Conrad Sangma Rules Out Scrapping Meghalaya Regulation Of Gaming Act – Hindustan Times https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/conrad-sangma-rules-out-scrapping-meghalaya-regulation-of-gaming-act-hindustan-times-2/
A day after Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma told the Assembly that the government is rethinking about opening casinos in the state without renewing the 6-month temporary licenses of the 3 allotted firms, he ruled out scrapping the Meghalaya Regulation of Gaming Act 2021 as it seeks to prevent local people from ill effects of gaming.
Replying to a zero hour notice brought by Nongkrem legislator Lambor Malngiang demanding the government to scrap the Meghalaya Regulation Gaming Act and Rules, 2021 in the assembly, Sangma said, “The gaming acts and rules prevent locals from playing. Therefore, if this (Gaming Act) is scrapped then our youth can play and there will be no regulation.”
Revealing that the revenue from royalty has dropped from ₹600 crore to ₹100 crore, the chief minister reasoned that the intention of the government is to have a gaming zone to bring in revenue to the state. “We want to balance this entire process and ensure ₹500- ₹600 crore revenue and also protect the people from different activities. Hence, we thought of having a gaming zone at the border area so that our people are nowhere close to it. With that intention we went ahead with the process,” he said.
Elaborating on the progress of the online gaming process, Sangma said since January this year, eight parties have applied for licenses for establishing casinos of which only three were given provisional licenses in March valid for 6 months.
The process stopped after church leaders in May met him to express their strong concern at the possibility of such activities being permitted. “I told the church forum that it is never the intention to bring the casinos to Shillong but in an area close to Guwahati,” he said.
“I told the church leaders that there is no question of going ahead with this (establishing of casinos) without taking people on board. When I met the NGOs I told them the same thing that I had already committed to the church leaders that from May till this month, we have not taken any steps forward,” Sangma said. “We are here to work with the people of the state and it is the duty of the government to listen to the people,” he added.
He informed the House that all processes were put to a stop after the opposition to it and the applications of the five applicants have been stopped and no provisional licenses have been issued.

How To Get Pregnant With PCOS? 5 Tips To Increase Fertility Health Shots
How To Get Pregnant With PCOS? 5 Tips To Increase Fertility – Health Shots https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/how-to-get-pregnant-with-pcos-5-tips-to-increase-fertility-health-shots/
When trying to conceive, it makes sense that you would want to do everything in your power to conceive quickly. However, for women who have Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome (PCOS), their efforts may go in vain as it can be complicated to become pregnant with PCOS. The good news is that it is not impossible.
PCOS and pregnancy problems
An irregular menstrual cycle, absence of menstruation, heavy flow, short and light menstruation, and even spotting are all symptoms of the hormonal condition PCOS, which alters the menstrual cycle. This makes it extremely challenging for a woman to get pregnant. Additionally, PCOS symptoms such as obesity, excessive hair growth in unwanted areas, acne, and infertility are also present. Though the exact cause of it is unknown, it is thought and various studies have demonstrated that you can become pregnant with lifestyle modifications and a healthy diet.
Can a woman get pregnant with PCOS?
Yes, PCOS can be effectively managed with the proper treatment, a good diet and lifestyle, and specific expert interventions. Thus, it increases a person’s chances of getting pregnant and having a healthy baby.
Health Shots got in touch with Dr Ritu Hinduja, Fertility Consultant, Nova IVF Fertility, Mumbai to suggest how a woman can become pregnant while dealing with PCOS.
Here are 5 major tips to increase fertility with PCOS:
1. Reverse any insulin resistance
Women with PCOS often struggle with insulin resistance, which results in high blood sugar and insulin levels and increases the likelihood that they will experience conceiving difficulties. Dr Hinduja says, “To manage it your doctor can prescribe Metformin or Myoinisitol to help try cutting out sugar and refined carbs from your diet. Also, he/she can suggest that you make sure that you get enough protein, fibre and healthy fats.” With these changes, you will see your blood sugar levels and your insulin level drop.

2. De-stress
Balanced hormones and healthy adrenals are essential for fertility, but all of your hormones are impacted by the stress hormone cortisol, which is produced by your adrenal glands. So by actively lowering and preventing any stress, you can improve your chances of getting pregnant. To destress yourself you can perform yoga, meditation, breathing exercises and even fun activities to boost your mood. If your cause of stress are some serious mental health issues then check with a therapist.

3. Track your menstrual cycle
Women with PCOS suffer from irregular period cycles therefore it is really important for them to track it every month. “By keeping track of your cycles, you can pinpoint the precise four days in the month to try for a baby by learning when you ovulate and where your fertile window falls,” says Dr Hinduja.
Also, read: 7 expert-recommended tips to manage PCOS at home
4. Confirm ovulation with test strips
You can get ovulation kits from any local pharmacy, which function very similarly to a pregnancy test, to determine when you are ovulating. It checks your urine to let you know when you are most likely to become pregnant. If this test results in a positive reading, ovulation should start in one to two days. Therefore, those who intend to become pregnant should have sex within three days of the test. When an egg is released from the ovaries, this may increase the likelihood that it will become fertilised.

To determine how regularly you ovulate, keep track of when you ovulate each month.
5. Adopt a healthy lifestyle
A pregnancy with PCOS can be managed with changes in lifestyle that includes clean, plant-based eating and holistic living. Dr Hinduja says, “Target being in the healthy weight range, quit smoking, cutting back on alcohol, eating a healthy diet, get plenty of regular exercise and enough sleep.” A minor weight decrease might occasionally lead to more regular ovulation in overweight or obese women with PCOS, increasing the likelihood of conception.

EMU shocks Arizona State
Final: Eastern Michigan 30, Arizona State 21
Eastern Michigan survived a late run from Arizona State to edge the Sun Devils in a tight game. Amazingly, the win was the first ever regular season win by a MAC team against a Pac-12 opponent. Because of the distance between these two conferences, it makes sense that the conference rarely vie. The game was the first matchup ever between Eastern Michigan and Arizona State.

USC takes control
Early 4Q: USC 42, Fresno State 17
Logan Fife is playing quarterback for Fresno State now after Jake Haener was carted off in the third quarter. USC had an injury scare as well when Travis Dye needed attention on the field. But the Oregon transfer running back returned and is now over 100 yards rushing with a touchdown. The Trojans are doing well through the air as well as Caleb Williams is 22 of 34 for 245 yards, 2 TDs and no INTs.

Jake Haener carted off
Early 3Q: USC 21, Fresno State 10
Terrible news for Fresno State as star quarterback Jake Haener is carted off early in the third quarter after his leg appeared to buckle when USC’s Solomon Byrd tackled him for a seen-yard loss. Adding insult to injury, a fumble on the play sets the Trojans up in good field position. But the real concern here is with Haener, a warrior of a QB who stuck around at Fresno amid the transition from Kalen DeBoer to Jeff Tedford. Hopefully it wasn’t as bad as it looked.

Utes dominating
Mid 3Q: Utah 35, San Diego State 0
This has turned into total domination for Utah as San Diego State still has failed to surpass 100 total yards midway through the third quarter. Cam Rising has thrown four touchdowns for Utah with Devaughn Vele on the receiving end for two of them. Utah has scored touchdowns on five straight possessions after failing to score on its first four.

Fresno hanging around
Half: USC 21, Fresno State 10
After falling behind 21-3, Fresno State showed some life in the second quarter, drawing within 21-10 when Jake Haener found Erik Brooks for a 39-yard touchdown with 6:38 left in the half. The Bulldogs’ defense finally figured some things out as well after giving up three touchdowns on USC’s first three possessions as the Trojans just ate mounds of clock on 12-15 play drives. Bulldogs get the football to start the second half.

USC rolling
Mid 2Q: USC 21, Fresno State 3
Fresno State was a trendy upset pick here because of Jake Haener and because the Trojans’ defense looked suspect against Stanford. But it’s all USC so far as Caleb Williams scores from a yard out to make it 21-3 with 8:04 left in the first half. The Bulldogs don’t have an answer defensively and the Trojans are absolutely dominating the time of possession.

Arizona State struggling
End 1Q: Eastern Michigan 10, Arizona State 0
If you’re looking for one last upset to cap your Week 3 Saturday, direct your attention to Arizona State, which went three-and-out on its first two possessions while Eastern Michigan assembled scoring drives of 10+ plays on its first two possessions. Sun Devils going to need some heroics from Emory Jones in this one.

Washington impressive
Final: Washington 39, Michigan State 28
Another impressive win for the Pac-12 over the Big Ten as Washington State follows Washington State’s win at Wisconsin last week by taking Michigan State down 39-28 in Seattle tonight. Michael Penix Jr. threw for 397 yards and four touchdowns as the Huskies piled up 503 yards. Amazing the overnight difference in this offense between the Jimmy Lake and Kalen DeBoer eras.

Utah in command
Late 2Q: Utah 14, San Diego State 0
Things started slowly for Utah, but the Utes are now in command with a 14-0 lead. Utah has allowed just one first down on SDSU’s first five possessions. Aztecs having problems at QB with Braxton Burmeister in the injury tent. Utah has scored on its last two possessions after going scoreless on its first four. This is when Utah does its work: quietly in the night after the rest of the nation has stopped paying attention.

Pitt’s revenge
Final: Pittsburgh 34, Western Michigan 13
With third-stringer Nate Yarnell at quarterback following the injuries to Kedon Slovis and Nick Patti last week, the Panthers didn’t miss a beat offensively as they get revenge for last season’s loss to Western Michigan. Yarnell attempted only 12 passes but was efficient, completing nine of them for 179 yards, a TD and no INTs. Israel Abanikanda ran 31 times for 133 yards and a TD, while the defense held the Broncos to 180 total yards, with just 50 on the ground.

Clemson is…fine
Late 4Q: Clemson 41, Louisiana Tech 20
As has become the norm recently, Clemson didn’t blow anyone’s socks off tonight, but the Tigers have handled business against Louisiana Tech in relatively acceptable fashion. The Bulldogs got within 34-20 at the 9:20 mark of the fourth quarter, but the Tigers just responded with a 6-play, 65-yard drive capped by a 19-yard strike from DJU to Antonio Williams. Big ACC game with Wake Forest coming next week.

Gators survive
Final: Florida 31, South Florida 28
Florida survives as Spencer Shrader’s 49-yarder goes wide right in the final seconds. The hold wasn’t quite right, so it was impressive to see Shrader even get the proper distance on the kick. A bad snap set the Bulls back 14 yards and doomed a once-promising possession for USF. Tough one to swallow for Jeff Scott’s squad. That would have been a huge win for him as he is still seeking traction in Year 3.

NC State gets it done
Final: NC State 27, Texas Tech 14
This is a nice win for NC State, but it wasn’t particularly inspiring from an offensive standpoint, as interceptions and trick plays had a lot to do with these 27 points. This is supposed to be a high-powered attack with Devin Leary at QB, but the Wolfpack mustered just 270 total yards. Nevertheless, it was a less dramatic victory than the season-opening 21-20 win over East Carolina, and it improves NC State to 3-0. Considering that UConn is up next, the Wolfpack appear likely to be 4-0 at Clemson on Oct. 1 in what could be a game with massive ACC implications.

Florida ahead
5:05 4Q: Florida 31, South Florida 28
Trevor Etienne punches it in from three yards out to put Florida ahead 31-28 after a Gerry Bohannon interception gave the Gators a short field. This has been an unexpectedly tense situation for Florida against an in-state opponent who hadn’t shown much to this point. Now it’s on the defense to make another stand. Rushing defense has been the issue tonight for UF.

Arkansas back in front
Mid 4Q: Arkansas 31, Missouri State 27
On the heels of the 73-yard TD from Raheim Sanders, the Arkansas defense goes off on Missouri State, leading to a punt and an 80-yard return for touchdown from Bryce Stephens. First lead of the night for the Razorbacks comes with 9:16 left. This game has turned in a heartbeat in favor of Arkansas, which trailed 27-17 what seems like just a moment ago.

Quick strike
Raheim “Rocket” Sanders takes a shovel pass from K.J. Jefferson 73 yards to the house for a quick Arkansas response. The Razorbacks needed that, as they pull within 27-24 with 11:38 remaining. Huge play. Arkansas has 520 total yards.

Two-possession game
Jose Pizano just drilled a 31-yard field goal to put Missouri State back ahead by two possessions. Can only imagine the tension inside that stadium in Fayetteville right now as Arkansas takes over again trailing by 10 to Bobby Petrino’s FCS team. Just an unbelievable outcome unfolding before our eyes. Arkansas has been pretty good offensively, but the turnovers have just been brutal.

Arkansas in trouble
Start 4Q: Missouri State 24, Arkansas 17
Facing a fourth-and-1 at the Arkansas 47 late in the third quarter, Bobby Petrino kept his offense on the field. A play-action fake worked to perfection with quarterback Jason Shelley hitting Ty Scott wide open for a touchdown that puts the Bears back ahead 24-17. Petrino’s return to Arkansas has NOT gone as expected for the Razorbacks. Would be a wild result.

Pitt in a tough spot
Half: Pittsburgh 13, Western Michigan 6
Pat Narduzzi wanted to run the football more as the Panthers transitioned from Mark Whipple to Frank Cignetti Jr. at offensive coordinator. Well, they may have little choice in this game at Western Michigan. Down to third-string QB Nate Yarnell after injuries to Kedon Slovis and Nick Patti last week, Pitt ran 25 times in the first half vs. just 7 passes. Defensively, they’ve allowed just four first downs to the Broncos, who beat Pitt last season in Pittsburgh.

Strange game
Half: NC State 20, Texas Tech 7
The Wolfpack have mustered just 108 total yards, yet they lead Texas Tech by 13 at half, in large part because of an 84-yard interception return for touchdown by Aydan White that may have accounted for a 14-point swing. The Red Raiders did finally get on the board just before halftime but they surely feel like they should be even closer considering how little NC State has done offensively.

Florida in a battle
Mid 2Q: Florida 17, USF 10
The Gators are getting a game from South Florida, which has been able to run the ball well so far in the first half. Florida’s offense has been strong as well, though, as the Gators appear to be bouncing back nicely on that side of the ball following last week’s loss to Kentucky. UF just surged ahead with a 7-yard touchdown run from Nay’Quan Wright to cap an 88-yard scoring drive. Anthony Richardson is 7 of 9 through the air for 75 yards thus far.

Creepy-Looking VR Gadget mutalk Allows Metaverse Users To Scream Like Nobodys Listening Screen Shot
Creepy-Looking VR Gadget ‘mutalk’ Allows Metaverse Users To Scream Like Nobody’s Listening – Screen Shot https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/creepy-looking-vr-gadget-mutalk-allows-metaverse-users-to-scream-like-nobodys-listening-screen-shot/
Introducing ‘mutalk’, a new VR device created by Tokyo-based company Shiftall which acts as a mouth muzzle microphone that can capture sound directly from your mouth without the interference of background noise.
According to Shiftall’s website for the odd-looking technology, “the mutalk is a Bluetooth microphone with a mute function that prevents your voice from leaking out.” In other words, the device is designed to allow users in the metaverse to produce a lot of noise without fearing disturbing those around them.
The company goes on to state that the contemporary ‘pear of anguish’ comes with a detachable strap and can also be used for business purposes, such as conference calls. How lovely, a multipurpose netizen’s dream.
Although the main idea behind the mutalk is sound (no pun intended), many have been quick to point out the device’s creepy design and bizarre advertising pictures. Science and tech news publication Futurism described its publicity as “doctored stock images muzzling unsuspecting models with a white VR headset-shaped appendage covering their mouths.”
The article went on to stress how the “sensory deprivation” mouth-piece appears to look like an intense mediaeval gearpiece more likely to be worn in a traumatising interrogation or BDSM dungeon than in a VR enthusiast’s living room.
It should also be noted that Shiftall is owned by tech-giant Panasonic and boasts an impressive catalogue of unique virtual reality products. One of the most, shall we say, special designs is a smart mirror that comes with an equally helpful and daunting ‘benefit’—the ability to spot (and shame) an outfit-repeater.
NeSSA (Never Same Shirt Again) may well be your best friend or your biggest nightmare. The mirror digitally connects to the user’s calendar and, using a smart algorithm, infers from the names of attendees and events whether or not the (un)lucky owner’s current outfit has already been worn in front of the specific person they’re about to meet. If that’s the case, the mirror will automatically activate an inbuilt light feature and “warn” the user.
Thankfully, there are no current plans to collaborate with Amazon’s Alexa—a voice-activated response may be too painful.
Other Shiftall products include: HaritoraX 1.1, a space-saving wireless full-body tracking device and Pebble Feel, a VR experience and technology that allows you to customise and feel temperature preferences within the metaverse.
Virtual reality has continued to develop at great speed over the past few years. In 2020, robotic VR boots that allowed users to walk without actually moving forward made waves as a groundbreaking immersive experience. This technological feat, however, is now considered by many as child’s play in comparison to new products such as mutalk.
It’s both exciting and slightly terrifying to consider what the virtual future will hold.

The past year has seen an increase in global mobilization around feminist causes and the promotion of women’s rights. Alas, despite some notable victories in courts and legislatures, women across the world remain vulnerable to violence, oppression, discrimination, and violation of their rights—including the right to control their body.
Women of colour in predominantly white societies appear to suffer even more greatly from discrimination, as in addition to prevalent misogyny they have to contend with deep-rooted racial biases that limit their access to opportunities available to white women. In other words, minority women have yet another layer of prejudice they must obliterate in order to achieve genuine equality, whether in education, employment, or visibility on the political stage.
A creative attempt at tackling this problem comes from Debias VR, a tech company founded by Clorama Dorvilias and her business partner Jessica Outlaw that focuses on eliminating bias from the classroom environment. Dorvilias and Outlaw have developed a VR game called Teacher’s Lens, which uses interactive and immersive learning experiences in order to encourage educators to become aware of and ultimately transcend their gender and race biases.
Dorvilias and Outlaw cite various studies which indicate that in particular subjects (primarily STEM), teachers tend to favour male students, discourage girls from participating, and have generally lower expectations from students of colour. Dorvilias, a woman of colour herself, has also drawn her own experience with biased professors who discouraged her from embarking on a career in the tech industry in order to develop a tool that exposes and remedies classroom inequalities.
Teacher’s Lens provides educators with a VR headset which simulates the experience of a teacher conducting a class to a diverse group of students. Throughout the simulation, teachers are presented with various scenarios which potentially point out their subconscious biases, such as which student they’re inclined to call on first, discipline, etc. “Black and Latino students are disciplined at higher rates and tracked into AP courses at lower rates so it would be good if people would start making decisions based on data and examine some underlying structural issues,” said Outlaw in an interview for Motherboard.
One of the primary goals of Dorvilias and Outlaw is to remove all shame and guilt aspects from the process of debiasing, as the two note that often people are left with a considerable amount of pent-up resentment following a diversity training. “Bias training shouldn’t be there to shame,” Dorvilias tells Motherboard, “People should feel good about making others feel accepted. Debias isn’t something that you can work out in a day. It’s a behaviour that you have to work through. We want to give people the capacity to work in a safe and comfortable space.”
It appears that an initiative such as Teacher’s Lens may very well achieve this by simulating an environment that is truly engaging. As opposed to being lectured, educators who enroll in the programme have an opportunity to tap into their often subconscious thought-processes and experience in real-time the scope and nature of their bias. Furthermore, unlike many lecture-based diversity trainings, Teacher’s Lens uses personalised data that is accessible at all times and thus helps people monitor and track their progress over time, which encourages educators to make a real change in their approach.
What we often fail to acknowledge is that the damaging effects of racial and gender-based prejudice reverberate far beyond the walls of the classroom or office, and permeate all aspects of our lives. A society that is molded upon pillars of bias ultimately does an immense disservice to all its members. As stated by Dorvilias, “It affects society and our economy as a whole when you draw the line on what you think a person is capable of doing based on how they look. What limitations are we placing on society and our innovation when people in power put a cap on who gets to succeed and who doesn’t?”
Could technology be harnessed to promote genuine equality between the sexes and races? Dorvilias seems pretty convinced that it could, “The nature of VR has limits to it. Until people try it, they won’t really understand why it’s so powerful. Once they try it, they’re transformed.”

Through the CBB’s regulatory sandbox, Opennode is authorized to carry out tests of its crypto payment solution within Bahrain’s territory. Commenting on the central bank’s decision to authorize Opennode’s trials, Dalal Buhejji, an executive director at the Bahrain Economic Development Board said:
“We are proud to have worked with the Central Bank towards establishing a strong financial services ecosystem within the Kingdom of Bahrain. As a country, we have always been ahead of the curve in adopting Fintech solutions thanks to our regulator’s flexibility and forward thinking.”
Buhejji added that the CBB’s sandbox helps to ensure Bahrain fintechs will continue to innovate while adhering to best regulatory practices.
Adopting the Bitcoin Standard
For his part, Afnan Rahman, CEO and co-founder of Opennode, described his company’s planned tests as a watershed not just for Bahrain but the entire Middle East.
“Opennode’s leading Bitcoin infrastructure solution continues to pave the way for countries, governments and reputable financial institutions to adopt the Bitcoin standard and transact on the lightning network,” explained the CEO.

Australian Fish Fossils Get To The Heart Of Vertebrate Evolution The Indian Express
Australian Fish Fossils Get To The Heart Of Vertebrate Evolution – The Indian Express https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/australian-fish-fossils-get-to-the-heart-of-vertebrate-evolution-the-indian-express/

Scientists in Australia have unearthed beautifully preserved fossilized hearts and other internal organs of ancient armored fish in a discovery that provides insight into the evolution of the bodies of vertebrates – including humans.
The researchers on Thursday described the heart, the organ that pumps blood through the body’s circulatory system, in fish called placoderms that inhabited a tropical reef about 380 million years ago during the Devonian Period. The fossils were 250 million years older than any previously known fish heart.
The fossilized liver, stomach and intestine from these placoderms helped give a fuller view of the internal anatomy at a pivotal time in the history of vertebrates – backboned animals including fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals.
The fossils were found in a locale called the Gogo Formation in Western Australia’s Kimberley region near the town of Fitzroy Crossing. They are remarkable because soft tissue, unlike hard stuff such as bones and teeth, is rarely preserved as fossils and even less often preserved in a robust three dimensions, as these are, rather than flattened.
“The site is without a doubt one of the world’s most important fossil sites for understanding the early evolution of backboned animals, including the origins of the human body plan,” said vertebrate paleontologist Kate Trinajstic of Curtin University and the Western Australian Museum, lead author of the study published in the journal Science. Placoderms, known for bony armor on the head and neck, represented “our earliest jawed ancestors,” Trinajstic said.
The newly described fossils are of two species, named Compagopiscis croucheri and Incisoscutum ritchiei, both about 10 inches (25 cm) long with shark-like asymmetrical tail fins, jaws bearing teeth and blade-like cutting edges, and broad, blunt-nosed heads.
The placoderms had an S-shaped heart similar to that of a shark. It was made up of two chambers, with a smaller one on top and a larger one underneath, and was located at the front of the shoulder girdle in a similar position to sharks and bony fish today. Its structure differs from later vertebrates. Amphibians and reptiles have a three-chambered heart, while mammals and birds have a four-chambered heart.
In land vertebrates, which evolved from fish during the Devonian, the heart has moved further back along the body – or down from the perspective of upright humans. If a person’s heart was in the same place as these placoderms, it would be at the base of the throat between the collar bones.
The placoderm liver was large and enabled the fish to remain buoyant, as in sharks. The liver showed how placoderms had evolved away from the organ arrangement of jawless fish. In jawless fish called lampreys, the liver is squashed against the heart and envelops it from behind. The placoderms displayed a heart-liver separation like modern jawed vertebrates.
The placoderm stomach, shaped like a flattened and somewhat rectangular bag, has a distinctive wall texture, thick and honeycombed, apparently representing glandular tissue. The intestine has spiral valves to help with food absorption. There was no evidence of lungs.
The single biggest step in the evolution of vertebrates was the transition from the ancestral jawless condition, reflected in modern lampreys and hagfish, to the jawed vertebrate body plan, said paleontologist and study co-author Per Ahlberg of the University of Uppsala in Sweden.
“Today, the overwhelming majority of vertebrates belong to the jawed group: sharks, rays, bony fishes and all land vertebrates including humans. This transition didn’t just involve the evolution of jaws, but also all kinds of changes in the soft anatomy – for example the evolution of a stomach, and the heart moving forward into the throat region,” Ahlberg said.
“But while fossils give us a reasonably complete picture of the evolution of the skeleton, the equally important soft organs usually don’t fossilize at all, which means that we are left guessing about the details of their evolutionary transformation,” Ahlberg added.
Conrad Sangma Rules Out Scrapping Meghalaya Regulation Of Gaming Act Hindustan Times
Conrad Sangma Rules Out Scrapping Meghalaya Regulation Of Gaming Act – Hindustan Times https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/conrad-sangma-rules-out-scrapping-meghalaya-regulation-of-gaming-act-hindustan-times/

My name is Melissa Patnella and I am a physical therapist who has accepted the opportunity to travel with the organization Operation Walk to Ghana on November 10-19, 2022. On this trip, the medical team (6 orthopedic surgeons, 5 anesthesiologists, 10 nurses, 3 PTs, and other support staff) will be doing hip and knee replacements for the people of Koforidua, Ghana.
I am so excited to have the opportunity to use my medical skills to make real change in peoples’ lives, especially in a part of the world where this level of medical care is not as accessible.
I am asking for donations for this trip, as I am using my vacation time from work as well as paying for travel and other trip related costs (vaccinations, etc). Any donations collected beyond the cost of my individual trip will go to the Operation Walk fund for our group as a whole for more medical supplies and donations for their community.
Thank you!

7 Home Remedies For Managing High Blood Pressure Zee News
7 Home Remedies For Managing High Blood Pressure – Zee News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/7-home-remedies-for-managing-high-blood-pressure-zee-news/
Knowing how to control high blood pressure is crucial since it can be fatal. A blood pressure value of 140/90 mmHg or higher indicates hypertension. One is in danger of a number of significant medical diseases, such as heart disease and stroke, when their reading is so high. Knowing the fundamental ways of regulating blood pressure would be beneficial. Certain healthy lifestyle choices that should be a part of your personal life goals are necessary to maintain high blood pressure.
Read how you can apply these home remedies and lifestyle changes to complement your high blood pressure treatment.
1. Regular exercise
An active lifestyle is a crucial component of healthy living. Maintaining healthy body weight and remaining active are two of the most effective ways to control high blood pressure. Blood circulation, lung capacity, and heart efficiency can all be improved with exercise.
2. Cut down on Salt
One of the main ingredients in salt, sodium, has the power to attract water into your blood vessels, increasing the amount of blood that is circulated. This raises the pressure inside your blood vessels, raising blood pressure as a result. You should limit your daily sodium intake to less than 2300 mg to prevent hypertension.
3. DASH Diet
Dietary Approaches to Stop Hypertension is known as DASH. A DASH diet calls for consuming 4-5 servings of nuts, seeds, and legumes, as well as lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Encourage a diet high in protein and steer clear of fat and sugar. Add a lot of whole grains to your diet, such as brown bread, rice, pasta, etc.
4. Limit alcohol
Your heart may beat rapidly as a result of alcohol, which is how it works. Alcohol abuse that is extreme and persistent over time might raise blood pressure and raise your overall risk for cardiovascular disease.
5. Maintain a moderate weight
Low waist circumference and appropriate body weight are linked to a lower risk of cardiovascular disease. To prevent or manage high blood pressure, individuals are encouraged to keep their BMI between 18 and 24.
6. Garlic water
Due to its ability to increase nitric oxide synthesis, garlic water is a natural technique to control blood pressure. This chemical has a potent circulatory action that promotes blood circulation and relieves heart pressure. One way of consuming garlic is by infusing it in water and drinking it throughout the day.
7. Know your numbers
Make sure to frequently check your blood pressure at the doctor’s office or home. Although most people want to maintain blood pressure at 140/90 mmHg, it’s not necessary for everyone to do so. Consult your doctor to determine the goal blood pressure you need to keep, then strive toward it.
Foods that help lower blood pressure
1. Leafy greens
2. Skim milk and yoghurt
3. Bananas
4. Dark chocolate
5. Olive oil
6. Pomegranates
7. Fish with omega-3s
Although these home remedies for high blood pressure are helpful in addition to prescription treatment, they should only be taken under the guidance of a medical professional and should not be used in place of the medicine given by your doctor.

This weekend, the Bears face off against their owner in the first showdown of the 2022 season.

This year, the Bears have a new look, and are coming off a surprising-but-sloppy Week 1 win over the 49ers. With Matt Eberflus patrolling the sidelines and Luke Getsy given the task of squeezing the best football out of Justin Fields, Week 1 showed Chicago fans what a little bit of organizational competency looks like.
Will that translate into a win over their most hated division rival? Sunday will be the first litmus test to see.

First Virtual Saudi National Day Celebrations To Be Held In Metaverse – Al Arabiya English https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/first-virtual-saudi-national-day-celebrations-to-be-held-in-metaverse-al-arabiya-english/
A virtual celebration for Saudi Arabia’s National Day will be held on a Metaverse platform for the first time ever.
For the latest headlines, follow our Google News channel online or via the app.
Online festivities will include a computer-generated museum showcasing Saudi heritage from different areas of the Kingdom.
Players can purchase non-fungible token (NFT) outfits for their virtual avatars modeled on traditional Saudi attire from various regions.
Anyone taking part can also collect a ‘Proof of Attendance Protocol’ (POAP), a digital badge that verifies that they attended the event.
It will be held on the Decentraland Metaverse platform from September 22 to 24, with National Day falling on September 23.
The event is organized by marketing agency The Bold Group in partnership with the King Abdulaziz Foundation for Research and Partnership (Darah).
“Disruptive technologies like the metaverse are the future, and we at The Bold Group aim to be a key player in that evolution,” said Ziad AbuRjaily, Creative Technology Director at the Bold Experience Unit, in a statement.
“The idea to usher the Saudi National Day, a historically traditional celebration, into the new era of technology was inspired by the challenge of convening people across the Kingdom’s 13 different regions to celebrate Saudi Arabia in one virtual space.”
Abeer Alessa, Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer of The Bold Group, added: “We are activating the metaverse in an impactful way by paying tribute to Saudi National Day.”
“Fusing our past with our future, we are honoring the storied history of the Kingdom, preserving our heritage and displaying it with pride for people to engage within the new digital realm.”
Decentraland is a Metaverse platform built on Ethereum blockchain technology.
It allows users to purchase virtual plots of land and exchange virtual currency while playing games.
Ownership of land and other NFTs is tracked on the public Ethereum ledger.

Derby Slimmer Loses 11 Stone After Sleep Problems Almost Killed Her Derbyshire Live
Derby Slimmer Loses 11 Stone After Sleep Problems Almost Killed Her – Derbyshire Live https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/derby-slimmer-loses-11-stone-after-sleep-problems-almost-killed-her-derbyshire-live/
A disabled Derby woman, who once weighed in at nearly 24 stone, has shed nearly half her body weight in just 18 months. Before her weight loss, Charlie Eaton says she had “zero confidence” and even avoided appearing in group photos at her brother’s wedding in case she “ruined them”.
Back in 2018, Charlie suffered from “dangerously bad” sleep apnoea due to her weight, and one consultant even told her he was surprised she was still alive. Severe is classed as having between 30 and 50 apnoeas an hour, but she was having more than 100 an hour, with each one lasting up to 30 seconds. Sleep apnoea is when your breathing stops and starts while you sleep.
This was the turning point, as Charlie knew she had to act quickly before it was too late. The 38-year-old remembered some of the struggles she faced while tipping the scales as 23st 8lbs, and recalled the moment she realised her eating habits had to drastically change.

She said: “My weight affected every aspect of my life, I had zero confidence and just wanted to hide, to be invisible. I stopped seeing friends and family as I was ashamed of how I looked. It stopped me from getting jobs in the past.
“I always wore black so I could blend in and hide. Even at my brother’s wedding, I was so incredibly proud and it was the most magical day, but I spent the whole time trying to avoid the cameras as I didn’t want their forever photos being ruined because I was in them.
“Before I mostly ate takeaways, shop-bought sandwiches, processed ‘whack them in the oven’ no-effort kind of meals as cooking for one seemed pointless.
“I had dangerously bad sleep apnoea, and was having over 100 an hour and each one was lasting up to 30 seconds. The consultant told me it was so extreme he was surprised I was still alive, let alone able to string a sentence together.”
Charlie Eaton is pictured at her brother’s wedding, where she did her best to avoid group photos, in case she ‘ruined them’ (Image: Charlie Eaton)
Charlie says doctors told her she would be unable to lose enough weight independently and needed to have a gastric sleeve fitted. Despite being offered an operation, she was reluctant to go under the knife because of her hypermobile-type Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (hEDS), which causes her to have very flexible joints, as well as stretchy and fragile skin.
Explaining why she turned it down, she said: “Because hEDS comes with surgical complications and poor wound healing I was too scared to have the operation.”
Charlie, who also suffers from multiple sclerosis (MS), instead decided to give slimming one last try, joining Jackie’s Oakwood Slimming World group in April 2018. She lost 7.5lbs in her first week, seven stone in her first seven months, and 10 stone in 18 months, before gradually reaching and maintaining her total 11st 5lbs weight loss over the past year or so.
Detailing some of the biggest alterations she’s made to her eating habits, Charlie said: “I have a big appetite and I’m a huge carb fan so my favourite meals are anything involving pasta like spag bol, lasagne and carbonara.
“With the hEDS and MS, cooking is very painful, but then I’m in pain all the time anyway so I thought I might as well do something productive and give it a try. So I made the decision to make a real effort and started cooking from scratch. I’ve now got lots of gadgets and gismos that make cooking a little easier as well as buying pre-chopped frozen onions and garlic, so there’s less effort and less time spent cooking.
Back in 2018, Charlie weighed in at nearly 24 stone. Here, she is pictured before her weight loss journey began. (Image: Charlie Eaton)
“On a good day I’ll batch cook a lasagne or a Bolognese and freeze individual portions so that even when I’m in agony or my left side is paralysed then I’m still able to stick to my plan and just pop something healthy in the microwave and whack it on the plate with some salad.”
Despite eating much healthier and cutting out the takeaways, Charlie says she still regularly enjoys treats like burgers and chips and a bar of chocolate. She said: “I still eat chocolate most days, sometimes high fibre bars, burger and chips, fish fingers, even homemade KFC toasted twister meals.
“I save most of my syns for my sweet fix. I love a good pudding and have one every evening so I never feel deprived. I ‘slimify’ my favourites like tiramisu, profiteroles, eclairs and even cheesecakes.”
Thanks to her weight loss, Charlie today weighs in at 12st 3lbs and her apnoea has now been cured. But due to her hEDS and MS, she’s not been able to work for five years.
Her confidence has seen a massive boost, and she now loves wearing bright clothes. Charlie is however looking to enlist the help of a TV fashion expert to help her transition from wearing darker clothes more smoothly.
How Charlie Eaton’s old jeans and new leggings compare as she transitions from wearing dark to much brighter colours. She is still however hoping to get some help and expertise from TV’s Gok Wan. (Image: Charlie Eaton)
She joked: “This is a shameless public plea for help from Gok Wan. I’m still struggling because I’ve only ever worn black and baggy so I have no idea what colours or styles suit me.
“I always hated clothes because ‘big girl shops’ were never fashionable/cool and I’d only choose clothes on how well they’d hide my belly. Now I can grab anything out of my wardrobe, whatever I fancied rather than whatever hid me the best.
“I’m more confident now, I used to be absolutely silent in the group but now they can’t shut me up, no matter how hard they try.
“Fatigue and pain are a constant in my life, that’ll never change, but I don’t get out of breath anymore. I still have to pace myself, especially with the MS and transverse myelitis (when that flares up my left side becomes paralysed), but I’m now able to do more physio than ever before and that’s really helping.”
She will become a Slimming World consultant early next month, starting two groups in the city suburb of Spondon. She is looking for new members to join her at 4.30pm and 6pm every Thursday at the Old School from October 6 onwards.
Charlie added: “Groups are integral, the other members are always there when things are tough, if you have a gain or maintain they help lift you up and spur you on. We’ve all been there and had the same struggles with weight and food, it really is like a family.

“Not just help with weight loss, the group helped me with the big scary life stuff too, group and especially my consultant Jackie have helped me come to terms with using my mobility aids.
“They were with me when I started using crutches and they were with me when I first needed to use my wheelchair. No judgement or pity, just love and support. My group helped me to accept me for being me – wheels and all.
“I’m so excited that I have the opportunity to become a consultant myself. I can’t wait to help other members achieve their goals – not just to reach their target weight but to overcome those life hurdles and to grow in confidence, just as I have.”

FAYETTEVILLE— Bobby Petrino’s first game in Fayetteville since 2011 had the home crowd of 74,133 sweating inside Reynolds Razorback Stadium on Saturday.
Missouri State led by as many as 17 points and didn’t trail 10th-ranked Arkansas until 9:16 remaining, but couldn’t withstand a late rally from the Razorbacks, who won 38-27.
Petrino’s team gave the Hogs a scare, leading for a combined 34 minutes, 13 seconds of game time before Arkansas scored 21 unanswered in the fourth quarter.
“We came in and competed extremely hard,” Petrino said. “We had a good plan and were able to jump up and get a lead. And (we knew) it was going to be hard to hold on to it. They’ve got really good players and really good coaches, so we knew they were going to make a run back. I was encouraged when we answered and went back and got another touchdown, but eventually they wore us down, made a lot of plays and ended up beating us.”
After Arkansas hit a game-tying 27-yard field goal in the third quarter it only took five plays for Petrino to give Razorback fans flashbacks, dialing up a gutsy play call to perfection.
On a fourth-and-1 just across midfield, Missouri State quarterback Jason Shelley faked a handoff and tossed a dime to his star receiver Ty Scott, who was wide open at the Arkansas 29. Scott streaked down the numbers for a 47-yard touchdown. The play gave Missouri State the lead back and stunned the home crowd.
It was a play the Bears had been saving and was similar to a play Petrino called “Cowboy” while he was the Razorbacks’ head coach.
“We worked on it for a while,” Petrino said.
Shelley said the team had been waiting on the right time to give the play a shot.
“That’s what we’ve been working on,” Shelley said. “I think we got into the right situation, so we called the play and it was money. It worked right to perfection how we drew it up,”
Six minutes later, Missouri State team tacked on a field goal to go ahead 27-17.
It wasn’t a lasting advantage, though, as Arkansas avoided the upset bid. Petrino was proud of his team’s effort despite the loss.
“The only thing I was thinking about is how proud I am of our players,” Petrino said. “You know, they came in and did the best they possibly could do, competed as hard as they possibly could compete, put it all out there on the field…I think they all can look in the mirror and really be proud of how hard they played and how hard they competed.”
Petrino said he was so focused on trying to win the game that emotions from being back at Razorback Stadium didn’t faze him until he was walking off the field.
“I did very good at blocking everything out till probably after the game,” Petrino said. “It just hit me a little bit.”
He was able to catch up with several former players on the sideline after the game, including 2010 Mackey Award-winning tight end D.J. Williams.
“That was fun,” Petrino said. “Those are guys I battled with before and won a lot of games with, and they put a lot of sweat and blood tears on the field. So it was great to see them.”
Prior to Petrino’s arrival to Missouri in 2020, the Bears hadn’t been to the FCS playoffs in 30 years and were coming off a one-win season. Missouri State has made back-to-back playoff appearances and took Oklahoma State down to the wire last year.
“It’s been really fun to watch the players’ beliefs change, how much more they believe in themselves now,” Petrino said, “and how much their expectations have changed.”
Petrino said his main wish is to teach his team how to respond.
“We just wanted to focus on being tough, being physical,” he said. “I think the No. 1 lesson that football teaches players is how to be tough, how to overcome obstacles, how to overcome setbacks, how to take a hit and not blink and come back.
“It’s going to pay off for when they have to drive 12 hours with no sleep to take care of their sister who just went into the hospital.”

South Korea’s Ministry Of Science Rules Out Applying Old Gaming Regulations On Metaverse – CoinGeek https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/south-koreas-ministry-of-science-rules-out-applying-old-gaming-regulations-on-metaverse-coingeek/
Home » Business » South Korea’s Ministry of Science rules out applying old gaming regulations on metaverse
In a government briefing on Wednesday, South Korea’s Ministry of Science and ICT (MSIT) disclosed that it will issue fresh regulations for the metaverse instead of applying old laws. The ministry said the new rules would promote and trigger widespread adoption of the metaverse.
There are widespread concerns that South Korea would apply gaming laws to the metaverse and even treat the entire concept as a video game. However, Park Yoon-kyu, director general of ICT Policy under the MSIT, hinted toward a distinction among government administrators despite the striking similarities.
“We will not make the mistake of regulating a new service with an existing law,” said Park. He added that applying outdated laws to a new industry like the metaverse will stifle its long-term growth and innovation.
In South Korea, video games are banned from using cash rewards to incentivize players—a law put in place to prevent gambling. Rewards like non-fungible tokens (NFTs) are often given as rewards to distributed ledger-based games, and transplanting these laws to the metaverse would effectively ban gaming on virtual worlds.
Metaverse projects in South Korea have already instituted a reward system for participants, with some allowing for liquidation while others permit users to spend their loot online. Ifland, a virtual world launched by SK Telecom, has implemented a point reward system for users to liquidate their in-game earnings.
Digital assets and metaverse enthusiasts should brace for more announcements from the newly inaugurated committee in charge of the digital industry in the coming days.
South Korea’s metaverse push
South Korea’s new president, Yoon Suk-yeol, never hid his interest in digital assets, making them a cornerstone of his campaign. His presidency has seen a significant push in the country’s attempts to be the focus of the metaverse globally, with several policies being rolled out.
Since January, the country has invested nearly $300 million of its funds to create its metaverse ecosystem. Incentives were offered to entice companies to migrate a portion of their operations to the metaverse as it looks to cement its place as the industry leader.
The country’s foray into the metaverse is predicated on several grounds. First is the expectation of training up to 40,000 metaverse professionals in the country and stimulate its digital economy’s growth.
“It is important to create a world-class expanded virtual world ecosystem as a starting point for intensively fostering the expanded virtual world,” said Park.

From staff reports
DENTON — Naz Stinson was a surprise starter at quarterback for North Rowan on Friday, and the versatile athlete threw two touchdown passes to record-breaker Amari McArthur.
In the Cavaliers’ 40-6 victory at South Davidson to open Central Carolina Conference play, McArthur broke a couple of long-standing North career records. He topped Alfonzo Miller’s mark for touchdown catches as well as Bryson’s Gaymon’s mark for receiving yards.
Jeremiah Alford, who normally quarterbacks the Cavaliers, was still feeling the effects of a physical game with West Rowan.
“Jeremiah got banged up a little bit,” North head coach Nygel Pearson explained. “He was cleared to go for South Davidson, but we wanted to be extra-cautious, so we went with Naz.”
McArthur, a 6-foot-3, 190-pound wideout who has offers from Richmond, Elon, South Carolina State and Lenoir-Rhyne, did not get off to a dynamic start this season.
Through four games, McArthur, who earned the nickname “The General” during his monster 2021 season, owned a modest 12 catches for 150 yards and a touchdown.
Stinson hit McArthur for the touchdown pass that started the scoring at South Davidson. It was the 23rd TD catch of McArthur’s career.
The rest of the half belonged to North’s junior running back Jameias Morrow. Morrow had a 13-yard scoring run and a 30-yard scoring run. When a snap was fumbled, Morrow picked it up and bolted 73 yards for another touchdown.
South Davidson scored late in the second quarter. The Cavaliers took a 26-6 lead to halftime.
When a South Davidson onside kickoff was unsuccessful at the outset of the second half, North had great field position and scored in just 30 seconds. Stinson connected with McArthur from 27 yards out for his second touchdown pass and McArthur’s 24th career touchdown.
“We got Amari going a little bit tonight,” Pearson said. “That was good.”
When Stinson got banged up, Alford entered the contest and proved he was healthy. He hit Ason Best for a 57-yard touchdown with 2:12 left in the game. Morrow’s 2-point conversion run made it 40-6.
North generally beats South Davidson by more than that, but Pearson was satisfied with the effort.
“South Davidson is better than they were last year, and we were down quite a few guys,” Pearson said. “Most of them should be back next week.”
McArthur came into the game with 1,881 receiving yards and was able to surpass Gaymon’s school record of 1,990. Gaymon set that record in 2007.
McArthur is in the all-time top 10 for receiving yards in the county.
Now the Cavaliers have to get ready to host a hard-running Thomasville team that was whipped 35-12 on Friday by Salisbury.
North didn’t play well on the road against Thomasville last season and got pounded 59-18.

Northwest Cabarrus 67, South Rowan 6
KANNAPOLIS — Northwest Cabarrus (4-1, 1-0) scored 41 points in the second quarter to lead the South Piedmont Conference contest 60-6 at halftime.
“They were good on both sides of the ball,” South Rowan coach Chris Walsh said. “That’s an athletic team.”
It was 6-6 at one point, with South (1-4, 0-1) pulling even with the Trojans when Bronson Hunt took a snap, turned the left corner and out-ran the defense.
Hunt had 136 rushing yards and threw for 71 yards. Naceir Parker had a 57-yard catch. Parker and Trae Rucker had exciting kickoff returns.
•••
Concord 35, East Rowan 14
CONCORD — East (0-5, 0-1) had a chance in the South Piedmont Conference game until Alex Petroff’s 80-yard pick-six locked it up for the Spiders with about five minutes left to play.
Concord (1-3, 1-0) got its first win for new coach Darren Shepherd on the new turf at E.Z. Smith Field at Robert Bailey Stadium.
Keyon Phillips ran for three TDs for the Spiders and also threw a scoring pass.
East got a turnover and scored early in the second quarter to cut Concord’s lead to 14-7.
Down, 28-7, East got its second touchdown in the third quarter.
Josh Roman-Soto and AJ Goodman scored the touchdowns for the Mustangs.
•••
Hickory Ridge 45, A.L. Brown 24
KANNAPOLIS — Caden Haywood completed 19 passes for 355 yards to lead Hickory Ridge to a 45-24 win at A.L. Brown in a Greater Metro Conference opener.
Christian Hamilton had a monster receiving game for the Bulls (3-2, 1-0). He had eight catches for 220 yards, including a decisive 61-yard touchdown.
It was closer than it sounds. The Wonders (3-1, 0-1) led several times.
The Wonders jumped out 10-0 on an Ashnah Lowery to Gerard Evans touchdown pass and a 45-yard field goal by Ty Woods.
Jamare Robinson’s short scoring run gave the Wonders a 17-13 edge at the half.
Lowery’s 73-yard TD pass to Xavier Chambers gave A.L. Brown a 24-20 lead with 6:47 left in the third quarter, but it was all Bulls after that.
•••
Davie 37, R.J. Reynolds 13
FARMINGTON — Davie’s defense got 11 third-down stops to key a 37-13 Central Piedmont Conference win against R.J. Reynolds (1-3, 0-1).
Davie (2-2, 1-0) had a quiet night through the air, but had two 100-yard rushers, with Markel Summers getting 118 yards and three TDs and Taye Maddox adding 112.

People spending time at a beach party
A stroll along the beach while the sun is setting will undoubtedly make your trip genuinely unforgettable. Some of the crowded coastlines in North Goa are the ideal place to spend time with friends and family. The parties in the pubs and nightclubs appear to take you to a world of happiness as soon as the sun goes down; this is precisely what the western state is known for. The music also gets louder as the sun sets. The markets in the area are great places to spend some time looking through souvenirs, accessories, and clothing created by regional designers. Take a look at a few places you must visit-
1. Miramar
The Porta de Gaspar Diaz is a beachfront in Goa that is primarily recognised by the name Miramar Beach and is situated in the city of Panjim. As the delta where the river Mandovi mixes with the Arabian Sea, the Miramar shore is one of Goa’s busiest beaches. Without a doubt, going to this beach will improve your entire beach vacation. For individuals who value peace and quiet, Miramar Beach is the spot to be. At locations like Goa Marriott Resort & Spa or even Vivanta by Taj, you may enjoy your time unwinding, partying, enjoying the spa, or enjoying the street food and staple foods at restaurants nearby.
If you’re up for some action, head down to the neighbouring Cabo Raj Bhavan Hillock and engage in some water sports.
2. Caranzalem beach
Near Miramar beach in North Goa, close to Panaji, is the tranquil and picturesque Caranzalem beach. You may always satisfy your appetite while chatting with your family at one of the many restaurants in the area. While there are no shacks or sun loungers on Caranzalem beach, you can still organise your trip and have a hearty dinner with friends and family at one of the hotels or bed and breakfasts located a little further away from Miramar beach.
3. Baga Beach
The Baga beach in Northern Goa’s Bardez district is the beach that brings out the party beast in everyone. Amazing parties, thrilling water sports, and the renowned “Goa nightlife” can all be found at Baga Beach. With so many reputable bars, clubs, and tattoo parlours lined up to give you the best party night ever, it has to be your go-to place for an after-party. Evenings spent dancing to loud music and eating delectable food at the most well-known clubs in Tito’s Lane will undoubtedly be treasured memories.
4. Candolim Beach
North Goa is home to Candolim Beach, which is renowned as the epicentre of all soirees in Goa. It is an exceptional location for a bachelor’s party because you can keep yourself occupied during the day with water activities or other sports like snorkelling, jet skiing, parasailing, and even scuba diving. The Portuguese-built Aguada Fort is close to the beach, where you may stroll through it or opt to sit in the hot heat and let the cool air caress you. Stericycle Expands In Warren | News, Sports, Jobs – Youngstown Vindicator https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/stericycle-expands-in-warren-news-sports-jobs-youngstown-vindicator/
WARREN — Stericycle, the Illinois-based company that provides disposal services for medical and other waste internationally, is investing millions to expand its facility in Warren.
Site work already has begun to prepare for the 35,000-square-foot expansion to the existing incinerator facility on Pine Avenue SE just south of downtown.
Architectural plans filed with the city’s Engineering, Planning and Building Department show the addition is valued at $9 million.
The company paid the $70,610 building permit fee on July 19.
The addition is 26,800-square feet for warehouse space and 8,200-square feet of floor space, according to the company.
“Through this expansion, we’re increasing the footprint of our secure storage vault, expanding our warehouse and dock spaces, and augmenting our office space to meet increasing demands for medical waste management,” said Kelly Hilton, vice president, marketing and corporate communications with Stericycle. “Importantly, we’ll do this while supporting the creation of construction jobs bolstering the business community and the local economy.”
According to the architectural plans, the company is adding 10 docks, giving it 13 when complete. Also, the plans show a 1,960-square-foot DEA vault that will be made of 8-inch reinforced concrete slabs.
The company is targeting the end of 2023 for completion with operations to start shortly thereafter.
According to Hilton, Stericycle Warren has operated its steam sterilizer and hospital, medical and infectious waste incinerator facility since 1998. It treats medical and pharmaceutical waste.
The facility is at 1901 Pine Ave. SE.
It employs more than 60 workers “who do important work to help address the opioid epidemic by safely and compliantly disposing of unwanted or expired medications,” Hilton said.
“We also work behind the scenes in health care to help prevent needlestick injuries, keep pharmaceutical waste out of the nation’s drinking water and help stop the spread of infectious diseases,” Hilton said.
The company’s global corporate headquarters is in the Chicago suburb of Bannockburn, Ill.
It has many locations across the U.S., including several more in Ohio, plus in 16 countries internationally. The company employs more than 15,000 people.
In Warren, Teamsters Local 377 in Youngstown represents the plant workers and route drivers, between 60 and 70 of them.
Drivers earn a starting wage of about $26 per hour and plant workers, about $22 per hour.
Steve Anzevino, Local 377 president, and Rodney Bartlett, Local 377 business agent, said they hope the expansion leads to more jobs.
“Basically, they are trying to add some more docks because they are so limited with space and also, they incinerate drugs and stuff like that, so they are making more for room for that because all of that has to be caged up and locked up …” Bartlett said.
“Of course, we have high hopes that it is going to lead to more employees, but we’ll see how it goes once it is complete,” he said.

Among the company’s top products is the Good Morning Formula, which contains prebiotics, probiotics, fruits, vegetables, and herbs that help adults get their daily dose of nutrients every morning. It has a blend of polyphenols, an antioxidant-rich compound that supports digestive health and protects the body from oxidative stress.
Another popular formulation from the company is the BPS-5. This contains superfoods known to help maintain healthy blood pressure and increase energy. Its ingredients include Hawthorne Berry, Magnesium, Nattokinase, Gaba, and Grape Seed Extract.

Guardians Get 7th Straight Vs. Twins | News, Sports, Jobs – Warren Tribune Chronicle https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/guardians-get-7th-straight-vs-twins-news-sports-jobs-warren-tribune-chronicle/
Editor’s Note: Game 2 of the DH was not finished by press time.
CLEVELAND — Shane Bieber allowed one run over eight innings, Amed Rosario had four hits and the AL Central-leading Cleveland Guardians won their seventh in a row against the Minnesota Twins, 5-1 in a doubleheader opener on Saturday.
Jose Ramirez hit a solo homer on his 30th birthday and Owen Miller had a two-run double for Cleveland (78-66), which has won 10 of its last 12 games.
The Guardians opened a 4 1/2-game lead over the second-place Chicago White Sox (74-71) and a six-game margin ahead of the third-place Twins (72-72).
“When Shane pitches, it’s just a different feel because the innings roll by and it’s really fun to watch,” Miller said. “With him on the mound, he’s about as good as anyone. I’m glad we could get some runs for him.”
Bieber (11-8) won his third straight start, allowing four hits and walking none for the ninth time in 28 outings. The 2020 AL Cy Young winner matched his career-long streak of 10 consecutive quality starts.
“I’ve got to commend the entire offense because when they get us an early lead, it makes it a lot easier for the pitching staff and the defense,” Bieber said. “I found myself in cruise control in the middle innings. All in all, it was a good start to the doubleheader.”
Minnesota’s Matt Wallner homered in the eighth and went 1 for 3 with a walk in his big league debut, with his parents and fiance in attendance. The 24-year-old was the 39th overall pick in the 2019 amateur draft and played in this year’s Futures Game.
“It was pretty cool to do it against Shane Bieber,” Wallner said, smiling. “That was the pitch to hit, so it was pretty fun.”
Cleveland is 12 games over .500 for the first time since the end of the 2019 season. The Guardians clinched the season series against the Twins by winning Friday’s opener of the rare five-game series.
Louie Varland (0-1), a 24-year-old right-hander, made his second big league appearance following his debut on Sept. 7.
He gave up four runs and nine hits in five innings.
Reliever Aaron Sanchez allowed one run in three innings for Minnesota, which is 5-10 in September.
“It was an honor to pitch against Bieber,” Varland said. “For Matt to get his first hit, a home run off him, that’s awesome.”
Rosario had his fourth four-hit game of the season, including RBI singles in the third and sixth that helped build a 5-0 lead. Miller tacked on a two-run double in the fourth.
Ramírez homered in the first on a 421-foot drive to right, his 28th home run and 112th RBI. The All-Star moved into 11th place in franchise history with 191 homers.
“Ramírez is a great hitter,” Varland said. “Falling behind in the count to him is not something you want to do.”
Right-hander Josh Winder (4-4, 3.83 ERA) was to start the second game for Minnesota and left-hander Konnor Pilkington (1-2, 4.30 ERA) was recalled from Triple-A Columbus to start for Cleveland in his 10th big league stint this year.
REVOLVING ROSTER
Twins OF Max Kepler was placed on the 10-day IL with a sprained right wrist and Wallner was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul. Kepler, batting .227 with nine homers and 43 RBIs, had missed the previous four games.
TRAINER’S ROOM
Twins: SS Jorge Polanco (left knee inflammation) was removed from the first game of his rehab assignment with St. Paul after experiencing soreness Friday against Louisville. Polanco, who went 1 for 2, is being examined in Minneapolis.
Guardians: RHP Zach Plesac (right hand fracture) threw a bullpen session at Progressive Field before the game, but a decision on his next baseball activity has not been made. Plesac has been on the IL since August 30.
UP NEXT
RHP Joe Ryan (11-8, 3.83) starts Sunday for Minnesota after throwing seven hitless innings against Kansas City on Tuesday and getting removed after 106 pitches in a 6-3 win. Rookie RHP Cody Morris (0-1, 2,79) starts for Cleveland.

Cybersickness Could Spell An Early Death For The Metaverse The Daily Beast
Cybersickness Could Spell An Early Death For The Metaverse – The Daily Beast https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/cybersickness-could-spell-an-early-death-for-the-metaverse-the-daily-beast/
Luis Eduardo Garrido couldn’t wait to test out his colleague’s newest creation. Garrido, a psychology and methodology researcher at Pontificia Universidad Católica Madre y Maestra in the Dominican Republic, drove two hours between his university’s campuses to try a virtual reality experience that was designed to treat obsessive-compulsive disorder and different types of phobias. But a couple of minutes after he put on the headset, he could tell something was wrong.
“I started feeling bad,” Garrido told The Daily Beast. He was experiencing an unsettling bout of dizziness and nausea. He tried to push through but ultimately had to abort the simulation almost as soon as he started. “Honestly, I don’t think I lasted five minutes trying out the application,” he said.
Garrido had contracted cybersickness, a form of motion sickness that can affect users of VR technology. It was so severe that he worried about his ability to drive home, and it took hours for him to recover from the mere five-minute simulation. Though motion sickness has afflicted humans for thousands of years, cybersickness is a much newer condition. While this means that many of its causes and symptoms are well-understood, other basic questions—like how common cybersickness is, and whether there are ways to fully prevent it—are only just starting to be studied.
After Garrido’s brush with cybersickness, his colleague told him that he was in the minority and that only about 2 percent of people experience cybersickness. But at a presentation for prospective students, Garrido watched as volunteers from the audience walked to the front of an auditorium to demo a VR headset—only to return shakily to their seats.
“I could see from afar that they were getting sweaty and kind of uncomfortable,” he recalled. “I said to myself, ‘Maybe I’m not the only one.’”
As companies like Meta (née Facebook) make big bets that augmented reality and virtual reality technology will go mainstream, the tech industry is still trying to figure out how to better recruit users to the metaverse, and get them to stay once there. But experts worry that cybersickness could derail these plans for good unless developers find some remedies soon.
“
Garrido watched as volunteers from the audience walked to the front of an auditorium to demo a VR headset—only to return shakily to their seats.
”
The issue is actually something of a catch-22: In order to make VR more accessible and affordable, companies are making devices smaller and running them on less powerful processors. But these changes introduce dizzying graphics—which inevitably causes more people to experience cybersickness.
At the same time, a growing body of research suggests cybersickness is vastly more pervasive than previously thought—perhaps afflicting more than half of all potential users. Proponents of a “headset in every home” vision for VR must make sure first-timers don’t leave the experience and lose their lunch. A buggy beta hits differently when it’s your health and comfort on the line. And depending on how long the effects of cybersickness last for an individual, VR technology may not be just uncomfortable for them, but literally unusable.
“If people have this type of bad experience with something, they’re not going to try it again,” Garrido said.
Thanks to VR, Charles Oman has seen Earth from the International Space Station. He’s watched the Emmy-nominated documentary Traveling While Black, which immerses viewers in the history of race relations and restricted movement for Black Americans, using VR to give viewers a first-hand glimpse at what the Black experience is like. But he wishes he could have shared these experiences and all that VR headsets have to offer with his wife.
“She won’t wear the damn thing,” he told The Daily Beast. “She is very susceptible to motion sickness of all kinds, and she doesn’t like the dizziness and the uncertainty about orientation. And so getting over that hump, for her—she’s got better things to do. I think a lot of people are that way.”
If anyone could offer a foolproof solution to motion sickness, it would be Oman: He has studied motion sickness at MIT for 50 years, and has seen the field tackle the condition first at sea, then in space, and now in the metaverse.
Seasickness, space sickness, and cybersickness are all heads of the same hydra, caused when a person’s brain receives unexpected and conflicting signals. According to Oman, everytime the head moves, the brain anticipates how canals in the inner ear, the eyes, and other points in the body will respond and uses the feedback to rebalance. A mismatch between what the brain expects and what it gets causes symptoms of dizziness, nausea, cold sweats, pale skin, and fatigue. But what does that look like in practice?
An illustrative example of this mismatch befell the Roman philosopher Seneca, which he described in a letter written in the first century AD. As he sailed across the Bay of Naples on a rocking vessel, his eyes gave him signals that he was stationary while his body told his brain otherwise. Distressed, he told the ship’s captain to drop him off anywhere, later writing “I was suffering too grievously to think of the danger, since a sluggish seasickness which brought no relief was racking me.” (He ended up diving out of the boat and swimming to shore.)
“

”
Before NASA took interest in motion sickness in the 1970s, belly binders and ludicrous diets were touted as potential cures. Since then, researchers have developed tried-and-true methods of preventing the condition—such as medication that weakens the mismatch signals received by the brain, and exercises that realign your body’s feedback systems (for example, looking out the windshield of a car instead of down at a phone).
VR developers have taken some cues from these solutions. Some have introduced an artificial “horizon” in VR video that does seem to lower the severity of motion sickness—but unfortunately does not eliminate it completely. Most guidance recommends taking a 10 to 15-minute break every half hour to delay the onset of cybersickness, but these numbers have not been rigorously tested. For some, like Garrido, a short break is nowhere near enough time to recover. But was he an outlier?
Once Garrido saw what happened at the demonstration for prospective students, he decided to conduct a study to see how common cybersickness really is. Scouring the literature, he couldn’t find a clear answer because of the size of most studies: “Many enroll 15, 20, 25 people,” he said. “Since I’m a math person, I knew these studies had all kinds of problems.” With sample sizes that small, there’s a chance that the participants enrolled do not give the full picture of the condition’s effects.
So Garrido and his team decided to run their own study, recruiting 92 people to try the same VR program that first made him sick. In the VR experience, participants explored a 3D kitchen and public restroom, two environments that are commonly used in OCD therapy. They navigated around for 10 minutes with a joystick, a method of “transportation” that has fallen out of favor in VR game development in favor of simple point-and-click teleporting like in Google Maps’ Street View. (Garrido’s critics might contend the study is using obsolete tech, though it should be noted flight simulators and other applications that want to increase a user’s immersion will still employ a joystick, as it more closely mimics natural movement.)
In sharp contrast to the 2 percent estimate Garrido had been told, the results from his study, published earlier this year, indicated that more than 65 percent of people experienced symptoms of cybersickness, over a third of whom experienced severe symptoms. Twenty-two participants decided to stop the simulation before the 10 minutes were up.
These results should concern the developers of other VR applications, Garrido said, since the only movement in the simulations came from the users’ own actions (unlike, say, a roller coaster or flying experience). The experiences were designed to be tame.
“You can think of our study as a baseline because our environments don’t do anything to cause cybersickness,” he said. “The general trend is that as time goes by, people will get worse. You need to know that if you are planning a 20-minute or longer immersion.”
Cybersickness doesn’t just arise from the controls of a VR experience. It can be built into the fabric of hardware (individual headsets) and software (experiences, apps, and simulations). Kyle Ringgenberg, an AR and VR developer and the co-founder of software company Dimension X, said that there are two major sensory conflicts that lead to cybersickness in VR. The first is the same brain-body mismatch that leads to car and seasickness, but the second is a different physiological response—and potentially even harder to fix. When we look out at the world in front of us, our eyes automatically focus on an object based on its perceived distance from us. A VR headset projects images a set distance away from a viewer, but when a virtual object appears close, it may seem blurry since the person’s eyes are trying to focus on it as if it truly were.
The combination of these two forms of cybersickness can lead to headaches for users and developers alike.

If my iPhone doesn’t load a page instantly, I might grumble about it, but that’s the end of it. If my VR app stutters on me, I might physically get sick. That does keep people away from this technology.

Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Review: Androids Answer To Apple Watch SE Gadgets Now
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 Review: Android’s Answer To Apple Watch SE – Gadgets Now https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/samsung-galaxy-watch-5-review-androids-answer-to-apple-watch-se-gadgets-now/
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 runs Wear OS 3 and offers multiple fitness and health tracking features. The all-new Galaxy Watch 5 also comes with a temperature sensor which claims to measure the skin temperature and alert the user about the signs of fever. However, the feature is not very useful and is mainly a gimmick. Samsung also mentioned at the launch that the sensor will improve the overall performance of the smartwatch and that the company is working with the developers to find more particle usage of the technology. So, presently, the temperature sensor is not as useful as expected.
As mentioned above, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 comes with OS 3 out of the box. The wear OS 3 works smoothly on the wearable and it also comes with new editions. For instance, now the Google Assistant is available on the smartwatch and it works smoothly. Samsung has also improved its sleep tracking software and now it uses colourful animals to represent different sleeping patterns. You will also receive a designated sleep animal and the Health app then sets you up with a four-week course. The course teaches you about the importance of good sleep and also how you can improve your sleeping patterns. With all these features onboard, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 offers a smooth user experience.
The Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 works with the Samsung Health app which is not new to Galaxy smartwatch users. The app offers a neat, clean and simple user interface. It has a daily activity tracker which keeps track of your steps, activity time and calories burned. Same as its predecessor, the Galaxy Watch 5 also comes with an array of sensors which include heart rate, blood pressure, ECG, body composition, stress tracking, SpO2 and snore detection. The wearable is designed to automatically track multiple workouts and offer a fairly accurate reading.
The smartwatch also delivered correct data when we measured the heart rate, blood pressure and oxygen levels. The company has also included its famous BioActive sensor in the smartwatch. The sensor monitors your overall health by measuring your weight, skeletal muscle and BMI. Same as its predecessor, the feature works really well this time also.
Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 comes with GPS tracking functionality. But we are not really impressed with it as it has to learn more in this department from the likes of Garmin.
Overall, the Samsung Galaxy Watch 5 delivers a smooth performance which will be liked by many.

Billionaire Jeff Gundlach Discusses When To Buy Crypto — Warns Of Deflation Risk – Economics Bitcoin News – Bitcoin News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/billionaire-jeff-gundlach-discusses-when-to-buy-crypto-warns-of-deflation-risk-economics-bitcoin-news-bitcoin-news/
Billionaire Jeffrey Gundlach, aka the Bond King, has shared his view on when to buy cryptocurrency. “You need a true Fed pivot,” he stressed. Gundlach also warned about the increasing risk of deflation, noting that it’s time to be bearish on the stock market.
Jeffrey Gundlach on Fed Rate Hikes, U.S. Economy, and When to Buy Crypto
The founder and chief executive of investment management firm Doubleline, Jeffrey Gundlach, shared his outlook on the U.S. economy, stock and bond markets, and when to buy crypto this week. Headquartered in Tampa, Florida, Doubleline has over $107 billion in assets under management (AUM) as of June 30.
In an interview with CNBC on the sidelines of the Future Proof conference Tuesday, the billionaire explained that it is too early to jump on the crypto bandwagon as the Federal Reserve is likely to raise more interest rates.
Commenting on whether it is a good time to buy cryptocurrency under the current market conditions, Gundlach opined:
I’d certainly not be a buyer today.
Gundlach is sometimes known as the Bond King after he appeared on the cover of Barron’s in 2011 as “The New Bond King.” Institutional Investor named him “Money Manager of the Year” in 2013 and Bloomberg Markets ranked him one of “The Fifty Most Influential” in 2012, 2015, and 2016. He was inducted into the FIASI Fixed Income Hall of Fame in 2017. His net worth is currently about 2.2 billion.
In the Tuesday interview, the billionaire stressed that the time to return to the crypto space would be when the Federal Reserve pivots from rate hikes and begins its “free money” policies. Citing the Federal Reserve’s hawkish stance and recession fears, Gundlach emphasized:
I think you buy crypto when they do free money again … You need a true Fed pivot.
He added that investors should not buy crypto when there are only “dreams” of a monetary policy pivot.
The Doubleline CEO also cautioned about the increasing risk of deflation, seeing it as the key threat to the U.S. economy and markets. He explained that it is time for investors to become more bearish on U.S. stocks, noting that the S&P 500 could fall 20% by mid-October.
“The action of the credit market is consistent with economic weakness and stock market trouble,” Gundlach described, elaborating:
I think you have to start becoming more bearish.
While admitting that stock picking is not his forte, he said: “You always want to own stocks, but I’m a little on the lighter side.” Nonetheless, he sees emerging markets as the biggest upcoming opportunity for equity investors.
Citing the risk of deflation, he suggested that investors dive into long-term U.S. debt securities. “Buy long-term Treasurys,” he advised, emphasizing:
The deflation risk is much higher today than it’s been for the past two years.
Regarding the time frame, he clarified: “I’m not talking about next month. I’m talking about sometime later next year, certainly in 2023.”
Recently, Tesla CEO Elon Musk also warned that a major Fed rate hike could lead to deflation, echoing the statement by Ark Invest CEO Cathie Wood that “Leading inflation indicators like gold and copper are flagging the risk of deflation.”
