Vem blir Stockholms Boris Johnson?
Vem blir Stockholms Boris Johnson?
Lastbilarnas högersvängar skapar otrygghet i Stockholmstrafiken. De borgerliga politikerna behöver ta cykelsäkerheten på allvar om det ska bli ett maktskifte i Stockholms stadshus 2026. Det skriver Hannah Stutzinsky.

Get out of your car if you want to be less lonely
Get out of your car if you want to be less lonely
The research from the Social Market Foundation (SMF) think tank, based on data from the Department for Transport, found a correlation between car dependency and loneliness across all regions, most acutely seen in rural towns. It was the least impactful in cities, where people had access to more reliable transport alternatives.

Do sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and light truck vehicles (LTVs) cause more severe injuries to pedestrians and cyclists than passenger cars in the case of a crash? A systematic review and meta-analysis
Do sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and light truck vehicles (LTVs) cause more severe injuries to pedestrians and cyclists than passenger cars in the case of a crash? A systematic review and meta-analysis
Questions In the case of a road traffic crash, do sports utility vehicles (SUVs) and light truck vehicles (LTVs) cause more severe injuries to pedestrians and cyclists than passenger cars? Does any effect differ between adults and children? Design Systematic review and meta-analysis. Data sources MEDLINE, TRID and Global Index Medicus were searched up to September 2024, with no restrictions by setting or language. Inclusion criteria Eligible studies had to compare injury severity between pedestrians and/or cyclists hit by an SUV or LTV versus a passenger car. Only sources using real-world crash data were included. Main outcome measure Injury severity, defined either as ‘fatal versus non-fatal injury’ or as ‘killed or seriously injured (KSI) versus slight injury’. Results 24 studies were included in the meta-analysis. The results were similar between pedestrians and cyclists. When combining pedestrians and cyclists, the pooled odds of KSI versus slight injury if hit by an SUV/LTV versus a passenger car were higher among adults/all-age samples by 1.24 (95% CI 1.15, 1.34) and higher among children by 1.28 (95% CI 1.19, 1.37). The odds of fatal versus non-fatal injury if hit by an SUV/LTV versus a passenger car increased among adults/all-age samples by 1.44 (95% CI 1.33, 1.56) and among children by 1.82 (95% CI 1.57, 2.11; p=0.006 for heterogeneity by age). Conclusion In the case of a crash, SUVs and LTVs cause more severe injuries to pedestrians and cyclists than passenger cars. This effect is larger for fatalities than for KSIs, and the fatality effect is particularly large for children. PROSPERO registration number CRD42024597283. Färre dog i trafiken förra året - Nyheter (Ekot)
Färre dog i trafiken förra året - Nyheter (Ekot)

Parents’ Willingness and Perception of Children’s Autonomy as Predictors of Greater Independent Mobility to School
Parents’ Willingness and Perception of Children’s Autonomy as Predictors of Greater Independent Mobility to School
The present study aimed to examine the factors associated with different forms of independent mobility (IM) to school (IM one way and IM both ways) according to their parents’ opinions. To do so, several variables were evaluated: how parents assess their children’s autonomy, the difficulty they perceive for IM to school, reasons for IM/no IM to school, parents’ willingness for IM to school, frequency of children’s IM for leisure activities, children having house keys and dangers perceived in the neighborhood. Family-related socio-demographic variables were also assessed: number of children, position occupied by them in the family, family composition, living with both parents or just one, and each parent’s nationality, level of education and job status. This study examined the data collected from 1450 parents (mothers and fathers) with children studying Primary Education years 4, 5 and 6 (M age = 10.53, SD = 0.90). The results showed that 42.3% of the schoolchildren did not practice IM to school, 18.1% practiced IM one way (they went to or from school alone), and 39.5% practiced IM both way (they went to/from school alone). These findings underline the importance of parents’ willingness for IM to school, and how the balance between how they perceive their children’s autonomy and difficulty for IM is relevant for greater IM to school.

Varför cyklar personer med lägre inkomster mindre? - Trivector

How America became so car dependent
How America became so car dependent
America is a car-dominated country. It's not just because cars are awesome. Politics, lobbies, even seemingly unrelated laws have all helped make that happen.
