The actress and her husband joined a familiar friend in the Tennessee city.
After a fruitful visit to Disneyland, Kristen Bell and her husband, fellow actor Dax Shepard, traveled to Nashville, Tennessee.
There, they joined a familiar face for fans of Bell’s hit comedy series The Good Place: cast member Kirby Howell-Baptiste, who played Simone.
It looks like Howell-Baptiste and Bell formed a strong connection while working on the fan-favorite show, as the two had a great time in Nashville.
Bell posted a handful of pictures from the trip of herself, Shepard, Howell-Baptiste, and actor and model Larry Fields, who Howell-Baptiste wrote a children’s book called Little Black Boy: Oh, the Things You Will Do! with.
Howell-Baptiste and Fields are likely partners as well, as the two attend many events together, and it looks like they share a pet cat, but nothing has been publicly confirmed.
Bell captioned the update, “#bristol baby! Thank u @nascar for the fun Nashville for the style and @kirbyhowellbaptiste and @iamlarryfields for being the best travel buddies. And as always the hostess with the mostess @hays_estes.”
The four watched a Nascar race at Bristol Motor Speedway, ate some good food together, and in Bell and Howell-Baptiste’s case, wore matching jewelry.
(scroll to keep reading)
They also got a photo with Nascar driver Bubba Wallace, while another picture shows Shepard lifting Bell up for a dramatic kiss.
Howell-Baptiste commented on Bell’s post, “SEXY,” about the pair’s matching rings that spell out the word.
Many fans loved seeing Bell and her former co-star together again, with one person commenting, “MY BEST DUO.”
In The Good Place, Simone first appears at the beginning of Season 3, when the crew is sent back to Earth in an experiment to see if they can become better people.
She dates Chidi (William Jackson Harper) for a while, showing up again later in the afterlife.
Now, Howell-Baptiste stars in Netflix‘s The Sandman as Death, while Bell voices Abby in Central Park.

Healthy Lifestyle: Why You Should Avoid Consumption Of Trans Fats Others Daily Trust
‘Healthy Lifestyle: Why You Should Avoid Consumption Of Trans Fats, Others’ – Daily Trust https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/healthy-lifestyle-why-you-should-avoid-consumption-of-trans-fats-others-daily-trust/
….Eat margarine in moderation—FG
The federal government has advised Nigerians to adopt healthy lifestyles in order to protect themselves from diseases and live long.
Dr Salma Ibrahim Anas, Director Family Health, Federal Ministry of Health, stated this in Abuja during the ministerial briefing and update on COVID-19 response and other developments in the health sector.
She said maintaining healthy lifestyle involves choices you make about what you eat, and attitude towards your environment among others.
She said every choice one made has an impact on his or her health.
She warned Nigerians against the consumption of trans fats, saying they are very dangerous to health.
Trans fats are a form of unsaturated fat, and can be either natural or artificial. Artificial trans fats are mostly formed during hydrogenation, a process in which hydrogen is added to vegetable oil to form a semisolid product known as partially hydrogenated oil.
Dr Anas said, “Unfortunately a lot of unhealthy fats have infiltrated our markets but we are working very closely with the National Agency for Food and Drugs Control and Administration (NAFDAC) to ensure that we avoid these fats.
“Our fats are hydrogenated, called trans fats and this is done to make them solid, so that they don’t burn off easily in the frying pan.
“But unfortunately, most business marketers, especially those that are in the food business, use trans fat and this is what is mostly used today in bread making, in cakes and several other snacks that we consume every day.”
While saying that trans fats generated a lot of problems to the circulation system, she said it caused people to have heart problems.
Dr Anas said Nigeria has one of the highest incidences of heart problems in Africa, all as a result of the consumption of unhealthy fats.
“Most of the fats have cholesterol and most of these fats are low-density cholesterol which is very dangerous, and it is called the bad fat.
“But there are healthy fats which give you high-density cholesterol. So we encourage Nigerians to be very careful and avoid all things that are trans fat,” she said, adding that margarine is a common form of trans fat.
“Nigerian should avoid it as much as they can. Nigerians like margarine, they even ask you to send it to them even when they are abroad, and they will tell you they want the Nigerian margarine; that Nigerian margarine is trans fat, we should avoid it as much as we can.”
She said Nigerians should generally eat healthy. “Most Nigerians will say they have access only to carbohydrate foods, but we have a lot of fruits, vegetables and can also balance with different varieties of protein and healthy fats. So, it’s not just quantity but quality is also vital.”
Advising on other ways Nigerians can maintain a healthy lifestyle, Dr Anas said, “I will start by saying drink a lot of water. Water is supposed to be priceless.
“Nigerians should drink adequate water to ensure that they are well hydrated at all times – whether it is during the cold or hot weather – to maintain their hydration.
“They should also ensure adequate sleep, a minimum of eight hours per day. It is very important and very critical so that you can refresh yourself.
“Exercise is very important too, and we must exercise at least 30 minutes’ walk per day. If you can do it most days of the week; you should walk to ensure that you are living healthy.”
The doctor also advised against smoking shisha saying it is one of the major causes of lung cancer in the country.
“Some people even go the extreme by adding some perfume to shisha before smoking it, and this causes so many health challenges in the country,” she added.
She also advised people to have a work-life balance, saying one has to be alive before one can work.
“We should make the right choices so that we remain healthy and live long and make meaningful contributions to the development of Nigeria,” she added.

Edwards caught one of two targets for two yards during Sunday’s 31-27 loss to the Rams.
Edwards played just 16 snaps in Week 2, third among Atlanta’s wideouts behind Drake London and Olamide Zaccheaus, but London was the only Falcons‘ pass catcher to record more than two receptions. After securing his first catch of the season on Atlanta’s opening drive, Edwards wasn’t targeted again until the fourth quarter, but the pass was intercepted by Jalen Ramsey in the end zone.

The UAE To Simulate Planned Mars Manned Mission In The Metaverse NFTgators
The UAE To Simulate Planned Mars Manned Mission In The Metaverse – NFTgators https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/the-uae-to-simulate-planned-mars-manned-mission-in-the-metaverse-nftgators/
Quick take:
The United Arab Emirates will simulate its panned mars manned mission in the metaverse.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) will offer support for the development of the simulation.
The project plans to capture the feel of being in space and setting foot on the red planet.
The United Arab Emirates will simulate its planned mars manned mission in the metaverse. The middle eastern country has laid out a plan to send people to the red planet in the year 2117 but wants to make the experience as real as possible 95 years prior to the day.
The Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre (MBRSC) will collaborate with Web3 pioneer Bedu to create a unique metaverse experience that will bring the touch and feel of the red planet to life 95 years before the mission date.
The project also aims to establish the challenges of colonising another world, an announcement published on Monday reads.
Commenting on the project, Adnan Al Rais, Mars 2117 programme manager at the MBRSC, said: “As we set our sights on ever more challenging destinations for exploration with humans and robots, innovative ideas and future thinking will be critical to helping us reach new milestones. Concepts like this will be supported by MBRSC as we believe this will help us expand our scope of bigger possibilities.”
The UAE has been one of the leading early adopters of the metaverse and web3. Earlier this year, Dubai revealed a multi-pronged strategy for the metaverse that could create more than 40,000 jobs for the city.
In June, another of its top cities, Ajman launched a virtual police service to help the public by letting them interact with avatars of officers, while one of the country’s largest mall operators Majid Al Futtaim teamed up with leading crypto exchange and blockchain investment company Binance to launch its web3 strategy.
But now, the UAE wants to take things further into space with its latest metaverse project.
The MBRSC will form a committee to work in close collaboration with Bedu. The committee will among other tasks offer advisory, and share data and information on space and Mars.
In return, Bedu will offer its expertise in educating MBRSC about web3 and non-fungible tokens (NFTs), which have played a key role in accelerating the adoption of the metaverse.
Amin Al Zarouni, CEO of Bedu, commented: “The UAE is known throughout the world as a pioneer. As it takes its place as a frontrunner in the race to put the first humans on another world, we congratulate Mohammed Bin Rashid Space Centre for its recent successes and the bold scope of its planned future endeavours.”

5 Ways To Convert Your Home Movies To Digital AARP
5 Ways To Convert Your Home Movies To Digital – AARP https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/5-ways-to-convert-your-home-movies-to-digital-aarp/
The important thing is to do this sooner rather than later. Then you can organize them effectively. And you have options.
1. Connect to a computer
If you still have a working VCR or camcorder, you can connect it to your computer using a “middleman” gadget. They’re often called a video capture card or analog video-capture device, and you plug them into the back of your playback machine.
See more Technology & Wireless offers
RCA cables — yes, the company you grew up with invented these connectors — are included: yellow for video, and red and white for left and right audio. The other end of this gadget has a USB connector you plug into your PC or Mac. Some also have an HDMI cable that plugs into modern TVs.
These products can cost as little as $16, though more premium offerings with extra conversion features may be closer to $70. If these products don’t come with software to record the video on your computer, you’ll need to download an application on your own.
Before you pay, try a free version to see if it does the trick, such as Open Broadcaster Software (OBS), Studio, VirtualDub or VideoLAN Client (VLC), Alternatively, Microsoft Video Editor is part of Windows 10 and Windows 11, and iMovie is already on your Macintosh computer or available as a free download.
2. Record directly onto memory cards
If you don’t own a computer or prefer to bypass the computer directly, there are gizmos that plug into the back of your H8, MiniDV camcorder, VCR or Betamax machine. That way you can record directly onto a flash storage device, such as an SD memory card or a USB stick.
Products such the Hi8 VHS VCR to Digital Converter 3.0 ($116.99) or the ClearClick Video to Digital Converter 2.0 ($159.95) include a small display so you can view what you’re digitizing. You’ll need to pick up SD memory cards or USB drives on your own, but they’re relatively affordable.
Once your home movies are stored on flash drives, you can insert them into a computer to view and copy them onto an external hard drive. Many TVs have a USB port, so you may be able to watch them on a big screen.
3. Use a DVD recorder
While not as popular as a few years ago, “ripping” your old tapes onto recordable DVDs is still a viable option. As long as you have a DVD or Blu-ray player, a computer with a DVD drive, or a video game console such as one in the PlayStation or Xbox family, you can watch DVDs packed with your memories.
Along with a DVD recorder or a DVD recorder drive on your computer, you’ll need to pick up some blank DVDs. Because DVD recorders can be tougher to find these days, you might consider buying a used one on Craigslist, eBay, Facebook Marketplace or Nextdoor. Remember to review the seller’s rating or reputation before you buy.

U.S. Presses Tunisia Once A Bright Spot Of Arab Spring On Democracy The Washington Post
U.S. Presses Tunisia, Once A Bright Spot Of Arab Spring, On Democracy – The Washington Post https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/u-s-presses-tunisia-once-a-bright-spot-of-arab-spring-on-democracy-the-washington-post/
The Biden administration is pressing Tunisia’s leaders to reverse steps weakening the country’s democracy, exposing friction with a nation once seen as the most promising of those who experienced Arab Spring revolutions.
U.S. officials describe efforts to urge Tunisia to embrace a different political course as President Kais Saied continues to consolidate power more than a decade after Tunisians’ uprising against their then-strongman leader helped touch off revolutions in countries from Syria to Egypt.
A senior State Department official said U.S. officials have expressed their concern about events including a recent constitutional referendum that significantly strengthened the powers of Saied, who took wide-ranging steps to weaken institutional checks and sideline political opponents in 2021 in what critics called a “self-coup.”
The U.S. moves include talks between Saied and Barbara Leaf, the State Department’s top official for the Middle East. During a visit to Tunis last month, Leaf conveyed worries about a new constitutional framework “that weakens Tunisia’s democracy and how crucial going forward an inclusive and transparent reform process is to restore confidence of the Tunisian people,” the official said, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive diplomatic discussions.
The public critiques have roiled the U.S.-Tunisian relationship. In July, Saied’s government reacted angrily to a statement by Secretary of State Antony Blinken raising questions about a constitutional referendum vote marked by low voter turnout.
“Tunisia has experienced an alarming erosion of democratic norms over the past year and reversed many of the Tunisian people’s hard-won gains since 2011,” Blinken said.
Saied’s government rejected what it called unacceptable “interference in the national internal affairs” following Blinken’s statement and summoned the top official at the U.S. Embassy in Tunis.
Saied’s office said the Tunisian leader pushed back on allegations laid out by Leaf in their meeting and “called on the American authorities to listen to their Tunisian counterparts to find out the reality of the situation,” Middle East Monitor reported.
U.S. officials have sought to forcefully nudge Tunisia while avoiding a total rupture with a nation whose cooperation on counterterrorism is seen as a crucial element of U.S. strategy for North Africa. Tunisia, with a population of nearly 12 million, for its part values U.S. military support and needs America’s backing as it seeks a deal with the International Monetary Fund.
“This partnership is going to be strongest when we have a shared commitment to democratic principles,” the senior official said.
While most Arab Spring revolutions ended in conflict or strengthened autocracy, Tunisia made significant strides to build its democratic process after the 2011 ouster of longtime leader Zine el-Abidine Ben Ali.
But public discontent has festered over joblessness and other pocketbook issues. Responding to those frustrations, the steps by Saied, a former constitutional lawyer, have resonated with some Tunisians fed up with the country’s post-revolution path. Others have grown increasingly alarmed.
Sarah Yerke, a former State Department official who is now a scholar at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, said the series of U.S. visits to Tunisia and public statements about its political process had been “effective in that they let Saied know someone is watching.”
“This kind of consistent drumbeat … is preventing him from taking Tunisia down an even further path,” she said, referring to the potential for Saied to take additional steps concentrating power in the Tunisian presidency.
The Biden administration has adopted a more critical stance than its European allies, many of whom are focused on deterring migration via North Africa. Citing Democratic reversals, the Biden administration has proposed a large cut to U.S. military and economic aid to Tunisia.
The senior official said the United States was ready to help Tunisians forge an accountable democracy including free debate, freedoms, and in “establishing checks and balances that are critical to the health of all democracies.”
He declined to characterize Saied’s response to Leaf’s message but said: “Friends need to be able to speak directly to each other.”
U.S. officials believe their pressure may be having the effect of heading off even more problematic steps, like a more dramatic crackdown on the media and civil society groups.
On Friday, Tunisia published a new electoral law that reduced the size of the country’s parliament and lessens the role of political parties. But it did not, as some U.S. officials had feared it might, take more worrisome steps like prohibiting candidates affiliated with parties from participating in upcoming legislative elections. Some opposition groups plan to boycott the vote.
The senior official said the Biden administration welcomed the law as a step toward enabling broad participation in the elections.
“An inclusive and transparent reform process is so crucial going forward,” the official said.

Molly saw large amounts of material around self-harm, suicide and depression on social media
Almost five years after she took her own life, the inquest into the death of teenager Molly Russell is due to begin.
Molly, 14, killed herself in 2017 after viewing material about self-harm, suicide and depression, on social media sites such as Instagram and Pinterest.
Her father Ian, a campaigner for online safety, hopes it is a turning point.
“I hope that we will learn lessons and that it will help produce the change that’s needed to keep people safe, to keep people alive,” he told BBC News.
Mr Russell believes long-term exposure to harmful material contributed to Molly’s death.
Molly’s story provided fresh impetus for new legislation to regulate so-called big tech companies. The Online Safety Bill is still making its way through Parliament and is due a third reading in the Commons.
Meta, which owns Instagram, and Pinterest are officially taking part in the inquest, which is due to last two weeks. It will hear evidence from executives from both companies, after they were ordered by the coroner to appear in person.
Meta is likely to be questioned about a number of internal documents revealed by the former employee and whistleblower Frances Haugen. These include research carried out by the company into the impact of the platform on the mental health of young people.
‘Pretty dreadful’ content
In the last six months of her life, Molly used her Instagram account up to 120 times a day, liking more than 11,000 pieces of content. She is thought to have used the image-sharing site Pinterest more than 15,000 times over the same period.
The coroner, Andrew Walker, has already been warned that some of the content is “pretty dreadful” and difficult even for adults to look at for extended periods of time.
Ged Flynn, chief executive of Papyrus, which works to prevent suicide in young people, said Mr Russell’s campaign to prevent future deaths was “a hugely significant contribution to the agenda of suicide prevention in this country”.
“We have to change the way we accept the power of the tech giants,” he said.

Others believe that the inquest may prove to be a “watershed moment”. Andy Burrows, head of child safety online policy at the NSPCC, said: “Molly’s death is a tragedy that is all too relatable to all parents who worry about the risks their children face online.
“For the first time we will see big tech representatives questioned under oath about how their products may have contributed to the death of a child.”
A Meta spokesperson told the BBC: “Our deepest sympathies remain with Molly’s family and we will continue to assist the coroner in this inquest. We have never allowed content that promotes or glorifies suicide and self-harm.”
In a statement, Pinterest told BBC News: “Combating self-harm is a priority for us as we strive to ensure that Pinterest plays a positive role in people’s lives.”
However, Matthew Bergman, a lawyer from the Social Media Victims Law Centre, in Seattle, in the US, says the proceedings will be closely watched in North America.
“Regardless of the outcome, the fact that Meta senior personnel have been forced to testify in a proceeding like this one is a significant step toward accountability.”
Activists Target Texas State Students To Pass Pot Reform Measure San Antonio Express-News
Activists Target Texas State Students To Pass Pot Reform Measure – San Antonio Express-News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/activists-target-texas-state-students-to-pass-pot-reform-measure-san-antonio-express-news/
SAN MARCOS — Activists are turning to Texas State University students to increase voter turnout in San Marcos as part of a push to decriminalize low-level marijuana offenses.
Proposition A, as it will be listed on San Marcos voters’ ballots in November, seeks to decriminalize possession of up to 4 ounces of marijuana in the city. Getting the item on the ballot has been a months-long effort by Hays County social justice group Mano Amiga and Ground Game, a Texas voter engagement organization.
San Marcos is just one city on an ever-growing list pushing for decriminalization. Mike Siegel, Ground Game Texas political director, said his group also is working with organizers in Killeen, Harker Heights, Denton and Elgin to bring forward similar ballot measures.
The city of Austin voted 85 percent in favor of decriminalizing low-level marijuana offenses in May.
And San Antonio might be next. Siegel said activists are planning for a potential ballot measure for San Antonio’s May 2023 election that would have a series of justice reforms, including marijuana and abortion decriminalization and a ban on no-knock warrants.
Decriminalizing marijuana in San Marcos and other cities would mean that there would be no tickets or arrests for Class A and B misdemeanor possession. It would prevent police from testing for the content of THC, which gives marijuana its high. Additionally, police would no longer be able to make arrests based on the odor of marijuana.
“We need to be keeping people out of jail and saving scarce public resources for more important public needs,” Siegel said. “But we also think this is a way to build a broader movement for criminal justice reform and a way to engage more young people and infrequent voters.”
For San Antonio’s upcoming efforts, Siegel said Ground Game is making plans with community groups including ACT 4 SA, an organization that pushes for police accountability . Though nothing is official yet, he said, organizers hope to start gathering signatures in San Antonio next month and continue through the end of the year to qualify for the May ballot.
In San Marcos, activists said they noticed the need to get Texas State students registered to vote in recent months when collecting signatures to get the decriminalization proposition on the ballot. More than 11,000 people, many of them students, signed on, but fewer than 5,000 of those signatures could count toward the effort because people’s voter registrations were not up to date.
It’s a major issue among college students who Siegel said often don’t realize that they need to update their registration to their current address rather than where they are from if they want to vote in local elections or sign petitions.
At the start of the semester, Mano Amiga launched a student chapter of its organization, said Elle Cross, Mano Amiga right to justice coordinator. She said the team now has seven people who spend four days a week getting people registered.
“No one should be incarcerated or locked up or have to go through the complicated legal system for minor possession of marijuana,” Cross said during a Monday news conference about the launch of the student-focused, get-out-the-vote campaign. “It is traumatizing, it is expensive, it is complicated. People should not have to go through that.”
Sam Benavides, Mano Amiga’s communications director, said that beyond decriminalizing marijuana, organizers also want to focus on students to try increasing the political efficacy in that demographic by showing them “that they are capable of creating change.”
Two candidates who will be on November’s ballot spoke in support of Proposition A during the news conference — Kelly Higgins, Democratic candidate for Hays County district attorney, and San Marcos Place 1 incumbent Councilman Maxfield Baker. Higgins said that if elected, he wouldn’t file possession of marijuana cases at the misdemeanor level.
Texas State students Jadon Jones, 18, and Karsten Johnson, 22, registered to vote after the news conference. Both said it was their first time registering to vote in Texas and that they support the effort to decriminalize marijuana.
“You shouldn’t be treated like a criminal for something natural,” Jones said.
Oct. 11 is the deadline to register. Early voting starts Oct. 24. Election Day is Nov. 8.

Why Should Your Family Take A Road Trip? Experiences Along The Way Deseret News
Why Should Your Family Take A Road Trip? Experiences Along The Way – Deseret News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/why-should-your-family-take-a-road-trip-experiences-along-the-way-deseret-news/
On a beautiful September afternoon in Murray, Utah, Jason Miller and his wife Deb are set to load the tricked-out van they call “the camper” for a road trip weekend of camping and a music festival.
Typically their 8-year-old daughter, Teagan, doesn’t help out with the loading process, but this time she decided to pitch in. And as many helping hands make light work, Teagan brought her stuffed animals and some of the family bags over to the car to help prepare for a fun family weekend in Torrey and Capitol Reef National Park. It would be a few days filled with music, s’mores around the fire and time spent in nature in their family van.
“The camper came to be because we love going out on the road and we wanted to up our game. We don’t use it for every road trip but we do use it for most,” Jason Miller said.
Why drag the whole family away from home for days at a time? Miller said it’s for the experiences his family has while on the road together.
“We road trip for a lot of reasons, but having new and exciting experiences are at the top of the list. We love exploring, visiting friends and family, and we even love going to some of our favorite places again and again,” Miller said.
Shared experiences playing the license plate game, asking “are we there yet?” and going through the good and the bad of traveling across the country together are quintessential aspects of the all-American family road trip.
While generations have enjoyed this type of vacationing, where did the family road trip get its start?
World War II’s influence on American travel
The real major event that kicked off the road tripping boom was the end of World War II, according to Richard Ratay in his book, “Don’t Make me Pull Over!: An Informal History of the Family Road Trip.” When the draft and enlistment took young men away from home for the first time in their lives, they got to see more of their nation for basic training and then were sent off to different parts of the world to fight for America.
After seeing the world, these young men came back with a travel bug, Ratay explained, right as they were starting to have families amid the baby boom. “They had all these kids because of the postwar economic prosperity that America was going through at that time,” Ratay said.
American automobile factories were producing large numbers of cars at the time thanks to their increased productivity and efficiency during the war. “America all of a sudden had young men who were interested in travel with new families, lots of money, lots of time, lots of cars, and that was really what spurred the travel boom,” Ratay said.
Suddenly the country was full of families packing up their station wagons to go on vacation.
All of these elements might not have ultimately amounted to much without the final key ingredient: the interstate highway system. The Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956, which authorized the construction of the 41,000 mile interstate highway network across America, was a major factor that brought family road trips to fruition.
“Legislation was passed to start funding construction of the interstate, of course, in 1956, but it really took America 25 years to build those interstates,” Ratay said.
With all of these pieces in place, the 1960s brought the true launch of the family road trip craze, which peaked in the 1970s. After the interstate highway systems were born, they expanded from coast to coast while automobiles were becoming a permanent part of the American lifestyle.
Jason and Deb Miller pack for a family road trip with one of their daughters, Teagan, 8, at their home in Murray on Friday, Sept. 2, 2022.
Jeffrey D. Allred, Deseret News
What made family road trips popular?
Ratay can still remember waking up as a kid at 3 a.m., packing up the car and heading out on a family road trip to beat the Chicago rush hour traffic back in the mid 1970s.
His family was on an Indiana interstate when suddenly the car started spinning. Magazines and coffee cups went flying and eventually the car hit a sudden stop. Ratay recalls the interior of the vehicle being completely dark as all the windows were completely caked in snow.
Ratay’s family car, along with 40 others, had hit a patch of black ice and spun out of control into a ditch. Thankfully, there were no collisions, but his family and others were stranded on the interstate waiting until someone could come by and help get them out of the ditch. To pass the time, Ratay recalls his family setting up camp on the side of the road where they played family games, sang songs and tried to shovel snow off the car.
They were eventually rescued and headed back on their journey, he told the Deseret News.
Family vacations became especially popular during this time as they allowed people to learn about the country in a time where technology couldn’t.
“We as kids had a very little idea of how big America actually is and how different people and the culture of America can be at distant ends of the country,” Ratay said.
Ratay said road trips were educational experiences for him and his family growing up.
“It was eye opening that so many different people, from different backgrounds, could exist in the same country together,” Ratay said. “We didn’t have 400 channels that people are constantly seeing today among other technological advances, and so road trips were a firsthand experience of understanding the way other people lived.”
Road trips also opened the door to visit multiple “must see” destinations across the 50 states.
“I remember going to various baseball stadiums across the west, camping and backpacking throughout Utah, visiting national parks, Disneyland, driving through an actual tree in the redwoods, and collecting ash after Mt. Saint Helens blew,” Miller said.
With modern technology and air travel, most memorable sites can be easily reached. Despite the changing world, the magic of the family road trip can still happen for families — and still does today.

Road trip magic
While parents today may not be able to preserve the magic of the family road trip experience as it was in the ’70s and ’80s, Ratay said the best way to try is to explore off the freeway.
“The thing that I would urge travelers and parents today to do is to get off the interstate and go to some of these places. Research the route you’re taking as well as the destination, make time and find curious and interesting little things along the way to stop at,” Ratay said.
Ratay said one of his all time favorite road trips was when he took his own family to see Mount Rushmore a few years back.
“We rented a big RV and we made the quintessential road trip out west to go to Mount Rushmore. It was a fantastic experience, and I think what made that trip so great was the stops we made along the way that made it memorable,” Ratay said.
Since the COVID-19 pandemic created hybrid work opportunities for some, Miller said having the option to work remotely has helped his family realize they can discover more of the country as they work from the road.
“I am fortunate to work from home, which also means I can work on the road. So why not take advantage and see what the world has in store?”
In order to enjoy road tripping, Miller said people have to think of the journey as part of the experience.
“There are so many cool things on the road to pull over and experience. Road tripping takes more time than flying. If COVID taught me anything about work-life balance, it’s that it’s important to spend as much time as I can with my family and friends doing the things we love,” Miller said.

FAA Rejects Airline Request To Hire Less-Experienced Pilots 69News WFMZ-TV
FAA Rejects Airline Request To Hire Less-Experienced Pilots – 69News WFMZ-TV https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/faa-rejects-airline-request-to-hire-less-experienced-pilots-69news-wfmz-tv/
Federal officials have rejected a request by a regional airline facing a pilot shortage to hire co-pilots with half the usual minimum amount of flying experience, saying it would reduce safety.
Republic Airways asked for permission to hire pilots with at least 750 hours of flying time if they complete the airline’s training program. However, the Federal Aviation Administration said that it was in the public interest to maintain current standards, which generally require 1,500 flight hours for a co-pilot.
Smaller carriers called regional airlines were once allowed to hire co-pilots, who are called first officers, with as few as 250 hours of flying experience. But the minimum was increased after a 2009 Colgan Air plane flying for Continental Airlines crashed near Buffalo, New York, killing all 49 people on board and one on the ground.
While the minimum is 1,500 hours, pilots with military experience or a degree from an approved university program can qualify with less experience. Republic argued that its program, run by a wholly owned subsidiary, would be comparable to military flight training.
“After full consideration of Republic’s petition for exemption and the public comments, the FAA has determined that the relief requested is not in the public interest and would adversely affect safety,” the FAA said. The FAA also said that Republic’s curriculum and training is not comparable to that of the military.
Republic CEO Bryan Bedford said he was disappointed but not surprised by the FAA’s decision. He said the agency didn’t give the airline’s request the review that it deserved.
“Despite the rhetoric to the contrary, our proposal would enhance safety by providing students a highly structured, mission-specific training approach,” Bedford said in a statement. He said Republic’s approach would increase the number of pilots and help counter shrinking air service in small and mid-sized communities.
Republic and other regional carriers argue that the FAA must consider new standards for licensing pilots — beyond counting up their flying hours — because of the difficulty and expense of accumulating 1,500 hours in the air. Republic estimated the cost of flight training and tuition leading to a degree at a public university at about $171,000, compared with $75,000 at its academy.
However, the FAA said it is “overly simplistic” to think that granting Republic’s request would address “a perceived pilot shortage.”
The nation’s largest pilots’ union disputes the notion that there is a shortage, saying there are enough qualified pilots if airlines did a better job of retaining pilots, and if regional airlines boost pay and ease grueling work schedules. The union praised the FAA’s rejection of the Republic request.
“This decision is a huge win for aviation safety and for the flying public,” said Joe DePete, president of the Air Line Pilots Association. He vowed that the union would oppose “any other efforts that seek to evade, undermine, weaken, or repeal first officer qualification, experience, and training requirements.”
The FAA received nearly 100 comments on Republic’s request, divided between supporting it and opposing it.
Republic uses smaller planes to operate mostly shorter routes for big airlines under the Delta Connection, American Eagle and United Express brands. The airline is based in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Knowing The Risk Factors Can Help Reverse Prediabetes WDIO
Knowing The Risk Factors, Can Help Reverse Prediabetes – WDIO https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/knowing-the-risk-factors-can-help-reverse-prediabetes-wdio/
According to the CDC, about 37 million Americans suffer from diabetes. That’s 1 in 10 people. And when it comes to prediabetes, it’s around 4 in 10 people. In short, diabetes affects an astounding number of people, but there are things we can do.
Kelli Timmersman, the Director of Healthy Living at the Duluth Area YMCA, stopped by The Lift to talk prevention, “Type 2 diabetes is when you body become resistant to insulin so you are no longer able to successfully use the glucose that you put into your body.” She adds we might be a risk due to a variety of factors which include:
Having an immediate family member who suffers from diabetes
Those over the age of 45
Being overweight, having high blood pressure
Leading an inactive life style
Being diagnosed with gestational diabetes during pregnancy
You can watch out for pre-diabetes by looking out for these risk factors or getting a blood sugar test at the doctors. This test offered through the CDC can help you with your own self-assessment.
There are preventative measures you can take, like simply getting moving and being mindful of what you eat. The Duluth Area Family YMCA offers a free class that can help foster lifestyle changes. You can visit the Duluth Area YMCA’s website for more information. The next class is on October 4th.

MLB Power Rankings: The Nine Most Important Series Remaining In Final Weeks Of 2022 Regular Season – CBS Sports https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/mlb-power-rankings-the-nine-most-important-series-remaining-in-final-weeks-of-2022-regular-season-cbs-sports/
Two-and-a-half weeks. That’s all we have left in the 2022 Major League Baseball season. It’s flown by, right?
Or has it? I’m convinced there’s a paradox in each baseball season for those of us who live and breathe with it on a daily basis.
On one hand, it’s easy to say something like “it seems like just yesterday it was Opening Day!” I don’t have a strong argument against it. I remember back in March when I was actually worried about the season being shortened, perhaps even drastically. It doesn’t seem all too long ago that a deal was finally struck and the owners ended their voluntary lockout of the players. We rejoiced.
Like I said, it doesn’t feel like that long ago.
Then again, remember debating whether or not Clayton Kershaw should have been removed from his perfect game after seven innings? Doesn’t that feel like ages ago? It really does for me. It feels like a looooooooong time ago. It was April 13. By the end of the World Series, the beginning of the season will have seemed exponentially further back.
It’s a grind that goes quickly and such a statement only makes sense to those of us still paying close attention. If you know, you know.
With the limited time left in the regular season, here are the nine best series with playoff implications for both sides. We’ll focus on the games where both teams are likely to have something to gain and something to lose, so you won’t find a team like the Dodgers or Astros listed. (The series are listed in chronological order.)

1. Mets at Brewers, Sept. 19-21 – Sweeping the doubleheader against the Giants on Sept. 8 seemed to get the Brewers back in their groove. They are now a serious threat to the Padres and Phillies for a wild-card spot. And the Mets, well, they are in a fight to the finish with the Braves. Big one here to start the week.
2. Blue Jays at Phillies, Sept. 20-22 – In all likelihood, both teams are safely in the tournament, but a collapse could doom either and there’s jockeying within the wild-card spots for seeding. The Jays could be looking upward, too, and we’ll get to that in a second.
3. Guardians at White Sox, Sept. 20-22 – The two teams only have three games remaining against one another. The White Sox desperately need to damage the Guardians before Cleveland finishes with a six-game series at home against the hapless Royals.
4. Braves at Phillies, Sept. 22-25 – It’s not head-to-head in the sense that they would be fighting for the same spot, but the Phillies could harm the Braves’ chances to take the NL East while the Braves could make the Phillies fall out of playoff position. Hurting a rival is always fun, right? And both need to keep winning in their own right.
5. Blue Jays at Rays, Sept. 22-25 – It’s a four-game series, so while it looks like both teams will safely grab wild-card spots, there’s always the chance a sweep here opens the door for the Orioles to climb back into the picture.
6. Yankees at Blue Jays, Sept. 26-28 – It could be over by the time this series is played. The Yankees might not be totally out of the woods, though. The lead right now is 5 1/2 games. If the Blue Jays can have it around four or five games and then sweep the Yankees, all of a sudden it’s a race to the finish.
Royals at Tigers, Sept. 27-29 – Just kidding. Two bad teams and I certainly wouldn’t expect Royals fans to ever pay attention unless their team is in the playoffs. Can’t stray from their brand.
7. Rays at Guardians, Sept. 27-29 – This is the last time the White Sox could get help — and they desperately need it — with the Guardians playing a worthy opponent. Also, the Rays could, possibly, be fighting for either a playoff spot or the AL East crown. At the very least, seeding will matter and it could lead to this being the exact same matchup in the wild-card round on a quick turnaround.
8. White Sox at Padres, Sept. 30-Oct. 2 – The White Sox could be eliminated by this series, but if they are breathing down the necks of the Guardians — or, somehow, leading the AL Central — this is a big one. The Padres could be dealing with the Brewers and/or Phillies for the final playoff spot, too. Maybe do-or-die games for both teams? That would be fun.
9. Mets at Braves, Sept. 30-Oct. 2 – Here we go. The best remaining series baseball has to offer. Assuming it stays this close (), it’ll be somewhat similar to a playoff series. Sure, the loser still makes the playoffs, but the stakes are high. Can we get greedy? Let’s get greedy. Please, Baseball Gods, let these two teams be tied heading into the series. We don’t ask you for much!
Obviously, these aren’t the only series worth watching and there are plenty of possible playoff previews (the Rays and Astros square off twice and the Dodgers play the Cardinals, for example).
The point is, while the grind is winding down and playoffs feel imminent, there are still plenty of regular-season series worth our attention.

Dodgers
From the 1884 Brooklyn Atlantics through the 2016 Los Angeles Dodgers, this franchise had seen six 100-win seasons. Since then, there have been four 100-win efforts out of five full seasons.
—
101-44
2
Astros
The Astros are very likely to join the Dodgers with four 100-win years out of the last five full seasons. This franchise previously had just *one*.

96-51
3
Braves
I have an NL Rookie of the Year vote this season and I’m having a blast tracking the top two. Looks like a fight to the finish.
—
91-55
4
Mets
It’s easy, and, yeah, obvious that the Mets should have to pay for getting swept at home by the Cubs in the midst of a furious divisional race. But the Braves barely even made them pay for it! The Mets really might’ve dodged a bullet there before getting right against the hapless Pirates.

93-55
5
Yankees
We’re officially in “watch every single Aaron Judge plate appearance” territory. I mean, you should have been doing it the last few weeks anyway, but now it’s as serious as it gets. Also, in addition to the homers, he’s now slugging .701. No one has slugged over .700 in a full season since Barry Bonds in 2004 (.812, which … lol).
1
88-58
6
Cardinals
There’s been so much focus on Albert Pujols’ pursuit of 700 homers and then this past week, rightfully, on Adam Wainwright and Yadier Molina setting the MLB record for most games together by a battery that Paul Goldschmidt’s unreal season has been a bit on the backburner. The MVP frontrunner is still within striking range of the first NL Triple Crown since Hall of Famer Joe “Ducky” Medwick in 1937.

Blue Jays
Blowing that game Sunday did some serious damage to their chances at the AL East.

8
Rays
Great to see Shane McClanahan return, but even greater to see five scoreless innings against the Blue Jays.
1
82-64
9
Padres
It’s been six outings since Josh Hader’s last meltdown. He’s struck out seven in six innings with only one walk and three hits in that span. Juan Soto had two hits, including a home run, Sunday, too. Maybe things are trending the right way.

10
Guardians
They’ve won 11 of their last 14 and have effectively knocked the Twins back to where they shouldn’t matter. Can the Guardians finish?

11
Mariners
I didn’t even mention the Mariners in the intro, but it wasn’t an oversight. It’s because the rest of their schedule is pathetically weak (A’s, Royals, Rangers, A’s and Tigers). Should be smooth sailing. Then again, they just got swept by the Angels.
4
81-65
12
Phillies
That’s now four straight losses and they have to deal with the Blue Jays and Braves this coming week. They better stop messing around or they’ll be left out.

Brewers
They’ve won seven of their last 10. They do have series against the Cardinals and Mets remaining, but four against the Reds and Marlins each should bode well for their chances to keep pushing the Phillies and Padres.

Orioles
Of the top eight in bullpen ERA this season, the Orioles look like the only team that won’t make the playoffs. This was a group full of retreads or “never-will-bes” heading into the year. The closer was traded in late July. If this is a glimpse of how they’ll develop pitching, they could be scary good down the line.
1
76-69
15
White Sox
Feels like they probably need to sweep the Guardians, right? It’s the last head-to-head chance and you’d prefer needing minimal help from other teams.
1
76-71
16
Red Sox
Xander Bogaerts could be the one preventing Aaron Judge from winning the Triple Crown. I guess that’s what they have left to play for.

71-75
17
Twins
I did not include the Twins in the intro, as they are six games out. A win Monday gets it to five and the Twins do have six games left against the White Sox. They’ll need a lot of help, but they aren’t dead.

73-74

Giants
I realize that almost everything that could have possibly gone their way last season did, which is how they won a ridiculous 107 games. Still, to go from that to *this* means they should be prepared for a very aggressive offseason. They can start with an effort to bring Aaron Judge home.

Justin Halladay On Entrepreneurship: From The Corporate World To The Metaverse Native News Online
Justin Halladay On Entrepreneurship: From The Corporate World To The Metaverse – Native News Online https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/justin-halladay-on-entrepreneurship-from-the-corporate-world-to-the-metaverse-native-news-online/
Details
Justin Halladay is the President of JJ3B LLC. An entrepreneur and philanthropist with his hooks deep into the Metaverse, Halladay has been climbing up the corporate ladder for decades until switching his attention to entirely new frontiers. With a background in corporate offices, including a stint in the World Trade Center, Halladay has enjoyed a unique background and upbringing that has led him to lead the entrepreneurial life he is presently living.
More than just another investor in the tech space, Halladay prides himself on engineering change and motivating others through his work, efforts, and thought leadership. With a careful focus on future technology as well as an understanding of how people work, Halladay opened up through a series of interviews to share thoughts, tips, and tricks with others that would seek to follow his path.
Let’s break down the life and times of Justin Halladay to better understand his motivations, efforts, and goals. We’ll explore his past as well as some of his philanthropic outreach programs along the way, as well.
Getting Started on the Right Foot
Tech entrepreneur and NFT investor Justin Halladay would begin his career in the realm of small businesses, working with one office or another for more than 15 years. During this time in business development, Halladay would find gainful employment with global corporations, small offices, and prestigious offices alike.
Moving to New York, Halladay would find himself operating under the banner of Morgan Stanly Dean Witter for more than six years. After departing from the sector, Halladay would travel to Jacksonville Beach, where he would found his own small software development company. Working in this sector would introduce Justin Halladay to new concepts and ideas, allowing him to travel from New Jersey to Philadelphia and back again to Florida.
While much of Halladay’s early life was spent jumping from one venture to the next, he was fulfilling his skills and building his future along the way. In fact, it was this widespread approach to work that helped Halladay so much. When asked how he managed to cultivate the career he presently enjoys, Halladay simply stated, “By synthesizing my skills and interests.”
Building Ideas with Legs That Last
From real estate to sales and into the very Metaverse itself, finding a commonality between these businesses can take more than a single glance. For Halladay, everything connects through the realm of technology.
Halladay says, “I have always gravitated to technology. I spent 15 years of my corporate life in and around technology.”
It only makes sense then that Halladay would turn toward technology in the Second Phase of his professional career, turning toward the burgeoning world of NFTs and digital real estate to pioneer his next efforts.
Described as something akin to the Future of the Web, the Metaverse is simply a network of interconnected virtual worlds. While not ostensibly new, the Metaverse provides immersive digital environments where individuals can connect, socialize, and engage in commercial activities. Consider shopping or going to a concert, but all from the comfort of your home.
As our physical world continues to intertwine with the digital experience of today’s day and age, entrepreneurs like Justin Halladay are going to be increasingly rewarded for their early efforts. Recently, Halladay has been focused on acquiring digital land in a real estate market within the Metaverse. According to a report in 2021, the Metaverse saw real estate sales exceeding $500 million.
Among some of the early adopters of this metaverse real estate industry are the team of beer veterans at Miller Lite. Miller Lite chose to open a virtual bar during the halftime show of the Super Bowl, allowing more than 20,000 avatars to interact within a single day. The Miller Lite bar experience saw an average guest interaction time of nearly 23 minutes, something unheard of in the world of marketing.
While the Metaverse is still in its early and speculative stages, the real estate engine within the digital realm seems to be operating at full capacity and efficiency. Atari Games, Snoop Dogg, Adidas and other major names in the media world have already plucked up notable parcels of digital land as they prepare for what could be the next big real estate boom.
Justin Halladay and the Metaverse
As the Metaverse continues to grow in lockstep with the hype surrounding it, Justin Halladay and his team are exclusively focused on building the parcel of their land into a true gaming empire. Halladay underscores the fact that his real estate in the Metaverse will be dedicated to gamers who want to play to earn currency. At the time of this writing, Halladay has five games built into his parcel of land through the NFTWorlds Project.
Halladay says of the gaming parcel on the Metaverse and the games within it, “We’re building a casino that you’ll be able to engage with millions of players alike all over the globe. If you like going to the casino, you’ll be able to play slots and blackjack and roulette to win tokens.”
The tokens alluded to above are usable for both experiences and content, allowing gamers to purchase additional perks through their efforts. Halladay went on to explain, “People will be able to play our games and generate crypto coins as they reach certain levels. I’m excited about that one.” “This is a true GameFi Project that will create a multitude of opportunities to the masses!”
Similar to the first round of social media development in the early aughts, the Metaverse currently exists in a time and space that is concrete and nebulous all at once. It is hard to predict who or what will create the next Facebook, but the Metaverse is looking like a promising platform to start the search.
Success as an Entrepreneur
While much of what Halladay is focused on revolves around technology and the metaverse, his success as an entrepreneur is hardly tied to the current medium itself. Rather, Halladay built a foundation of practices, beliefs, and mindsets that helped sculpt him into the successful entrepreneur that he is today.
Halladay found out early on in his career that it was imperative to find quality mentorship that you could rely on. Halladay says that much of his success is owed to the mentors who guided him along the way. Halladay stated in an interview with Ideamensch, “I have a great team of partners and friends to bounce ideas off and evolve them into solutions and eventually products and services.”
Aside from working with his close team of advisors and mentors, Halladay understands that consistency is the undercurrent to success. Without hard work, dedication, and focus, you can quickly fall behind the rest of the pack. Perhaps most importantly is disciple of which Halladay says without, he would not be where he is today.
Halladay stated, “I believe success in whatever you are trying to accomplish, no matter how good or great one might be without consistency and discipline, the results will not be there.”
While focusing on generating consistent efforts at work, Halladay touts relationship-building as an additional skill to focus on. Generating connections and keeping those relationships alive has helped Halladay consistently build his future into the being that it is today. Halladay says, “With the right people in my corner, I can achieve anything.”
Rounding out his advice for entrepreneurs looking to follow in his footsteps, Halladay suggests that people get into the habit of writing down their goals to stay accountable to them. Halladay says, “There is something about writing down goals and seeing them every day. This is one of the keys to wealth building.”

Head Coach Brian Daboll
Q: I want to ask you about (cornerback) Adoree’ (Jackson). When you have a corner playing at the level he’s at, what does that do? How important is that for you guys’ defense?
A: It’s important. He’s really done a good job since we’ve been here. I think he’s bought into what we’re trying to do. I think he’s had a really good camp, and that’s led into a strong start to the season. I have a lot of confidence in him, and I’m glad he’s part of our team.
Q: And just specifically, the way you guys are going to play with so much pressure and so aggressive, you really can’t do that probably if your corners aren’t capable of f playing on an island. Like some systems, you maybe hide a corner; it feels like here you probably can’t.
A: I think (defensive coordinator) Wink (Martindale) does a good job though of mixing up. There’s a variety of way to play to pressure, as I know Wink has talked to you about. You can bring only four guys and consider it a pressure and do different things on the back end in terms of your coverage systems. I think Wink does a good job of mixing that up, and Adoree’s been a very dependable player for us.
Q: I wanted to ask you about the start of the last two weeks. The offense has kind of gotten off to a slow start as compared to the second half of the games. What can you do to maybe expedite things a little bit, get them going on a faster tempo and being more productive as far as scoring opportunities?
A: That’s an important part of the game for us is trying to get off for a fast start. That doesn’t always happen. The last two games are the only two games to go by in terms of the regular season. So, we’ll continue to work at that and put together some good openers. It takes everybody – the coaching, the playing – everybody. And it’s something we’ll work on.
Q: Is it possible that you might consider like an up-tempo or a no huddle offense to kind of jump start things?
A: I think we go into the week and the game trying to put together the best plan we can. And I think the offensive coaches do a really good job. Again, we haven’t had the results that we’re hoping for, but I believe in the process and the preparation that those guys do. We’ll continue to try to do a better job at that.
Q: I know you’ve been talking about competition and that leading into playing time and the way players are used in the games since training camp. A lot of coaches talk about that, not a lot of coaches always follow through on that. It seems like they just throw everybody out there the way things were. A – do you think that players believed you before the season started, that that’s the way you were going to treat things? And two – is it difficult for the players to accept that kind of role?
A: I think those are two good questions; I think they’re best questions for those guys. All we try to do is the very best we can as a coaching staff; we have high standards in terms of going out there, preparing well, practicing well. Each week is a different week. I know we talked about this yesterday. The receivers, Slay (wide receiver Darius Slayton), he was active but had a few reps. Kenny (wide receiver Kenny Golladay) didn’t have a lot. And if you look at the defensive side, sometimes it’s planned. You know, (inside linebacker Austin) Calitro had five. In the previous week, he had 40-plus. So, we’ll try to do what we think is best for our football team. I think that’s the most important. I think you just are open and honest with the players of what their role is, what they need to do to improve and let those guys go out there and compete it off each week. Again, we’re kind of at the introductory stages of our program and what we’re trying to do, and I think competition is the best thing for everybody.
Q: When you make a decision when it pertains one of the highest paid players of the team, do you have to check above you to make that call? I’m talking about Kenny, obviously. Do you have to check with (general manager) Joe (Schoen) or (president and chief executive officer) John (Mara) and make sure that’s okay?
A: Joe and I collaborate on pretty much everything in our building. I bounce ideas off of him; he bounces ideas off of us. I think something we want to create is as competitive of a team as we can. And regardless of where you’re drafted, how you got here, how much money you make, we believe in everybody goes out there and competes, and we play the guys that earn the right to play that week.
Q: Any (defensive lineman) Leonard Williams update?
A: It’s his knee. But it’s better than it could be. So, he’s day-to-day. He said he feels a lot better than he did yesterday. He’s walking around, so we’ll just take it like we normally do with these things each day. So, hopefully he’s a fast healer.
Q: So that day-to-day means?
A: Day-to-day.
Q: Another defensive question for you, I guess two parts. What did you think of the way Dane Belton (safety) played, and how did his play allow you to do some different things defensively with (safety Xavier) McKinney and (safety Julian) Love?
A: It was good to have him out there. I thought he played fast. It was his first NFL play, and he recovered a fumble there on the kickoff. He’s been a guy, as a young player, that’s been right in the back hip of those guys when he was injured. You can tell his preparation paid off. Just like a lot of the guys, there’s certain things he can improve on, like all of us. I thought he played fast. It was good to have him out there in terms of the defensive packages. I think that’s something each week. You go into a game, offensively you look at things. What do you like to do? How do you like to match up? We certainly do that there, and Wink does a great job, along with the defensive staff, of figuring out what we need to do for that particular week. So, for this week, it was good relative to how Carolina played the weapons that they had and the matchups we thought were in favor of us if we played it a certain way.
Q: A bunch of your players in the locker room, and you said it before, they said one of the keys to this team is they’re not afraid of failure. I’m not 100 percent sure what that means, but are there examples of that that you coached in yesterday’s game that show us that you’re not afraid of failure?
A: Well, I think that you can get bogged down in this league pretty quick by making a mistake and letting it affect the next play. The other thing I think for play callers is you put together a plan you prepare during the week. You explain it to the players, and then when you get into that situation, I’ve been there before, (you think), ‘Oh boy, should I really call this?’ I think (offensive coordinator) Mike (Kafka) – I think that was a great example at the end of the game there with the pass play that Mike called and put it in DJ’s (quarterback Daniel Jones) hands. I think we really had good communication from Mike to the quarterback. Again, that was discussed probably a couple plays before. He knew the play he wanted to go to. And then those two plays, back-to-back plays, where (safety) Tony Jefferson made the tackle on (Panthers running back) Christian McCaffrey. That was a great play; one of the plays of the game that allowed us to get to third-down and get that sack with Julian (Love). Pretty aggressive play calls, I’d say both on Mike’s end and on Wink’s end. So, again, I want them to be themselves, play fast, play free, move onto the next play. We all make mistakes. I’m probably the leader of that. Once you make them, don’t let it linger. Move onto the next play. The next step is the most important.
Q: Would an example of that (be) – tell me if I’m on that mark with this or not – about maybe not worrying about consequences and have the conviction. You call for (running back) Gary Brightwell, Mike makes that call. (Running back) Saquon (Barkley) is in the backfield. So, if Gary Brightwell drops the ball or gets stopped for no gain, it’s easy for me to come to you and say, ‘Just give it to Saquon.’ Isn’t that the easiest thing to do? Why do you give it to a guy that has one career rush? So, is that also like, ‘I’m not afraid to fail in that situation because I believe in this play?’
A: Yeah. I think – well again – our job as a coaching staff is to do the very best we can to prepare those guys and put plays in that we think are going to work. You’re never sitting up there at night drawing up a play going, ‘Boy, let’s call this play. We only got probably about a 10 percent chance to hit it.’ You spend a lot of time on it. Do they all work? Absolutely not. There’s been times where – let’s just call it a gadget-y play or a trick play or maybe something’s that a little bit unique that I’ve called – that it hasn’t worked. And you can’t worry about the criticism that you’re going to get with it if you believe in that play and you think that’s the right thing. And that happens quite a bit, but you have to, again, have conviction in it. That’s why you’re putting the play in or the defense in or the special teams play in, and you just don’t pick it out of a hat. You work at it. You evaluate it. You practice it. There’s been times where you think it’s going to work. You go out there and practice it a couple times during the week, and by Friday night or Friday after practice, you’re throwing it away. So, that’s the job of the coaching staff. That’s what we’ll always try to do here. And I’m pleased with how those guys prepare and the preparation that they put in, much like the players.
Q: How difficult is it as a play caller when you’re not having success with the run to stick with it in the second half, and how would you evaluate Saquon’s game yesterday? Obviously, it wasn’t the same numbers as the first game, but in many ways, i...

Bank Of America Market Strategist Says ‘Summer Rally Is Over’ As Crypto And Stocks Slide Ahead Of Fed Rate Hike This Week – Economics Bitcoin News – Bitcoin News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/bank-of-america-market-strategist-says-summer-rally-is-over-as-crypto-and-stocks-slide-ahead-of-fed-rate-hike-this-week-economics-bitcoin-news-bitcoin-news/
Digital currency markets, precious metals, and stocks dropped another leg down on Monday following the drop markets saw last Tuesday. Last week’s fall was one of the worst weeks in more than three months as market strategists believe a sizable Fed rate hike is coming this week. Bank of America’s analysts led by Savita Subramanian believes the U.S. Federal Reserve “has more work to do,” and an aggressive central bank may be “anathema for stocks that have benefited from low rates and disinflation.”
Crypto, Precious Metals, Equities Show Volatility Ahead of Fed Rate Hike — Pseudonymous Analyst Plan B Says Bitcoin and the S&P 500 Are Correlated but Are ‘Completely Different Worlds’
A hawkish Fed may be like repellent or kryptonite to assets that profited from easier monetary policy and stimulus, Bank of America’s market strategists led by Savita Subramanian said in a note this past weekend. Global assets are having a rough start on Monday as all four major stock indexes on Wall Street started the day (9:30 a.m.) lower following a gruesome week of trading activity last week. By 3:00 p.m. (ET), benchmark stocks saw a slight rebound showcasing extreme market volatility and uncertainty.
Subramanian and his team predict the S&P 500 will lose another 8% this year, and he further stressed that the “summer rally is over.” On Monday, digital currency markets slid 1.61% in the last 24 hours, and the crypto economy is now just above the $900 billion mark at $933.17 billion. Bitcoin (BTC) has lost 1.67% and ethereum (ETH) shed 1.79% against the U.S. dollar during the past 24 hours.
Precious metals like gold and silver saw losses as well on Monday, as gold shed 0.12% and silver dipped by 0.74% against the greenback. Bitcoin markets have been extremely correlated with U.S. equities, but some BTC market analysts believe bitcoin is a very different animal.
“[Bitcoin] and S&P 500 are correlated,” the pseudonymous analyst Plan B tweeted on Monday. “However, in the same period that S&P increased from ~$1K to ~$4K, [bitcoin] jumped from ~$10 to ~$20K. 4x versus 2000x … completely different worlds. Short-term moves are noise, long term trends are the signal.”

Bank of America Market strategists: ‘The Fed Has More Work to Do’ — Greenback Jumps Higher, 10-Year Treasury Notes Tap an 11-Year High
In the meantime, economists and analysts suspect the U.S. Federal Reserve will raise the target federal funds rate by 75 basis points this week. Bank of America’s Subramanian detailed that “the Fed has more work to do” and lessons from more than four decades ago can tell us a lot about combating inflation.
“A hawkish Fed may be anathema for stocks that have benefited from low rates and disinflation (i.e. most of the S&P 500), but lessons from the ’70s tell us that premature easing could result in a fresh wave of inflation—and that market volatility in the short-run may be a smaller price to pay,” the Bank of America strategist’s note explains. Subramanian’s opinion follows the report Bank of America economists revealed in mid-July.

— Sven Henrich (@NorthmanTrader) September 16, 2022
At the time, the bank’s economists said it previously expected a “growth recession,” but the summer forecast suggested a “mild recession in the U.S. economy this year.” On Monday, market analyst Sven Henrich quoted Fed chair Jerome Powell’s statement during a press conference last June, when Powell said: “Clearly, today’s 75 basis point (bps) increase is an unusually large one, and I do not expect moves of this size to be common.” Henrich then mocked the Fed chair by noting the central bank is proceeding to execute the third 75bps rate hike in a row.
While nearly every asset class under the sun is showing a strong connection to inflationary pressures and the Fed’s monetary policy, the U.S. dollar has continued to skyrocket against other fiat currencies. The U.S. Dollar Currency Index (DYX) tapped 109.756 on Monday afternoon (ET) and the euro has met parity with the greenback once again. A single Japanese yen equals $0.0070 per yen, and 10-year U.S. Treasury notes tapped an 11-year high at 3.518% on September 19.

Covid Will Be A Leading Cause Of Death Indefinitely In The U.S. NBC News
Covid Will Be A Leading Cause Of Death Indefinitely In The U.S. – NBC News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/covid-will-be-a-leading-cause-of-death-indefinitely-in-the-u-s-nbc-news/
After President Joe Biden said the coronavirus pandemic was “over” in an interview Sunday, many people were left wondering how to reconcile his comment with the fact that the U.S. is still averaging about 500 Covid deaths every day.
But disease experts said debating whether the pandemic is over overshadows a more important concern: the reality that Covid will remain a leading cause of death in the U.S. indefinitely.
“It’s likely, when we think of the causes of death in our society, that Covid’s on the list probably forever,” said Dr. Bob Wachter, the chair of the University of California, San Francisco’s department of medicine.
“Whether we call it a pandemic or not, it’s still an important threat to people,” he added.
Covid was the third-leading cause of death in the U.S. in 2020, after heart disease and cancer, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The same was true last year, provisional CDC data shows. Since April, Covid deaths have stayed relatively flat, at a weekly average of around 300 to 500 per day. If the trend continues, the U.S. could expect 113,000 to 188,000 deaths a year from Covid, putting it on par with Alzheimer’s, chronic lower respiratory diseases and stroke.
Flu, by comparison, kills about 12,000 to 52,000 people annually. Flu and pneumonia combined were the ninth-leading cause of death in 2020; they fell out of the top 10 last year.
“As we’ve figured out how we’re going to live with this disease in perpetuity, it makes sense to contextualize it as another illness that Americans have to face,” said Dr. Leana Wen, an emergency physician and professor at George Washington University.
Experts said Covid is likely to remain among the U.S.’s 10 leading causes of death for the foreseeable future, regardless of new vaccines, boosters or treatments that might become available.
Predicting Covid’s future death toll
The Institute for Health Metrics and Evaluation, or IHME, a research organization at the University of Washington that regularly models Covid deaths, predicts a decline in Covid deaths over the next two months.
So some experts are hopeful that Covid could drop in the U.S. cause-of-death rankings over time.
“It would not surprise me if we have a similar magnitude of deaths from Covid as we do from flu,” said Dr. Chris Murray, the director of the IHME.
Covid death numbers could also fall if hospitals stop routinely testing people for the virus. That’s because the current death counts may include some people who tested positive for Covid when they were hospitalized but died of other illnesses.
“Having filled out hundreds of death certificates in my life, I know that some of these deaths are ‘with’ rather than ‘from’ Covid,” Wachter said.
Murray estimated that half of annual Covid deaths may fall into that category.
The IHME model predicts a steeper drop in deaths this year if 80% of the public wears masks. Wachter said the country could also lower the death count to “half of what it is today” if more people took advantage of vaccines, boosters or treatments.
The White House coronavirus response coordinator, Dr. Ashish Jha, has said he thinks those measures could lead the number to drop further: “We now have all of the capability to prevent, I believe, essentially all of those deaths,” he said at a briefing this month.
But at this point, Murray said, “most people have moved on” in terms of their behavior.
But … is the pandemic over or not?
Many disease experts think it’s time, or almost time, to declare an end to the pandemic, given the widespread availability of Covid vaccines and treatments, the fact that no variant has overtaken omicron since December and the relatively stable U.S. case and death counts over the last few months.
“If you believe, as I do, that we have reached a new stage of stability, to continue to call it a pandemic purely for the purpose of trying to scare people into doing stuff doesn’t seem right to me,” Wachter said.
World Health Organization Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus struck a similar chord last week, suggesting that the end of the pandemic was “in sight.”
White House officials, too, said this month that the new omicron-specific boosters marked a shift in the pandemic. Covid shots are likely to become annual affairs, with a schedule resembling that of flu shots, the officials said.
“They are feeling like we have to shift our mindset to the long game here,” Wachter said of the White House’s response. “This is no longer an acute threat in the same way it was.”
But other experts think the pandemic phase is very much ongoing.
“If we were to see the number of deaths from Covid down to what we see on an annual basis for flu — somewhere in the 20,000-a-year range — we’ll then say that the pandemic is clearly over,” said Dr. Eric Toner, a senior scholar at the Johns Hopkins Center for Health Security at the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Rachael Piltch-Loeb, a research associate at the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, said that in declaring the pandemic over now, it “seems like we are endorsing this level of disease burden and mortality associated with the virus.”
And Dr. Kavita Patel, a primary care physician who was a policy adviser during the Obama administration, said the virus has to become more predictable before the pandemic can be considered over.
“We need to have some regular patterns, kind of like the flu, so that we can expect certain timing for sickness, certain timing for hospitalizations,” she said. Given that’s not the case, Patel said, she found Biden’s declaration “a bit disturbing to hear.”
After Biden’s comments, a White House official said that the president was speaking about the pandemic in a plain manner and that his remarks mirrored what many people think about Covid today.
Whether the remarks discourage people from getting the updated bivalent booster shots remains to be seen. Piltch-Loeb doesn’t expect Biden’s statement to change many minds.
“Folks who don’t want to get this booster already think that the pandemic is over,” she said.

SBA offers low-interest loans to North Texas businesses, homeowners impacted by August flooding
The Small Business Administration is offering low-interest loans to North Texas businesses and homeowners dealing with serious damage from the August flood. The SBA issued a disaster declaration after a request from Gov. Greg Abbott earlier this week.
BALCH SPRINGS, Texas – Low-interest government loans are now available to North Texans affected by the historic flooding in Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, Denton, Ellis and Kaufman counties last month.
Businesses, homeowners, renters, non-profits and places of worship can all apply for the federal loans.
The government says it is trying to make the process easy.
“We cover the uninsured and the underinsured losses. We cover deductibles, no closing costs on the loans, so we’re just here to accommodate everyone,” said Barbara Nitis of the Small Business Administration’s Office of Disaster Assistance.
Many are still cleaning up from the damage left behind in the August 22 flash floods.
RELATED: Flooding death: Grandmother called husband for help before being swept away
Vanessa Villas and her family lost everything when the floodwaters climbed to 3 feet inside their Balch Springs home.
“It’s been a rollercoaster but we’re finally making some progress we were able to bring our kids back home,” Villas said.
Like many, the Villas did not have flood insurance.
They have taken steps to repair their home at great cost.
“We’re over $15,000 already, easily over $15,000 in trying to get our house back together,” she said. “The whole retaining wall pushed forward and part of it is on the ground pushed to the sidewalk.”
Flooding forces Balch Springs residents to evacuate their homes
Just one month after an out-of-control fire devastated a Balch Springs neighborhood, out-of-control floodwaters devastated another neighborhood in the city.
Krissandra Demus is in a similar situation with her rental property in Mesquite.
Her damage was not covered by her insurance, and she is under pressure from the city to get it fixed.
“The city wants it repaired, but at this time its still in the same situation,” Demus said.
A Small Business Disaster Assistance Center in Balch Springs has opened to help residents.
“We’re here to accommodate for everybody who did suffer from the timeline of Aug. 22-25, which is the flooding for Dallas County and the surrounding counties,” said Nitis.
Krissandra Demus is hopeful assistance from the government can help.
“Just something. It’s kind of unexpected, but it has to be repaired,” she said.
Vanessa Villas is not so sure if she wants the loan.
“It’s getting into more debt, on top of the debt that we’ve already accumulated trying to fix our house. So I’m not too sure,” she said. “I think we’re just going to keep going. Going little by little and we’ll get there eventually.”
The Disaster Assistance Centers will be open at the Balch Springs Recreation Center and the Samuel Grand Recreation Center in Dallas until mid-November for in-person applications.
You can also apply for assistance online.

Tom Waterman 11 Named Assistant Commissioner Of The Atlantic 10 Conference Today At Elon
Tom Waterman ’11 Named Assistant Commissioner Of The Atlantic 10 Conference – Today At Elon https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/tom-waterman-11-named-assistant-commissioner-of-the-atlantic-10-conference-today-at-elon/
Eleven years after landing an internship with the NCAA Division I conference, the Elon alumnus takes on a new title and will continue facilitating Olympic sports regular season events and championships.
What began as an internship continues to yield professional success for Elon alumnus Tom Waterman ’11.
Tom Waterman ’11 was recently promoted to assistant commissioner of the Atlantic 10 Conference.
Following more than a decade of service to the Atlantic 10 Conference, Waterman was promoted to assistant commissioner, according to a Sept. 6 news release. In his new role, Waterman will continue to serve as the league’s primary administrator for Olympic sports regular season events and championships. Additionally, his responsibilities include scheduling, officiating oversight and championship management and execution, as well as management of conference signage and awards.
The Atlantic 10, widely known as the A-10, is an NCAA Division I collegiate athletics conference featuring 15 colleges and universities stretching from New England to the Southeast and Midwest across 22 sports. Since joining the league in 2011 as the communications intern, Waterman has held several roles, including operations assistant and director of operations. Most recently, he spent the last three years as senior director of championships.
“The most exciting part about the role is the continued opportunity to be able to provide high-level championship experiences to the A-10’s student-athletes and coaches,” Waterman said. “The A-10 has been a great fit for me both personally and professionally. In my 11 years here at the A-10, I have been fortunate to have the opportunity to work in a variety of areas and gain meaningful experience in a profession that I am truly passionate about.”
In the news announcement, A-10 Commissioner Bernadette V. McGlade applauded Waterman’s professionalism, dedication and contributions.
“Tom has worked tirelessly throughout his tenure,” McGlade said. “His commitment to excellence has earned him respect from his colleagues in the A-10 membership, and his positive attitude and teamwork are an asset to our staff. I commend him on this well-deserved promotion.”
Waterman got his start with the Atlantic 10 Conference as a communications internship and has steadily risen through the NCAA Division I collegiate athletics conference.
As an Elon undergraduate studying media arts and entertainment, Waterman worked extensively in the School of Communications and Elon Athletics, serving as sports director at WSOE 89.3, where he called games for the women’s basketball program. Additionally, he completed a media internship with the Greensboro Grasshoppers minor league baseball organization.
“My experiences at Elon really helped prepare me for the professional world in numerous ways,” Waterman said. “The opportunities afforded to me at Elon through the School of Communications and the different student media organizations I was involved with provided me the ability to pursue my interests and develop relationships and skills that still benefit me today.”
When reflecting on his time under the oaks, Waterman charged current students to take advantage of the school’s programs and initiatives to gain real-world experience – and to not delay the process.
“I would encourage any student interested in pursuing a career in sports in any capacity to get involved early in your academic career and to take advantage of the countless opportunities available at Elon,” Waterman said.
Mark Zuckerbergs Networth Down $71B This Year As Metaverse Tax Hits Home NFTgators
Mark Zuckerberg’s Networth Down $71B This Year As ‘Metaverse Tax’ Hits Home – NFTgators https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/mark-zuckerbergs-networth-down-71b-this-year-as-metaverse-tax-hits-home-nftgators/
Quick take:
Mark Zuckerberg’s massive bet on the metaverse is beginning to have a significant impact on his wealth.
According to Bloomberg, the Meta Platforms CEO’s net worth is down $71 billion since the beginning of the year.
Zuckerberg is now down to 20th on the billionaires list down from sixth in January based on the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
Mark Zuckerberg’s net worth plummeted by a whopping $71 billion in 2022. The Meta Platforms founder’s massive bet on the metaverse seems to be coming back to haunt him with his wealth suffering more than his tech peers’ from the current market downturn.
The billionaire social media magnate has now slipped to the 20th spot on the list of the world’s richest people, according to Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Zuckerberg ranked sixth in January.
The billionaire entrepreneur’s net worth stands at $55.9 billion, down from $126.9 just over eight months ago. The Facebook founder’s wealth peaked at $142 billion in September last year, before plummeting to the current levels.
Zuckerberg’s net worth has been on a downhill since his company Facebook rebranded to Meta in October last year, the corporate name that also houses Instagram, Facebook Messenger Oculus VR, and Whats App, among others smaller companies.
Zuckerberg has been at the forefront of the campaign championing the adoption of the metaverse since October last year. His commitment to pursuing opportunities in this burgeoning industry has contributed to the rapid growth of the market. But not without challenges.
Zuckerberg revealed in February this year while announcing the fiscal fourth quarter and full year 2022 results that Facebook struggled to add to its monthly active users.
The company also announced a significant decline in the net income due to its $10 billion bet on the metaverse. Since then, the stock price has plummeted to the current level of about $148 per share down from $323.00.

In May, Zuckerberg told shareholders that they should expect more cash burn as the company continues to invest in the metaverse. The Meta Platforms stock is down 56.23% this year, with Zuckerberg’s wealth suffering the full effect of that decline.
Although he seems to be making progress on the NFT front after rolling NFTs globally for Instagram and Facebook users, his primary product, the metaverse is far from enjoying similar success.
Last month, Meta’s leading metaverse product Horizon Worlds was ridiculed online for having basic graphics. In July, the Federal Trade Commission sued Meta to block its acquisition of virtual reality company Within amid fears it will make the Facebook parent too powerful in a burgeoning industry.
Earlier in August, Vitalik Buterin predicted Meta’s gung-ho approach to the metaverse will likely “misfire” because the company does not know what the people want.
The “metaverse” is going to happen but I don’t think any of the existing corporate attempts to intentionally create the metaverse are going anywhere. https://t.co/tVUfq4CWmP

Nearly all of Mark Zuckerberg’s wealth is tied to Meta. According to a recent proxy statement, Zuckerberg holds 350 million shares of Meta, valued at about $51.86 billion ($148.19 per share) as of this writing.

TrainND Northwest Helps First Student Fly Beyond Visual Line Of Sight KFYR
TrainND Northwest Helps First Student Fly Beyond Visual Line Of Sight – KFYR https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/trainnd-northwest-helps-first-student-fly-beyond-visual-line-of-sight-kfyr/
WILLISTON, N.D. (KUMV) – Anyone can fly a drone with a remote control and some education, but learning to fly beyond their line of sight takes some additional work. That’s what TrainND Northwest is teaching operators with their drone academy.
Tate Betts loves new technology, especially drones.
“I’ve always been interested in all the tech gadgets out there, but these are really cool because you get to fly,” said Betts.
He owns his own drones and has a part 107 license, but nothing compares to the Censys Senatero, a commercial drone he flies as a student at TrainND Northwest’s Ascent Unmanned Aeronautical Academy.
“Flying these big commercial, professional ones are a step beyond that. It’s awesome,” said Betts.
Betts is learning to fly the Senatero beyond visual line of sight, which will allow him to cover more distance commercially. As part of this four-week course, he charts a path through a computer, communicates with a grounds crew, and deals with real-life scenarios that will come up during his flights. Instructor Jim Ager says flying beyond visual line of sight allows limitless possibilities for drones, such as package delivery and pipeline inspection.
“Everybody is coming to the consensus that the technology exists today to be able to integrate unmanned aircraft safely into our airspace. It’s wide open right now and there’s several directions that this could go,” said Ager.
Betts’ last flight with the program was Friday, where he passed with flying colors. He says he plans on heading an oil and gas inspection operation for the company he works for.

Crypto News: Russia Looks To Crypto To Evade Sanctions InvestorPlace
Crypto News: Russia Looks To Crypto To Evade Sanctions – InvestorPlace https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/crypto-news-russia-looks-to-crypto-to-evade-sanctions-investorplace/

Crypto news is already hot this month. Ethereum (ETH-USD) and Cardano (ADA-USD) are bringing in massive new upgrades, Ripple is winding down its SEC lawsuit and Voyager Digital (OTCMKTS:VYGVQ) is finishing up its bankruptcy auction. Crypto is also a hot topic in the realm of international affairs. Indeed, in a move that adds to its policy flip-flop, Russia is planning to introduce a bill that would allow it to evade sanctions.
Russia has issued varying, contradicting opinions on crypto. It isn’t interested in a central bank digital currency (CBDC), nor does it want to allow Russian citizens to trade or transact with crypto assets. However, President Vladimir Putin has shown interest in mining crypto on an industrial scale.
This hodgepodge of stances have culminated in a hardline ban on crypto trading within Russia. Meanwhile, the country continues to embrace the crypto miners operating within its borders.
This all could be changing. When Russia first invaded Ukraine, many countries levied sanctions against it. Many feared early on that Russia would turn to crypto to evade these sanctions.
While others assert that this isn’t — and hasn’t — been the case, the Russian government could prove otherwise.
Crypto News: Russia to Entertain New Crypto Bill
The U.S. might be moving forward on its own crypto regulation this month, but the big crypto news of today lies elsewhere. Russia’s incoming crypto bill is a big deal, because it follows in the footsteps of another U.S. adversary and could help the nation evade sanctions over blockchain.
Russian Finance Ministry head Ivan Chebeskov says that the country is drafting a new bill to amend its previous ban on crypto trading. This new bill will give businesses the opportunity to conduct transactions using cryptocurrency.
The draft bill comes just weeks after the Russian central bank flipped its stance on crypto. Previously anti-crypto, the Bank of Russia came out in favor of legalizing crypto payments for cross-border transactions only. This recent change of heart follows Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin’s bullish comments on crypto. Just last week, Mishustin tasked the Bank of Russia, the Federal Security Service (FSB) and the country’s tax and financial monitoring branches to come to agreement over whether or not to legalize these cross-border payments.
All of this news comes, perhaps unsurprisingly, just after the Iranian government gave its own local businesses the legal right to import goods with crypto payments. It recently imported $10 million worth of vehicles into the country, the first such import order ever. These imports also mark a successful move to evade trade sanctions.
It seems that Russia has taken Iran’s success into account. Investors would be wise to keep an eye on the policy and legislation news coming out of the nation this week.

M Corp Hires Veteran Technology Executive Bill Cody As Director Of Sales For Professional Services Business Wire
M Corp Hires Veteran Technology Executive Bill Cody As Director Of Sales For Professional Services – Business Wire https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/m-corp-hires-veteran-technology-executive-bill-cody-as-director-of-sales-for-professional-services-business-wire/
SACRAMENTO, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–M Corp has hired veteran salesman Bill Cody to serve as Director of Sales for Professional Services. Cody has more than 30 years of experience in IT, representing major brands in hardware, software, services, security, and cloud.
“Bill has a proven track record of success. We are pleased for him to join our team as M Corp pushes the boundaries beyond risky, outdated models toward modern digital services,” said M Corp CEO Alex Castro. “By focusing on data-driven outcomes instead of code-heavy, legacy system upgrades, we are raising a paradigm that puts our clients on the precipice of greatness.”
With more than 30 years in executive roles in the technology industry, Cody has built sales teams and represented some of the world’s most recognizable brands, such as Symantec, Hewlett Packard Enterprise, ServiceNow, Splunk, VMWare, and Delphix. Much of his career has been focused on California State Government, where he worked on emerging and disrupting technologies and how to deliver better outcomes for the public sector.
“I look forward to working with the M Corp team to offer innovative products such as ReM Score and MissionNXT that will help our clients succeed and forever change how agencies approach complex digital service projects,” said Cody. “After spending the past five years delivering technology solutions to state governments in the Western US, I am elated to be back focusing on the State of California.”
As Director of Sales for the Professional Services Division, Cody will lead sales for new and existing clients of the firm’s consulting practice. Launched nearly 20 years ago, M Corp has earned respect in a highly competitive field among international firms. Senior Vice President Tom Larson leads the division with numerous longtime California state agency clients.
This spring, M Corp announced its growing team of 200+ associates has formally established a new division dedicated to transformative “as-a-service” products. The suite of solutions, including the company’s flagship readiness assessment product, ReM Score, is the result of the company’s 19 years of experience in the modernization industry, as well as research into what does– and does not– move organizations closer to achieving their mission and vision.
Recently launched, MissionNXT allows programs to deliver custom digital services to constituents without the headache of overseeing major projects, capturing and managing data, or worrying about going over budget. It’s a subscription-based service that frees program staff from the burdens of manual data collection and elevates them to focus on mission-based work.
M Corp contends that the industry is due for disruption, and a thoroughly modern approach is necessary to power clients’ modernization ambitions. And while the not-so-simple act of implementing a new system may look like progress from the outside, it often fails to move the needle on an organization’s strategic agenda and instead perpetuates the cycle of technical debt. With clarity of intention to discard this model, M Corp’s new approach changes everything.
