The Dutch duo of Tallon Griekspoor and Botic van de Zandschulp performed to their highest levels on the plodding hard court inside Glasgow’s Emirates Arena to win their singles matches in straight sets and clinch the Dutch victory.
The 48th-ranked Griekspoor went in ‘god mode,’ according to Tommy Paul, who Griekspoor defeated for the second time this year on Saturday, 7-5, 7-6(3). Griekspoor hit 17 forehand winners to Paul’s nine and held on all 12 of his service games.
Van de Zandschulp, the 2021 US Open quarterfinalist now ranked No. 35, also used his serve—11 aces and 10 of 11 service games won—and his backhand to the tune of eight backhand winners to get the best of Taylor Fritz, 6-4, 7-6(3), to finish 3-0 in singles in Glasgow.
“I’ve been watching singles on TV a lot the last couple of years since I’ve been retired, and it’s impressive how hard guys are hitting balls,” Bryan said. “How consistent they are and how great of athletes all these guys are. They’re sliding around the court. The drop shots the Dutch guys had today were phenomenal, and they serve-volleyed in the big moments. They played fearless.
“Tommy went toe-to-toe with them, though. That could have gone either way. There was a break-point let-cord that he missed by an inch. And then Taylor just missed a couple of serves when it counted. I’m happy with how everyone did. I’m proud of our team.”
Jack Sock and Rajeev Ram earned a point against the Dutch with a 4-6, 7-6(3), 6-4, victory over Wesley Koolof and Matwe Middelkoop. The American doubles pair went 2-1 in Glasgow to improve their Davis Cup record together to 4-1.

KOTA TINGGI, Sept 18 — The Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (Mosti) hopes to get a higher allocation from the upcoming Budget 2023 so that it can commercialise research and development (R&D) activities as well as drive startup companies.
Its minister Datuk Seri Dr Adham Baba said his ministry submitted a proposal via a consultation session with the Finance Ministry on Aug 31.
“We have submitted various viewpoints, such as that the R&D element can no longer be at the fundamental stage and that it must now be at the commercial stage. We must transition to that of a producing country instead of a consuming one as new technologies can provide jobs to the people.
“So, I have brought up the issue that new technology startup companies be given space next year to make progress on their R&D,” he told reporters after a Keluarga Malaysia Merdeka event here yesterday night.
Dr Adham, who is also a member of parliament for Tenggara, said Mosti has also been asked by the Finance Ministry to reorganise its strategies to ensure it receives a higher allocation.

The Biggest Gaming News For September 17, 2022 – TheGamer https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/the-biggest-gaming-news-for-september-17-2022-thegamer/
Here we are at the weekend after five days of solid work. You’ve probably been playing Splatoon 3 or whatever since getting up this afternoon, so you’ve most likely gotten behind on everything that’s been going on in the world of gaming, but don’t worry because I’ve got you covered. Today, we heard about how Respawn boss Vince Zampella thinks EA strayed too far with Battlefield 2042, Nintendo confirmed the correct pronunciation of Tears of the Kingdom, and Cyberpunk 2077 has been experiencing a revival. These are just our top stories and so read on for the rest.
EA Strayed “Too Far From What Battlefield Is” Says Respawn Boss Vince Zampella
Battlefield 2042 came out to rather mixed reviews last year. We’ve heard quite a bit about the game’s troubled release in the meantime, but now Respawn boss Vince Zampella has gone on the record with some rather poignant remarks. “I think they just strayed a little too far from what Battlefield is,” the developer pointed out. “They tried to do a couple of things that were maybe ambitious and grow the player count. I don’t think they spent enough time iterating on what makes that fun.” Zampella went on to say that “it’s not inherently a bad idea. The way they were set up and the way they executed just didn’t allow them to find the best thing possible.”
Microsoft Is “Going To Remain Active” On Acquisitions To Compete With Tencent And Sony
Microsoft recently made a huge acquisition with Activision Blizzard, but the company apparently has no plans of slowing down, let alone stopping. According to Chief Executive Officer of Microsoft Gaming Phil Spencer, Microsoft is “going to remain active” on acquisitions in order to compete with Tencent and Sony, both of which are giants in the games industry. “This is such a competitive market, I don’t think we get to press pause on anything,” Spencer said. “Tencent is the largest gaming company on the planet today and they continue to heavily invest in gaming content and game creators.”
Nintendo Confirms How The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom Is Pronounced
Nintendo has finally explained how players should pronounce Tears of the Kingdom. According to the developer, this would be tears like raindrops, not tears like holes in clothing. This of course comes after several days worth of confusion about the matter from fans of the franchise. As you might expect, the community wound up speculating wildly about the sort of content they might come across in the game, all of which is now effectively baseless. Oh, well.
Cyberpunk 2077 Player Count More Than Triples After New Update, Anime Release
Cyberpunk 2077 has been languishing ever since the game’s rocky release a couple of years ago. The developer behind the game, CD Projekt, has on the other hand never given up hope. This appears to have been well founded given that its player count on Steam has more than tripled ever since the spinoff anime called Edgerunners came out. The game is currently more popular on PC than Rainbow Six Siege, Stardew Valley, Elden Ring, Rocket League, and more.
Konami Developers Hope To “Keep Making More Suikoden Games In The Future”
Players have been waiting for another Suikoden game for years, but now they might finally have something to look forward to in the future. The first couple of games in the series are of course being remastered, but there could be another sequel on the horizon. “I can’t say anything specific right now, but we didn’t really want to have an end with just the remaster,” developer at Konami Yasuo Daikai said. “I would really like to keep making more Suikoden games in the future. So, we hope all of our fans will root for us and support us and we hope that we can deliver on those promises and you guys can enjoy them.”

Tips & Tricks To Always Stay Prepared While Travelling – Usatales.com – Usatales.com https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/tips-tricks-to-always-stay-prepared-while-travelling-usatales-com-usatales-com/
There is no such thing as an inborn savvy traveler, and you will inevitably make a number of foolish mistakes in the first few months of your travels. But with time, you will start to get familiar with the processes and integrate yourself with the tricks and strategies you must know while traveling in a new place.
Now, what if we speed up the process by helping you avoid those mistakes and prepare you like a smart traveler? From saving money and communicating with the locals to keeping travel insurance—there are plenty of smart tricks for you to follow in this article. So, what are you waiting for? Let’s get started!
1. Carrying a first-aid kit
It is the first important thing that you need to carry while traveling. It’s true you will find modern medicines everywhere you go. But keeping a small first-aid kit with you will be a good decision. You can carry Band-Aids, antibacterial ointments, eyedrops, scissors, hydrocortisone cream, and some doctor-prescribed common drugs for stomach illness, headache, or antibiotics you may need in the case of any emergency. Carry the best multitool with you for the best results.
2. Keeping a reusable water bottle
Well, it’s not like you will get lost in the desert or jungle. But it is always good to stay prepared all the time. Keeping a reusable water bottle and a filter comes with two benefits. First, it will save a good amount of money, and second, it will prevent the use of single-use plastics that ultimately ends up in the rivers, oceans, and lakes. Yeah, we need to keep our environment pollution-free also while traveling.
3. Keeping some cash
We don’t carry money as ATM cards are around these days. And it’s pretty handy instead of keeping cash with you. But you must know that a small amount of money can protect you in an emergency. You might get stuck in the airport and find out your cards are not working. What will you do then?
So, it is recommended to carry around USD 200 for emergency purposes. But never carry this amount of cash while traveling as you might get robbed or lose your wallet. Just leave the money in your hotel room and enjoy your traveling.
4. Studying the local language
Now don’t think that you need to learn a whole language. But learning small phrases like goodbye, thank you, good morning, and hello will help you make interaction easy with local people. Besides that, it will be helpful for you when you shop, order food or drinks, or need help from the locals.
Another thing that you can apply is studying nonverbal communication. You can practice this by understanding the facial expressions of the people. It will help you a lot if you don’t know the local language.
5. Carrying copies of passport & other essential documents
Getting robbed or losing the original copies of your passport and other important documents like travel or health insurance might fall you in a difficult situation. So, keeping digital copies of them is always a good idea while traveling. Keeping the copies will help you file police reports and get the new documents easily.
6. Keep in touch with your close ones
It is necessary to stay in touch with your friends or family members when you go on a long holiday. There should be someone who knows about your itinerary and your plans. Also, keep them updated if you make any changes during your trip.
But you might think it will be a hassle, but staying safe is the most important thing at the end of the day. Moreover, try to keep the emergency numbers on your mobile. If something happens to you, it will help medical professionals to contact the people you know.
7. Having the travel insurance
Yeah, I think this is the most important thing you need when you prepare for a vacation. Keeping travel insurance is nothing but a blessing when you visit the hospital for getting sick on the road or breaking your leg in an accident. Obviously, nothing will happen to you, but it’s good to always stay in your comfort zone.
How about a bonus tip for you?
So, are you planning your vacation on a beautiful beach? Well, that’s good. But do you know about that area? Yes, gathering some information about the place is always a good idea before traveling there. Knowing etiquette and basic rules of an area will help you avoid misunderstandings you might face while traveling.

Common Ground Hosts Event To Promote Healthy Living – News10NBC https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/common-ground-hosts-event-to-promote-healthy-living-news10nbc/
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – A Call to Empower Women of Color: Community leaders met with women and girls of color Saturday afternoon to promote healthy living.
The event was held at Genesee Valley Park. There were guest speakers, vendors, live music and dancing, and free health services. It was organized by Common Ground Health, which hopes to help find common ground on the health challenges of today.
“It’s important because we as women, work and take care of everyone, right? So sometimes we forget about ourselves. And, so self-care, especially in this season, is very important for us. So, taking time out just to mingle with other sisters, and socialize and network is very important,” said Jackie Docier, Program Manager, Common Ground.
Docier said the event started in her backyard 16 years ago.

Clutch plays from Arkansas
Arkansas faced a third-and-12 and was at risk of having to punt it away when K.J. Jefferson found Trey Knox for 21 yards to keep the drive alive. From there, Raheim Sanders ran 43 yards to set up what appears like the game-clinching TD from 1-yard out by J.J. Jefferson.

How Will The Metaverse Change The Landscape Of Technology? Intelligent Living
How Will The Metaverse Change The Landscape Of Technology? – Intelligent Living https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/how-will-the-metaverse-change-the-landscape-of-technology-intelligent-living/
How significant is the influence of the metaverse? Will it change our habits and online activity significantly, or can it be incorporated into the current trajectory of tech development?
The metaverse has the potential to be a game-changer, affecting everything from mobile slots to the latest virtual reality (VR) tech. Technically, we already have the technologies it needs to function, but the main issue holding it back is that many technologies don’t share a common platform.
So, what is the metaverse, exactly? And which technologies need to be integrated for it to succeed?
Defining the metaverse
The metaverse allows its users to create a digital identity. Theoretically, this ‘avatar’ will be able to access any digital platform, regardless of which company owns it. It also allows users to transfer digital assets between these platforms with no restrictions.
For this dream to become a reality, platform developers must embrace integration, which is a tough sell when you consider how competitive the tech industry is.
As a basic example, let’s say you’re a metaverse user and you’re on a platform owned by a tech giant. You just bought a digital asset on that platform, like a car or a clothing item. In the current tech landscape, you would have to accept that your purchase could only be used on that specific platform.
You wouldn’t be able to use that asset on another platform, and that’s precisely when the biggest challenge for the metaverse rears its head. See, the metaverse wants digital personas that can be carried across platforms, and the tech industry isn’t one to take the sharing of platforms lightly.
Firstly, it goes against the competitive nature of the industry. Secondly, it would mean that proprietary tech would have to be shared between multi-billion dollar companies.
(Credit: Photo by Alexander Shatov on Unsplash)
Several tech giants are contemplating this conundrum as we speak. The main issue holding many companies back is that if they agree to all share the metaverse, won’t that make the owner of the metaverse the one who comes out on top?
The answer depends on various factors, the most important of which is the integration aspect. How do we get all these technologies and platforms to work together seamlessly when they’re owned by entirely different companies with distinct design philosophies?
If we can reach an optimum level of tech integration and find common ground for these tech companies, the metaverse may yet become the way of the future. But which technologies require integration? Let’s take a look at the three most prominent tech types relevant to our discussion.
Extended reality
The immersive nature of the metaverse would be impossible without extended reality (XR) tech. XR is an umbrella term for VR, augmented reality (AR), and mixed reality (MR).
Devices granting access to the metaverse must have at least some form of XR capability. Still, some XR devices are less practical than others. VR is still expensive in the grand scheme of things, and only focusing on affordability can make it the primary platform for mass adoption.
On the other hand, AR devices (like your smartphone) are affordable but aren’t as immersive as their VR counterparts. Only time will tell which XR category wins out in the end. We may end up with a combination of XR devices, essentially leaving the choice up to the individual.

Artificial intelligence
Artificial intelligence (AI) is another key area of tech for the metaverse. It has the potential to affect multiple aspects of the metaverse, from avatar creation all the way through to world generation.
Through machine learning and data analysis, AI can streamline the experience for the user. It can collect biometric data and build databases, translate languages automatically, and even measure our patterns of behavior.
Ultimately, AI is highly versatile and can improve the efficiency of numerous metaverse systems. However, there’s simply no way of knowing what the extent of AI’s influence will be. For all we know, it could end up running the entire system.
Digital currencies
Digital currency could have a massive role to play in the metaverse. Cryptocurrencies and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) have been around for a few years now, but they’re yet to cross over into the realm of ‘accepted norms.’
The decentralized nature of crypto might be just what the metaverse needs. After all, the main concern right now is the lack of control for platform providers and the end user. Corporations and conglomerates will be the ones holding all the proverbial cards, especially when it comes to the control of information.
If NFTs and crypto coins, such as Bitcoin and Ethereum, can facilitate safe and secure transactions, then we won’t have to worry about currency conversions and international trade policies. Everyone will have the same payment system, making the cross-platform integration of goods and services far easier to accomplish.
Were Seeing A Lot Of People Come Undone: Expert Reveals The Daily Habit That Can damage Your Divorce Case 9Honey
‘We’re Seeing A Lot Of People Come Undone’: Expert Reveals The Daily Habit That Can ‘damage’ Your Divorce Case – 9Honey https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/were-seeing-a-lot-of-people-come-undone-expert-reveals-the-daily-habit-that-can-damage-your-divorce-case-9honey/
It’s not pretty, but if you know you are heading to Splitsville, here are some top tips to follow that I wish I’d known before my divorce.
1. Get a lawyer and an accountant
I was lucky in that my divorce was awful but amicable. However, if you can smell blood in the water and think things will get ugly, hire the best lawyer and accountant you can find, and make sure they are working together on your case.
Leah Oliver, founder of Minnik Chartered Accountants, doesn’t mince words: “This whole process is about money.”
“You might think it’s about your child’s future or it’s about where you are going to live etc,” she explains.
“Once you start to realise the behaviours of the other side and what kinds of things will play out, you will realise that right at the core of every single behaviour in every single action that a person takes is money.”

2. Numbers don’t lie
Lawyers will need full disclosure of your financial situation. As the saying goes, “numbers don’t lie”. Correct! Legal cases are based primarily on data. Financial data.
“So financial disclosure is all about transparency, presenting the numbers and presenting the truth because you get situations where people will tell lies to try to come out on top than the other side,” Oliver says.
“So, what the numbers do is that they smash those lies apart. Accountants work with the lawyers to present the financial disclosure to the court or at mediation and those numbers tell the truth. We can literally unravel a web of lies that the other side has created. So, it’s all about transparency.”
3. Don’t put it in writing
I don’t think people realise that when you’re texting, emailing or using social media, it is considered publishing!

Over-utilising technology to communicate could work against you Leah Oliver says. (Getty Images/iStockphoto)
“We’re seeing a lot of people come undone because of this. Because communicating via texts, social media and emails, all that’s become normal rather than talking face-to-face,” Oliver explains.
“We utilise our gadgets and utilise our devices to communicate, and especially if you’re emotional, some stuff can get said that can really work against you. So the whole legal world is relying on that data now because it’s evidence. Making comments on these tools is putting it in writing and can actually be quite damaging to your case.
“I suggest anything to do with finances, or anything to do with your emotions, just go complete cold turkey and stop communication. At that point in time, you would then rely on the lawyers to do all the communication for you because they are representing you.”
4. Be Fonzie
In other words, be cool. Easy to say, but hard to do, and that’s to try and take your emotions out of it.
“The trick is to kind of push everything aside, get some time to yourself, just really kind of go out in nature or whatever soothes you. What will happen is the other side’s lawyers will try to throw things in front of you like obstacles or things that make you feel guilty or make you feel emotional. So, the trick is just to get yourself on your own and push those emotions aside and to really focus hard on the financial side of your legal case,” Oliver says.

5. Look after your mental health
I don’t think I would have survived my divorce without my counsellor. It took me a couple of appointments to find the right counsellor I clicked with. Don’t just expect it to work with the first person you google.
“Attend counselling with a reputable psychologist or psychotherapist with experience in separation matters. Attend alone,” Oliver says.
“We find that a lot of people going through separation will offload on their lawyer, offload on their accountant, offload on sometimes even the person who they’re in the case with, or their friends and that can be really damaging to your relationships and also expensive if you do that with your lawyer,” she says.

Death Of GPU Mining? Popular Crypto Profits Go Into Negative As Ethereum Miners Flood Market | Bitcoinist.com – Bitcoinist https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/death-of-gpu-mining-popular-crypto-profits-go-into-negative-as-ethereum-miners-flood-market-bitcoinist-com-bitcoinist/
Mining profits of the PoW cryptos have gone into the negative following the Ethereum merge as ETH miners flood the hashrates of these other coins.
Mining Profits Of Popular Proof-Of-Work Cryptos Like Ethereum Classic Crater After The Merge
A couple of days ago, the much awaited ETH merge finally arrived and transitioned the network into a PoS-based consensus mechanism.
Since proof-of-stake chains don’t rely on miners for hashing blocks, every miner attached to Ethereum was left without the whole of their revenues.
Some of these miners have sold off their mining rigs in order to exit the market, while others have moved onto the remaining proof-of-work networks.
There is, however, one problem with miners shifting to other coins and it is that all the PoW cryptos that utilize graphics cards for mining (that is, those other than Bitcoin) had magnitudes lesser hashrate than ETH did before the merge.
There is a general concept of mining difficulty across crypto chains, where the network adjusts the rate at which miners can hash new blocks according to the total hashrate. Usually, coins increase the difficulty when the hashrate goes up to balance things out and keep the block production rate near constant.
A flood of GPUs previously being used for ETH mining suddenly entering into these other, significantly smaller hashrates would therefore result in a difficulty explosion.
Here is some data from the crypto mining profits calculator website WhatToMine that shows where the profits of the PoW coins with some of the largest market caps currently stand:
No crypto in the list is offering positive mining profits currently | Source: WhatToMine
As you can see in the above table, Ethereum Classic, the coin that’s currently the most popular mining option in the market, nets miners a profit of -$0.78 per hour right now. This figure assumes an average electricity price of $0.1 per kWh, and uses the hash of three AMD RX 480 graphics cards for making the calculation.
Even with the strongest GPU available on the market, the 3090ti, ETC mining hourly profits remain in the negative at around -$0.50.
As some already speculated before the merge, it would appear there just wasn’t any crypto with hashrate and market cap large enough to absorb the ETH miners, which made up for the vast majority of GPU crypto miners out there.
It’s possible a PoW coin can rise up in the future to become large enough to host comparable amounts of hashrate as Ethereum once did, but for now it would seem graphics cards-based mining may be dead.

At the time of writing, Ether’s price floats around $1.4k, down 6% in the past week.

Local Armenians Protest U.S. Assistance To Azerbaijans Military Los Angeles Times
Local Armenians Protest U.S. Assistance To Azerbaijan’s Military – Los Angeles Times https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/local-armenians-protest-u-s-assistance-to-azerbaijans-military-los-angeles-times/
More than 100 people gathered outside the Azerbaijani Consulate in Los Angeles on Saturday demanding an end to attacks by Azerbaijan forces in a disputed border region with Armenia and Artsakh, where an estimated 200 people were killed in the past week.
The demonstration coincided with a surprise weekend visit to Armenia by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco) and two Armenian American members of Congress, and the introduction of a resolution in Congress by Rep. Adam B. Schiff (D-Burbank) demanding a prohibition on U.S. assistance to Azerbaijan.
The U.S. Embassy said the visit will include a meeting with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, according to the Associated Press.
Like many others waving Armenian flags at the event organized by the Armenian Youth Federation, Tenny Alahverdian, 20, said she found herself thinking of relatives “suffering on the front lines.”
“We’re hoping that the United States comes down hard on Azerbaijan,” she said. “For President Biden to be calling for peace while funding Azerbaijan’s military is a crazy — and deadly — double standard.”
The demonstration was part of an effort that has spanned decades of advocacy and activism by Armenians around the world. Much of that movement has been centered in Los Angeles County, home to America’s largest Armenian diaspora community.
The movement was launched in the 1980s, when children of survivors of the Armenian genocide of 1915 to 1918 established themselves in the U.S. The genocide claimed the lives of more than 1 million Armenians under the Ottoman Empire, which became the modern republic of Turkey.
Over the years, Armenian Americans grew more politically active, contributing to political campaigns and the successful push last year to have Biden officially recognize the genocide.
Bitter memories of the massacre have profoundly shaped Armenian and Armenian American identity. But U.S. presidents had avoided using the term “genocide” so as not to anger the Turkish government, an important ally that disputes that what took place constituted genocide.
Both Armenia and Azerbaijan blame each other for instigating the recent bloody clashes.
But demonstrators outside the Wilshire Boulevard consulate on Saturday say the fighting started in 2020 when Azerbaijan, with the help of Turkey, launched a war to remove Armenians living in the disputed border region of Nagorno-Karabakh, referred to as the Republic of Artsakh.
News of Pelosi’s visit to Armenia, combined with Schiff’s proposed resolution, prompted Raffi Haig Hamparian, chairman of the Armenian National Committee of America, to urge Congress to “stop shipping U.S. tax dollars to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.”
“A halt to U.S. aid to Azerbaijan,” he said, “would also meaningfully challenge our State Department’s deeply flawed policy of answering every act of Azerbaijani aggression with generic calls upon all parties to refrain from violence.”
The Azerbaijani Consulate, however, said in a statement on its website that the ongoing tensions “arose as a result of large-scale provocations by Armenia, and therefore the responsibility completely falls on … Armenia.”
Alahverdian, the Los Angeles protest attendee, said: “The situation isn’t looking good anyway you look at it. It’s difficult being a member of the diaspora.”

Raleigh
N.C. State football coach Dave Doeren likes to say there’s nothing like a “night game under the lights at the Carter.” And the No. 16 Wolfpack has one Saturday against Texas Tech of the Big 12 Conference.
Both Power Five teams are 2-0 after similar starts to the season. The Pack edged East Carolina and blew out Charleston Southern and the Red Raiders blew out Murray State and then edged Houston in double overtime.
The News & Observer’s Chip Alexander and Luke DeCock are at Carter-Finley Stadium and will have updates from all the action.
Check back for live updates throughout the game, which starts at 7 p.m.
Injury update: Pack’s Baker-Williams injured, out
Wolfpack defensive back Tyler Baker-Willams has been ruled out for the second half. Baker-Williams was injured in the opening half.
Halftime: NC State 20, Texas Tech 7
Cornerback Aydan White’s 84-yard pick-6 was the highlight for the Pack in a game where both defenses grudgingly gave up yards. Running back Demie Sumo-Karngbaye had a 14-yard TD run for the Pack’s first TD.
Texas Tech struck in the final minute of the first half as Donovan Smith had a 24-yard TD throw to Myles Price.
The Pack’s Devin Leary is six-for-12 passing for 38 yards as the Texas Tech secondary has blanketed the Pack’s receivers well.
Price TD: NC State 20, Texas Tech 7
The Red Raiders, stifled by the Pack defense most of the first half, took advantage of a short NCSU punt and a Wolfpack penalty to score on a 60-yard drive. The Pack was called for defensive pass interference in the end zone, and the Red Raiders scored on the next play as Donovan Smith connected with Myles Price for a 24-yard TD throw with 50 seconds left in the half.
White interception return: NC State 20, Texas Tech 0
Pack cornerback Aydan White said during the week that a passing team presents more opportunities for DBs and he relished the challenge. He got one in the second quarter and his 84-yard interception return of a Donovan Smith pass pushed the Pack ahead 20-0.
The Red Raiders had twice converted third downs to move to the NCSU 28. But on fourth-and-1, Smith was under pressure and unloaded a pass that Smith turned into the pick-6 with 4:40 left in the first half.
Sumo-Karngbaye TD: NC State 13, Texas Tech 0
After a strong defensive possession led by linebacker Isaiah Moore, the Pack took advantage of favorable field position at the TTU 43 to score the first touchdown of the game. Devin Leary completed a third-down pass to Thayer Thomas, and the Red Raiders were calling for roughing the passer on the play. On first down from the 14, Demie-Sumo Karngbaye circled left end for the score with 10:13 left in the second period.
Dunn FG: NC State 6, Texas Tech 0
The Pack again moved inside the Red Raiders’ 25 but a sack of Devin Leary, then a holding penalty against Timothy McKay spoiled the possession for NCSU. Christopher Dunn’s 47-yard field goal pushed the Pack lead to 6-0.
Injury update: Red Raiders lose player
Texas Tech linebacker Bryce Ramirez suffered a severe leg injury with 4:02 left in the first period and had to be carted off the field. Ramirez was attended to by medical personnel from Texas Tech and NCSU. The Wolfpack offensive players gave Ramirez a few pats of support before he was taken off.
Dunn FG: NC State 3, Texas Tech 0
After the Pack recovered a Texas Tech punt at the TTU 13, the Wolfpack outsmarted the Red Raiders with some trickery but blew up the play with a penalty and had to settle for Chris Dunn’s 29-yard field goal.
On first-and-goal from the TTU 3, running back Demie Sumo-Karngbaye took a direct snap after quarterback Devin Leary shifted to his right out of the shotgun. Sumo-Karngbaye ran left and pitched to Thayer Thomas in motion back to the right, and Thomas hit an open Leary in the end zone.
But left tackle Anthony Belton was penalized for illegal lineman down field and Dunn was needed for the field goal.

A year ago, the world was a very different place. A high school team named Bishop Sycamore was the talk of the country. Now, it’s a college team called Nebraska making questionable financial decisions off the field and looking embarrassing on it.
A year ago, college football fans could not escape an Applebee’s commercial. This year, it’s Nick Saban chasing a goat.
A year ago, Georgia was 3-0, having utterly dominated its early schedule, but there was one big red flag, one clear Achilles’ heel for an otherwise terrific football team. His name was Stetson Bennett IV.
What a difference a year makes.
Bennett wrapped his day early Saturday, leading the Bulldogs to a 48-7 thrashing of South Carolina. In the game, Bennett completed 16 of 23 passes for 284 yards and two TDs, then added another 36 yards on three rushes, one going for a touchdown.
How good was Bennett on Saturday? He did all this while, according to the ESPN broadcast, he was sick and throwing up on the sidelines during the game.
The play before Bennett vomited featured one of the most spectacular grabs a tight end has ever made.
After he vomited, Bennett was 6-of-10 for 159 yards with a passing and rushing score.
The man is a legend.
A year ago, Bennett was keeping the QB1 chair warm for JT Daniels. Now, he’s completing 74% of his passes and averaging 11 yards every time he throws the ball.
In a game in which no Georgia player ran for more than 36 yards (that was Bennett, by the way), the Bulldogs still cruised to an easy road victory against an SEC East foe. It’s mind-boggling just how good this team has looked.
Like last year, Georgia opened against a ranked foe. But this time, rather than a narrow 10-3 win over Clemson behind a stagnant offense, the Bulldogs dominated Oregon 49-3.
Like last year, Georgia moved to 3-0 with an easy win over the Gamecocks, but this time around, it wasn’t a test run for Bennett helming the offense but rather the latest example that he’s just built different.
A year ago, Georgia outscored its first three opponents by a score of 106-23.
One national title and a busload of NFL draft picks later, the Dawgs are 3-0 again by a combined score of 130-10.
No, this is not the 2021 Georgia Bulldogs. This team might be even better because this isn’t 2021’s Stetson Bennett. The guy spent last season doing what no one believed possible, then celebrated with a championship and an appearance on “Good Morning America.”
This year? As impossible as it might sound, he might end up doing even more.
The Fun Belt rides again
Oh, you thought Week 2 was drama-filled in the Sun Belt? Appalachian State was just getting warmed up.
One week after the Sun Belt pulled off three shocking upsets, the conference delivered another trio of games that culminated with last-second drama.
Old Dominion nearly pulled off its second shocker of the season against Virginia, scoring late to take a lead over the Cavaliers. But a frenetic drive down the field put UVA in range for a chip-shot field goal and a last-second win.
Out West, South Alabama came oh-so-close to taking down undefeated UCLA. The Jaguars attempted a fake field goal from the UCLA 22 with 2:52 remaining, and it went horribly. Tanner McGee was tackled for an 11-yard loss, the Bruins got the ball back, drove 61 yards on 10 plays and delivered a game-winning field goal as time expired.
The Sun Belt has four wins over Power 5 teams this season, but it also now has three losses on the final play of the game.
And speaking of final plays, App State delivered one for the ages, as Chase Brice‘s Hail Mary heave came up short of the end zone, was deflected and caught by receiver Christian Horn at the 8, who then took a looping path toward the sideline and sprinted into the end zone for a shocking 32-28 win.
APP STATE WON ON A HAIL MARY ON THE FINAL PLAY pic.twitter.com/yDlzYYtU19
— ESPN (@espn) September 17, 2022
A quick flashback to the past three weeks for the Mountaineers:
Week 1: App State scores 40 points in the fourth quarter against North Carolina, including two touchdowns in the final 31 seconds, but was upended by two failed 2-point tries.
Week 2: App State goes on the road to Texas A&M and pulls off the massive upset of the sixth-ranked Aggies, the biggest win for the program since its famed victory over Michigan in 2007.
Week 3: A walk-off Hail Mary in a win over Troy on a day ESPN’s College GameDay came to campus.
That the mayor of Boone hasn’t announced some sort of “Purge” situation in which everything is legal for 24 hours probably doesn’t matter much. The party on the mountain might last until next week’s kickoff against James Madison.
It’s getting ugly at Auburn
Across the state of Alabama, Auburn boosters are sitting in smoke-filled rooms, maniacally patting their checkbooks and cackling like Bond villains.
It’s buyout season again on The Plains.
It must’ve been frustrating last week for all those Auburn money men to witness Nebraska make an expensive coaching change and think, “Why not us?”
Undoubtedly, there was a powder keg of nervous anticipation Saturday, as Penn State — the first Big Ten visitor to Jordan-Hare Stadium — ran the ball to the tune of 245 yards and five touchdowns in a 41-12 win, with the knowledge that spending a bunch of money on another failed coaching hire was now within arm’s reach. Boosters were likely reaching for their wallets faster than Nick Singleton runs the 40.
There was, to be sure, a brief moment of horror when Robby Ashford entered the game and created a spark for the Tigers. Could Bryan Harsin, amid a blowout loss, have found a savior? No. The Auburn offense quickly regressed to its fundamental mediocrity, and again, order was restored and boosters breathed a sigh of relief.
After nearly nixing Harsin last winter, then forcing out the athletics director who hired him last month, the question always felt more about when a change was coming than if it would happen. And at Auburn, there’s nothing the Tigers do better than letting a head coach twist in the wind.
How long will Harsin twist? Auburn has won just two of its past eight games, has scored 24 points or less in six of them. After a home game against Missouri in Week 4, the remaining schedule includes games against five ranked teams. Bowl eligibility could be tough, and that’s an awfully low bar for a fan base that, by its very nature, must compare itself to Alabama.
That’s bad news for Harsin, of course. But not that bad. That $18 million buyout is cathartic for everyone.
Sooners make a statement
The change at Nebraska was instantaneous. Scott Frost is gone, and suddenly the Huskers aren’t losing close games anymore.
Instead, Nebraska got blown out by former Big 12 rival Oklahoma 49-14.
OK, so the problems in Lincoln didn’t end with a coaching change. Instead, Saturday offered emphatic evidence that Oklahoma’s fortunes haven’t shifted with a coaching change either.
play
0:28
Dillon Gabriel takes off on a 61-yard run for Oklahoma to tie the game against Nebraska.
In its first game against a Power 5 foe with Brent Venables at the helm, Oklahoma looked an awful lot like the Sooners we’ve come to expect. The offense was potent, with Dillon Gabriel throwing for two touchdowns and running for another. The defense dominated. After Nebraska scored on its opening drive, the Huskers didn’t sniff the end zone again until the game was well out of hand. As with Venables’ best Clemson teams, the Oklahoma defensive front dominated the line of scrimmage, tormenting Casey Thompson to the tune of four sacks.
For the Sooners, it was a statement that Lincoln Riley’s departure won’t keep this team from being in the playoff hunt.
For the Huskers, it was a perfect opportunity to interview Urban Meyer for the open head-coaching job. After all, Nebraska has lots of wide-open spaces for a man to display his picture frames.
Around the horn for the FCS
Week 3 again had its share of FBS-FCS mismatches, but that didn’t mean the games came without any interest.
The good: Southern Illinois‘ defense forced four turnovers as the Salukis scored the upset over Northwestern 31-24 on Saturday. Reminder: Northwestern beat Nebraska but is now not even close to being the best team in the state of Illinois.
The bad: Virginia Tech cruised to a 27-7 win over Wofford, but that wasn’t all bad for the Terriers. Nathan Walker‘s 3-yard TD run with 9:34 to play marked the first points of the year for 0-3 Wofford. That’s progress!
The ugly: Kent State earned its first win of the season, thumping Long Island University 63-10. LIU cashes its share of FBS checks, but what it has done with that money is anyone’s guess. In addition to Saturday’s defeat, the Sharks (we looked that up) lost 37-0 to Toledo in Week 1, 42-7 to Miami (Ohio)and 66-0 to West Virginia last year, and opened the 2021 season with a 48-10 loss to a Florida International team that didn’t win again that season.
So, if you’re keeping score at home, that’s five games vs. FBS foes in the past 13 months that resulted in an 0-5 record by a combined score of 256-20. Long Island University is to college football teams as Long Island iced teas are to beverages — it’s comprised of a haphazard assortment of ingredients and results in a seemingly endless series of bad decisions.
The most college football thing to happen Saturday
There’s a long and colorful history of mascot shaming among rivals in college football, but this week, Virginia took things too far.
On Wednesday, Hudson — the yellow lab puppy and Old Dominion‘s unofficial mascot — announced via his Twitter account that he’d been denied field access for Saturday’s road game ...

4 First-Time Cruiser Tips
Photograph by Nick Rains/Studio Ponant
Here’s what to know before you go, according to Brigitte Feinberg, adviser at Avenue Two Travel in Bryn Mawr.
Set the Schedule EARLY
The cruise line will open up reservations for dining, spa treatments and excursions prior to departure. Book accordingly. “If you wait till the cruise, options may not be available,” says Feinberg. “You want to enjoy all the ship has to offer.”
Don’t Miss the Boat
Flight delays could make you miss your cruise, as we’ve seen from the recent Airmageddon horrors this year, says Feinberg. Plan to get to the cruise departure destination at least one or two days ahead of time to avoid being left at the dock.
Stock Your Carry-On
Airlines lose bags — and even if yours are just delayed, once the ship sets sail, you’re out of luck, says Feinberg. Pack medications, extra clothes and a swimsuit in your carry-on, just in case.
Get Your Sea Legs
Peruse your ship online before boarding, and once you arrive, stroll around for a self-guided tour, “so you know where everything is in relation to your cabin.”
The Family Adventure: Disney Cruise Line

There’s been a Dream, a Wonder, a Fantasy, and now, finally, a Wish. In June, Disney Cruise Line unveiled its first new vessel in a decade, with a sea of captivating restaurants, entertainment and attractions. And while it would be fair to assume a Disney cruise is really for the kids, Wish offers plenty of new and nostalgic magic to engage everyone else in the family, too. Keep reading here.
The Grown-up Getaway: Virgin Voyages
Though the cruise is adults-only, you’ll feel like a kid in a candy shop on Virgin Voyages’ all-inclusive Scarlet Lady.

It was a very “Toto, I’ve a feeling we’re not in Kansas anymore!” moment — stepping out of the airport into the sweltering Miami heat and an Uber hooked up with flashing red party lights. And for the next five days, the wonder didn’t stop. Keep reading here.
The Educational Journey: Ponant
Immerse yourself in Greek history, culture and cuisine on a Ponant cruise of the Southern Aegean.

You can learn about ancient Greece by setting aside a few months to wade through Homer’s Odyssey, or you can hear about it from an archaeologist — while aboard a sleek ship, coasting from island to island across the Aegean Sea. French expedition ship operator Ponant recently partnered with Smithsonian Journeys — part of the Smithsonian Institution (which includes the world’s largest museum; maybe you’ve heard of it?) — for itineraries that are part immersive education, part effervescent holiday. I’m sipping soft bubbles of champagne on my private ocean-facing balcony, staring out at electric blue hunks of ice as they float in the waters of the formidable and remote Glacier Bay National Park. Somehow, the freezing ocean full of diving whale tails and splashing otters and the vast tundra dotted with massive brown bears seem close even as I dig into my lobster-topped eggs Benedict — brought to my balcony by room service. Can’t get away? This vessel stays in Philly.
Want the cruise experience without the travel hassles or costs? Board a City Experiences ship at Penn’s Landing for a two-hour buffet brunch or sunset dinner (from around $75 to $125 per person), and enjoy the people-watching as much as the views. You might spot a raucous bachelorette party, a family celebrating a college graduation, and an elegant couple in black-tie attire, all on the same ship. If you want privacy, take your champagne to the top tier for a romantic moment.

SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC) – Memorial Health’s Dwaine and Cynthia Willett Children’s Hospital held their annual NICU reunion Saturday and the theme fit right in with Saturday’s college game day!
It was a fun-filled day at the hospital as graduates of the NICU, and their parents, showed their team pride and got to reunite with their doctors and nurses.
They celebrated the big milestones they’ve made by throwing footballs, getting a chance to sit in an ambulance and more.
Memorial’s children’s hospital is the only level 3 NICU in the community. The hospital supports the surrounding 26 counties and about 5 counties in the Lowcountry so many babies get transported here for care.
Dr. Brad Buckler says it’s so great seeing the kids they took care of living happy and healthy lives.
“See them be normal kids running around playing, having a great time when they were really so small and fragile. It really just is a wonderful event for the physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists and the nurses all just love this experience,” Dr. Brad Buckler said.
Little Harper Seaman’s parents say she spent 98 days in the NICU. She was delivered at 27 weeks after her mother Lauren Seaman developed a severe form of pre-eclampsia. Harper got sepsis and meningitis, but now she’s doing great!
“They supported us so much through one of the most difficult times of our life and scariest times of our life. We are so incredibly grateful for the care they provided to her and really the support they gave to us as we entered parenthood and not so traditional fashion,” Ryan and Lauren Seaman said.
The reunion wasn’t held in the last few years because of the pandemic, so it also was an opportunity for people to check out Memorial’s new children’s hospital.

Solar-Powered Crypto Farm In Australia To Prove Bitcoin Mining Can Be Green – Mining Bitcoin News – Bitcoin News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/solar-powered-crypto-farm-in-australia-to-prove-bitcoin-mining-can-be-green-mining-bitcoin-news-bitcoin-news/
A crypto mining data center in the state of South Australia will be running mainly on solar-generated electricity, a media report reveals. The coin minting facility has been set up in a region known for its energy-hungry iron ore extraction and steel production.
Bitcoin Farm to Mine Cryptocurrency on Solar and Excess Energy in South Australia
The ‘Steel City’ of Whyalla in South Australia has become home to a new crypto mining installation that will run on electricity generated from solar power. Operated by the Lumos Digital Mining company, the 5-megawatt facility will be minting bitcoin, a process often blamed for its energy-intensive nature.
Australian national broadcaster ABC notes in a report that at a time when the world is trying to reduce energy consumption, the extraction of the leading cryptocurrency by market capitalization uses more power than medium-sized nations such as Argentina. It’s echoing criticism often highlighted by mass media around the world.
Local authorities see the solar-based crypto mining project as a proof that bitcoin generation can be more environmentally friendly. Commenting on the undertaking, South Australia State Minister for Trade and Investment Nick Champion elaborated:
This is important for decarbonizing blockchain, which is a very energy-intensive industry. I think it’s the beginning of a new economy out here at Whyalla.
The government official also hopes to see other data centers mining cryptocurrency using renewable energy in the future. “There will be demand for blockchain, but also carbon-neutral blockchain so I think we will see more and more facilities like this,” he expects.
His statement comes after a recent report by the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy estimated that cryptocurrency production in the United States alone represents as much as 0.3% of global greenhouse gas emissions.
According to a Lumos Digital Mining representative, the new crypto farm can potentially mint around 100 BTC annually, depending on the available power. Angelo Kondylas said the company could also sell some of its solar power to other consumers or increase crypto output to utilize surplus energy from different sources when electricity generation exceeds demand.
Kondylas pointed out that power generators may suffer heavy losses when they switch off at times of low consumption. “We are basically like a sponge. We soak up the excess that’s not used,” he explained. The operator intends to eventually double the size of the mining facility.
Bitcoin mining on renewable and surplus energy has been gaining traction around the world, with growing investor interest in solar-based coin minting projects in the U.S. and increasing capacity of cryptocurrency farms running on associated petroleum gas (APG) at Russia’s oil fields.

The United States Air Force is celebrating a major milestone this weekend.
Though the country has seen several wars and aircraft flights for more than 100 years, the Air Force as we know it today is only 75 years old.
Benjamin Franklin first considered using air balloons for reconnaissance back in 1783. It wasn’t until 1903 that the Wright brothers took the first flight, leading the world into a decade of innovation.

By 1911, Congress had approved $125,000 to expand the use of airplanes in the military. Later during World War II, between 1939-1945, airplanes were used for observation and surveillance to help expose gaps in German defenses.
The nation’s air defense was initially under the purview of the U.S. Army after the Air Service was rebranded as the U.S. Army Air Corps in 1926. The Air Corps was transformed into the Army Air Forces in 1941 before the U.S. Air Force was established in 1947.
President Harry Truman signed the National Security Act which established this new defense organization, and along with it the creation of the US Air Force as an independent service, equal to the U.S. Army and U.S. Navy.
W. Stuart Symington was sworn in as the first secretary of the Air Force.

In the modern era, the Air Force has been the centerpiece of America’s space missions, making strides in the fields of rocketry, satellite launching, and spacecraft technology — helping pave the way for the moon landing in 1969 and satellite launches today.
Present-day Air Force pilots fly jet fighters that haven’t lost an air-to-air battle in over 40 years, while America’s bombers are capable of penetrating anywhere in the world, while protected by stealth technology, according to Air Force Space Command.
The flyover seen by the millions of people who watched the Super Bowl earlier this year was a tribute to the force’s 75th birthday.
The formation included e a P-51 Mustang, A-10C Thunderbolt II, F-16 Fighting Falcon, F-22 Raptor, and a F-35A Lightning II.

10 Xbox Games You Should Be Hyped For – Man Of Many https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/10-xbox-games-you-should-be-hyped-for-man-of-many/
When it comes to upcoming titles, there’s a lot to be excited about, especially if you’re an Xbox fan. The Microsoft-backed mega-business has a huge list of highly anticipated games on the way, which is a bit of a surprise, considering the console’s pedigree. Xbox has never really been known for its exclusive titles, with the company relying more on bringing third-party games since day one of its subscription service. However, to keep up with the competition and changing times and to lure more players into buying their shiny new consoles, Microsoft and Xbox have been on an acquisition spree of late.

Most Anticipated Xbox Games
Presently, Team Green has a fantastic team of first-party studios under its belt that are working on creating new IPs and games for Xbox Series X|S as we speak. Both the Xbox Series X and S are great pieces of hardware and there are some amazing first-party games on the horizon that you simply can’t miss out on. So, we have compiled a list of some of the most anticipated Xbox first-party titles slated to release in the coming future. Let’s jump right in.
1. Redfall
Let’s kick things off with Redfall, an upcoming open-world RPG co-op first-person shooter from Arkane. The game takes place in “the quaint island town of Redfall, Massachusetts,” which currently is under some sort of attack by a squadron of vampires. The attack has disconnected the island from the outside world and now, it’s all up to a group of survivors to free the island. Redfall has four different main characters to choose from, each with their own abilities. The game focuses heavily on cooperative play, but you can enjoy the entire experience solo as well.

2. Starfield
Starfield is without a doubt one of the most anticipated Xbox exclusives of recent times. Being touted as “Skyrim in space,” Starfield will mark Bethesda Game Studios’ first new IP in 25 years, so there will be a lot riding on this one. While there’s not much known about the plot or the story, we do know that Starfield takes place in 2330, 20 years after the Colony War for territorial authority between two of the biggest coalitions in The Settled Systems, namely, the United Colonies and Freestar Collective.
You’ll play as one of the members of Constellation, an institution of space explorers. Players will have the full freedom to go anywhere, do anything, join any faction and more. The game is packed with RPG elements and there will be a ton of ways to customize your in-game avatar. Starfield was originally going to drop on November 11, 2022, but was later pushed to the first half of 2023.

3. High on Life
Okay, here’s a fun one for you. High on Life is an upcoming “action adventure comedy Metroidvania first-person shooter” from Squanch Games, a studio co-created by Justin Roiland, who also happens to be one of the creative minds behind the massively popular TV series Rick and Morty.
Even though High on Life isn’t a AAA title, the game is packed with absurdist humor, which we all have come to appreciate, and appears to feature some excellent gunplay and levels. The game plays out in the far future where the human race has been abducted by an alien cartel and is being used as drugs for aliens. You take on the role of a bounty hunter whose job is to explore the galaxy to save the humans. One of the main highlights of the game is its anthropomorphic talking guns which players will have at their disposal.

4. Forza Motorsport
The Forza franchise is all set to make a grand comeback with its upcoming Forza game. Simply known as Forza Motorsport, the game will be the eighth entry in the franchise and is a series reboot built exclusively for current-gen Xbox consoles and PC. Forza games have always been about sheer racing fun and this new one will be no different. One of the major talking points of Forza Motorsport (2023) is realism and attention to detail. The game will have complex physics, cars and tracks directly from the real world, and much more.

5. Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II
Among all the announced/upcoming Xbox exclusives, Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II takes the crown for being the most secretive project. Acting as the sequel to 2017’s Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice, the upcoming title will continue Senua’s journey following the events of the first game. The first game ended with Senua finally coming to terms with the fact that it was never possible to bring her lover back. We also saw Senua mentioning that there are still more stories to tell, but, unfortunately, nothing is currently known about Senua’s Saga: Hellblade II plot or what our protagonist has been upto all this while. Hopefully, we will get some answers soon.

6. Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl
After more than a decade since it was first announced, the wait for Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl is almost over. The highly anticipated follow-up and the fourth game in the series will see players returning to The Zone of Alienation, a highly contaminated and treacherous region between the borders of Ukraine and Belarus. The development of Stalker 2: Heart of Chernobyl was heavily affected by the Russian invasion of Ukraine and the game was delayed on several occasions. However, it is currently on track to launch sometime next year.

7. State of Decay 3
Another excellent Xbox exclusive in development right now is State of Decay 3 from the folks over at Undead Labs. It will be the third entry in the series and was announced by Microsoft in July 2020. The announcement was accompanied by a brief cinematic trailer that gives us our first glimpse of the game’s harsh setting and the female protagonist.
Since then, we haven’t heard or seen anything about the game. The developers have gone totally silent on this one, so, chances are, the project might still be in its early phases of development. To top it all off, there’s no officially confirmed release date or window for State of Decay 3, meaning we all got a lot of waiting to do.

8. Avowed
Avowed is a brand new IP from Obsidian that will be set in the same universe as Pillars of Eternity and takes place in the land of Eora. The title was unveiled during the July 2021 Xbox Games Showcase, where we got our first and till now, the only glimpse at the game. Judging by things shown in the announcement trailer, it appears that Avowed will be a first-person RPG and will rely heavily on rune-based magic powers and sword combat. We also have no clue about the game’s plot or its characters. Avowed still has no release date and it’s likely still a couple of years away.

9. Indiana Jones Game
After two years, it’s safe to say that Xbox’s acquisition of ZeniMax Media, the parent company of Bethesda Softworks has turned out to be a great bet. There are some excellent exclusives in the pipeline (which this list might already be indicative of) for 2022 and beyond, including a brand new Indiana Jones game.
Announced in early 2021, the upcoming title will be a “wholly original, standalone tale set at the height of the career of the famed adventurer.” It is being developed by the Wolfenstein developer MachineGames and Bethesda Game Studios head Todd Howard is the project’s executive producer. The game is still in its very early stages of development and there’s not a lot of information currently available surrounding the game’s story or characters. The only thing that confirms the existence of the game is a CG trailer packed with subtle Easter eggs for fans to drool over.

10. A New Fable Game
Last but not definitely not least on this list is a brand new Fable game from Playground Games. The developers are calling this new entry as a “new beginning” for the series and was first announced all the way back in 2020. A brief cinematic trailer was also shown off, featuring a stunning world; while simultaneously letting fans know that the franchise was making a comeback after a long vacation.
Since then, we haven’t heard anything from the developers or Xbox about the project. We also don’t know whether the new Fable game will be set in Albion, the country where the Fable trilogy took place, or someplace new. However, following the original reveal, Aaron Greenberg, general manager of Xbox Games Marketing at Microsoft said, “we’re letting them (Playground Games) get a fresh start with the franchise and really you can see it’s still got the classic British humor that’s really true to the franchise, it’s obviously going to be a role-playing game, we’ve got the best folks in the industry working on it. Today was just the reveal of the game, and we’re excited to officially say Fable’s coming, and we’ll share more when we’re ready.”

Texas Receives Federal Funding After Floods | News | Palestineherald.com – Palestine Herald Press https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/texas-receives-federal-funding-after-floods-news-palestineherald-com-palestine-herald-press/
AUSTIN — The U.S. Small Business Administration approved a request for aid on Thursday following recent floods that left large swaths of the Dallas-Fort Worth area under water.
A downpour of rain in several north Texas counties in August flooded roads and submerged cars.
To help the area recover, the SBA granted access to its Home Disaster Loans, Business Physical Disaster Loans and Economic Injury Disaster Loan programs to those whose properties suffered damage in Dallas, Collin, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Rockwall and Tarrant counties. The long-term, low-interest loans will help Texans cope with economic injury and physical damage to homes and businesses, state officials said.
Residents can apply online, receive additional disaster assistance information and download applications at www.disasterloanassistance.sba.gov. Applicants may also call SBA’s Customer Service Center at 800- 659-2955 or email disastercustomerservice@sba.gov for more information on SBA disaster assistance.
“This disaster declaration ensures Texans impacted by last month’s flooding are able to receive the support and assistance needed to recover and move forward,” Gov. Greg Abbott said in a statement.
Preliminary damage assessments found that at least 47 homes and businesses in Dallas County sustained major damage and suffered an uninsured loss of more than 40%.
The total major damage is estimated to be $1.97 million, while additional minor damage of six other structures is estimated to be $295,000, documents said.

A Connection Resistant To Displacement, Battling Loneliness During Times Of War – Berkeley Beacon https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/a-connection-resistant-to-displacement-battling-loneliness-during-times-of-war-berkeley-beacon/
By Margarita Ivanova
September 17, 2022
It was late February during my study abroad program in The Netherlands when I first heard about Russia’s potential attack on Ukraine. The talk of an invasion was simply a rumor until Thursday, Feb. 24. When the news came, no one really knew what to do.
There were many students around me squirming around in fear and ignorance even though we were living in The Netherlands—one of the most disconnected countries in Europe from the war.
The fear didn’t last long though, as spring break came around a few weeks later. We had the privilege of trading our thoughts of war for our travels to Italy, which was going to be our living fantasy for the next week. Spending money like it was a game of monopoly, we first hit Venice, and after three days of gondola rides, it soon came time to frolic away to Florence.
It was Thursday, March 8—International Women’s Day—and every restaurant in Venice was handing out bundles of yellow flowers. The day felt like magic; every woman seemed to share a glow of solidarity, feeling acknowledged in a special way.
As my friends and I stood up to depart the train back from Florence, I saw her: a woman with a hopeless expression, two bags in hand, and a foreigners confusion that matched mine. I can’t really put the feeling into words, but it led me to give her my flowers.
[elementor-template id=”60935″]
“Are you Russian?” she asked me in Russian.
As a Bulgarian, I was familiar with the Slavic-rooted language, and found a way to communicate through gestures and an understanding of every other word.
She told me she was a Ukrainian refugee who needed help; she didn’t know where she was going, she didn’t have money, and she was meeting someone somewhere, with a passport deprived of destination. Her name: Anzhelika Holdobina. As we both got off from the next stop, I told her I was a journalist and she quickly gave me her phone number before charging off to her next train.
Her presence led me to realize the reality of the refugee crisis. I was no longer distantly watching news interpretations of asylum seekers from a disconnected part of the world. Our technological exchange would soon foster a connection that allowed me to skim the surface of life for refugees. Staying in touch with Holdobina, as well as another family, has not only heightened my awareness and satisfied my curiosity, but it has given them the hope and tenderness of a stranger. Communication gives them the reminder that they are loved and appreciated.
Holdobina and I have been in contact on Viber and WhatsApp ever since our exchange, and I received permission from Anzhelika to share bits of our correspondence throughout the past six months.
As we have maintained contact, I have been able to follow her journey as she attempts to rebuild her life in Italy. Her story is more than just a political slogan for perseverance, but an example that the statistics and headlines we consume affect real people in heartbreaking ways.
March 8, 2022 : “Hi Anzhelika, are you doing okay?”
March 9, 2022: “Hi Margarita, housing is not very good, money too, and I need a job, and a family that would take me to live with them, or a single woman. Please help.”
After receiving this, I started a GoFundMe, but I was back in the Netherlands. There wasn’t much I could physically do to help.
Holdobina had just returned from a three-day journey that bridged through Poland, Austria, to Italy, parting with her husband and son in Kyiv, who were fighting in the war.
March 13, 2022:
Her loneliness changed course when she found a short-term sense of peace in a room with a grandmother and four small grandchildren who were also in Florence running from the war.
Although there are many organizations and volunteers providing humanitarian aid, Evgeniya Volkova, a Bulgarian-Ukrainian real estate agent part of a non-profit seeking to integrate refugees into family housing, says the process is not an easy one.
“It’s really great when we see families hosting refugees, but the reality is that the other 90% of refugees who don’t get so lucky run the risk of being homeless,” she said. “This fear and lack of comfort makes them very depressed.”
During our conversation, Holdobina talked about a comfortable sense of food security, but said finding work was already extremely difficult.
March 14, 2022:
“Hi Anzhelika, how is your family back home? How are you staying in touch with them?”
“I can keep in touch with my family through the internet. But it is really difficult thinking about their position versus mine. They are fighting in a war and I am here with silence and beauty.”
“Have you had any luck finding a job?”
“I am trying to get a job, but since I don’t know the language, they won’t take me anywhere, and I want some kind of work at least.”
Volkova highlighted the difficulty in job integration also outside of the language barrier, saying that many doctors and highly-ranked professionals are being cornered into working low-wage jobs that don’t align with their strengths.
March 25, 2022:
“Hi Anzhelika, The Go Fund Me donations went through, we raised over $300!”
“Oh thank you Margarita for your help. I do need the money, I don’t work yet. They help feed us here, but besides food we also need personal items. Hopefully we will be going home to Ukraine soon.”
To the average person, $300 doesn’t seem like much, but at the time, it doubled Italy’s approved monthly payment of €300 to Ukrainian arrivals.
April 22, 2022: “How is everything Anzhelika?”
“Hello Margarita, life goes on. We are resting, waiting for good news.”
I told her that the money was wired, and she thanked me, but the hope of work for her was seemingly slimming down.
“We are still waiting for working documents, so we are not working yet, but we are being helped by humanitarian aid. I don’t know when the documents will be ready, for now we are patiently waiting.”
“Thank you Margarita for being so attentive and kind.”
I couldn’t understand why she was thanking me. It felt like I was doing less than the bare minimum at this point, feeling very privileged each time I reached out.
May 20, 2022: “Do you think you will get to go home soon?”
She was now living in Empoli, Italy. She feared the thought of going home, and said it would be too dangerous, though her current situation remained precarious.
“I want to stay here, I am learning the language, the state helps with the purchase of products, but no they still haven’t told us about our living situation.”
August 19, 2022:
“Hi Anzhelika, How are you? It has been a while. Have you received your working papers? How is your living space? Are things more comfortable?”
“Hi Margarita, Life goes on. I am learning a language in an online school. It’s vacation time in Italy, and everyone is on vacation. I am not working yet. We are waiting for the papers. Maybe in Autumn something will change. How are you? Where are you? You have an interesting life, you travel.”
I filled her in on my life and my family, and then asked about her loved ones back in Ukraine. I talked about some of my dreams, and sent her some prayers.
“Good evening Margarita,
My husband and son and I talk on the phone, and sometimes by video link, but of course this is not the same as a living connection. I really want to hug them, but only God knows how soon it will happen. Thank you for your concern and prayers. It really helps to live and hope for the best.”
“And your living situation? Are you with the same people?”
“Hi Margarita, yes, we still live together with the grandmother and the three grandchildren from Ivano Frankivsk. We are also helped by the state of Italy. And everything is good with my adult children, if you can say so. These are not easy times for Ukraine. You are a smart woman. You will do great things, and I wish you strength, health, and well being. May all of your dreams come true.”
Present day:
The refugee crisis continues, with hopes of going home continuously waning for those who are displaced.
During times of conflict and war, we tend to hyperfocus on the policy, the resources, and the military, to the point where we leave behind some of the most basic principles of empathy and human connection. Although many of us are disconnected from those experiencing the effects of the war in Ukraine, technology has a set of arms that extend beyond the reach of our experiences.
By taking advantage of this communication, we can share love to the individuals running from war, and fighting the battle of loneliness that exists within working to maintain a sense of direction. It becomes repetitive to share or display solidarity without application.
Show refugees they aren’t alone, not just by donating and keeping up with the war, but by sharing a sense of presence through kind words and listening, just as you would if it was your family.

Chinese Citizens Top Number Of Foreigners With Ghana Card – Prof Attafuah – Ghana Business News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/chinese-citizens-top-number-of-foreigners-with-ghana-card-prof-attafuah-ghana-business-news/
Prof Attafuah
The National Identification Authority (NIA) says China is the country with the highest number of foreigners issued with Non-citizen National Identity card (Ghana card).
Professor Kenneth Agyemang Attafuah, Executive Secretary, NIA, said this at a press briefing in Accra on Friday to mark this year’s International Identity Day, after the Ghana News Agency posed a question to him.
This comes amid recent controversy of Huang En, popularly known as, Aisha Huang, a Chinese citizen with a non-citizen card re-entering the country after her deportation in 2018 over alleged illegal mining.
China has the highest citizens with non-citizen Ghana card with a total of 34,712 cards issued to them, being 22 per cent of the 161,007 citizens from 202 foreign countries.
Nigerians constituted the second-largest citizens with non-citizen Ghana card with a total of 25,873 cards, while 20,110 bearers were citizens of India.
Per the figures provided by NIA, the cards issued to Germans constituted 4,329; Lebanon, 4,324; United Kingdom (UK), 4,133; South Africa, 3,194; 2,222; Cote D’Ivoire, 2,150 and Gabon, 1,958 cards.
Providing an update on the number of cards issued in the country so far, Prof Attafuah said as of September 15, 2022, a total of 17,163,081 people had been enrolled onto the NIA system, with 16,627,326 cards printed, and 15,869,026 cards issued.
The Executive Secretary said the Authority had introduced a robust system to verify all cards of Ghanaians for the purpose of transacting businesses with banks and to verify non-citizens who would use the card to apply for or renew their residence permit, open or run a bank account in the country.
On the celebration of the International Identity Day, Prof Attafuah asked African countries to heighten efforts to ensure that the citizenry had legal identity to foster social, economic and political inclusion.
He said the country would leave no chance in ensuring that the Ghana card became “the single source of proof,” noting that the Authority, since January 2021, introduced a verification system, which made banks authenticate individuals who used the card for various transactions.
“With this verification system, if you go to the bank with or without your Ghana card, with your fingerprint, the bank is able to verify your identity as part of KYC (Know Your Customer) and give you a service,” Prof Attafuah noted.
The Executive Secretary hinted that NIA would from November 2022 start the registration of Ghanaians abroad and embark on an exercise to register children in the country between the ages of four to 15 in December 2022.
Meanwhile, registration for the card for refugees would start next week, Prof Attafuah said.
He said continuous registration would also be carried out in all 16 designated regional and all 275 district offices of NIA.

Made with citrus, ginger, turmeric, apple cider vinegar, and omega rich Udo’s Oil 369 Blend from Flora, these immune “shots” are bursting with powerful nutrients that can help support your immune system and act as a digestive aid. Plus, they only take a few minutes to prep!
Healthy, delicious, and packed with plant-based nutrients with medicinal qualities, these Ginger Turmeric Omega Immune Shots will nourish your system and help boost your immunity in time for cold and flu season.
Bursting with superfood goodness, these healthy “wellness shots” are made with a few simple, but powerful fresh ingredients, including fresh ginger, turmeric, and citrus. Udo’s Oil, a special blend of healthy plant-based oils, adds plant-based omega fatty acids in an optimal ratio to help support the immune system.*
Take these shots daily to promote healthy immunity, or double up when you need extra support. Either way, your body will love them.
The best part is these wellness shots are incredibly easy to make. For the quickest prep, let your juicer do the work. If you don’t have a juicer, we’ve included a blender/straining method that is more labor intensive but will still get the desired result.
Ingredients You’ll Need For the Immune Shots
Lemon: Fresh lemon juice is a rich source of vitamin C, an antioxidant that can help support the immune system and assist in activating immune cells. [1, 2, 3] The body can’t make vitamin C on its own, so it’s important to get lots of vitamin C-rich fruits and veggies in your daily diet. These immune shots can help!
We used half a medium lemon in this recipe, but you can use more if you like. No need to peel your lemon if it’s organic, which also contains beneficial compounds in the oils of the skin and increases the lemony flavor of the shots.
Orange: Also rich in vitamin C, orange adds natural sweetness to these immune shots to balance out the spiciness of the ginger and turmeric and the tanginess of the lemon.
We like using Mandarin oranges for their flavor, but they’re also higher in Vitamin A than regular oranges. [4] Important for healthy immunity, Vitamin A plays an important role in enhancing immune function and regulating immune cell response. [5] Any type of orange variety will do.
Ginger (Fresh Only): Ginger is a potent immune booster with warming, digestive properties, mostly because of its main active antioxidant-acting compound called gingerol. [6, 7]
Fresh ginger is the best! A 2013 study in the Journal of Ethnopharmacology found that fresh ginger supported immune and respiratory health, whereas dried ginger had no effect at all. [8]
You’ll only need a small 1-inch knob of ginger for this recipe. It doesn’t sound like much, but the flavor of ginger, while slightly sweet, is pungent.
Turmeric: Native to Southeast Asia, this antioxidant-rich superfood is from the same family as ginger and has a warm and spicy flavor. Turmeric contains curcumin, a powerful, immune-boosting compound responsible for its bright golden-yellow color.
Referred to as Indian Saffron, turmeric has potent immune and cell-protective properties backed by science and continues to be researched. [9, 10, 11]
We used fresh turmeric for this recipe, which you can find in well-stocked grocery stores or Asian markets. If you can’t source fresh turmeric, dried ground turmeric, unlike ginger, preserves many of its benefits, and may be used instead.
Tip: While incredibly healthy, turmeric stains fingers and anything else it touches. Be sure to use gloves and wipe off surfaces immediately.
Raw Apple Cider Vinegar (with the mother): Made of fermented apple cider, apple cider vinegar contains nourishing vitamins, trace minerals, antioxidants, and amino acids, but it also has organic acids and bioactive compounds that are believed to be responsible for its immune and digestive supportive properties [12]. It also contains gut-friendly probiotics that support gut health and improve immune function.
When using apple cider vinegar in food preparations, make sure it says “raw” and “contains the mother” on the label. The ‘mother’ is the cloudy substance inside the jar which is made of proteins, enzymes, gut-friendly bacteria, and immune-supporting compounds as opposed to more processed products.
Black Pepper: Black pepper contains a compound called piperine, which research has shown can increase the absorption and bioavailability of curcumin in the body by blocking its breakdown by the liver. One study found that it can enhance the activity of curcumin in the body by up to 2000%! [13, 14].
A pinch is all you need, but if you can’t tolerate pepper, don’t worry. The fat in the oil in this recipe will also help increase absorption. [15]
UDO’S OIL 3•6•9 BLEND for Omega Fatty Acids : Healthy fat can improve the absorption of fat-soluble immune-boosting nutrients and compounds like vitamin A and curcumin in the gut.
Udo’s Oil is a blend of organic flax, sesame, and sunflower seed oils with a rich, nutty, and buttery taste. It’s also a rich source of plant-based essential fatty acids (EFAs) including omega-3s and 6s which are needed for healthy immune function and healthy immune response.*
While most of us get plenty of omega 6s in our diet and not nearly enough omega-3 fatty acids, our immunity can suffer. Recent research has shown that omega-3 fatty acids may play an important role in strengthening immune cells and improving immune response. [16, 17]
Udo’s Oil contains the perfect 2:1 ratio of omega-3 fatty acids to omega-6 fatty acids for optimal health that you won’t find in other plant-based oils.
One tablespoon of Udo’s Oil provides
6 grams of omega-3 fatty acids
3 grams of omega-6 fatty acids
2.5 grams of omega-9 fatty acids.

Tools You’ll Need For This Recipe
A Juicer (Blender for alternative method)
Cutting board
Knife
How to Make the Immune Shots
Step 1: Prep your fruits and spices – As long as they’re organic, you don’t have to peel the lemon and orange if using an auger juicer. You can skip peeling the ginger and turmeric as well. In fact, the oils in the peels can add a more intense flavor and healthy plant compounds. Simply rinse them well before juicing. Cutting into smaller pieces can help the juicer extract all the nutrients.
Step 2: Extract The Juice
Juicer Method: Once you’ve prepped the lemon, orange, ginger, and turmeric, toss them in your juicer. Collect the juice and then get ready to add the rest of the ingredients.
Blender Method: Place into your blender with a little water and blend until smooth. Pour into a cheesecloth and squeeze over a bowl to extract all the juice. Wear gloves, as turmeric will stain! You can also place the mixture over a fine-mesh sieve and allow it to drain into a bowl. Expect some pulp with this method.
Step 3: Finishing The Immune Shots
Whisk in the apple cider vinegar, Udo’s Oil, and black pepper to the juice. This recipe makes about two 2-ounce servings. Divide into two small shot glasses.
Adjust for taste! There’s no right or wrong here. Want more spice? Add a little more ginger. More tang? Lemon is the way to go. If you need a touch more sweetness, add more orange or a bit of raw honey.
How to Take These Immune Shots
Enjoy right away or store in the refrigerator until you’re ready to serve. To reap the most benefits, drink these shots within 2-3 days as the plant compounds and nutrients will break down.
For convenience, you can also make these Immune shots in batches and then freeze them in ice-cube trays. Simply defrost and drink or add to your favorite hot cup of herbal tea anytime you need a boost.

Massive out-of-conference showdowns headline the college football slate on Saturday in Week 3
Sep 17, 2022 at 6:00 pm ET • 4 min read
USATSI
Week 3 of the 2022 college football season is well underway, and there are more than a few compelling matchups remaining on Saturday that headline what could be another wild week of action. On CBS, No. 22 Penn State will become the first Big Ten team to play Auburn in Jordan-Hare Stadium when the two tee it up on Saturday afternoon. This Big Ten vs. SEC showdown sees the Tigers looking for revenge at home after a 28-20 loss to the Nittany Lions in Happy Valley last season.
Elsewhere, No. 6 Oklahoma will rekindle its rivalry with Nebraska and No. 13 Miami will head to College Station, Texas, to take on No. 24 Texas A&M. All kinds of chaos broke loose last weekend during a wild Week 2, including in College Station where Appalachian State topped the Aggies in a stunning upset.
The drama on Saturday should be aplenty, and below we have provided a handy viewer’s guide to help you navigate all of the action. All times eastern.
The best games
No. 6 Oklahoma at Nebraska — noon on Fox, fuboTV (Try for free): Mickey Joseph will lead the Cornhuskers out of the tunnel and into the post-Scott Frost era after the legendary former Cornhuskers quarterback was fired on Sunday. He’ll see old Big 12 rival Oklahoma on the other sideline, and there’s no doubt that a win over one of the most consistent programs over the last decade would ease the tension in Lincoln.
No. 24 Penn State at Auburn — 3:30 p.m. on CBS, CBSSports.com, CBS Sports App (Free): This is a critical game for an Auburn team that not only struggled against San Jose State last weekend but has a coach in Bryan Harsin who was almost run off in February. This could be a pivot point for the direction of the program against a Nittany Lions team that would love to make a big statement in SEC country.
No. 12 BYU at No. 25 Oregon — 3:30 p.m. on Fox, fuboTV (Try for free): The college football world seemingly wrote off the Ducks after they got smoked by Georgia in Week 1, but first-year coach Dan Lanning could erase that disappointment with a win over a Cougars team that topped Baylor in a double-overtime thriller last week. If you haven’t watched Cougars quarterback Jaren Hall spin it, give him a look.
No. 11 Michigan State at Washington — 7:30 p.m. on ABC, fuboTV (Try for free): The Huskies lead the Pac-12 in passing and the Spartans pass defense was its Achilles heel last year despite its win over Pittsburgh in the Peach Bowl. We’ll know a lot about both teams after what should be a fun atmosphere inside Husky Stadium.
No. 13 Miami at No. 24 Texas A&M — 9 p.m. on ESPN, fuboTV (Try for free): This game was already dripping with intrigue due to the desperation from the Aggies after losing to Appalachian State last week, and a statement could be made by the Hurricanes with a win in SEC country. Coach Jimbo Fisher has reportedly made a quarterback change from Haynes King to Max Johnson, which cranks the interest up even more.
Best of the rest
No. 1 Georgia at South Carolina — noon on ESPN, fuboTV (Try for free)
UConn at No. 4 Michigan — noon on ABC, fuboTV (Try for free)
