The interior of the unit in Albion Mill
RETROSPECTIVE plans to open a health and wellbeing centre in a Bradford mill site have been approved.
A unit in Albion Mills, between Idle and Greengates, was the subject of a retrospective planning application earlier this Summer.
The Albion Health and Wellbeing Centre was proposed by WFH Enterprises Ltd. Their application said the business could also be used for conferencing facilities.
That application has now been approved by planning officers.
It said: “The use of the building will provide an important resource for local people and will encourage healthy living and wellbeing.
“The use of the building for conferencing, leadership development training, dinners for AGM and other purposes, charity raising funds events in the evenings and weekends will be a great asset to the diverse communities within Bradford and Leeds.”

Lewisburg Breaks Out And Dominates Against Midd-West – Williamsport Sun-Gazette https://collincountynewsonline.com/lewisburg-breaks-out-and-dominates-against-midd-west-williamsport-sun-gazette/
LEWISBURG–Wins eluded them, but Lewisburg players were never defeated.
Despite several costly injuries, a brutal schedule and an 0-7 start, the Green Dragons kept grinding away at each practice. In those losses, small steps were being taken even if others did not notice.
Saturday night, Lewisburg took a huge step forward. And all that tireless work paid off in dominant fashion.
Ryan Opperman ran for 118 yards; Wade Young threw two touchdown passes and a nasty defense stifled Midd-West as Lewisburg romped to a 42-7 win on Senior Night at Christy Mathewson Stadium. Michael Casale was a wrecking machine at linebacker, making 15 tackles, Lewisburg forced five turnovers and Cam Michaels produced 101 yards receiving.
Talk about a breakout performance.
“It feels great. We came together as a team today,” Casale said after his sensational performance which included an interception, forced fumble and bruising 31-yard touchdown run. “Every week we’ve been working harder and harder to get where we need to be. We’ve had our ups and downs but it’s good to be here now and get this win and get it on the board.
“We have been working hard. Things haven’t really gone in our favor but it’s awesome to get a good team win,” Opperman said. “The spirit of everyone is real high right now. It’s awesome.”
Lewisburg played awesome. The Dragons built a 28-0 halftime lead, imposed the mercy rule in the third quarter and the starting defense did not allow a point. There may be no such thing as a perfect football performance, but this was pretty close.
And it was quite a reward for a team which has not stopped believing or rallying around each other. A year after winning five of its last six regular season games to reach districts, Lewisburg is showcasing its resilience once again.
“At the end of the day, certain situations happen and as we were losing our games our guys kept telling each other, ‘It’s OK guys we’re going to keep battling and get the next one.’ That’s great to see,” Lewisburg coach Eric Wicks said. “Half the battle is getting them to believe. I think today our confidence showed with us scoring early and us being able to continue pushing that.”
Offensive linemen Garrick Feldman, Jayce Protuck, Nate Malusis, Hayes Schumacher and Andrew Smith provided quite a push all night, paving the way for 337 yards in less than three quarters as Lewisburg took a 42-0 lead. Five different players scored, including four in the first half.
Just one play into the game, Lewisburg showed that this night would be different than the previous seven. Following Casale’s crushing block, Opperman broke down the right sideline and took the first play 76 yards for a touchdown.
It was the start of a dazzling first half performance which included four scoring drives on five plays: four being one play drives and the other two. Combined those 28 points were produced in 85 seconds. During one electric second quarter sequence, Lewisburg scored on three consecutive plays in less than four minutes to go up, 28-0.
“I just had a great block from my fullback. The lead set up perfectly. I just had to bounce outside, and I trusted my speed down the sideline,” Opperman said. “It felt awesome. We’ve had difficulty starting fast and I feel like that’s the reason we’ve lost some of the games we’ve lost and that (touchdown) got everyone going.”
Lewisburg took to the air for its next two touchdowns with Young (4 of 5, 135 yards) dropping dimes on a 34-yard touchdown to Charles Landis and a 26-yarder to Michaels. Landis put a good move on near the right pylon and Young hit him in stride. After Michaels returned a punt 26 yards, Young looked his way and split two defenders, finding him across the middle for a 26-yard touchdown.
Michaels was a three-way threat and intercepted a pass Opperman tipped on the ensuing series. Casale set a physical tone defensively and looked like a bowling ball a play later, bouncing off tacklers and running right through another defender on his way to a 31-yard score which made it 28-0 at halftime.
“It was just a dive, and I ran through the hole and cut back and saw green grass and ran. You have to do what you have to do to get into the end zone,” Casale said. “It started with the line, and they showed what they can do and did it really well.”
Equally encouraging for Lewisburg is that four of those starters are underclassmen, including two freshmen and two sophomores. Malusis threw a perfect block in the third quarter, opening up a hole as Sean Field burst through and scored on a 44-yard run. That came a series after Opperman’s 18-yard score imposed the mercy rule.
“We’ve been moving guys around but for the most part hose guys are building that camaraderie,” Wicks said. “They’re learning to know what to do in certain situations and adjusting well.”
The defense was as ferocious as the offense was explosive. The starters allowed just 73 yards and forced four first-half turnovers. Landis and Michaels helped set up scores with their interceptions and Casale closed the half with a near Pick 6.
Casale did his best Ray Lewis impersonation and already was in on eight tackles by the first quarter’s conclusion. He had 12 by halftime, including one for loss. Fellow linebacker Quinn Michaels recovered a fumble, made two tackles for loss and collected eight tackles. The defensive line consistently pressured quarterback Jasher Wolf and Opperman also recovered a fumble.
“I feel like we definitely need to set the tone defensively,” Opperman said. “We’ve had our rough patches, that’s for sure, but we just keep going and come to work every day. We’ve been waiting for this and hopefully we can build on it for the rest of our games.”
That’s the thing. Lewisburg is not looking back. The Dragons never did during the 0-7 start and will not now after putting together a stellar all-around performance.
It’s all about moving forward. And for a close-knit team which has a blue-collar mentality, it’s back to work.
“We just fought through as a team and have come together as brothers,” Casale said. “That’s really what it’s all about.”

Imagine The Web Pointed Cameras Back At You. Thats What The Metaverse Will Be Like Biometric Update
Imagine The Web Pointed Cameras Back At You. That’s What The Metaverse Will Be Like – Biometric Update https://collincountynewsonline.com/imagine-the-web-pointed-cameras-back-at-you-thats-what-the-metaverse-will-be-like-biometric-update/
Fans or skeptics, people considering the metaverse seem to be realizing for the first time that some of their biometric identifiers will be needed for participation.
News and analysis of metaverse business models lately point out what should have been obvious a decade ago when investments into to the new mirror world picked up speed. It will always be a buzzkill to have to type a logon and password before or after slipping on a headset. Like having to ride a horse to get the keys for a car.
Every (legless) step of the way to life in the metaverse is going to require the recording of one biometric identifier or another. Logging on, buying and selling anything, dating, attending business meetings – if passwords are not being typed, biometrics will fill the void.
It is true that there might be trusted entities that vouch for one’s identity.
Maybe people in the metaverse will have digitally represented payment and ID cards, for instance. Or Apple will transplant its model for alleviating its customers of their need to use most passwords.
But in every case, anyone hoping to have a full life while wearing opaque goggles while sitting in a coffee shop, will have to surrender their voice, face, iris and/or fingerprint to someone else. And there is no reason to stop there. Heartbeats, breath, ear canal structure, anything biometric can and someday will be ID currency.
It is fascinating to see venerable tech culture and business magazine Wired write with a note of alarm about how Facebook’s father organization Meta Platforms plans to put five cameras in a future headset.
Those sensors will not be looking outward, warning wearers that they have wondered onto a real freeway. They will be watching eyes and expressions to transfer that data to an avatar.
Holding that information milliseconds to make avatars more interesting is long enough to analyze, make predictions, sell and, of course, steal.
What is fascinating about Wired’s big take here is that it is the only magazine in the world purpose built at the inception of the internet age. No one has been fawning over/warning about cyberspace as long as its editors have (and in more insufferable fonts and colors).
Now there are misgivings.
Wired’s not alone. Time, one of the United States’ oldest surviving news and culture publication, reports qualms, too.
And The Information, launched in 2013 to dig out deep tech industry stories, this month published a piece noting that Apple is expected to launch its line of virtual reality headsets and content next year with iris scanners for ID verification.
Other than selling headsets, this is not new ground for Apple. Recent iPhones scan either fingerprints or faces and compare the data to biometrics that users store beforehand. To Apple’s credit, the initial scans are stored on the devices and not on the cloud, a common practice that can introduce significant drawbacks in terms of personal privacy. And, in theory, it means Apple cannot make money by selling identifiers.
Trade publication Pymnts rounds out the recent coverage, noting that retail investment management firm Charles Schwab instructs customers calling in to repeat a sentence.
At the time of writing the article, the publication reported, the verbal passcode was “At Schwab, your voice is your password.” Extra points for turning voice biometric security into marketing. No points for predicting that Schwab will be allowing its customers to order trades at a company metaverse office with little more than a cough.
It is good that that the community is looking at a metaverse future more soberly than people did during the early woolly days of the internet. But more questions need asking.
If a company like Apple can permanently (more or less) verify someone once they enter the metaverse, making repeated verifications by others less likely, who prevents biometric identifiers from being harvested when a person walks (assuming) into a corporate metaverse area? Even if anonymized, facial identifiers and displayed emotions are going to be a hard sell for some.
There are plenty of entrepreneurs and academics who say notions of privacy are naïve and antiquated. If so, does entrance to the metaverse, even today, amount to giving up common concepts about privacy?
For-profit technology companies are not invested in anything but producing more profit for shareholders. Practices today bend to pressures tomorrow.
Wired noted that almost exactly a year ago, Facebook said it was erasing the face biometrics that it had collected from its 1 billion subscribers. Now, Meta says its Quest Pro headset will have those cameras. Biometrics-derived money is too tempting to pass up.

Former Morgan Stanley CEO: Crypto Could Become ‘a Huge Way’ That Monetary Transactions Take Place – Featured Bitcoin News – Bitcoin News https://collincountynewsonline.com/former-morgan-stanley-ceo-crypto-could-become-a-huge-way-that-monetary-transactions-take-place-featured-bitcoin-news-bitcoin-news/
Former Morgan Stanley CEO John Mack has confirmed that he still owns bitcoin. While admitting that it is hard for him to understand why crypto has value, the former executive believes that 50 years from now, crypto could be “a huge way that monetary transactions take place.”
Former Morgan Stanley CEO John Mack on Bitcoin and Crypto
Former Morgan Stanley CEO John Mack talked about bitcoin and cryptocurrency in an interview with CNBC Thursday. Mack was the CEO of the global investment bank from June 2005 to January 2010.
Responding to a question about whether he currently owns bitcoin, he confirmed: “I do. Yes.” He further shared:
Through my family office, we have some outright positions in crypto.
The former Morgan Stanley executive also discussed whether Wall Street will become completely digitized in the future. “I don’t think it goes away but I think it changes dramatically,” he said. “Take crypto, it’s hard for me to understand why it has value,” Mack continued, adding:
Fifty years from now maybe that will be a huge way that monetary transactions take place. It’s easy to wire. You don’t have to worry about putting in a bank. It’s on a computer.
The former Morgan Stanley executive opined: “You gotta make sure it’s insulated, protected, and no one can break into it. Fifty years from now, I think things will be even more electronic and driven more and more by input from humans in the computers on how to trade, how to take risks, and make sure they don’t go over their limits.”
Mack has been investing in crypto for many years. In July 2017, he told Bloomberg while discussing his investment in crypto startup Omega One: “I have been watching and investing in the cryptocurrency market over the last several years.” Regarding Omega One, he said at the time that he finds the company “to be an important next step in the emergence of this new economy … making crypto assets cheaper and easier to access.”

The Last Of Us Fan Shares Gorgeous Astronaut Ellie Tattoo – GameRant https://collincountynewsonline.com/the-last-of-us-fan-shares-gorgeous-astronaut-ellie-tattoo-gamerant/
A fan of The Last of Us shares their beautiful tattoo of Ellie wearing an astronaut helmet inspired by a touching moment from The Last of Us 2.
A fan of The Last of Us shared a gorgeous astronaut Ellie tattoo. Ellie’s infatuation with the world prior to the infection represents one of the more wholesome characteristics of The Last of Us, which includes her love of outer space.
The Last of Us has inspired all kinds of fan creations, such as a life-like Clicker mask from one fan, and illustrations that celebrate moments from the game’s story. Even so, nothing is as permanent as a tattoo to showcase one’s adoration, especially one that is as breathtaking as this one.
Fans getting tattoos inspired by this series is not new, such as an incredible The Last of Us Clicker tattoo, or one that pays homage to the giraffe scene. This specific tattoo is more like the latter, in the sense that it reflects the wholesome elements of the series and characters in a way that fans can appreciate. Crossikki shared a photo of their Last of Us tattoo of Ellie wearing an astronaut helmet on Reddit. The tattoo is in a black and white minimalist illustrative style, shaded with stippling to highlight details like Ellie’s backpack and wrinkles in her jeans. Fans can also spot a Firefly symbol on Ellie’s astronaut helmet, which can be interpreted in different ways considering Ellie’s relationship with the Fireflies in the first and second games.
The great thing about tattoos like this one is that they’re mostly only recognizable to the fan-base. Because of that, it is presented as both a meaningful moment to connect players to the game and a breathtaking piece of art that newcomers can enjoy, and potentially even entice them to play. Ellie herself sports a tattoo in The Last of Us 2 that could inspire players in the same way, and the Last of Us tattoo was used for a PS5.
In The Last of Us 2, there is a flashback chapter of Joel leading Ellie to an abandoned museum on her birthday, showcasing Ellie’s excitement and child-like innocence when interacting with different exhibits on dinosaurs, history, and space. The tattoo is inspired by a specific moment where Joel surprises Ellie with a replica spaceship, an astronaut helmet, and a cassette tape that Ellie used to imagine herself as an astronaut taking off for space. This iconic moment has inspired not only tattoos but also beautiful The Last of Us illustrations that reflect what is so great about the seriES, and why it has touched so many.
The Last of Us Part 1 is available on PS5 and coming to PC.

IBM Hopes Autonomous Vessel Technology Can Make Waves In Ship Market TweakTown
IBM Hopes Autonomous Vessel Technology Can Make Waves In Ship Market – TweakTown https://collincountynewsonline.com/ibm-hopes-autonomous-vessel-technology-can-make-waves-in-ship-market-tweaktown/
Tech giant IBM expects its autonomous ship artificial intelligence technology used by commercial and research ships one day. The software is able to optimize decision-making by simulating different alternative choices and identifying possible issues while a ship is on the ocean.

VIEW GALLERY – 2 IMAGES
Earlier in 2022, the unmanned Mayflower Autonomous Ship (MAS) traveled 3,500 unmanned miles from Plymouth, United Kingdom to Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. The Atlantic Ocean crossing took 40 days and featured no human ship captain or onboard crew as it made the journey.
Since naval companies tend to be slower to newer trends, fully autonomous ships probably won’t happen for quite some time – but an AI-powered first officer might prove useful. The majority of marine accidents tend to involve human error, so autonomous software might be able to help a human captain make critical decisions.
Non-profit group ProMare designed and built MAS, and IBM supported the project with its AI and automation technology. MAS features 6 AI-powered cameras, 15 Edge devices, and more than 30 seconds that feed into the AI Captain to guide decision-making.
Even though this technology looks promising, it still had some glaring issues during the Mayflower’s first open tests.
It was noted the first run in 2021 saw the AI work efficiently, but there were mechanical issues, such as when an exhaust system pipe sheared and damaged the generator. And the problems only piled on, as noted by Andy Stanford-Clark, master inventor and CTO for IBM UK, in a statement published by IoT World Today:
“And the second one, we had two problems − one was that an isolator switch failed in the open position which disconnected the generator from the battery pack, so we couldn’t charge the batteries. And the other one, we lost the main navigation computer, which is why we ended up going to Halifax. Luckily, we had a spare, but we only had one spare.”
This type of technology will need much more time before any manufacturers or shipping companies want to jump on board. However, there are definitely possible uses to help augment staffing on ships or used to help a captain make decisions while in control.
Introduction of the MAS and its AI and automation power:

Biden: Truss Plan A ‘mistake’ Amid ‘worldwide Inflation’ – The Associated Press – En Español https://collincountynewsonline.com/biden-truss-plan-a-mistake-amid-worldwide-inflation-the-associated-press-en-espanol/
PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — President Joe Biden on Saturday called embattled British Prime Minister Liz Truss’ abandoned tax cut plan a “mistake,” and said he is worried that other nations’ fiscal policies may hurt the U.S. amid “worldwide inflation.”
Biden said it was “predictable” that the new prime minister on Friday was forced to walk back plans to aggressively cut taxes without identifying cost savings, after Truss’ proposal caused turmoil in global financial markets. It marked an unusual criticism by a U.S. president of the domestic policy decisions of one of its closest allies.
“I wasn’t the only one that thought it was a mistake,” Biden said. “I disagree with the policy, but that’s up to Great Britain.”
Biden’s comments came after weeks of White House officials declining to criticize Truss’ plans, though they emphasized they were monitoring the economic fallout closely. He was speaking to reporters at an Oregon ice cream shop where he made an unannounced stop to promote the candidacy of Democratic gubernatorial candidate Tina Kotek, as Democrats across the country face a tough political environment amid GOP criticism of their handling of the economy.
Biden said he was not concerned about the strength of the dollar — it set a new record against the British Pound in recent weeks — which benefits U.S. imports but makes the country’s exports more expensive to the rest of the world.
The president said the U.S. economy “is strong as hell.”
“I’m concerned about the rest of the world,” he added. “The problem is the lack of economic growth and sound policy in other countries.”
Said Biden: “It’s worldwide inflation, that’s consequential.”

3 Healthy Eating Habits In The Elderly To Maintain Longevity | TheHealthSite.com – TheHealthSite https://collincountynewsonline.com/3-healthy-eating-habits-in-the-elderly-to-maintain-longevity-thehealthsite-com-thehealthsite/
World Food Day 2022: To maintain and achieve a healthy weight and feel better, you must eat nutritious meals and exercise regularly. Moreover, you could realize that exercising and eating healthier can make it easier to manage your demanding, busy life and be there for those dependent on you. Therefore, eating healthy is essential to keep oneself active to improve well-being and feel great. This ‘mantra of life’ implies to all, irrespective of age, gender, topography and many other factors. And for the senior elders of our society,’ eat healthy to stay fit must be followed just like a religious holy book. As you grow older, you undergo many changes, and you may need to adapt your lifestyle for healthy ageing. Healthy eating and regular physical activity are fundamental to good health at any age. Making appropriate lifestyle choices may also avert health problems such as diabetes, heart disease, and cancer.
Dr Prateek Bhardwaj, COO of Vesta Elder Care, shares a few healthy eating tips to help you know what’s best for your older loved one:
Choose high-fibre foods such as fruits, beans, whole-grain loaves of bread and cereals, unsalted nuts and seeds, vividly coloured vegetables (like green beans), and beans.
To retain your bones healthy and strong as you age, consume low-fat or fat-free milk, milk products, or nondairy soy, almond, rice, or other beverages with added vitamin D and calcium.
Skip the fried meals. Drink fluids all day long. You can feel less thirsty as you age, but your body still requires fluids to be hydrated and maintain regularity.
Types Of Foods And Drinks Needed For Elderly
Your body requires fewer calories as you age, but you still need the same amount of nutrients. So, it would be best to concentrate on eating foods high in nutrients. Foods that are high in nutrients pack more of the vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients your body needs into fewer calories. So, increase your intake of nutrient-dense foods and liquids. Older people should “eat the rainbow of foods” since they are full of nutrients, including:
Veggies and fruits
Fat-free or low-fat milk; milk products; or nondairy soy, almond, rice, or other drinks with additional vitamin D and calcium.
Whole grains, such as oats, whole-grain bread, and brown rice.
Poultry, eggs, lean meats, and shellfish
If you are tolerant and aren’t allergic to beans, peas, unsalted almonds, and seeds, they can be your partners in healthy living.
What To Avoid?
Some foods and beverages have many calories but few essential nutrients your body needs. Therefore, you must focus on avoiding or consuming less of these. Added sugars, solid fats, and salt ( in packaged foods ) hold many calories but don’t provide a healthy amount of nutrients. It will be a wise choice to limit these foods and drinks, such as:
sugar-sweetened beverages and foods
foods prepared with solid fats like butter, lard, margarine, and shortening
foods with a lot of salt and additional fat (like butter or lard) (sodium)
Conclusion
The quantity of food and drinks you consume daily depends on your weight, age, metabolism, sex, and physical activity. Predominantly, men require more calories than women. However, at all ages, adults who are more physically active may need to consume more calories than those who are less active.

Bhullar grabs one-shot lead in Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational
Gaganjeet Bhullar shot a solid four-under 68 to lead by one shot after the penultimate round of the Rs 1.5 crore Jeev Milkha Singh Invitational in Chandigarh on Sunday.
Bhullar has a three-day total of 14-under 202 at the Chandigarh Golf Club.
Bengaluru’s Chikkarangappa S struck a 67 and local favourite Karandeep Kochhar carded an error-free 68 as both players were hot on the leader’s heels in tied second place at a total of 13-under 203.
Second round leader Abhijit Singh Chadha, another Chandigarh golfer, slipped to fourth place at 11-under 205 after shooting a 72 on Saturday.
Bhullar (69-65-68), a winner of 11 international titles, gained one spot from his overnight second position as a result of his steady effort that featured five birdies and a bogey.
He sank early birdies on the first and third from a range of eight to 12 feet. After his bogey on the fourth, Gaganjeet created a few opportunities on the front-nine but could only manage a birdie on the sixth as he missed a few short putts.
On the back-nine, Bhullar made a couple of good par saves and birdies on the two par-5s, 13th and 16th, including a great up and down on the latter, to end the day as sole leader.
Bhullar, who originally hails from Kapurthala but is now based in Chandigarh, said, “I struck it well and hit a lot of regulations today but didn’t hole as many putts as the last round. It was a steady round as I just conceded one bogey.
“My past experiences have taught me that whenever you are in contention over the weekend, minimizing unforced errors gives you an opportunity to climb up the leaderboard. That was the goal today.
“I play this golf course four times a week. In the past two years I have spent a lot of time in Chandigarh. That’s the reason that I feel at home playing here.” Chikkarangappa’s (65-71-67) round featured seven birdies and two bogeys and lifted him two spots from his overnight fourth position. He managed to pull himself out of trouble on a few occasions.
Chikka, the 2018 champion, extracted birdies in situations where he found the bunker, trees and the rough.
Karandeep (65-70-68), the 2020 champion, brought in a card of 68 to move up one spot from his overnight third place.
Among the seven players bunched in tied fifth at a total of eight-under 208, were Chandigarh-based golfers Akshay Sharma and Amrit Lal as well as prominent names Rahil Gangjee, Rashid Khan and Khalin Joshi.
Among the other big names, Jyoti Randhawa was tied 13th at six-under 210, while Ajeetesh Sandhu and Udayan Mane were both tied 28th at four-under 212.
The two amateurs who made the cut, local golfer Brijesh Kumar and Bengaluru’s Aryan Roopa Anand, were both tied 52nd at three-over 219.

9 Hardest Stealth Games Ever Made, Ranked – GameRant https://collincountynewsonline.com/9-hardest-stealth-games-ever-made-ranked-gamerant/
Stealth mechanics are a common feature in modern video games. Even games that are traditionally action-focused, like Elden Ring for example, contain at least a few stealth abilities, usually cobbled together from mechanics featured in other games. Crouching in tall grass? That’s stealth. Sneak up behind an enemy for an easy kill? That’s stealth too. Running away until the enemies “forget” they saw a threat? That’s definitely stealth.
However, when it comes to games where stealth is the primary focus, these mechanics are much more robust. Enemies are smart and deadly, and their vision and hearing pick up the slightest hints of movement. The best – and most difficult – stealth games embrace all the features mentioned above as well as many others, weaving them into a tapestry of danger that requires strategic planning, lightning-fast movement, and a finely-tuned sense of timing to succeed.
9/9 Deus Ex: Mankind Divided
The Deus Ex series has always been known for its incorporation of stealth mechanics into what outwardly appeared to be a sci-fi FPS game. The newer entries to the series take that stealth element to even greater heights, especially in the semi-open world city of Prague in Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.
Mankind Divided received a lot of (fair) criticism about its story, particularly its abrupt ending. Lost in that conversation is the treasure trove of stealth options provided to players as they explore Prague. Adam Jensen has some unique stealth abilities, and whether he’s jumping across rooftops or skulking through sewers, the game incorporates them into its systems incredibly well. When players encounter a room full of enemies, and the real test begins. Trying to clear the game non-lethally is intensely challenging, and will require every bit of tech Jensen installs on his body.
8/9 Chronicles Of Riddick: Escape From Butcher Bay
When it comes to movie tie-in games, one that gets criminally overlooked is Escape From Butcher Bay, the tie in to Vin Diesel’s The Chronicles of Riddick from 2004. The game is a prequel to the franchise’s first movie, Pitch Black, and chronicles Riddick’s escape from the most dangerous and brutal prison colony in the galaxy. It’s not entirely stealth-focused, there are moments of first-person shooting and hand-to-hand combat, but the stealth sections are where the game really shines.
For one, they’re extremely challenging. Riddick can die in just a few hits, so caution dictates every move. That said, these sections also make the best use of Riddick’s skills, including his “eyeshine” ability to see in the dark, which can also blind him if used in bright areas. Riddick can take out enemies from behind or by dropping from above, getting quick kills with improvised weapons he finds throughout the prison. The game strikes a perfect balance between making Riddick feel vulnerable, and making him feel like a total badass.
7/9 Dishonored 2
The Dishonored series is best known for its stealth gameplay. While technically players can take an aggressive playstyle (and a few have pulled off some awesome sequences doing so), the stealth approach is the most challenging – and most rewarding – way to play. The first game in the series acts as a fantastic proof-of-concept, but Dishonored 2 is refined to a spectacular degree.
The way to truly make Dishonored 2 one of the hardest stealth games of all time is to try playing non-lethally on the hardest difficulty. Even without changing difficulty settings, it’s still a huge challenge. One enemy won’t pose much of a threat, but as soon as a few of them work together death comes quickly afterward. Combine that with the extreme verticality and unusual gimmicks in each level, and Dishonored 2 never fails to put up a challenge.
6/9 Alien: Isolation
Most players wouldn’t immediately think of Alien: Isolation as a stealth game, but while the player does receive the occasional weapon, for the most part they spend the game hiding under medical gurneys and inside closets, quietly moving past a host of dangerous enemies. The one enemy that transforms this game from hard to very hard is the Xenomorph.
There are only a few missions where players deal with the Xenomorph directly, but they are widely considered to be the best (and hardest) parts of the game. Players can track the Xenomorph via the iconic motion detector, but they move more slowly while doing so. Even if they manage to detect the thing, there’s no way to fight it. It just gives the player an extra moment to find somewhere to hide. If they don’t, it’ll take the Xenomorph about three seconds to kill them.
5/9 Mark Of The Ninja
It doesn’t necessarily leave this impression upon its completion, but Mark of the Ninja is a hard game. Its generous checkpoint system makes it easy to forget how many attempts each level – and even each section of a level – takes to complete, but this is a game that takes its stealth very seriously.
2D platformers don’t really jump to mind when imagining an ideal stealth experience, but Klei Entertainment crafted a masterclass in slow, quiet action gameplay. Every enemy the player faces requires pinpoint timing and a pre-planned escape route, and as the levels progress and the challenge ramps up, not even that will be enough to ensure success.
4/9 Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory
There have been three Splinter Cell games released since Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory in 2005, but when fans envision a new, modern take on the series, that vision always harkens back to Chaos Theory. For a franchise with as much success as Splinter Cell has had, this entry is still the premier example of what the ultimate Sam Fisher video game looks like.
A big part of that is just how real these games feel. There is a palpable sensation to the way Sam hides in the shadows. He’s not a bullet sponge, and his enemies always have the more powerful weaponry, but Sam Fisher possesses a unique set of skills (and a few essential gadgets) that make him a nightmare to deal with. It’s up to the player to master those skills and gadgets, because one misstep into a well-lit room will leave Sam exposed and almost completely helpless.
The Metal Gear franchise practically pioneered the stealth genre, dating all the way back to the first game in 1998. While Hideo Kojima has spent the better part of his 30-year development career refining the series’ gameplay (with a couple digressions along the way), he hit a pinnacle with Metal Gear Solid V.
Most stealth games give the player some sense of when they are or are not visible to enemies. The Phantom Pain does no such thing, and instead relies on player understanding. If it seems like Snake should be hidden, he probably is. It takes some getting used to, especially in the game’s brightly-lit areas, but the more players adapt to that system the more reliable it becomes. Combine that with a multitude of gadgets, weapons, and companions Snake can bring with him on missions, and despite the controversy surrounding its development,The Phantom Pain is arguably the most complete stealth experience ever made.
2/9 Shadow Tactics: Blades Of The Shogun
For the PC players out there, Shadow Tactics: Blades of the Shogun offers a stealth experience that stands apart from every other entry in the genre. In a typical stealth game, players would have full control over one character. In Shadow Tactics, players have an isometric tactical view through which they issue orders to five characters at once.
Naturally, this significantly increases the game’s challenge. Guiding those five assassins through enemy camps riddled with enemies is no easy feat. It takes planning, caution, and wits to pull it off. The best option is usually to avoid combat entirely, picking off the occasional lone guard when there is no other choice. Shadow Tactics stands apart in its genre both for its gameplay, its setting, and its high degree of difficulty.
1/9 Hitman: Absolution
There was no doubt that a Hitman game would make this list, but of all the possible entries, why the often-criticized Hitman: Absolution? The game was heavily panned for taking the Hitman franchise away from its roots and pushing it in a more action-heavy direction. Well, that’s exactly why it’s the hardest stealth game of all time: because it’s not designed to be a pure stealth game.
Cranking Hitman: Absolution up to the hardest difficulty and trying to play through it without being detected is virtually impossible. Crowds are dense in this game, and enemies become suspicious at the faintest hint of Agent 47’s presence, and will draw their weapons the next instant. The game wants players to start shooting to save themselves. Ignore that solicitation, and this may be the hardest challenge players will ever face.

Terra Classic Price Prediction Is LUNC Dead Two Experts Predict Zero Cryptonews
Terra Classic Price Prediction – Is LUNC Dead, Two Experts Predict ‘Zero’ – Cryptonews https://collincountynewsonline.com/terra-classic-price-prediction-is-lunc-dead-two-experts-predict-zero-cryptonews/
The day the Terra Classic price (LUNC) hit its 2022 top, two of the best crypto traders correctly predicted the bull run was over.
That was September 8th, when the LUNC price reached $0.000593 on Binance, and as of mid October LUNC is now trading over 50% lower, below the $0.0003 support level.
Terra LUNA Classic Price Prediction – Light Crypto
Light (@lightcrypto), who has 169,000 followers, tweeted: “Think LUNC burn trade is about to implode, momentum just broke, elevator down is a high possibility”.
GCR (@GiganticRebirth), who has 187,000 followers, replied from his secondary account with a Hillary Clinton quote “that’s right, zero”. GCR famously won a $10 million bet against former Terraform Labs CEO Do Kwon, with his bearish Terra LUNA price prediction back in March.
Light, who runs a prop trading firm, then posted a long tweet thread a few days later with a mix of fundamental and technical analysis:
As well as predicting the Terra Classic price action would be a pump and dump – “pumped by hit-and-run developers and cynical exchange operators, all taking advantage of the hordes of retail looking to make it all back in one trade” he tweeted a few days later that LUNC would drop 90%+ to return to its origin, or lower.
Later that month, the LUNC price did crash 70% to $0.000179, although nothing goes down in a straight line (the Terra LUNA collapse in May was a black swan event caused by the circulating supply hyper inflating to 6.5 trillion).
For Light’s prediction to play out – he charted a target of $0.00004, the yearly low of the new Terra Classic asset since the hard fork, hit on June 9th 2022 – the LUNC price would need to drop 84% from today’s price.
October LUNC Price Prediction Tweets – LUNC Burn
Light’s most recent tweet thread this month centres around Binance burning LUNC tokens, and how the 1.2% LUNC burn is not enough to justify Terra Classic increasing over $1 billion in market cap since it was announced.
He also posted Coinalyze data on Oct 3rd showing an “insane amount of deadwood to wipe out in LUNC derivatives, $262.2 million across venues and instruments, all levered, all driven by a bankrupt narrative into a sell the news event.”
Light opened a Terra Classic short position on Oct 2nd:
“LUNC managed to add over $1b in market capitalization on a Binance announcement that will see a few million dollars removed from its circulating supply tomorrow.
And in the long run, that weekly burn will trend to 0 along with LUNC’s volume. Filled full short again.”
Incredibly, Oct 2nd was again a top, as the LUNC price spiked back to $0.000372 but the bounce from $0.0001794 ended there.
Like his Sept 8th post, the Terra Classic price has not traded higher than that day since then.
Across crypto Twitter circles, Light is considered one of the best crypto traders to follow for price predictions and other market analysis.
As is GCR, who corrected predicted the Bitcoin price was topped out back in November 2021, when the all-time high of $69,000 was hit and the bear market began.
We reported on how Gigantic Rebirth shorted LUNC at $0.00042 on Sept 9th, and was up almost $4.4 million in PnL a week later.
Also on the day the Terra Classic price topped, another notable crypto analyst Tree of Alpha compared LUNC to a ponzi scheme and pointed out transaction tax burns didn’t prevent SafeMoon from going to zero.
Terra Classic Alternatives
If Light and GCR’s Terra Classic predictions continue to be accurate – as they have been so far – retail investors holding LUNC will stand to lose a lot in the correction.
See our reviews of the latest crypto presales for some high potential LUNC alternatives. New token presales typically generate a higher ROI than assets that already have a multi-billion dollar market capitalization.
We previously reviewed Tamadoge before it outperformed the Terra Classic bull run within the space of a week, rising over 1,900% before a retracement.
Our latest review is of IMPT token, a carbon offsetting crypto project with greater real-world utility than LUNC.

Melanie Ramos was 15 when she took a pill that killed her
By Regan Morris
BBC News, Los Angeles
Teen overdose deaths have never been higher in the US as young Americans are increasingly poisoned by the synthetic opiate fentanyl, even as fewer teens use drugs.
More than 100,000 Americans died of drug overdoses last year – the vast majority were adults – but the fastest growing group to die of overdoses were teenagers.
Melanie Ramos’ family knows this all too well. The 15-year-old girl died inside her school’s bathroom last month after taking a pill laced with fentanyl.
Melanie and her friend thought they were taking Percocet, a pain medication that is sometimes abused. But the counterfeit pills were laced with fentanyl and she was poisoned.
“She was a beautiful, sweet girl coming from hardworking parents,” her uncle Oscar said at a candlelight vigil on the steps of Bernstein High School, where friends and family prayed in Spanish and placed flowers on a shrine to Melanie.
Fentanyl is typically smuggled into the United States by Mexican drug cartels. While it used to be laced into the hardest drugs like heroin, the cartels now mass-produce fentanyl pills in rainbow colours to mimic prescription pills and, some say, to target kids who are more willing to experiment with them.
In Los Angeles a spate of overdose deaths from pills has authorities worried, and on Wednesday, the state of California seized 52lb (24kg) of fentanyl powder – enough to make a quarter million pills – as part of a state-wide operation led by the Justice department.
But the problem extends across the US. In New York last week, authorities seized 15,000 rainbow coloured pills hidden in a Lego toy box.
The US is an outlier when it comes to overdoses, with a death rate 20 times the global average – although Scotland is not far behind.
“We are far and away the world leader in overdose death unfortunately,” said Joseph Friedman, a substance use researcher at the University of California Los Angeles.
The overdose rate among school-aged children in the US doubled between 2019 and 2020 and then rose a further 20% last year, he said.
“Teen drug use is becoming more dangerous but not more common,” Mr Friedman said, adding that fentanyl, not the stress of the pandemic was to blame: Teen drug use actually dropped sharply during the pandemic because it is usually a social activity.

Melanie’s high school, like other LA schools, will now stock Narcan, an overdose reversal medication
At a contentious meeting at Bernstein High School, where Melanie died, officials and police warned upset families and children that “one pill can kill”.
Her death has prompted LA officials to stock the overdose reversal medication, Narcan, in every school.
The medication, which commonly comes in the form of a nasal spray, can be used by anyone to reverse the effects of an overdose.
Increasing access to Narcan is also part of a federal response to the opioid crisis announced this month by the Biden administration, which said it would inject $1.5bn (£1.3bn) to fund programmes and support law enforcement to go after drug traffickers.
Experts say teens will experiment with drugs no matter what they are told or taught in schools, so overdose prevention is the only way to slow the growth in overdose deaths.
Community Health Project Los Angeles workers provide free Narcan and fentanyl testing strips – so people can test drugs before getting high. They are glad schools will now keep Narcan on hand, and have urged parents and kids to carry it in their backpacks.

Schools will have the nasal spray version of Narcan
At a recent training, drug and alcohol counsellor Sandra Mims demonstrated how to use the spray – one spritz up the nose, followed by a rub on the sternum. Then another spray 2-3 minutes later if the person overdosing did not respond.
“Children start as young as 12,” Ms Mims said. “It’s so much more deadly now with fentanyl and the synthetic pills.”
Nick Angelo, who has used opiates in the past but now works for the non-profit, saved three people with Narcan in a single week. But he sounded weary rather than heroic when talking about it.
“When me and my friends were using opiates we didn’t have to worry that every single hit we took could be our last,” he said.

ABERDEEN, Idaho (KIFI) – The Idaho Utilities Commission has made a decision in the clash between the crypto company GeoBitmine and Idaho Power, which could impact crypto start-ups throughout the state.
GeoBitmine had plans to convert the old Simplot plant in Aberdeen into a greenhouse, which would then be heated by crypto-mining computer servers.
But those plans were halted, due to a new customer classification by Idaho Power. The class would involve a set energy rate for crypto companies and would let Idaho Power divert energy from the company in the summer, without compensation.
The Utilities Commission has now denied GeoBitmine’s petition for a new rate, but ruled that Idaho Power must give the company fair compensation when diverting their electricity.
GeoBitmine founder and CEO, Jay Jorgenson, says with this change, they’re willing to come back to the negotiating table.
“We want to take advantage of an opportunity to develop the state of Idaho, create those year-round jobs in jobs, and bring a lot of tax revenue and benefits to the state,” said Jorgenson. “The Aberdeen Idaho facility is still very much a place that we would like to entertain, if Idaho Power would be willing to come back to the table and say, ‘Okay, we’ve learned a few things, let’s see how we can do business together.'”
But the crypto company has other options in the state if the partnership doesn’t work out.
Idaho Power was not available for comment, but their new crypto customer classification has been approved by the Utilities Commission.
However, owners of crypto companies believe that the new resolution opens the door for more Bitcoin mining in the state.
“Now you have a lot of people in and around the country, different capital groups looking for places to deploy mining operations. Idaho now becomes a contender,” said Bosie-based Bitcoin Miner, Tom Merkle. “So, basically you could say, you know, Idaho is now kind of given a stamp of approval.”
2022 Orioles Minor League Awards Baltimore Sports And Life
2022 Orioles Minor League Awards – Baltimore Sports And Life https://collincountynewsonline.com/2022-orioles-minor-league-awards-baltimore-sports-and-life/
The Minor League Baseball season was marked by several highlights in the Baltimore Orioles farm system, including strong individual performances. To honor the best of the best, I join my On The Verge co-hosts Bob Phelan and Nick Stevens to give out our 2022 Orioles minor league awards.
Categories for the 2022 Orioles minor league awards include player and pitcher of the year, along with honors for managing, defense, and breakout performances. While these players vary in their backgrounds and prospect stock, they collectively represent the strides the organization is making.
(You can discuss this on the BSL board here.)
Player of the Year: Gunnar Henderson, infielder
With perhaps the best overall season in Minor League Baseball, Henderson beats a strong field of Orioles prospects to receive this honor unanimously. Beginning with an impressive .312/.452/.573 slash line in 47 games at Double-A Bowie, Henderson shot through the minors and made his major-league debut at the end of August. Before arriving in Baltimore, he posted a .947 OPS with 19 home runs between Bowie and Triple-A Norfolk, adding four more in the majors to give him a total of 23 on the season.
Henderson also played impressive defense around the infield, particularly third base, while striking out at a clip of 23% after whiffing 31% of the time in 2021. His performance in 2022 made Henderson the consensus top prospect in the game, and he should be a preseason favorite to win the American League Rookie of the Year in 2023.
Also receiving votes: Jordan Westburg, Colton Cowser, Connor Norby
Pitchers of the Year: Justin Armbruester, RHP; Ryan Watson, RHP
In a season where several under-the-radar pitching prospects took major steps forward, Armbuester and Watson emerge as our honorees—and do so through completely different paths. Armbruester, a 12th round draft choice out of New Mexico in 2021, was effective in 12 starts for High-A Aberdeen before earning a promotion to Bowie. Despite moving to a higher level and more hitter-friendly confines, the right-hander improved with the Baysox—showing better command (2.3 BB/9 compared to a 3.0 mark in Aberdeen), while slashing his ERA (4.02 to 3.69). Overall, he pitched to a 126:34 K:BB ratio in 117 innings between the two levels with a 3.85 ERA.
Watson, meanwhile, began the season in Bowie and transitioned into the rotation in late April despite having thrown primarily as a reliever since his college days at Auburn. He struck out 100 batters in 95 innings with the Baysox, while walking just 21. A late-season cameo in Norfolk saw Watson pitch exclusively in relief, where he had as many strikeouts as walks (8) in 12.1 innings pitched, giving him 108 strikeouts against 29 free passes in 112.1 innings. Watson could profile a multi-relief option in the majors as soon as next year, as his 2022 season showed he can handle an increased workload.
Note: This award resulted in a tie because of our weighted system for voting. Nick and I had Watson first on our ballots and Armbruester second, with Bob flipping the two on his ballot.
Also receiving votes: Noah Denoyer
Manager/Coach of the Year: Roberto Mercado, Aberdeen IronBirds manager
The IronBirds success under Mercado speaks for itself: The team finished the season 78-54, came just one win away from the South Atlantic League championship, and saw many of its players achieve success upon promotions to higher levels (Armbruester, Connor Norby, Colton Cowser, and Coby Mayo are among several examples).
However, Mercado quickly earned the respect of many around the game—both inside and outside the organization—in his professional debut as a manager. He came to the Orioles with a unique background, having previously worked as a dean and head baseball coach at New Britain High School in Connecticut as well as a coach in the summer-collegiate Cape Cod League.
Also receiving votes: Forrest Herman (pitching coach, Aberdeen), Josh Conway (pitching coach, Bowie), Brandon Becker (hitting coach, Bowie), Tim Gibbons (hitting coach, Norfolk).
Breakout Player of the Year: Darell Hernaiz, infielder
A 5th-round draft pick out of Americas High School (El Paso, TX) in 2019, Hernaiz had a solid full-season debut with Delmarva in 2021. However, organizational depth contributed at least in part to him returning there to start this year. Rather than let that hurt his performance, Hernaiz responded with an excellent run that jumpstarted a season that saw him play across three levels. Overall, he batted .273/.341/.438 with 12 home runs in 452 plate appearances between Delmarva, Aberdeen, and Bowie with an 8% walk rate and 18% strikeout rate. Hernaiz also played solid defense around the infield, including shortstop, and swiped 32 bases in 36 attempts.
Hernaiz will enter next season as a 21-year-old regular at Double-A. He fits the bill of a potential major-league utility player, who could develop into a regular if he continues to make strides offensively. On top of his on-field performance, Hernaiz was praised for his leadership during his time at Delmarva and his response to the adversity he faced this season.
Also receiving votes: Frederick Bencosme, Deivy Cruz, Aron Estrada
Platinum Glove: Joey Ortiz
There is so much positive to say about Ortiz’s season, especially his recovery from a slow start at the plate that allowed him to slug his way to Triple-A and into FanGraphs’ top-100 prospect rankings. While that is part of what Ortiz’s season so special, his defense continues at shortstop continues to earn high praise. He has the quickness, arm, range, and instincts of a big-league shortstop, and seemingly a night did not go by this season without at least one highlight reel play.
Rule 5-eligible this offseason, Ortiz is a lock to receive a 40-man roster spot. Although his name could surface in trade talks if the Orioles deal from their farm system to improve the major-league roster this offseason, there is reason to believe that if he stays in the organization, Ortiz could play his way onto the Orioles roster sometime next season and make an immediate impact with his glove.
Also receiving votes: Maverick Handley, Collin Burns, Gunnar Henderson, Coby Mayo.

Elections Expected To Bring Smiles To Travel And Hotel Industry The Star Online
Elections Expected To Bring Smiles To Travel And Hotel Industry – The Star Online https://collincountynewsonline.com/elections-expected-to-bring-smiles-to-travel-and-hotel-industry-the-star-online/
PETALING JAYA: Despite the gloomy skies of the monsoon season, the 15th General Election (GE15) is still expected to bring a ray of sunshine to the domestic travel and hospitality industry.
Even with predictions of a lower voter turnout due to political fatigue and the possibility of polling day being a weekday, domestic travel is expected to see a rise during the election period.
This is because party workers, election staff and voters will be on the ground, said Malaysian Association of Tour and Travel Agents president Datuk Tan Kok Liang.
“Hotels, transport service providers, and food and beverage outlets can look forward to a significant rise in revenue,” he added.
Asked if there had been tour cancellations or changes in vacation dates by holidaymakers, Tan said this has not been the case as voting is not mandatory in Malaysia.
“Many families are going ahead with their overseas holidays regardless of the polling date, and international tours that had been booked earlier will likely proceed.
“Cancellations are minimal except for active politicians and party members who may have other responsibilities,” he said.
According to Melaka Tourism Association president Madelina Kuah, no bookings by independent travellers or group package tours have been cancelled so far.
She said that since Melaka had already held its state election in 2021, there were only six parliamentary seats up for grabs in GE15.
“On voting day, it is likely that people who have committed to travelling will go ahead,” said Kuah.
Sky Mirror Tour & Travel Sdn Bhd managing director Dyven Wong said people are waiting until the Election Commission (EC) announces the polling date before rescheduling travel plans.
“Until today, no customer has cancelled or postponed bookings because of GE15,” he said.
Political analyst Prof Dr Sivamurugan Pandian of Universiti Sains Malaysia expects voter turnout in this election to be lower than in GE14 in 2018, which was at 82.32%.
A low turnout will give an advantage to Barisan Nasional, he said, adding that the high turnout in GE14 saw Pakatan Harapan form the government for the first time, while low turnouts at the Melaka and Johor state elections secured big wins for Barisan Nasional.
“It is very likely that many Malaysians will not come back to vote unless political parties can convince them,” said the professor.
Prof Sivamurugan also said a low turnout could also be expected if GE15 is held on a weekday, adding that this is nothing new.
“The last GE was held on a Wednesday. In fact, our first GE after independence in 1959 was held on a Wednesday; GE9 on a Tuesday; and GE10 on a Monday.
“However, it’s better to have it on a weekend to encourage more voters to come out and vote,” he said, adding that Malaysian voters are also tired of the continuous politicking since 2018.
“A ‘wow’ or feel-good factor will motivate them to come out, but it all depends on issues brought up by the parties and candidates,” he said.
The EC will meet on Thursday to set nomination and polling dates.

EVE SIMMONS: I Saw Deliciously Ella As Beautiful Successful And Happy Daily Mail
EVE SIMMONS: I Saw Deliciously Ella As Beautiful, Successful And Happy – Daily Mail https://collincountynewsonline.com/eve-simmons-i-saw-deliciously-ella-as-beautiful-successful-and-happy-daily-mail/
A few weeks ago I approached Deliciously Ella to come on The Mail on Sunday’s Medical Minefield podcast. She declined, which was a shame – but unsurprising, given the delicate subject. I wanted the hugely successful food blogger-turned-wellness-guru – real name Ella Mills – to elaborate on comments she’d made in a recent magazine interview, hitting back at her critics.
In particular, she addressed allegations made in a 2016 BBC3 documentary, Clean Eating’s Dirty Secrets: that her vegan, dairy, sugar and gluten-free recipes may have contributed to cases of orthorexia, an eating disorder characterised by an obsession with only consuming ‘healthy’ foods.
She felt this was unfair – after all, the controversial term ‘clean eating’ was never a term she’d used herself, she said (more on how accurate that is later). Ella claimed her intention was to promote a relaxed approach to food. ‘Do what works for you,’ was her ‘nuanced’ message.
Moreover, she was hurt by the allegations. Her critics were making personal attacks on a young woman who was offering ideas for healthy living. I didn’t entirely agree, and wanted to discuss why.
That interview was not the first time Ella has issued these kinds of rebuttals. On author Elizabeth Day’s podcast How To Fail, in March 2020, Ella claimed she and other female food writers who advocated similar approaches had been treated ‘like witches’.
A few weeks ago I approached Deliciously Ella (pictured) to come on The Mail on Sunday’s Medical Minefield podcast. She declined, which was a shame – but unsurprising, given the delicate subject
One female journalist who’d levelled criticism at Ella ‘obviously hates me… she thinks I’m the devil’, she said on How To Fail. She reiterated a point she has made often, that she ‘is not about’ weight loss or looks.
But I don’t think it’s quite as simple as that. I don’t question Ella’s intentions. However, some young women did become obsessive about her kind of diet advice, taking it to extremes. I know this, because I was one of them. And over the years I’ve spoken to others who have had similar experiences.
Ella wasn’t the only food guru whose content was being misused by some vulnerable young women. There was the popular Hemsley sisters, who wrote two cookbooks full of recipes free from gluten, grains and sugar. And nutritional therapist Madeleine Shaw, whose blog advised readers that gluten was ‘like sandpaper for the gut’.
These influencers have faded from the spotlight. Ella, meanwhile, is arguably more successful than ever – and still talking about clean eating (albeit to bring an end to the conversation). And I think this subject is, at the very least, worthy of more reflection.
It is easy to misunderstand eating disorders and assume they are always about weight loss. They are complex, resulting from a combination of genetic factors and difficult experiences, as well as environmental triggers. I saw Ella as beautiful, successful and happy – everything I wanted to be.
Slavishly following her way of eating gave me a sense of control, at a time when life felt unstable and chaotic. I became so unwell due to my anorexia that, at the age of 24, I was hospitalised. Luckily I recovered. Many don’t. I suppose Ella’s unwillingness to speak to me about this – and the role I feel she inadvertently played – hurts.
Ella’s blog, launched in 2012 when she was just 21, became a phenomenon. Her debut cookbook, published in 2015, sold a record-breaking 32,000 copies in its first week alone, and there were four more after that.
There’s now an eponymous range of snacks, stocked in more than 5,000 UK stores. The Deliciously Ella app, Feel Better, launched in 2019 and has been downloaded 100,000 times. She has many millions of followers across all social media platforms. Deliciously Ella Ltd is expected to turn over £20 million this year.

At its core, her message is about the health benefits of the ingredients she uses.
The recipes published on her blog and in her first book explained how to make pasta from ‘spiralised’ courgette ribbons and cakes with sweet potato rather than eggs or butter. Her Double Chocolate Cheesecake Brownies consist of mashed dates, avocado, banana and raw cacao powder.
Unlike conventional brownies, which are ‘not the kind of food you’d imagine could ever nurture your body’, her version is ‘the world’s healthiest’. She adds on her blog: ‘You can enjoy as many of them as you like without any negative effects – no bloated stomach, no heart palpitations, no blood sugar crashes, no nothing…’
A hot chocolate, made with home-made almond milk, date syrup, raw cacao and almond butter, provides ‘an incredible boost of disease-fighting antioxidants, as well as lots of the happy-hormone serotonin, which acts as a natural antidepressant’. Her book claims that foods she uses make the skin ‘glow’ and the hair ‘amazing’.
I interpreted her words as rules to live by… with disastrous consequences
Then there is her remarkable personal story. Her way of eating, she claims, helped her recover from a little-understood nervous system condition called postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome, which causes dizziness, fainting, fatigue and chest pains.
Overnight, she gave up ‘all meat, dairy, sugar, gluten, anything processed and all chemicals and additives’. It was ‘a pretty drastic change’ but ‘eating this way has allowed me to take control of my illness, stopping the constant pain, restoring my energy and giving me my life back again’.
Eighteen months after starting ‘this lifestyle’, she’d been able to come off all medication. ‘I feel so incredible, better than ever really!’ she wrote.
I remember reading this, looking at her gorgeous smile, glossy hair and tiny waist and thinking: ‘I want some of what she’s having.’
Slavishly following her way of eating gave me a sense of control, at a time when life felt unstable and chaotic. I became so unwell due to my anorexia that, at the age of 24, I was hospitalised. Luckily I recovered. Many don’t. I suppose Ella’s unwillingness to speak to me about this – and the role I feel she inadvertently played – hurts
And there were other health claims. Sugar was ‘inflammatory’ and ‘bad’. The calcium in milk ‘has several negative impacts on our bodies’ and ‘isn’t as great for your bones as most of us have been brought up to believe’.
Adding ‘some cheese to a baked potato’ or ‘some milk to your tea’ is ‘just not a problem… if you want to include these then please do’. She was ‘not here to point fingers or encourage feelings of guilt’. But in the same breath ‘saying goodbye’ to dairy – and processed foods, gluten and refined sugar – ‘will really help you look and feel your best’.
In a social-media post, she revealed that when she had been unwell in 2011, she’d been so bloated she looked more pregnant than when she was actually pregnant (Ella now has two daughters, aged two and three). She posted two pictures to prove this.
While reminding her readers that ‘Deliciously Ella isn’t about aesthetics’, she claimed: ‘It was how I looked almost all the time… when I was really ill, it was so swollen and painful and made me so insecure, I felt as though I’d lost control of my body totally.’
She claimed food was key to her transformation: ‘There was nothing magic here, just learning to look after my body through plant-based food, nourishing meals, yoga, meditation, help from a nutritionist, probiotics, time, patience and self-love.’
Many would say following her recommendations had only positive effects. But I interpreted them as rules to live by, which had disastrous consequences. I eliminated dairy, sugar and processed food from my diet. Next I stopped eating gluten, which inevitably meant cutting out bread and pasta altogether (the gluten-free options were too expensive). Anything breadcrumbed or battered was obviously out – as were sweet treats. Eventually, most meals were plates of plain vegetables. Within six months, I’d lost a fifth of my body weight.
During my recovery, in 2016, I launched a website called Not Plant Based. The aim was to dispel diet myths and support people with eating disorders. I quickly discovered I wasn’t the only one who’d been taken to a darker place by healthy eating advice.
At its core, her message is about the health benefits of the ingredients she uses
And in a striking number of the stories, Deliciously Ella and other influencers were mentioned. Other women have named Ella publicly, in online articles in which they describe their descent into orthorexia.
Actor Daniela Isaacs wrote that she sought out clean eating as a means of easing symptoms of coeliac disease – which causes the body to overreact to gluten. She wrote: ‘I read Deliciously Ella’s story about having an autoimmune disease like me, which she cured by changing her diet, so I related to her.
‘I cut out sugar, dairy and my gluten-free substitutes like bread and pasta.’ Daniela dropped from a size eight to a six, lost her periods for a year and became ‘scared’ of eating out.
In 2017, I interviewed Ella for Not Plant Based, in which she said she wanted to have an ‘open and honest’ conversation about all this. I revealed to her the role I felt the clean-eating trend played in the development of my eating disorder. But Ella clearly felt she had nothing to do with it. ‘On everything I write, it says, please do what works for you,’ she told me.
These disclaimers, she said, are ‘the best you can do before it gets a little policing of people. Take a baking book, with cake recipes. There’s nothing saying, ‘Please ...

Pass interference
A pass interference call on Brian Branch gives Tennessee new life on an incomplete third-down throw. Volunteers trying to put something together here down 49-42 with under 6:30 remaining in the game.

Disaster for Tennessee
Hendon Hooker and Jabari Small just botched a read-option handoff, leading to a go-ahead touchdown from Alabama with 7:49 remaining. The football hit the ground on the exchange, and Dallas Turner scooped it up and walked in for a touchdown. That could be your play of the game right there. Absolute disaster for Tennessee, which now faces its largest deficit of the game.

Tie game
Alabama rolls the dice on fourth-and-goal, and it pays off as Bryce Young finds Cameron Latu for a short touchdown pass. It was a bit of a broken play, but Young came through again as the Tide cap a 75-yard scoring drive with 8:38 remaining. Can’t say enough about Bryce Young’s performance. What a game in Knoxville.

Jaylin Hyatt…
Alabama has no answer for Jaylin Hyatt, who just housed one for a 78-yard go-ahead score. My goodness. He’s got 5 catches for 194 yards and FOUR touchdowns. Two-point conversion is good to make it a 42-35 lead for the Vols and atone for the earlier missed PAT. My gosh. Just when it feels for a moment like Alabama has taken control, here we are with the Vols back ahead.

Here we go
Tennessee takes over deep in its own territory after a nice Alabama punt. Vols trail 35-34 and are on the wrong side of a 25-6 run. But they have a chance to end 15 years of misery against the Crimson Tide if they can put together 15 minutes of their best football. Should be a fun finish on CBS.

Tennessee struggling
Hendon Hooker, known for taking care of the football and delivering accurate passes, just overshot a wide open man and was intercepted on third down. Alabama has the football and the lead as the tone of this game has changed dramatically here in the third quarter. Hooker’s first INT since Nov. 13, 2021 against Georgia. He also threw one last year at Alabama.

Epic rally
Since being down 28-10, Alabama has outscored Tennessee 25-6 with points on five straight drives. The missed PAT looms large for the Vols at the moment, as does that defensive pass interference call in the end zone. Tennessee had multiple chances to bring Young down after a series of self-inflicted Alabama errors. In the end, the Vols bailed them out. But Tennessee fans will rightly question the validity of the PI call.

Microsoft has announced that animated avatars are now available in preview for its Teams collaboration platform.
Via the Avatars app in the Microsoft Teams App Store, members of the Technical Access Program can now design up to three avatars for use during meetings, and choose from an array of reaction gestures.
So-called Mesh avatars were first announced for Microsoft Teams in a blog post (opens in new tab) by John Roach, the company’s CTO of digital advisory services, back in November 2021.
Mesh avatars in the workplace
Mesh avatars allow for greater freedom of expression in a hybrid working environment, with users able to customize physical attributes, accessories, and other aspects of themselves.
Microsoft’s release of the feature at its Ignite event reiterates its commitment to blurring the line between video conferencing software and metaverses, which some business leaders believe are the next big development in collaboration tools following the shift to hybrid working.
These spaces are designed around mesh avatars interacting inside a virtual space equipped with the tools that teams need to collaborate, such as whiteboards, document storage, and video conferencing software.
If Microsoft continues to develop metaverse-adjacent features for the Teams platform, it could manage to scupper Meta’s plans for the sector with its own Horizon Workrooms metaverse.
Horizon Workrooms could end up being seen as a less convenient offering when up against Teams, a video conferencing app that’s already in use by many organizations and benefits from Microsoft 365 integration.
Until then, organizations looking to try out the new mesh avatars but without access to the private preview build can sign up for updates on the Teams website (opens in new tab).

The Only Issue With Samsungs New Phone News.com.au
The Only Issue With Samsung’s New Phone – News.com.au https://collincountynewsonline.com/the-only-issue-with-samsungs-new-phone-news-com-au/
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 is a real head turner. It’s an Android smartphone that literally folds in half, like a book, which makes it one of the most unique phones on the market. And although you may not notice many major design changes on this year’s iteration, the Fold4 is certainly one of the best folding phones yet.
Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 unboxing
The recently released Samsung Z Galaxy Fold4 comes in three colours – Grey/Green, Phantom Black and Beige. All three have gorgeous, glossy metal edges, and a matte glass back, giving off a premium look whilst offering up a durable form factor. It even has IPX8 water resistance, which means it can survive submersion in up to 1.5m of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. I went with the Beige colour. All that was in the box besides the phone was a USB-C to USB-C charging cable and some documentation.
Favourite improved features
First and foremost this phone has two displays. A 6.2 inch front screen, which on this iteration has been slightly widened and has seriously improved the usability. And there’s the large 7.6 inch main screen that unfolds, offering up a tablet-style user experience. To be able to jump between these screens for different use cases is what makes this phone so useful.
This also means that multi-tasking on this phone is awesome. When holding the phone like a book, I love using applications in a split view which means I could have my web browser open on one side of the screen, my notes open on the other, even whilst sending a text message. When the phone is half closed, you could also have it sitting at a 90 degree angle on a table, so it holds itself up, to sit back and take a video call.
Something I love about this phone is that it also offers up S Pen compatibility (though you have to buy an S Pen separately). So if you were a fan of the Samsung Galaxy Note phones in the past you can expect the same functionally (or that of a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra) but with the additional ability to convert your workspace into a tablet form factor.
Samsung Galaxy ZFold 4 cameras
The cameras are seriously improved on the Fold4. The previous generation sported 12MP rear cameras. Now the phone is on par with the camera quality of the phones like the Samsung Galaxy S22, offering up a 12MP Ultra wide, a 50MP Wide Angle and a 10MP Telephoto camera with a 3x Optical Zoom.
These new back cameras immediately produce high quality snaps with excellent saturation, better depth of field and better sharpness. The video quality is also extremely impressive.
Conversely, the selfie cameras could still use a couple of tweaks. The front 10MP cover camera (as seen on the phone when closed) does a good job with selfies, however, the 4MP Under Display Camera leaves a lot to be desired.
But I must note, it’s literally under placed the internal flexible screen’s display, which is arguably a bonus. At the end of the day, it’s my least used camera lens on this phone anyway, but if needed, gets the job done.
Is the Samsung Galaxy Fold4 worth it?
Due to the more efficient chip in the Fold4 the battery life has improved. It easily lasts a full day of heavy use and sometimes longer. And sure, the phone’s a little bit thick, it’s kind of like having two phones in your pocket stacked on top of one another. However, you’d be surprised that it doesn’t feel a lot heavier than a typical smartphone. In fact it’s only around 30g heavier than a Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
Fold4 price
My only real drawback with this phone is that it’s seriously pricey, starting at a whopping $2499. However, I know a lot of people make the switch to the Fold4 as it removes the need to carry around a tablet or laptop in addition to their mobile phone. And if you’re someone who thrives when using a tablet, stylus, or a small display with multi-tasking capabilities, then this all-in-one phone could be perfect for you.

PayPal says policy to punish users for misinformation was ‘in error’
PayPal’s Acceptable Use Policy was set to change in early November to include a $2,500 fine for any platform users that promote, post, send or publicize so-called “misinformation.” PayPal has since claimed that the policy provision was added in error. “PayPal is not fining people for misinformation and this language was never intended to be inserted in our policy,” said PayPal. The fiasco has reignited concerns about centralized platforms among crypto users who view self-custody as an important pillar of self-sovereignty and financial inclusion.

BTC price hits 3-week lows on US CPI as Bitcoin liquidates $57M
For most of the week, Bitcoin traded sideways, slightly favoring the downside, according to Cointelegraph’s BTC price index. The asset sustained a fair bit of price volatility on Oct. 13, however, in line with the release of September’s U.S. inflation data. Bitcoin’s price dropped down near $18,200 following the news but subsequently rebounded above $19,000.
In an Oct. 13 post, pseudonymous Twitter user il Capo of Crypto tweeted about the possibility of Bitcoin’s drop being a bear trap, noting a potential subsequent rally to $21,000, followed by a stark drop.

US Treasury’s OFAC and FinCEN announce $29M in enforcement actions against Bittrex
Crypto exchange Bittrex faces charges from two different United States regulators: the Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) and the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN). The regulatory authorities have essentially alleged that Bittrex did not conduct proper due diligence on its customers and transactions between 2014 and 2018, which allowed users from sanctioned regions to use the platform. Bittrex confirmed it would settle with OFAC for around $24 million, which may also be applied as a credit toward its $29 million settlement owed to FinCEN. Looking to move forward from the situation, Bittrex stated that it has been up to date with expected standards since 2018.

The project’s roadmap projected six months of development, although the media outlet has since claimed the project was a “6-week experiment,” according to an announcement from the Vault by CNN Twitter account. NFT buyers will get a 20% reimbursement of the price they paid to mint their NFTs, according to a CNN staffer on Discord.

Haiti Crisis Merits Intervention Draft U.S. Proposal For U.N. Says The Washington Post
Haiti Crisis Merits Intervention, Draft U.S. Proposal For U.N. Says – The Washington Post https://collincountynewsonline.com/haiti-crisis-merits-intervention-draft-u-s-proposal-for-u-n-says-the-washington-post/
The United States has drafted a United Nations Security Council resolution encouraging “the immediate deployment of a multinational rapid action force” to Haiti in response to the rapidly deteriorating security and humanitarian situation there, according to a copy of the resolution obtained by The Washington Post.
The drafting of the resolution follows a push by U.N. Secretary General António Guterres for the creation of an international force to bolster the Haitian National Police as powerful armed gangs destabilize the country, disrupting the supply of fuel and electricity to the impoverished Caribbean nation.
The resolution is the first sign the Biden administration may be willing to participate in a Haiti mission that has a military component. U.S. officials have been noncommittal when asked about requests to send U.S. forces to lessen the violence and misrule that has led to a shortage of clean drinking water and threatens to worsen a cholera outbreak.
The resolution does not identify specific countries that would participate in the rapid reaction force, nor does it spell out what roles those nations would play.
Neither the White House nor the State Department immediately responded to requests for comment about the draft resolution, which was first reported by the McClatchy news organization. A spokesperson for the Haitian government did not immediately respond to a request for comment either.
A Pentagon spokesman, Brig. Gen. Patrick Ryder, declined to comment.
A person familiar with discussions underway within the U.S. government, speaking on the condition of anonymity because the matter is considered sensitive, said that any American military personnel involved in a Haiti mission would likely provide logistical support only. This person said they were unaware of any plans to put U.S. “boots on the ground.”
The United States has long been reluctant to deploy military forces in Haiti. On Wednesday, Secretary of State Antony Blinken said the United States would accelerate the provision of humanitarian aid to Haiti, and “increase and deploy” security assistance for the country’s national police “in coming days.” He did not specify what that could entail, saying only that the aim was to “strengthen their capacity to counter gangs and reestablish a stable security environment under the rule of law.”
In last week’s proposal, Guterres recommended that countries send a rapid-response force that would be followed by a mission led by the United Nations. In the draft resolution reviewed by The Post, which a diplomat said was up-to-date as of Friday, the United States is “encouraging the immediate deployment of a multinational rapid action force to support the [Haitian National Police], as recommended in the Secretary General’s letter.”
It is unclear the degree to which other members of the U.N. Security Council support such a move, if China or Russia would veto the proposal, or if the current draft may change substantially before being proposed by the United States as soon as Monday.
The resolution also imposes an arms embargo, asset freeze and travel ban on criminal elements in Haiti. It singles out Haitian gang leader Jimmy Cherizier, who is known as Barbecue, as someone who has “engaged in acts that threaten the peace, security, and stability of Haiti and has planned, directed, or committed acts that constitute serious human rights abuses.”
Last month, Cherizier, who leads the group G9 Family and Allies, blocked access to Varreux Terminal in Port-au-Prince, the capital. The port is responsible for about 70 percent of the fuel distributed in the country.
Cherizier is seeking a change in the leadership of the country, governed since last year by Prime Minister Ariel Henry, who assumed power after the assassination of President Jovenel Moïse. Moïse’s killing remains unsolved.
The blockade has exacerbated a dire economic and social situation in Haiti. Hospitals are running out of fuel in the middle of a resurgence of cholera early this month. Banks are open three days a week, as opposed to six normally. At least one bank branch is scheduled to close next week due to fuel scarcity.
According to the World Food Program, 4.7 million people in Haiti face varying degrees of hunger, with an estimated 19,000 experiencing what the organization considers catastrophic levels.
Port-au-Prince is increasingly becoming an isolated island with gangs, often tied to the political and economic class, blocking the main roads, all but eliminating connection to the north and the south of the country. Their grip renders it extremely difficult for humanitarian assistance to reach those in needs.
Outgunned by the gangs, the Haitian National Police has lost control of the situation. Local media reported that in recent days a gang seized an armored vehicle and stole the equipment inside.
On Saturday, a first batch of security equipment ordered from Canada arrived in Haiti. The shipment includes armored vehicles intended to help police fight back against the gangs.

Whistleblower Will Wilkerson Reveals The Turmoil Inside Trumps Truth Social The Washington Post
Whistleblower Will Wilkerson Reveals The Turmoil Inside Trump’s Truth Social – The Washington Post https://collincountynewsonline.com/whistleblower-will-wilkerson-reveals-the-turmoil-inside-trumps-truth-social-the-washington-post/
Will Wilkerson, then an executive at former president Donald Trump’s start-up Trump Media & Technology Group, was at a Fort Lauderdale, Fla., coffee shop with company co-founder Andy Litinsky last October when Trump called Litinsky with a question: Would he give up some of his shares to Trump’s wife, Melania?
Trump Media, the owner of the fledgling social network Truth Social, had just been boosted by a huge merger agreement and a flood of investment that had made the stake worth millions of dollars. Trump had already been given 90 percent of the company’s shares in exchange for the use of his name and some minor involvement, leaving everyone else to split the rest.
Litinsky tried to brush it off, telling Trump “the gift would have meant a huge tax bill he couldn’t pay,” Wilkerson said in an interview. “Trump didn’t care. He said, ‘Do whatever you need to do.’ ”
Five months later, Litinsky, who first met Trump in 2004 as a contestant on the TV show “The Apprentice,” was abruptly removed from the company’s board. Wilkerson said he believes it was payback for his refusal to turn over a small fortune to the former president’s wife. Litinsky thought so, too, according to an email Wilkerson and his attorneys shared with The Washington Post and the Securities and Exchange Commission. In that email, Litinsky complained that Trump was “retaliating against me” by threatening to “ ‘blow up the company’ if his demands are not met.”
Litinsky did not respond to emails and phone messages. It is unknown whether he still retains his shares.
The email — one of hundreds of previously unreported company messages, documents, photos and audio recordings that Wilkerson has provided to the SEC in connection with a whistleblower submission — reveals a stunning portrait of the animosity that has built up inside Trump Media since its high-profile debut last year.
Promoted as the centerpiece of Trump’s post-presidential business ambitions, the company had marketed itself as a budding media empire, with enterprises planned in social media, video streaming, live events and online payments — a powerful rival not just to Twitter but Disney, Google and Amazon.
But inside the company, Wilkerson said, those plans gave way to bitter infighting, technical failures and a chaotic jockeying for power among Trump allies that undermined its potential and left some employees crying at their desks.
Wilkerson, who was fired from his job Thursday as a senior vice president of operations at the company after he spoke to The Post, filed the whistleblower complaint with the SEC in August. The complaint, drafted by Wilkerson’s attorneys, alleges that the company’s bid to raise money via an investment vehicle known as a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, relied on “fraudulent misrepresentations … in violation of federal securities laws.”
The SEC, a federal watchdog agency, allows members of the public to submit tips, complaints and referrals about suspected financial wrongdoing via a document the agency calls a Form TCR. Whistleblowers can be granted confidentiality protections and, in some cases, financial awards. Litinsky did not join in the complaint.
Wilkerson is cooperating with investigations into Trump Media by the SEC and federal prosecutors from the Southern District of New York, said his attorneys, Phil Brewster, Patrick Mincey and Stephen Bell. Among the materials he filed with the SEC’s whistleblower office is a detailed, day-to-day computer log compiled by company co-founder Wes Moss, Litinsky and Wilkerson about their daily company-related activities.
He also provided to The Post a copy of that log as well as numerous other memos, photographs and videos that chronicled the creation of Trump Media. All of the materials Wilkerson shared with The Post were previously provided to government investigators, his attorneys said.
The SEC and the SDNY declined to comment.
In an SEC filing in December, Digital World acknowledged that the SEC was investigating and had sought documents related to the merger with Trump Media. In another filing in June, Digital World said it had become aware that a federal grand jury in the Southern District of New York had issued subpoenas to its board members seeking documents related to its initial public offering filings and “communications with or about multiple individuals.” The investigations, the company said, could “impede or prevent” the merger.
Wilkerson said he was still working for the company on Oct. 6 when his SEC complaint was first reported by the Miami Herald. A Trump Media attorney sent Wilkerson a letter that night suspending him for what the lawyer said was a “blatant violation” of his nondisclosure agreement.
After interviewing Wilkerson alongside his attorneys, The Post on Wednesday sent a detailed list of claims and questions raised by Wilkerson’s allegations to representatives for Trump, Trump Media and the Trump Organization, Trump’s long-running family business.
Only Trump Media responded, saying in a statement that Trump, as company chairman, had hired former congressman Devin Nunes (R-Calif.) as CEO to “create a culture of compliance and build a world-class team to lead Truth Social.” The company said it was already a success, having launched on the Apple and Google app stores, “executed multiple feature updates” and attracted millions of users. “Ignoring these achievements, The Washington Post sent us an inquiry rife with knowingly false and defamatory statements and other concocted psychodramas.” The statement did not directly address any of Wilkerson’s claims.
Trump Media fired Wilkerson on Thursday, citing his “unauthorized disclosures” to The Post. Brewster, his attorney, called the termination “patent retaliation against an SEC whistleblower of the worst kind.”
Digital World Acquisition, the SPAC that is pushing to take Trump Media public, has asked shareholders to give the company more time to finalize the merger, which would unlock hundreds of millions of dollars for Trump Media but is effectively frozen pending the outcomes of the federal investigations. Digital World and its chief executive, Patrick Orlando, did not respond to requests for comment.
The revelations to the SEC from Wilkerson, the most prominent company official to speak publicly about its operations, come at a turbulent time for Trump Media’s business. Investors, discouraged by the halted merger, have sent the SPAC’s share price plunging from a high of $175 to less than $18 on Friday. Roughly 4 million users follow Trump on the company’s sole product, Truth Social — far below his Twitter peak of 88 million. The company has pledged to investors it would surpass 50 million total users by 2024.
In past public statements, Nunes, Orlando and Trump have argued that Trump Media will ultimately prove to be a successful business. But Wilkerson said he expects its internal problems could lead the company to fall apart.
“We weren’t trying to be Trump Org 2.0,” he said. “We always saw Trump as the rocket fuel to send this thing to space. I wanted this to succeed more than anything. … But these are glaring issues, and they’re threatening me now for calling them out. I couldn’t stay quiet anymore.”
Wilkerson, 38, isn’t a traditional Trump critic.
When Litinsky and Moss, another former “Apprentice” contestant, first started discussing the idea of a multipronged Trump media business after Trump’s November 2020 election loss, the men had asked for his help developing the business, Wilkerson said. A former executive producer for Litinsky’s conservative radio show, Wilkerson was excited about monetizing the following of a person he considered a master marketer with 40 years as a political and household name.
Wilkerson shared a photo from that time of the men sketching the original concept on a whiteboard, titled “Trump’s New Media Empire,” that would ultimately compose the company’s public pitch, including new business lines (“Trump Digital Subscription,” “Trump Documentaries”) and a chain of “Trump technologies,” including in servers and online payments.
After Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, and Trump was banned from major social networks, the men drew up plans for a tech platform that would be “resilient to cancel culture and the impact of bias against the right,” according to the daily log Wilkerson shared with The Post and the SEC.
To meet with Trump, the men sought help from another “Apprentice” contestant, Bradford Cohen, a Florida criminal-defense attorney who represented two rappers, Lil Wayne and Kodak Black, to whom Trump had granted clemency on his final day in the White House.
In late January, three weeks after the riot, Cohen, Litinsky and Moss met with Trump at Mar-a-Lago, his opulent home and club in Palm Beach, Fla., to discuss the idea. Over cheeseburgers, Diet Cokes and ice cream, the men offered to build Trump a media company that he would own 90 percent of without putting in any of his own money, Wilkerson said. He was interested, and Trump Media was born. Cohen and Moss did not respond to requests for comment.
Raising money, however, proved to be a major challenge. The investment bankers they called rejected them because of fears over Trump’s post-election behavior, Wilkerson said. So they started cold-calling SPACs. Known as “blank-check companies,” SPACs sell shares to investors before merging with a private company, allowing the combined business to make money on the stock market without abiding by the traditional transparency requirements of a public listing.
They ultimately found a willing partner in Orlando, a financier in Miami who had recently launched a SPAC, Benessere Capital Acquisition, with $100 million in its c...

Destination Florida: How Tourism In The Sunshine State Is Weathering The Storm Irish Examiner
Destination Florida: How Tourism In The Sunshine State Is Weathering The Storm – Irish Examiner https://collincountynewsonline.com/destination-florida-how-tourism-in-the-sunshine-state-is-weathering-the-storm-irish-examiner/
Last month, I attended the Brand USA summit, a lively meetup in Frankfurt where tourist board officials from across America and its territories met European travel journalists to promote their cities and region.
A number of CEOs from across Florida crossed my networking path and they were proud to showboat their region’s areas from eco-tourism in Fort Myers, electric boat tours in Tampa to (this is Florida…) ziplining over gators in Kissimmee. Yet, all the while we were networking, news was reaching the podiums of the devastating impact of Hurricane Ian back home.
Two weeks on from the devastating storm, the cost on tourism is being counted (at billions) with some resorts having been virtually wiped out by the impact. But in true Floridian spirit, the clean-up is underway, hotels (and Disneyland) are reopening… and the message from many cities is that Florida is back open for business.
“We have some lingering flooding in some of the residential and non-tourist areas but all resorts, hotels and vacation rentals are opened and fully operational,” says DT Minich, CEO of Experience Kissimmee the hugely popular tourism town in central Florida. “All of the theme parks are fully reopened and most of the other attractions as well,” he added. Mr Minich also highlighted that consumer confidence remains for the state which welcomes over 100m visitors per year.
“Long haul, business is looking strong for the holiday season,” he added, “and we also have healthy bookings for the first through third quarter of 2023. As air service continues to return and expand from our overseas markets, we are seeing that added capacity book fast. There is still a lot of pent-up demand for the US, Florida, and Kissimmee.”
Back in Ireland, Florida specialist Tour America is still seeing strong demand for the state. “Florida is one of our top destinations in the USA and we continue to receive lots of enquiries for 2022/2023 and beyond,” CEO of Tour America Mary McKenna told me this week. “In fact, when we looked at our booking data for 2023, we found that Orlando is coming out on top as the number-one US destination our customers are booking”.
Theme parks are proving the top type of holiday for Tour America clients for 2023 with Florida appealing to all different types of holidaymakers according to McKenna. “Families love the beautiful beaches and famous theme parks, whilst young explorers are keen to hop in a rental and cruise down the Florida Keys. It also attracts a huge number of golfers each year, since it boasts almost 1,100 courses, located all over the state.
“And of course, we can’t forget the weather. Irish holidaymakers love being able to escape the cold weather and head to sunnier shores, which makes Florida the perfect destination as late winter and early spring are the ideal times to visit this amazing destination.”
There’s value too, the operator is offering seven-night packages to Orlando from €722pps while if you fancy travelling DIY, Aer Lingus fly to both Miami and Orlando from €396 return. Hopefully this winter, tourism in the Sunshine State will continue to shine.

1. Destination Cleveland
Oh hi, Ohio! If you’re looking for an alternative US escape, then how about a trip on the latest Aer Lingus route, Cleveland, famed for its Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Lake Erie beaches. As the only direct link to the city offered by a European airline, the route will strategically offer Ohioans the opportunity to travel to Ireland and Europe via Dublin while also tempting Irish travellers to experience the gateway to the Midwest hub. Aer Lingus has just also announced the return of the airline’s Dublin to Hartford route which was suspended during the pandemic. Flights to Connecticut resume from March offering a handy option for those with interests between Boston and New York.

2. Dublin’s newest hotel
The Maldron Merrion Road
Hotel rooms in Dublin have rarely been in such short (and pricey) supply, which is why we’re very much rolling out the red carpet for the newest opening in the city. Having just launched last week, the Maldron Merrion Road is the capital’s latest four-star hotel and brings 140 rooms to its scenic location in the heart of D4. Appealing to the corporate and city break market the seven storey property offers “stunning” panoramic Dublin Bay vistas from Sandymount Strand to Howth while guests can enjoy the Maldron’s signature stylish rooms, dine at their Grain and Grill Restaurant or order a coffee to go from their Red Bean Roastery. Take advantage from hot B&B rates from €139.

3. Wendy Wu
Looking for a dream getaway to Asia? Irish operator Sunway has teamed up with the UK’s leading escorted holiday operator Wendy Wu to offer their premium, guided tours for the Irish market. Wendy Wu is known for its all-inclusive offerings with rates including everything from all food and accommodation on the ground down to visas which are sorted by their own red tape team. Expect that to be reflected in the price which puts Wendy Wu very much in the luxury market; if you fancy soaking in the cherry blossoms or scaling Mount Fuji in Japan, their classic eight-day tour to the county costs €4800 excl. flights; sunway.ie
4. Hidden Haven
Hidden Haven is luxury lodge, nestled in a stunning swathe of countryside between Gougane Barra and Glengarriff.
I’ve just been tipped off to a pretty dreamy new getaway in West Cork! The Hidden Haven is a beautifully designed and just launched luxury lodge, nestled in a stunning swathe of countryside between Gougane Barra and Glengarriff. Overlooking its own lake, the design and comfort led property features everything from organic sheets on its supersized king bed, a wood burning stove, claw toe tub bath and outdoor barbecue. If you tear yourself away from those views, pick some blueberries at the onsite organic farm. The Hidden Haven is accepting bookings for three-night minimums with rates from €250 per night.
5. Staycation deals
November typically offers some of the best hotel rates of the year and I’ve uncovered a few hotel deals this week with rates which may give you a hint of nostalgia! The Mills Inn in Ballyvourney have winter rates from €120 per night (and that doesn’t increase for weekend stays), while if you still have a Blue Book voucher knocking about, Butler House in Kilkenny are by reckoning the cheapest property in the collection with midweek rates this month from just €115!
