The United States has reported its first outbreak of H5N9 bird flu in poultry on a duck farm in California, the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) said on Monday.
A case of influenza A (H5N1) has been confirmed in a person in the West Midlands who acquired the infection on a farm after close and prolonged contact with a large number of infected birds, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) has confirmed. The person is currently well and being treated in a high consequence infectious disease unit.
