Apple Maps for iOS and iPadOS 15 and macOS Monterey: The MacStories Overview https://t.co/ACStshlhz7
Here's our deep dive into everything that's changing in Maps for all Apple platforms this year. @johnvoorhees did an amazing job documenting all the big and small changes. https://t.co/peTdhdXqB7
Just another day being unable to order takeout because iOS 15 Safari’s bottom bar makes this checkout button untappable.thanks Safari for not letting me have that bruschetta 😢 pic.twitter.com/e23YTYzGM6— Federico Viticci (@viticci) July 22, 2021
In this week’s issue of @ClubMacStories Weekly, I published part 2 of my @obsdmd setup series. In this installment, I take a look at the theme I’m using, installing SF Mono on iOS, customizing the mobile quick action, and some third-party plugins I use.

Anyway, I booted up my iPadOS 14 test device and there's the old Safari with proper tabs and a separate address bar and a toolbar – it's so pretty and functional, can we please have this back? 🥺 pic.twitter.com/Nttnv7LZFg— Federico Viticci (@viticci) July 21, 2021
So you know that little multi-window button in the iPadOS 15 app switcher that tells you when an app has multiple windows open?I thought it was just an indicator. Turns out you can click it to show those multiple windows in Exposé. pic.twitter.com/ki6ZnpemCA— Federico Viticci (@viticci) July 21, 2021

Oh my, what happened to Safari in iPadOS 15 beta 3? 😬
Tabs flying around more than before, distracting animations, new tabs now open on the right, but new links don't every time.
Please, Apple, let us revert this design like on Monterey. This is bad.

I’m really enjoying the new Safari on iOS and the better reachability. The animation to see all open tabs is so slick (UI bugs notwithstanding).Have you seen you can long-press the elements in the bottom bar? Totally unintuitive & hidden but glad they’re there! pic.twitter.com/trY3zXWAQH— Alex Hay (@mralexhay) July 3, 2021
The new OCR and filesystem features of Shortcuts in iOS 15 are WILD.
I created a shortcut that:
- Extracts text from an image using OCR
- Suggests some of that text as file name
- Saves the image into a specific folder in the Files app (in my case, local storage)

Apple continues to add features to Voice Memos that would also make sense as Podcasts audio effects...🤔 This year, they've added Skip Silence, which joins Enhance Recording from iOS 14. #WWDC21 pic.twitter.com/3uP8bOfQY8— Federico Viticci (@viticci) June 8, 2021

Now these are two developer frameworks I was not expecting this year:- ShazamKit to recognize audio and music in your apps - MailKit (!) to build extensions on top of Apple Mail, but macOS-only it seems #WWDC21 pic.twitter.com/XnkGz3hFJw— Federico Viticci (@viticci) June 7, 2021

"Shortcuts is the future of automation on the Mac."
Apple will let you import Automator workflows in Shortcuts, which will also come with integration with menu bar, Spotlight, and it appears Finder and multitasking too.
This is fantastic news. Let's go Shortcuts 💪

In this week's issue of @ClubMacStories Weekly:
💻 We interviewed @jsnell about his writing setup and Markdown automations
📄 @johnvoorhees covers plain text apps that go beyond the text editor

What @Fedez has done last weekend – using his platform for positive change and defending our proposed legislation for LGBTQ+ rights – is brave and powerful. Gay and trans rights are human rights. Period.
We must pass the #DDLZan law. 🏳️⚧️🇮🇹🏳️🌈

As of today, we've exported all of our company email out of Hey for Work, and we're going back to Google...for now.As DNS is still propagating, email delivery to our MacStories addresses may be spotty for a few hours. We can't align ourselves with Hey's terrible policy. 👋 pic.twitter.com/QOkqle8xYX— Federico Viticci (@viticci) April 27, 2021
