Brian Lohnes on Instagram: "October 15th, 1958 - Babylon, NY. An Air Force C123 ran out of fuel and crash landed on the Southern State Parkway. The plane was on the way to Mitchel Field on Long Island when it ran precariously low on fuel. The crew was diverting to Zahn’s Airport and came up a half mile short of the runway. When it hit the highway, the plane went under an overpass which is where things officially got bad. The 119-foot wide airplane passed through cement columns 50ft wide. The tail was ripped off, one wing was completely sheared off and the other was massively clipped. Three cars were involved in the mele and one driver was killed. The driver here was unable to stop their 1953 Pontiac and t-boned the giant aircraft in the middle of the highway. All of the crew on the plane survived. The C123 was a relatively new craft at this point having debuted in 1956. These planes would serve until 1980 in various roles including the dubious one of spraying Agent Orange in Vietnam...

In no particular order, @wspiga voted for a MB 280 SE 3.5 sedan, @autoszeitschrift voted for a Mercedes Grosser 600, @olgiata_spotting and @nahskarpa both voted for a basic black E-type, @clearlyitsnate voted for a 1963 Maserati Sebring, @mattybradz put down an Aston Martin DB5, and @adiwanam added in a Bentley Continental S-2 Mulliner. Patrick Stewart on Instagram: "I will always be very proud to have been a part of Star Trek: The Next Generation, but when we wrapped that final movie in the spring of 2002, I truly felt my time with Star Trek had run its natural course. It is, therefore, an unexpected but delightful surprise to find myself excited and invigorated to be returning to Jean-Luc Picard and to explore new dimensions within him. Seeking out new life for him, when I thought that life was over. During these past years, it has been humbling to hear stories about how The Next Generation brought people comfort, saw them through difficult periods in their lives or how the example of Jean-Luc inspired so many to follow in his footsteps, pursuing science, exploration and leadership. I feel I'm ready to return to him for the same reason – to research and experience what comforting and reforming light he might shine on these often very dark times. I look forward to working with our brilliant creative team as we end...

The Finer Points on Instagram: "I took this yesterday. Ya know, covering the flight instruments can be very powerful. Most pilots focus there even when they think they don’t. My preferred method is to use one piece of paper pegged on the attitude indicator adjustment knob. This leaves the edges bendable for peeking and supports integrated flight instruction - 90% of your attention is outside and only 10% inside. My deal is you can look whenever you want. 😊 And anyway with a view like that outside I consider it a benevolent act . . #CFI #CFIlife #learnthefinerpoints"
