But, like all of us, those patients are free to choose what they eat. The sugar tax has not stopped people eating junk food, though the effects are well known and cheaper, healthy food is available. Likewise walking, cycling and jogging are free, but despite many articles explaining why movement is good for you many choose not to exercise. It’s too easy to blame government for this. Obesity is something the majority of us can avoid if we make the decisions to do so — and those choices are ours to make. Suzanne Stringer, Aberfeldy, Perthshire Terrible battle As someone who

CJ Stroud faked a handoff and bootlegged out to the right. He had a run-pass option and, when both Wisconsin defenders crashed, he tossed it over the top to Stover who was running free. Stover has four catches for 51 yards in the first quarter and has become another big weapon in what is one of the most dangerous offenses in the country. Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Mertz makes a mistake 8:54 Q1: No. 3 Ohio State 14, Wisconsin 0 Teams can’t make mistakes against the Buckeyes, and Wisconsin QB Graham Mertz made a bad one on Wisconsin’s first drive. He threw WAY behind his receiver and was picked off by safety Tanner McCalister who brought it back to the Wisconsin 16-yard line. CJ Stroud hit Cade Stover on a designed rollout throwback across the field for a 13-yard score two plays later.  Pinned Pinned Pinned Stroud coming out HOT 12:13 Q1: No. 3 Ohio State 7, Wisconsin 0 Ohio State quarterback CJ Stroud came out on fire against the Badgers. He completed all three of his passes for 73 yards on the opening drive, with all three receivers finding open space on the six-play drive. Miyan Williams scored from one yard out to cash it in. That’s the last thing that Wisconsin needed to see. If Ohio State makes this a shootout, Wisconsin won’t be able to keep up. Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Prediction time I’ll take the Buckeyes to win 31-21 in this one. I do think that Wisconsin will have some success against this Ohio State defensive front, and I don’t think that Ohio State’s offense will take too many risks against an extremely well-coached Badgers team. Pinned Pinned Pinned Pinned Injury updates … Looks like two key Buckeyes won’t suit up tonight vs. the Badgers. Quarterback CJ Stroud has been working without Jaxon Smith-Njigba since Week 1, so he’s comfortable with the situation. However, Brown’s absence after getting injured last week vs. Toledo is concerning. Wisconsin works off play action quite a bit, and Brown was likely going to be on an island.   Pinned

Why Epic Games Partnered With This Metaverse Startup – Bitcoinist https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/why-epic-games-partnered-with-this-metaverse-startup-bitcoinist/ Per a report from TechEu, a Metaverse startup called Hadean has partnered with gaming giant Epic Games. The London-based company has recently completed a Series A funding round, and it’s ready to expand its operations. Hadean was successfully able to raise $30 million in its round, led by Molten Ventures, and additional support from 2050 Capital, Alumni Ventures, Aster Capital, Entrepreneur First, and others. Epic Games contributed to the round. Epic Games And Hadean Will Push Metaverse To The Next Level In addition, the company will work with Hadean to aid them in the process of growing their metaverse capabilities, with scalable and interoperable features. The startup was founded over 7 years ago with the objective of revolutionizing distributed computing, and the metaverse. The funds obtained via its Series A will be used to create and provide developers and creators with the tools to customize and design unique projects and experiences. Craig Beddis, Hadean Co-Founder and CEO said the following on their objectives and their recent Series A round: We want to bridge physical and virtual worlds – to help us make better decisions and ultimately improve the quality of our lives in the physical world. According to Beddis, the virtual world is limited with low scalability and security. Epic Games, Microsoft, and Meta (formerly Facebook) are investing billions in the Metaverse. Big tech seems to believe that people will conduct most of their daily activities in the virtual world. The Hadean Co-Founder agrees with this idea, but believes companies should provide developers with the tools to create their own projects: The true success and mass adoption of the metaverse will rely on the ease by which creators will be able to build their own experiences at scale, leveraging open and robust metaverse-as-a-service technologies. ETH’s price trends to the downside on the 4-hour chart. Source: ETHUSDT Tradingview Epic Games Invests Billions In The Metaverse Epic Games has been highly supported by digital assets, innovation, and new trends. The company behind hits like Fortnite has raised over $2 billion to “advance” its vision of the Metaverse. The video game company raised the funds via a special round with participation from Sony Group Corporation, and KIRKBI, the company that created the LEGO Group. The companies joined efforts to boost the digital sector, create new forms of social entertainment, and a bridge between the physical and digital worlds. The recent partnership with Hadean and Epic seems to be another step in that direction. At the time of the $2 billion funding announcement, the CEO and Founder of Epic Games, Tim Sweeney said: This investment will accelerate our work to build the metaverse and create spaces where players can have fun with friends, brands can build creative and immersive experiences and creators can build a community and thrive.

10 Best Stealth Games DualShockers
10 Best Stealth Games DualShockers
10 Best Stealth Games – DualShockers https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/10-best-stealth-games-dualshockers/ Stealth games are not some of the most readily available modern-day titles, as the genre has kind of died down over the years. They require a little more thinking than the typical FPS game, as trying to take on situations without putting much thought will–a lot of the time–get players overran and killed. Stealth games are like giant puzzles that concern themselves with figuring out how to navigate around or quietly kill enemies. Some of the games that will be mentioned allow players to take on a more hands-on approach to combat, but, for the most part, these games rely mainly on players figuring out intricate ways to deal with their opponents. 10 Styx: Shards of Darkness Styx: Shards of Darkness took the original, which was a subpar game, and made it a better stealth game. The game has many flaws, but it still gives players exactly what they would want from a stealth game. There are plenty of objects and tools to help players take out enemies, and Styx’s skill tree is improved upon heavily. The game has many problems in terms of its actual combat and the way that combat takes place around the player. The game’s environments and stealth mechanics are great for those that love strictly stealth games and can put up with some hiccups here and there. 9 Volume Volume is a top-down game that is visually stunning and has a strong, enjoyable story about broadcasting virtual heists to put it all together. It feels like a Pac-Man game, but instead of collecting yellow orbs, players must collect diamonds. There are also various types of enemies that must be traversed around differently. The gameplay is key as players can use the surrounding environment as well as the few tools they are equipped with to distract guards and get past them. It’s a lot simpler than many games on this list but filled with heist-like adrenaline. 8 Batman: Arkham Asylum Out of all the Batman games, Batman: Arkham Asylum feels like it focuses on stealth the deepest as there are a lot of areas that absolutely require that gameplay mechanism. If stealth is not used, then brute force will get Batman killed. There are also parts of the game that are heavily focused on combat, but it’s still a stealth game that’s meant to make the player feel like the real Batman. Players will also unlock different gadgets along their journey that add to the diversity of combat and stealth mechanics the game places forward. 7 Dishonored Dishonored made a stealth game that felt heavily inspired by the BioShock franchise and Thief series. Each of the levels feels like a large maze that needs to be stealthily traversed. The game does offer combat options, but a lot of the time, players will have to combine these with stealth elements to take out enemies. The game allows players to complete its entirety without ever killing anyone. Going with an entire pacifist run adds more challenge and thought to the game. However, it’s important to note that killing more people (using stealth) causes some interesting end-game events. 6 Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory is probably the best Splinter Cell game in the series. It takes on a true stealth approach. This is not a game that offers the choice of stealth, but that makes the player have to use stealth or risk failing the mission they’re on. There are many different ways for players to view the world they travel in, with night vision, infrared, and emf visions. These different modes allow for different stealth options. This game might not be as large in scale as some other games, but it does everything right in terms of providing a nice variety of stealth options for completing them. 5 Sly Cooper: Thieves In Time Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time continues the story of one of the best platforming stealth series available. The game’s iconic characters emerge to drive the story forward in an interesting tale that surrounds itself with different eras that players must explore. The game allows players to play as all of Sly’s ancestors that he comes across. Each of Sly’s ancestors has different mechanics that specifically pertain to them, like being able to leap to faraway areas and, in a not-so-stealthy approach, pull out a gun to shoot at enemies. It’s a game with a comic-like style and entertaining variety. 4 Deus Ex: Human Revolution Deus Ex: Human Revolution feels like a giant cyberpunk spy mission. The game heavily focuses on stealth and is one of the harder titles on the list. That’s because a lot of the levels in the game require players to act perfectly in each moment, as making mistakes will be heavily punished with quick deaths. The game has a lot of upgrades that augment a player’s main character’s cybernetic body and allow for new stealth options like the ability to breathe in poisonous gas or sprint silently. The game encompasses everything it needs to live up to the definition of “Cool.” 3 Outlast Outlast is a stealth game unlike any other in this list because of its horror gameplay, which provides players with zero ways to fight back against enemies. The game focuses on players needing to sneak around areas while being hunted down by different types of enemies and having to avoid them. Each of the enemies in the game feels like a nightmarish antagonist as players will spend quite a bit of time navigating around them. Outlast is not for those who are squeamish, as the game is meant to horrify players while providing interesting stealth mechanics. 2 Hitman 3 Hitman 3’s gameplay is very similar to that of its predecessors, but the maps feel a lot larger and more alive in how players are able to take on targets. Each area feels like something that players would see in a big-budget film, but players can experience their own espionage-style hits in these large gorgeous settings. Each mission feels like it has more and more to add to the game’s mechanics, and all of this comes together in the game’s final mission. The last mission is a lot tighter in scope but still offers several distinct options to complete it. Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain has some of the best stealth mechanics ever added to video games. The game feels as though it is intelligently trying to outsmart the player as it will make situations more difficult by strategically place enemies after learning a player’s preferred play style. It’s a game with an open world that allows players to roam through it freely and form their own adventures. It also lets them take on missions in the best ways they see fit, with many players’ choice of completing missions being specific to themselves. There is a lot of attention to detail, as even the weather impacts the flow of combat in the game. NEXT: Most Successful Indie Games

Eden Prairie-Based Crypto Company Files For Bankruptcy – Bring Me The News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/eden-prairie-based-crypto-company-files-for-bankruptcy-bring-me-the-news/ Eden Prairie-based Compute North, which operates crypto-mining centers, has filed for bankruptcy. The company filed for chapter 11 bankruptcy in Texas Thursday, Bloomberg reports. It cited the increasing cost of electricity and the lag time between building the centers and revenue generation. Compute North owed as much as $500 to more than 200 creditors, according to Yahoo! Finance. In addition to the bankruptcy filing, the company’s CEO Dave Perrill also stepped down. Along with its Eden Prairie headquarters, Compute North also operates facilities in Texas, Nebraska and South Dakota. In a filing, Compute North Chief Financial Officer Harold Coulby said the company had taken out up to $300 million from one lender to finance its Texas and Nebraska projects, according to CoinDesk. “Facing the threat of ongoing degradation to the value of its business, including the potential termination of contracts that Compute North may be able to assign in a sale transaction, Compute North had no choice but to commence these Chapter 11 Cases in order to preserve and maximize the value of its assets,” he wrote. Bitcoin, the most widely used cryptocurrency, has also become increasingly difficult to mine, CoinDesk reported earlier this month. The cryptocurrency’s mining difficulty recently reached an all-time high.

KCNA via REUTERS Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com SEOUL, Sept 25 (Reuters) – North Korea fired a ballistic missile towards the sea off its east coast on Sunday, ahead of planned military drills by South Korean and U.S. forces involving an aircraft carrier and a visit to the region by U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris. South Korea’s military said it was a single, short-range ballistic missile fired from near the Taechon area of North Pyongyan Province just before 7 a.m. Japan’s Defence Minister Yasukazu Hamada said Japan estimated it reached maximum altitude at 50 km and may have flown on an irregular trajectory. Hamada said it fell outside Japan’s exclusive economic zone and there were no reports of problems with shipping or air traffic. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Many of the short-range missiles tested by North Korea in recent years have been designed to evade missile defences by maneuvering during flight and flying on a lower, “depressed” trajectory, experts have said. “If you include launches of cruise missiles this is the nineteenth launch, which is an unprecedented pace. North Korea’s action represent a threat to the peace and security of our country, the region and the international community and to do this as the Ukraine invasion unfolds is unforgivable,” Hamada said, adding that Japan had delivered a protest through North Korea’s embassy in Beijing. The launch comes after the arrival of the nuclear-powered American aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan in South Korea to participate in joint drills with South Korean forces, and ahead of a planned visit to Seoul this week by Harris. read more It was the first time the North carried out such a launch after firing eight short-range ballistic missiles in one day in early June, which led the United States to call for more sanctions for violating U.N. Security Council resolutions. North Korea rejects U.N. resolutions as an infringement of its sovereign right to self defence and space exploration, and has criticized previous joint drills by the United States and South Korea as proof of their hostile policies. The drills have also been criticised by Russia and China, which have called on all sides not to take steps that raise tensions in the region, and have called for an easing of sanctions. After North Korea conducted an unprecedented number of missile tests earlier this year, including its intercontinental ballistic missiles for the first time since 2017, the United States and South Korea said they would boost joint drills and military displays of power to deter Pyongyang. “Defense exercises are not going to prevent North Korean missile tests,” said Leif-Eric Easley, an international affairs professor at Ewha University in Seoul. But U.S.-South Korea security cooperation helps to deter a North Korean attack and counter Pyongyang’s coercion, and the allies should not let provocations stop them from conducting military training and exchanges needed to maintain the alliance, he added. South Korea’s Yonhap news agency reported on Saturday North Korea may also be preparing to test a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM), citing the South’s military. read more Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Reporting by Jihoon Lee; Additional reporting by Josh Smith and Tim Kelly; Editing by Daniel Wallis Our Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.

With Landfill Closure On Horizon ACUA Explores Waste-Conversion Technology Press Of Atlantic City
With Landfill Closure On Horizon ACUA Explores Waste-Conversion Technology Press Of Atlantic City
With Landfill Closure On Horizon, ACUA Explores Waste-Conversion Technology – Press Of Atlantic City https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/with-landfill-closure-on-horizon-acua-explores-waste-conversion-technology-press-of-atlantic-city/ EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP — With the Atlantic County Utilities Authority landfill set to close in the next few years, officials are searching for a new way to handle waste, particularly through emerging “waste conversion” technologies. Among the new technologies available are processes that can convert the trash into energy either through the combination of electricity and high temperatures in plasma gasification, or a mechanical/biological treatment that sorts the trash, removing recyclables and then converting what remains, either through composting or an anaerobic digestion process that leaves behind a refuse-derived fuel. As part of the process, the refuse that remains can be as little as one-tenth of what now ends up in a landfill. All of these new forms of transforming waste-to-energy go beyond the current methods, said Matt DeNafo, the ACUA vice president of Centralized Maintenance & Asset Management. “You hear waste-energy and you think incineration. That’s not really what waste conversion is today,” DeNafo said last week. There are, however, challenges to overcome first, like securing permits and more importantly, bringing down costs of the new technology. “We can get the air permit, we can build the technology, the technology can work, but if it’s not cost effective and we find a cheaper way to dispose of our waste, than it doesn’t make sense for us to do that,” DeNafo said to the ACUA board on Sept. 15. Even when these economic, environmental, legal and technical problems are addressed and demonstration projects are successful, they can be difficult to scale from the demonstration-level into full-size operations. “We’ve seen a lot of these technologies go from a demonstration project and then go from something really really big, really, really fast and it’s just not successful,” DeNafo added. Regardless, the utilities authority needs to find a new way to manage waste collection. Its Egg Harbor Township landfill is set to reach capacity and close in 2027. New technologies Some of the new technologies can reduce the mass that needs to be placed in a landfill by 80% to 90%, ACUA officials said. They also avoid some of the greenhouse-gas emissions or other harmful byproducts that result from landfills, such as methane. The ACUA is not a stranger to attempts to bring waste conversion to the county. It began collaborating with NRG Energy in 2008 and awarded NRG a contract to develop a waste-conversion project. DeNafo said they had received or were prepared to receive all permits from the state Department of Environmental Protection, except for the air permits. New NRG management, DeNafo said, ultimately decided against the project and dashed the prospects of bringing new waste-conversion technology to the county. Despite challenges facing the industry, DeNafo said he was inspired by progress at different projects that were exhibited at the Waste Conversion Technology Conference & Trade Show he attended earlier this year. He noted that representatives from several large entities were in attendance, including those some from Google and the U.S. Department of Defense. There were presentations for various companies across country, including ones from California, Nevada, New York and Oregon. While these companies faced some of the challenges he laid out, he said they demonstrated how the waste-conversion projects can be viable and succeed in Atlantic County. One company, for example, produced a syngas as an output that could be further refined into jet fuel — a process DeNafo said could be useful for the ACUA due to its facilities’ proximity to Atlantic City International Airport. The Atlantic County Economic Alliance has focused on making the aerospace industry a crux of future development in the area. ACUA President Rick Dovey said there are already projects in the works that could benefit a future shift to waste conversion. He said the ACUA has agreed to a deal with South Jersey Industries in June to convert the emissions from its landfill into renewable natural gas. The project will involve a $30 million facility to be developed by South Jersey Industries and divert emissions that had been used in a less profitable venture to directly generate electricity. The Inflation Reduction Act, which President Joe Biden signed into law in August, helps guaranteed federal subsidies for renewable natural gas, further strengthens the deal over the current electricity-generation arrangement. Dovey said the project could be operational by 2024 and would benefit municipalities, taxpayers and ultimately future waste-conversion projects. While the pivoting toward new waste-conversion technology continues, officials are looking to find a path forward for its immediate future. The ACUA issued a request for proposal for hauling and disposal of solid waste in the county, which resulted in one bid, although it is possible the authority could reject the bid and issue another request for proposal — something that may fetch lower contract prices now, given that oil and gas prices have fallen substantially in the last several months. The ACUA had been considering working with the Cape May County Municipal Utilities Authority and the Cumberland County Improvement Authority, although Dovey said those authorities are no longer comfortable politically moving forward with the deal, due to intensifying controversy over the future of waste handling in the county. Rail-transfer station The bid and exploration of waste conversion comes as debate continues over a proposed rail-transfer station for construction-and-demolition debris waste. The transfer station, planned for a lot off West Washington Avenue in Pleasantville, has attracted significant controversy. The station’s supporters, including its developer, James DiNatale, have argued it would help the county prepare for the impending closure of the ACUA landfill, taking waste from the county and shipping it to a landfill in Ohio. They have maintained it would be cheaper than the ACUA alternatives, although ACUA officials have disputed his figures and noted that the bid process is not yet complete. For his part, DiNatale is critical of the ACUA’s pursuit of a new waste conversion method as a “pie-in-the-sky” idea similar to the flying cars in “The Jetsons” television show. He cited exorbitant costs and lack of a successful track record. “There’s nothing proven,” DiNatale said. “I don’t know how they get away with it.” The ACUA is moving forward with developing a waste-conversion technology for the region. Once it settles on a method, it expects to issue a request for proposals and solicit bids for a project by next January and award a contract in April. A project would then get underway within several years. “Sooner or later, these technologies are going to be approved, and the economics will be there,” Dovey said Thursday, citing companies in the Los Angeles area that are exploring the concept. “They know that eventually this is the answer.” Get local news delivered to your inbox! Headlining the slate is No. 20 Florida travelling to Rocky Top to take on No. 11 Tennessee in the SEC on CBS Game of the Week in a massive SEC East rivalry that will go a long way toward determining the state of the rebuilding process for both teams. Elsewhere, No. 5 Clemson will hit the road to take on No. 21 Wake Forest at high noon ET. The Tigers haven’t exactly been impressive through three games, but a win over the Demon Deacons would be a sure-fire signal that Dabo Swinney’s crew can contend.  A late night SEC West battle between No. 10 Arkansas and No. 23 Texas A&M will kickoff in the evening, as will a cross-division Big Ten tilt between Wisconsin and No. 3 Ohio State.  It’ll be a busy Saturday across the country. Here’s a handy viewer’s guide to help you navigate the action. All times eastern. The best games No. 5 Clemson at No. 21 Wake Forest — noon on ABC, fuboTV (Try for free): This key ACC Atlantic matchup will be a fascinating contract of styles. The Tigers defense — especially up front — is loaded, while the Demon Deacons up-tempo, slow-mesh offense is as dangerous as any in college football. The winner of this one will have a massive advantage in the race for the division title. No. 20 Florida at No. 11 Tennessee — 3:30 p.m. on CBS, CBSSports.com, CBS Sports App: The rivalry actually means something this year which is great not only for the SEC, but for the entire college football world. Gators quarterback Anthony Richardson has struggled through the air, but that might have to change if this turns into a shootout and he has to keep up with the up-tempo Volunteers offense led by Heisman Trophy candidate Hendon Hooker under center.  No. 22 Texas at Texas Tech — 3:30 p.m. on ESPN, fuboTV (Try for free): This key in-state battle is already a big deal in the race for the Big 12 title, but that intrigue cranked up a notch on Thursday when it was learned that star quarterback Quinn Ewers — who was injured in the loss to Alabama in Week 2 — will make the trip to Lubbock, Texas, and dress out. Ewers looked great against the Crimson Tide prior to his shoulder injury, and it’ll be interesting to see how coach Steve Sarkisian uses him if he does see the field. No. 10 Arkansas vs. No. 23 Texas A&M (in Arlington, Texas) — 7 p.m. on ESPN, fuboTV (Try for free): This showdown at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, is loaded with intrigue. The Razorbacks have the worst pass defense in the country (352.7 yards per game), while the Aggies pass offense has been mediocre at best. The loser of this one will be fighting an uphill battle in the SEC West for the remainder of the season. Wisconsin at No. 3 Ohio State — 7:30 p.m. on ABC, fuboTV (Try for free): This will be a contrast of styles between two Big Ten powers inside the Horseshoe. The Buckeyes boast a tremendous passing offense under Heisman contender C.J. Stroud, and the Badgers are built to own the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. Ohio State’s defensive front was a concern coming into the season, and this will be its biggest test of the young season. No. 7 USC at Oregon State — 9:30 p.m. on Pac-12 Network, fuboTV (Try for free): The high-flying Trojans offense will head to Corvallis, Oregon, where it will take on a Beavers team that has very quietly gone 3-0 and produced the Pac-12’s second-best offense. Which Metaverse Is Superior: Decentraland (MANA) Or Sandbox (SAND)? – Yucatan Magazine https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/which-metaverse-is-superior-decentraland-mana-or-sandbox-sand-yucatan-magazine/ Decentraland and Sandbox are significant words in the area of the metaverse. Let’s examine the distinctions between Decentraland and Sandbox and understand what is better, mana or sand. Metaverse is a prevalent term in tech discussions nowadays. The whole tech industry expects the metaverse, but it’s undefined. Think 1980s internet. The metaverse is a three-dimensional virtual world where users may interact as digital avatars. Amid all the buzz around the metaverse, the Decentraland vs Sandbox argument has begun to gather traction. Both are entirely decentralized metaverse systems with no central authority. So, what are their distinctions, and which one is superior?  The first need for a comparison between sandbox and Decentraland is a summary of the respective definitions. Anyone who carefully follows metaverse news must have heard of the current top two leaders in the area. There are several parallels between the two, although there are also many substantial variances. Let’s begin by defining both platforms to determine, if there is one, which is superior: sandbox or Decentraland. Definition Decentraland (MANA) Decentraland, the early pioneer in the metaverse area, began in 2017 and is a fully immersive and entertaining 3D metaverse. It focuses on allowing users to acquire land parcels in addition to exploring the vast virtual globe. Decentraland offers participants a variety of activities, including gaming, casinos, galleries, and concerts, among others. It is now the longest-running project inside the metaverse. Decentraland launched in 2020 with a $24 million ICO. On the platform’s virtual land, people may develop unique experiences. MANA and LAND are tied to Decentraland. MANA, the platform’s ERC-20 token, may be burned to buy LAND tokens, which are ERC-721. The MANA token is accepted in the Decentraland marketplace for avatars, wearables, products, and names. Definition Sandbox (SAND) The next significant participant, Sandbox, began as a blockchain-based virtual world in 2011 and transitioned to a 3D game platform in 2017. The virtual world enables users to construct, play, exercise ownership, and monetize all of their virtual experiences. One of the key goals of Sandbox is to enable blockchain community artists, designers, and gamers to construct the platform according to their vision. Sandbox provides the optimal environment for releasing creativity in the creation of contemporary game ecology. The idea combines the advantages of NFTs and DAOs to empower a community of gamers that is continually expanding. Sandbox is an ingenious play-to-earn paradigm that assists users in their growth as gamers and producers. The platform provides a utility token, SAND, which is required for all platform-based transactions. MANA is a great creative medium, entertainment source, and economic opportunity for corporations, individuals, and artists. It’s a fast-growing DAO project. MANA token holders control Decentraland. Sandbox is a blockchain-based virtual environment that uses SAND. Users may create, trade, and buy digital items and experiences on the platform, which also supports blockchain-based games. Sandbox emphasizes user-generated content and develops a player-driven environment. Want to know about other cryptocurrencies? The Authentic Deal: Recipes From Pasta Grannies – Comfort Cooking – New Zealand Herald https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/the-authentic-deal-recipes-from-pasta-grannies-comfort-cooking-new-zealand-herald/ Spaghetti with lemon pasta from Procida. Photo / Lizzie Mayson Who better to take inspiration from than the generation who have spent their lifetimes plating up comfort and connection? Vicky Bennison, the author of the bestselling Pasta Grannies cookbook, brings us more heart-warming recipes and stories from our favourite Italian grandmothers in this easy-to-follow, crowd-pleasing recipe book that shows you how to make authentic Italian food everyone will enjoy. And it’s Stanley Tucci-approved, no less. Roman stuffed tomatoes. Photo / Lizzie Mayson Anna’s pomodori ripieni di riso alla Romana – Roman stuffed tomatoes Serves 4 Baked rice-filled tomatoes are a classic summer dish in Rome, prepared in the cooler hours and then eaten, at room temperature, later in the day. Your tomatoes must be flavoursome – if in doubt, stir in a couple of tablespoons of grated pecorino or parmigiano just before you divide the rice mixture between the tomatoes. 4 large ripe tomatoes 16 basil leaves Olive oil, for seasoning and drizzling 200g risotto rice such as arborio 4 small cloves garlic Salt and pepper 1. Preheat the oven to 175C. 2. Cut the tops off the tomatoes (keep the tops as they will be the lid) and scoop out the flesh. A food mill is a useful gadget here: plop the pulp onto the plate and crush the contents into a bowl. This removes the pips and hard bits that can form near the stalk. Or run the tomatoes through a fine sieve with a wooden spoon (less fun than using a mill). Shred the basil leaves finely and stir these into the juice with a scant teaspoon of salt, 2 tablespoons of olive oil and a couple of grinds of black pepper. Taste it; the rice is going to absorb and knock back the flavour, so you want it to be properly seasoned. 3. Anna’s method is to soak the rice in this mixture for at least 1 hour before spooning it into the tomato shells, but I have found my rice doesn’t cook very evenly when I do this, so I cheat and simmer the tomato-rice mix in a pan for 6 minutes and let it cool a little before I distribute it evenly among the 4 tomato shells, making sure not to overfill any of them. 4. Tuck a small garlic clove into each tomato and top with the lid. Place them in a baking dish and drizzle everything with olive oil. 5. Bake in the oven for 50–60 minutes. Remove from the oven and once they are cool, remove the garlic cloves. Served warm or at room temperature; they taste even better if you can let them sit overnight. Rice and peas from Veneto. Photo / Lizzie Mayson Giulina’s risi e bisi – Rice and peas from Veneto Serves 4 Giulina lives in Murano, an island just a short ferry ride from Venice; tourists flock there for its glass blowing, but devoted vegetable lovers get off at the next stop, the lesser-known island of Sant’Erasmo. It is a small, crocheted vegetative blanket of market gardening, laden with produce and struggling to stay afloat in the lagoon. 1kg peas in the pods, or 600g frozen peas 6 Tbsp extra-virgin olive oil 1 onion, finely diced 320g risotto rice, preferably vialone nano 4 heaped Tbsp finely chopped parsley 40g unsalted butter 60g parmigiano reggiano, grated Salt Black pepper (optional) 1. If you’re using peas in pods, shell the peas and place the pods in a saucepan with plenty of water. Cover and simmer gently for about 1 hour until they’re very soft. Alternatively, use a pressure cooker to speed up the process. Scoop out the pods and pass them through a food mill, scraping the resulting purée back into the water to create the stock. Season with salt to taste and keep warm in a saucepan over a low heat. 2. If you don’t have access to fresh peas, you can use frozen ones instead. Place 1.2 litres of water with 300g of peas into a saucepan and bring them to the boil with 4g – 2 heavy pinches – of salt. Cover the pan and cook the peas for 8 minutes. Strain them, allow them to cool for 2 minutes, then puree until very smooth. 3. Heat the olive oil in a saute pan over a medium heat, add the onion with a pinch of salt and cook for 5–7 minutes until softened but not browned.  Add the rice and the remaining peas: how many is up to you. Saute the mixture for a few minutes until the grains are semi-translucent. Add half the parsley; keep frying, season with salt, then start adding in the stock 2 ladlefuls at a time. Add more stock when the rice starts to dry out. If you are using frozen peas, add them now. 4. You’re aiming for a sloppy risotto. Once the rice is cooked – it should be al dente but not chalky in the middle – take the pan off the heat and stir in the rest of the parsley, the butter and Parmigiano. Let it rest, covered, for 3–5 minutes; if it thickens up too much, stir in a little more stock. Serve with more cheese and some black pepper if you like. Spaghetti with lemon pasta from Procida. Photo / Lizzie Mayson Procida ladies’ spaghetti al pesto di limone – Spaghetti with lemon pesto from Procida Serves: 4–6 Procida, a tiny little island just off Naples, was the location for The Talented Mr Ripley film and was awarded Italy’s Capital for Culture for 2022. Lemons in this part of the world are large, sweet and fragrant – if you are using regular lemons, experiment with the acidity by reducing the amount of juice and adding a little more water. Meyer lemons can also be substituted. 3 large organic lemons 50ml lemon juice (from about 2 lemons) 10g flat-leaf parsley (or basil) 5g mint 1 clove garlic Pinch salt Pinch dried chilli flakes 50ml extra virgin olive oil 50g Italian pine nuts (or walnuts) 100g parmigiano reggiano (or pecorino), grated Allow 90–100g of boxed spaghetti per person 1. Start by peeling the lemons; you only want the skin. A great way to remove the pith from the peel is to use a filleting knife, which has flexible blade. Anchor the peel pith side up with a finger, then with the other hand press and slither the knife horizontally under the pith (away from your fingers, please), leaving the zesty skin. 2. Chop the rinds finely. Strain the lemon juice to remove pips. Rough chop the parsley, mint and garlic and blitz all these together in a food processor with a pinch of salt, the chilli flakes and the oil until smooth. Roughly chop the nuts, add them to the mix and blitz again until you have a rough paste. Add half the cheese and give it a quick zhuzh. Taste for acidity and, if needed, add tablespoons of water to adjust. 3. Bring a large pan of salted water to the boil and cook the spaghetti for the time indicated on the packet. In the meantime take a large salad bowl and dollop in the pesto. Dilute with a ladle of hot pasta water to make it more of a sauce. Drain your pasta, keeping some of the pasta water. Toss the pasta with the pesto, adding in the rest of the cheese and adding more hot pasta water if necessary so the sauce coats the spaghetti. Serve immediately. This should be on your regular recipe roster! Edited extract from Pasta Grannies: Comfort Cooking by Vicky Bennison (Hardie Grant Books, RRP $50, available in-stores nationally.

Cardano Creator Charles Hoskinson Names Catalyst That He Believes Could End Crypto Downturn And Trigger ‘… – The Daily Hodl https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/cardano-creator-charles-hoskinson-names-catalyst-that-he-believes-could-end-crypto-downturn-and-trigger-the-daily-hodl/ The creator of Ethereum (ETH) challenger Cardano (ADA) says that he’s identified the catalyst that would end the crypto winter and spark a massive industry-wide rally. In a new interview with Cheeky Crypto, Charles Hoskinson, creator of the smart contract platform, says that if the US government were to pass the Financial Innovation Act, the crypto markets would begin a mega bull run. Hoskinson says that the passing of this act would prompt blue-chip investors to flood the crypto markets with capital as well as reduce the regulatory risks associated with investing in digital assets. “I’ve been through seven bull-bear markets since I joined the cryptocurrency space, and this [current market] is no different. It could last 18 months, it could last two years, it could end at the end of the year, who knows? It’s any given Sunday. [But] if America passes the Financial Innovation Act, we’d probably see a mega bull market because a huge amount of institutional money would enter and also all of the regulatory risk [with] crypto would disappear.” The Financial Innovation Act, which was proposed by Republican Senator Cynthia Lummis of Wyoming and Democrat Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of New York in June, aims to create a comprehensive regulatory framework for the digital assets industry. However, Hoskinson notes that it’s possible for the markets to go the other way if certain regulators, such as U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chairman Gary Gensler, are further empowered. “[If] people like Gensler are empowered, we could see a mega bear market happen as a massive amount of litigation occurs and all these poor entrepreneurs just basically get put out of business by the heavy-handed government.” I Don’t Miss a Beat – Subscribe to get crypto email alerts delivered directly to your inbox Check Price Action Follow us on Twitter, Facebook and Telegram Surf The Daily Hodl Mix Check Latest News Headlines &nbsp Disclaimer: Opinions expressed at The Daily Hodl are not investment advice. The Demographics Are Undeniable. Latinos Are The Future Of US Sports Industry Leaders Say The San Diego Union-Tribune
‘The Demographics Are Undeniable.’ Latinos Are The Future Of US Sports, Industry Leaders Say – The San Diego Union-Tribune https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/the-demographics-are-undeniable-latinos-are-the-future-of-us-sports-industry-leaders-say-the-san-diego-union-tribune/ SAN DIEGO —  Some of the highest-ranking executives in professional sports convened in San Diego on Saturday to discuss the outsized significance of Latino fans and athletes, who they say are essential to the future prosperity of the industry. The message, presented alongside supporting data from Boston Consulting Group and Ampere Analysis, was delivered during a morning panel on the economics of sports at the L’Attitude conference at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego. The event, in its fifth year, spotlights Latino business, innovation and consumers, and is expected to draw 6,000 attendees from around the country. “When you take the stats against the metrics, you see that Latinos top the charts from every single dimension,” said Daniel Acosta, a senior partner with business-strategy firm Boston Consulting Group, who cited research showing that Latino sports fans spend 20 percent more, on an absolute basis, than non-Latinos. “They are the ideal sports fan.” Acosta, who also sought to dispel the notion that Latinos are primarily soccer fans, helped tee up a broader conversation on how the cohort’s ability to drive sales, as well as TV and online viewership, is forcing executives to rethink everything from who they hire to how they market their teams. Xavier Gutierrez, who is the CEO of the Arizona Coyotes Hockey Club, moderated the panel with ESPN’s President of Programming Burke Magnus, NBA Agent Erika Ruiz and Phoenix Suns Chief Revenue Officer Dan Costello. “The reality is that Latinos, just like in every other industry in our economy, drive sports,” Gutierrez told the crowd. The former private investment firm executive said he was handpicked in 2020 to run the professional hockey team by billionaire owner Alex Meruelo, despite not knowing how to ice skate. During his first Board of Governors meeting with team owners and league officials, Gutierrez said he used a hockey metaphor to explain his business plan to National Hockey League Commissioner Gary Bettman. “Wayne Gretzky was the greatest hockey player in the history of hockey, and they asked his dad what made him so great. And he said, ‘Wayne, he goes to where the puck is going — not where it’s been,’” Gutierrez said. “So in the US, where is the puck going? Latino.” Magnus, the ESPN programming executive, echoed the sentiment. “Our research … aligns with what (Acosta) just showed. In terms of fandom, the demographics are undeniable,” Magnus said. “For us to see a future of growth at ESPN, (we’re) going to have to lean into the Latino cohort.” ESPN, he added, needs to do a better job putting more Latinos in front of the camera. “In our business, for attracting an audience, people need to see people show up on screen that they identify with,” Magnus said, pointing to the network’s bilingual baseball reporter Marly Rivera as a prime example. “When I think about her, I say, ‘I want 10 more of her.’” The comments drew an immediate, “Right here!,” response from conference attendee Marysol Castro, who is a journalist and the public address announcer for the New York Mets. “I wanted to get his attention, not for me specifically, but so that he either learns for the first time, or is reminded, that there are a lot of Latinos who are in the talent pool,” Castro told the Union-Tribune after the panel. “So the goal was a little bit of shaming him, and a little bit of, I’m glad you’re here and I hope you’re absorbing this.” The talent pool extends to would-be female sports agents, Ruiz, the first Latina agent in the NBA, said during the panel. “There is not a pipeline issue,” Ruiz said. “I think there needs to be a shift in mindset and leadership. There also needs to be intention behind hiring Latinas in positions of power.” L’Attitude continues Sunday, headlined by a conversation with former President Barack Obama.

Live Score: UCF Knights Football Vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets – Daytona Beach News-Journal https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/live-score-ucf-knights-football-vs-georgia-tech-yellow-jackets-daytona-beach-news-journal/ The Daytona Beach News-Journal The UCF Knights welcome in their second ACC opponent in three weeks, hungry to treat their fans to a big win in the program’s first Saturday home date of the fall. UCF meets Georgia Tech, an opponent whom they handled 49-21 two seasons ago in Atlanta. Dillon Gabriel tossed four touchdowns for the then-No. 14 Knights as they blitzed the Yellow Jackets for 660 yards of total offense. UCF (2-1) turned in a terrific second half to pull away from upset-minded Florida Atlantic last week in a 40-14 victory. The Knights limited FAU to 18 yards after halftime; John Rhys Plumlee, Isaiah Bowser and RJ Harvey rushed for touchdowns in the victory. Meanwhile, Georgia Tech (1-2, 0-1 ACC) is hoping to shake off a 42-0 home loss at the hands of Ole Miss. Fourth-year head coach Geoff Collins is under tremendous pressure, considering his 10-27 career record and the Yellow Jackets’ lack of competitiveness in the ACC. Follow updates from Daytona Beach News-Journal reporter Chris Boyle down below. KNOW YOUR FOE: Geoff Collins on the hot seat at Georgia Tech ahead of trip to UCF Watch the game: How to watch UCF Knights vs. Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets on TV, live stream 6:05 p.m. | Colton Boomer makes 3rd FG for UCF UCF’s placekicking woes appear to be solved. Colton Boomer made his third kick of the day, a 37-yarder, to extend the Knights’ lead to 16-7 with 9:44 left in the third quarter. The Knights produced a nine-play, 55-yard drive to set up the Boomer field goal — highlighted by 15-yard runs for John Rhys Plumlee and RJ Harvey. Georgia Tech went three-and-out on its first possession out of halftime. 5:20 p.m. | UCF reclaims lead with blocked punt TD UCF got a much-needed jolt before halftime, courtesy of its special teams unit. Jarvis Ware blocked a punt, and Quadric Bullard scooped it up for a 29-yard touchdown with 35 seconds left in the second quarter. The Knights are back in front of Georgia Tech, 13-7. The Knights’ offense has been inefficient to say the least, averaging 3.9 yards per play. John Rhys Plumlee is 5-of-11 passing for 41 yards and an interception. 5:05 p.m. | Jeff Sims’ long TD pass gives Jackets the lead Perhaps it’s too early to panic, but perhaps not. Jeff Sims found Malachi Carter in stride for a 59-yard touchdown pass to give Georgia Tech a 7-3 lead over UCF with 5:54 left in the second quarter. UCF marched 71 yards on its first drive, but has 22 on its last two possessions. 4:45 p.m. | John Rhys Plumlee tosses ugly pick near the end zone Georgia Tech came up empty on its first drive when Jude Kelley shanked a 32-yard field goal wide left. UCF failed to capitalize, though, as John Rhys Plumlee tossed an ugly interception to LaMiles Brooks on a deep shot for Ryan O’Keefe. Plumlee is 3 of 7 for 7 yards at the 12:26 mark of the second quarter. The Knights have gained 95 rushing yards on 23 attempts. 4:25 p.m. | Long UCF opening drive ends with field goal UCF drained more than 9 minutes off the clock on its opening possession, but settled for a 21-yard field goal by Colton Boomer to take a 3-0 lead on Georgia Tech. The Knights methodically marched 71 yards in 20 plays, converting a pair of fourth downs. Isaiah Bowser leads the rushing attack with 27 yards on six attempts. John Rhys Plumlee misfired on both of his passing attempts. 4 p.m. | Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste active for UCF Jeremiah Jean-Baptiste returns to the UCF starting lineup after missing last week’s trip to Florida Atlantic to a reported knee injury. Jean-Baptiste, a senior linebacker, participated in pre-game warmups and joined fellow captains Isaiah Bowser, Ryan O’Keefe and Samuel Jackson for the coin toss. Jason Johnson and Walter Yates started in Jean-Baptiste’s absence against FAU. 2:30 p.m. | Kobe Hudson expected to return for UCF UCF will take on Georgia Tech in its first Saturday home game, and final non-conference matchup, of the season at 4 p.m. Saturday. And there will be a welcome addition to the receiving corps as Kobe Hudson is expected to return after a two-game absence due to “personal reasons,” per head coach Gus Malzahn. Hudson is yet to make his first catch for the Knights, but he was Auburn’s leading receiver in 2021. He caught 44 balls for 580 yards and four touchdowns. He’s listed among the starters on the depth chart with Javon Baker and Ryan O’Keefe. Wide receiver Amari Johnson (ankle) are among the notable inactives for the Knights. Tight end Jordan Davis — the younger brother of Buffalo Bills wide receiver Gabriel Davis — is set to miss an extended period of time, Malzahn said during Monday’s press conference, after an injury suffered on the opening kickoff of last week’s game at Florida Atlantic.

GTA 6 Actors May Have Been Discovered Following Leaks – ComicBook.com https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/gta-6-actors-may-have-been-discovered-following-leaks-comicbook-com/ The actors for Grand Theft Auto VI‘s protagonists may have been discovered following the recently leaked footage. Rockstar Games has a history of making incredibly iconic video game protagonists. Tommy Vercetti, John Marston, Arthur Morgan, Trevor Phillips, Niko Bellic, and more all make up some of the best protagonists in gaming, but almost all of them were played by unknown actors at the time. After the PS2 era, Rockstar Games pivoted away from celebrities for a number of reasons, but it also made it so they could create a character from scratch without you hearing or seeing a real person or one of those other characters.  It seems like that same strategy will apply to Grand Theft Auto VI, a game that likely has an outlandish budget and will make heaps of money. Last weekend, Rockstar Games was hacked and over 90 videos of Grand Theft Auto VI footage was leaked. The footage revealed the game’s location, new mechanics, and the two playable protagonists, Lucia and Jason. Naturally, the internet went to work and tried to figure out who was playing them. It is believed that Alexandra C. Echavarri plays Lucia and Bryan Zampella plays Jason, though this is purely based on the rough looks we have of the characters and some snippets of their voices. It has been heavily speculated that Alexandra C. Echavarri is playing a character in GTA 6 for a while based on social media posts and a resume that was found online that listed she was playing a “principal character” in a Rockstar Games title. Her resume has since been edited to remove the Rockstar Games mention, but does note it’s a Take-Two project, the company that owns Rockstar and 2K Games. The GTA Forums community has likely found the identity of both actors portraying GTA 6’s protagonists. Bryan Zampella portrays Jason Alexandra C. Echavarri portrays Lucia pic.twitter.com/VjRkxQpTyU — Michael (@LegacyKillaHD) September 22, 2022 It’ll likely be easier to definitively determine the actors when the first proper trailer is released and players get closer, more high-res looks at the protagonists and can hear more lines. Rockstar Games itself didn’t reveal the cast for Red Dead Redemption 2 until just ahead of the game’s release, so it’s likely there won’t be much confirmation until closer to the game’s release, as to avoid too many people swarming them with questions. 0comments What do you think of the protagonists in GTA 6? SUMMER HULL/THE POINTS GUY A representative for the hotel remained tight-lipped about who qualifies, but a call to the reservations desk answered a few questions. You technically don’t need to be a high roller or a Grammy winner, as I assumed, to book a stay in one of these villas, but a reservation request has to be approved by management, the phone agent explained to me. That’s because those managers give priority (and probably free stays) to the actual high rollers who are droppings hundreds of thousands of dollars in the casino. But if you’re gambling is more modest, or even nonexistent, anyone who can afford the Mansion — I was quoted $6,000 to $7,500 a night for a two-bedroom villa — can put in a request and, assuming they’re not all blocked off by the higher powers, there’s a fair chance the stay is yours. One word of advice: Don’t try to book a stay here when there’s a big event on the books, like a fight at the MGM Grand Garden Arena. Also, don’t try to book more than 90 days in advance, as these larger-than-life villas (including the four-bedroom villa with an indoor pool) seem to be mostly set aside in case a true VIP pops into town. While The Mansion at MGM Grand is certainly one of the most top-tier experiences in Sin City, it’s not the only hotel-within-a-hotel in town. In fact, there are quite a few on the Strip. And now the trend of putting another entirely separate hotel, hidden or not, within another hotel is starting to spread outside the confines of Las Vegas. Hotels hiding in plain sight In its most simple form, a hotel-within-a-hotel is exactly what it sounds like: a separate hotel tucked away inside a bigger or better-known hotel. In theory, there are no set rules and a hotel-within-a-hotel can be whatever a hotelier wants it to be, from a set of luxurious villas with a private reception area to an entirely different brand or chain in the same building. “A hotel-within-a-hotel is a more elevated experience offering elite interiors, designated check-in areas, exclusive services, dedicated staff and upgraded amenities that are completely different from the host hotel,” Benjamin Kott, vice president of hotel operations at Aria and Vdara in Las Vegas, told TPG. Kott added that MGM has hotels like this in its portfolio, including NoMad at Park MGM and Delano at Mandalay Bay. The NoMad Las Vegas in the Park MGM is a great example of a well-known brand setting up shop within a larger host hotel. The Sydell Group, the force behind brands like Line and Freehand, originally created the much-loved NoMad New York, which closed in 2021. Playing off the success of that hotel, Sydell Group, which owns Park MGM, brought a taste of New York to the Strip in the form of a hotel-within-a-hotel, the NoMad Las Vegas, which has its own porte cochere, or private entrance. The entrance to the NoMad Las Vegas. MGM RESORTS INTERNATIONAL But that’s not the only one. The Four Seasons Hotel Las Vegas is tucked away in the Mandalay Bay complex and the Nobu Hotel Las Vegas, the very first in the Nobu hotel empire that’s sweeping the globe, is found in Caesars Palace. While each of these hotels is different in what it offers, one of the big perks is that guests in the more exclusive (often more expensive) hotels can still use the amenities of what Kott called the “host” hotel. At the Four Seasons in Las Vegas, for example, guests can swim in the private Four Seasons pool or take advantage of Mandalay Bay’s massive pool complex and its real-sand beach. FOUR SEASONS But there’s another type of hotel-within-a-hotel — one that’s created by and within the host hotel to offer an elevated, luxurious experience for someone looking for something beyond just a place to sleep at night. “As the entertainment capital of the world, Las Vegas sees a variety of visitors from all over the globe who travel to the city with specific tastes and interests,” said Kott. “We’re seeing now, more than ever, that our guests want an elevated stay and experiences that showcase more customer service and amenities and hotels-within-hotels offer all that and more.” At his hotel, Aria, there are actually two hotel-within-a-hotel experiences: Aria Sky Suites and Sky Villas, both of which just went through head-to-toe remodels. At Sky Suites, there are 400 suites with one to multiple bedrooms that can be booked directly online by anyone willing to shell out upward of $1,100 per night. A Sky Suites one-bedroom penthouse. MGM RESORTS INTERNATIONAL The Sky Villas are akin to The Mansion at MGM Grand, requiring management approval to release one of the resort’s top-tier rooms that would otherwise be given to a high roller. Calling to see what kind of price we might be looking at for one of the Sky Villas, a phone representative said he recently saw managers approve a three-bedroom suite for $20,000 a night and smaller rooms (they start at 2,000 square feet, so not that small) for between $10,000 and $12,000 a night. But hey, that’s the price of exclusivity. “Aria Sky Suites and Sky Villas at Aria are definitely separate experiences from Aria itself in that they both offer complimentary luxury transportation to and from the airport,” Kott explained. “They also have their own separate entrance and designated check-in area, a separate pool area and a 24-hour concierge that gives Sky Suites and Sky Villa guests effortless access to some of the city’s best offerings.” And if you’re curious if these hotels-within-hotels are competing against their host hotels, the answer is a simple no, according to Kott. “It’s a different kind of clientele so it doesn’t compete.” Beyond Las Vegas Though Las Vegas may hold the crown for most hotel-within-a-hotel experiences, it’s not the only place you can find the concept. One place to look for it is Miami, where there are a number of properties offering a secret (or not-so-secret) hotel within another. At the storied Eden Roc Miami Beach, which opened in 1955 to the sounds of a live Harry Belafonte performance, would-be guests can book a stay at Nobu Hotel Miami Beach, which has a pool for guests 21 and older and a private beach area. Marriott got in on the action by opening The Hotel Beaux Arts, part of the Autograph Collection, on the top floors of the JW Marriott Marquis Miami. There, guests might not have the same exclusive perks as in Vegas, but guests can have a more boutique stay in the room while enjoying shared amenities between the two like the Enliven Spa, a 19th-floor pool, virtual bowling and even basketball courts. Up in Palm Beach, Florida, guests can always expect a luxurious stay at The Breakers, a palatial oceanfront property that dates back to the late 1800s. But for a much more exclusive stay, check into The Flagler Club, a boutique-like hotel on the top floors of the resort that comes with Telsa chauffeur service, a private lounge and rooftop terrace, a dedicated team to help with any needs and more — all for about $1,000 more per night than a standard Breakers room. On the other side of the country, in California, San Diego’s Hotel del Coronado just unveiled an entirely new hotel-within-a-hotel experience, alongside its other hotel offerings, billed as “neighborhoods.” The newest hotel, The Shore House, comprises 75 one-, two- and three-bedroom residential-style accommodations right off the beach of the Pacific Ocean. The Shore House pool. HILTON Though the resort itself is a sprawling complex with accommodation types for every type of traveler, The Shore House is an elevated, luxury experience that feels more like a vacation rental with a dedicated resort entrance, a zero-edge oceanfront pool with private cabanas, a poolside bar and access to the resort’s other amenities, plus a VIP concierge exclusive to Shore House guests. Rates at The Shore House start at $1,299 a night. Bottom line Hotels-within-hotels aren’t a new concept, but it’s also a growing trend I hope we see more of in the future, especially at big resorts like you’ll find in Las Vegas and other popular vacation destinations. While club-level rooms at a lot of hotels do offer special perks like a lounge and a happy hour, having an entirely different hotel-within-a-hotel creates a truly distinct experience that can totally elevate a trip (and its price tag). So, the next time you’re looking for a place to stay, be sure to do a little digging. Who knows, there might just be a secret hotel — or Tuscan village — hiding in the shadows. Lynchburg-Area Programs Parks Aim To Encourage Healthy Living Lynchburg News And Advance
Lynchburg-Area Programs, Parks Aim To Encourage Healthy Living – Lynchburg News And Advance https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/lynchburg-area-programs-parks-aim-to-encourage-healthy-living-lynchburg-news-and-advance/ Dr. Cate Varney and P.E. teacher Kelly Walters discuss childhood obesity in Charlottesville, Va. Childhood obesity is a problem around the nation and in Virginia, and the Lynchburg area is no exception. Dr. Michael Jones, a specialist in bariatric medicine at Centra Weight Loss in Lynchburg, described childhood obesity as a significant and growing problem. “It’s really becoming a huge issue,” Jones said. “It is estimated that the current generation of children will be the first generation of children in modern history that have a lower life expectancy than their parents. And we think a very significant percentage of that is the obesity epidemic.” Jones spends a lot of time counseling and working with patients in the Lynchburg area who suffer from obesity and has worked in Lynchburg for almost five years. He said he has become rather passionate about talking to patients who are young parents on addressing their obesity. He uses that as a means of helping their children. “If you have one parent with obesity, you have a greater than 50% likelihood of developing obesity even if you were skinny as a rail all the way up through high school,” Jones said. The Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth was established in 1999 by the Virginia General Assembly and encourages youth in the commonwealth to make healthy choices by reducing and preventing tobacco use, substance use and childhood obesity. It did a survey in 2019 in partnership with the Virginia Department of Health, the Department of Education in Virginia and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Michael Parsons, director of programs for Virginia Foundation for Healthy Youth, said officials went to schools around the state and surveyed high school students ages 15 to 18, using that data to get an idea of what programs could help youth. In the survey from 2019, about 32% of youths described themselves as slightly or very overweight, and about 18% said they were obese.  “Both Southwest Virginia and Central Virginia do have childhood obesity rates that are higher than the statewide average,” Parsons said. Parsons said the group is waiting for updated data to come in from last year, to see the effect the pandemic has had on obesity numbers. “This has not been a normal two-year period, and so I’m not sure what it’s going to show us,” Parsons said. “I don’t know what the impact of school closures or what the impact of a public health pandemic will be on childhood obesity rates,” Parsons said. Lynchburg Parks and Recreation has programs in place around the city for physical activity. Jennifer Jones, director of parks and rec, said one big way the city provides physical activity and infrastructure is through neighborhood centers. There are six such centers: College Hill, Daniels Hill, Diamond Hill, Fairview, Jefferson Park and Yoder in Timber Ridge. Activities at the centers include playgrounds and basketball courts that have been recently upgraded. Lynchburg Parks and Recreation is working on several plans, such as the Jefferson Park Master Plan and the College Park Master Plan. Those efforts are intended to bring new infrastructure, including new sports courts, new ball fields and natural playgrounds. Along with receiving the proper amount of physical activity, Jennifer Jones said eating the right amount of nutritious food is important. To that end, fresh produce is free at all neighborhood centers. “A lot of times what’s missing isn’t necessarily the activity piece, it’s the nutrition piece, and we’ve really focused on making locally grown produce available,” she said. Jennifer Jones also emphasized the educational piece. At the centers, there are programs that teach children how to grow and harvest their own food. There’s also a program called healthy eats in partnership with Virginia Cooperative Extension. In this program, kids learn the importance of healthy eating, the repercussions of not eating healthy and how to cook meals. Also, Jennifer Jones said Lynchburg City Council has adopted in its Lynchburg Plan — a roadmap of how the city will accomplish council’s priorities — a 10-minute walk program, which is the idea of placing a park within a 10-minute walk of every neighborhood. She said this makes people three times as likely to get the recommended physical activity daily. Overall, the parks and rec director emphasized that the department is conscious of this problem. “We’re very conscious of this; health and wellness is one of three pillars in parks and recreation,” Jennifer Jones said. “So you know we are super focused on that.” Get local news delivered to your inbox! Kansas Vs. Duke Updates: Live NCAA Football Game Scores, Results For Saturday – CBS Sports https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/kansas-vs-duke-updates-live-ncaa-football-game-scores-results-for-saturday-cbs-sports/ After two games on the road, the Kansas Jayhawks are heading back home. They will square off against the Duke Blue Devils at noon ET on Saturday at Kivisto Field at David Booth Kansas Memorial Stadium. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, Kansas and Duke will really light up the scoreboard. The Jayhawks strolled past the Houston Cougars with points to spare last week, taking the contest 48-30. QB Jalon Daniels had a dynamite game for Kansas; he passed for three TDs and 158 yards on 23 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 123 yards. Near the top of the highlight reel was Daniels’ 60-yard TD bomb to RB Torry Locklin in the second quarter. Meanwhile, if there were any doubts why Duke was a heavy favorite Saturday, the squad quickly laid those doubts to rest. They put the hurt on the North Carolina A&T Aggies with a sharp 49-20 victory. With Duke ahead 28-6 at the half, the game was all but over already. Their QB Riley Leonard was on fire, passing for two TDs and 155 yards on 12 attempts in addition to rushing for two TDs and 66 yards. One of the most memorable plays of the matchup was Leonard’s 56-yard touchdown rush in the third quarter. The wins brought both teams up to an identical 3-0. A pair of numbers to keep in mind before kickoff: The Jayhawks rank second in the nation when it comes to overall offensive touchdowns, with 20 on the season. But the Blue Devils come into the matchup boasting the 22nd fewest touchdowns allowed in the nation at five. These opposing strengths should make for an exciting matchup. Season Leaders passing R. Slime Rancher 2: All Gordo Slime Locations EXputer
Slime Rancher 2: All Gordo Slime Locations – EXputer https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/slime-rancher-2-all-gordo-slime-locations-exputer/ The cute and squishy slimes are here, finally. As a player, you will know all about the Gordo Slime locations in Slime Rancher 2 in our guide. Slime Rancher 2 is a sequel to the first Slime Rancher game that was released back in 2017. You can also check out our guide on how to get a jetpack in Slime Rancher 2 and upgrade it as well.  Moreover, as Beatrix LeBeau, you will get to discover new lands in a world far away called Rainbow Island. Other than that, players will also find out so many new slimes of different kinds, all possessing special features and attributes.  Furthermore, make sure to stick around and come across new islands and even get to farm a conservatory. The conservatory will be used to craft and create new types of equipment that come in handy while battling your way through Slime Rancher 2.  What Are Gordo Slimes? Gordo Slimes are huge, immovable slimes. If you want to burst them, then just simply keep feeding them more food, and they will eventually crack. Gordo Slimes can even get teleporters unlocked that are very valuable and also help in dropping several slimes. Furthermore, players can also get access to some areas through Gordo Slimes, which they cannot go to otherwise. Moreover, you will also come across around sixteen Gordo Slimes in the wild in some range areas. Gordo Slimes are created when several slimes of the same kind mix up. Due to this, slimes cannot move anywhere.  Gordo Slimes are also capable of holding a Slime Key, and players can also get the Static Teleport discovered through it furthermore, if you want to spawn a Gordo on a site of Gadget. However, you would need to get the Gordo Snare by feeding it. It is also important to know that the Gordo that is snared cannot hold any keys. Below, we have mentioned all the locations of the Gordo Slime.  Locations Of Gordo Slimes If you want to see all the locations to get Gordo Slimes, keep reading. As valuable as they are, knowing the location can be just as difficult. However, in our guide, you will know all about the different Gordo Slimes and their locations. Locations Of Gordo Slime, Rainbow Island. Cotton Slime Gordo The slimes of Cotton are loved by almost everyone in Slime Rancher 2. When you see them, the slimes will remind you of small round bunnies, and it would be very easy to be caring towards them.  Moreover, finding the location of these slimes can be extremely easy as well. To find Cotton Gordo Slime, players can look at the southwestern side of Rainbow Island in the depths.  Cotton Gordo Slime. Just keep walking towards the south from your conservatory; you can also get your map in your hands to find it easily. Furthermore, as a player, you will have to feed the Gordo Cotton Slime hell lots of vegetables to get it defeated. Pink Slime Gordo Finding the Pink Slimes of Gordo is the easiest task in Slime Rancher 2, and they are also very adorable. Players will instantly feel lighter and relaxed when they are in the company of pink Gordon Slimes.  Pink Gordo Slime Players can locate the pink Gordo Slime and move towards the northwestern side of the fields of Rainbow. Check the map once you have walked towards the west from your conservatory. After the players have gotten to the Transfer Refinery icon on the map, keep walking, and you will come across Pink Gordo. To defeat this slime, players can get them to eat any kind of food they can get their hands on and defeat it. The Pink Slime Gordo is not at all choosy. Phosphorus Gordo Slime A very cool and fun slime in Slime Rancher 2 is called the Phosphorus Gordo Slime. The slimes look like bugs of lightning and have these green slugs inside of them, and it is so hard to resist just squeezing and squishing them! They are the kinds of slimes that every player, and we mean including us, would want to have existed in our real world. Finding the location of Pink Slimes would not take much of your time. However, we have described its location of it in detail in our guide.  Once the players are in the conservatory, they should start moving towards the side of the south and stop once they have found a ramp. The ramp will be seen located near a water body. So keep looking for it around the water, and you will find it for sure! Moreover, on the ramp, keep walking downwards, and you will also find a cave. Head inside the cave, and you will see Phosphorus Gordo Slime in there. To get the slime defeated, make sure you feed him tons of fruits.  Hunter Slime Gordo Hunter Slimes Gordo is so cute that the players will love finding them even if they did not offer any special rewards. Also, the locations for finding Hunter Slime Gordo are not that far, nor a difficulty.  However, players need to make sure that they have gotten the region of Starlight Strand unlocked beforehand. After it is accessible, start moving around and discovering more of that place. Along the way, you will lay your eyes on a field where there will be several cute little pink rock slimes everywhere. But you do not have to stop there; keep moving and going further unless you come across a little pathway. On that way, you will see the glorious hunter slime Gordo. Moreover, players need to make sure they got a hand full of meat to defeat the Gordo Slime in the game.  Wrap Up These are all the locations of Gordo Slime in Slime Rancher 2. Make sure to look at all the places mentioned carefully so that you do not miss out on any slime. Get the slime in your hands and beat them by feeding them various foods. Best New Crypto Coin Listing Is Tamadoge The Next Shiba Inu Dogecoin Or GMT Cryptonews
Best New Crypto Coin Listing Is Tamadoge The Next Shiba Inu Dogecoin Or GMT Cryptonews
Best New Crypto Coin Listing – Is Tamadoge The Next Shiba Inu, Dogecoin Or GMT – Cryptonews https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/best-new-crypto-coin-listing-is-tamadoge-the-next-shiba-inu-dogecoin-or-gmt-cryptonews/ Disclaimer: The Industry Talk section features insights by crypto industry players and is not a part of the editorial content of Cryptonews.com. Tamadoge (TAMA) will list on OKX exchange Sep 27 at 11:00 UTC and aims to combine the appeal to investors of meme coins like SHIB and DOGE with a P2E game, incorporating metaverse and move to earn mechanics. Is the best new coin listing to watch this week? New crypto TAMA is the in-game currency and rewards token of the Tamadoge battle app, used to mint virtual pets tokenized as NFTs and earnt by players in its ecosystem. This week Capital.com reviewed the Tamadoge project – another indicator its initial exchange offering (IEO) could perform well. OKX New Coin Listing Announcement Next GMT Tamadoge raised 19 million USDT in its token presale in under two months, from July 25 – Sep 18, attracting a high level of investor interest despite crypto prices trending down – Bitcoin and Ethereum are still trading under $20,000 and $1,500 this week. That high demand eclipsed most crypto presales, private sales or initial coin offerings (ICOs) of 2021 or 2022 – for example the STEPN (GMT) token sale raised just $9.2 million, which included investment from crypto VCs such as Binance Labs, Alameda Research, Sequoia Capital and other big names. Coverage in CNBC at the 15 million USDT point may also have helped push the new crypto token’s seed round funding over the finish line a month earlier than planned on the Tamadoge roadmap. Yahoo Finance also highlighted TAMA as early as its beta sale. Across crypto news media, Tamadoge has made headlines in BeInCrypto, Bitcoinist, NewsBTC, The Cryptonomist, ZyCrypto, and others – TAMA combines the most popular sectors of cryptocurrency as a play to earn crypto asset, a meme coin and having upcoming metaverse and move to earn features. GMT at its peak hit a $2.5 billion live market cap – topping out at $4.18 with a circulating supply of 600 million (10% of its total supply, 6 billion). Its ICO price was $0.64, and its bull run took place while the Bitcoin price was in a downtrend – early March to late April 2022. Tamadoge will launch with a 1 billion circulating supply (50% of its total supply of 2 billion), at a listing price of $0.03 – an initial market cap of $30 million. Achieving the same market capitalization STEPN reached eight weeks from its launch would mean a TAMA price target of $2.50, an 83.3x gain.  Today since its correction GMT has a market cap of just over $380 million – which TAMA would hit at $0.38 per token – a 12.6x gain from launch. Unlike GMT, TAMA is deflationary with an in-built token burn on Tamadoge store transactions – when players upgrade their Tamadoge NFT pets with accessories, or buy food for them – and having a higher percentage of its token supply unlocked at its IEO could also help support the price. Tamadoge also has no expensive barrier to entry like STEPN – in its M2E crypto game, players were required to buy NFT sneakers. The explosive bull cycle of GMT took place during a time period in which NFT sneakers had a floor price of around 12 Solana (SOL) – a testament to how popular apps that pay users in crypto are. Next Shiba Inu Shiba Inu initially dumped after its Binance listing (May 2021, and its Coinbase listing was in January) and hit a low of 0.00000510 USDT four months later in September It then exploded 17.3x to 0.00008854, mostly based on hype and FOMO – since then it has retraced most of its bull run, now trading slightly over 0.00001. At press time the Shiba Inu price is up, however its market structure is still bearish – printing lower highs and lower lows. Even after its approximately 90% correction from the top, Shiba Inu has a market cap of $6.4 billion today and fully diluted valuation (FDV) of closer to $7 billion. All with little utility or incentive to hold SHIB. Tamadoge could potentially be the next cryptocurrency to explode with its Doge aesthetics and more concrete use case, being the native currency of a play to earn crypto game – something Shiba Inu is beginning to explore with the recent launch of its Shiba Eternity P2E game. Next Dogecoin The Dogecoin price is up today by 10% – but at the time of writing its $0.06 – $0.07 price range is an almost 92% retracement from its all time high of $0.74 hit in May 2021 just before Elon Musk appeared on Saturday Night Live. Since launch, the Dogecoin total supply increased from 100 billion to almost 133 billion – DOGE is an inflationary asset with an infinite supply (no maximum supply). That aspect of its tokenomics will have contributed to its correction over the last 17 months. Terra Classic (LUNC) dominating the crypto news headlines in recent weeks for becoming a deflationary asset – the LUNC Burn is again in the news this week, covered on the Binance blog – will have raised awareness for many investors that deflationary cryptocurrency coins are a better investment. Tamadoge could also be predicted to perform well after its initial exchange listing, due to its deflationary tokenomics. Best New Crypto Listing on OKX Tamadoge having its IEO on OKX – with more crypto exchange listings to follow – is another potential bullish catalyst for TAMA being the best new crypto coin to invest in. OKX has an exchange score of 6.1 on CoinMarketCap and a green rating – which CMC only awards to 21 top tier crypto exchanges. That exchange platform score is based on a variety of metrics including how trustworthy and safe an exchange is, its daily trading volume ($1.6 billion in the past 24 hours for OKX), and number of cryptocurrencies listed. Other big names like Bitmex, Delta exchange, Phemex, Bittrex, Poloniex and Bitmart have a lower score and orange rating on CMC. The video above posted to the Tamadoge YouTube channel explains how to buy Tamadoge when it is listed – OKX also has a separate DEX for those unable to use its CEX. Tamadoge will also have its initial DEX offering (IDO) on OKX the same day six hours after the CEX listing at 17:00 UTC. As well as Tamadoge potentially being the best new coin listing this month, new OKX signups have a chance to win a mystery box valued at $10,000. Visit OKX  Visit OKX DEX

And while COVID-19 is notoriously unpredictable and many restrictions have been lifted, there’s a good chance COVID cases will rise again this winter. During this year’s Southern Hemisphere winter, the flu returned to some countries like Australia, where it started ramping up months earlier than usual and caused one of the worst flu seasons in recent years. The combination of flu and coronavirus cases could seriously strain the health system, according to Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease professor at Vanderbilt University. The flu causes between an estimated 140,00 and 710,000 hospitalizations annually, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC is reporting that the flu is already starting to spread in parts of the south like Texas, and experts caution that very young kids who have not been exposed to flu for two years may be especially vulnerable. But experts doubt COVID and flu will hit the country at the same time because of something known as “viral interference,” a phenomenon that occurs when infection with one virus reduces the risk of catching another. “These two viruses may still both occur during the same season, but my gut feeling is they’re going to happen sequentially rather than both at the same time,” said Dr. Richard Webby, an infectious disease specialist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “So I’m less concerned about the twindemic.” But Webby and others are still urging people to make sure everyone in their family gets a flu shot as soon as possible, especially if flu season arrives early. Friday, September 23 11:12 a.m.: California is easing mask-wearing recommendations California’s Department of Public Health released updated guidance for the use of face masks, dropping the recommendation for universal mask wearing in indoor public spaces. Moving forward, the CDPH will follow the CDC’s Community Level Tracker in making mask-wearing recommendations. The state plans to only strongly recommend mask wearing in crowded indoor settings for all residents when the community level is high. It’ll also allow certain congregate settings — including correctional facilities, homeless and emergency shelters and cooling centers — to be mask optional. This new guidance only applies when COVID-19 levels are low. As of Friday, Sacramento county is in a low community spread level. You can check your county with the CDC Community Level Tracker. Masking changes will take effect this Friday, Sept. 23, and don’t apply to health care and long-term care settings. “This shift in masking is consistent with California’s SMARTER Plan and gives Californians the information they should consider when deciding when to wear a mask, including the rate of spread in the community and personal risk,” said CDPH Director and State Public Health Officer Tomás Aragón in a statement. Here’s the CDPH’s masking recommendations, according to a deparment press release: When community COVID-19 levels are low, those at a lower risk for severe illness can choose to skip masking. Those at higher risk should consider wearing masks in crowded indoor public places. When community levels are media, those at a lower risk for severe illness to consider wearing masks in crowded indoor places. It’s recommended to wear a mask in crowded indoor spaces for those at higher risk. When community levels are high, it is recommended that everyone wears a mask indoors. Californians at higher risk for severe illness, including people who are unvaccinated, immunocompromised, have certain disabilities or underlying health conditions should take extra COVID-19 precautions. Thursday, September 22 11:16 a.m.: DOJ charges 48 people in COVID-19 pandemic funds scheme The Department of Justice has charged 48 people in what prosecutors have called a scheme to take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic to fraud the U.S. government of $250 million. According to the Associated Press, prosecutors say the defendants obtained government funds under the guise of providing food to underprivileged children. But just a tiny fraction of the money went toward feeding kids, and the rest was instead laundered through shell companies and spent on property, luxury cars and travel. Prosecutors say it is the largest fraud case to date that deals with the misuse of government funds during the pandemic. 10:49 a.m.: Florida man pleads guilty to $7.2 million COVID-19 relief fraud A Florida man who fled the U.S. and was eventually arrested in Croatia has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $7.2 million in COVID-19 relief funds. As reported by the Associated Press, court records show that 46-year-old Don Cisternino pleaded guilty Tuesday in Orlando federal court to wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and illegal money transaction. He faces up to 32 years in federal prison at a scheduled hearing for Jan 5. According to the plea agreement, Cisternino submitted a fraudulent loan application for a Paycheck Protection Program loan in May 2020. He claimed his company had 441 employees and monthly payroll expenses in 2019 of more than $2.8 million. The company actually had no employees other than Cisternino. Wednesday, September 21 12:28 p.m.: FDA concedes delays in response to baby formula shortages U.S. health regulators say their response to the ongoing infant formula shortage was slowed by delays in processing a whistleblower complaint and test samples from the nation’s largest formula factory. According to the Associated Press, the Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday published its first formal report detailing the factors that led to the shortage, which forced the U.S. government to import formula from overseas. The report highlights several key problems at the regulatory agency. Those include unclear procedures for vetting whistleblower complaints about company violations. The FDA also noted that it had to reschedule its initial inspection of the Abbott plant due to cases of COVID-19 among company staff. That delay came on top of earlier missed inspections because the agency pulled its inspectors from the field during the pandemic. 11:42 a.m.: ‘Our world is in peril’: UN leaders push for solutions The world’s problems are seizing the spotlight as the U.N General Assembly’s yearly meeting of world leaders opens. As reported by the Associated Press, the conference began on Tuesday with dire assessments of a planet beset by escalating crises and conflicts that an aging international order seems increasingly ill-equipped to tackle. U.N Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says the world is “gridlocked in colossal global dysfunction.” After two years when many leaders weighed in by video because of the coronavirus pandemic, now presidents, premiers, monarchs, and foreign ministers have gathered almost entirely in person for diplomacy’s premier global event. Speakers worried about a changing climate, spiking fuel prices, food shortages, economic inequality, migration, disinformation, discrimination, hate speech, public health and more. Tuesday, September 20 12:01 p.m.: Federal authorities say they’ve uncovered largest COVID-19 fraud scheme yet Federal authorities have charged 47 people in what they’re calling the largest fraud scheme yet to take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic by stealing and defrauding the government of $250 million. Documents made public Tuesday charge the defendants with counts including conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering and bribery, as reported by the Associated Press. Prosecutors say the defendants created companies that claimed to be offering food to thousands of low-income children across Minnesota, then sought reimbursement through a federal program. However, prosecutors say few meals were actually served, and the defendants used the money to buy luxury cars, property and jewelry. “This $250 million is the floor,” Andy Luger, the U.S. attorney for Minnesota, said at a news conference. “Our investigation continues.” This year, the U.S. Justice Department has made prosecuting pandemic-0related fraud a priority and has stepped up enforcement actions. 11:30 a.m.: ‘Out of control’ STD situation prompts call for changes Sharply rising cases of some sexually transmitted diseases are prompting U.S. health officials to call for new prevention and treatment efforts. According to the Associated Press, infection rates for some STDs, including gonorrhea and syphilis, have been rising for years. Last year, the rate of syphilis cases reached its highest since 1991, and the total number of cases hit its highest since 1948. HIV cases are also on the rise, up 16% last year. And an international outbreak of monkeypox, which is being spread mainly between men who have sex with other men, has further highlighted the nation’s worsening problem with disease mainly spread through sex.  Monkeypox’s arrival added a sizeable burden to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The organization sent state and local health departments a letter saying that their HIV and STD resources could be used to fight t...

Multilateral Group Pushing For More Realistic Female Representation In Games – DualShockers https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/multilateral-group-pushing-for-more-realistic-female-representation-in-games-dualshockers/ A group with members from the gaming and hygiene industries have launched a new female self-esteem campaign to encourage more inclusion and diversity among female characters in the gaming world. The team at Real Virtual Beauty, made up of activist group Women in Games, Israeli-based game studio Toya, Epic Games’ Unreal Engine Education Team, and skin and hair-care manufacturer Dove, aims to build the confidence of female and femme-presenting gamers, which it feels are grossly misrepresented in games. According to the group’s figures, 60 percent of all girls will have played video games before they reach the age of 13, and 1.3 billion women and girls comprise half of all gamers. This data comes close to tracking with a study last month conducted by DataProt, which concluded that there are 3.24 billion gamers worldwide and 46 % of U.S. gamers are female. The campaign, launched September 23, will be utilizing a variety of methods to increase awareness of lack of representation across female characters in gaming and its effect on players. One of the most visible and familiar will be inclusion in Dove’s well-known Real Beauty campaign, which features images of a variety of women and femme-presenting people who go beyond the Hollywood-ized definition of beauty and groups them together against a plain, white background. Already, the group has released a few such images, which depict real-world women mirrored against computer-generated avatars that actually resemble them. The collection of Real Virtual Beauty artwork will be made available on the Epic Games’ Art Station platform. For a more technical spin, the group has also put together an online training program for games industry professionals, covering such topics as body functionality, appearance, costume, and performance, with the hope of influencing character designers to be more mindful of the way they depict female characters appearing in their games. “What’s so important here is that the innovative tools, and training reach the target audience, where there is the opportunity to make a real impact,” said Women In Games CEO Marie-Claire Isaaman via press release. “Women in Games are resolutely behind supporting that to happen.” Although the outsider in a group of games-centric businesses and organizations, Dove is offering grants and awards for what it deems the best Real Virtual Beauty artist. “As part of Dove’s social mission in confidence and self-esteem, we are taking steps to tackle negative stereotypes in the rapidly growing games industry,” Dove Global Vice President Leandro Barreto said in a prepared statement. Is Natal Worth Visiting? What To Experience In This Brazilian City – TheTravel https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/is-natal-worth-visiting-what-to-experience-in-this-brazilian-city-thetravel/ There is always something to do in Natal – from shopping to exploring its incredible history and culture to nightlife. This gorgeous Brazilian city isn’t too big, and travelers can familiarize themselves with it in one or two days. When it comes to safety, Natal is one of the best places to visit, and since nowhere in the world is 100% safe, the city is definitely the safest in the country. Nestled in a small state, Rio Grande do Norte, Natal features plenty of stunning beaches, unmatched modern shopping centers, beautiful museums, and more. There is a lot to explore in this city, and every vacationer is bound to find something interesting. Is Natal worth visiting? Let’s find out what to experience in this Brazilian city. About Natal City Natal is found on the northeast side of the country, on the Atlantic Coast. It is part of Rio Grande do Norte and boasts a population of about 600,000, making it a medium-sized city. It sits on the banks of the Rio Potengi and was founded in 1599. For several years, Natal has been a sleepy city, and was one of the least visited places, until the late 1890s. Today, the city has transformed, and now attracts travelers, especially from Europe and Northern America. Its major draws are the sun and sand, rather than itself as a city, and riding beach buggies has become the most popular activity. Vacationers will find several beautiful beaches, hotels, and incredible nightspots to make a vacation memorable. While many tourists prefer spending most of their days on the beach, busking in the sun, and taking in the beautiful atmosphere, taking a day off to explore other fun activities and attractions would be great. The city may look huge due to many attractions, but it’s actually small, enough to explore in a single vacation. Explore Natal’s Gorgeous Beaches Natal boasts gorgeous beaches featuring white soft sand and mostly blue waters, which travelers can enjoy almost year-round, thanks to an incredible number of sunny and hot days. The city is beautifully lined with palm trees, especially around the beaches, with specular dunes. Beaches are plentiful, each possessing unique qualities, worth seeing. Vacationers can only access some of these specular beaches by dune buggy, while others are urban and easy to reach. Many of the city’s beaches have colorful coral reefs, allowing for a great snorkeling experience. Some of the most impressive beaches to check out are Areia Preta Beach, Artistas Beach, Baía Formosa Beach, and Barra de Cunhaú Beach. Riding Beach Buggies It is almost impossible to visit Natal without riding beach buggies. Buggies have come a long way in this charming city, and have now become a source of income for the locals. Travelers can go on a half-day or a full-day trip, where they can ride north or south down the coast. Vacationers will find many tours along the coast offering full-day trips. The opportunity allows vacationers to explore the city’s coastline. There are specific beaches to get real thrills and spills, including those located to the north, including Genipabu. One can pay for a single ride or per hour. The rides can be a bit expensive, and sometimes may cost more than $100 for an hour ride, but the bugeiros offer incredible entertainment over the breathtaking sand dunes to match the price. Have adequate protection from the sun’s rays, including a tightly fitting round hat. Many hotels in the city work with buggy companies and vacationers will come across several rides offered at varying prices. Cost of buggy rides: between $25 and $50 per day Natal is brimming with incredible shopping opportunities that vacationers can explore during their visit. After all, no tourist visits a foreign place without buying some souvenirs and gifts to take back home. And what’s a better way to do it than strolling around some of the best shopping centers in Brazil? Some things to know about Natal City shopping. There is no cash payment in Brazil. Instead, credit cards are used, even in the smallest stores. If looking for a Brazilian shopping mall, explore the largest in Natal, the Midway Mall, boasting 270 shops, seven-screen cinema, four restaurants, and a theater. This place has everything one may need for great shopping. From local retail stores to boutiques from world-renown designers of clothing as well as shoe and perfume manufacturers. For travelers planning to combine a beach vacation with shopping, there are hundreds of colorful shops located just a few miles from the shoreline. Another thing to know about Natal City shopping is that the locals like to rest and spend time with their families on Sundays. So, Sunday may not be a good day to go shopping, but there are a handful of stores, specially designed for tourists that operate on that day afternoon. Experiencing Natal’s Nightlife – Where To Spend A Nice Evening Going for a night out, having some drinks, and enjoying live music is a common thing in Natal, and anywhere else in Brazil. Natal’s nightlife is vibrant, and the city stays alive even past midnight. The city’s nightlife hotspot is Ponta Negra, making it the best place to spend an exhilarating evening. The area is packed with lots of discos, clubs, and restaurants filled with night-time entertainment. Other than Ponta Negra, Prai da Pipa, Forro com Turista, and Cervejaria Via Costeira are some of the hotspots to check out for a good nightlife experience. How To Stay Safe On A Natal Night Out While Natal is considered one of the safest places in the country, it is still vital to be careful and adapt some security measures, especially now that the city is facing an influx of more tourists. Ponta Negra, the city’s most popular area for nightlife, has recently become more crowded. Now, thieves and pickpocketers are more likely to target places like that, so it is important to not walk around with important valuables, especially when going to drink. Instead, leave them back at the hotel, and only carry the essentials for the night out. Also, it is not a good idea to walk through dark alleys without company. Explore The City’s History And Culture After spending a whole day at the beach or partying somewhere in the city, having a relaxing afternoon in one of Natal’s incredible museums would be a great way to end the day. Museum Camara Cascudo: This is the largest museum in the city, and it’s a great place to get an insight into the history and culture of the city. Museu da Cultura Popular: Here, vacationers will experience the popular culture of the locals, displayed in pictures, handicrafts, writings, books, ad costumes. Instituto Histórico e Geográfico do Rio Grande do Norte: Here, travelers will connect to the city’s incredible history, showcased in magazines, photos, and newspapers, showing the earliest days of Natal City. This is the oldest museum in Natal. Is Natal worth visiting? Absolutely yes. With so much to explore, travelers will definitely have a wonderful holiday in this Brazilian city.

Decentralized Blockchain Protocol BZeroX Fined $250000 For Illegal Trading – Tech Business News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/decentralized-blockchain-protocol-bzerox-fined-250000-for-illegal-trading-tech-business-news/ bZeroX LLC and its founders were fined $250,000 in an enforcement action against the blockchain protocol Ooki DAO, its successor and an independent decentralized organisation. bZeroX and its founders, Tom Bean and Kyle Kistner, were fined by the CFTC for operating an organisation that provided leveraged and margin trading of digital assets without complying with the Banking Secrecy Act’s “Know Your Customer” identification program. The CFTC also filed suit versus Ooki DAO, the successor to bZeroX, for breaking the same laws and the government claimed that bZeroX transferred control of the bZx protocol to bZx DAO and then subsequently renamed it Ooki DAO in order to avoid being prosecuted. Bean and Kistner both oversaw the development of bZx protocol, a decentralized protocol for lending, trading, interest generation and other financial activities on the blockchain. A DAO is an autonomous organisation with no central leadership where decisions are made through community governance controlled by blockchain protocols and code. Members of the community earn a stake in the DAO by holding cryptographic tokens that allow them to vote on proposals submitted by other members. CTFC Chairman Rostin Behnam says the actions demonstrate the CFTC’s commitment to aggressively pursuing individuals and operations that purposefully seek to evade regulatory oversight at the expense of retail customers  “I commend our dedicated enforcement team for pursuing this scheme which touches on many areas of concern regarding this growing market.” says Behnam. Commissioner Summer Mersinger, however, did not concur with the commission’s decision and published a dissent stating her opposition. She concurred that the commission should target bZeroX as a company and its founders as liable parties because of their involvement, but she disagreed with targeting Ooki DAO and its token holders. “The CTFC did not have the legal authority to punish the DAO, whereas token holders were unfairly targeted. says Mersinger, ” Recently, the U.S. Treasury Department sanctioned Tornado Cash, a decentralized cryptocurrency mixing service allowing users to anonymize the origins of funds after accusing the service of hiding the proceeds of at least $7 billion worth of virtual currency from criminal activities since 2019.
