New Lawyer For Oath Keepers Leader Stewart Rhodes Says Jan. 6 Trial Defense Will Be ‘Like A Little League Team Facing The New York Yankees,’ Seeks Special Master And Delay – Law & Crime https://collincountynewsonline.com/new-lawyer-for-oath-keepers-leader-stewart-rhodes-says-jan-6-trial-defense-will-be-like-a-little-league-team-facing-the-new-york-yankees-seeks-special-master-and-delay-law-crime/ ‘Oath Keepers’ leader Stewart Rhodes appears in a Collin County, Texas jail mugshot. Update—Sept. 13, 2022 at 6:04 p.m.: Hours after the publication of this story, a judge issued a minute order curtly denying Stewart Rhodes’s requests to delay his trial and appoint a special master. The original story is below. Stewart Rhodes, the leader of the right-wing Oath Keepers extremist group, has again asked a federal judge to delay his trial on seditious conspiracy charges in the Jan. 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol. Rhodes and his co-defendants are alleged to have worked together to compile a cache of weapons at a hotel in Arlington, Virginia, and have readied a “Quick Reaction Force” to essentially be on standby in order to stop Congress from certifying Joe Biden’s 2020 electoral win over Donald Trump. That certification is held on Jan. 6 and has traditionally been a hallmark of the peaceful transition of power of U.S. leadership. Oath Keepers arrests began in January of 2021, but some of those defendants were spun off into a separate case when Rhodes was indicted on seditious conspiracy charges in January of 2022. Eleven Oath Keepers defendants are now charged with seditious conspiracy, and due to limitations on space and safety concerns, U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta assigned two trial dates. The first group of the seditious conspiracy defendants, including Rhodes and those who prosecutors have described as some of his top lieutenants and aides, is set to start trial on Sept. 27. The second group has a trial scheduled for November. Mehta, who granted a trial continuance in May, has repeatedly refused to delay trial a second time. During a hearing last week, he denied a request from Rhodes himself, who asked for a continuance in light of his request to drop attorneys Philip Linder and James Lee Bright, who have represented Rhodes since he was indicted, and substitute Edward Tarpley as his lawyer. Mehta, a Barack Obama appointee, denied that motion — calling it an “eleventh hour request” that was “complete and utter nonsense” — although he did allow for Tarpley to join the case despite apparent acrimony between Bright and Tarpley. Tarpley, apparently, has wasted little time moving forward with his strategy for Rhodes’ case, which includes yet another request to delay his client’s trial. He complains that Rhodes’ case is being “fast-tracked to a trial scheduled to begin on September 26, in just two weeks,” although it’s worth noting that the September trial date was determined in May, and all but one of his co-defendants, Edward Vallejo, had been indicted in 2021. “This is the most massively complicated case in American history, with the shortest amount of time allowed for trial preparation,” the motion continues. “And Rhodes and other codefendants are facing potential life in federal prison if convicted. The largest and most complex case in history is being allotted the shortest time to prepare. And Rhodes and codefendants are being deprived of the tools necessary to defend themselves.” Tarpley says that federal prosecutors have an “advantage” over Rhodes and his co-defendants, using a baseball metaphor to make his point. “The government’s advantage in this case could not be greater,” Tarpley says in the motion. “This trial scheduled to start on September 26 will be like a little league team facing the New York Yankees.” Tarpley also requested a special master to “administer digital discovery” in the case. “Upon information and belief, this set of cases stemming from the protests on January 6, 2021 constitute the most massive and complex set of cases in the history of the federal courts,” Tarpley’s motion says. “Discovery in these cases is in the range of 50 to 100 terabytes of data; with each defendant dealing with 3 to 5 terabytes of discovery directly material to him.” Rhodes’ attorney said that the sheer volume of discovery justifies the appointment of a special master. “Discovery in this case is more massive than the discovery in many cases where courts have appointed special masters to help manage discovery,” Tarpley said, citing the prosecution of men accused of plotting to kidnap Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer (D) and “the Bundy prosecutions in the U.S. District of Nevada,” presumably a reference to the 2014 standoff — to which Rhodes has himself been linked — between antigovernment militiamen and federal officials. Tarpley also brings up the indictment of Oath Keepers lawyer Kellye SoRelle, who has pleaded not guilty to conspiracy charges in connection with Jan. 6. Tarpley describes SoRelle as a witness who can “testify regarding her advice, observations, and communications with Rhodes and the Oathkeepers organization.” Tarpley also describes her testimony before the House committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack as “exculpatory evidence[] and Brady material,” saying that “to withhold it or decline to give Rhodes adequate time to obtain it would be error of an extreme magnitude.” It’s unclear how SoRelle’s indictment would preclude her from testifying on Rhodes’ behalf at trial, and prosecutors have previously indicated that it wouldn’t. Moreover, Mehta has repeatedly said that he does not have the power to compel Congress to provide transcripts from the Jan. 6 committee’s investigation. While Tarpley’s filing contains several rhetorical flourishes describing the high stakes of his client’s trial, it does not contain references to legal authority or case law. Tarpley also filed two other motions on Monday: a request to suppress the recording of a November 2020 GoToMeeting call, and a motion to either sever Rhodes from his co-defendants or move him to the November trial group. He also filed three joinder requests on Monday to add himself to pretrial motions filed by his co-defendants. Bright confirmed to Law&Crime on Tuesday that Tarpley is not the lead attorney on the case, but since Mehta allowed him to join, he is free to file his own motions. “Mr. Linder and I will continue to pursue the trial strategy that we have worked on and developed over the past eight months,” Bright said. At that hearing, Mehta also denied Rhodes’ request to continue his trial, which is currently set to start on Sept. 27. He is currently in the first trial group of Oath Keepers defendants charged with seditious conspiracy. The second group is set to go to trial in November, while another group of Oath Keepers members not facing the seditious conspiracy charge are set to go to trial in February. The DOJ did not immediately respond to Law&Crime’s request for comment, although department policy is not to publicly comment on cases generally. A status conference in the case is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. Wednesday morning. Read Rhodes’ special master and continuance request, below. What To Do If You Forgot To Bring Your Prescription Medication On A Trip HuffPost
What To Do If You Forgot To Bring Your Prescription Medication On A Trip HuffPost
What To Do If You Forgot To Bring Your Prescription Medication On A Trip – HuffPost https://collincountynewsonline.com/what-to-do-if-you-forgot-to-bring-your-prescription-medication-on-a-trip-huffpost/ Prescription medications are an essential item on your packing list when you’re traveling. However, bringing them can require a little preparation. Before you head out, contact your physician to make sure you have your meds available for the duration of your trip. You can travel with most medications ― just remember to leave them in the prescription bottle or have the prescription note. “It’s also beneficial to have a current list from your pharmacy with descriptions of each of your medications on hand, as the drugs may have different names depending on which country you’re traveling to,” said Dr. Kavita Desai, a pharmacist and founder of health and wellness company Revivele. If you’re traveling by plane, liquid medications are limited to travel-size containers of 3.4 ounces in the U.S. if you have them on your carry-on. Many pediatric prescriptions need refrigeration, so bring ice packs if you’re packing children’s medication, said Dr. Neela Sethi Young, a pediatrician and co-founder of the scrubs brand Jaanuu. In the midst of packing for your vacation, it’s normal that medications may slip your mind. If you realize while traveling that you forgot your medications, it’s important that you act quickly in order to avoid gaps in your prescription regimen. “Try your best to avoid stopping your medications abruptly,” Sethi Young said. “This can have serious health effects.” Additionally, make sure not to change your medication or take something in its place ― e.g., over-the-counter medicine or an alternate drug ― as that can also put your health into danger. Here’s what you can do to obtain forgotten medication if you’re away from home. Contact your doctor’s office immediately. Once you realize that you forgot a medication, get in touch with the doctor who prescribed it. Try calling their office or sending a message via your patient portal as soon as possible. “Your physician’s office may be able to fax or email a note of your latest medical consultation or summary of your health conditions and medications with dosing instructions,” Desai said. If you’re traveling domestically in the U.S., they may even be able to transfer your prescription to a pharmacy near you. If you’re unable to reach your physician, get in touch with your pharmacy back home. The pharmacy where you go to collect your prescription has a record of your medications. Therefore, if you’re unable to get in touch with your doctor, contact a pharmacist back home so they can locate the exact names of your medications and associated dosing, Sethi Young said. staticnak1983 via Getty Images Don’t try switching your regimen or taking a different medication in place of your normal one. Call your physician first. Visit a local pharmacy at your destination. Once you receive a copy of your medication record, take it to a local pharmacy, as you may be able to purchase your prescription medications there. Make sure to visit either a hospital-based pharmacy or a reputable chain pharmacy and insist on original packaging of the medication, Desai said. Remember to keep the receipts from your purchase, because you may get some form of reimbursement if you have travel insurance, Desai added. Each country has its own rules regarding the sale of prescription medications. So if you’re denied medications after showing your prescription from your doctor, you may have to visit a local physician for a new prescription. Visit an urgent care or internal medicine clinic. Urgent care centers and medical clinics with internal medicine physicians are generally knowledgeable about a variety of health conditions, Desai said. She recommends that you take a list of your current medications and medical conditions from your primary care provider during a visit. Generally, internal medicine or family medicine physicians who act as general practitioners can prescribe a variety of medications. If the local internal medicine physician is unable to help with your prescription, they may refer you to a specialized physician who can. The process to retrieve your forgotten medications may seem stressful, but don’t panic. There are medical professionals who can support you and help you gain access to your medicine, Sethi Young said.

Edinburgh Shows Its Kiltwalk Kindness – Scottish Business News https://collincountynewsonline.com/edinburgh-shows-its-kiltwalk-kindness-scottish-business-news/ FIVE thousand Kiltwalkers gathered in Edinburgh yesterday [Sunday 18 September] and fell silent across the capital before setting off to raise over £2 million for 500 hard pressed Scottish charities. A minute’s silence was held as a mark of respect and thanks for the life of the late Monarch, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth.  Pipers also played in moving scenes at the 21-mile Mighty Stride, the 13-mile Big Stroll, and the four-mile Wee Wander. Those still walking later in the day observed the national one minute’s silence at 8pm. 500 charities across Scotland will benefit from the first physical Kiltwalk to take place in the capital since 2019. Out of respect for those visiting the Queen’s official residence Holyrood Palace, The Mighty Stride moved away from Holyrood Park to a new Start at Bingham Medway.   The walkers’ fundraising is topped-up by 50% by The Hunter Foundation. Sir Tom Hunter said: “I am incredibly proud of the Kiltwalk community for the respect they have shown at the death of Her Majesty the Queen whilst at the same time raising funds for 500 charities who really need it. We thank each and every one of our Kiltwalk heroes for their amazing endeavours for the common good.” Football legend Graeme Souness tackled the Mighty Strike alongside Commonwealth Gold winning boxers Sean Lazzerini and Reese Lynch. The trio walked and raised money for charity, DEBRA, just one of 500 different Scottish charities.

Gartner Outlines Six Trends Driving Near-Term Adoption Of Metaverse Technologies ZAWYA
Gartner Outlines Six Trends Driving Near-Term Adoption Of Metaverse Technologies ZAWYA
Gartner Outlines Six Trends Driving Near-Term Adoption Of Metaverse Technologies – ZAWYA https://collincountynewsonline.com/gartner-outlines-six-trends-driving-near-term-adoption-of-metaverse-technologies-zawya/ DUBAI, UAE: — Six trends are driving the use of metaverse technologies today and will continue to drive its use over the next three to five years, according to Gartner, Inc. “While widescale adoption of metaverse technologies is more than 10 years away, there are practical ways organizations are harnessing them now, for example, in employee onboarding, sales enablement, higher education, medical and military training and immersive shopping experiences,” said Marty Resnick. Today, emergent metaverses are in their infancy. But technology trends, with proven use cases and business outcomes, are just the beginning of the value technology innovation brings to the enterprise,” Resnick said. “The longer-term bets are the true differentiators that could disrupt an entire industry, and the metaverse is one of those bets. Gartner defines a metaverse as “the next level of interaction in the virtual and physical worlds.” Metaverse technologies allow people to replicate or enhance their physical activities, by transporting or extending physical activities to a virtual world, or by transforming the physical one. Despite the hype, the adoption of metaverse technologies is nascent and fragmented. Gartner recommends caution when investing in a specific metaverse, as it is too early to determine which investments will be viable in the long term, and the ethical, financial and reputational risks of early investments are not fully known. “Use this time for learning, exploring and preparing for a metaverse with limited implementation,” Resnick said. “Review these six trends for opportunities that could benefit your organization.” Gaming The gaming industry, specifically video games, has been an innovator in experience and technology for many years. The metaverse will use gaming technologies, methodologies, development tools and even game theory to create experiences for both entertainment and training simulations. Enterprises will adopt “serious games” — gaming technologies, experiences and storytelling for training and simulation of specific work tasks and functions. Gartner predicts that by 2025, the serious games market will grow by 25% due to the impact of metaverse technologies. Digital Humans Digital humans are interactive, AI-driven representations that have some of the characteristics, personality, knowledge and mindset of a human, typically rendered as digital twins, digital avatars, humanoid robots or conversational user interfaces. They can interpret speech, gestures and images, and generate their own speech, tone and body language. Organizations are already planning on using digital humans to act as identified digital agents within metaverse environments for customer service, support, sales and other interactions with current and potential customers. Gartner predicts that by 2027, a majority of B2C enterprise CMOs will have a dedicated budget for digital humans in metaverse experiences. Virtual Spaces A virtual space — or virtual world — is a computer-generated environment where groups of people can come together using personal avatars or holograms. Virtual spaces engage multiple senses and provide participants with the ability to immerse and interact with the space. For example, they can be used to increase reach to customers who are unable or unwilling to join in-person engagements, to provide new alternatives to travel, or to enable collaboration among staff. Gartner predicts that by 2025, 10% of workers will regularly use virtual spaces (in activities such as sales, onboarding, remote teams), up from 1% in 2022. Shared Experiences A shared experience brings a group of people together within a virtual space. The metaverse will move shared experiences out of siloed immersive applications and allow for more opportunities to meet, collaborate, interact, participate or otherwise share experiences across applications, consumer events and services. In this sense, the metaverse will democratize immersive experiences. By 2028, 10% of public events (such as sports and performing arts) will offer participation in metaverse, fueling rapid buildout of commercial metaverse shared experiences, according to Gartner. Tokenized Assets Tokenized assets offer new business models for content creators. In metaverse experiences, most tokenized assets will use non-fungible token technologies (NFTs). NFTs support new economic models, for example, where content creators perpetually retain most of the revenue from sales of their works. The new features and functionalities enabled by the metaverse will inspire new ways to not only compete and monetize virtual products and services, but also to acquire physical (real-world) goods. Gartner predicts that by 2027, 25% of retail organizations with an e-commerce presence will have completed at least one proof of concept for tokenized assets using metaverse technologies. Spatial Computing Spatial computing combines physical and digital objects to digitally enhance physical spaces. This allows organizations to get more out of physical and digital assets by surfacing related, “unseen” digital information and content anchored to people, places and things. For example, digital content can augment physical objects or environments, such as digital colorization of Greek and Roman statues or additional product or object information. Gartner predicts that by 2026, the second and third iterations of spatial computing glasses will arrive, creating a more pervasive metaverse experience connected to the physical world. Interview: Madhav Sheth Shares Realmes Targets For Festive Season Sales Plans For second Phase Of Growth Digit
Interview: Madhav Sheth Shares Realme’s Targets For Festive Season Sales, Plans For ‘second Phase Of Growth’ – Digit https://collincountynewsonline.com/interview-madhav-sheth-shares-realmes-targets-for-festive-season-sales-plans-for-second-phase-of-growth-digit/ Realme’s journey in India has been an interesting one. From its modest beginnings, the company has gone on to quickly become one of the biggest players in the consumer technology space. With a line-up of impressive products under its belt, the company is now looking to take the next step forward, as it enters what it calls the “second phase of growth”.  We recently sat down with Madhav Sheth, CEO, Realme India and President, Realme International Business Group, to understand the company’s plans for the upcoming festive season sales, its detailed strategy to boost growth in India, and growth targets for 2022 and beyond.  Q. Realme has seen massive growth in the last four years. How has the journey been?  A. Our journey in the last four years has been nothing short of exciting, and we have grown exponentially. We have enjoyed this ride of ups and downs and are now looking forward to what’s coming next for us as a brand and as a larger industry. In a mere span of four years, we have been able to carve a niche for ourselves in the Indian market as well as globally. Realme has been one of the only brands that has seen positive growth over the past few months and we take immense pride in it. We were recently positioned as the second-largest smartphone brand in India as per IDC reports and we are working towards sustaining the position in the future as well.  In the last two years, we have also expanded our portfolio in terms of new product categories such as wearables, hearables, laptops, tablets, and other smart home products with our 1+5+T strategy. Our user base in India and in other countries has grown massively. We have over 140 million users, out of which 70 million are from India, and the number is increasing with each passing day.  As a brand, we have also been working towards building a strong manufacturing ecosystem within the country and have partnered with various OEMs for our smartphones, smart TVs and other AIoT products.  For the upcoming months, we have some exciting plans in place and have put together a detailed strategy to achieve our goals. Q. What will we see next from Realme?  A. Now that we have built a strong foundation for ourselves – we have launched multiple products and entered quite a few categories, creating an expansive TechLife Ecosystem – we are entering our second phase of growth where we will be focusing our efforts on driving focused, long-term growth. For this, we have put together a three-pronged strategy which includes market cultivation, optimizing e-commerce, and simply better strategy. Let me take you through these in detail. India is a 10-million shipments market and holds a special place for us, being the market where we started out. In the last four years, we have built local teams and hired local citizens to leverage their understanding and skills for the Indian market. We want to ensure that our products are always in line with what our users are looking for, and we believe that this understanding lies best with the citizens of the country itself. We want to bring more local and customized experiences to our users and we will do everything possible to make that happen through our market cultivation strategy.  Talking about our enhanced e-commerce strategy, we intend to strengthen our partnership with Flipkart and Amazon. We are also working towards establishing our International E-commerce Department (IEC) globally to strengthen our e-commerce DNA and unify channel management.  Moving forward, Realme also aims to simplify its product offerings, beginning with the GT Series and Number Series phones, giving additional importance to the quality of the product. While our GT Series will continue reaching for the future of tech and design, our Number Series will focus on making today’s tech innovations more accessible. At Realme, we have always ensured that we provide the best of everything to our customers, and moving forward, we want to continue to strengthen our commitment to deliver the best for our customers and leave no room for complaints or challenges.  Q With the festive season coming in, what are your expectations in terms of sales?  A. We are really excited about the festive season and our celebrations have already started. We held our 828 Realme Fan Festival sales between August 24 to August 28 during which we sold products worth more than INR 500 crore including smartphones and AIoT products. We also recently announced the Realme Festive Days sale, which commenced on September 8 and is live until September 16. During this sale, we have provided discounts and offers worth INR 700 crores across realme.com, Flipkart, and Amazon. We have already seen high demand and sold over 300,000 units in the first few days of the sale. Overall, we are expecting a 10% y-o-y growth during the festive season and are targeting to sell 6 million smartphone units and 1.7 million AIoT units across channels.  Q. What are your overall targets for 2022?  A. We aim to become the second largest smartphone brand in 2022 and emerge as the No.1 smart audio (TWS & Neckband) brand, Online No.1 tablet brand, and No.1 wearables brand in India.  In regard to our AIoT portfolio, we have already forayed into various categories, and the response from our customers has given us the confidence to not just expand further on our existing products, but also enter new categories. We’ll keep adding new products to our present product lineups. One of our major priorities has always been localization, and we collaborated with Bhagwati Electronics, Videotex International, Skyworth, and KHY to convert this into reality. Realme is working on attaining 100% local production for hearables and wearables in 2022 after already achieving 100% localization for smartphones and smart TVs in India. Q. Product line-up for the upcoming months A. Like I mentioned earlier, in our second stage of growth, we are focusing on expanding our current portfolio while emphasizing bringing superior quality products. Moving forward, we will add more products to our current categories and enter some new categories as well, keeping in line with our Simply Better strategy.  For more technology news, product reviews, sci-tech features and updates, keep reading Digit.in.

Working Group To Develop Efficiency Standard For Crypto Mining In Russia – Mining Bitcoin News – Bitcoin News https://collincountynewsonline.com/working-group-to-develop-efficiency-standard-for-crypto-mining-in-russia-mining-bitcoin-news-bitcoin-news/ Crypto industry experts have formed a working group to draft a standard for energy-efficient and profitable cryptocurrency mining in Russia. The rules will aim to help developers and data center operators offer investors increased hardware uptime. Russia Prepares to Improve Efficiency of Mining Facilities in 2023 A group of crypto specialists have teamed up to elaborate a standard that should improve the overall efficiency of mining and in particular the use of energy to mint digital currencies. The set of rules and procedures will be designed to increase the time the expensive data processing equipment operates under optimal load which should result in higher profitability. The standard, which is expected to be released for adoption in February next year, will be prepared by members of the Russian Association of Cryptoeconomics, Artificial Intelligence and Blockchain (Racib), the cryptocurrency sector, and other associated industries, the Russian crypto news outlet Bits.media reported this week. The decision to establish the working group was announced at a crypto summit held in Moscow, during a presentation on the topic made by representatives of Racib, mining data center operator Vekus Mining Development and Yuri Kudryashov, director of Russia’s Research Institute for Sustainable Development in Construction. The main purpose of the forum was to talk about the development of the digital environment and digital financial assets in general. Participants discussed the pending legalization of mining in Russia and other activities related to blockchain and cryptocurrencies, the introduction of central bank digital currencies, and the spread of tokenization. The summit also focused on education and security issues. New Standard Expected to Reduce Downtime at Crypto Mining Farms A scientific approach, with computer modeling of temperatures and speeds, should help to improve the quality of engineering solutions for mining modules, Yuri Kudryashov is convinced. It should also allow the proper calibration of ventilation systems, taking into account indicators such as humidity, season, region, and the particular location where a crypto mining unit is installed, the official elaborated. According to Vera Burtseva, strategic marketing director at Vekus Group, the efficiency standard the working group is tasked to develop will reduce shutdowns of mining hardware and downtime due to extreme weather conditions, and decrease maintenance costs while increasing the equipment’s operating time and service life. The new standard will be incorporated into the ‘Green Zoom’ national system of sustainable development in Russia’s construction sector. The same has already been applied in housing construction, the tourism industry, and the building of traditional data processing centers. Cryptocurrency mining, an expanding industry in energy-rich regions of the Russian Federation, is yet to be regulated on the federal level. Lawmakers in the Stated Duma, the lower house of parliament are expected to review comprehensive legislation in the coming months. Earlier this year Russia’s advantages as a mining destination were highlighted by President Vladimir Putin but sanctions imposed over Moscow’s decision to attack Ukraine hurt the business later. President Biden Says Pandemic Is ‘Over’ In US – News9.com KWTV https://collincountynewsonline.com/president-biden-says-pandemic-is-over-in-us-news9-com-kwtv/ Monday, September 19th 2022, 3:43 am By: CBS News In an interview aired on “60 Minutes” Sunday night, President Biden said the COVID-19 pandemic is “over” in the United States. “The pandemic is over. We still have a problem with COVID. We’re still doing a lotta work on it. … But the pandemic is over,” Mr. Biden said.  In an interview done as he walked the floor of the Detroit Auto Show last week, the president gestured around the hall and observed, “If you notice, no one’s wearing masks. Everybody seems to be in pretty good shape. And so I think it’s changing. And I think this is a perfect example of it.” Mr. Biden’s comments came only a few weeks after his administration asked Congress for billions of dollars to maintain its testing and vaccine programs through a potential fall COVID wave. But COVID restrictions have been largely eliminated in the U.S. and travel is back at pre-pandemic levels. Still, the president pointed to the pandemic as a big reason his approval rating has been well below 50%. “This is a really difficult time,” he remarked to CBS News correspondent Scott Pelley. “We’re at an inflection point in the history of this country. We’re gonna make decisions, and we’re making decisions now, that are gonna determine what we’re gonna look like the next ten years from now. I think you’d agree that the impact on the psyche of the American people as a consequence of the pandemic is profound. “Think of how that has changed everything. You know, people’s attitudes about themselves, their families, about the state of the nation, about the state of their communities. And so there’s a lot of uncertainty out there, a great deal of uncertainty. And we lost a million people. A million people to COVID. “When I got in office, when I– I got elected, only 2 million people had been vaccinated. I got 220 million– m– my point is it takes time. We were left in a very difficult situation. it’s been a very difficult time. Very difficult.” Hundreds of deaths are still attributed to COVID every day in the U.S. First published on September 19, 2022 / 4:39 AM © 2022 CBS Interactive Inc. All Rights Reserved.

Introducing Vaionex Gaming: BSV Blockchains Integration With Counter-Strike CoinGeek
Introducing Vaionex Gaming: BSV Blockchains Integration With Counter-Strike CoinGeek
Introducing Vaionex Gaming: BSV Blockchain’s Integration With Counter-Strike – CoinGeek https://collincountynewsonline.com/introducing-vaionex-gaming-bsv-blockchains-integration-with-counter-strike-coingeek/ Home » Interviews » Introducing Vaionex Gaming: BSV blockchain’s integration with Counter-Strike Vaionex Corporation recently introduced “Vaionex Gaming” to the world, kicking off with their demos on relysia.com/demo where they launched “Tower Blocks” and “Aviator” earlier this year. The Aviator alone created over 2.8 million transactions the day it was released, underscoring just how high the demand has become for blockchain-integrated gaming and the importance of using a blockchain that can scale. On September 9, Vaionex Gaming announced its latest contribution to gaming on the highly scalable BSV blockchain, the integration of BSV with the popular PC shooter game Counter-Strike. “The gaming industry is ripe for disruption and the BSV blockchain has all of the features that enable us to do this. Micropayments, in-game data uploads, digital collectibles and escrow staking can all be used to create a more enjoyable experience for gamers,” Adam Bishop, head of Vaionex Gaming Division, shared. But what does this mean, exactly? To clear up some of the cobwebs surrounding blockchain and gaming for those who might be newer to this space, Bishop was happy to answer some questions that illuminate the significance of BSV’s integration with Counter-Strike and what it means for the future of blockchain and gaming. Q: Congrats on the exciting news, Adam! Can you share with us how the BSV blockchain integration with Counter-Strike changes the game experience for players? With the integration with BSV, Counter-Strike players can earn rewards for every in-game action. The current reward system is as follows: 1 cent for a takedown, an additional cent if you got a headshot, and 2 cents for planting the bomb or defusing it. Being able to see your Relysia wallet stacking up in real time, along with the in-game notifications telling you how much money you earned for each action, changes the game dynamic completely. Players are more likely to be engaged long-term with these incentives. Q: Ok, what is the relationship between the Relysia Wallet and Vaionex Gaming? Vaionex Gaming is our gateway into the multibillion-dollar gaming industry. Relysia Wallet is our blockchain as a service API suite and consumer wallet. We see Vaionex Gaming as a collection of game integrations, development tools, and demonstrations on how easily Relysia can be used to create stunning Bitcoin SV apps that work. Q: Amazing. More on that later. Now, let’s focus on where you see the future of the Play-to-Earn (P2E) economy going for gaming. How does it compare to in-game advertising and subscription models? P2E, in-game advertising and freemium models will all collide to produce the future of gaming experiences. For example, it is possible to sell advertising space in our Counter-Strike server maps on the walls. Companies would pay to display their banner on the wall, and the payments would go to our community fund wallet for distribution in-game. Q: Got it. Moving on to your Vaionex Gaming blog post from September 9 that mentions “Unity plugins.” We know you intend to integrate BSV into many of the most popular games and make game development easier with these plugins. What exactly do you mean by this? AB: Some of the most popular games, such as: Fall Guys, Among Us, and Pokemon Go, were all developed with the Unity game engine. By developing these BSV integrated Unity plugins, we can directly increase the quality of game development on Bitcoin SV. A Relysia Unity plugin will deliver all the incentive functionality to build next-generation gaming experiences that can handle real-time payments, leaderboards, and NFT drops. There are some serious game studios that would like to build a game on Bitcoin, but don’t have the tools to connect up their Unity applications with the BSV blockchain—that is where the Unity plugins come in. Q: Outstanding, I love it! What about this: Counter-Strike integration (and integration with other popular games) vs. building games from scratch, totally powered by BSV—why have you chosen the former route? Is the latter route worth pursuing? Gaming and virtual experience is a multi-billion dollar industry with hundreds of millions of dollars invested in game development. 100 AAA game productions are likely to yield only one game that achieved the success of Counter-Strike. Therefore it is very unlikely that a blockchain company could produce such a game from scratch that is inherently fun and long-term motivating. In the earlier stages of blockchain adoption, with low user numbers and limited development funds, it makes sense to integrate with the AAA studio games to demonstrate how much better the gaming experience is with micropayments and digital assets. In the future, we will see games developed from scratch with the adequate development budgets needed to produce world popular games and the right kind of tools to build AAA blockchain-native games. Q: I cannot wait until that happens! In order to get us there, any final words on how Relysia can help other businesses build with BSV Blockchain? We invest a lot of time and resources into building a stable, efficient, and scalable backend system that any company can use and rely on for all their Bitcoin needs. The Relysia API suite can be used as building blocks to pick and choose how advanced you want your Bitcoin platform to be. With over 50 blockchain-related APIs, you can build any application you wish. Bitcoin companies that use Relysia API for their backend include my2Cents, Centi, MusicArt, NFTech, Satoshi Block Dojo Incubator startups, and many others. We are simplifying and accelerating Bitcoin application development. We help businesses reduce their time to market by many months, allowing them to quickly iterate through ideas and execution strategies to achieve product market fit. Amazing Adam. I love what you’re doing and can’t wait to follow your progress into the future. Thank you for your time. We appreciate it! Moodys Assigns Aa1 UND/Aaa ENH To Frisco ISD TXs GOULT Bonds Ser. 2022B Moodys
Moody’s Assigns Aa1 UND/Aaa ENH To Frisco ISD, TX’s GOULT Bonds, Ser. 2022B – Moody’s https://collincountynewsonline.com/moodys-assigns-aa1-und-aaa-enh-to-frisco-isd-txs-goult-bonds-ser-2022b-moodys/ New York, September 13, 2022 — Moody’s Investors Service has assigned Aa1 underlying and Aaa enhanced ratings to Frisco Independent School District, TX’s $78.5 million Unlimited Tax Refunding Bonds, Series 2022B. Moody’s maintains the district’s Aa1 issuer rating and the Aa1 general obligation unlimited tax (GOULT) underlying rating. The issuer rating reflects the district’s ability to repay debt and debt-like obligations without consideration of any pledge, security or structural features. The district’s outstanding GOULT debt will total $2.3 billion post-sale. The underlying rating outlook is stable. RATINGS RATIONALE The Aa1 issuer rating incorporates the district’s strong enrollment growth, driven by favorable demographic and economic trends, as well as its large and diverse tax base and high resident income. The rating also incorporates a healthy financial position with sizable reserves following several years of surplus operations and strong management. The rating also considers the high debt burden and fixed costs, which are both attributable to ongoing rapid enrollment growth and the need for further schools. The Aa1 underlying rating assigned to the GOULT bonds is equivalent to the Aa1 issuer rating based on the pledge of an unlimited property tax that is dedicated for debt service and levied upon all taxable property within the district. The Aaa enhanced rating is based on the rating of the Texas Permanent School Fund and the structure and legal protections of the transaction which provide for timely payment by the PSF if necessary. Moody’s currently rates the Texas Permanent School Fund Aaa. RATING OUTLOOK The stable outlook on the district’s long-term underlying ratings reflects the likelihood that the district’s conservative budgeting practices will enable the district to maintain healthy financial reserves and a manageable debt burden, despite rapidly growing enrollment. FACTORS THAT COULD LEAD TO AN UPGRADE OF THE RATINGS –     Substantial decrease in leverage –     Trend of materially improved reserves –     Not applicable (enhanced) FACTORS THAT COULD LEAD TO A DOWNGRADE OF THE RATINGS –     Material increase in the debt burden and fixed costs –     Significant tax base contraction –     Trend of operating deficits and declining reserves –     Rating downgrade of the Texas Permanent School Fund (enhanced) LEGAL SECURITY The bonds are payable from a dedicated ad valorem tax levied by the district on all taxable property without limitation as to rate or amount. The bonds are further payable by the Texas Permanent School Fund’s commitment to pay debt service if necessary. USE OF PROCEEDS The Series 2022B bonds will refund the outstanding Unlimited Tax School Building and Refunding Bonds, Series 2012B and the Unlimited Tax School Building and Refunding Bonds, Series 2013 for net present value savings with no extension of final maturity. PROFILE Frisco Independent School District is a K-12 school district located in Collin County (Aaa stable) in northeastern Texas (Aaa stable), extending into the eastern section of neighboring Denton County (Aaa stable). The district lies approximately 25 miles north of Dallas (A1 stable). The district has a current enrollment of 65,833. METHODOLOGY The principal methodology used in the underlying rating was US K-12 Public School Districts Methodology published in January 2021 and available at https://ratings.moodys.com/api/rmc-documents/70054. SoftBank-Backed India Start-Up Oyo Revives IPO Plans Amid Travel Rebound – The National https://collincountynewsonline.com/softbank-backed-india-start-up-oyo-revives-ipo-plans-amid-travel-rebound-the-national/ Oyo Hotels, the once high-flying Indian start-up, is reviving plans for a stock-market debut after cost cuts and a recovery in travel helped it to reduce losses. The hotel-booking company filed fresh financial documents on Monday and is now focusing on an initial public offering in early 2023 — provided that India’s stock market continues to hold up and economic conditions improve, sources said. Oyo, formally known as Oravel Stays, is internally working towards a January IPO as executives are encouraged by a pick-up in demand, they said. Oyo had filed preliminary IPO documents in 2021, only to shelve the listing plan earlier this year after the prolonged pandemic hurt its growth and forced the company to cut thousands of jobs. It disclosed its latest financials in an IPO filing addendum on Monday, with the numbers showing narrower losses and a rebound in sales for the year through March 2022 and the following three months. The start-up is now focusing on four main regions: India, Malaysia, Indonesia and Europe, where it manages holiday homes. It has cut down operations in markets it previously considered crucial, such as the US and China, where its employee count is now in single digits, a source said. Oyo and founder Ritesh Agarwal are trying to pull off a successful IPO after a series of setbacks in their efforts to change the hotel and lodging industry. SoftBank Group founder Masayoshi Son was an early and enthusiastic backer, and the Japanese conglomerate holds about 47 per cent in the Gurgaon-based start-up. Mr Agarwal, 28, owns about one third of it. The revived listing plan also underscores how India’s stock market is bucking the trend of globally declining tech stocks. Accelerating inflation, lingering Covid-19 infections and the war in Ukraine have sent the tech-heavy Nasdaq index down by 27 per cent this year. Meanwhile, India’s benchmark NSE Nifty 50 index is up by 1 per cent. Oyo reported a loss of 18.9 billion rupees ($237 million) for the year through March 2022, nearly halving from the previous 12 months. The numbers were restated from previously undisclosed figures and included in the IPO document addendum made available by its bankers. The annual loss before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation shrank to 4.8bn rupees from 18.7bn rupees. For the three months through June 2022, earnings on that basis were 105.75m rupees, while the net loss was 3.5bn rupees. Revenue from contracts with customers for the fiscal year through March 2022 increased by 21 per cent to 47.8bn rupees, with travel picking up as the pandemic eased. Revenue is still far below the 131.7bn rupees booked for fiscal 2020, before the full effect of the coronavirus kicked in. Oyo filed its preliminary document, the so-called Draft Red Herring Prospectus or DRHP, for a $1.1bn IPO in September last year. Twelve months have since lapsed without the listing being cleared. Earlier this year, it sought to file additional documents and received regulatory approval for the move. The start-up was most recently valued at $9bn, researcher CB Insights said. Ritesh Agarwal, founder of Oyo, which is based in Gurgaon, India. Photo: OYO Rooms Oyo was started in 2013 by Mr Agarwal, then 19, who dropped out of college to travel around the country. The start-up began to work with small hotels to standardise everything from bed linen to bathroom shower fittings that it then branded with its bright red and white Oyo logo. With backing from high-profile investors such as SoftBank and Lightspeed Venture Partners, it expanded furiously into South-East Asia, China, Europe and the US as it signed on hotel partners with agreements of guaranteed returns. At one point, Mr Agarwal ambitiously aimed for the title of the world’s No 1 branded stay operator. During the pandemic, Mr Agarwal was forced to overhaul the start-up’s business model. Oyo fired thousands of employees and stopped providing hotel vendors any guaranteed returns or capital to refurbish their properties. He described the shift as a transition to an “asset light” model. Instead of offering minimum guarantees, Oyo now supports hotel and vacation home partners with technology and product services, as well as customer support. Hotel owners can self-enrol, and manage bookings and services on its app. Updated: September 19, 2022, 7:13 AM

VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS SEPTEMBER 19 VietNamNet
VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS SEPTEMBER 19 VietNamNet
VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS SEPTEMBER 19 – VietNamNet https://collincountynewsonline.com/vietnam-business-news-september-19-vietnamnet/ The European Union (EU) will cut the import tax rate to 0% on Vietnamese rice-based products in the next 3-5 years, creating an opportunity for Vietnam to raise the competitiveness of its rice with other rice exporting countries. According to the Vietnam Trade Office in Belgium and the EU, the European Commission (EC) published the Official Journal, which contains Regulation (EU) 2022/1481 regarding the import duties applicable to certain types of husked rice imported to this market. The import duty for husked rice under the CN code 1006 20, other than husked basmati rice of the varieties referred to in Article 1 of the Commission Regulation (EC) No 972/2006, shall be 65 euro per ton. The regulation took effect as of September 8, 2022. Under the European Union–Vietnam Free Trade Agreement, the EU gives Vietnam an export quota of 80,000 tons of rice per annum, consisting of 30,000 tons of husked rice, 20,000 tons of wholegrain rice and 30,000 tons of fragrant rice. Vietnam’s broken rice will enjoy trade liberalization when it enters the EU, bringing the total estimated exports to 100,000 tons to the EU per annum. In addition to the advantages of the EVFTA, Vietnamese enterprises need to improve the rice quality and change their business approach to expand the market. Insurance companies urged to go digital soon Insurers should promote digital transformation rapidly as, compared to other financial industries, the insurance industry is considered to have slow digital transformation with limited economic efficiency. Despite efforts being made, the digital transformation of insurance companies is lagging, as most life insurance buyers still want to hold paper contracts instead of keeping them online and seeing them on mobile devices. Pham Thu Phuong, deputy director of the Ministry of Finance’s Insurance Supervision Authority (ISA), said the biggest challenge for insurance companies is an effective digital transformation strategy, as many companies, even foreign-invested ones, have not performed digitisation synchronously but only in some stages. According to Phuong, the economic efficiency of digital transformation of the insurance industry remains very limited. ISA’s statistics showed at present, the insurance revenue through digitised channels of the life insurance segment accounts for less than 5% of the total premium revenue of the market. The number of the non-life insurance segment is even lower at less than 1%. The digital transformation costs are not small while the insurance business relies on the majority and statistics in order to have correct premium calculation, therefore the more rapid, comprehensive and effective the digital transformation is, the more insurance companies gain. Thus, insurance companies need to develop strategies and calculate reasonable investment costs to promote digitisation effectively, Phuong noted. According to insurance companies, changing the habit of using technology in insurance activities is difficult, but the boom of digital transformation in life as well as the increasing number of young insurance customers are making it easier for users. Naren Baliga, Business Unit manager at Manulife Vietnam, told tinnhanhchungkhoan.vn that at first, when Manulife’s eClaims digitiser was first launched, many customers were not used to submitting documents online, but now, 95% of the insurance claims of Manulife Vietnam have been sent through this tool. For customers who are still using paper contracts, access to the benefits of electronic contracts as well as other paperless services is only a matter of time, Baliga said. According to the final conclusion, Canada applies an anti-dumping duty of 37.4% on the product from Vietnam and this rate is applied from September 6, 2022. Speaking at the event, deputy head of the Party Central Committee’s Economic Commission Nguyen Thanh Phong said developing a transparent and convenient real estate market will bring opportunities to draw capital at home and abroad, thus propelling socio-economic development. Prof. Hoang Van Cuong, Vice Rector of the National Economics University, said land price mechanism for real estate development must be in accordance with the land market value. The selection of realty developers must also follow market mechanism. The State must directly engage in land reclamation and compensation for site clearance in its all approved projects, he said. Meanwhile, former Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment Prof. Dang Hung Vo highlighted a need to add definition of market price under international standard into the revised Law on Land. WVU Rushing Attack Too Much For Towson | News, Sports, Jobs – The Inter-Mountain https://collincountynewsonline.com/wvu-rushing-attack-too-much-for-towson-news-sports-jobs-the-inter-mountain/ MORGANTOWN (AP) — On a day when West Virginia held a ceremony to honor some of its greatest offensive players, the Mountaineers put together their best showing in a year. Tony Mathis rushed for 104 yards and two touchdowns, CJ Donaldson ran for 101 yards and three scores, and West Virginia breezed to a 65-7 victory over Towson on Saturday. Although it didn’t quite make up for opening the season with close losses to No. 23 Pittsburgh and Kansas, West Virginia piled up 624 yards of offense, scored touchdowns on six of its seven first-half possessions and led its Championship Subdivision opponent 45-7 at halftime before pulling back with a short week before its next game. “Fun day,” said West Virginia coach Neal Brown. “These types of games are important. For the morale of your football team, they’re really important.” Johnson, a freshman, had his second 100-yard rushing effort of the season and pushed his TD total to six. He had just nine carries, an average of 11.2-yards per attempt. He also blocked a punt in the opener against Pitt. Most of his yards Saturday came on an 82-yard scoring run. Playing mostly on defense growing up, Donaldson came to West Virginia as a tight end but was quickly converted to running back and is still getting accustomed to his new role. “That’s my third game ever playing running back,” Donaldson said. “Today I kind of surprised myself with that long run.” Mathis exceeded his career total for touchdowns. He had one TD in 23 previous games. West Virginia (1-2) had 316 rushing yards. Its six rushing touchdowns were the most since it had seven both against Connecticut and Western Michigan in 2007. And yet Mathis felt it wasn’t a perfect game from the backfield. “Still a lot left. You can always get better every game,” he said. West Virginia’s JT Daniels completed 16 of 24 passes for 174 yards in the first half, including a 2-yard TD pass to Kaden Prather. Daniels was replaced by Garrett Greene, Will Crowder and Nicco Marchiol in the second half. Numerous other players saw their first significant action on both sides of the ball for West Virginia, including wide receivers Cortez Braham and Jeremiah Aaron. Braham had five catches for 60 yards and Aaron caught four passes for 29 yards, including his first career TD catch, a 5-yarder from Crowder in the fourth quarter. Redshirt freshman Preston Fox caught a 26-yard TD from Marchiol to close the scoring. Today’s breaking news and more in your inbox

PolkStation – One Stop For IDO/INO/IGO & Metaverse And Multi Defi Protocols – Coinpedia Fintech News https://collincountynewsonline.com/polkstation-one-stop-for-ido-ino-igo-metaverse-and-multi-defi-protocols-coinpedia-fintech-news/ Polkastation combines various DeFi protocols, NFT minting, and marketplace with the Polkadot framework as its base. Though early blockchains serve the purpose of deploying decentralized applications, there are limitations like lack of run-time specialization and limited throughput.  Polkastation wants to deliver a cutting-edge project in the blockchain space and thus chooses Polkadot, bridging multiple specialized chains into one sharded network. Polkadot offers the best returns in the market through various products. As these decentralized applications are deployed on Polkastation’s own blockchains, they have enhanced stability. PolkaStation Ecosystem Live Dapps: PolkaSwap:  Polkastation’s swap allows the instant exchange of two non-native tokens of two different blockchain protocols without any centralized cryptocurrency exchanges. Instead, the operations are decentralized, fueled by smart contracts. Polkastation’s swap also allows the users to add liquidity to pools. You can add your POLKA tokens to the liquidity pools in return for LP tokens. These LP tokens represent your contribution to the addition of liquidity, and you will be rewarded accordingly. NFT Space: Polkastation has an entire NFT ecosystem that facilitates the users to mint their artworks into NFTs, display them in their creator profiles, and make money by selling them on the NFT marketplace. One must need an artist account to create and sell NFTs in the Polkastation NFT marketplace. When a buyer makes an auction to buy your NFTs, the order will be stacked in the order book and executed. With Polkastation, your NFTs need not sit idle in the wallets. Polkastaion allows users to attach their NFTs to the NFT staking protocol in exchange for staking rewards. So, you can earn extra rewards for your NFTs while you still remain the owner. Farming:  The Polkastation AMM engine eliminates the need for intermediaries to carry out trades with the help of farms. Instead, the liquidity providers add LP tokens to the investment pools and get rewarded through yield farming. To enhance liquidity and make an asset a lucrative trade, Polkastation holds the investors’ funds. The period when a liquidity provider waits for the asset’s price to go up is yield farming. IDO Staking Pools:  Polkastation’s IDO staking pool is the easiest way of earning more POLKAS tokens. Two different pools allow you to stake POLKAS and earn POLKAS in return. The first POLKAS-POLKAS pool has a locking period of 30 days and offers an APR of 30%, while the second pool has a threshold lock-in of 60 days and a 50% APR. LaunchStation: Polkastation offers two different fundraising mechanisms, the INO and IDO. Initial NFT Offerings helps projects with innovative ideas to reach a broader and up-to-date web3 community. It helps the projects raise funds with seamless access to instant liquidity before they are functional in the market. The projects can run IDO on Polkastation after the vetting schedule process. They can offer their project tokens for a fixed price, and Polkastation allows users to lock their funds in return for the tokens. Polkastation then distributes the tokens to the investors with the help of smart contracts during the token generation event (TGE). Yield Aggregator: With hundreds of yield farms on the market daily, keeping track of the best-performing ones is tedious. If so, we can track a few; they are not accessible from a single point. To solve this problem, Polkstation has developed a Yield Aggregator to collate multiple best-performing farms in a single place. Polkastation hunts for yield optimization and secures farms in the market to help its community members maximize the yield. PolkaStation (POLKAS) is a Binance smart chain Bep20 token that is solely focused on providing holders with long-term holding benefits through staking, investment opportunity in their foundation and real use case for the entire ecosystem. Find Hidden Treasures At The Brick Basement | Lifestyle | Dailytitan.com – The Daily Titan https://collincountynewsonline.com/find-hidden-treasures-at-the-brick-basement-lifestyle-dailytitan-com-the-daily-titan/ Nestled in the heart of downtown Fullerton, The Brick Basement antique mall transports shoppers to a place filled with unique treasures, fabulous trinkets, beautiful glassware and classic gadgets. For the past 20 years, The Brick Basement has served as a place of comfort for new and returning customers.  Upon entering the red-framed glass doors, shoppers are immediately bombarded with an exquisite, season-themed welcome sign and colorful merchandise of all varieties.  The extensive assortment of items is arranged in a systematically chaotic fashion, and dividers indicate different antique dealer booths. The 17 dealers are not always present at the store, but they occupy specific areas where they can display their merchandise. Each space is uniquely designed by the dealers’ tastes and distinct styles. A small sign in one of the store’s corners points “to the basement,” leading customers to the store’s lower level. After descending a wooden staircase, customers find displays for framed posters, lampshades, vases and candle holders. But unlike the upstairs, the basement is a bit more of a disorganized mess rather than strategically placed items to appear like an aesthetically pleasing mess.  Behind the Brick Basement is Carol Walker and Nathan Piliero, its co-owners. Before purchasing The Brick Basement eight years ago, Walker owned and ran an antique store in Yorba Linda for 20 years. Walker started as a dealer in The Brick Basement, showcasing her treasures in a designated area. Once the previous owners decided to sell the place, Walker didn’t pass up the chance. Walker said that over the past eight years, she has built a rapport and one-of-a-kind relationship with her customers.  “You want to make sure that if they need something, even if it isn’t in the store, that you’re available because a lot of my customers are more mature,” she said. “My husband and I always tell them, ‘if you need help at home, let us know we’ll come over and we’ll do whatever we can for you there, too.’” Luis Rodriguez, a frequent customer and Cal State Fullerton student, was first introduced to The Brick Basement by a friend he met while taking a fashion design class.  “I think it has a lot of cool, unique stuff that a variety of people would like,” Rodriguez said. Walker emphasized the importance of customers like Rodriguez, for a small business, especially during the pandemic. “The pandemic was very difficult for all small businesses, I feel blessed that we were able to manage and walk our way through,” Walker said. Amid the pandemic, Walker said she had to make the difficult decision of cutting back store hours. “When you run a business, you have to think about all the costs of running it; and so you had to compress it to ensure that things were going well for you and for the dealers,” Walker said. Avid fans of antiquing and thrifting, Magdalena Jimenez and Dylan Banuelos visited the antique mall after finding out about it online. Jimenez said she and her boyfriend often like to visit downtown Fullerton. “We go to thrift and stuff like that, so I wanted to see if I could find anything cool here,” said Jimenez.  Walker believes that great customer service is the most important aspect of a business. “If you don’t make them feel welcome, if you don’t find out what they’re looking for, if you don’t allow them freedom to walk around— you lose business because they don’t want you to hover,” Walker said. “They want to have freedom.” For those who want to save money and connect with the community, The Brick Basement is the perfect hidden gem where customers can shop to their heart’s desire. For more information regarding store hours and new item arrivals, customers can find them through Instagram and Facebook.

Afghan state media reports said he had been among the last Afghans held at Guantanamo Bay detention camp. “Honorable Haji Bashir was released after two decades of imprisonment and arrived in Kabul today,” said Mohammad Naeem, a Taliban spokesperson based in Doha, in a Tweet. Bashir Noorzai, an Afghan tribal leader, was arrested in 2005 and charged with smuggling more than $50 million worth of heroin into the United States. Noorzai’s lawyer later denied his client was a drug dealer and argued the charges should be dismissed because U.S. government officials duped him into believing he would not be arrested. France’s ANJ Announces Board Changes – European Gaming Industry News – European Gaming Industry News https://collincountynewsonline.com/frances-anj-announces-board-changes-european-gaming-industry-news-european-gaming-industry-news/ Reading Time: 1 minute A new government report calls for a regulatory authority to monitor and classify online gaming websites in India. The report, drafted by a panel of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s top officials, called for intervention and a stricter classification of India’s online gaming sector. Previously, Indian skill-based gaming start-ups and industry associations sought a mechanism to regulate gaming platforms and classify online games based on skill or chance, helping the industry differentiates between games and gambling. The meeting with Minister of State for Electronics and Information Technology Rajeev Chandrasekhar took place on June 7, and the two-hour long session featured founders from several top mobile gaming platforms in India, including Nazara technologies, Mobile Premier League (MPL) and Dream Sports. The new report follows up on this meeting and calls for extensive regulation and classification. It also proposes the industry be regulated through rules covered under India’s existing IT law as an “Interim measure”. The proposed law will outline requirements to classify games as skill or chance and will determine new gaming formats. This framework will apply to esports, online fantasy sports, card games and other casual games. These rules will have to be followed by Indian companies, and companies that target Indian consumers. Also proposed is a “Code of Ethics” for gaming publishers that will require a robust grievance redressal mechanism and conformity to India’s KYC norms. Under the new laws, any gambling platform that offers real money games to Indian consumers will need to be a legal entity under Indian law. The law will also provide the government with blocking power for unregistered platforms. It also necessitates a three-tier dispute resolution system and an oversight committee set-up within an appropriate ministry within the government.

As Rally For 2 In 9th Use Seagers Error To Beat Rangers Plainview Daily Herald
A’s Rally For 2 In 9th, Use Seager’s Error To Beat Rangers – Plainview Daily Herald https://collincountynewsonline.com/as-rally-for-2-in-9th-use-seagers-error-to-beat-rangers-plainview-daily-herald/ ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — Stephen Vogt’s routine grounder with two outs in the ninth inning glanced off Texas shortstop Corey Seager’s glove, scoring the go-ahead run as the Oakland Athletics beat the Rangers 8-7 on Wednesday night. The A’s trailed 7-6 entering the ninth. Pinch-hitter Sheldon Neuse led off with a single and Vimael Machin tied it with a two-out double. Pinch-hitter Vogt then pulled a grounder and Seager, shifted to the right side of the diamond, misplayed it for an error that let Machin score. “For him to come through for us,” A’s manager Mark Kotsay paused and said, “I believe in Stephen Vogt.” Said Vogt, the 10-year veteran catcher: “Machin got the big knock to keep us alive and tie the game up and keep us in scoring position. I was trying to take the ball to left-center but just willed it over there between Seager and (Marcus) Semien. Just got it done, doesn’t really matter how.” The A’s are 2-71 when trailing after seven innings. Tyler Cyr (1-0) got five outs for his first big league win. Jose Leclerc (0-3) took the loss. Domingo Acevedo earned his first save. With a runner on second base and two out, Acevedo entered to cool off the Rangers’ Mark Mathias by striking him out. Mathias had hit tying and walk-off homers on Tuesday. “Obviously, you get flashbacks from (Tuesday) night and a walk-off homer,” A’s manager Mark Kotsay said. He brought in Acevedo to pitch to Mathias after Sam Moll got the first two outs. “Sam wanted to finish that game,” Kotsay said, “but I thought we had a good match-up with Acevedo in there.” Vogt was behind the plate for the game-ending strikeout of Mathias. “I’m sure he’ll cherish (the home runs) for the rest of his life.” In Wednesday’s second inning, Mathias homered in his third consecutive at-bat. According to the Elias Sports Bureau, Mathias was the first Rangers player since Roughned Odor in 2019 to hit home runs in three straight at-bats. No Ranger has had a longer home run streak in their 51 seasons. Mathias, a 28-year-old rookie, drove in a third-inning run with a single for his fifth consecutive hit and sixth RBI in a span of six innings, including Tuesday’s two-homer performance. Texas acquired him from Milwaukee as part of a deadline-day trade for right-hander Matt Bush, and recalled Mathias from Triple-A Round Rock on August 16. The consecutive-hit streak for Mathias ended at five when he struck out in the fifth. Playing third base for the Rangers for the second time this season, Mathias showed defensive ability in the fifth inning. He charged a grounder by Nick Allen and threw across the diamond in time to record an out. With the roof open, the Rangers’ home played as a hitters’ park. Each team hit three home runs — Mathias, Marcus Semien and Jonah Heim for Texas and Dermis Garcia, Seth Brown and Tony Kemp for Oakland. Collin Wiles, a 28-year-old right-hander, made his major league debut in relief for Oakland 10 years after the Rangers drafted him in the first round. He gave up two runs and three hits in 1 1/3 innings. The addition of Wiles extended A’s records to 60 players, 31 rookies, 19 rookie pitchers and 17 major league debuts this season. TRAINER’S ROOM Rangers: OF Eli White, who has been out since mid-June after fracturing his right wrist, was pulled back from his rehab assignment with Triple-A Round Rock because of left knee discomfort. He will be shut down for the season. … RHP Joe Barlow felt good after throwing a 25-pitch live BP session Wednesday. He has been out since mid-August because of a blister on his right index finger and could go on a minor league rehab assignment this weekend. … RHP Spencer Howard (right shoulder impingement) is expected to pitch Saturday at Round Rock. UP NEXT A’s: RHP James Kaprielian (3-9, 4.79 ERA) will open a four-game series at Houston against RHP Lance McCullers Jr. (3-1, 2.20). Rangers: After a day off Thursday, Texas LHP Martin Perez (11-6, 2.77) will start the opener of a three-game series at Tampa Bay against RHP Corey Kluber (10-8, 4.36). ___ More AP MLB: https://apnews.com/hub/MLB and https://twitter.com/AP_Sports

Adani Group To Become Most Profitable Cement Manufacturer The Indian Express
Adani Group To Become Most Profitable Cement Manufacturer – The Indian Express https://collincountynewsonline.com/adani-group-to-become-most-profitable-cement-manufacturer-the-indian-express/ Days after completing a USD 6.5 billion acquisition of Ambuja Cements and ACC, billionaire Gautam Adani said his group has planned to double cement manufacturing capacity and become the most profitable manufacturer in the country. He saw a multifold rise in cement demand in India on the back of record-breaking economic growth and the government’s infrastructure creation push, which will give significant margin expansion. In a speech made at an event to mark the completion of the acquisition on September 17, the Adani Group founder and chairman said the ports-to-energy conglomerate has in a single stroke become the second largest cement manufacturer in the country. Adani Group last week completed buyout of Swiss major Holcim’s stake in the two firms. Calling the acquisition historic, he said this buyout is India’s largest ever inbound M&A transaction in the infrastructure and materials space and closed in a record time of 4 months. “Our entry into this business is happening at a time when India is on the cusp of one of the greatest economic surges seen in the modern world,” he said in the speech, which was released on Monday. Stating reasons for the foray into the cement space, he said while India is the second largest producer of cement in the world, its per capita consumption is just 250 kg compared to 1,600 kg of China. “This is almost a 7x headroom for growth.” Also, “as several of the government’s programmes gather momentum, the long-term average growth in cement demand is expected to be 1.2 to 1.5 times the GDP. We anticipate growing at twice this number,” he said. With trillion-dollar investment planned in infrastructure and housing in the country, cement is an attractive “adjacency to our infrastructure business, especially the group’s ports and logistics business, green energy business, and the e-commerce platform being developed,” he said. Adani Group’s competency in driving operational efficiency will result in “significant margin expansion to become the most profitable cement manufacturer in the country,” he said. “And we anticipate going from the current 70 million tonne capacity to 140 million tonne in next 5 years.” On his group’s growth philosophy, Adani, 60, said it is the belief in India’s growth story. India will be a USD 25-30 trillion economy by 2050, which points to huge growth prospects, he said. The group is the world’s largest solar power company and has committed USD 70 billion investment in clean energy business including green hydrogen, he said. Adani Group is the largest airport operator in the nation with 25 per cent of passenger traffic and 40 per cent of air cargo. It is the largest ports and logistics company in the country with a 30 per cent market share. “We are India’s largest integrated energy player spanning generation, transmission, distribution, LNG, LPG, city gas and piped gas distribution. Each of these businesses is growing at double-digit rates,” he said. While the group has won some of the largest road contracts in the country and is on the way to becoming the largest player in this sector, a grand IPO of Adani Wilmar has made it the highest-valued FMCG company in the country. “We have declared our path forward in multiple new sectors that include data centers, super apps, aerospace and defence, industrial clouds, metals, and petrochemicals,” he said. “Our finances are stronger than ever before, and we continue to raise billions of dollars from international markets and strategic partners to further accelerate our growth.” Adani Group’s market cap, he said, stands at USD 260 billion – having grown faster than any company ever in India, he added.

The process is a part and parcel of life that you have to face and accept wholeheartedly. However, with that, comes a need for an anti-ageing skincare regime. Because of course, people feel if they are ageing anyway, do it rather gracefully. The process of ageing starts showing on your skin first, sometimes, at an early age as well, and no one likes dullness, or wrinkles developing on the face. There are many anti-ageing products available on the market. But, you should also know that your food habits go a long way in keeping your skin healthy. Dr Kiran shares a post on Instagram listing superfoods for anti-ageing. She states, “Ageing is a change. And we all change, every year, every decade. But does ageing mean bad skin? Not if I can help it. Not if you can help it. Sometimes, a lot of what ages us, somewhat prematurely, besides genes, are environmental factors and a bad diet.” In a detailed caption, she also says, “Diets comprising high fat, processed food or fast food, fried food, packaged food, irradiated food, junk food margarine and starchy vegetables create oxidative stress, resulting in the production of more free radicals.” She further explains, “A balanced diet is of utmost importance to maintain healthy skin. Eat lots of fruits and vegetables that are rich in minerals and vitamins known for their anti-ageing benefits.” According to Dr Kiran, here are the superfoods for anti-ageing: Food items that are powerhouses of antioxidants: 1. Beans Small red beans (dried) are the highest source of antioxidants in the world. In fact, it has been found that three out of five of the highest antioxidant potential foods are beans. This food item fights free radicals and is extremely beneficial for healthy ageing. Red kidney beans have plenty of antioxidants and overcome free radicals easily. 2. Tomatoes Tomatoes contain antioxidants and lycopene. The latter prevents cancer (prostate cancer), and muscular degeneration. It also has anti-ageing properties. 3. Berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries) Berries are abundant in fibre, vitamins, minerals and anti-oxidants – all of these help in the prevention of cancer and heart disease and check age-related damage. 4. Red grapes Red grapes have resveratrol and quercetin that strengthen heart function. The antioxidants act as free-radical scavengers and help keep blood vessels unblocked. Resveratrol also protects against gastric problems, stroke and arthritis. 5. Pomegranates Pomegranates, known to contain beneficial nutrients and antioxidants help reduce blood pressure and the impact of cardiovascular and heart disease.   6. Teas and spices Ground cloves, cinnamon and oregano have rich content of antioxidants. 7. Vitamin C This helps facilitate youthful skin and collagen synthesis. Natural sources of vitamin C are citrus fruits such as oranges, lemons and some other vegetables. 8. Vitamin A It protects the body from solar radiation severity. Sources of vitamin A are carrots, broccoli, kale, tomatoes etc. 9. Vitamin E This keeps the skin healthy and youthful. It fights skin ageing from within. Sources of vitamin E are sunflower oil, grains, oats, nuts and avocado. 10. Roots Ginger assists the digestive system. It eases arthritis and reduces free radicals in the body. Radish and turnip are known to be excellent anti-ageing foods.Garlic is packed with antioxidants and is known for anti-ageing benefits. It fights free radicals and prevents blood clotting. 11. Nuts Remember, peanuts are legumes and they are well-known to be inflammatory. So, don’t add those to your anti-ageing diet. Walnuts are good for anti-ageing as they are abundant in omega-3 fatty acids. Nuts strengthen the immune system and remove dryness from the skin. Avoid rancid nuts as they are abundant in free radicals.   Take a look: Now, don’t forget to include these food items in your diet. Stay healthy. Pomerenke Caps Cardinals’ Comeback Victory | News, Sports, Jobs – Fairmont Sentinel https://collincountynewsonline.com/pomerenke-caps-cardinals-comeback-victory-news-sports-jobs-fairmont-sentinel/ WALL OF DEFENSE — Fairmont Area’s Adrian Sanchez (14) kicks the soccer ball away from Albert Lea’s Diego Balbuena Vidal (white jersey) as Cardinal teammates (left to right) Ben Heinze (12), Carson Pomerenke (4), Matthew Kotewa (6), goalkeeper Jack Kosbab and Josiah Hoye (7) form a defensive wall during action Saturday at Kot Soccer Complex in Fairmont. (Photo by Greg Abel) FAIRMONT — Carson Pomerenke fully comprehends his job as a sweeper — prevent strikers from getting open looks on net, get a foot on every opposing shot, clear the ball if short-handed and quarterback the offense from his bird’s-eye perspective. Pomerenke, however, experienced an up-close-and-personal view at the opposite end of the field at Jeffery Kot Soccer Complex on Saturday. Fairmont Area head coach Brady Meyer moved his senior defender to striker during the final 10 minutes of regulation and the move paid dividends. Jack Sadusky knocked home the equalizer at the 6:22 juncture before Pomerenke delivered the go-ahead and eventual game-winning goal with 2:29 showing on the scoreboard to cap the Cardinals’ 2-1 comeback victory over the Albert Lea Tigers. “We (coaching staff) wanted to try another option and it (the switch) worked,” said Meyer, whose lineup outshot the Tigers by a 7-3 margin and held a 9-3 edge in corner kicks during the nonconference match in Fairmont. “Trailing 1-0 at halftime, we told our guys to keep feeding the forwards and eventually we’d get a good look on net.” Albert Lea grabbed a 1-0 lead when Alex Palmer took a lead pass from teammate Michael Olson, rushed the right wing and booted a 20-degree angled shot that hit the left pipe and crossbar before settling into the net with 18:44 remaining in the opening half. “That’s an angled shot usually only MLS (Major League Soccer) put in the net,” said Meyer. “(Fairmont Area netkeeper) Jack (Kosbab) didn’t have a chance at stopping that shot, and it went in.” Down by a goal, defenders Wyatt Luhmann and Adrian Sanchez, along with midfielders Ben Heinze, Josiah Hoye and Lincoln Becker, heeded Meyer’s halftime speech and consistently looked up the field for their forwards during the final 40 minutes. “Our guys stuck to the game plan and finally tied it up late in the second half,” said Meyer. Hoye accelerated down the left sideline, worked the end line and sent a low liner through Tiger defenders to Sadusky, who punched home the doorstep goal near the right pipe for a 1-all score with 6:22 remaining. Pomerenke then patrolled the middle of the box as striker Matthew Kotewa muscled his way through a bevy of players along the left end line. Kotewa chipped an accurate pass to a leaping Pomerenke, who found the twine for the eventual game-winning goal with just 2:29 to go. Ironically, Pomerenke and Luhmann later swept away a couple of late drives by the Tigers with less than a minute remaining in regulation to seal the win. Kosbab made two saves to net the victory between the pipes for the Cardinals, while Albert Lea goalkeeper Juan Carlos Perez Peralta notched five stops. “After missing the last two games due to illness, it was nice to get Jack back in goal today,” said Meyer. Fairmont Area (3-5-1) plays host to Big South Conference opponent New Ulm at 7 p.m. Tuesday night at Kot Soccer Complex, while Albert Lea (0-6) plays host to Big Nine Conference rival Mankato West on Tuesday. Kennedy Becker drilled home Fairmont Area’s initial goal off a right-to-left crossing pass from Kate Busche for a 1-0 lead with 3:53 remaining in the first half of the 10-minute extra session. Selma Bleess then delivered an 18-yard insurance goal off an assist from Emma Scheppmann with just 26 seconds to go in the second overtime segment. Madi Stromberg stopped all 11 shots she faced between the pipes to earn the shutout for the Cardinals. Albert Lea netkeeper Madison Vandersyde recorded a game-best 20 saves in the loss. Fairmont Area (5-5) travels to Big South Conference opponent New Ulm on Tuesday night. Frankie Martin and Ingrid Edman netted two goals apiece, while netkeeper Addie Folkerts pitched a shutout to pace Fairmont Area’s 5-0 victory over Albert Lea during C-squad action Saturday in Fairmont. Martin converted Makenzie Gerhardt’s pass into the game’s first goal before finding the net off an assist from Addy Urban. Edman then connected for a goal off an assist from Abbie Simpson before Edman tallied an unassisted goal. Molly Leiding capped the Cardinals’ offensive production with an unassisted goal.
