The fact that someone purchased a brand-new Lamborghini Diablo and had the willpower to only drive it a total of 14 miles over close to 20 years is pretty damn impressive. But that got us thinking. It’s kind of a double-edged sword, right? On the one hand, you’re given the opportunity to drive your decades old dream car in brand new condition. Albeit an opportunity that you’ll often have to pay very handsomely for. Then on the flip side, you have the predicament of removing the low mileage aspect that made it special by being the first to enjoy it. So, while it’s nice to see the amazing self-restraint some owners go through to preserve their cars, our feeling is save some bucks and go out and enjoy your classic the way it was meant to be. That’s just our opinion though. Not only does it have a very catchy hook of “I’m a 90’s baby in an 80’s Mercedes,” but it also points out many of the features we also love about this car. Like “Still runs good, built to last” or “Just keeps getting sweeter with age. She's classic through any decade.” But, perhaps our favorite line is when Maren says: “You can try, but the Benz is hard to beat.” That’s especially true if the car she’s singing about is anything like this Blue Green Metallic over Cream Beige leather interior example that the owner has gone to great lengths to preserve. Keep in mind this is just a question and before you yell car blasphemy, at least hear us out. Both cars came out to great fanfare, were produced by iconic British marques, one is a classic and the other no doubt will be, had a decade plus production run with only slight visual updates, had V-12’s (technically the E-Type started with a 3.8L inline six), came in both a convertible and coupe, and were the preferred method of transportation for countless athletes and celebrities of the era. Also, with the exception of the Series 1 cars, both can be had at a relatively affordable price. Just look at this example from the Netherlands and tell us it isn’t a beautiful car. For €77,500 or about $94,454 with current exchange rates you can have a 2009 Aston Martin DB9 with just about 12,500 miles. That’s a lot of car for the money considering for this model year they also upped the horsepower from 450 to 470. You don’t have to agree and we’re sure many of you won’t but we just wanted to put it out there.
