Is Negative Energy Bringing You Down
When you think of your mind, you probably think of it as a tool that you have little-to-no control over and just kind of works on its own. There’s no telling exactly how powerful our minds are and what they’re truly capable of, but we do know one thing for certain -- they will prove to be your friend just as much as they will be your enemy and it can lead you in the right direction just as often as it guides you in the wrong direction.
We use our minds constantly and while it may be difficult to control every single thought or idea stemming from it, we can control at-large whether those thoughts are intended for personal gain or destruction -- pain or pleasure.
It’s very common for us to fall victim to the unfounded truths, distractions, and projections of what our future holds. We all want the best for ourselves, we all want to succeed, find happiness, raise a loving family, and live an overall healthier life. We daydream about it, we follow it on social media, we revolve our entire lives around these desires, yet many of us will continue to fall short.
Think of all the times you say “I can’t do that” or “I’m not good enough” or “That’s impossible.” We say it all the time, but all it does is paint a negative image that damages our self-worth and value. It teaches us to not put in the hard work and effort to become better because we’ll never be able to achieve the things we want -- no matter how badly we want them.
We’ll continue to downplay our potential, sell ourselves short, and beat ourselves down without giving ourselves a chance to prove ourselves first. We try to read a story before it’s written, not realizing that we have the power to write it. We hurt, we fail, we make errors, we worry, and we obsess.
But we don’t have to, do we?
Negative imagery has become an epidemic among individuals across the world. It’s been implanted into the minds of everyone. We see it on social media, we see it in the news, in advertising. We’re constantly painting a picture of everything that could go wrong, and then are left wondering why everything is going wrong. We leave no room for what could go right, although that is what we ultimately seek.
There’s a large disconnect here that can be fixed with a tweak of the mindset.
When you say “I can’t do this,” say “I haven’t done this yet.”
When you say “I don’t know how to do that,” say “I’m about to learn how to do that.”
When you say “I think I’m going to fail,” say “I’m confident that I will succeed.”
When you envision negativity, negativity will show itself time and time again. When you envision positivity, positivity will come to the surface. And even when positive imagery doesn’t lead to the results you wanted, continued practice can be the reason you get up and try again.
The truth is, you’re going to face failure, you’re going to make mistakes, errors, all of the above. But those mishaps won’t define who you are, so don’t be scared to screw up -- learn from it. Don’t be scared to fail -- be motivated by it.
It’s okay to prepare for the worst, but always expect the best. Always put your best foot forward and put yourself in the best opportunity to succeed. Better yet, imagine yourself succeeding. When you can envision it, it’ll be much easier to formulate a plan and necessary steps to get there. You’ll find yourself more on top of things, more proud of yourself, and most importantly more happy with your present and what the future holds.
Stop living out your nightmare, your dreams are waiting and all you have to do is reach out and grab them.
