Some folk use Emacs out of the box, and never realise just how much more it can do if you sprinkle some of the newer stuff over your configuration. This article does a good job of explaining some of those additions.

While I don't use Spacemacs myself (this isn't actually a Spacemacs issue), I'm getting this a lot on my iMac and Macbook; especially when I've woken them from sleep.
Helpful comment on configuring projectile so that it finds a project under strict control. I want to be fully in control of what appears to be a project, and this is what I needed.

Despite using it since the mid 1990s, I'd never noticed that Emacs had acquired a pretty good charting library. This blog post is a pretty good introduction to it.
