I’m an ADHD coach, and a lot of my clients struggle with this very issue of wanting to do “all the things”, but not knowing where to start. The first thing to know is that the tool you choose will never be the solution to your issue. It always starts with identifying your own priorities.
Here’s a few questions for you to help frame your priorities.
What is MOST important to you right now? Your health? Finances? Relationships? Once you can identify the most important thing, it will help you identify your daily non-negotiables. I suggest having no more than a couple of those.
Another question to consider is - what are you optimizing for? Is it speed and efficiency in your day, or feeling calm and at peace in your mind and body? This will help guide your approach to your non-negotiables and hopefully also help you prioritize your task list.
Once you know what’s most important on your list, then build a daily routine that makes room for it. Accept that not everything is going to be on that list, but rest assured that the most important things are.
Then consider creating a weekly rhythm where each day has a theme. On mondays after work, maybe you focus on computer projects. On tuesdays, maybe it’s a weekly standing date with friends, wednesdays are for sport, and so on.
Hope that helps.
