies as a conservative Republican, said that his is the conservative, constitutionally sound argument. “At the end of the day, conservative principles are centered on letting a private business decide what’s best for its users and its customers,” Szabo said. “And that’s what the First Amendment says too, ultimately. This law will be like requiring Chick-fil-A to be open on Sunday, even though they don’t want to be. And that’s what we’re talking about right here. Is the state of Florida trying to force websites to host content that they don’t want, their users don’t want? And they’re doing what’s best for their business.” It should be noted that DeSantis has two Facebook pages, two Twitter accounts, and a YouTube channel that are all updated regularly. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m.   Texas Tech (4-2-4, 0-0-1 Big 12) enters the matchup with nationally ranked Texas (6-1-3, 0-0-1 Big 12) after earning a 1-1 draw with West Virginia Thursday. Molly Skucenski paved the way for Tech after knocking in her first collegiate goal.   The Red Raiders come into Sunday looking for revenge after Texas knocked off Tech for the first time in three years last season.   Scouting the Longhorns No. 25 Texas also earned a draw in its first Big 12 match of the season with No. 12 TCU. Sophomore forward Trinity Byars has heated up offensively after missing the start of the 2022 fall campaign on international duty. The Richardson, Texas, native has now scored a goal in five of the Longhorns last eight matches.   Quick Hitters After three straight matches without a goal (Fullerton, Washington and Saint Mary’s), Texas Tech has now scored in FOUR straight matches. Last season, the Red Raiders offensive attack was led primarily by forward Kirsten Davis. Now in the absence of a leading scorer like Davis, Texas Tech has seven different players who have netted a goal this season. Texas Tech has taken 45 more shots than its opponents. On average, Tech is holding opponents to 6.6 shots per contest while firing off 11.1 shots.   Madison White enters the season ranked fourth in Tech’s career goals against record (0.90), third in career shutouts (22) and seventh in career saves (164). The Red Raiders boast a young roster with the addition of 10 freshmen. Freshman Kylie Bahr is the only freshmen to have started every games so far this season while freshman Peyton Parsons has split starts with junior Jillian Martinez in the midfield. This season’s captains are super senior Charlotte Teeter and fourth-year senior Hannah Anderson. Teeter opened up her last season as a Red Raider with a goal in the opener against Troy while Hannah Anderson netted her first goal of the season at North Texas. The Red Raider backline and goalie Madison White have been the highlight of the season thus far. Tech has allowed just six goals this season and recorded four shutouts. The Red Raider backline has limited five different opponents to less than five shots, including allowing Fresno State to just one shot. The defense has limited seven of their nine opponents to three or fewer shots on goal. Excluding the 2020 conference only seasons due to COVID-19, Tech has recorded at least three shutouts through the opening six games in five straight seasons, dating back to 2017. With the start of Big 12 action this week, Texas Tech ranks second in the league in goals-against average (.600), fourth in save percentage (.812) and second in shutout percentage (.500).  Individually, Madison White ranks second in the league in goalie minutes plater (900:00), second in goals-against average (.600), fourth in save percentage (.800) and first in shutouts (5). 10 Games To Play While Waiting For Bayonetta 3 TheGamer
10 Games To Play While Waiting For Bayonetta 3 TheGamer
10 Games To Play While Waiting For Bayonetta 3 – TheGamer https://collincountynewsonline.com/10-games-to-play-while-waiting-for-bayonetta-3-thegamer/ Bayonetta 3 is right around the corner and is one of the most anticipated games for the remainder of 2022. First revealed at The Game Awards in 2017, fans have been waiting patiently for the upcoming third installment. It’s been a long time coming, but the game will finally launch on October 28, exclusively for the Nintendo Switch. Playing the first two Bayonetta games is a great way to prepare for the third title. However, suppose you need some more games to hold you over before the launch date. In that case, there are plenty of other titles that Bayonetta fans will enjoy. Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is a 2013 action game developed by Platinum Games and is a spin-off from the Metal Gear series. Focusing on Raiden, you slice ‘n’ dice and meticulously cut through tons of enemies along with a rouges’ gallery of villains. While Metal Gear Rising is short, and the controls can be difficult to get used to at first, the game has a spectacular combat system and features some of the best bosses in all of gaming. Metal Gear Rising is still available on online retailers like Steam and the Microsoft Store and is worth a short playthrough during the wait for Bayonetta 3. 9 God Of War: Ascension God of War: Ascension was the last game in the series to feature the traditional hack and slash gameplay before moving onto a third-person camera perspective with 2018’s God of War. The combat was a revised and expanded version of what was seen in God of War III, making it the best combat of the PlayStation 3 entries. Unfortunately, Ascension remains one of the most forgotten entries in the series. Ascension was also not ported to the PlayStation 4, meaning you must play the title via cloud streaming from PS Plus Premium or play the game on a PlayStation 3 to experience this gem. 8 Killer Is Dead Killer Is Dead was made by Grasshopper Manufacture and Suda51, the developers of No More Heroes. While the combat is nothing deep or rich, the game is more of a return to Suda51’s roots with its noir style. The dark tone and noir style make the title much more interesting than the last couple of Grasshopper games released prior. If you’re into games that prioritize style over substance, then Killer Is Dead is a play, as long as you can get past those embarrassing dating missions. 7 Ninja Gaiden II Ninja Gaiden II is an Xbox platform exclusive only available on Xbox 360 and via backward compatibility. In the action game genre, this title is one of a kind. NG2 features some of the most hectic and fast-paced high enemy count fights in the action game space. Keep in mind that if you are used to games like Bayonetta, it might take some time to adjust to how the game plays. While NG2 launched on the Xbox 360, you should not play this game on that device due to the poor frame rate and noticeable screen tearing. Playing Ninja Gaiden II on an Xbox Series X offers a locked 60fps at a near 4K resolution the entire time. Even last-gen Xbox consoles will offer solid performance. 6 Devil May Cry 5 Devil May Cry 5 is the most recent entry in Capcom’s celebrated action game franchise. The game features the return of Nero and Dante, along with some other familiar faces, and introduces the new character V. DMC5’s combat is by far the best in the series, with the most tools and mechanics to play with yet. The story is gripping and satisfying for longtime fans of the series. Although the level design is incredibly linear, Devil May Cry 5, especially on the next-gen consoles, is worthy of a playthrough during the wait for Bayonetta 3. 5 God Hand God Hand is the final game developed by Clover Studio and was directed by Shinji Mikami, Co-Creator of Resident Evil. The game is unique in that it’s a third-person brawler with quasi-tank controls, but it all works together. The enemies and levels are designed around the control scheme, so the game rarely feels cheap. However, God Hand is a difficult game and will test your skills. Humor in the game is quite dated, and the length is a bit too short, but God Hand is still worth a short playthrough. What might not be worth it though is the price, which is well over $100 for a physical PlayStation 2 copy. 4 Vanquish Vanquish is a third-person shooter by Platinum Games and was Shinji Mikami’s first and only title at the studio. You play as Sam Gideon, a former star college football player who must use his guns, powers, and advanced suit to defeat hordes of enemies and large robotic bosses. The movement and gunplay are satisfying, and the game actively discourages the standard cover shooter play style. You’re rewarded by leaving cover and taking enemies head-on. The shift in gameplay can make you puzzled at first, but upon getting into the grove of it makes it that much more rewarding. Vanquish often goes for sale on online retailers and is worth a purchase during the wait for Bayonetta 3. 3 Ninja Gaiden Black Ninja Gaiden Black is the ultimate version of the genre-changing 2004 reboot of the series and is another Xbox platform exclusive. NGB combines the 2004 base game and the two downloadable hurricane packs to make the definitive version of the game and adds even more content on top of it. The game is refreshing compared to most other Japanese action games in how it has a Soulslike interconnected world instead of linear levels. The combat is meticulous in how you must be careful about what attacks you perform since you can’t cancel out of moves. There may be no other game that handles difficulty better than NGB, with its well-executed easy mode and higher difficulty options that will test even the most hardcore of gamers. 2 God Of War II God of War II is a late PlayStation 2 title coming out shortly after the launch of the PlayStation 3. Despite the poor timing, God of War II is the peak of the classic era of the series. The game offers a beefy single-player campaign and delivers the richest and most rewarding combat in the classic era of God of War. God of War II also has one of the most effective cliffhanger endings in all of gaming that made players hyped for the third entry. Unfortunately, only God of War III and the 2018 title are playable natively on a PlayStation 4 or 5. If you want to play through the entire series, you will need a PlayStation 3 for the best experience. 1 Devil May Cry 3 Devil May Cry 3 is the earliest game chronologically in the series. It features Dante in his youth tangled in a conflict with his brother Virgil that could lead to disastrous consequences for the world. While DMC3 doesn’t have the best combat in the series, it delivers the best total package. The combat is solid, the bosses are varied, and the level design is more intricate. You will want to explore these levels more than the linear hallways of something like DMC5. The story is executed very well in an anime style that makes you feel all the emotions it wants you to. The best version to get is the Nintendo Switch port which offers on-the-fly weapon and style switching along with local co-op. NEXT: Bayonetta: Best Character Designs In The Series

When Should You Visit Bali? Here Is Everything To Know TheTravel
When Should You Visit Bali? Here Is Everything To Know – TheTravel https://collincountynewsonline.com/when-should-you-visit-bali-here-is-everything-to-know-thetravel/ It is always delightful to visit the gorgeous resort island of Bali, thanks to a myriad of beautiful attractions. From stunning jungles to magnificent beaches to an adorable culture, there is so much to see and do. Travelers can visit Bali and make it a tour of anything they want. A trip to explore the many temples on the island, a spiritual vacation to get an insight into Hinduism or Buddhism, or simply make it a wild adventure, and explore several outdoor opportunities it presents. Visiting at the right time is one of the best ways of preparing for an unforgettable journey to Bali. So, when should you visit Bali? Here is everything to know. Visiting During The Peak Tourist Season Bali’s high season runs from June through August, the busiest time of the year. This is summer, which is like Winter in Indonesia. It is the perfect time to visit this beautiful island for good weather. So, travelers who don’t mind rubbing shoulders on the beaches and high traffic on roads can explore Bali in peak season. July and August are the driest months with splendid temperatures. While the locals consider these months ”cold” because of occasional rains, they are some of the best months if one is looking for warm, dry weather. However, these months can also be the worst time to visit Bali for someone who doesn’t want to deal with crowds and high prices in accommodation and flights. Many tourists flock to the island, hoping to get a taste of the tropical. This is also the holiday period for schools, meaning kids are out of school, and families are making vacation plans. The island quickly gets crowdy and may face serious trouble finding accommodation, even if willing to pay the high prices. The best trick is booking accommodation before traveling to make the price at least better and claim a spot before others take all the available rooms. Indonesia’s Independence Day, on 31st August, and Bali Arts Festival are some of the events to check out when visiting Bali during the peak season. Why it is the best time to visit: good weather for sightseeing and staying outdoors Why it is the worst time to visit: too many crowds, hike in prices Events to check out: Indonesia’s Independence Day, Bali Arts Festival Book accommodation and flight at least two months before traveling to avoid missing a room or paying more by 30% or 50%. When To Visit Bali On A Budget The low season in Bali is the cheapest time to visit, which can also be rainy. While rain doesn’t make for an enjoyable vacation, especially on the beach, one advantage of exploring the island at this time better deals on flights and accommodation. Travelers will get elegant rooms for the same price they’d pay for a budget hotel or lesser. So, if visiting Bali on a budget is the goal, then the low season runs from March through May. January and February are also affordable months to visit because they are rainy, so there won’t be crowds seeking good weather for a beach vacation. January is the rainiest month in Bali. Travelers will also enjoy fewer crowds in the low season, making it the perfect time to explore Bali’s popular attractions such as Ubud and Goa Gajah. Vacationers may have to wait outside during the high season before they get a chance to explore these attractions. When Is Bali Least Busy? Bali receives the least number of tourists from Mid-January through June. November and December are the months filled with many events, holidays, and festivals, but usually thin out at the end of the celebrations. The island remains calm until around July when tourism peaks. During this period, the weather is generally mild, with January through March being quite rainy. For a perfect mix of fewer crowds and good weather, try visiting between mid-to-late March, April, and May. From June, the island begins to experience more tourists, but it is until July that things take off. So, anytime within the first half of the year, travelers will only deal with a handful of crowds and enjoy the best deals on hotels and flights. When To Go Hiking In Bali If looking for a time for the perfect hiking adventure, visit before the rainy season starts. April through October is the best time to go hiking. The rainy season can also work for hiking, but it is challenging because vacationers will have to check for the weather constantly. Taking a short stroll on some sunny mornings in the rainy seasons is possible. But if visiting exclusively for a hiking adventure or visiting the beach, then the dry season is a perfect time. Mount Batur is the most recognized hike on the island, and hiking is among the best things to do when visiting Bali. May through September is the best time to hike this mountain for good weather and breathtaking views from the summit. Standing at 5,633 ft, Mount Batur is a must-visit on a Bali vacation. When Is The Best Time To Explore Bali? The best time to visit Bali is during mid-to-late March, April, and May because it gives vacationers a perfect mix of good weather, fewer crowds, and better rates on accommodation and flights.

Decentralized Blockchain Protocol BZeroX Fined $250000 For Illegal Trading – Tech Business News https://collincountynewsonline.com/decentralized-blockchain-protocol-bzerox-fined-250000-for-illegal-trading-tech-business-news/ bZeroX LLC and its founders were fined $250,000 in an enforcement action against the blockchain protocol Ooki DAO, its successor and an independent decentralized organisation. bZeroX and its founders, Tom Bean and Kyle Kistner, were fined by the CFTC for operating an organisation that provided leveraged and margin trading of digital assets without complying with the Banking Secrecy Act’s “Know Your Customer” identification program. The CFTC also filed suit versus Ooki DAO, the successor to bZeroX, for breaking the same laws and the government claimed that bZeroX transferred control of the bZx protocol to bZx DAO and then subsequently renamed it Ooki DAO in order to avoid being prosecuted. Bean and Kistner both oversaw the development of bZx protocol, a decentralized protocol for lending, trading, interest generation and other financial activities on the blockchain. A DAO is an autonomous organisation with no central leadership where decisions are made through community governance controlled by blockchain protocols and code. Members of the community earn a stake in the DAO by holding cryptographic tokens that allow them to vote on proposals submitted by other members. CTFC Chairman Rostin Behnam says the actions demonstrate the CFTC’s commitment to aggressively pursuing individuals and operations that purposefully seek to evade regulatory oversight at the expense of retail customers  “I commend our dedicated enforcement team for pursuing this scheme which touches on many areas of concern regarding this growing market.” says Behnam. Commissioner Summer Mersinger, however, did not concur with the commission’s decision and published a dissent stating her opposition. She concurred that the commission should target bZeroX as a company and its founders as liable parties because of their involvement, but she disagreed with targeting Ooki DAO and its token holders. “The CTFC did not have the legal authority to punish the DAO, whereas token holders were unfairly targeted. says Mersinger, ” Recently, the U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned Tornado Cash, a decentralized cryptocurrency mixing service allowing users to anonymize the origins of funds after accusing the service of hiding the proceeds of at least $7 billion worth of virtual currency from criminal activities since 2019. Kirklees Councils Cabinet Approves New Guidance Around Opening Hot Food Takeaways Across The District Dewsbury Reporter
Kirklees Councils Cabinet Approves New Guidance Around Opening Hot Food Takeaways Across The District Dewsbury Reporter
Kirklees Council’s Cabinet Approves New Guidance Around Opening Hot Food Takeaways Across The District – Dewsbury Reporter https://collincountynewsonline.com/kirklees-councils-cabinet-approves-new-guidance-around-opening-hot-food-takeaways-across-the-district-dewsbury-reporter/ It will provide support to applicants who are hoping to open a new business premises of this type in the borough, by guiding them through all the relevant issues that might affect their application. The proposed changes will affect the locations where planning permission can be granted for hot food takeaways. The new rules will generally apply to proposals for brand new hot food takeaways as opposed to existing ones. However, there are instances where they will impact takeaways already trading in hot food. The guidance has been approved to help improve the health and well-being of residents across Kirklees. Coun Graham Turner, cabinet member for growth and regeneration, said: “We want to develop policies which will work for Kirklees as a whole, helping revitalise our high streets. “The distribution of businesses has huge power to affect an area’s overall offering, and the wellbeing of those who live and work there. “With this new guidance, our aim is to help the local takeaway industry thrive, without perpetuating some of the negative impacts we’re currently seeing on local communities. “We’ll be providing the best possible guidance for anyone looking to make a planning application, being clear about our policies but also clearly laying out the pathways to success.” The guidance is in line with the overall Council Plan, the Kirklees Health and Wellbeing Plan, and the Healthy Weight Declaration. One of the main aims of these changes is to improve the overall health and wellbeing of Kirklees residents. The supplementary planning document includes new guidance around selling takeaway hot food near schools, which is particularly important in Kirklees, as around one in four reception-age children are clinically overweight. As well as health impacts, the new guidance recognises the large role of hot food takeaways in town centres and other key areas across Kirklees, and the need for these areas to offer variety for residents, visitors and businesses. By limiting the number of businesses of this type in one area, Kirklees Council can further promote vibrant, varied town centres with a wide range of businesses and offerings. The council also aims to limit the impact of hot food takeaways on people living and working in the district by providing guidance on issues relating to highway safety, noise and odours, waste disposal and community safety. Coun Musarrat Khan, cabinet member for health and social care, added: “The health and wellbeing of residents is, as always, the council’s top priority. “By encouraging businesses to offer more healthy menus and normalising healthier eating, we can increase life expectancy and reduce the risk of serious illness. “Where we can do more to encourage healthy living, we have that responsibility. “This is particularly crucial when thinking about our children in Kirklees. Over the last few decades, so much has been done to make sure children eat healthily while they’re in school – we should be thinking more widely and extending this to the environment beyond our local schools. “We have a responsibility to tackle growing childhood obesity rates in every way we can.” Now that the Hot Food Takeaway supplementary planning document has been approved, this guidance will be adopted going forward and will apply to all future planning applications around hot food takeaways in Kirklees.
