Indian E-Commerce Giant Flipkart Launches Metaverse Shopping Experience TechCrunch
Indian E-Commerce Giant Flipkart Launches Metaverse Shopping Experience – TechCrunch https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/indian-e-commerce-giant-flipkart-launches-metaverse-shopping-experience-techcrunch/
Flipkart has launched a metaverse offering for consumers to discover and shop new products, the latest bet from the Indian e-commerce giant as it experiments with web3 offerings to supercharge its customer experience.
The Walmart-backed Bengaluru-headquartered firm has partnered with eDAO, a Polygon-incubated firm, to launch the metaverse offering, which it is calling Flipverse. The offering is in the pilot stage and aimed to garner interest during the festive season this month.
On Flipverse, which goes live on Flipkart’s Android app Monday, the company is offering “gamified, interactive and immersive” experiences for consumers where they will be able to collect the company’s loyalty points — Supercoins — as well as digital collectibles from partner brands.
At a briefing Monday, Flipkart said “a wide range of brands” including Puma, Noise, Nivea, Lavie, Tokyo Talkies, Campus, VIP, Ajmal Perfumes and Himalaya are partnering to set up experience theaters on Flipverse.
“The idea is to have millions of users experience Flipverse and open the doors to the future of shopping,” the company said. The company’s executives acknowledged that its web3 offerings are at an experimental stage, but they said they are confident that it has legs to eventually become a critical part of Flipkart’s future.
Flipkart and its chief rival in India, Amazon, are increasingly broadening their offerings to reach new customers in the South Asian market and retain loyal base. Amazon launched a QVC-style livestream shopping in India late last month, bringing an army of more than 150 creators to host livestreams and plug products in the videos.
“While we have only just begun to scratch the surface of what’s possible in the metaverse, we see e-commerce as one of the killer use cases. Combining top brands with Flipkart’s e-commerce expertise in a virtual environment stands to revolutionize online retail as we know it. Flipverse will be a vibrant, visible expression of the metaverse, and I’m proud that this activation is taking place on Polygon,” said Sandeep Nailwal, co-founder of Polygon, in a statement. The broader partnership with Flipkart is Polygon’s latest win to attract large brands. The Ethereum scaling platform has partnered with a number of firms including Stripe, Meta and Starbucks in recent months.

The Top 10 Equal-Weighted Index will monitor the performance of the industry’s top 10 cryptocurrencies by market capitalization, such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH). Binance indices will utilize pricing information from crypto price tracker CMC, of which the crypto exchange is the owner.
According to the announcement, the Equal-Weighted Index will be rebalanced monthly and is designed to help investors evaluate price and performance. The index products, beginning with the Top 10 Equal-Weighted Index, will be available to investors starting in November 2022 through Binance’s Auto-Invest service.

Despite a long and harsh crypto winter, Binance and other major crypto-industry giants have been developing their service offerings to the wider community.
A recent Q3 2022 report from the Web3 development platform Alchemy reported that this year could actually be the biggest year on record for development in the Web3 space.
Binance recently expanded its service offerings in multiple markets around the world. On Oct. 6, Kazakhstan granted the exchange a permanent license to offer digital asset services, while in the Middle East, it reported a 49% surge in regional user sign-ups in 2022.
This recent announcement of the price index tools comes as the network completed its 21st quarterly Binance Coin (BNB) burn, which eliminated roughly $547 million worth of BNB from its supply.

Oct. 17, 2022, 1:00 a.m. ET
Between network, cable and streaming, the modern television landscape is a vast one. Here are some of the shows, specials and movies coming to TV this week, Oct. 17-23. Details and times are subject to change.
Monday
THE VOW 9 p.m. on HBO. This docuseries, about Keith Raniere and his “sex cult” Nxivm, is beginning its second season. In 2020 Raniere was sentenced to 120 years in prison for sex trafficking and other crimes. The first installment of the series explored the stories of the members who joined the group. This set of episodes will more focus Raniere and his inner circle as his trial took place.
Tuesday
BEETLEJUICE (1988) 9 p.m. on Freeform. Tim Burton’s comedy staring Michael Keaton and Wynona Rider is essential viewing for spooky season. Keaton plays the title character who is hired by a recently deceased couple (Alec Baldwin and Geena Davis) to scare away the new (alive) residents of their house. The film was adapted into a Broadway musical of the same name, which will close in January after almost 700 performances.

YEAR ONE: POLITICAL ODYSSEY 9 p.m. on HBO. Spanning from inauguration day in 2021 to the State of the Union in 2022, this documentary outlines President Biden’s first year in office, including the fallout from the Jan. 6 attack, efforts to encourage vaccination against Covid-19, the withdrawal from Afghanistan and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, to name just a few events. It also features interviews with the secretary of state, Antony J. Blinken; the national security adviser, Jake Sullivan; the secretary of defense, Lloyd Austin; and The New York Times’s very own David E. Sanger.
AMERICAN HORROR STORY 10 p.m. on FX. Though murders are down 3 percent in the U.S., mysterious deaths around New York City continue to arise in the 11th installment of Ryan Murphy’s anthology series. Zachary Quinto, Patti LuPone and Billie Lourd — all “A.H.S.” veterans — star. Murphy has recently received some backlash from families of the victims of Jeffrey Dahmer for his show “Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story,” in which Evan Peters (another “A.H.S.” regular) portrays the serial killer.
DOCUMENTARY NOW! 10 p.m. on IFC. Each episode of this faux documentary series takes inspiration from an actual documentary, with the writers and actors making it outrageous and goofy. Created by “Saturday Night Live” alums Seth Meyers, Fred Armisen and Bill Hader, the show begins its fourth season with two episodes inspired by the 1982 documentary “Burden of Dreams” about the director Werner Herzog. In this version, written by John Mulaney, Cate Blanchett stars as an eccentric filmmaker and Nicholas Braun plays a moviegoer who mistakes an art-house cinema for a porno theater.
Thursday

JERSEY SHORE FAMILY VACATION 8 p.m. on MTV. It is hard to believe that in 2022 we are still fist pumping with our favorite group of party animals. The “Family Vacation” spinoff, which follows Snooki, her crew and their brood as they travel around the country, has been filming for longer than the original “Jersey Shore” series. The whole squad is gathering together for a reunion to wrap up the fifth season and bank more hours of delectable reality TV.
MIKA: LIVE AT THE PARIS PHILHARMONIC 10 p.m. on PBS (check local listings). The Lebanese British pop singer Mika, known for songs like “Lollipop,” “Grace Kelly” and “Happy Endings/Over My Shoulder,” takes his talents to the Paris Philharmonic, where he performs with the orchestra and a choir.
Friday
THE AWFUL TRUTH (1937) 8 p.m. on TCM. Cary Grant and Irene Dunne play the divorcing couple Jerry and Lucy who mess with each other’s new potential love lives when they realize they’re still in love with each other. The movie is based on a 1922 play of the same name.

Jennifer Lawrence and Bradley Cooper in “Silver Linings Playbook.”Credit…JoJo Whilden/Weinstein Company
SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK (2012) 10:49 p.m. on Starz. This film by David O. Russell, filled with laughter, tears and lots of mentions of Philadelphia Eagles, stars Bradley Cooper as Pat, who, after ending up in a mental institution, moved back in with his parents. Jennifer Lawrence plays Tiffany, a young widow who promises to help Pat get back his estranged wife if he enters into a dance competition with her. Russell’s “movies embrace different problems and character types,” Manohla Dargis wrote in her review of the film for The Times. “A strung-out drug addict rather than an alcohol-soaked swell — but like the classics of the form, they have zippy, at times breakneck pacing, rapidly fired zingers and physical comedy that, taken together, reflect the wild unpredictability of the greater world.”
Saturday
CRISS ANGEL’S MAGIC WITH THE STARS 8 p.m. on The CW. Like “Dancing with the Stars” but with magic? Each week celebrity contestants learn tricks and illusions created by Criss Angel and then perform them in front of a panel of judges. This week Corbin Bleu and Miles Brown will be showing off their sleight of hand — next week Maksim Chmerkovskiy and Omarion are up. At the end, the celebrities with the highest scores will be invited back to compete for the golden wand.
Sunday
BMF: THE RISE AND FALL OF A HIP-HOP DRUG EMPIRE 10:05 p.m. on Starz. This eight-part series examines the true story of Black Mafia Family’s drug trafficking and money laundering operation based in Detroit. It is set to feature interviews with Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory as well and other ring leaders. This documentary series is a companion to the network’s scripted series “Black Mafia Family,” returning this fall for a second season.

Business News At 09:30 Am On 17th October 2022 – The Financial Express https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/business-news-at-0930-am-on-17th-october-2022-the-financial-express/
Let’s begin. India’s WPI inflation came down to 10.7 per cent per cent in September, from 12.41 per cent in August, aligned with the analysts’ sentiment. The ease off in the wholesale price index-based inflation was primarily aided by fall in the global commodity prices, the data released by the Ministry of Commerce & Industry showed. However, despite the cool off, the WPI has remained in double digits for the 18th month in a row, starting from April 2021. The WPI inflation levels have been on a downward trend since the spike witnessed in July when it spiked to 13.93 per cent. On the contrary, earlier this week, the retail inflation saw an upsurge and came in at a 5-month high of 7.41 per cent.
Meanwhile, Elon Musk is being investigated by federal authorities over his conduct in his $44 billion takeover deal for Twitter Inc, the social media company said in a court filing released on Thursday, a Reuters report said this week. While the filing said he was under investigation, it did not say what the exact focus of the probes was and which federal authorities are conducting them. Twitter, which sued Musk in July to force him to close the deal, said attorneys for the Tesla Inc CEO had claimed “investigative privilege” when refusing to hand over documents it had sought. In late September, Musk’s attorneys had provided a “privilege log” identifying documents to be withheld, Twitter said. The log referenced drafts of a May 13 email to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) and a slide presentation to the Federal Trade Commission.
Moving on. A total of 65 per cent Indians prefer to invest a part of their income in one form of the other and among all the ways of investment, gold emerged as the popular choice of investment. According to the Axis My India Survey, 53 per cent people preferred gold as an investment tool, 35 per cent of the population showed awareness towards digital gold and 10 per cent had already invested in digital gold. In terms of age group, 15 per cent of people in the age group of 18-24 years showed interest to invest into digital gold. The awareness for digital gold, it maintained, is coming from social media, followed by mass media like TV/print/outdoor, families & friends. “85 per cent of population was aware that digital gold is a new age investment instrument that allows you to invest in 24 Karat Gold, 73 per cent knew that it could be redeemed for physical gold and 64 per cent was aware that it can be purchased at Re 1 through their phones,” the survey said.
Now some good news for tech lovers. Xiaomi launched the entry-level Redmi A1 Plus smartphone in India today. The Redmi A1 Plus is essentially the Redmi A1 with a fingerprint reader on the back. You can also get it in multiple RAM options unlike the Redmi A1 which comes in just one configuration at the time of writing. Just like the Redmi A1, the Redmi A1 Plus is designed for first-time smartphone users. It comes with a nice and clean –and attractive— design and clean Android 12 (Go) software for a nice and fluid experience. You get a sizeable 5,000mAh battery in this phone and dual cameras on the back. Xiaomi is also touting features like built-in FM radio, 3.5mm audio jack, and micro-SD storage expansion.
In some more exciting news, Netflix is finally launching its affordable subscription plan with ads. The popular streaming service this week announced ‘Basic with Ads’ – it’s first-ever ad-supported affordable video streaming plan priced at $6.99 a month which is roughly Rs 500. The new plan will go live on November 3 at 9am. The company on its blog post said, “Basic with Ads will launch just six months after we first announced the option of a lower priced ads plan. None of this would have been possible without our team’s hard work or Microsoft’s extraordinary partnership. The switch from linear is happening at an ever-increasing speed, with streaming now surpassing broadcast and cable in the US. We’re confident that with Netflix starting at $6.99 a month, we now have a price and plan for every fan.”
And lastly, let’s hear how the stock market performed today. Indian equity markets bounced back on Friday, tracking gains is US and Asian markets. The BSE benchmark index soared to a high of 58,435, up over 1100 pts in intra-day, led by strong gains in IT major Infosys, HDFC and HDFC Bank. Both indices surged nearly 2 per cent intraday, but pared gains in the latter half of the trading sessions. The Sensex ended 685 points higher at 57,920, and NSE Nifty 50 index rallied past the 17,300-level in early deals, but finally settled at 17,186, up 169 points.

If you’re looking for a healthy morning drink, have an antioxidant, protein, omega-3, and fibre-packed smoothie for breakfast. (Image: Shutterstock)
Heart health is extremely important and thus it is necessary that one takes good care of it, read on to know about a few drinks that you can include in your daily diet for the same-
Heart health is crucial, yet often ignored aspect of our general well-being. Neglecting the care of this organ is likely to put one at risk of multiple cardiovascular complications. A poor heart could result in serious conditions such as coronary artery disease, arrhythmia, and atherosclerosis. But with a diet rich in nutrients, you can significantly reduce the risk of heart disease and promote optimal cardiovascular function. Here are the five effective drinks that help you to boost your heart health:
Whole fruit juice
When shopping for juice, choose 100% whole fruit juice that has no added sugar. The daily recommended amount is one small glass (equivalent to one serving). You can also purchase a sterol-fortified version, which will aid in the reduction of high cholesterol levels as well as inflammation. The latter is a significant contributor to the development of heart disease.
Smoothies
If you’re looking for a healthy morning drink, have an antioxidant, protein, omega-3, and fibre-packed smoothie for breakfast. Omega-3 fats found in nuts and seeds have been linked to lower blood pressure and stroke risks. Antioxidants found in blueberries, blackberries, and raspberries help the body rid itself of free radicals- compounds that can harm the body in high concentrations. Fibres found in oats or whole grains have a low glycemic index, which can support a slow rise in blood sugar rather than quick spikes and crashes.
Hibiscus tea
Hibiscus tea, which is rich in antioxidants, may help reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. It aids in the prevention of free radical damage and the reduction of high blood pressure. Studies show that Hibiscus tea can help lower systolic and diastolic blood pressure. Allow dried hibiscus petals to infuse in boiling water. Strain, then add lemon juice and honey to taste. And you are done!
Green Juice
Green juice is a juice made of green leafy vegetables. It can benefit your heart health regardless of whether you make it at home, buy it bottled, or mix a powdered green supplement into water. Green juice is high in nutrients such as potassium, antioxidants, and anti-inflammatory compounds. This nutrient combination can improve your overall health, including your heart, and is a simple addition to your day.
Water
Drinking ample amounts of water is linked to better heart health. Studies show that staying hydrated can reduce the long-term risk of heart illnesses. Plus, water is ideal since it provides 100% hydration and has no calories!

Mifflin County runners Addie Parson and Adeline Leason show their medals after the Huskies finished seventh among 17 teams in the Mid-Penn Championships Saturday.
NEWVILLE –Mifflin County’s girls cross country team was hungry for medals in the Mid-Penn Championships and Tim Cook Memorial races Saturday.
In the end, the 14 runners that participated came home with six medals.
The varsity team secured a seventh-place finish among 17 Class 3A teams, led by Adeline Leason (20:50) and Addie Parson (21:04), who finished 30th and 32nd overall, respectively.
“They continue to run strong for our team and have their eyes on districts, which will take place on Oct. 29 on our home course. I would love to see both of them qualify to head to states on Nov. 5 in Hershey,” girls coach Neil Breneman said. “Amilia Coffey is closing in on our top two as well, running a PR today at 21:30. What I love about Amila is that she is talented, determined, and a hard worker.”
Rounding out the scoring were Ava Harris (22:59) and Justice Sheaffer (23:09).
The Mifflin County boys placed 11th out of 18 teams in the Class 3A field.
The Huskies were paced by Conrad Coffey, the only member of the team to crack the top 50 at 17:43. Also scoring for the Huskies were Caden Bell (18:10), Reese Cubbison (18:17), Hart Oden (18:39) and Styers Oden (18:42).
“We faced a lot of these teams at different invitationals this fall and the results were pretty similar,” boys coach Greg Loht said. “We had several bright spots in the meet today. Conrad and Caden have been consistent up front all season. Reese is coming into his own and has been racing well. Hart, who gets up for big, meets did it again today.
“(Styers) ran into trouble at mile two but still finished as a top five scorer and kept our 1-5 split less than a minute.”
In the Tim Cook Memorial Race athletes competed for medals by grade. Alexis Anderson led the girls team with a PR of 24:33, enough to secure a medal in the sophomore class.
Second for the JV girls was Kennadi Bauman running a 25:50 and Ava Kratzer was right behind her at 25:58. Also securing medals for their classes were senior Sarah Diehl and junior Rachael Saldubehere.
For the boys, Cameron Barben and Nathan Goss followed senior and 15th-place medalist Maxwell Laudermilch (20:49) across the finish line in the JV run.
The Huskies host their final home meet Thursday against Juniata, Williamsport and several other teams for senior night, their last tune-up for the District 6 meet.

Studio X Has Served Scores Of Metaverse Newbies Annual Report Shows Campus Times
Studio X Has Served Scores Of Metaverse Newbies, Annual Report Shows – Campus Times https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/studio-x-has-served-scores-of-metaverse-newbies-annual-report-shows-campus-times/
The basement of Carlson Library houses rollercoasters, a medieval alchemical laboratory, and a futuristic musical lightsaber performance space.
Somehow, that sentence is 100% true — and it is all thanks to Studio X, the University’s half-library, half-experimentation zone dedicated to augmented and virtual reality, known together as extended reality (XR). The studio released its first annual report earlier this month recapping the studio’s soft launch year, which was full of projects, workshops, and competitions centered on getting students exposed to these budding technologies and exploring their horizons.
According to the report, the space served 529 first-time users of XR technologies and facilitated 520 equipment bookings across 48 departments and six schools in the 2021-2022 academic year. Senior Waleed Nadeem, a Karp Library Fellow and brand ambassador for Studio X, said the exposure for first-timers was a huge achievement.
“It is always such an incredible experience when you put on a headset on a new user and see their face light up with wonder,” he wrote to the Campus Times. “Every user has a different emotion before they wear the headset ranging from hesitation to excitement and it’s always fun to hear them shout or laugh when they see the virtual world. Every time a new user wears the headset it allows me to relive the excitement and fall in love with it once again.”
Studio X also hosted nine student-led workshops covering a wide range of topics, many with titles descended from clickbait heaven. From a “Create Your Own VR Escape Room” session to “VR Music Composition in Unity” and “Create Your Own VR Flappy Bird” — there was a clear popular audience in mind.
Alongside student-led workshops, the report also highlights how Studio X has helped integrate XR technologies into classroom instruction and scholarship. Assistant Professor of Computer Science Zhen Bai, for instance, brought her XR class into Studio X to help them overcome difficulties they had developing programs for VR headsets due to their lack of availability.
However, the report also notes that the studio’s successes came amid setbacks.
“Supply chain issues delayed our technology,” Studio X Director Emily Sherwood said in the report. “And like many units across the University, we were short-staffed and had trouble filling positions and finding people with the skills we needed. Although we have assembled a team of dedicated and skilled students, we see our team as a work-in-progress. Case in point: we still don’t have the staff to fully meet faculty needs. Finally, as is true with all new spaces, we discovered physical and technical limitations, which sometimes forced us to rethink our strategies for programming and events.”
Nadeem added that he thinks Studio X could be improved if it were given a full dedicated computer lab. Currently the studio has a few desktop computers, but their setup is smaller than the Rettner and IT Center computer labs. Nadeem said he was optimistic about change because the studio is a “student led space.”
Overall, Nadeem said he felt the most meaningful work he has done with Studio X is to “represent possibility” for students who may feel that they do not have a role in the growing XR sector.
“I am not a computer science major,” he wrote. “I am a business information systems and Digital Media Studies student and if I can make these experiences and work on these novel immersive technologies, then so can anyone else. Studio X is for everyone regardless of your major or experience, all you need is a passion for learning.”

While cryptos are slowly gaining recognition from investors and regulators alike, with countries and leading brands adopting it as an official tender, there are still a sizeable number of people who wish to invest in crypto, but aren’t able to closely track breaking and developing news in the sector, which will help them take note of price movements, major sell-offs, and announcements of new blockchain-based developments.
This live news blog is here to help. From major market losses to noteworthy declarations, follow this live blog to stay updated with all the latest happenings in the world of crypto.
While there are many cryptocurrencies to explore, Bitcoin (BTC) is the most popular as it is the world’s oldest and most valued crypto coin. As of October 14, Bitcoin price stood at $19,227.94, as per CoinMarketCap data. At the time of writing, the global crypto market cap stood at $920.02 billion, registering a gain of 0.36 percent in the last 24 hours.
While cryptocurrency is unregulated in India, cryptocurrencies are clubbed under virtual digital assets (VDAs). Under the new tax regime that went into effect on April 1 this year, VDAs attract taxation of 30 percent on gains. A TDS of 1 percent is applied on top of that.

World Food Day – US Embassy In Georgia https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/world-food-day-us-embassy-in-georgia/
PRESS STATEMENT
ANTONY J. BLINKEN, SECRETARY OF STATE
On this World Food Day, food systems and global food security are at a critical moment. The compounded impacts from a global pandemic, growing pressures from the climate crisis, high energy and fertilizer prices, and armed conflicts, including Russia’s brutal war of aggression against Ukraine, have disrupted production and supply chains and dramatically increased global food insecurity, especially for the most vulnerable.
The human impact is staggering. At the outset of 2022, more than 190 million people had been driven into acute food insecurity. The war in Ukraine could add an additional 70 million people on top of that. Millions are facing hunger and malnutrition.
Conflicts are driving unconscionable levels of hunger as violence stops food from getting to the neediest. Pandemic disruptions to supply chains have destabilized food systems. High prices and availability issues are reducing fertilizer use. From the droughts in the Horn of Africa to the floods in Pakistan, we are also seeing how climate change poses a critical threat to our food supply. Parts of Somalia are at risk of famine for the second time in just over a decade.
The work before us is clear. Only by working together can we overcome the global food security challenges we face. Earlier this year, the United States chaired a Food Security Summit at the United Nations, which launched the Roadmap for Global Food Security. At that meeting, we reaffirmed the commitment for world leaders to act with urgency and at scale to respond to the pressing global food crises and avert extreme hunger for hundreds of millions of people around the world. More than 100 countries have signed on to the initiative that calls on them to take seven actions, which include increasing fertilizer production and investing in climate-resilient agriculture.
The United States is leading the way. Last month, at the United Nations General Assembly, President Biden announced over $2.9 billion in new assistance to address global food insecurity. That announcement builds on the $6.9 billion in U.S. assistance to support global food security already committed this year. This assistance will save lives through emergency interventions and invest in medium to long-term food security assistance to protect the world’s most vulnerable population, often women and children, from the escalating global food security crisis.
There is no longer any doubt that food security is an issue of acute global urgency. So, on this World Food Day, let us be true to its theme – Leave No One Behind – because the health, the stability, and the wellbeing of all our people depends on the food security that we build together.

Make Organizing Business Travel An Easy With These Useful Tips – Myrtlebeachsc.com https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/make-organizing-business-travel-an-easy-with-these-useful-tips-myrtlebeachsc-com/
If you have to go away for a business trip, then you need to prepare. Not preparing could be disastrous, especially if you are meeting new clients or investors.
A lot of people think that planning a business trip is a lot like planning a vacation, but this is not true. There are far more things for you to think about when you are going away on business, than when you are going on holiday.
This post will tell you everything that you need to know if you have to go away on business.
Travel Services
When you go away on business, booking flights and accommodation aren’t the only things that you need to worry about. You also need to spend time preparing for meetings, planning what you are going to say, and creating presentations. It can be impossible doing all of these things while simultaneously trying to arrange flights. So, according to Telios Travel, who you can learn more about on their website, working with a travel management company often means that you will have a team of experts arranging your trip for you. You can tell them everything you want, like, and dislike. Then, they can make sure that your trip is planned right. Bear in mind that not all travel services are equal. Some are considerably better than others. The best way to determine whether or not the service you want to work with is worth using is to read their reviews.
Meeting Preparation
As mentioned in the previous section, when you have to go away on a business trip, the most challenging part is preparing for your meetings. Because of how challenging meetings can be with foreign clients and investors, it’s essential that you spend a lot of time preparing yourself for them. Take time to create presentations, write out your speeches and talks, and learn about the people that you will be meeting with. Going into a meeting blind can be a very bad idea. Meet with your bosses to see if they have any specific things that they want you to do or say, too.
Notifying Staff
If you work for somebody else’s business, then it’s very likely that they will ask another member of staff to join you. More often than not, this is done to make your trip easier for you. One employee is usually tasked with leading the meeting, and the other is usually told to take notes, and bring up any missed points. Your employers will notify staff members for you. If you own your own business and want to bring people, then you will have to tell them that their presence is required.
Local Phrases
If you don’t speak the language of the country that you are traveling to, then it’s a good idea to take some time to learn local phrases. Doing so can ingratiate you with the people that you meet, and also make traveling a lot easier. It is a very bad idea to travel anywhere if you don’t speak the language because you can’t ask for help when you are in trouble. You can likely take a quick course in the language online. Doing so will make getting around much less stressful.
Prepare Electronics
It’s very likely that if you are going abroad for a meeting, you will need to use certain electronics, like your laptop. Make sure that you prepare all of your electronics before you leave, so that you have everything ready for when you arrive. Do not wait until the last minute to prepare your electronics. Make sure that you have your USB stick and anything else that you need in your bag at least a week before you plan on leaving. If you have to take anything out, then make sure that it goes back as soon as you are done using it.
Travel Documents
It is essential that your travel documents are all prepared, too. The worst thing you can do is not prepare your travel documents, because you could then get to the airport and discover that you aren’t able to fly. This could cause serious interruptions to your business’s international relations. Your employers won’t be very happy with you if they have to postpone the meeting, either, and there’s no guarantee that you will be able to get another flight on the same day. Keep your travel documents in your bag along with your electronics.
Preparing for a business trip can be hard work, which is why it’s good to hire a travel management service to do it for you. Then, you can focus on everything else mentioned here. Make sure that you prepare for your meetings abroad and a few local phrases.

Christian McCaffrey Not Answer For Rams Who Improve To 3-3 Los Angeles Times
Christian McCaffrey Not Answer For Rams, Who Improve To 3-3 – Los Angeles Times https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/christian-mccaffrey-not-answer-for-rams-who-improve-to-3-3-los-angeles-times/
If that was a casting call, Christian McCaffrey nailed the part.
The star running back’s unspoken message to the Rams was anything but subtle. It was basically, “Come and get me.”
The Rams should resist that urge.
Yes, their signature move is making splashy, forehead-slapping transactions, doing so to great effect last season in trading for linebacker Von Miller and signing free-agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr., both of whom more than earned their Super Bowl rings.
The Rams are living on hope these days, and, with the NFL trade deadline two weeks away, McCaffrey is the Hope Diamond.
That’s not to say he’ll wind up in Los Angeles, or that Carolina will trade him at all, although it’s a safe bet the Panthers will pick up the phone and listen. They dropped to 1-5 with Sunday’s 24-10 loss, and their season is beyond salvaging.
Take away McCaffrey’s contribution — 69 yards rushing, 89 yards receiving — and the Panthers generated a paltry 45 yards of offense. They fired their coach are down to backup quarterback P.J. Walker and soon will be showing Robbie Anderson the door after the wide receiver argued with coaches on the sideline Sunday and was sent to the locker room before the game ended.
Lots of teams would want the versatile McCaffrey. It’s easy to envision him in San Francisco red, Buffalo blue, Philadelphia green. But, as any fantasy football owner will remind you, he spends a lot of time in a boot and on crutches.
This was McCaffrey’s 24th career game with at least 50 yards rushing and receiving. Only Hall of Famer Marshall Faulk had more (41).
Breathe into a paper bag and calm down, Rams. Yes, you need another explosive weapon. Cooper Kupp can’t carry the entire offense on his shoulders, but this team has a far more pressing crisis up front.
It’s six weeks into the season and the Rams have shuffled their offensive line for every game. They’re on their third-string center and their third-string left guard, and they have a right guard who wasn’t even on the team when the season started. If you took the eight top offensive linemen at the start of training camp, only two — Alaric Jackson and Rob Havenstein — have stayed healthy throughout.
Rams cornerback Jalen Ramsey puts a big hit on Carolina running back Christian McCaffrey in the third quarter.
(Luis Sinco / Los Angeles Times)
Now, the week off comes at the right time for the Rams because they’ll be getting some good players back, among them center Brian Allen, cornerbacks Troy Hill and Cobie Durant, and — drumroll — wide receiver Van Jefferson, a key target for Matthew Stafford.
For all their offensive struggles, the Rams have looked good on defense in recent weeks.
The McCaffrey case is complicated. It won’t surprise anyone that the Rams don’t have a first-round pick in next spring’s draft. They famously trade those away and haven’t had a selection in the opening round since they took Jared Goff in 2016.
The Panthers probably are looking for a first-round pick for McCaffrey, although it’s almost unheard of for a running back to command that. If that’s the asking price, the Rams won’t be in the mix. The best they have is a second, and they might not even part with that.
McCaffrey is due to make $12 million in 2023, so he’s not a half-season rental the way the free-agency-bound Miller was. You trade for McCaffrey and you’re walking down the aisle. That’s not a bad thing; he’s a great player. But it’s a commitment.
Moving McCaffrey — not a guarantee but certainly a possibility — also hinges on the expectations of Panthers owner David Tepper. He’s a hedge-fund guy whose whole life is about valuations. He might not see eye to eye with any suitors out there.
Another factor that could complicate trades this season is the NFL, and particularly the NFC, is a big mush pot of mediocrity. Look at what happened Sunday. Green Bay was embarrassed at home by the New York Jets. Tampa Bay fell to one-win Pittsburgh. San Francisco lost to Atlanta by two touchdowns.
Of the 32 teams, 22 are .500 or worse. In other words, very few clubs are ready to pack it in, call it a season and trade their best players. It looks as if Carolina is ready to do that … for the right price.
So should the Rams jump into a bidding war? It fits their profile, and McCaffrey unquestionably would be a dynamic addition to their sputtering offense. But this time they need to take a pass. If they make a trade, it should be to beef up their offensive line or bolster their pass rush.
They’ll soon be getting some essential players off the injured list. Let those be their de facto midseason moves this year. Making a splash is great, but only after you’ve proven you can keep your head above the water line.

People Could Travel Within Digital Platforms With Virtual Assets In The Metaverse Exchange4Media
‘People Could Travel Within Digital Platforms With Virtual Assets In The Metaverse’ – Exchange4Media https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/people-could-travel-within-digital-platforms-with-virtual-assets-in-the-metaverse-exchange4media/
After launching ‘Grand Vitara’ in Metaverse in July, India’s leading carmaker Maruti Suzuki is now set to offer all its car models on a virtual platform by the end of this season, company’s Senior Executive Director, Marketing & Sales, Shashank Srivastava said at the e4m MarTech India Conference 2022 held in Gurugram on Friday.
Delivering a special address, Srivastava said, “People usually don’t book a car without seeing it physically. Considering the technological advancement of Grand Vitara, a fuel-efficient hybrid SUV, we wanted to offer a never before experience to consumers. We decided to launch the car in a standalone NEXAverse in July which marked our entry into the phygital world. Over 55,000 people booked it just on the basis of their immersive experience in NEXAverse even before the car was physically available. Car production started in August.”
Another 10,000 people booked it later even without checking the car physically. E-booking of Vitara has crossed 17 percent of the total bookings, he added.
Srivastava announced at MarTech, “Considering the overwhelming response of consumers to NEXAverse, which is made available across devices, we have decided to roll out all car models on NEXAverse or Arenaverse with AR and VR by the end of this season.”
Consumers can also walk down to Maruti dealers’ outlets to get an immersive experience of life-size models through AR and VR. NEXAverse also allows consumers to choose their avatars.
He further noted, “Digitisation is a growing investment for the company. Going forward, NEXAverse will become our e-commerce platform to offer cars, accessories, and loyalty programs.”
Srivastava says that NEXAverse will be more personalized and have better interactive capabilities in future. “Consumers will get a virtual relationship manager as well who will guide them throughout the car buying journey just like a physical relationship manager.”
Maruti can now expand its footprint to the remotest areas of the country where the company doesn’t have showrooms, he noted.
Metaverse brings unprecedented things together
Lauding metaverse, Srivastava explained, “Although what constitutes Metaverse is yet to be fully defined, it certainly allows crucial interactions in real-time, accessible through AR and VR, just like physical interactions. Just as the internet allows us to collaborate with different people in real-time across the globe, metaverse brings unprecedented things without geographical boundaries and time zones.”
With the help of VR and haptic devices, people can virtually attend events, enjoy themselves together, shop, and even marry online. He added that people can one day also travel within different platforms through virtual tasks.
Why is the metaverse important?
Urging marketers to join Metaverse for growth, Srivastava underscored, “Consumers today are digital natives. In the future, Metaverse is envisioned to become an online global ecosystem which allows interoperability where people can travel within digital platforms along with virtual assets. This sounds very exciting and gives an enormous task to digital platforms to incorporate, integrate and execute.”
Five technologies that can make these things possible are VR devices, Edge-computing, AI, blockchain and 5G internet, Srivastava highlighted.
Challenges
Describing the challenges of having a virtual platform for a wide consumer base like India, Srivastava said, “We wanted NEXAverse to be not just compatible with all devices including entry-level smartphones, but also functioning well with not so high speed of internet. Thanks to its universality, the platform has got 50,000 users today.”
The exchange4media Group curated the third edition of the MarTech India Conference themed at “Driving Digital Transformation Through MarTech”.
The best martech minds had convened to discuss topics like Metaverse, emerging martech trends, personalization, future-proofing digital marketing, leveraging customer data and social listening strategies.

Jets CB Sauce Gardners Celebratory Cheesehead Knocked Off By Allen Lazard ABC News
Jets CB Sauce Gardner’s Celebratory Cheesehead Knocked Off By Allen Lazard – ABC News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/jets-cb-sauce-gardners-celebratory-cheesehead-knocked-off-by-allen-lazard-abc-news/
GREEN BAY, Wis. — The surprising New York Jets enjoyed their 27-10 win over the Green Bay Packers so much that they decided to partake in a couple of local traditions on Sunday. They took a Lambeau Leap and celebrated the upset by donning a cheesehead, much to the chagrin of a Packers player.
It was rookie cornerback Sauce Gardner who wore the cheesehead, a gift from an ecstatic Jets fan in the crowd. As he strutted off the field and to the tunnel — the wrong tunnel, as it turned out — Gardner was caught from behind, so to speak, by Allen Lazard. The Packers wide receiver knocked Gardner’s block (of cheese) off, creating a moment that went viral on social media.
“I’m definitely never going to forget this moment,” Gardner said, laughing at his locker. “It’s a tribute to the Jets fans. They put in on my head, the Jets fans. I just had to take it and run with it.”
Lazard took it well, complimenting Gardner on his game and his nickname (“Sauce, that’s a cool name”) and insisting he wasn’t bothered by the rookie’s gesture.
“It’s just a little competitive spirit,” Lazard said. “Nothing too harmful in that aspect or anything. I’m sure he probably would’ve done the same thing if I was wearing a Jets hat or helmet walking off their field, so that’s just the competitiveness in me. No disrespect to him.”
The corny moment capped another convincing victory for the Jets, who turned a 3-3 halftime score into a one-sided second half. The Jets sacked Aaron Rodgers four times and hit him nine times; they outrushed Green Bay 179 yards to 60; and they became the first team since 2018 to block a field goal and a punt in the same game — scoring on the latter.
Who could’ve envisioned this? The Jets won their third straight and improved to 4-2 for the first time since 2015, winning in convincing fashion for the second week in a row. This sort of thing usually doesn’t happen to the Jets. In fact, it was only the second time in the past 20 years that they won by at least 17 points in back-to-back games.
The Jets became only the second team in the Super Bowl era to have a winning record through six games despite being an underdog in all six games, according to ESPN Stats & Information research. The other was the 2001 Cleveland Browns.
“We believe we can be as great as any team in this league,” New York defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins said, adding how the Jets are “showing the rest of this world that this is not just a team you can write off or a team that, ‘Oh, maybe they’ll be good in a few years.’ No, we’re coming to win right now.”
Once again, the Jets were led by rookie running back Breece Hall, who rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown. He came became only the second rookie in franchise history to record at least 100 yards from scrimmage in consecutive games. He scored on a 34-yard misdirection play to put the Jets up 24-10 at the start of the fourth quarter.
He decided to take a Lambeau Leap. When in Green Bay …
“We actually had all talked about it before the game,” Hall said. “We were like, whichever one of us scores, we’ve got to do the Lambeau Leap. Braxton [Berrios] got the first one, but I don’t think there were any Jets fans on the side he scored.”
Berrios gave the Jets a 10-3 lead on a 20-yard reverse, a gadget play that seemed to snap the offense out of its doldrums. None of it was pretty, as the Jets finished with 99 net passing yards and converted only one of 11 third downs. They became the first team to win with only one third-down conversion and fewer than 100 net passing yards, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
But the Jets kept grinding, wearing down the favored Packers (3-3) despite a mediocre performance from quarterback Zach Wilson (10-for-18 passing, 110 yards).
New York coach Robert Saleh tried to downplay the significance of the victory, saying, “I’ll be honest: It doesn’t mean anything. Just like a loss wouldn’t have meant anything. I’ve said it before: We’ve got to start expecting stuff like this.”
As Jets cornerback D.J. Reed said, “I think we’re just getting started. We’re 3-0 on the road. That speaks volumes to everybody buying in. … You definitely feel the confidence. Winning is becoming normal. It’s expected, really.”
New York’s defense took over the game, especially tackle Quinnen Williams, who registered two sacks, a forced fumble and a blocked field goal. The Jets sensed that Rodgers was rattled throughout the contest, as he was victimized by six drops.
“He was definitely frustrated,” Rankins said. “That’s what we wanted to see. That’s our objective every week, to piss off every quarterback we line up against in a smart, dominant, violent way. I think we were successful in doing that.”
Pay No Attention To The Price Of Bitcoin And Ethereum Decrypt
Pay No Attention To The Price Of Bitcoin And Ethereum – Decrypt https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/pay-no-attention-to-the-price-of-bitcoin-and-ethereum-decrypt/
Crypto is totally dead lately—if you’re only looking at the price action.
Yes, Bitcoin is down 72% from its all-time-high price in November 2021, almost one full year ago. Ethereum is down the same, 72% from its own high of $4,878. Woof.
Crypto advocates point out that it’s not just crypto, stocks have been hammered too. And they’re right: everything is down right now. But that’s cold comfort for crypto believers, who—I’ll let you in on a little crypto media trade secret—do not care to read any crypto news when crypto prices are down. ConsenSys CEO Joe Lubin put on a brave face last week when talking to me about the technological success of the Ethereum merge, but ETH is down a disheartening 21% since the event.
For a better temperature check on how crypto is doing, look at the major recent signs of mainstream adoption. In the past two months, we got a string of indications that major financial institutions and tech companies believe crypto is here to stay. You’d be excused for having missed these news stories while the global economy was collapsing all around us.
In August, BlackRock, the largest asset manager in the world, launched a spot Bitcoin private trust to give its customers exposure to the current price of Bitcoin. (As a reminder, the SEC has staunchly refused to greenlight a publicly-traded spot Bitcoin ETF, allowing only Bitcoin futures ETFs; but BlackRock can offer its own clients whatever service it wants.) BlackRock also said it’s seeing “substantial interest” in crypto from its institutional clients, and that it’s exploring stablecoins and tokenization. Wow. Bitcoin didn’t budge on that news, a sign of just how much the economy is weighing on every type of asset.
This past week brought two more big shows of faith.
Google announced it will start accepting crypto as payment for its cloud services early next year by plugging into Coinbase. As part of the deal, Coinbase Commerce will move its “data-related applications” from Amazon Web Services over to Google. So not only is this Google Cloud welcoming crypto, but also a form of tie-up between Google and Coinbase.
On the same day, 239-year-old Bank of New York Mellon launched its own Bitcoin and Ethereum custody service. The bank will hold clients’ private keys and provide accounting on their crypto portfolios. This follows BNY Mellon becoming the custodian for the cash reserves that back Circle’s USDC stablecoin in March. And last year, BNY Mellon launched a Bitcoin custody service in Ireland.
BlackRock, Google, BNY Mellon
Probably nothing
— Barry Silbert (@BarrySilbert) October 11, 2022
All of this might look to sneering crypto-skeptics like a sad attempt at rationalization. The favored mantra of Web3 builders, “bear markets are for building,” gets so oft-repeated at times like these that it has become cliché. That doesn’t mean it’s untrue.
I first wrote about Bitcoin in 2011. I’ve witnessed the freezing crypto cycles of 2014, 2018, and now. Some of the best-known crypto companies and platforms were built during those “winters.”
Lubin says crypto is “the tail being wagged by a very sick dog” right now and that it won’t get better until the economy improves. Solana founder Anatoly Yakovenko thinks it could take 12-18 months.
Meanwhile, they’re all still building, as signs of future adoption quietly multiply.

Davidson County Churches Support Early Voting With Souls To The Polls Event Lexington Dispatch
Davidson County Churches Support Early Voting With “Souls To The Polls” Event – Lexington Dispatch https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/davidson-county-churches-support-early-voting-with-souls-to-the-polls-event-lexington-dispatch/
Several churches in Davidson County are helping make sure everyone takes the opportunity to exercise their right to vote by holding events encouraging participation in early voting for the 2022 General Election.
“Souls to the Polls” will take place from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Oct. 30, which is only the second time Davidson County has allowed early voting to take place on a Sunday.

“Souls to the Polls” is a national day of advocacy for voting led by local churches, especially in the African American community. Its origins trace back to the Civil Rights movement when a Black minister in Mississippi was assassinated by white supremacists in 1955, after he helped nearly 100 Black residents register to vote.
Rev. Les Smith, associate minister at Union Baptist Church in Lexington and coordinator of the “Souls to the Polls” in Davidson County, said the event is a way for citizens to go and vote as a group to help reduce or eliminate intimidation and fear.
“We still connect to the historical importance, the fear that individuals used to have. That fear still exists, but in a different way. We encourage people to go as a group, to run the gauntlet of rules, restrictions and voting requirements many have faced, the intimidation they have received. To do your due diligence exercising your right to vote,” said Smith
Churches in Davidson County currently participating in this year’s event include Files Chapel, Union Baptist, New Life Worship Center, Lexington Christian Fellowship, St. Stephens United Methodist Church, Smith View Grove Baptist Church, New Faith Full Gospel Fellowship Center and First Baptist on Village Drive.

Smith says that he expects additional churches from across the county to participate in this effort.
He also stated that several of these same churches are preparing to assist voters the previous day, on Saturday, Oct. 29 by helping anyone lacking transportation to get to their polling location. This service will be available free of charge to all citizens.
“It has nothing to do with your church denomination or political affiliation,” said Smith. “It is about love for your neighbor. If you have any kind of barrier such as transportation, we want everyone to be able to exercise their right to vote.”
Individuals desiring to vote and need transportation to their polling location on Oct. 29 can contact Smith by phone at (336) 705-1141 to schedule a time for transport.
Any individual or church desiring to participate on Oct. 30 are invited and any additional information about your church planning for “Souls to the Polls” should also contact Rev. Smith.
Early voting in Davidson County will begin on Thursday, Oct. 20 and will go through Saturday, Nov. 5. at the Davidson County Board of Elections located 945 N Main Street in Lexington; the Thomasville Library at 14 Randolph Street; the Denton Library at 310 W Salisbury St.; Midway United Methodist Church located at 9795 Old US-52 and the Arcadia Community Center at 1281 Community Rd.
The hours of operation are 8 a.m. through 7:30 p.m. Monday through Friday; 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
Kroger Plans To Buy Albertsons Grocery Stores In A Massive Merger Thrillist
Kroger Plans To Buy Albertsons Grocery Stores In A Massive Merger – Thrillist https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/kroger-plans-to-buy-albertsons-grocery-stores-in-a-massive-merger-thrillist/
Grocery stores in the US might be about to undergo a dramatic change. Kroger has announced plans to buy Albertsons in a deal it says totals nearly $25 billion.
The deal, expected to close in 2024, would bring together two of the largest grocery chains in the country, in addition to creating one of the nation’s largest private employers. Together, the stores total about 710,000 employees, most of which are unionized across the nearly 5,000 combined grocery stores, according to the company. The combined company would also control 66 distribution centers, 52 manufacturing plants, almost 4,000 pharmacies, and more than 2,000 fuel centers.
Kroger and Albertsons, recognizable grocery names in their own right, operate many other stores. The group of stores under the Kroger umbrella includes Ralphs, Harris Teeter, Dillons, Fred Meyer, and others. Meanwhile, Albertsons stores include Safeway and Vons.
For context, Amazon’s acquisition of Whole Foods was valued at $13.7 billion back in 2017. This merger would make Kroger the second largest grocery retailer in the US with a 13.5% market share, trailing only Walmart’s 15.5%, per CNN.
“This merger advances our commitment to build a more equitable and sustainable food system by expanding our footprint into new geographies to serve more of America with fresh and affordable food and accelerates our position as a more compelling alternative to larger and non-union competitors,” Rodney McMullen, Kroger CEO, said in a statement.
Consolidations have become familiar across the US in recent years. CNN suggests that the massive scale of the combined companies would provide the buying equity capable of fending off other big retailers like Amazon and Walmart. CNN also cites increased competition from discount and warehouse retailers like Dollar General, Aldi, and Costco. Though, there are many who believe the merger would be bad for consumers.
The deal is a long way from finished, and industry experts have said that there are large hurdles to clear with regard to antitrust security. Some unions, Democrats, and others have come out against the deal, including Senator Bernie Sanders, who called it an “absolute disaster.”
They argue prices could ultimately rise due to the merger and that competition will be driven out of some markets. “There is no reason to allow two of the biggest supermarket chains in the country to merge–especially with food prices already soaring,” said Sarah Miller, Executive Director of the American Economic Liberties Project, an anti-monopoly organization. “With 60% of grocery sales concentrated among just 5 national chains, a Kroger-Albertons deal would squeeze consumers already struggling to afford food, crush workers fighting for fair wages, and destroy independent, community stores. This merger is a cut and dry case of monopoly power, and enforcers should block it.”
