10 Heroes In TV Shows With The Most Unhelpful Abilities – CBR – Comic Book Resources https://collincountynewsonline.com/10-heroes-in-tv-shows-with-the-most-unhelpful-abilities-cbr-comic-book-resources/ One major appeal of superheroes is the variety of their abilities, which are often used for the good of humanity. Some of these abilities are supernatural while others are learned or practiced. The uniqueness of each ability helps viewers identify with heroes and root for them in their fight against a common enemy. While most heroes tend to contribute to the betterment of civilization with their powers, others are more of a hindrance than a help. Sometimes there are characters whose abilities even contribute to the plight of civilians, or worse, directly aid the very force of evil they’re trying to defeat. 10 Clover’s Accessorizing Liability (Totally Spies) Selecting the perfect shade of lipstick might be crucial for a night out, but it isn’t a skill in high demand when it comes to spying. In Totally Spies, Clover is certainly crafty with her gadgets, but her need to accessorize often lands her and her team in more sticky situations than is called for on top-secret missions. From getting distracted from the task at hand to sometimes fully exposing the team on a recon assignment, Clover’s fashionista tendencies are definitely not suited for undercover life. Compared to her teammates’ mental and physical contributions, her desire to accessorize is rarely, ironically, a fashionable asset. 9 Shippo’s Short-Lasting Transformations (Inuyasha) While Shippo has a fierce heart and an abundance of determination for a fox demon child, sometimes it seems like that’s all he has to offer his team in the anime, Inuyasha. His main asset is his ability to transform via his foxfire magic, which isn’t much more than a bag of tricks. Most of the time, when Shippo tries to use his magic, one of his older friends comes to his aid before a larger more powerful demon can devour him. Even though he can change his appearance to trick his enemies, his transformations are usually exposed within minutes…which is also how long his magic lasts. 8 Kole’s Immobility Is A Roadblock (Teen Titans) Turning into a material as hard as crystal sounds impressive, but it’s far less so when it renders the individual immobile. In Teen Titans, Kole’s ability to change into an organic crystal could technically work as a shield, but she’s only able to become a weapon if someone is strong enough to wield her like a hammer. In her crystal form, Kole also lacks the means to communicate, increasing the potential for confusion in the heat of battle. Her power is only helpful under very specific circumstances. So, in most situations, she’s a sitting duck or a literal roadblock. 7 Sea Hawk’s Fire-Wielding Burns Both Friends And Foes (She-Ra and the Princesses of Power) In She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, there’s no shortage of powerful royals with extraordinary capabilities. Despite the competition, Captain Sea Hawk still finds a way to burn brightly… but that’s exactly the problem. While intimidating, Sea Hawk’s fire-wielding abilities end up burning far more than his foes. Due to his clumsy nature, the captain’s fire-based combat frequently results in him setting fire to his own ships. While Sea Hawk assures his comrades the practice is intentional, it’s difficult to form a convincing argument when the characters’ one method of escape goes up in smoke. 6 Sheen Estevez’s High-Speed With Low Bladder Control (The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius) In The Adventures of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius, super speed might seem like a blast, unless you have to pump the brakes every few seconds. That’s exactly the plight of Sheen Estevez in the episode, “The N Men.” His alter ego, Vibrating Lad, must constantly stop his high-speed racing to take a bathroom break. It’s definitely not an optimal time to visit the restroom when facing off against a villain in a high-stakes battle. Sheen proves how even the strongest of bladders are terrible assets when the need to frequently relieve oneself requires abandoning comrades. 5 Squidward’s Eruptive Headshots (Spongebob Squarepants) Squidward’s alter ego, Krakatoa, might have a lot of firepower in Spongebob Squarepants, but that power proves detrimental when it isn’t controlled. The ability to spout volcanic lava from the top of one’s head will surely frighten enemies, but it can also severely injure allies. Squidward’s hot-headed capability proves exactly that in the episode, “Mermaid Man and Barnacle Boy V,” when the steaming squid literally melts Spongebob down to his boots. With results like that, it’s an ability successful hero teams wouldn’t touch with a ten-foot pole. 4 Kosei Tsuburaba’s Solid Air Falls Flat (My Hero Academia) The ability to manipulate air sounds cool, but Kosei Tsuburaba’s powers in My Hero Academia reveal it’s definitely not a breeze. The hero-in-training can create solid walls by manipulating the air with his breath. However, the ability doesn’t lend itself to offensive advantages, and to make matters worse, it barely holds as a defense either. Tsuburaba’s walls prove little more than air traffic, being easily shattered with a well-timed attack. During the U.A. school sports festival, fellow student Bakugou shatters Tsuburaba’s shield with minimal effort, rendering him and his allies defenseless. With a shield like that, a hero is really only blowing hot air. 3 Catman’s Kitty Litter (The Fairly Oddparents) While Catman thinks he’s only a whisker away from being a true hero, the items in his utility belt are stepping on his own tail. In The Fairly Oddparents, the aspiring crime-fighter often gets Timmy and his fairies into hairy situations with his unhelpful bag of tricks, which include absorbent kitty litter. While Catman undoubtedly means well in his heroic endeavors, something as messy and mundane as litter is unlikely to serve as the fatal blow against a tough opponent. The neighborhood cats may appreciate this gadget, but when it comes to fighting evil, Catman will most certainly be killed without curiosity. 2 Zan Is The Lesser Half (Teen Titans Go!) Being compared to a sibling is never fun, but it isn’t even a contest when it comes to the Wonder Twins’ superhuman abilities in Teen Titans Go!. One member of the duo, Jayna, can transform into any animal, while Zan can only change into a state of matter. Becoming a solid, liquid, or gas might be considered supernatural, but it’s also super unhelpful in battle. In the episode “You’re Fired!”, the Titans begrudgingly recruit Zan because he and his sister are a package deal. While Jayna is off fighting crime, the team finds Zan’s abilities are more suited to secretarial work. 1 Tatami Nakagame’s Underwhelming Shrinking (My Hero Academia) Changing one’s size could come in handy for evading projectiles in battle, but it’s far less desirable when it’s all a hero can offer. Tatami Nakagame’s telescopic power in My Hero Academia allows her to withdraw her limbs into her body… but that’s it. Even when she withdraws, it takes a solid minute for her to return to her original form, leaving her and her team wide open for more blows. Tatami would undoubtedly be the first pick in a game of dodgeball, but certainly not in the field of battle. An ability like hers is a nuisance on the best of days and a liability on the worst. In an interview with CNBC, the New York Times best-selling author called Bitcoin, as well as the real estate market, a “tumor” that has been brought on by incompetent monetary policy. He opined that years of zero percent interest rates maintained by the U.S. Federal Reserve Bank damaged the economy and created bubbles like Bitcoin.  “At zero interest rates… for long periods of time, you are hurting the economy. You’re creating bubbles, creating tumors like bitcoin, creating hedge funds that should not exist but have existed for 15 years,” Taleb said.  His statement is in reference to the Fed holding funds target rate at a range of 0% to 0.25% between 2008 and 2015 to tackle the 2008 global financial crisis. The Fed also cut rates to near zero again in 2020 in response to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Taleb maintained that this easy-money monetary policy has left an entire generation of investors oblivious of the effects of a recession – a phenomenon that last occurred in the 1980s. However, they are in for a rude awakening as the Fed is now determined to slow down inflation by implementing interest rate hikes to bring markets “back to normal economic life.”   When asked what he would consider normal, he said he expects the interest rate to rise to around three to four percent.  Does Bitcoin price drops coinciding with Fed rate hikes prove Taleb right?  This is not the first time the former options trader has criticized Bitcoin. Last year, he called the pioneer digital currency a “contagious disease” and an “obsolete product of low-interest rates” that has “zero value” in an interview with CNBC.  Meanwhile, the Fed’s drive to rein in inflation has been having a marked effect on the price of Bitcoin. According to historical data pointed out by TIME, the price of Bitcoin dropped by at least 10% following the first three Fed rate hikes in March, May, and June.  The report asserts that while the July rate hike was less severe, there is a clear pattern of Fed rate hikes corresponding with drops in the crypto market. This is why it expects that the rate hike the Fed could implement next week will again rock the market.  Regardless, Bitcoin proponents have held the asset continues to serve the purpose it was created for in 2009 in the long term. According to the Bitcoin white paper, the creation of Bitcoin was prompted by the failure of economic policies and lack of transparency that resulted in the global market crash of 2008.

Why You Should Visit The San Rafael Swell Recreation Area In Utah The Washington Post
Why You Should Visit The San Rafael Swell Recreation Area In Utah The Washington Post
Why You Should Visit The San Rafael Swell Recreation Area In Utah – The Washington Post https://collincountynewsonline.com/why-you-should-visit-the-san-rafael-swell-recreation-area-in-utah-the-washington-post/ I wave goodbye to my husband, Derek, and our friends Chase and Tara until they disappear around a corner in a brushy wash in Utah’s San Rafael Swell. The four of us have rendezvoused here, about three hours south of Salt Lake City, for a three-day canyoneering trip. The harsh, high-desert anticline is almost as big as Delaware and home to such wildness and alien-looking geology that the Mars Society has built a Mars Desert Research Station there. Trail signs, support services and paved roads are as scarce as other visitors. But this morning, on Day 2 of our trip, I decide it will be better for everyone if I hike and hang out in camp instead of going on the group’s planned canyoneering adventure down Knotted Rope Canyon. Derek offers to stay behind, too, but I tell him no. Just because I can’t do Knotted Rope doesn’t mean he shouldn’t. Also, I enjoy solo time, especially when the landscape is as big as the thinking I have to do. Yesterday in another canyon, symptoms from multiple sclerosis, an incurable, degenerative neurological disease with which I was diagnosed when I was 30, put myself and the group in danger. Today, after 16 years of fighting against and/or ignoring MS-caused limitations — denying them allows me to believe, if only one adventure at a time, that I’m in control — I’m trying something different, albeit reluctantly. My wave goodbye is accompanied by tears. The first four hours of our first canyoneering adventure, in Lower Eardley Canyon, are most excellent. From a camp we established near the Eardley Canyon Trailhead in the southern section of the Swell, we walk up Straight Wash, a wide slash of sand sometimes shaded by cottonwood trees and sometimes congested with nests of cottonwood carcasses deposited by flash floods. (Although there are two major rivers that cut through the Swell, it is Interstate 70 that has been the dividing line between north and south sections since 1970.) After two miles, we leave the wash to make our way up a jumbly ridge seemingly stitched together by the arthritic, extensive roots of dwarf juniper and pinyon trees. After about 45 minutes and 800 vertical feet of elevation gain, we’re at the top of a gully that, once we descend it, will drop us into the middle of Eardley Canyon. At the bottom of the gully, we’re no longer hiking, but canyoneering, which does include hiking, but also scrambling, wading, stemming, problem-solving, rock climbing, swimming, rappelling, squeezing and even butt sliding. When canyoneering, you wear a climbing harness and helmet and, depending on the time of year and amount of swimming, maybe a wet suit. There are many ways canyoneering can injure or kill you, including hypothermia, drowning and falling. According to Christopher Hagedorn, the owner and lead guide of Get in the Wild Adventures, which specializes in combining guided trips in Utah and Washington with teaching clients how to be safe and recreate responsibly in the outdoors, the San Rafael Swell is “one of the very best canyoneering destinations in the world.” Until recently, the Swell’s landscape had no protective designations, even though there had been a decades-long push for it to be recognized as a national park or monument. In 2019, though, the bipartisan John D. Dingell, Jr. Conservation, Management, and Recreation Act established wilderness areas within the Swell, totaling about 663,000 acres, and also established the approximately 217,000-acre San Rafael Swell Recreation Area. The Bureau of Land Management manages the wilderness areas and the recreation area. The act also roughly tripled the size of Goblin Valley State Park, in the southern part of the Swell and one of Utah’s most popular, to nearly 10,000 acres. There is canyoneering to be done in the Swell’s wildernesses, recreation area and state park. Because we wanted solitary car camping — pitching our tent within feet of our parked car and with no neighbors in sight — we’re in the recreation area. Wilderness camping requires backpacking (i.e., carrying all of your equipment with you); Goblin Valley State Park has a developed campground with 25 sites, two yurts and showers, but it’s also crowded — relatively speaking. In Eardley, we don wet suits, harnesses and helmets. I’m fortunate that the progression of my MS, which about 2.8 million people have worldwide, has been minor. My balance can get wonky and sometimes my body is unable to regulate its temperature. A feature of slot canyons is that little sunlight reaches their floors. In October in the sun in the Swell, the air temperature is in the low 70s. In Lower Eardley Canyon, the water and air temperature are both about 50 degrees. To keep myself from spiraling into hypothermia, I put on extra layers of clothing beneath my wet suit that Derek, Chase and Tara don’t bother wearing. Then we set off. There are boulders to be negotiated, sandstone slabs we slide down on our butts, and places in which our feet stem out to the side, our sticky-rubber-soled shoes creating friction against the narrow walls. We rappel into porcelain-smooth sandstone bowls filled with water the color and clarity of chocolate milk. We swim through the chocolate milk and then, on the far side, problem-solve how to climb out of the featureless rock. It’s part obstacle course, part escape room. A helping hand or a rope is almost always required. It is the best adventure ever until Chase starts setting up the fourth of six rappels. I had been keeping a chill at bay by, where the topography allowed, doing air squats, lunges and jumping jacks. These work until they don’t, and I go from chilly to freezing quickly: My lips turn blue and my fingers white. Derek takes off the Gore-Tex jacket he’s wearing over his wet suit and puts it on me. I’m shivering too hard to manage the zipper on my own, though. I’ve never gotten this cold before, and I become terrified we won’t make it out of the canyon and into the sunshine of Straight Wash before I’m fully hypothermic. If this happens, it will be the responsibility of Derek, Chase and Tara to rescue me. Full-on hypothermia doesn’t happen, but it does take an hour of lying almost naked on a sunbaked sandstone slab in Straight Wash at the mouth of Eardley Canyon for my shivering to stop. Hours later, brushing my teeth, I drop my toothbrush into the sand, because my fingers still aren’t fully functional. Knotted Rope Canyon has at least as many pools as Lower Eardley and is longer. The decision not to go is as right as it is hard. By myself in camp is not hard, though. It is cheesecake for breakfast followed by a nap in the sunshine. It is no pressure. It is picking out a mesa in the near distance and seeing whether I can get to the top of it. It is sitting on the mesa’s summit and straining to see whether there are any marks of humanity beyond the road to our campsite and our car and tent. (There aren’t.) It is relaxing in camp, reading our canyoneering guidebook and finding a slot canyon that doesn’t require swimming for all of us to do together tomorrow. It is giving up being good. Everybody has something. I have MS. I have also had cancer, been divorced and had more close friends die than the average 46-year-old. None of us get to choose our somethings, or choose how they respond to our attempts to control them. Our choice is how we perceive and live with the limitations and baggage of our things. In the Swell’s limitless landscape, I choose to see my limits as an opportunity to be free. Mishev is a writer based in Jackson Hole, Wyo. Her website is dinamishev.com. Chargers Vs. Chiefs Final Score Highlights: Kansas City Holds Off LA Injured Justin Herbert With Jaylen Watson Pick-Six Sporting News
Chargers Vs. Chiefs Final Score Highlights: Kansas City Holds Off LA Injured Justin Herbert With Jaylen Watson Pick-Six Sporting News
Chargers Vs. Chiefs Final Score, Highlights: Kansas City Holds Off LA, Injured Justin Herbert With Jaylen Watson Pick-Six – Sporting News https://collincountynewsonline.com/chargers-vs-chiefs-final-score-highlights-kansas-city-holds-off-la-injured-justin-herbert-with-jaylen-watson-pick-six-sporting-news/ If nothing else, the Amazon Prime’s “Thursday Night Football” debut was entertaining. In an AFC West showdown between Patrick Mahomes and Justin Herbert, the two delivered a riveting game that was decided by one crucial mistake between them. The Chiefs pulled out a 27-24 win over the Chargers, their first win over their division foe in the past three seasons. Although the Chargers got out to a 17-7 lead behind a methodical offense and an excellent showing from Mike Williams, the Chiefs came back to score 20 unanswered points to open up a 10-point lead, which the Chargers were unable to overcome. The defining moment of the game came at 17-17, when Herbert was picked off at the goal line by Jaylen Watson, which the rookie housed from 99 yards out. Herbert threw into coverage trying to find Gerald Everett, and Watson undercut him to make the biggest play of the game. MORE: NFL Week 1 overreactions Mahomes, however, was far from perfect. He made a few questionable throws, including two on one drive that could have (and arguably should have) been picked off by Asante Samuel Jr. The second one looked like the pick six Watson eventually got, and the Chiefs were able to get a field goal on the drive. Herbert, to his credit, battled injuries at the end of the game that created some truly head-scratching moments. After Chase Daniel had already taken a snap, Herbert scrambled on the Chargers’ last dive. With daylight ahead of him, he limply spiked the ball instead of running for the first down. On fourth-and-1, however, Herbert unleashed a rocket to DeAndre Carter, who hauled it in on the five. Eventually, the Chargers scored to Joshua Palmer in the back of the end zone to make it 27-24, but after failing to recover the ensuing onside kick the Chiefs killed the clock. Herbert completed 33 of his 48 passes for three touchdowns and an interception, whereas Mahomes went 24 of 35 for 245 yards and a pair of touchdowns. The interception ended up being the difference, but there were heartening signs. Williams looked like a legitimate No. 1 receiver, hauling in eight catches for 113 yards and making the absence of Keenan Allen more palatable. Mahomes lived up to his preseason promise to fantasy owners and spread the ball around for the second week in a row, hitting nine different receivers and targeting 10 over the course of the game. The leading receiver was Kelce at 51. It was a clean game overall, and the reality is in a clean game, one mistake can be the difference. That was the case for the Chargers Thursday.  The Sporting News tracked it all live. Chargers vs. Chiefs score   Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 F Chargers 3 7 7 7 24 Chiefs 0 7 7 13 27 Chargers vs. Chiefs updates, highlights from “Thursday Night Football” (All times Eastern) 11:14 p.m. — That’s ballgame. Chiefs hold on to win 27-24, as the Chargers lose a 10-point lead helped along by Jaylen Watson’s pick six. 11:12 p.m. — Although the Chiefs initially botched the inside kick, they fall on it and keep the ball. Kansas City should be able to kill the clock with just one timeout left for Los Angeles. 11:09 p.m. — On fourth down, instead of kicking the field goal and trying to make it a one-possession game, the Chargers go to the end zone for Joshua Palmer and score six on a nice look-off from Herbert. The Chargers keep it interesting. Chiefs 27, Chargers 24. Crazy sequence there, really, and at the two-minute warning the Chargers will come out with first down from the Chiefs 5-yard line. On third-and-1, Herbert’s shoulder fails him and he spikes a ball into the dirt when he could have run for the first. 11:03 p.m. — Matt Ammendola hits another field goal to make it Chiefs 27, Chargers 17. Herbert is throwing on the sideline, but as Herbstreit points out, he doesn’t look fluid. 11:02 p.m. — The Chargers have now used two timeouts as the Chiefs trot out the field goal unit with 3:24 left. Good job by the defense, but that big Edwards-Helaire run looms large. 10:58 p.m. — Clyde Edwards-Helaire kicks this drive off with a massive run and he’s going to get 15 more tacked onto the end of it for a facemask. Great job hitting the hole from him, and Derwin James got inside the facemask. 52-yard run, 67 yards after the penalty, and it’s the Chiefs from the Charger 18. 10:56 p.m. — After his return, Herbert misses badly on two straight throws. The second one should have been picked off, as he locked in on Mike Williams and threw into triple coverage. Chargers punt, and the Chiefs will start from their own 15 with 3:55 left. 10:56 p.m. — Herbert is back. 10:55 p.m. — Herbert leaves the field and Chase Daniel comes in for first-and-10, but it looks like Herbert will be coming back. 10:51 p.m. — The Chargers have a chance to redeem themselves on another third-and-2 here, and Herbert makes a great throw under pressure to Gerald Everett. Herbert, however, goes down and he’s injured. Extremely scary moment here for the Chargers. 10:49 p.m. — The Chargers defense has been very good tonight. Asante Samuel forces an incompletion on Valdes-Scantling downfield, and the Chiefs punt down to the Chargers 15. Herbert is going to get another chance here, but time is a factor. 10:44 p.m. — After the punt, the Chiefs will get the ball back with 8:15 yet. They’ll look to control the clock down the stretch. 10:41 p.m. — Some of these Chargers playcalls are confusing. They go three-and-out in answer to the pick six, and they hand it off on third-and-2. Ekeler gets stacked up for a loss, and the Chargers have to punt. 10:36 p.m. — What a swing! The first turnover of the game is critical, as Jaylen Watson undercuts a throw from Herbert to Everett and houses it from 99 yards out. Clutch play by the rookie to give the Chiefs their first lead of the game, and it couldn’t have come at a better time. Tremendous resilience from the Chiefs. Chiefs 24, Chargers 17. First Carter tight-ropes down the sideline for a first down, then Everett avoids getting submarined and fights for a few extra yards to make it second-and-3.  10:31 p.m. — The Chargers pick up a first down and clear the 50 in the process. That personal foul is looming awfully large right now, and the Chargers are looking to reclaim the lead. 10:29 p.m. — Brutal play by Cook on the kickoff, as he catches a personal foul to give the Chargers the ball at their own 40 to open this drive. Equivalent to kicking the ball out of bounds. 10:28 p.m. — It’s a testament to how this game is going, but the Chiefs bring in Ammendola ot kick the chip shot and tie the game up. Boring choice, but with the pace of this game, perhaps the right one. Chargers 17, Chiefs 17. 10:26 p.m. — Frankly, it’s weird this wasn’t a flag. You aren’t generally allowed to make wrestling moves on defense. Derwin James just went WWE on Travis Kelce. Mercy. pic.twitter.com/a0w8YZ6xB8 — Ari Meirov (@MySportsUpdate) September 16, 2022 10:24 p.m. — Mahomes put a one-read throw to the end zone on second down, but Asante Samuel jumps it and nearly picks it off. On third down, the Chiefs run a shovel pass and get down to the goal line to end the third quarter, and it’ll be fourth down on the other side. Big choice upcoming here for Reid and the Chiefs. 10:23 — ????. Mahomes completes a big pass to Kelce to get down to the Chargers 4-yard line, and Kelce gets body-slammed and the ball pops out. Kelce, of course, was down by contact, but that was brutal. 10:20 p.m. — After a first down incompletion, Asante Samuel Jr. forces third down by blowing up a swing pass. Chargers come out in a bunch set on third down, and Mahomes finds Hardman for a Chiefs first down. Good stick play by the Chiefs to convert. 10:18 p.m. — Skyy Moore takes a fair catch at the Chargers 35. Another golden opportunity for KC. 10:16 p.m. — Chiefs get pressure on the first two downs, and it’ll be third-and-10. Crowd noise is becoming a real factor now. On third down they get to him, as Chris Jones sacks Herbert, and the Chargers will punt from the shadow of their own goalpost. Huge possession for the Chiefs defense. 10:14 p.m. — Well, so much for that. The Chargers force a three-and-out in quick succession. The Chargers have dialed up some really well-timed blitzes tonight, and it’s left Mahomes frazzled at times. Chargers will get the ball at their own 9-yard line after the punt. 10:10 p.m. — Big turnaround here in this game, as now the Chargers go three-and-out and will punt it away to the Chiefs. Chiefs will look to take their first lead of the game, and they’ll start from their own 30. 10:05 p.m. — What an unbelievable third down play from the Chiefs. JC Jackson gets beat on an out-and-up from Justin Watson and gets in from 41 yards out. This Chiefs offense really needed that,...

Terra Luna Classic Crypto Price Prediction – LUNC Recovery To $0.0003? – Cryptonews https://collincountynewsonline.com/terra-luna-classic-crypto-price-prediction-lunc-recovery-to-0-0003-cryptonews/ Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) is ravenously batting through a bullish-reversal pattern known as a falling wedge. Over the last 24 hours the bulls are gathering momentum once again and buyers are starting to move in to slow down the fall.  Will Terra Luna Classic repossess the $0.0003 price level?  Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) Price Prediction  At the time of writing this article Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) is trading at $0.000265 according to Coinmarketcap and now has a market capital of $1.63 billion.  Trading volume has slipped away slightly on the Binance exchange as the anticipated 1.2% supply burning mechanisms were not deployed and FUD surrounding Do Kwon led to a further decrease in price reducing investor appetite.  Despite the bearish news, Terra Luna Classic is trading within a rather bullish looking pattern.  LUNC/BUSD – 4 Hour Time Frame. As we can see LUNC is constantly getting rejected on the 20-day moving average, this type of recoil is preventing LUNC incepting in a new uptrend.  Residing within the falling wedge was a descending triangle which we can see Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) has now successfully broken through. The next hurdle is breaking through the resistance trendline of the falling wedge pattern at $0.000273. If this is achieved the next technical price target is $0.000335 which would result in a price increase of roughly 25.15% from current levels.  If Terra Luna Classic loses price structure within the falling wedge pattern there is a chance we might lose the support at $0.000254 which would make revisiting $0.000236 likely.  Major CEX Adopts Burning Mechanism Some good news despite the recent fall in price is that a major centralized exchange known as MEXC is adopting additional burn on top of their current 1.2% burn. Once more centralized exchanges also integrate the 1.2% burning mechanisms, we will see a greater amount of LUNC supply burnt. According to Terrarity 3,967,138,030 LUNC has been burned which is just 0.0574% of the total supply.  Terra Luna Classic Video Analysis Terra Luna Classic has been one of the fastest growing cryptocurrencies for 2022. I still think we could see strong upside potential from here. If LUNC can break out of the falling wedge pattern we could see strong bullish momentum to the upside. Remember, September is notorious for being an extremely bearish month so seeing a downtrend here and rejections at resistance is typically normal.  On the touch of fast growing cryptos, Tamadoge is a new exciting play-to-earn meme coin which is set to launch in Q4 2022 and could see exponential growth.

Perspective | U.S. Mexican Independence Festivities Remind Us Of The Cost Of Exclusion – The Washington Post https://collincountynewsonline.com/perspective-u-s-mexican-independence-festivities-remind-us-of-the-cost-of-exclusion-the-washington-post/ Sept. 16 marks the celebration of Mexico winning independence from the clutches of imperial Spain in the early 19th century. Over the years, its significance for the Mexican diaspora in the United States has increased, with celebrations now symbolizing ethnic pride in the U.S. cities and towns where people of Mexican descent have carved out spaces of dignity in the face of unwelcoming social forces. From borderlands to barrios, Mexican communities become lively, loud and boisterous as the eve of Independence Day approaches. People join in the celebratory cry known as “El Grito de Dolores,” echoing the insurrectionist call made by Father Miguel Hidalgo y Costilla in the town of Dolores Hidalgo on Sept. 16, 1810. The cry has become an enduring feature of celebrations in communities with a significant Mexican population. At times, the festive atmosphere of the Mexican diaspora gathering to celebrate Independence and other homeland holidays has been dampened by the threat of anti-Latino and anti-immigrant violence. For example, in 2017, Philadelphia Mayor Jim Kenney lamented the cancellation of a public Cinco de Mayo celebration that would have attracted thousands, for fear that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) would send agents. Days before, the Trump administration had announced it was gearing up for a multi-city, large-scale raid of “sanctuary cities” in what ICE called “Operation Safe City.” The threat was chilling, forcing Mexican communities to weigh the joy and connection of celebrating communal heritage against the threat of dissolution and terror in the community. This was not the first time that U.S. government officials used the occasion of Mexican patriotic holiday celebrations to apprehend immigrants. One of the most significant episodes in which a homeland celebration was turned into a mass deportation took place on the eve of Mexican Independence Day in Chicago in 1954. On that day, as the city’s Mexican community prepared for celebration and a parade down a major thoroughfare, agents from the Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) prepared to deport Mexican nationals in parts of the city where they resided. On Sept. 16, the roundups in Chicago began, as part of a months-long federal mass deportation campaign called Operation Wetback. Earlier that year, Operation Wetback had deployed a similar military-style drive and campaign of fear to deport tens of thousands of immigrants from the country in cities such as Los Angeles and in communities across most of the Southwest. In the first three months of the operation, 93,913 Mexican nationals were arrested and presumably deported to Mexico. It is unsurprising that Operation Wetback began in the Southwest. Large parts of the U.S. Southwest had been home to Mexican-descended peoples long before the U.S.-Mexican War of 1846-1848. The U.S. conquest and annexation of northern Mexico did not always confer equal treatment to Mexicans under U.S. law, and they quickly became foreigners in their own land. But Mexican-descended peoples settled elsewhere as well. In the first half of the 20th century, industrial capitalism, a revolution in the borderlands, two world wars, restrictions of other immigrants and a binational guest worker agreement known as the Bracero Program (1942-1964) all played a role in bringing new generations of Mexican immigrants into the United States for work and survival. In the process, these migrations created multigenerational, mixed-status Mexican communities composed of Mexican American U.S. citizens, alongside immigrants of both legal and unauthorized status — all building lives together from the West Coast to the Great Lakes region, and from the Rio Grande Valley to the Lehigh Valley. By 1954, Attorney General Herbert Brownell was committed to stamping out what he believed to be an “immigration crisis.” Because of national security concerns during the Cold War, leaders like Brownell feared that enemies would perceive the United States as vulnerable if the country could not control its borders and prevent what he called “an influx of illegal aliens.” By this, he meant Mexican immigrants, even citizens and those in the United States legally. After the Southwest campaign concluded, Brownell announced Chicago as his next target. He aimed to deport 25,000 to 40,000 undocumented Mexicans from the city. Mexicans began to make Chicago their home after 1910, fleeing the turmoil of the Mexican Revolution. Soon after, more Mexican immigrants headed to the Windy City to find work in the steel mills, meatpacking, railroad and manufacturing industries. By the 1940s, Mexican immigrants and Mexican Americans had transformed an old port-of-entry neighborhood known as the Near West Side into the largest concentration of Mexicans in the Midwest, numbering in the tens of thousands. They used grand ballrooms, theaters and thoroughfares to celebrate Mexican patriotic holidays. Chicago’s version of Operation Wetback was particularly ruthless for a few reasons, including the INS’s strategic decision to begin the campaign on a holiday. Sept. 16 was a day when the community would be out in public, not only to celebrate their homeland’s independence but to create community and pride in Chicago as Mexican Chicagoans. In addition, by targeting the street where the Mexican Independence Day parade took place, the INS dispossessed Mexican immigrant business owners of their storefronts and livelihoods. INS Commissioner Joseph Swing warned that the great danger of the “alien influx” was not near the U.S.-Mexico border but instead in Chicago. That belief led the Department of Justice and the INS to direct an enormous amount of personnel and resources to the Windy City’s mass expulsion raids. The INS even planned for what to do if it ran out of space to detain Mexicans in the Cook County Jail. They contracted an old Studebaker car-manufacturing warehouse to temporarily incarcerate Mexican nationals, located conveniently close to Midway Airport, so they could more quickly deport Mexicans by plane. Those who lived through this episode recalled tenement doors being kicked in by federal agents, movie theaters being raided and INS agents placing churches under siege. One of the signature features of the federal operation was utilizing “a military mind,” as Swing called it, swiftly deporting immigrants through the use of military planes, boats and trains. Doing so allowed for deportations before any due process could take place in a court. Swing, a retired Army general, was committed to bolstering the image of the INS as “an aggressive, highly militarized law enforcement organization.” That included exploiting immigrant patriotic celebrations as a tactical strategy in the war against immigrants. In 1955, the INS reported that from September 1954 to June 1955, the agency had deported “11,459 aliens” through airlift, but that did not include those who had been deported by rail or bus. And while it seemed that the INS had not met its stated goal of deporting 25,000 to 40,000 undocumented immigrants from Chicago, the agency nevertheless claimed that “the border [had] been secured,” which in the agency’s view included the roundups of migrants in urban centers. Civil liberties groups such as the Midwest Committee for Protection of Foreign Born (MCPFB) and the American Civil Liberties Union attempted to mount a legal response to the mass deportations but felt paralyzed by the sheer number of arrests and the swiftness of the proceedings. Nathan Caldwell Jr., executive director of the MCPFB, admitted to a colleague in Los Angeles that “the attorneys here have had no previous experience before the Service [INS] or in the Courts around a drive of such mass character.” Chicago’s Mexican community was left devastated by the months-long raids of homes, businesses and workplaces, and it left a lasting feeling that their communities would continue to be persecuted by immigration authorities whenever the politicians found it to be convenient. Today, the memories of what took place on Mexican Independence Day in Chicago in 1954 have faded. And celebrations of Mexican holidays remain important features of Latino life in communities throughout the country. Public displays of ethnic pride and cultural celebration are important to people, even as they also prompt heightened alertness about anti-immigrant sentiment and policies that target and criminalize immigrants. In the face of policies that have abused and terrorized immigrant communities, such patriotic festivities remain a space for mutual aid and visibility — and an opportunity to challenge exclusion in the United States.

To help the area recover, the SBA granted access to its Home Disaster Loans, Business Physical Disaster Loans and Economic Injury Disaster Loan programs to those whose properties suffered damage in Dallas, Collin, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Rockwall and Tarrant counties. The long-term, low-interest loans will help Texans cope with economic injury and physical damage to homes and businesses, state officials said. Residents can apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information and download applications at www.disasterloanassistance.sba.gov. Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800- 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance.  “This disaster declaration ensures Texans impacted by last month’s flooding are able to receive the support and assistance needed to recover and move forward,” Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement. Preliminary damage assessments found that at least 47 homes and businesses in Dallas County sustained major damage and suffered an uninsured loss of more than 40%. The total major damage is estimated to be $1.97 million, while additional minor damage of six other structures is estimated to be $295,000, documents said.

As Prices Climb, Americans Cut Spending And Dip Into Savings To Make Ends Meet – Capital Public Radio News https://collincountynewsonline.com/as-prices-climb-americans-cut-spending-and-dip-into-savings-to-make-ends-meet-capital-public-radio-news/ Susan Morrison knew something was wrong when she bought a new tub of cottage cheese. “I had an old one in the refrigerator,” Morrison recalls. “I went to put the new one in and it was like, ‘Wait a minute. This is two-thirds of the size. There’s a third missing.'” Many people feel as though something is missing in the U.S. economy, finding they’re paying more and getting less. Despite a strong job market and near record-low unemployment, 37 % of Americans say their personal finances have gotten worse in the last year, according to a new NPR/PBS Newshour/Marist poll. That’s an 8-point jump since February. Twice as many people now say their economic situation has worsened as say it has improved. Most blame the worst inflation the United States has seen in four decades. Consumer prices across the board rose 8.3% in August from a year earlier, according to government data released this week. Price increases in some areas were even steeper. Thanks inflation: almost everyone says they’re cutting back and staying in For Morrison, who lives in Thousand Oaks, Calif., the curdling of confidence goes beyond cottage cheese. She and her husband are both retired. They’ve watched a falling stock market erode their savings, while prices at the supermarket have jumped more than 13% in the last 12 months. “We’re seniors. It’s not like we’re eating huge meals,” Morrison says. “But we have noticed that our grocery bill over just the last two years, we’ve watched it go up and up and up.” Nearly three out of four people surveyed say they’ve cut back on spending in the last six months in response to economic conditions. More than a quarter say they’d had to rely on savings in order to make ends meet. Morrison used to volunteer weekly with at a senior center in Simi Valley, but now goes only every other week to save on gasoline. She and her husband have also cut back on travel. “We love to vacation in our motor home,” Morrison says. “But we have not gone anywhere in our motor home at all this year because of the cost of diesel.” Both diesel and gasoline prices have dropped sharply, since hitting record highs in June. But fuel remains significantly more expensive than it was a year ago. The average price of diesel is still nearly $5 a gallon. As with many issues, people’s attitudes about the economy are shaped in part by partisan politics. Republicans, like Morrison, are almost four times as likely as Democrats to say their financial situation has worsened in the last year, just as Democrats were more likely to grumble when President Trump was in office. Even among Democrats, though, attitudes have deteriorated somewhat. Fifteen percent of Democrats now say their family finances have worsened in the last year — up from 12% who said so in February. One of the biggest complaints is high inflation. “I mean, when you try to buy a steak, for Chrissakes,” says Craig Barnes, an energy broker in Plano, Texas. “It has a big impact, especially in my business. When I’m taking people out and stuff like that, we’re not going to steakhouses any more. We’re dialing it back big time.” More than half the people surveyed say they’re eating out less now than they were six months ago. Four in ten say they’re driving less or carpooling in order to save on gas. Some of the reported spending cuts may be exaggerated. According to the Commerce Department, for example, actual spending at restaurants is up nearly 7% over the last six months. Lavender Justice, who works as a pizza delivery driver in suburban Atlanta, suffered a drop in income earlier this summer when gas prices soared. Although gas prices have since fallen, the delivery business hasn’t fully recovered. Fewer people are ordering pizza some nights. And even when it’s busy, tips are down. “People are struggling. It’s kind of tragic,” Justice says. “Even on Fridays and Saturdays, I’ve been making only 75% of what I was a year ago.” As a result, Justice has scaled back spending on favorite hobbies, such as costumed camping trips. “A lot of my friends are either having to cut down on activities that they enjoy, ” Justice says, or “pick up more hours, [or] figure out second jobs.” Skipping doctor visits and other signs of economic distress Just over a third of those surveyed say they canceled or scaled back vacations over the last six months, while 18% say they skipped a doctor’s visit or a purchase of prescription drugs. In general, families making less than $50,000 a year were more likely to say they’d cut spending than those with higher incomes. Missing a rent or mortgage payment can be a sign of more serious economic distress. Less than 10% of those surveyed said they’d skipped or delayed such a payment in the last six months. But missed housing payments were more than twice as common among families making less than $25,000 a year. “I had to be late on rent this month, and probably going to have to figure something out for this coming payment as well,” says Connor Slaten, who works at a KFC in Kansas City, Mo. Slaten was recently promoted to shift manager, and his wages climbed to $14 an hour. Still, he says, that’s not keeping pace with the rising cost of living. “I don’t think there’s anywhere in America where $14 an hour can adequately pay for a one-bedroom apartment and everything else that you need,” he says. Some of those surveyed are pessimistic that economic fortunes will improve any time soon. Others have their sights set on a political change in Washington. And some are banking on growing sense of empowerment among workers. “There’s more people quitting jobs that aren’t treating them well,” says Justice, the pizza delivery driver. “That gives me a lot of hope. Because if enough people quit jobs that aren’t treating them well, they’ll have to start treating people better and have to start paying people what they’re worth.” Justice hopes to start a new job — working with a wilderness therapy program — this fall. VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS SEPTEMBER 16 VietNamNet
VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS SEPTEMBER 16 VietNamNet
VIETNAM BUSINESS NEWS SEPTEMBER 16 – VietNamNet https://collincountynewsonline.com/vietnam-business-news-september-16-vietnamnet/ The Ministry of Finance has just announced the balance of the petrol price stabilization fund by the end of the second quarter of the year to implement the principle of publicity and transparency in the administration of petrol and oil prices following Decree No.83 and Decree No.95 of the Government. According to the Ministry of Finance, from April 1, 2022 to June 30, 2022, VND1,007.807 billion (US$43 million) remained in the petrol price stabilization fund. However, the total amount of spending to stabilize fuel prices during this period was set at VND526.726 billion (US$22.3 million). Besides, the interest arising on the positive balance fund in the second quarter gained VND1.426 billion (US$60.2) and the loan interest arising on the negative balance fund in the second quarter exceeded VND1.792 million (US$76). Therefore, by June 30, only VND310.794 billion (US$13 million) remained in the fund. On March 31, the fund balance was minus VND169.920 billion (US$7.2 million). According to the database of the inter-Ministry of Industry and Trade – Finance on gasoline price adjustment at the previous times, fuel price was mostly required to be set on the petrol price stabilization fund. However, in the reality, it was not spent as required. At the operating session on September 12, the inter-Ministry of Industry and Trade – Finance required enterprises to take VND451, VND450, VND90, VND200 and VND741 from the petroleum price stabilization fund for the subsidy of an E5 RON 92 liter, a RON 95 gasoline liter, a liter of diesel, a liter of kerosene and a liter of mazut respectively while not spending the fund for stabilizing fuel price. Binh Dinh wants to relocate over 1,200 fishing boats for tourism purposes The central province of Binh Dinh is set to relocate all fishing boats anchoring or operating in the Quy Nhon City waters to the De Gi Lagoon in Phu Cat District to develop tourism. The provincial People’s Committee yesterday, September 14, chaired a meeting to collect feedback from relevant agencies on the relocation plan. According to data from the provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, more than 1,200 fishing boats are subject to the relocation, Dan Tri newspaper reported. The central province looks to complete the relocation by 2025. After 2025, it will relocate the Quy Nhon fishing port to the My Thanh fishing port in Phu My District and move all fishing boats anchoring at other places in the Quy Nhon waters to the De Gi Lagoon. However, the local authorities are dealing with a major problem. Most local residents are not supportive of the relocation. According to Nguyen Phuong Nam, vice chairman of the Quy Nhon City People’s Committee, up to 93% of the 871 boat owners said no to the relocation request, as it would be difficult for them to seek business partners if they anchor their boats at a new site far from the current area. The boat owners said nearly 800 boats are small-sized and less than 12 meters in length each and are used for only one- or two-day fishing trips. Therefore, the relocation would make their operations tougher. Speaking at the meeting, a Department of Agriculture and Rural Development representative said this is a complicated issue, so the province should prioritize relocating boats from some hotspots first. The representative suggested moving 124 fishing boats from the Quy Nhon fishing port and 196 others from the Phan Chu Trinh boat lock before considering the next move. VND3.2t bridge to be built in Mekong Delta A new bridge over the Co Chien River will be built to connect Ben Tre and Vinh Long provinces in the Mekong Delta, at an estimated cost of over VND3.2 trillion. The authorities of the two provinces yesterday, September 14, finalized a plan to develop the Dinh Khao Bridge project after taking into account feedback from consultants, the local media reported. With a total length of over 11 kilometers, the bridge will start from the National Highway 53 section passing through Vinh Long’s Long Ho District and end at the National Highway 57 section in Ben Tre. The four-lane bridge will also be some 6.6 kilometers downstream of the Dinh Khao ferry terminal. Some 50% of the project’s investment will be backed by the State budget, while the remainder will come from the private sector and reciprocal capital of the two provinces. Work on the project is expected to begin this year and be completed in 2026. Vinh Long and Ben Tre, in coordination with the consulting units, will proceed with further investment steps to report them to the higher authorities. Co Chien River, which is over 80 kilometers long, is a tributary of the Tien River and links the provinces of Vinh Long, Ben Tre and Tra Vinh in the delta. The Dinh Khao Bridge project, once completed, will shorten the time needed to travel between Ben Tre and Vinh Long, as well as help ease traffic congestion in the area. Workshop seeks measures for eco-industrial park development in Vietnam A workshop was held in Ho Chi Minh City on September 15, discussing policies for and measures to develop eco-industrial parks in Vietnam. The event was co-organised by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI), the United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (UNIDO), and the Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO). As heard at the workshop, between 2015 and 2019, the MPI, UNIDO, SECO, and other sponsors worked together to pilot models of eco-industrial parks in Ninh Binh, Da Nang and Can Tho. As a result, over 70 businesses have implemented more than 900 energy saving and cleaner production solutions, saving 76 billion VND (3.21 million USD) and cutting 32 kilotons of CO2 annually. In the 2020-2023 period, the Swiss Government is continuing to help three industrial parks in Ho Chi Minh City, Hai Phong and Dong Nai convert into eco-industrial parks in accordance to an international framework. This will serve as a premise to multiply the model across the country. Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc said that the eco-industrial park model can play a positive role in the national sustainable development strategy only when it is multiplied nationwide and is supported in terms of policy, technology, finance, information and a close connection mechanism between domestic agencies and international organisations. She highlighted the need for more guidelines on technical regulations and standards by ministries and sectors as well as technical guidance from domestic and international experts, especially for industrial symbiosis networks and circular economy solutions. It is also necessary to issue preferential policies on finance for eco-industrial parks, Ngoc added. Vice Chairman of the HCM City People’s Committee Vo Van Hoan said the southern economic hub is committed to working closely with the MPI and UNIDO in implementing a project on the implementation of eco-industrial parks in Vietnam according to the approach from the Global Eco-Industrial Park Programme. The over 1.8 million USD project aims to improve the economic, environmental and social efficiency of the industry and include regulations on eco-industrial park development in relevant mechanisms and policies. Swiss Consul General Werner Bardill in HCM City hoped that more and more industrial parks in Vietnam will participate in the transformation process to achieve sustainable growth and improve their competitiveness in the time to come. Vietnam Airlines, China Southern Airlines seal comprehensive cooperation deal Vietnam Airlines and China Southern Airlines have signed an agreement on comprehensive cooperation in all areas, including commerce, services, and techniques to improve flight experience of and bring outstanding value to their passengers. Under the pact, which took effect in September, the carriers agreed to give priority to each other’s products and services and team up to develop their base airports into major air transport hubs in the region. Han Wensheng, President and CEO of China Southern Airlines, stated the comprehensive cooperation will promote exchanges between China and countries in Southeast Asia and in the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP), and bring more expansive options and superior travel experiences to global passengers. Echoing the view, Vietnam Airlines CEO Le Hong Ha said the ties will add more benefits to passengers and contribute to strengthening Vietnam-China economic, cultural, and social relations. On September 14, the two sides held their first meeting to concretise the contents agreed in the deal. Huge potential for Vietnam-Indonesia trade, investment: workshop There remains room to advance trade and investment cooperation between Vietnam and Indonesia, with the latter being a potential export market of the former in the ASEAN region, according to speakers at a workshop held in Ho Chi Minh City on September 15. Co-organised by the municipal Investment and Trade Promotion Center (ITPC) and the Indonesian Consulate General, the event aimed to promote trade between the nations. Tran Phu Lu, deputy head of the ITPC, said the countries’ collaboration is growing strongly and recommended the sides develop an action programme to implement their strategic partnership for 2024-2028 with the aim to push bilateral trade to 15 billion USD by 2028. In 2021, Indonesia was Vietnam’s 12th largest trading partner. Bilateral trade turnover hit 11.4 billion USD, up 40% year-on-year and exceeding the 10 billion USD goal set by the two in their action program for conducting their strategic partnership for 2019-2023. The figure stood at 8.073 billion USD in the first seven months of 2022, an annual increase of 23%. Indonesian Consul General Agustaviano Sofjan affirmed trade is a strong point that Indonesia wishes to coop...

Here Is The Latest SEC Sports News From The Associated Press – Fort Bend Herald https://collincountynewsonline.com/here-is-the-latest-sec-sports-news-from-the-associated-press-fort-bend-herald-2/ UNDATED (AP) — New No. 1 team Georgia opens Southeastern Conference play against South Carolina. Quarterback Stetson Bennett and the defending national champions have been dominant so far. They’ve outscored Oregon and Samford by a combined 82-3. The Gamecocks are led by Oklahoma transfer Spencer Rattler. They’re coming off a loss to No. 10 Arkansas. South Carolina’s challenge got even bigger with the season-ending ACL injuries to linebackers Jordan Strachan and Mo Kaba. In another big SEC game, 24th-ranked Texas A&M tries to rebound against No. 13 Miami. COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) — South Carolina coach Shane Beamer is focused on the field, not on Georgia’s No. 1 ranking. He might be the only one heading into Saturday’s game. Beamer told his staff no “shock the worlds” or other rah-rah platitudes around the team this week. Then his family sent him several texts saying just that. Beamer said his players are confident and should be. They play in the Southeastern Conference and have talented SEC players, too. Georgia comes in as defending national champs and with an impressive 49-3 victory in the opener over then-No. 11 Oregon. COLLEGE STATION, Texas (AP) — This was supposed to be the year Texas A&M finally took the next step and contended with Alabama for the SEC title. Instead, last week’s 17-14 upset against scrappy Appalachian State sent the Aggies tumbling from No. 6 to No. 24 in The AP Top 25 and took some luster off Saturday night’s matchup against 13th-ranked Miami. Now the Aggies are looking for ways to move on from that stunning loss and salvage a season that started with so much promise. UNDATED (AP) — Nick Saban doesn’t have to give his players a history lesson. The Alabama coach need only point to last weekend’s Sun Belt Conference stunners ahead of Saturday’s game against Louisiana-Monroe, incidentally the architect of the most humbling loss of his tenure in Tuscaloosa. His current players weren’t out of elementary school at the time in 2007. The second-ranked Crimson Tide  tumbled from the top spot after barely surviving against Texas. It comes on the heels of a huge week for ULM’s Sun Belt Conference brethren, who pulled off upsets of Texas A&M, Notre Dame and Nebraska. FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) — Bobby Petrino returns to Arkansas as head coach at rising FCS program Missouri State. He left the Razorbacks after a scandal in 2012. His Bears won’t be afraid. Last year, they took Oklahoma State down to the wire in Stillwater before losing 23-16. No. 10 Arkansas has opened the season with wins against Cincinnati and South Carolina. A victory over Missouri State would put the Hogs at 3-0 for the second-straight year entering their rivalry game against No. 24 Texas A&M in Arlington, Texas. ATLANTA (AP) — Three weeks into the season, No. 20 Ole Miss is still sorting things out at quarterback. Maybe Saturday’s game at Georgia Tech will provide some clarity. Luke Altmyer started last week against Central Arkansas but went down with an upper-body injury. He appears fully recovered and should be able to go against the Yellow Jackets. Ole Miss also has Southern Cal transfer Jaxson Dart, who started the season-opening victory over Troy but opened the door for Altmyer with a lackluster performance. Coach Lane Kiffin isn’t saying who’ll take the first snap in Atlanta. Both QBs are likely to play. GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Anthony Richardson could use a confidence boost. The Florida quarterback was admittedly shaken during his two-turnover performance against Kentucky last week that included more than a dozen errant throws. He completed 14 of 35 passes for 143 yards in the 26-16 loss, and he ran for just 4 yards. Both of his interceptions led to touchdowns for the Wildcats. Richardson gets a chance to redeem himself when the 18th-ranked Gators host South Florida on Saturday night. It’s a seemingly well-timed matchup for Richardson, a third-year sophomore who looked unstoppable against the Bulls a year ago. Copyright 2022 The Associated Press. All rights reserved. Major Automakers Drive Into The Metaverse To Engage With Digital Car Buyers – Http://cbtnews.com/ https://collincountynewsonline.com/major-automakers-drive-into-the-metaverse-to-engage-with-digital-car-buyers-http-cbtnews-com/ The combination of virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR), known as the metaverse, has historically been just a figment of our imagination. However, the development of the metaverse is now advancing quickly and many industries – not just software/technology – are working to dive into it. This includes the automotive industry, which is looking to utilize the metaverse to engage with customers and collaborate with suppliers in a more immersive and efficient manner.  MarketsandMarkets has released a new report indicating that the automotive metaverse market is “projected to grow from USD 1.9 billion in 2022 to USD 16.5 billion by 2030.” The growth could reportedly be due to various factors including the widening use of VR in showrooms, VR and AR technology being built into vehicles, and the increasing usage of non-fungible tokens (NFTs) and cryptocurrencies.  VR is already heavily used for existing digital showrooms, whereas AR is often utilized in vehicle advertising, manufacturing, inspection, and maintenance. Companies that are providing their metaverse expertise to the auto industry include gaming platform Roblox Corporation, software giant NVIDIA, and Meta Platforms Inc. (formerly known as Facebook). Various automakers have also started to tap into the technology, including those outlined below.  Nissan Nissan Sakura electric minivehicle In May, Nissan debuted its Nissan Sakura electric minivehicle both at the automaker’s Global Headquarters as well as in the metaverse at the Nissan Sakura Driving Island. The metaverse version features avatars, light and sound effects, and the ability to “walk” around and customize the vehicle. In late 2021, the automaker also unveiled its Nissan Crossing VR experience, which featured its new electric Ariya crossover and is based upon the automaker’s impressive showroom in Japan. Nissan has also said its  “Invisible-to-Visible” (I2V) technology will likely be unveiled around 2025 and the technology will “create limitless possibilities for services and communications that will make driving more convenient, comfortable, and exciting.” Toyota Toyota took a slightly different approach to the metaverse, first focusing on integrating a virtual workspace worldwide. The technology allows employees to act through avatars and attend meetings with one another in a virtual world, and in early 2022 Toyota Turkey was able to hold a large annual meeting in the metaverse. It is expected Toyota will continue to expand on the virtual workplace experience but will also venture out into other metaverse abilities for its future lineup.  Ferrari Luxury vehicle maker Ferrari has suggested it has plans to delve deeply into Blockchain and NFTs through its partnership with Switzerland-based Velas Network AG. The plan is for Velas Network AG to create advanced digital content for the automaker that will be unlike anything consumers’ have ever seen. While specifics have not quite been released, Ferrari’s website already features advanced graphics, so it is expected any developments will feature top-notch technology.  Ford Ford is the latest automaker to express interest in the metaverse, as it recently filed 19 trademark applications related to the technology that includes NFTs and other VR/AR technologies for various vehicles including its electric F-150 lightning truck and the Mustang. The applications mention downloadable media such as text and video, NFTs, and other offerings like “downloadable virtual goods,” which include parts and accessories.  Audi Audi has said its partnership with holoride GmbH is focused on “turning vehicles into moving theme parks.” Audi reports the technology will be able to “blend what [consumers] see on the actual journey with augmented reality elements via motion-synchronization technology.” This includes traveling through different nature scenarios or even joining a VR work meeting in a car. Starting this Fall, various Audi models will be equipped with holoride integration capabilities.  Mercedes Benz Luxury brand Mercedes Benz is one of the five founders and currently the only automotive member of the Aura Blockchain Consortium, which “promotes the use of a single global blockchain solution open to all luxury brands worldwide to provide consumers with additional transparency and traceability.” The automaker also released its new G-Class line of vehicles in the Metaverse and has established a partnership with global cryptocurrency exchange FTX.  Lamborghini Lamborghini started its own NFT project, which it named “Space Time Memory.” The project consists of five images that include a Lamborghini Ultimae venturing off into outer space, which is a nod to the automaker’s involvement in space exploration. The automaker is also allowing website visitors to register for its “Epic Road Trip” virtually, which is an interactive, game-like experience in which winners will get to unveil a rare Lamborghini model at the end.  Final thoughts on the metaverse Of course, dealers will have to stay up to date on the latest developments in the metaverse, as they will undoubtedly affect the process of car sales. Meta (previously Facebook) has already hinted that it has plans to create a platform in the metaverse that allows dealers to “purchase virtual dealerships” and set up virtual showrooms with their available vehicles.  Many consumers are currently hesitant to purchase a vehicle without seeing and touching it in person, but the metaverse may allow them to do so, therefore presenting the possibility that car sales could be fully remote someday soon. In fact, in March, Germain Toyota of Naples, Florida conducted the first auto transaction in the metaverse, which set an example for what car sales might look like in the future.  Lastly, advertising is a huge component of auto retail, so in time more dealers may have the ability to promote their businesses all across the metaverse, even to metaverse users who are not specifically looking to buy a car. For example, a metaverse user playing some form of racing game may eventually start to see ads for dealerships and automakers on the sides of the racetracks. Did you enjoy this article? Alex Jones Accused Of Channelling Infowars Bitcoin Donations Into His Own Accounts – Cryptonews https://collincountynewsonline.com/alex-jones-accused-of-channelling-infowars-bitcoin-donations-into-his-own-accounts-cryptonews/ Image Credit: AliExpress U.S. radio show host and conspiracy theorist Alex Jones has transferred donations made in bitcoin (BTC) and other cryptocurrencies to his flagship media outlet Infowars to his own pocket, according to a corporate representative for his business. Brittany Paz, an attorney who serves as a representative for Free Speech Systems, the company that runs Infowars, testified in a Connecticut civil defamation trial against Jones. The trial was initiated by the parents of the victims of the 2012 Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting. Jones and his media outlet have called the tragedy “a hoax” orchestrated by the American government.  The solicited crypto donations go “directly to Alex Jones personally,” Paz said of the crypto donations solicited during the show, as reported by The Independent. “He doesn’t tell anybody where it goes or what he does with it”. The attorney says that, since 2012, “there has been an increase in viewership” of Jones’s show which is also broadcast online. Last month, in a similar trial held in Texas, Jones was ordered to pay some $49.3m in punitive and compensatory damages for his fake hoax claim to the parents of a child killed in the shooting. To protect itself and its owner from financial losses, Free Speech Systems filed for bankruptcy protections in the first week of the first trial. An economist hired by the Texas parents who sued Jones testified that the company’s owner, his media brand and parent company are worth up to $270m, according to data obtained by British broadcaster BBC. The Infowars website encourages the conspiracy theorist’s followers to “sponsor” the media brand “with bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies”.

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 16, 2022) — Tomorrow is Constitution Day — the American federal observance that recognizes the adoption of the United States Constitution and those who have become U.S. citizens. It is observed on Sept. 17, the day in 1787 that delegates to the Constitutional Convention signed the document in Philadelphia. The University of Kentucky J. David Rosenberg College of Law has been celebrating Constitution Day with a series of events this week, and the college will host a public reading of the entirety of the Constitution beginning noon today (Friday), Sept. 16. The reading will take place in the Stites & Harbison PLLC Commons, located on the second floor of the law building. UK Rosenberg Law faculty and staff will take turns reading. On Tuesday, Joshua Douglas, the Ashland, Inc.- Spears Distinguished Research Professor of Law, spoke to students about voting rights laws in an event co-hosted by the Law Library and UK Student Government Association. Douglas gave an overview of the Voting Rights Act and took questions related to voter identification laws and the electoral college. Second-year law student Bailey Pierce moderated the event. Participants received a pocket copy of the U.S. Constitution at the event. On Thursday, Jonathan Shaub, UK assistant professor of law, also spoke to students on the amendment process and the status of the Equal Rights Amendment. Additionally, students have been taking part in Constitution trivia in the law library throughout the week. Learn more about Constitution Day at www.archives.gov/news/topics/constitution-day. The University of Kentucky is increasingly the first choice for students, faculty and staff to pursue their passions and their professional goals. UK has been judged a “Great College to Work for” three years in a row, and UK is among only 22 universities in the country on Forbes’ list of “America’s Best Employers.”  We are ranked among the top 10 percent of public institutions for research expenditures — a tangible symbol of our breadth and depth as a university focused on discovery that changes lives and communities. And our patients know and appreciate the fact that UK HealthCare has been named the state’s top hospital for five straight years. Accolades and honors are great. But they are more important for what they represent: the idea that creating a community of belonging and commitment to excellence is how we honor our mission to be not simply the University of Kentucky, but the University for Kentucky.

US Rep. Pete Sessions Pressured Texas Secretary Of State To Investigate Dallas Elections Finger Lakes Times
US Rep. Pete Sessions Pressured Texas Secretary Of State To Investigate Dallas Elections – Finger Lakes Times https://collincountynewsonline.com/us-rep-pete-sessions-pressured-texas-secretary-of-state-to-investigate-dallas-elections-finger-lakes-times/ AUSTIN, Texas — Former Dallas Congressman Pete Sessions pressured the Texas secretary of state and attorney general’s offices to investigate Dallas County over the 2020 election, according to documents obtained by The Dallas Morning News. Letters and emails show the Waco Republican, who now represents the 17th District, engaged in an extensive back and forth with Secretary of State John Scott’s office for several months this year, seeking to elevate the concerns of a Dallas open records advocacy group and form an organized investigation involving the three offices. The Open Records Project obtained data it said indicated thousands of voters were removed from the rolls during early voting in 2020. Dallas County Elections Administrator Michael Scarpello said he could not explain the removals, and the secretary of state’s office characterized them as regular maintenance. Sessions has repeatedly questioned Dallas County elections results, particularly races he lost in 1994 and to Dallas Congressman Colin Allred four years ago. He said he remains committed to an investigation of the county separate from the ongoing audit Gov. Greg Abbott ordered last year, illustrating the fervor of some Republicans to root out voter fraud in the wake of the 2020 election. “We will stay after this,” Sessions said in a telephone interview last week. “It is important for the American people to know that this is a circumstance that can diminish both law and democracy.” Sessions’ effort stems from the work of the Open Records Project, a volunteer group of advocates led by Russell Fish, a self-described libertarian and computer architect who says he has never voted for Sessions. Fish said he and his team of “volunteer geeks” found that during each day of early voting during the 2020 election in Dallas County, it appeared that some voters’ names disappeared and then reappeared at a later date. In total, according to Fish, 56,974 voters were removed without explanation and 50,529 were added. Of the voters removed, 90% mailed their ballots and 92% were seniors. Of those, 88% were added back to the rolls, according to his findings. “Voters had votes that were either created by a computer or were removed in the computer after they had voted,” Fish said. Sessions and Fish said they have repeatedly contacted the Dallas County elections office, with no response, and Fish made presentations to Dallas County Commissioners about the anomalies in 2021. Scarpello, the elections administrator, said in an interview he did recall Sessions reaching out to his office, but never responded. Sessions reached out to Dallas County Judge Clay Jenkins in official letters on several occasions, but Jenkins said he didn’t respond either. Sessions held a May 23 news conference in Dallas to draw attention to “abnormalities, inconsistencies and irregularities” with the county’s 2020 election, adding that he had reached out to numerous agencies, including the FBI and the Texas attorney general’s office. Jenkins and Scarpello said they expect the secretary of state’s office to address any abnormalities in an audit of the 2020 election in Dallas County, as well as Collin, Tarrant and Harris counties, that’s expected to be completed later this year. Trump requested that Abbott order the investigation, which started nearly a year ago. “I believe that during the Secretary of State’s Forensic Audit, the Audit Division has investigated these discrepancies and are in a much better position to explain them than I am as I was not the Elections Administrator in the 2020 Presidential Election,” Scarpello said in an email. Dallas County hired Scarpello in December 2020. Former Dallas County elections administrator Toni Pippins-Poole, who oversaw the 2020 election, did not return a message seeking comment. Scarpello is being scrutinized over his handling of elections that have seen long lines and late openings of polling places. He is being closely watched by county and city officials, some of whom have called for him to be fired, but none of the concerns have been related to data anomalies. Fish presented the data his group found during an April 2021 meeting of the House Elections Committee. The head of the secretary of state’s elections division, Keith Ingram, then testified that any discrepancies did not affect the tabulation of votes cast in the election. “It has nothing to do with votes cast,” he said, attributing them to human errors that never affected the vote count but might have incorrectly indicated who had voted. But 10 months later, Sessions resurrected Fish’s suspicions in a Feb. 1 phone call with the newly appointed secretary of state, Scott, who was associated with a Trump-led attempt to challenge election results in Pennsylvania. Over the next four months, Sessions and legislative assistant Garrett Cocetti repeatedly contacted officials in the secretary of state and attorney general’s offices, according to documents. In a March 30 letter to Scott and First Assistant Attorney General Brent Webster, Sessions described his office and theirs as teams working together to develop a “short-term plan” to investigate the 2020 election. Attorney General Ken Paxton’s office, as well as Scott; his office’s general counsel, Adam Bitter; and the head of the Forensic Audit Division, Chad Ennis; did not respond to phone calls and emails requesting interviews, but spokesman Sam Taylor issued a written statement. “Our Forensic Audit Division welcomes evidence and information that may be useful in determining the reasons for any irregularities observed in the elections being audited, including the November 2020 General Election in Dallas County,” he said in an email. The communications from Sessions’ office also showed that the congressman’s suspicions with the Dallas County elections office extend beyond the 2020 election. In a March 31 email to Ennis, Cocetti sent presentation slides indicating Sessions asked the attorney general’s office in 2019 to investigate Dallas County’s 2018 election, when he lost the seat he had held for 22 years by 6 percentage points to Allred. The presentation included information credited to Austin-area conspiracy theorist Laura Pressley, who has been tied to a recent rash of resignations at an elections office in Gillespie County, according to reporting from Votebeat. Sessions also continues to believe the Dallas County Elections Department may have robbed him of victory in a 1994 congressional race. In 2012, the congressman said an elections office received 7,000 potentially improper ballots, but officials had no recollection of the incident, and Democrats said he was making it up. On Jan. 6, Sessions voted against certifying presidential election results in Pennsylvania and Arizona. When asked if he believed Trump won the 2020 election, he called the question “unfair.” “We need to first clear abnormalities, inconsistencies and irregularities because they are not being addressed at places all around the country, notwithstanding Dallas County,” Sessions said in an interview. “It’s not about Trump. It’s about a whole bunch of other people that were on the ballot. I think that it’s unfair for reporters to go to that issue.” SMU political scientist Cal Jillson said that while Sessions came into politics as a pro-business Republican of the George W. Bush era in Texas, his focus on so-called election irregularities was “not surprising” given the Republican party’s lingering suspicions of the 2020 election. But Sessions is no die-hard MAGA Republican, Jillson said. The last communication released to The News between Sessions’ office and the secretary of state’s office indicates that the relationship began to cool. After Ennis’ assistant told Sessions’ staff that the so-called irregularities the Open Records Project flagged appeared to be regular maintenance of voter rolls, Cocetti emailed Ennis on May 11, asking that the division chief be his sole contact. “I would like to work with you directly on this, your schedule permitting of course,” he wrote. “In April Secretary Scott said to me that you were the person to talk about this issue.” Both Sessions and Fish appear to realize their efforts haven’t been well received in Austin. Fish complained about a lack of experts who could understand the data he has collected, while Sessions said he became “disillusioned” with how his complaints were handled. “We’re waiting for the midterms,” Fish said. “If the House changes, it means people can subpoena stuff. … There will be significant change and Rep. Sessions will probably be a part of that.” (Staff writer Hojun Choi contributed to this report.) _____

Well-Known Names Make Mid-Market 100 | South West Business News – Insider Media https://collincountynewsonline.com/well-known-names-make-mid-market-100-south-west-business-news-insider-media/ A specialty cheese supplier, one of the country’s largest manufacturers of mobility vehicles and a diagnostics device firm are among the South West companies ranked on the latest Mid-Market 100. Medium-sized businesses are vital to the region’s economy, with Insider’s comprehensive list – sponsored by PKF Francis Clark – profiling those which are excelling and innovating the middle markets. The methodology saw companies sitting between turnover of £20m and £50m ranked firstly by sales, and then by pre-tax profit. The two were then averaged to give the top 100. Law firm Ashfords tops of the list, above fellow legal business Foot Anstey and bed maker Vispring. Others in the top ten include Brothers Drinks and Newland Homes. Medical Wire & Equipment Co is at 20, with the Bath-based manufacturer of diagnostic and specimen collection devices posting significant sales and operating profit increases for the year to 30 June 2021. Mobility vehicle firm GM Coachwork Group was at 23, with the business benefitting from a major investment in a multimillion-pound manufacturing facility in Newton Abbot. This will allow the company to “increase production to meet growing customer demand and simultaneously offer shorter delivery times”. Also making the list at 91 is Norseland, with the Somerset cheese supplier bringing in sales of more than £48m for the 12 months to 31 December 2021. Philadelphia Voters Say Fetterman’s Health Won’t Impact Their Vote, Citing Biden’s Age And Health – Fox News https://collincountynewsonline.com/philadelphia-voters-say-fettermans-health-wont-impact-their-vote-citing-bidens-age-and-health-fox-news/ NEWYou can now listen to Fox News articles! PHILADELPHIA – Philadelphia voters shared whether they were concerned about Lt. Gov. John Letterman’s health if elected to the Senate and if it would impact their vote in the midterm elections, with some citing President Biden’s health as reassurance.  “He might not be healthy mentally, but he seems healthy,” Devon, from Philadelphia, said.  “Look at Joe Biden. He’s an older guy,” he continued. “You know he has his health problems, and he’s still able to run the country.” Lieutenant Governor of Pennsylvania and Democratic US Senate candidate John Fetterman on August 12, 2022 in Erie, Pennsylvania. – The event marked Fettermans first campaign rally since suffering a stroke caused by a blood clot on May 15, 2022.  (DUSTIN FRANZ/AFP via Getty Images) But Kevin, living in Philadelphia, said he’s concerned about Fetterman’s health and lack of campaign engagement.  MEDIA PUTS MORE EMPHASIS ON FETTERMAN’S HEALTH AS PENNSYLVANIA ELECTION HEATS UP “You can’t run for office telling people you’re okay if you’re not okay,” Kevin said. “If something shows up he should be providing some kind of documentation that he has a clean bill of health.”  Fetterman, serving as the 34th Lt. Gov of Pennsylvania, suffered a stroke in May, undergoing surgery on May 17 – the day Pennsylvania voters elected him as the Democratic candidate for Senate. Fetterman returned to the campaign trail in August and recently agreed to debate his opponent, Republican Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz, scheduled for Oct. 25.  “I have no issues with his health all, because I still think he’s able to do his job,” Betty, from Philadelphia, said. She said speech issues are expected after a stroke and mentioned Biden stammers in his speeches. DR. OZ DOUBLES DOWN IN PENNSYLVANIA SENATE FIGHT, SAYS FETTERMAN IS SCARED TO DEBATE OR LYING ABOUT HEALTH Betty, from Philadelphia, says John Fetterman has her vote in November midterm elections, despite health concerns.  (Megan Myers/Fox News Digital) Loreal, living in Philadelphia, said she has been less concerned about Fetterman’s health than Biden’s and older leaders. Joe Biden became the oldest president ever elected to office when he won in 2020, and will be 80 in November. Some Congressional leaders within the legislative branch are even older, including Senator Dianne Feinstein at 88, whose been reported to show signs of memory loss.  “We’ve had older people who’ve had other serious health concerns that have certainly been ones to be concerned about, but they’re doing just fine,” Loreal said. In the 2020 presidential election, Philadelphia, a strongly left-leaning city, was crucial to Joe Biden winning Pennsylvania. Yet Fetterman statewide only leads Oz, 52% to 47%, in the Pennsylvania Senate race, according to the latest CBS News poll. 2022 MIDTERM ELECTION NEWS AS REPUBLICANS AND DEMOCRATS RACE TO NOVEMBER Pennsylvania Senate Democratic nominee John Fetterman and Pennsylvania Senate GOP nominee Dr. Mehmet Oz will debate live on Oct. 25, 2022 ahead of the midterm elections.  (Mark Makela, Hannah Beier/Bloomberg via Getty Images) CLICK HERE TO GET THE FOX NEWS APP “It looks like he’s recovering,” Will, from Pennsylvania, said. “I’m gonna trust what he’s telling us.” “Even if it’s gonna take him a little bit of time while he’s in the senate to get it all the way back he’s by far the best option,” he said.  Megan Myers is an associate producer/writer for Fox News Digital Originals. Week 3 Power Rankings | News, Sports, Jobs – Williamsport Sun-Gazette https://collincountynewsonline.com/week-3-power-rankings-news-sports-jobs-williamsport-sun-gazette/ 1. Jersey Shore (3-0): Kicker Breck Miller has received some Division I interest which is remarkable, considering he did not start kicking until last season. The senior also never had any formal kicking training before coming on board and providing Jersey Shore a special teams weapon. Miller has 135 points in his two seasons and continues drilling his kickoffs and giving opponents long fields to navigate. 2. Loyalsock (3-0): Who would have ever thought a team could beat Southern one week and then face an even tougher opponent the following week during the regular season? Time will tell how things play out, but it sure feels like that is the case this week. Look up at the press box and around it tonight and one will see quite a media blowout, highlighting the excitement this game has generated. 3. Canton (3-0): Brothers Hayden, Hudson and Holden Ward are playing together this season and are making a big impact. They produced quite a collective performance last week with Hudson making 11 tackles, Hayden adding nine and Holden intercepting a pass. 4. Muncy (2-0): Muncy has had to wait a long time to play its first home game, but it should feel mighty comfortable there as the season progresses. Muncy plays five of its last seven games on its home field. Over the past two seasons, the Indians are 7-1 in their friendly confines. 5. Milton (3-0): Xzavier Minium earned all-state honors as an athlete last season and showed why in last week’s victory. The senior leader ran for a touchdown, caught a 62-yard scoring strike and then returned an interception 40 yards for a touchdown … all within a seven minute span in the second quarter. 6. Montoursville (2-1): There have been some interesting scheduling quirks in District 4 this season where some teams are playing each other for a third straight season on one team’s field. That is the case tonight, but Montoursville has made itself quite at home at Central Columbia the last two years, outscoring the Blue Jays, 80-3 there. 7. South Williamsport (2-1): Tonight provides another opportunity to build some valuable momentum. After tonight, South has five tough games remaining on its schedule. The stretch starts next week at Canton and features three games over the final five weeks against the other top teams in District 4 Class A: Muncy and Northwest. 8. Williamsport (1-2): With its long line of sensational running backs over the years, Williamsport easily could be labeled Running Back U. It’s ironic then that the program has not produced a 1,000-yard rusher since current Minnesota back Treyson Potts topped 2,000 in 2016. If he stays healthy, Nasir Hennigan has an excellent chance to end that drought. 9. Hughesville (1-2): The Spartans were so close to a big breakthrough last week. Nonetheless, they still have an excellent opportunity to produce a winning season. Hughesville is building something strong and the excitement is growing, especially with the defense continuing to shine. 10. Wellsboro (0-3): Wellsboro’s first three opponents all either won or played in district championships last year and are a combined 7-1. The road does not get much easier against Athens, but tonight is a chance to see how much Wellsboro has learned and/or benefited from that demanding early season schedule. 11. Lewisburg (0-3): Green Dragons have been so close in two defeats, losing by seven combined points. The tough part has been following up those heartbreakers by playing Jersey Shore and Southern Columbia. Still, the performance against Montoursville showed Lewisburg is making strides even if the record does not show it. 12. Central Mountain (0-3): Wildcats had their chances against Mifflin County and Shikellamy. It’s a matter of sustaining drives and cashing in when the opportunities present themselves, but there’s no doubt this team will keep working hard to improve. 13. Montgomery (1-2): Yes, Montgomery is a decided underdog but it has nothing to lose tonight and can play loose and free. No Red Raider team has won at Muncy during the 2000s, so what an opportunity this young group has. 14. Bucktail (1-1): Having only 18 players is not slowing this team down. The Bucks were a few key stops from improving to 2-0 last year. This is a young team as well, so the future is looking bright as Bucktail gains both confidence and experience. 15. North Penn-Mansfield (0-3): The last thing North Penn-Mansfield is going to do is make excuses … but it has been a tough road. Northwest is the third consecutive undefeated opponent the Panthers will have played. 16. Cowanesque Valley (0-3): Look up and down the roster and one sees underclassmen starting and contributing. With smaller numbers than Sayre, CV has kept fighting instead of abandoning the season like its former rival and that experience should help it in the coming years. 17. Warrior Run (0-3): Defenders are making the most of their touchdowns and providing some excitement when they score. Nearly every Warrior Run score this year has covered more than 40 yards. So What Do Selectors Really Think Of The Metaverse Funds Push? Citywireselector.com
So, What Do Selectors Really Think Of The Metaverse Funds Push? – Citywireselector.com https://collincountynewsonline.com/so-what-do-selectors-really-think-of-the-metaverse-funds-push-citywireselector-com/ If Mark Zuckerburg is to be believed, we will soon hold all meetings as virtual avatars around virtual desks in the enterprising world of the metaverse. Fund houses have sought to capture the growth in both companies directly capturing this wave and those likely to benefit indirectly through the launch of metaverse and metaverse-related funds. Invesco, Fidelity International, Franklin Templeton and Legal & General Investment Management (LGIM) have all launched dedicated metaverse funds in the narrow window since the end of August this year, with all bar Invesco being ETF products. Almost all of those unveiling new funds referenced the pivot traditional technology has made into the metaverse, as well as the fact investors are understanding the technology’s implications much better now. French boutique Quantology is something of a pioneer here, having launched a Ucits-compliant metaverse equity fund in June 2021. This strategy was designed to capitalise on the blurring of lines between virtual, physical and augmented reality, as well as associated blockchain and AI-linked ideas. However, it hasn’t been an easy ride for those already operating in this field. According to Morningstar data, the France-domiciled fund has accrued just over €1m in assets since launch, while having lost 51% in US dollar terms over the 12 months to the end of August 2022. Meanwhile, its peer group, the Equity – Technology sector, registered an average decline of 31.7%. Given the battery of challenges nascent industries usually face, along with the market upheaval of the first half of 2022, you would expect demand to falter, but this flurry of launches tells a different story. It comes at a time when investors appear to have cooled on more crypto-centric ideas and instead are focusing on the long-term, structural future of technology. Selector stance So, where do fund buyers sit when it comes to metaverse-specific ideas? Daniele Sironi, head of wealth management at Hanson Asset Management in London, is a long-time fan of the concept. ‘I’ve been interested in the sector for a number of years,’ he told Citywire Selector via email. ‘I started following single names five or six years ago, then I looked at funds and ETFs. ‘With metaverse, I believe you need to focus on subsectors, which are: gaming; socialising (platforms providing content creators); enabling  (such as tech infrastructures, cybersecurity and payment); and, working.’ For Sironi, metaverse strategies fit into a broader structural idea of long-term changes to human interaction, which he said would form an important part of thematic thinking in the future. ‘Usually, but except for large-caps such as Meta and Nvidia, companies tend to be at an early stage and the approach to the metaverse needs to be with a growth-style strategy.’ He is not alone, as Saar Kimel, head of financial products at Oppenheimer, said it is perhaps a part of the market that investors can’t afford to ignore. ‘VR is one of those techs that has been “around the corner” for a long time but the underlying tech has caught up with the dream to a great extent, and with Facebook keen to harvest ever more of our data, I imagine it’ll be pushing this hard. ‘My personal belief is any technology which makes communication between humans easier is likely to end up finding uses, and the pandemic has probably accelerated that,’ he added. However, one fund buyer, who wished to remain anonymous, said the confluence of metaverse ideas with more trader-based cryptocurrency ideas meant caution was necessary. ‘Current market conditions aren’t the best for trying something so untested. We saw the rapid movements with the meme stock rallies and, while this is slightly different, there is an element of uncertainty.’ For those braving new ground, there is a split on the best way to approach it. Sironi said the best way to access the market currently is through active managers, given the inefficiencies at play in many emergent parts of the industry. ‘I believe active managers with specific competencies can add value to the strategy, while ETFs end up being exposed to the larger companies and will dilute the tactical theme, as they are too closely related to technology ETFs in that regard.’ However, Kimel said the opposite was true: ‘Since we are talking about new areas of investment that require deep understanding and knowledge, together with the fact that there are not many products out there, at this stage, I would be looking at ETFs and less so at active managers.’
