The order comes at a time when digital asset adoption is seeing a surge, and the number of crypto tax evaders is subsequently increasing. A press release from the United States Department of Justice uncovered the development Thursday. Per the release, U.S. District Judge Paul Gardephe gave the IRS authorization to issue John Doe summons demanding information related to crypto tax evaders from full-service banking institution M.Y. Safra Bank. The move was announced by IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig, United States Attorney Damian Williams, and Deputy Assistant Attorney General for the Tax Division of the Department of Justice, David Hubbert. The summons will particularly take sFOX – a crypto-focused prime brokerage platform – into consideration. This is due to sFOX’s partnership with M.Y. Safra Bank that enables customers of the broker to utilize the crypto offerings of M.Y. Safra Bank. The IRS will be looking out for customers who failed to report to the IRS in order to pay the necessary taxes on their crypto transactions. The ramped-up effort at hunting down tax evaders in the crypto scene is due to the concerning rate of crypto tax dearth. According to the press release, the IRS has noticed “significant tax compliance deficiencies relating to cryptocurrencies and other digital assets” in its experience. Speaking on the matter, U.S. Attorney Damian Williams noted that cryptocurrency traders are not exempt from paying taxes in the United States, as is proper.  “The government is committed to using all of the tools at its disposal, including John Doe summonses, to identify taxpayers who have understated their tax liabilities by not reporting cryptocurrency transactions, and to make sure that everyone pays their fair share,” Williams added. Furthermore, IRS Commissioner Charles Rettig highlighted the significance of the court’s authorization to the agency. According to him, the order will help to support their already-established efforts at ensuring that all individuals pay their fair share of taxes. The U.S taxes crypto as investments rather than currencies  In addition, Deputy Assistant Attorney General David Hubbert sought to remind cryptocurrency traders in the U.S. that their gains are taxable. Consequently, it is important for American crypto investors to understand the manner in which their transactions are taxed. The U.S. IRS places taxes on cryptocurrencies as investments, and not necessarily as currencies. Due to this view, long-term holders of cryptocurrencies enjoy lower taxes when they’ve held their assets for up to a year. These rates are typically between 0% and 20%. Notwithstanding, short-term holders who hold their assets for less than a year would be paying somewhere between 10% and 37%. Despite the seemingly high crypto tax rate, the U.S. still doesn’t assume the position of the country with the worst crypto tax rate. That crown goes to Belgium which taxes crypto transactions up to 33% or 50% depending on whether the transactions are speculative or regarded as professional income.

That’s down from a recent peak of nearly 320,000 vehicles, or 2% of all new U.S. vehicle sales, in 2006, and roughly 144,200, or 0.8%, in 2015. Reasons for the decline of convertibles include practicality, durability, cost increases, and new panoramic sunroofs and glass tops, according to experts. S&P Global Mobility forecasts sales of convertibles and roadsters to increase to about 82,000 vehicles in 2024 and 2025, before once again falling to under 70,000 units by the end of this decade. Haartz’s Hollenbeck said once automakers have come out with EVs, they’ll be looking for ways for the vehicles to stand out — and one will likely be drop-tops. “We’ll see what the market wants later. Could we see a possible convertible electric Challenger in the future? I don’t see why not,” he said. “I can’t imagine they’re all going to go away. People who are into convertibles love them.”

Assisting in the case was the Panola County Sheriff’s Office, the TSCRA said. The TSCRA says they first became aware of James Douglas Foster in January 2021, when they were alerted of a cattle theft in Fannin County and issued an arrest warrant for Foster after their investigation. Foster fled Fannin County, the TSCRA said, and became a fugitive. In October, the TSCRA said a warrant for forgery of a financial instrument was issued for Foster in Collin County. Special rangers continued investigating, following Foster from an address in Anna to one in the Panola County area. “Alongside the Panola County Sheriff’s Office, Special Rangers Larry Hand and Bo Fox searched the new address, but Foster was one step ahead and eluded arrest, causing the case to go cold,” the TSCRA said in a press release. The case was recently revived, though, and led rangers to Williams County, North Dakota, about 150 miles from the Canadian border. Foster was located and arrested “in a remote and desolate area of the county.” The TSCRA said Foster would be extradited back to Texas to face his charges. Between food, souvenirs, travel, and the cruise itself, I spent almost $4,000 by the end. I really enjoyed my experience, but probably wouldn’t splurge on a cruise vacation again. Google Maps In the past, I’ve both flown to Florida and driven there from New Jersey in my car. But for my cruise, I knew the quicker trip would be ideal. There were only connecting flights available when I booked, so I had brief layovers in Baltimore, Maryland, both ways.  That said, I knew my round-trip journey would be long and pricey ($396.96), so I was happy not to pay extra for luggage. I was only traveling with a carry-on and personal item, which Southwest Airlines lets you bring for free. I arrived in Orlando, Florida, one day before my cruise and spent the day at Disney Springs. Though it’s free to enter, I still spent $185 while there. I spent $90 on souvenirs, and $30 on two drinks while at Disney Springs. Amanda Krause/Insider I visited Disney Springs with my sister, and we spent nearly our entire day there. We had lunch, went shopping, enjoyed multiple snacks, and had a drink together. My room cost me almost another $200. I was given a free DoubleTree cookie (left) and then headed to my room. Luckily, I didn’t have to pay for transportation between the airport and hotel, as there was a complimentary shuttle available. Port Canaveral is located approximately 45 miles away from Orlando International Airport — where Go Port picks up and drops off travelers — and with traffic, it can take nearly an hour to drive there. The bus ride was much cheaper than an Uber or Lyft would have been, and the driver knew exactly where to drop us off for our specific cruise. I loved the tiny space, and thought it was pretty luxurious for being so small. Of course, the high price tag of the vacation didn’t only cover the room. Our trip also included unlimited meals — breakfast, lunch, dinner, ice cream, and all-day room service — and basic beverages including soda, water, coffee, and tea. The fee also includes onboard activities and entertainment. On the Wish ship, there are multiple pools, movie showings, interactive games, musical performances, character meet-and-greets, a gym, a recreation center, and Broadway-level theater productions each night, among other amenities. Though breakfast, lunch, and dinner were included in our cruise, I spent $37 on extra snacks while onboard. I thought most of the extra snacks on the cruise ship were reasonably priced. Amanda Krause/Insider Most of the extra snacks available for purchase onboard were reasonably priced, in my opinion. My sister and I enjoyed ice cream, macarons, and even beignets at a “Princess and the Frog”-themed bar. The only snack we found overpriced was the popcorn. We bought a $4 bucket each night ahead of the daily musical production, and it was clearly a favorite with other passengers too. Because popcorn is such a simple and inexpensive snack, we thought it should have been included in the cruise fare. Here’s a breakdown of what I spent: Popcorn: $4.13 Cone of gelato: $4.75 Cup of gelato: $3.75 Popcorn: $4.13 Minnie Mouse cupcake: $4.50 Rose macaron: $2.50 Lemon macaron: $2.50 Carrot cake brownie: $4.50 Popcorn: $4.13 Two beignets: $2.50 Total: $37.39 I also bought nearly $80 worth of drinks throughout the trip. I went a bit overboard (no pun intended) when buying souvenirs — spending more than $204. The gift shop had everything, from children’s toys to Christmas ornaments. Mastery over emotions is obtained by correct knowledge, the quality of which is spiritual and the answers of which can’t be found in the material aspects or mind logic. It is in the remit of the heart that you can touch the purity aspect of you. Mastery over emotions is neither suppression nor control. Mastery implies understanding the root causes of afflictions and eliminating them from the psyche so that the emotions don’t behold you. When emotions don’t behold you, you experience freedom. All our lives we may try to control our emotions and claim we are masters in emotion-control. That is easy. What is not easy is expanding understanding (the mental aspect), seeing higher knowledge and releasing afflictions. That is because we resist change, we resist expansion. Resistance is not being ready to understand, discern. It is to keep on doing the same things, keep having the same behaviour that brings misery. Keep complaining, for example, rather than changing things; changing ways to do things differently. That is resistance. As an example, ‘I am right’; the notion of it is resistance, the need to be right , going to lengths to prove you are right; are forms of resistance. ‘I said so’, is a common expression of suchlike narration. These are walls to authentic self. Connecting to Real Self In every one of us, resides a child; pure, authentic, innocent, loving. However, as one grows, several outer layers get added, obscuring the light of that authentic self, that state of pure being-ness. For example, a child’s crying is considered natural but an adult’s crying isn’t. It is questioned (crying is letting go of pent up emotions and can be healthy in several situations. It is a release). Our connection to the child within gets broken, obscured, because a wall gets added. Expression of the inner child is beheld. Resistance. The expression of the child within, keeps one in purity, innocence, curiosity. Laughter over little things keeps the child alive within. How can one live authentic self? It is by expressing the heart, expressing and living from the space of the heart, not by the hardness of logic; logic can be converted into wisdom by aligning with the heart energy. By being like a child; not clinging on to fixed notions, by connecting to heart wisdom. Suppression of Authentic Self There is suppression instead of expression of authentic self, why is that so? This is mostly in order to receive acceptance, approval; approval of society, family members, even approval of self by denying the authentic self. Expression of authentic self may come as a ‘rebellious’ attitude for others, a different attitude, different ways of doing things from the ongoing norm-culture.’ Different’ can be felt intimidating to self as well, and so layers add up. In order to live an authentic self, go within, self-enquire on things that cause friction within. Do not deny. Pay attention to the expressions you project, they hold the clue to the ongoing inner environment. Pay attention to what is suppressed within. Self-enquire; investigate the thoughts you hold, beliefs that guide your actions, emotions that you find yourself in. Enquire on aspects such as: What excites me about life? What is it that I am believing in, which is causing me misery? What belief must I change then? What must I believe, in order to make the emotional change? How is it that I want to feel? Decide. Be aware. Focus on changing emotion/ feeling first and then taking actions. Come to an emotional state first which feels good. Follow the inner calling and live it. Living authentic self is an art of healthy life expression. When done consciously, it feels empowering. Almost 260 Billion Won in Crypto Seized for Tax Evasion in South Korea The amount of crypto assets seized from South Koreans accused of dodging taxation has reached almost 260 billion Korean won (close to $184 million at current exchange rates), the online editions Yonhap News and Maekyung unveiled on Thursday. The reports quote official numbers provided by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, the Ministry of Security and Public Administration, the National Tax Service (NTS) of South Korea, and the authorities in 17 cities and provinces. Out of the total exceeding 259.7 billion won, more than 176 billion won of assets were seized due to non-payment of national taxes, and over 84 billion won of crypto was seized as a result of local tax arrears, the news outlets detailed. Nearly a third of that cryptocurrency was seized in capital Seoul (17.8 billion won), the city of Incheon (close to 5.5 billion won), and the rest in Gyeonggi province (over 53 billion won). The South Korean government authorized the seizure of virtual assets in the second half of 2020. The highest amount of crypto seized from a single individual since then was 12.5 billion won ($8.8 million). The person, a resident of Seoul, failed to pay 1.43 billion won in local taxes and had holdings in 20 digital currencies, including 3.2 billion won in BTC and 1.9 billion won in XRP. This taxpayer opted to cover his obligations and asked to keep the crypto investment. When the Korean tax authority seizes a person’s exchange account or their assets, it sells the coins at the current exchange rate, if the due tax is not paid. The statistical data about the seized crypto has been released after, in early August, the NTS vowed to take strict measures against tax evasion through virtual assets and platforms. Earlier this year, South Korea postponed a 20% tax on crypto-related gains until 2025. The levy, applicable to capital gains exceeding 2.5 million won, was previously supposed to come into force in January, 2023. The new endeavor marks the 23rd career pathway the school offers. The program was approved over the summer by the state Department of Elementary and Secondary Education. Only three other vocational high schools in the state offer a marine technology program and they are on the South Shore and Cape Cod. “We have a real need in the area for marine service between the North Shore, Merrimack Valley, Seacoast and everything in between,” Vocational Coordinator Paul Moskevitz said. “Our instructor, Mike Murray, has worked extremely hard to get the program running. This program brings even more opportunities to Whittier students.” Students in the Class of 2026 will be the first to be able to pursue Whittier Tech’s new program. Currently, 306 ninth-graders are participating in Whittier Tech’s Exploratory Program and will select a trade pathway in January. During the marine technology rotation, students are learning the parts of a boat, the concept of buoyancy, annual boat maintenance and replacing water pumps. “I really like my experience in the Exploratory Program, so far, especially here in marine tech,” said freshman Argelis Vargas of Haverhill. “It’s hands on. I am not stuck in a classroom learning.” Whittier Tech was awarded a $181,778 Skills Capital Grant to fund the new program. With the funding, Whittier purchased a Parker boat, Yamaha WaveRunner and a Sea-Doo GTR for student learning; Yamaha outboards for student training; and a new ventilation system for engine exhaust. Students who choose to pursue the pathway will learn how to operate, maintain, repair, rebuild and install onboard systems, as well as hull maintenance and repair, marine canvas fabrication and repair, gas and diesel engine operation and repair, and welding and precision metal fabrication. They also will earn relevant certification, learn how to operate a boat safely, and obtain their boating license. Students will have the opportunity to earn their captain’s license during their senior year, according to school officials. Whittier Tech has offered marine service technology through its Adult Evening Education Program since summer 2021 with support from the Massachusetts Marine Trades Association and donations from Yamaha. The program has trained three classes of unemployed or underemployed workers for entry-level jobs. The stiff competition in North Texas and across the state to buy a home was due to a low inventory of homes, causing buyers to purchase quickly and way over the asking price. “The craziest one I heard is someone offered to give the seller an RV if they would accept their offer,” said Shana Acquisto, a real estate broker who owns Acquisto Real Estate and is president-elect of the Collin County Association of Realtors. She says those situations aren’t happening as much these days as the market shifts due to higher interest rates and more inventory available. “The market is cooling somewhat, but I don’t panic at all. I think the rate increase is good and it’s doing what it was meant to do, which is stabilize and cool off our market, it was just out of control,” said Acquisto. She said the competitiveness of the last two years made it hard for buyers who were not able to play in the bidding wars. “Unfortunately, it did kick a lot of buyers out of the market, where now we’re seeing more buyers are having another opportunity to come back in and not be as competitive,” said Acquisto. “So it’s allowing people more opportunities to be able to secure a home.” Local The latest news from around North Texas. The Collin County Association of Realtors market review for August states that sellers were open to negotiating and accepting offers for less than their original list price for the first time since Jan. 2021. “What this market means now is it’s a better opportunity for buyers. You might not see multiple offers and bidding wars on every property. It’s easier for buyers to buy right now, which is a good thing,” said Kelly Boulton, whose been a realtor in DFW for 21 years. She recently sold a home for a client in Valley Ranch in Irving that only sat on the market for a week. “I listed this house, we sold it in the first week, but typical of the trend right now, we didn’t get tons of offers,” said Boulton. “We got a very good offer and we sold it just over list price in a week.” “We figured out the market was really sort of normalized again to where it was years ago, and despite that, we still thought we have a good sale offer,” said Thaddeus Clavo, Boulton’s client who recently sold his home. “ Boulton said when it comes to homes in the $300,000 to $400,000 range, she’s still seeing a lot of competition as that has become a standard number for homes in DFW. “Our sales are down but the home prices aren’t necessarily down. So we have set a new market standard in our area and I do not see that going backward or going the other way,” said Acquisto. The report also states that in Collin County, homeowners paid a medial sales price of $528,399, which is 20.1% more than a year ago. Also, homes for sale remained on the market for about 24 days and sold at 97.9% of the original list price. A year ago in august, homes were on the market for about 2 weeks. “We never have a crystal ball, but many economists are saying that prices are still going to increase just not at the crazy amounts that they were in the last two years,” said Boulton. She believes the market is starting to normalize, versus slowdown. Homes are still going fast, but with more inventory out there, the days of sellers expecting to receive offers way over the asking price are over, for the time being. “I think the properties that are sitting there a little longer is because maybe sellers haven’t quite adjusted to the shift in the dynamic of the market and they’re pricing it slightly high,” said Boulton. In Collin County, the August housing report said buyers had 77.3% more inventory to choose from compared to a year ago and that there are enough homes to last 2.3 months which is 107.3% compared to last year. A six-month supply of homes for sale is considered a balanced market. “We are seeing you know, more homes come into inventory, which means more opportunity for buyers. And we are seeing some price reductions because if a seller needs to sell they’re having to do something to entice a buyer,” said Acquisto. Overall, realtors believe the market is still strong and continues to grow, but just at a different rate as compared to the last couple years.

Per the agreement, the rate as calculated per tonne meant cocoa currently stands at £31.50 to the United Kingdom (UK) for both bagged and bulk, while bagged and bulk cocoa shipped to the Northern Continent stands at €54.02 for bagged and €56.60 for bulk. For Estonia, it is €61.74 for bagged and €64.70 for bulk; Mediterranean Europe €60.64 for bagged and €63.53, for bulk; Far East, $100.44/106.09 for bagged and to Brazil $116.24 for bagged and $121.78 for bulk.
