Sichenje's ex-boss: We wanted to keep him, but Charlton's offer was a dream come true | MozzartSportKe
Collins Sichenje's stint with Vojvodina is over, as the 22-year-old has begun a new chapter in his career at Charlton Athletic. The Addicks paid €2.2 million for the defender's move, as he became the eighth-biggest sale in the Serbian side's history. Still, in an interview with Mozzart Sport, Vojvodina boss Miroslav Tanjga revealed that the club wanted to keep Sichenje, but that the offer was too good for the player to turn down. Why Charlton Athletic fast-tracked Collins Sichenje's Ksh334 million signing“We wanted him to stay until June, and we would probably have received better offers for him as well, but what can you do when a lad from Kenya gets an offer from London? For him and his family, it was a dream come true, and he made that very clear to us during our talks."OFFICIAL: Sichenje becomes new pillar of Charlton's defence!"He no longer saw himself at Vojvodina and was focused solely on that offer from England. We can’t force anyone to stay at the club, even though the bid was financially excellent for us, we didn’t want to look at the situation purely from an economic point of view.”Clearly, Sichenje meant a lot to the team, and his stay, even for only six months, would have helped Vojvodina greatly in the title race, but alas... They will have to get used to life without the Kenyan, as he is starting to add new pages to his career story and preparing for a potential debut with Charlton tomorrow against QPR (23.00).##NAJAVA_MECA_9493296##
