RIYADH, DUBAI: KPMG announced OTO as the winner of the second annual KPMG Private Enterprise Tech Innovator competition on September 7, 2022, recognizing the most impactful and promising start-up in Saudi Arabia.

The winner was chosen based on six parameters: disruption and innovation, market potential, customer adoption, market traction and marketing, long-term potential, and pitch quality.

Federal flood funds could provide long term, low-interest loans to qualifying Texans

HOUSTON (CW39) — When North Texas got pounded by mass rainfall, roads turned to rivers in August. Now, federal assistance may be on the way to help those impacted by the torrential rains.
Governor Greg Abbott today directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management with the U.S. Small Business Administration to determine the state’s eligibility for assistance following last month’s major flooding event in North Texas.
Following a review of damage assessment information provided by Texans utilizing the State of Texas Individual Assessment Tool (iSTAT), state and local officials believe the flooding damage is sufficient to meet the requirements for a declaration by the SBA.
“The State of Texas thanks all North Texas residents impacted by the August flooding event who submitted damage information through the self-reporting damage surveys,” said Governor Abbott. “This information has helped local and state officials determine eligibility for federal assistance, and we are working swiftly to help Texans and ensure our communities are provided with all resources available at the state and federal level to recover.”
State officials believe that of the more than 1,200 submissions to the iSTAT reporting tool, over 75 provide adequate damages to qualify Dallas and contiguous counties for federal disaster assistance through the SBA.
If approved, federal disaster assistance through SBA would be available for impacted Texans in Dallas County and Collin, Denton, Ellis, Kaufman, Rockwall, and Tarrant counties. The program would provide long-term, low-interest loans to qualifying Texans through the SBA’s disaster grant programs.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has approved the draft Industrial and Business Development policy, which aims to attract Rs 5 lakh crore investment in five years.
Mann approved the draft policy on Saturday, an official statement said on Sunday.
“With a vision to foster a progressive, innovative and sustainable industrial and business ecosystem in state by transforming it as the most preferred destination for doing business, the chief minister has approved the draft policy,” it said.
The policy will attract Rs 5 lakh crore of investment in five years, increase the share of secondary sector in GSDP to 30 per cent and tertiary sector to 62 per cent and increase the employability of the youth through skilling and increase employment opportunities in the state, the release said.
Mann said that the policy will also facilitate the development of at least 15 industrial parks in the state, attract at least one anchor unit in various manufacturing and service industry sectors, provide power at affordable and fixed tariff for five years to the Industry and upgrade power supply infrastructure to all the industrial areas to provide quality and uninterrupted power.
Mann said that the policy has been meticulously drafted for giving major push to industrial development on one hand and providing employment to youth on the other. It will accelerate growth of startups and promote entrepreneurship by nurturing innovation, improving competitiveness and enhancing capability.
Bhagwant Mann said that policy will also accelerate growth of MSMEs and develop world class infrastructure for the industry including quality and affordable power.
The chief minister said that draft policy also envisages to carry out in-depth study of 10 clusters every year for specific interventions to increase their competitiveness.
It also envisages to upgrade and set up common facility centres in five clusters every year, to upgrade and set up 10 technology centres in the State, to facilitate 1000 start-ups in five years and to facilitate setting up of 10 incubation centres/ accelerators in the State particularly focusing on digital manufacturing, lifesciences (biotechnology), agro & food processing and Information Technology.
He said that it will also help to build strong linkages with all the major educational institutions, to facilitate setting up of 50 Entrepreneurship Development Centres in colleges, to set up one Skill University in the State, to set up one Skill centre for each identified industrial cluster and to set up advance skilling centre on hi-tech manufacturing, design and IT skills for five identified sectors.
Mann said that to facilitate investors the draft policy proposes to scale up Invest Punjab Business First portal for a single unified interface to the industry and businesses for all regulatory and fiscal services.
Bhagwant Mann said that the draft policy has provision for fiscal and non-fiscal incentives for new as well as existing units across all category of units like MSME, large, anchor, border districts, border zone, thrust sectors, private industrial parks and sick units.
Meanwhile, Principal Secretary Industries and Commerce Department, Dalip Kumar said that before the policy is rolled out business fraternity and industry can give suggestions.
He said that as the new policy has to be notified by October 17, so the industrialists should send suggestions within a fortnight.

Fourth-generation Summer Sauté
Ingredients
• Cooking spray
• 1 tablespoon oil (we use olive or sesame depending on the vegetable blend)
• ½ bell pepper, diced
• ½ small onion, thinly sliced
• 3 cup your favorite fresh vegetables, washed and thinly sliced
• 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
• 1 cup fresh baby spinach leaves
• 2 tablespoon fresh herbs, finely chopped (or 1 tsp dried herbs)
• Zest and juice from ½ lemon
Cooking directions
• Spray skillet with cooking spray.
• Add oil and heat over medium-high heat.
• Add onions and peppers, sauté until onion is translucent.

Presented as a “celebration of Made in Italy in the United States”, the exhibition-installation was launched on the initiative of the Italian Consulate in Detroit, as part of the VI edition of the Italian Design Day and the four-year campaign for the promotion of Italian design in Detroit, the only Unesco City of Design in the United States. “It is a vibrant, beautiful city, with a vast cultural offer and in this context we wanted to create a great container to promote the Italian spirit”, says Allegra Baistrocchi, the Italian consul in Detroit. “Design will be the tool with which the consulate will build more bridges” with the city, she adds.
The installation, curated by Palomba Serafini Associati, can be visited throughout September in the Bedrock space, at 1001 Woodward Avenue. The work sees the best Italian brands present, with an involvement of the sectors that most characterize Italian creativity in the world, such as fashion, food, furniture, automotive and others. In parallel with the Detroit exhibition, the ‘LoveITDetroit Metaspace’ was inaugurated on 7 September, created by Wedoo. It will be the ‘digital twin’ of the physical installation. This virtual event will allow users to “live” the installation experience, interacting with it and with the objects present.
The virtual space is accessible through the website www.loveitdetroit.com. The exhibition is “a sort of Italian village, with the elements of the arch, the wall, the avenue, the garden, and the ‘piazza’ at the center”, says architect and designer Roberto Palomba, creator of the installation. “Inside the space are installed objects and exhibits that are a synthesis of Italian know-how”, adds Palomba: from Armani clothes, to design and furnishing objects, to Brembo brakes, to Technogym wellness machines. The installation, Palomba anticipates, will also participate in the Compasso d’Oro Award. In addition to the possibility of visiting the installation for the duration of the Detroit Design Month, events will also be organized that will focus on the various declinations of Made in Italy design: aerospace, mobility, fashion, furniture, graphics and digital art.

Election deniers and elected officials who back rioters from the Jan. 6 insurrection are responsible for eroding the United States’ reputation on the world stage, Vice President Kamala Harris said in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” to be broadcast Sunday.
“Through the process of what we’ve been through, we’re starting to allow people to call into question our commitment to those principles,” Harris said. “And that’s a shame.”
The remark was in response to a question by host Chuck Todd about the message that internal threats to American democracy send to the outside world.
Attacks on democracy are “very dangerous, and I think it is very harmful. And it makes us weaker,” Harris said.
She recalled her time on the Senate Intelligence Committee, and said her colleagues on the committee were focused on national security threats in a nonpartisan way.
Threats to democracy from within the country should be approached in the same way — “as Americans, instead of through some partisan lens,” Harris said.
The vice president declined to directly address a question from Todd about Democrats’ meddling in Republican primaries this year.
“I’m not going to tell people how to run their campaigns, Chuck,” Harris said to Todd.
Democrats have garnered criticism for funding hard-line Republican candidates in primary elections In order to boost their own chances with moderates in the general election.

Springdale, Ark – Tyson Foods announced Sept. 7 its commitment of $2.5 million to address food insecurity by partnering with Feeding America member food banks to provide greater access to protein in communities facing hunger. This September, during Hunger Action Month, Tyson is also donating 2.5 million pounds of protein, the equivalent of 10 million meals, to alleviate hunger.
Tyson Foods will allocate $1 million of its donation to support Equitable Food Access grants, which aim to improve access to nutritious food among people experiencing the highest rates of food insecurity, with a focus on communities of color and/or people living in rural communities.
“Tyson has been a long-time partner of Feeding America, as their mission to improve access to nutritious food for all, is aligned with our mission to Feed the World. This partnership with Feeding America to expand capacity and help rural communities and communities of color is the next step in our evolving strategic partnership,” said Tim Grailer, senior director, Tyson Foods. “With inflation putting pressures on the charitable food system, both increasing their costs and the need for their services, there has never been a more important time to support these efforts.”
The remainder of Tyson’s $2.5 million donation will go toward Feeding America and member food banks’ efforts to expand capacity to repack bulk or private label protein products into family size quantities, thus increasing the types of protein that can easily be donated and distributed. Rich Tighe appointed CNS President and CEO
Oak Ridge, Tenn. — Richard “Rich” Tighe became president and chief executive officer for Consolidated Nuclear Security effective Tuesday, Sept. 6. He replaces Gene Sievers, who had served as CNS’s acting president and CEO since July.
Tighe assumes leadership for both of the National Nuclear Security Administration production plants under CNS’s contract: the Pantex Plant in Amarillo and the Y-12 National Security Complex, in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Sievers returns to his singular role as the Y-12 site manager, and Colby Yeary will continue to serve as CNS’s chief operating officer.
Tighe (pronounced “tie”) joins CNS after nearly four years as president and general manager of National Aerospace Solutions, the Bechtel-led test operations and sustainment contractor for the U.S. Air Force’s Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold Air Force Base near Tullahoma, Tenn. Before serving in that position, Tighe led business development for Bechtel’s Nuclear, Security, and Environmental global business unit, which included work with the Departments of Energy, Defense, and Homeland Security; the National Aeronautics and Space Administration; commercial nuclear power; and governments of U.S. allies. He was elected a Bechtel principal vice president in 2016. He previously worked for nearly a decade at the Nevada Test Site (now known as the Nevada National Security Site).

Rainfall across Texas brings relief, but drought remains
Rainfall across Texas and cooler temperatures provided agricultural producers some relief from drought and extreme heat over recent weeks, but most areas remain in a moisture deficit. “We’ve seen drought contraction across the state, and last week’s rainfall should show improvement in the upcoming drought monitor later this week,” said John Nielsen-Gammon, Ph.D., state climatologist in the Texas A&M College of Geosciences Department of Atmospheric Sciences. “But the rain is over for now. It looks like we’re now entering a dry stretch and have seen all the improvement we are going to see for a while.”
AgriLife Extension agronomists Reagan Noland, Ph.D., San Angelo; Jourdan Bell, Ph.D., Amarillo; and Ronnie Schnell, Ph.D., Bryan-College Station, said the rains helped, but noted their respective regions were still gripped by drought.
The most recent Texas drought monitor map produced by the National Drought Mitigation Center at the University of Nebraska shows reduced drought conditions around the state. The Drought Severity and Coverage Index, DSCI, which ranges from 0-500 and calculates the cumulative drought data for an area, showed the drought peaked at 380 on Aug. 8. The DSCI was 251 on Sept. 1.

SOUTH PLAINS: Temperatures were cooler, and more rain fell over the past week. Areas received 1-5 inches across the district. Parts of the district missed good rainfall, but many received enough to fill stock tanks and improve pasture and rangeland conditions. Moisture was expected to help winter wheat and plantings were expected to begin soon. Cattle were in good condition.
PANHANDLE: Crop conditions in some areas improved due to milder temperatures and rain. Soil moisture levels were adequate in most counties, and rangeland and pasture conditions were fair. Some early wheat plantings started for potential grazing opportunities. Irrigation was winding down on many corn fields as they matured. Silage harvest was underway. Some grain sorghum fields were starting to color.
WT Enterprise Center names new managing director
Brian Enevoldsen has been named managing director of the WT Enterprise Center.
A Texas Panhandle native, Enevoldsen previously served as WTEC’s program manager, providing oversight of WTEC’s 31,000 square-foot incubator and multiple programs, including Amarillo EnterPrize Challenge, commercialization, micro-loan packaging and client coaching. In his new role, he will focus on partnerships with local, state, federal, and non-profit organizations that together build a robust ecosystem supporting entrepreneurship across the entire Texas Panhandle.
WTEC and its sister department, America’s SBDC at WTAMU, will continue to provide economic development outreach on behalf of West Texas A&M University to local businesses including joint coaching and consulting, community programs, and training.
“The WTEC and SBDC will continue to be places where we encourage entrepreneurship and support those building our regional economy,” Enevoldsen said. “We believe our region is in store for incredible things, and we stand eager to play our part in making the Panhandle the best place to own and scale a business.”

However, the biggest unknown surrounding the team might be who’s calling plays.
Mike McCarthy’s job security has pretty much been under the microscope since he put pen to paper in Dallas. Some of that was because of the seemingly acrimonious split between he and Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, while others cast aspersions over just how much of a modern coach he could be.

With McCarthy entering his third year for the win-now Cowboys, it may end up as a win-later team with a new bench boss at some point in the coming season.

Mike McCarthy might not sit atop the list, but he’s certainly near the top of it.
Carolina head coach Matt Rhule could be the first coach to get the axe this season if the Panthers stumble out of the gate, though a new quarterback in Baker Mayfield may earn him a little bit more slack. Mike McCarthy job security
McCarthy, though, could rest comfortably near the top of those who may be fired though, if Jerry Jones’ transparent preseason threat is any indication.
“Let me be real clear: He wouldn’t be sitting here today if I didn’t think he was the man to lead this team to a Super Bowl,” Jones said at the start of training camp.
He would not be, and I have choices. That’s not meant to be insensitive to anybody. That’s a fact.
It might not necessarily but what McCarthy does that costs him his job — though, certain decisions during his first two years haven’t exactly inspired confidence — but who is available.
Whispers have oftentimes linked now (sort of) free agent head coach Sean Payton to the Cowboys job, as Payton and owner Jerry Jones are good friends. Those whispers have grown so loud that Jones commented on it earlier this offseason.
“Sean Payton shouldn’t be out there,” Jones said. “For him, the Cowboys, that’s just sheer out of the air. It’s well known we’re good friends and we think a lot of him as a head coach. But in this case, asking the way you’re asking, he shouldn’t be a conversation piece.”
McCarthy has also been aware of the Payton rumors, commenting on them in May.
“It’s a narrative I don’t want to be a part of,” McCarthy said. “I don’t think anyone would want to be a part of it, on either side of the fence.”
McCarthy also said that he has spoken with Jones about the rumors and the duo paid it no mind.
“He addressed (the Payton rumors), we laughed about it, and moved on. That’s really where it is.”
A disappointing end to the 2021 NFL season for Dallas lead to some speculation that McCarthy’s standing in Dallas is less secure than maybe he’d expected. That’s no laughing matter.
This could be the make-or-break year for McCarthy, and if that’s the case, don’t be surprised if a former Saint comes marching in.

Portable solar generators continue to be big business, after a year that saw thousands of people snapping up solutions for power in the great outdoors.
And portable power specialists Jackery continues to be ahead of the game, with an array of products that provide off-grid energy whenever and wherever it’s needed.
I’ve been testing the biggest of its two solar generator solutions, the Solar Generator 1000. Available as a bundle with two of the firm’s SolarSaga panels, which offer a peak solar input of up to 135 watts, it’s one of the best-value bundles on the market.
The Solar Generator 1000 is so-called because it has a running output in its built-in generator of 1,000 watts. It can handle a surge of 2,000 watts, and its 1,002 watts of lithium batteries are more than capable of handling heavy loads.
I’ve already tested Jackery’s Solar Generator 500 setup, which marries up beautifully with a SolarSaga panel, but this updated version packs effectively twice the punch.
Not only that, but there are more charging options thanks, largely, to its larger size. It gives Jackery space to bundle in more outputs.
For example, there are now two three-pin AC sockets, whereas the smaller version has one. There are four USBs over the 500’s three, and there are more inputs too.
It adds up to a far more versatile solution and, happily, it doesn’t add a bit of a burden in terms of size and weight.
Out of the box, the Solar Generator 1000’s main unit, which can incidentally be bought on its own, without the solar panels, feels lighter than you’d expect. Don’t get me wrong, it’s bulky, but it’s lighter than some of its closest rivals, and it still has a robust and durable feel.
I’ve taken both the Solar Generator 500 and the Solar Generator 1000 on camping trips now, and it’s a perfect companion. I was lucky enough to be in bright sunshine, so the energy I used charging phones and e-bikes and other gadgets was quickly recouped by those two powerful panels.
And that’s the marvellous thing about a solar generator, you’re harvesting clean, efficient and emission-free energy and using it to power pretty much anything you like. A 1,000 watt inverter is big enough to power even small heating appliances. So you can top them up when the sun’s out, and then use them overnight to keep warm – or even keep cool, if it’s a warm summer’s evening and you’ve got a fridge and a fan to run.
I’ve also used EcoFlow’s versions of the solar generator solution, and I’m very fond of them. Jackery’s devices do represent better value for money, but EcoFlow’s systems have better displays with more information, and the option to monitor things remotely through an app.
That said, the SolarSaga panels are miles better than EcoFlow’s cumbersome and awkward solar arrays. They fold up neatly and have integrated stands. They’re also far less flimsy, which is good on a campsite.
Charging input comes not only from the solar panels, but also from a 240v wall-socket if you’re back at base. This isn’t especially fast, at 163 watts, taking seven-and-a-half hours to charge fully, but it’s fine for an overnight top-up.
Apart from that, there’s little not to like about the Solar Generator 1000. It’s genuinely good at what it does, and being available for £1,637.99 on the Jackery website – potentially even cheaper if you shop around – it really is hard not to recommend it.

Amp price (AMP) is red hot today, making it the standout performer in Sunday crypto trading action, up 34% at $0.00763.

Also, it should be noted that the Amp governance proposal in March this year to distribute 1% of the fixed total supply to the developers of Flexa-enabled application is yet to be rolled out, so that may be imminent. Such a move could dramatically and rapidly increase the adoption of Flexa.

However, those hopes are inferred from the fact that Jump is. backer of high scalable industrial-scale crypto trading platform Pyth, which runs on the Solana blockchain and by the existence of a wormhole bridge that connects AMP, which is an ERC20 token, to Solana.
But There are only 5 addresses associated with Amp on Solana and zero liquidity, according to community admin Nami that Cryptonews reached out to earlier today on the official Discord for Flexa and Amp payments.
Nevertheless, other evidence of a link comes directly from Jump itself, where under featured projects we note that Amp is included among the 23 cited.
Amp Price – is Coinbase confusing the issue?
It could be that Coinbase is adding to the hopes – and confusion – on the Solana/Jump angle because of its misleading statement in its profile of Amp, in which it says, in answer to the question which blockchain network hosts AMP, that “Amp (AMP) is hosted on the Solana blockchain.”

Does the Amp price pump have legs?
Since trading at its all-time high $0.011, the token has fallen 93% which has also led to it falling out of the coinmarketcap top 100, an important achievement for a crypto asset. Amp is currently ranked 109 on CMC.
Its climb back into the top 100 could help the price to maintain its new-found momentum as this will give it greater visibility in an ecosystem that numbers 20,000 assets, according to CMC data.
Jumping into the market after such a sharp upturn holds dangers for day traders.
However, if you are taking a longer view and focused on the fundamentals, there is much to be liked about this project.

It’s time for new leadership at the Denton Central Appraisal District. There have been too many mistakes, too many troubling allegations, too many county leaders expressing frustration, too many headlines of the wrong kind.
It would take more space than this column allows to detail all the troubles facing DCAD. Our colleague Dave Lieber has done much in that regard. In addition to two years of botched valuations and angry taxing authorities, Lieber most recently uncovered an independent report that called the DCAD work environment “toxic,” followed by what appeared to be a campaign to silence dissent and drum up support for the figure at the center of all this drama: chief appraiser Hope McClure.
Now, there are two more as-yet-unreported problems: a series of lawsuits and a complaint with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.
Flower Mound property owner Mitch Vexler has filed multiple lawsuits against DCAD claiming that the district has violated Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP), the legal standards appraisals work under. Vexler’s property valuation rose 400% in one year, according to records he shared with us. He says DCAD couldn’t provide supporting documentation to show how it arrived at certain figures key to calculating the valuation.
“They’re just making up numbers,” he told us.
We made multiple attempts to contact McClure, but she didn’t return our messages.
Possibly even more concerning, Vexler’s lawyer, Matthew Nowak, gave us the transcript of a deposition in which McClure seems to admit that DCAD permanently lost access to an entire year’s worth of its own records. Nowak said DCAD agreed to a settlement in a dispute with a software provider that stipulated DCAD wouldn’t get those records back. Records retention is part of USPAP standards.
Nowak is open to more clients. Vexler has created a website detailing the complaint and directing potential plaintiffs to contact Nowak.
To make matters worse, last week we learned that a current DCAD employee, a Black woman who asked not to be named, has filed a discrimination complaint with the EEOC, after being unsatisfied with the response she got from an HR complaint. She claims that white employees are being promoted ahead of her, despite her seniority, because of race.
None of these issues has been settled. Neither has the complaint against McClure to the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation or any of the intra-county disputes with taxing agencies who rely on DCAD’s work.
But even if every one of those disputes settles in McClure’s favor, the reputational damage is done. Folks in Denton County, including the county commissioners court, have lost confidence in the leadership at DCAD. This is an appraisal district that can’t get out of its own way. It’s time for new leadership.

The NASCAR Cup Series playoffs goes Hollywood this weekend. Well, sort of.
The Hollywood Casino 400 at Kansas Speedway is the next race up on the postseason docket. Given the way last week’s race turned out, it’s a contest that holds extra weight.
Erik Jones scored a surprise victory in the Southern 500, taking advantage of car trouble for Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr. and Kevin Harvick to take the checkered flag in the No. 43 car.
Harvick now sits right on the chopping block for the next round of the playoffs. He’s 13 points behind 12th-place driver Daniel Suarez. That’s not an insurmountable deficit, but with only one race left after Sunday’s before the field is reduced to 12, it would behoove Harvick to have a good finish at Kansas.
He was on his way to one at Darlington, having climbing inside the top 10, before his car burst into flames.
As last week proved, the playoffs are a thorny affair, with numerous pitfalls and obstacles that can trip up even the most talented drivers. It happened to Busch, Harvick and Chase Elliott last weekend. It can happen to anyone.

Ford Motor, a world-renowned U.S. car maker, is maneuvering towards the -fungible tokens and the metaverse as it files for 19 trademark applications for its American car brands with the U.S. Patent and Trade Office (USPTO).
Ford dipping into the metaverse and NFT or Web3 ecosystem came after the company led by Jim Farley, Ford Motor CEO, and Bill Ford, Ford executive chairman, has had mass layoffs in the effort to cut down on company expenses which kind of looked like a company redirection of sorts.
Ford Motor To Roll Out Digital Goods, Entertainment Services
In reference to the filed documentation, Ford is planning to offer SUVs, vans, automobiles, and trucks in downloadable text, artwork, video, and audio files in NFTs.
More so, Ford Motor will also have virtual goods that are downloadable and used mainly in virtual worlds such as automobiles, trucks, SUVs, vans, gears or clothing, as well as vehicle accessories and parts.

The company is also planning to host virtual car online exhibitions via Augment Reality (AR) and Virtual Reality (VR). Based on the submitted trademarks, Ford Motor can offer NFTs in a specific online marketplace allowing the company to sell virtual cars and clothing gears under Ford, Troller, and Lincoln.
Mike Kondoudis, licensed trademark attorney of USPTO, announced on a Twitter post on Wednesday that Ford Motor has filed 19 trademark applications that cover car brands under its wings such as Lincoln, Mustang, Explorer, Bronco, and F-150 Lighting; to name some.
Ford Follows Lead Of Chevy, Lambo, And Bentley
Ford Motor seems to be following the lead of other American auto giants like Chevrolet which hosted an NFT event in June 2022 featuring a Corvette Z06 NFT in lime green which also comes with a free 2023 Corvette Z06, a physical or actual vehicle.
Chevrolet’s auction was launched at SuperRare, a famous NFT marketplace with an opening bid set at ETH 206. However, despite Chevrolet’s aggressive marketing and promotion, the auction had crickets or amassed zero bids.
Earlier, luxury car brands that include Lamborghini and Bentley have already launched their respective NFT collectibles. Other automobile brands like Hyundai, Toyota, and Nissan have also announced their plans to join the metaverse and NFT space.

The global crypto market was down this week a bit as sellers have become more active in the market. Most cryptos are traded in the red. Bitcoin started the week trading at the $19,000 range but fell to the $18,000 level in the mid-week.
Bitcoin (BTC) was more than 71 per cent down from it’s all-time high by touching its lowest since July 12 as investors moved away from the riskier assets. One of the reasons for the downward trend could be because of the long US Labor Day holiday weekend.
But, the market started showing some signs of recovery on Thursday and scaled up aggressively on Friday. BTC rose by nearly 10 per cent and regained its $21,000 position back. This means that buyers are now ready for the midterm rise. If bulls can hold BTC above the $20,575, we could also see it trade above the $22,400 level soon.
The second largest cryptocurrency, Ethereum (ETH), continued to trade sideways, extending its previous weekend’s steadiness into the early week.
On Friday, after following the rise of BTC, ETH also rose up by 5 per cent. The crypto has made a false breakout of the local peak at $1,745. If ETH can hold above the vital $1,700 level, we may expect it to reach $1,800 and then the $2,000 might be on cards.
Overall, the last working day of the week has turned out to be bullish for the crypto market as most cryptos continue to trade in the green zone.
As the US central bank signals to reverse course from monetary tightening to monetary easing in 2023, where it will lower interest rates, this news has given traders and investors some hope.
In an exciting turn of events, in the largest crypto ecosystem in the world, the Japanese authorities have become the first to reward their local officials with NFTs. The government has awarded NFTs to the local authorities for their excellent work, who used digital technology to solve local problems.
MicroStrategy (MSTR), a software developer that grew into a corporate bitcoin vault, is planning to sell its $500 million of stocks to buy crypto. In July, the price unveiled the Dubai Metaverse Strategy welcoming more than 1,000 firms to the city to create more than 40,000 crypto jobs by 2030. Blockchain.com joins the ranks of several prominent crypto firms such as FTX, OKX, and Crypto.com.

Sometimes the course of a match, even a whole season, can shift in one fleeting instant. That might well have been the case for FC Dallas and Jesus Ferreira Saturday night.
Hosting league leaders LAFC in a massive Western Conference clash at a sold-out Toyota Stadium – a fixture Ferreira later called “a must-win” – the North Texans were trailing 1-0 deep into the second half despite a DOGSO straight red card for former FCD standout Ryan Hollingshead just minutes into the game.
A Chicho Arango breakaway just before halftime had put the visitors in front and Dallas looked snake-bitten as they chased the game, with a Paul Arriola equalizer waved off by the tightest of offside decisions and some superb saves from Maxime Crepeau.
Then Marco Farfan scrapped tenaciously with his opposite number Franco Escobar for a loose ball along the endline, earning a 78th-minute foul call that infuriated Escobar. As LAFC’s right back complained emotionally, tossing the ball in frustration, Arriola picked it up and made eye contact with Ferreira as the striker lurked in the penalty box.

“We have that chemistry inside the field and outside the field,” Ferreira later said of Arriola, his colleague with FCD and the US men’s national team, in a postgame interview with Dallas’ local broadcast crew. “Whenever we can see each other and sense each other, we know that something’s going to come. So once I saw him pick up the ball, I knew that there was gonna be a play and then I got on the end of it.”
With the Black & Gold defense completely distracted, Arriola played a quick free kick to Ferreira, who stabbed home a clinical, angled first-time finish to level the score and turn the game on its head. Just three minutes later Ferreira struck again for the 2-1 winner, via another set piece that once again featured more brainpower than force or speed.
A Diego Palacios foul on Nanu right on the edge of LAFC’s box prompted a lengthy VAR check to ensure it was not a penalty kick. And as Crepeau prepared for what is almost always a cross in such situations, Ferreira kept his eye on the LAFC goalkeeper’s body shape – and exploited it with a knuckling hit into the far side netting for the win.
“I was talking to the guys and I was telling that I was going to cross it, but I just wanted the ‘keeper to move a little bit. Once I saw him move a little bit, then that’s when I took a shot,” explained Ferreira afterwards. “There’s a lot of guys in the box and I know that anything can happen, and I’m happy that it went in.”
Two restarts, two goals, three huge points – not only for FCD, who are eager to keep stacking up the results they need to stay in the top half of the West postseason bracket and earn the home-field advantage that offers in the Audi 2022 MLS Cup Playoffs, but also for the Philadelphia Union, who are steadily gaining ground on fading LAFC in the race for the Supporters’ Shield.
“Big pride to Javi Cabello, our assistant coach,” said Dallas head coach Nico Estevez postgame. “He has a methodology with the players that he makes the players make the decisions [on set pieces]. Then when we train, we show the opponent, how they position themselves, some of the behaviors and they design the set plays in conjunction with him. He gives advice to them, and then after he selects the ones that they have prepared together as a group.
“We always have that situation where the players have to decide. And then I think it is working, it’s working very well. You could see there how they were very sharp in paying attention on where the situation is and how we can hurt them.”
The brace is also huge for Ferreira individually. It brings him level with his club’s single-season scoring record (18) with three games to go, keeps him in the 2022 MLS Golden Boot presented by Audi race and burnishes his credentials for the USMNT’s starting striker spot at the World Cup this fall.

“I think so,” said Estevez, a former assistant to USMNT boss Gregg Berhalter, when asked whether Ferreira deserves that starting role. “I talked with him: You have to be focused on what you can control in the team. If you do well, they will talk of you. But also, he has the confidence from the staff. He has the confidence from his teammates. He has the confidence from the US men’s national team teammates, because what he does is really good and they value his quality.
“To get into the World Cup, he has to do well with us, and he knows that and he’s showing it. And I think if he keeps doing that, he’ll be ready to do anything that is asked of him.”
Estevez cracked a smile when reminded Ferreira, who’s still only 21 years old, had set a personal goal of 20 goal involvements at the start of the 2022 campaign. (The homegrown turned Young Designated Player is now at 23 and counting.)

“Jesus is a player that always is pushing and I think I remember when he got to 10, and I talked with him and said, now another 10,” said the Spaniard, describing the extent of Ferreira’s tactical and psychological improvement over the course of the season. Notably, Ferreira himself dubbed the night’s win “a message to the rest of the league” about Dallas’ credentials as an MLS Cup contender.
“In these two games that he had to be the captain, I’ve seen him with a different mentality and a spirit. He has carried the team. He has shown a lot of mentality with his effort. And I think he’s a complete player. He’s getting in a spot where if we keep working hard with him, he will be a player that will leave here a lot of good memories for the club.”
