WordPress is in trouble
I've not really kept up with the WordPress drama, but I'm aware that it's ongoing and bizarre. This blog post seems to do a reasonable job of helping catch up on what's what.

Silent Poems
Silent Poems
Not easy to describe, but lots of fun to play around with. Create art, of a sort, by typing.

Fun little guide to all sorts of "common" pages you could add to a website. I imagine most people would never discover them, but I like it as an idea.

Mozilla 2023 Annual Report: CEO pay skyrockets, while Firefox Marketshare nosedives
Mozilla 2023 Annual Report: CEO pay skyrockets, while Firefox Marketshare nosedives

The Mozilla Foundation has released their latest annual report -- covering the time up through December of 2022 (Mozilla's reporting always lags by one year) -- and something peculiar leaps out of the data:

  • The compensation of the Mozilla CEO has skyrocketed (by millions)
  • While the Mozilla revenue drops
  • And the Firefox Marketshare takes a nosedive
  • While, at first, this seems ridiculously lopsided... perhaps it actually makes sense.

Why logging out via a GET URL is a bad idea
Fun tweet from a while ago now that highlights the fun to be had by having side-effects hanging off a GET rather than a POST; from a time when it more or less still wasn't quite the issue it ended up being.

Very affordable website hosting. Might have a look at this the next time I want to spin up a low-content site or custom blog or something.

Indexing outgoing blog links
Indexing outgoing blog links
Nice idea that I might have to try myself some time: index and analyse the outgoing links from blog posts to see what it is you link to the most.

Interesting article about a newer image file format; well worth paying attention to from a web-development perspective.

Starboard
Starboard
Site that sort of provides active JavaScript notebooks, with a view to doing most/all of the work on the client side. I was sort of hoping there'd be a self-host option or something and I'm not seeing that. On the other hand it could be a good tool for tinkering with and prototyping code.
