Frankie, a young Caribbean Flamingo hatched at Paradise Park in Cornwall, escaped captivity on November 2, 2025, and flew approximately 120–130 miles across the English Channel to northern France. Despite having clipped feathers, reportedly making flight difficult, she managed the journey successfully. Keepers have stated it is unlikely she will be returned to the UK due to logistical and health regulations, and she is now being monitored by local citizen science members in France.
