Have you ever wondered what the healthiest fast-food place is? Okay, eating a greasy hamburger or piece of fried chicken you got for only a couple of bucks is never going to be the same as eating a bowl of quinoa or brown rice. But, out of all the mainstream fast-food restaurants, which one would be the healthiest compared to the rest?
While a list of the healthiest fast-food restaurants may put businesses such as Subway, Chipotle, and even Chick-fil-A near the top thanks to their moderate lack of deep-fried foods and low-calorie offerings, you may be surprised to learn that Taco Bell may actually be considered a “healthy” fast-food option. According to Taste of Home, Taco Bell has removed artificial flavors and colors from its menu, serves cage-free eggs and antibiotic-free chicken, and plans to reduce sodium by 25% by 2025. Thrillist reports that certain menu items such as the Black Beans and Rice, Grilled Steak Soft Taco, and even the Cheesy Toasted Breakfast Burrito are all healthy items to get at your local Taco Bell — or at least healthier than a greasy burger, all things considered.
But if Taco Bell is so “healthy,” then it would stand that eating large quantities of it wouldn’t have too bad an effect on your body, right? For one man in Lexington, Virginia, the idea of following a “Taco Bell Diet” sounded like an interesting experiment. Could a person survive 30 days on Taco Bell items and suffer little health consequences?
Sam Reid ate Taco Bell for 30 days

if you’re perhaps interested in the study of fast food in American society, you may be familiar with “Supersize Me.” It’s that film where Morgan Spurlock consumes McDonald’s over the course of one month and documents the effects it has on his body (via IMDb). Young Virginian athlete and content creator Sam Reid launched a similar experiment in the summer of 2022, where he would consume Taco Bell for 30 days as part of a plan to ignite discussion on fast food in health-focused diets.
According to WDBJ 7 News, Reid began his experiment in July, launching a Kickstarter to help fund his 30 days of Living Mas, with a plan to document changes to his health throughout before uploading the entire experiment online. Although he would be consuming Taco Bell for over a month, Reid explains he would be visiting doctors and performing fitness tests to see if he could maintain a healthy weight even if he’s eating cheap fast food. As NBC 29 reports, by day 15, Reid claimed to be “feeling great.” His project had gained some attention on social media and local Taco Bell workers had come to know him on a first-name basis.
On August 22, Reid ate at Taco Bell’s flagship location on the Las Vegas Strip, thus concluding the experiment. His final video on the aftermath of the experiment notes that his first meal aside from Taco Bell was a feast at a local Cook Out restaurant.
Reid announced on his Kickstarter page that he will be posting his finished documentary to his Youtube channel on October 12, 2022.

No. 3 Ohio State overcame a crucial mistake and established a big lead in the second quarter to carry a 35-13 lead into the locker room at halftime against Michigan State. This is the first true road game of the season for C.J. Stroud and the Buckeyes, so when the star quarterback threw an interception that led to an early Michigan State touchdown, the potential for a real test seemed to be in the air in East Lansing, Michigan.
But the crowd that was rocking early started to sense the game get away as Stroud and Ohio State scored touchdowns on all four of the ensuing drives after the interception. While Michigan State has struggled to move the ball consistently, the Buckeyes have capitalized on alignment errors by the Spartans defense and their wealth of pass-catching options — three Ohio State receivers have between 80 and 110 yards through just two quarters — to continue to pour on the points through the afternoon.
In total, Stroud has completed 15 of 18 passes for 285 yards and four touchdowns to go with that interception while star running back TreVeyon Henderson, back in the lineup after missing last week’s win, has already totaled 117 yards and a touchdown on 18 attempts.

IMPT is a brand-new project that strives to use blockchain technology to make the world more sustainable. It is an excellent nominee for the “greenest” cryptocurrency of the year.
After only five days of the presale, the project’s native currency, the IMPT token, has already raised an incredible $2.1 million.

IMPT – Best ESG-friendly Crypto to Buy Today
By acquiring carbon credits, the equivalent of offsetting 1 ton of carbon, individuals and businesses can lower their impact on the environment through IMPT. To address the problems now confronting the sector, IMPT has decided to tokenize carbon credits.
This will eliminate any issues with double-spending tokens and greatly boost the industry’s openness. Several options exist for acquiring carbon credits. In the first place, you can get them from the IMPT market.
However, IMPT has partnered with over 10,000 brands to award users with IMPT tokens merely for buying, making it possible for anyone without access to a cryptocurrency exchange to get their hands on some. Carbon credits can be bought and exchanged with these tokens.
IMPT Uses NFTs for Carbon Credits
With IMPT, NFTs can be employed in a brand new context: as a form of carbon offset. Putting carbon credits on a blockchain makes them much harder to falsify than any other method.
The public nature of the ledger makes it extremely difficult for carbon credits to be abused in any significant sense. It also ensures that they are constantly transparent, neither of which would be feasible without this system.
IMPT Marketplace
Carbon credits can be purchased, sold, and retired in the IMPT carbon marketplace. To create a market for carbon credits, NFTs are created. When used in carbon markets, blockchain technology eliminates the chance of double counting and fraud.
An independent auditor checks all carbon credits on the IMPT platform to ensure they were generated per the Global Certification Protocols.
Carbon credit issuers and holders must complete a Know Your Customer (KYC) process. Moreover, the carbon trading platform IMPT operates on three tiers:
First Tier
Tokens for the IMPT platform can be obtained by anyone at Level 1 using cryptocurrency or fiat currency.
The user can save these IMPT tokens and then use them to purchase carbon credits.
The blockchain-based NFTs will replace the carbon credits.
Second Tier
Users can trade and sell their carbon credit tokens on the market. Only IMPT tokens can be used to pay for goods and services, and users can either burn their carbon credit tokens to lower their carbon footprint and see an effect immediately or hold on to the tokens as an investment.
Third Tier
Users can buy and sell valuable NFTs obtained by burning carbon credit tokens in the third and final tier. The user who burnt the carbon credit tokens and the artist who designed the collectible NFT would each own a unique work of art.
Visit IMPT Today
If you want to buy IMPT tokens, you’re in luck because the IMPT presale is still going on. However, the IMPT presale appears to be completely sold out well ahead of its scheduled end date of November 25.

Weir: Denton County Resident Invents Board Games The Cross Timbers Gazette
Weir: Denton County Resident Invents Board Games – The Cross Timbers Gazette https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/weir-denton-county-resident-invents-board-games-the-cross-timbers-gazette/
Do you enjoy board games? With the many forms of recreation available to us, from television, including streaming services, to surfing the Internet for video movies, comedy series, etc., many people have lost the art of challenge associated with board games. When I was growing up, checkers, chess, Scrabble and Monopoly were a regular part of my leisure amusements. You can learn a lot about strategy, and you can exercise the power of your frontal lobe, while having fun with relatives and friends.
Corinth, Texas resident, Doug Reuter has been an inventor of board games for several decades. As Doug says, “The toy and game industry has given me the life I could only dream of as a child. The efforts of people in the toy and game industry – the manufacturers especially – provide toy and game inventors the outlet – the opportunity – to get that next best invention in the hands of the public. My claim to fame in the industry is that I am the inventor of the family board game SEQUENCE. It took four years to invent, three more to get it licensed and almost one more year before the first copy was sold in a store.”
Doug grew up in Minneapolis where winters are cold and playing games in a warm house was better than playing outside. “My two brothers were exceptionally intelligent and virtually had photographic memories. They took after my dad who skipped the third grade! My older brother got a degree in Nuclear Physics and my younger brother became a lawyer and later a Judge. I, on the other hand, had a creative mind, and was not averse to taking risks, which can be a dangerous mix. If you asked a lot of my friends for a word or two to describe me, they would most likely say that Doug is a RULES guy. They would say he writes rules for the games he invents to ensure the games are played the way he intended them to be played.”
This attribute came in handy for Doug while he served two terms in the Minnesota House of Representatives where “I used all the rules available to me to my advantage and against opponents.”
Doug says the basic concept behind SEQUENCE came to him in 1974, in a dream. “I woke up about 2:30 am one morning having had a pretty vivid dream about a game. I got up, found a pencil and paper and wrote down everything I could remember about my dream. The basics of my dream were 100 cards on a board that was 10 rows by 10 columns. All the cards appeared to be mixed up. In my dream, there were two sets of five chips in a row on the board – one vertical and the other on a diagonal. That was the dream. I had to fill in all the other details that became SEQUENCE, four years later.”
During the video interview, Doug talks about the success of SEQUENCE, other games he invented, including his latest “7,” and his experiences attempting to repeat past successes. Also, in the link below, Doug describes a tragic incident involving his son. “Life has not been an easy road just because I’m the inventor of a very popular board game. My wife and I had three children. Our youngest, our only son, suffered a mental break in 2004 – his second year of college. We had absolutely no experience or knowledge about mental illness. We were all thrust into a world where we knew nothing about what we were all dealing with and yet we all had to figure it out fast.”
India Kicks Off Bank Divestments – The Daily Star https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/india-kicks-off-bank-divestments-the-daily-star/
The Indian government is looking to sell a 60.72 per cent stake in $5.6 billion IDBI Bank and has invited expressions of interest, it said on Friday, setting the ball rolling on a series of planned divestments to reduce the budget deficit.
In 2020, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced plans to privatise most state-run companies, including banks, mining companies and insurers.
Many state-run banks are saddled with bad debt and have been a drag on growth.
State-owned Life Insurance Corporation of India will be diluting its holding in IDBI Bank as part of the sale process with the total stake sale comprising a 30.48 per cent stake from the government and a 30.24 per cent stake from LIC.
At the end of June the Indian government held 45.48 per cent of IDBI bank while LIC held 49.24 per cent.
IDBI had a market value of 459.13 billion rupees ($5.57 billion) as of Friday’s close.
Banks, foreign lenders, shadow banks, alternate investment funds and offshore funds have been allowed to place bids. However, large industrial and corporate houses and individuals are not eligible to bid.
Bids can be submitted by single entities or as part of a consortium and potential bidders should have a minimum capital net worth of at least 225 billion Indian rupees or $2.85 billion.
The short-listed bidders will also have to pass a “fit and proper” assessment of the central bank. The successful bidder will be required to make an open offer to public shareholders of IDBI Bank.
The public holds a 5.29 per cent stake in IDBI Bank as of the end of June.
The successful bidder will also be mandated to lock in at least 40 per cent of the paid up and voting equity share capital of IDBI Bank for five years from the date of the acquisition.
In the case of a consortium, there will be a lock-in in proportion to holdings of the investment vehicle, according to the central bank guidelines.
The ceiling on voting rights is set at 26 per cent in line with existing rules for private banks. Even though state-owned LIC and the government hold a majority stake in IDBI Bank, the government categorises it as a private lender.
The last date for submission of expression of interest has been set at December 16.
The government announced plans to sell its stake in IDBI Bank last year, something it has considered for several years.
“The bank’s financial health has improved and it is in a much better position now, so it may not be as difficult to divest a stake in the bank as it was five-six years ago,” said Ashvin Parekh, an independent banking consultant.
IDBI is a mid-sized lender which in the three months to June 30 made a net profit of 7.56 billion rupees, up from 6.03 billion rupees a year earlier. Net bad loans were 19.9 per cent.

The U.S. Department of the Treasury celebrated its annual Freedman’s Bank Forum on Tuesday in Washington, D.C., in recognition of the 158th anniversary of the chartering of the Freedman’s Savings and Trust Company, commonly referred to as the Freedman’s Bank.
The bank was created to provide economic opportunity for newly emancipated Americans, and the 2022 forum focused on ways to increase community and economic development and the role that Minority Depository Institutions play in broad-based economic growth and the financial health of all Americans.
Vice President Kamala Harris used the platform to announce a public and private-sector effort to advance racial economic equity.
“Small businesses are the engines of our economy and the path to economic prosperity for countless Americans in underserved communities,” Harris said.
“Community lenders – including MDIs, and others – are vital to unlocking the full economic potential of these communities, turning previously sidelined talent into a source of economic growth and shared prosperity for all.”
Harris said Black-owned businesses routinely have more difficulty in finding funding, and acknowledged that “they are the first to suffer during an economic downturn.”
Harris said the Small Business Administration (SBA) would propose a rule later this year to expand its lender base by lifting the moratorium on new Small Business Lending Companies.
The action would allow new lenders to apply for a license to offer SBA-backed 7(a) small business loans.
Also, the Minority Business Development Agency (MDBA) will issue a $100 million notice of funding opportunity to provide technical assistance grants for entrepreneurship technical assistance providers to help businesses owned by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals launch, scale, and connect with growth capital.
Harris said to facilitate greater availability of small-balance mortgages, and HUD would issue requests to solicit specific and actionable feedback on the barriers that prevent the origination of these mortgages and recommendations for increasing the volume of small-mortgage loans in federal programs.
The White House said these and a host of other new policy steps follow two recent announcements by the administration of billions of dollars in investments for Community Development Financial Institutions (CDFIs) and Minority Depository Institutions (MDIs).
The actions aim to deliver capital and resources to underserved small businesses and the community lenders who serve them, Harris stated.
Janet Yellen, the U.S. Department of Treasury secretary, said the White House feels the Freedman’s Bank Forum is an excellent stage “to shine a spotlight on how the administration’s pandemic relief efforts supported Black – and minority-owned businesses.”
Since its inaugural year in 2015, the forum has sought to develop strategies to help stamp out and overcome systemic racism in the financial industry.
“Unfortunately, for too long, the small business ecosystem in underserved communities has struggled to keep up with better-funded businesses and entrepreneurs in more prosperous communities,” Harris stated.
“Entrepreneurs of color regularly report being turned away by traditional financial institutions for loans at higher rates than their white counterparts. And the community lenders committed to filling that gap similarly report that shortfalls in capital and technical capacity limit their ability to invest in the communities that need them the most.”
According to the Labor Dept., roughly 96% of Black-owned businesses are sole proprietorships and single-employee companies. These businesses have the hardest time finding funding and are often the first to suffer during economic downturns.
They often turn to financial institutions for the underserved and other non-traditional lenders for micro-loans and grants.
The new support for community finance institutions, small businesses and low wealth communities is “an effort to unlock the economic potential of communities of color, rural areas, and others that have experienced limits on economic opportunity,” the department said.

Tribunal Data Shows Eviction Applications Much Higher In Sydneys West WAtoday
Tribunal Data Shows Eviction Applications Much Higher In Sydney’s West – WAtoday https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/tribunal-data-shows-eviction-applications-much-higher-in-sydneys-west-watoday/
NSW landlords are far more likely to take legal action against tenants than the other way around, and the rate of eviction applications is many times higher in Sydney’s west and south-west, new data shows.
Tenants’ Union chief executive Leo Patterson Ross said the year’s worth of figures from the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal showed the system was stacked against tenants and reiterated calls for a ban on “no grounds” evictions.

But the Property Owners’ Association hit back, pointing out eviction applications had decreased compared to the previous year in most areas, and argued landlords only used the tribunal with a good reason and as a last resort.
The NCAT data for 2021-22, provided to the Herald by the union, showed that in the private rental market, landlords made just over 70 per cent of applications, and tenants just under 30 per cent. In social housing market, landlords made 92.7 per cent of applications.
In the private rental market, the rate of eviction applications was much higher in Sydney’s south-west compared to the north shore and eastern suburbs. There were 3.8 applications to evict per 100 rentals in the Liverpool local government area, 3.4 in Fairfield and 3.2 in Campbelltown, and 2.9 in Blacktown and Canterbury-Bankstown.
Whereas in the City of Sydney the rate was 0.8 applications per 100 rentals, 0.7 in the inner west, and 0.6 in Randwick and Woollahra LGAs.
Only a few disputes make the tribunal, and not all applications for eviction lead to a tenant being thrown out. Often the threat of legal action at NCAT will prompt payment of rent, or the matter will end in a mediated payment plan.
The union said it was more common for social housing landlords to start eviction action with the intention of arranging a payment plan rather than actually evicting the tenant.
While a number of factors may contribute to eviction applications in Sydney’s west, Ross said rising cost-of-living pressures and low wage growth had hit lower-income renters hard, and there was little support for tenants struggling with debt or landlords deprived of rental income.
Ross said the lack of NCAT cases lodged by tenants – for repairs issues or other problems – showed they weren’t confident the system would work for them, or they feared retribution from landlords.
Loading
“[With] our repairs system – the technical requirements are actually quite good compared to other countries. It’s just that no one experiences that because the enforcement falls on a group without any consumer power,” Ross said. “It’s a law that you have to enforce as a tenant.”
Amy Albee, who lives in Tregear near Mount Druitt with her three children, said it took months for her real estate agent to get a tradesman to inspect a leaky roof that had led to mould in her home. She said when they finally obtained a quote, she was asked to pay for half the cleaning.
“I was actually really angry. I thought, ‘how dare you, this isn’t my fault’,” she said.
Albee, 25, applied to NCAT for redress but said she came under sustained pressure to withdraw the claim – which she eventually did once the mould was cleaned last month. She believes her decision to make the claim spurred her landlord to get the cleaner in, but she was worried it would end up costing her a home.
“Tenants need to be able to have their opinion without the fear of being evicted and being homeless, especially in a huge rental crisis,” Albee said. “I don’t want to push limits, but we deserve to have a safe home and healthy lifestyle.”
Debra Beck-Mewing, the owner of strategic buyers’ agency Property Frontline and a committee member of the Property Owners’ Association of NSW, said the data showed that landlords “use NCAT as an absolute last resort”.
She pointed out eviction applications were down year-on-year in most areas – possibly an effect of COVID-19, as the 2021-22 data included the period of last year’s long Delta lockdown.
“Landlords are required to go through a considerable number of steps and communication and processes to actually get to NCAT, and that’s quite an arduous process,” Beck-Mewing said. “You can’t just ring up and go. There has to be a reason.”
She also said tenants had other avenues of redress such as Fair Trading or the Rental Bond Board, and that explained why relatively few tenants used NCAT.
Loading
Ross repeated the union’s call for NSW to end no-grounds or no-fault evictions, as other states, including Victoria, claim to have done, and the UK government has also pledged to do.
“This is not something that’s seen as lefty socialist stuff in other countries, this is something the [British] Conservative Party has already accepted as a reasonable policy,” he said.
Beck-Mewing said landlords staunchly opposed getting rid of no-grounds or no-fault evictions.
“No property owner takes action to end the lease lightly, but we have to have the option to move back into a property or renovate it if we need to,” she said. “Tenants and landlords really need to work together to solve this issue of affordability. It’s traumatic for everybody, and of course, we would say it’s a supply issue.”

The full injury report for Week 5
Oct 8, 2022 at 4:11 pm ET • 9 min read
USATSI
As a month has passed in the NFL season, the injury reports are starting to pile up with each passing week. Week 5 certainly has its fair share of players on the mend as the fall weather hits and teams are starting to establish themselves as contenders or pretenders.
There are a few big names questionable to play in Sunday’s games, which will be found in the injury report below. Here’s a roundup of all the injuries heading into the Week 5 slate of games:
Giants at Packers (-8)
Giants: CB Cordale Flott (calf), WR Kenny Golladay (knee), DL Henry Mondeaux (ankle), LB Azeez Ojulari (calf), WR Wan’Dale Robinson (knee), QB Tyrod Taylor (concussion), WR Kadarius Toney (hamstring) OUT; DL Leonard Williams (knee)
Packers: S Adrian Amos (concussion), S Tariq Carpenter (abdomen), DL Devonte Wyatt (quad) QUESTIONABLE
Good news for the Giants? Daniel Jones is not on this injury report and will start Sunday for New York. Expect Davis Webb to be elevated from the practice squad with Taylor out. With no Golladay or Toney, the Giants will go with David Sills, Richie James, and Darius Slayton as their top-three wide receivers.
For the Packers, Amos will likely come down to the wire, as he remains in concussion protocol. David Bakhtiari (knee) got a rest day Friday, but will play. Allen Lazard (ankle) didn’t receive a game designation, so he’ll play Sunday.
Steelers at Bills (-14)
Steelers: CB Cameron Sutton (groin. hamstring) QUESTIONABLE; S Terrell Edmunds (concussion), CB Ahkello Witherspoon (hamstring) OUT
Bills: CB Christian Benford (hand), WR Jamison Crowder (ankle), TE Dawson Knox (foot/hamstring), WR Jake Kumerow (ankle), FS Jordan Poyer (ribs) OUT
The Bills are banged up in the secondary, as Poyer will miss his second game in three weeks after injuring his ribs in Sunday’s win over Baltimore. Benford hasn’t practiced all week, so it’s not a surprise he’s out. Head coach Sean McDermott said Friday linebacker Tremaine Edmunds (hamstring) and wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie (concussion protocol) are “day to day,” so their statuses will come down to the wire. Meanwhile, Pittsburgh downgraded Terrell Edmunds to out.
Chargers (-2.5) at Browns
Chargers: WR Keenan Allen (hamstring) OUT; K Dustin Hopkins (right quadricep), WR Josh Palmer (ankle) QUESTIONABLE
Browns: DT Taven Bryan (hamstring), DE Jadeveon Clowney (ankle) QUESTIONABLE
Clowney did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday and was limited on Friday, after not playing last week, while Bryan was limited all week at practice.
Palmer was a full practice Friday after being limited the rest of the week and Hopkins was limited all week.
Texans at Jaguars (-7)
Texans: LB Blake Cashman (concussion), OT Austin Deculus (ankle), TE Brevin Jordan (ankle), WR Chris Moore (hip) OUT; DE Jonathan Greenard (ankle)
Jaguars: DL Foley Fatukasi (quadricep) OUT; OLB K’Lavon Chaisson (ankle), WR Zay Jones (ankle), OL Cole Van Lanen (hamstring) QUESTIONABLE
The Texans had a lengthy injury report this week, but out of the 13 people listed, Greenard, who did not practice on Wednesday and Thursday and was limited on Friday, is the only question mark. If the starter does not play, that would leave Rasheem Green and Demone Harris as the two options for the position.
Bears at Vikings (-7.5)
Bears: S Dane Cruikshank (hamstring), CB Jaylon Johnson (quad) DOUBTFUL; RB David Montgomery (ankle) QUESTIONABLE
Vikings: TE Ben Ellefson (groin) OUT; WR Jalen Nailor (hamstring), CB Andrew Booth (quad) QUESTIONABLE
Montgomery was limited in Friday’s practice and his status for Sunday could be determined in Saturday’s walkthrough. Khalil Herbert will start if Montgomery is downgraded to out.
For the Vikings, Booth was a full participant Friday — so it’s likely he plays Sunday after missing several weeks with the quad injury. Minnesota has been one of the healthier teams in the league.
Lions at Patriots (-3)
Lions: WR Quintez Cephus (Foot), WR DJ Chark (Ankle), DL John Cominsky (Wrist), DE Charles Harris (Groin), T Matt Nelson (Calf), RB D’Andre Swift (Shoulder/Ankle) OUT; G Kayode Awosika (Hamstring), LB Chris Board (Knee), C Evan Brown (Ankle), G Jonah Jackson (Finger), WR Josh Reynolds (Ankle), WR Amon-Ra St. Brown (Ankle) QUESTIONABLE
Patriots: DL Lawrence Guy (shoulder), DL DaMarcus Mitchell (concussion) OUT; QB Mac Jones (ankle), TE Jonnu Smith (ankle) DOUBTFUL; S Kyle Dugger (knee), LB Raekwon McMillan (thumb), WR Jakobi Meyers (knee), CB Jalen Mills (Hamstring), S Adrian Phillips (ribs), OT Isaiah Wynn (hip) QUESTIONABLE
The biggest news out of this game is Jones listed as doubtful, with Hoyer unspecified with a concussion, that means rookie third string quarterback Bailey Zappe is expected to make his first NFL start against a struggling Lions defense.
Seahawks at Saints (-5.5)
Seahawks: WR Dareke Young (quadricep) OUT, WR Marquise Goodwin (knee/back), CB Justin Coleman (calf), RB Kenneth Walker III (shoulder) QUESTIONABLE
Saints: G Calvin Throckmorton (hip), DE Payton Turner (chest), WR Michael Thomas (foot), S P.J. Williams (quad) OUT; QB Jameis Winston (back/ankle) DOUBTFUL; S Marcus Maye (rib), G Andrus Peat (concussion), RB Alvin Kamara (rib), WR Jarvis Landry (ankle) QUESTIONABLE
The key injury for the Saints here is Winston, who won’t start Sunday. Andy Dalton will start at quarterback for the second straight week. The Saints will be cautious with Winston in order to get him healthy. Landry is questionable, but the veteran wideout feels good about his chances of playing against the Seahawks.
Dolphins (-3.5) at Jets
Dolphins: OT Terron Armstead (toe), DB Keion Crossen (glute/shoulder), CB Xavien Howard (groins), G Robert Jones (back), WR Jaylen Waddle (groin), RB Salvon Ahmed (back), WR Tyreek Hill (quad) QUESTIONABLE; TE Cethan Carter (concussion), QB Tua Tagovailoa (concussion/back/ankle) OUT
Jets: OT Max Mitchell (knee), ILB Quincy Williams you (ankle) OUT; LB Marcell Harris (neck) QUESTIONABLE
Following injuries in back-to-back weeks, the last which caused him to be carted off the field in a stretcher, Tagovailoa is out with a concussion. How Tua’s injury was handled has caused some outrage across the league. The NFLPA has asked the NFL to alter the concussion protocol ahead of this weekend’s games and the two sides are closing in on an agreement. Waddle and Hill are two others to keep an eye on, with both limited in practice on Thursday and Friday.
Falcons at Buccaneers (-10)
Falcons: TE Kyle Pitts (hamstring) OUT
Buccaneers: TE Cameron Brate (concussion); DE Akiem Hicks (foot), CB Logan Ryan (foot) OUT; WR Julio Jones (knee), WR Breshad Perriman (knee/hamstring) QUESTIONABLE
The Falcons will not have Pitts or Cordarrelle Patterson for this one, arguably their two top playmakers on offense. Expect a lot of targets for Drake London and No. 2 wide receiver Olamide Zaccheaus Sunday. Parker Hesse is the No. 2 tight end on the depth chart with Pitts out, while Anthony Firkser will be elevated from the No. 2 tight end.
For the Buccaneers, Todd Bowles didn’t reveal any other information on Jones other than he’s questionable. Chris Godwin (knee) did not receive an injury designation, so he’s healthy heading into this one. Russell Gage (hamstring) also wasn’t given an injury designation.
Titans (-1.5) at Commanders
Titans: OLB Ola Adeniyi (neck), WR Treylon Burks (toe), LB Zach Cunningham (elbow), OLB Bud Dupree (hip), LB Joe Jones (knee) OUT; G Nate Davis (knee/foot), CB Caleb Farley (knee), DB Lonnie Johnson (illness) QUESTIONABLE
Commanders: S Percy Butler (quad), WR Jahan Dotson (hamstring), LB Milo Eifler (hamstring), RT Sam Cosmi (flower) OUT; LB David Mayo (hamstring), TE Logan Thomas (calf) QUESTIONABLE
No Burks for the Titans this week, so expect a heftier target share for Robert Woods and Nick Westbrook-Ikhine in the passing game. Kyle Philips was limited the last week with a shoulder injury, but he should see an increased role as well as an early-season target favorite of Ryan Tannehill.
The Commanders will miss Dotson after he suffered a hamstring injury Sunday against the Cowboys, but will have Curtis Samuel (illness) available this week. Thomas was a late addition to the injury report, so his status is up in the air for Sunday. Cam Sims is the top receiver option to replace Dotson on the depth chart.
49ers (-6.5) at Panthers
49ers: DL Arik Armstead (foot, ankle), RB Tyrion Davis-Price (anklet ), DT Javon Kinlaw (knee), TE Tyler Kroft (knee), OL Colton McKivitz (knee), DB Tarvarius Moore (hamstring), T Trent Williams (ankle) OUT
Panthers: WR Laviska Shenault Jr. (hamstring), CB Stantley Thomas-Oliver (thigh), TE Stephen Sullivan (back) OUT; DE Marquis Haynes (knee), LB Frankie Luvu (shoulder), S Xavier Woods (hamstring)
The Panthers already have Jeremy Chinn on injured reserve, so Woods not playing would be a major loss. Sean Chandler and Myles Hartsfield would be in line to start. Shenault didn’t practice all week, so no surprise he’s out. The 49ers have are dealing with a lot of injuries this week, with seven players listed as out.
Eagles (-5) at Cardinals
Eagles: K Jake Elliott (right ankle), LB Patrick Johnson (concussion), CB Avonte Maddox (ankle) T Jordan Mailata (shoulder) OUT; RB Boston Scott (rib) QUESTIONABLE
Cardinals: OL D.J. Humphries (hamstring), WR Rondale Moore (knee), CB Trayvon Mullen Jr. (hamstring), OL Justin Pugh (elbow) QUESTIONABLE; OL Rodney Hudson (knee) DOUBTFUL); OL Max Garcia (toe), DL Rashard Lawrence (hand) K Matt Prater (hip), LB Nick Vigil (hamstring) OUT
With Elliott out, Cameron Dicker will be called up from the practice squad and handle the field go...

Guide To Customize IOS 16 Home And Lock Screen Wallpaper – Gadgets To Use https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/guide-to-customize-ios-16-home-and-lock-screen-wallpaper-gadgets-to-use/
Apple’s latest iOS release has brought in a variety of new elements including popular custom wallpapers, that changes the look and feel of your iPhone. It also offers cool customizations like font styles, depth effects, and widgets. Today in this read, we’ll help you understand iOS 16 wallpapers with ease and customize the lock screen and home screen as per your taste. You can also refer to our guide on how to get iOS 16 lock screen on Android, to enjoy this with your Android (Green bubble) friends.
Guide to iOS 16 Custom Wallpaper on Home and Lock Screen
Below we have shared the complete guide to help you customize each element of the lock screen and home screen wallpaper on your iPhone running iOS 16.
In-built Wallpapers on iOS 16
iOS 16 offers a variety of in-built wallpapers. These wallpapers are customizable within themselves and offer plenty of cool features to fiddle around with. Here’s how you can customize it:
1. Long tap or hold the lock screen, to see an array of wallpapers.
2. Tap the + icon from the bottom right to choose a new wallpaper.
3. Here you can choose from multiple wallpapers. Some wallpapers offer effects like the weather wallpaper offers dynamic effects based on location and time of the day. Wallpapers from Collections and Astronomy are some of my favorites.
4. Now, tap on your favorite wallpaper to customize it.
5. Alternatively, you can also access wallpapers from Settings Wallpaper Add New Wallpaper.
Set Custom Wallpapers on iOS 16
iOS 16 offers you to add multiple lock screens, at once, allowing you to toggle them based on your mood and vibe. So If you would like to add an image from your last trip, or a picture of your loved one, instead of using the in-built wallpaper, it can be done as follow.
1. Long press the lock screen and tap the plus (+) icon, now click on the Photos tab from the top left corner.
2. Now, choose the picture you want to use as wallpaper and proceed to customize it. Once down, tap on Add to save the changes.
If your photo has a different aspect ratio or is smaller than the screen size, you can follow our article to fit a square photo on the iOS 16 lock screen.
Customizing iOS 16 Wallpaper – Custom Fonts
Once you have applied the wallpaper on your iPhone’s lock screen running iOS 16, you can customize it further with your favorite font and color. Here’s how.
1. Go to the lock screen UI, and tap on Customize.
2. Now, tap the Clock on the lock screen.
3. A new pop-up will come up with a variety of different font styles and colors to choose from.
4. Choose your favorite font and adjust its colors according to your preference.
Add Custom Widgets on iOS 16
With iOS 16, Apple has introduced widgets, to add a more personal touch to your iPhone directly from the lock screen. Here’s how to add widgets on the iOS 16 lock screen.
1. Tap on Add Widgets box, just below the clock and time on the lock screen.
2. Now, you can add up to four widgets from in-built widgets and add a custom widget for apps like Fitness, Snapchat, etc.
3. Once you have added your favorite widgets tap the cross button to close the tab.
4. You can also tap the calendar widget to customize and swap it with options like stocks, fitness, etc.
Apply Wallpaper Filters
While you get multiple font options for the clock, do you know that you can also add filters to your chosen iOS 16 lock screen wallpaper? Here’s how it can be done:
1. Swipe Left or Right while on the customization screen, to reveal and change the filters.
2. Now, you can pick the one that makes your wallpaper stand out.
Currently, the iOS 16 lock screen supports four filters, namely Natural, Black and White, and Duo-Tone. More filters are expected to come in future software builds.
Add Depth Effect to iOS 16 Lock Screen
The Depth Effect on the iOS 16 lock screen is probably the most talked about feature and for good reasons. It magically sets the wallpaper on top of the time and clock of your lock screen to give a three-dimensional look. This is indeed magical because you do not need a portrait mode shot to achieve it. The phone itself is capable of recognizing, and mapping out the subject in the image, to put the time/clock behind it. Here’s how to use it:
1. Go to the customization screen.
2. Tap the three-dots icon from the bottom right of the screen.
3. Tap on Depth Effect to enable it.
It has its limitations (like it only works on iPhones with an A12 Bionic chip and above) but works well on almost all wallpapers with a prominent subject – and it looks great!
Note: For some wallpapers, you might need to manually adjust it, by pinch zoom for the depth effect to work properly.
Home Screen Customizations on iOS 16
Once you have customized your iOS 16 lock screen, a prompt will ask you to either make it a home screen and lock screen pair or manually Customize your Home Screen. If you choose to manually customize your home screen, there are plenty of options to choose from. While they are not as extensive as the lock screen but are sufficient for a fresh new look.
1. After customizing the lock screen, tap on Done.
2. Tap on Customize Home Screen, from the pop-up menu.
3. Now you can choose to keep it original, apply a solid color, a gradient of colors, or even set a photo.
4. You can also set a Blur background if you happen to choose the lock screen wallpaper or set a picture from the gallery.
Bonus: Quick Switch Between Customized Wallpapers
Naturally, after making so many customizations, you might wish to save these for the future so that you can experiment with other wallpapers, without disturbing your current set of personalization. Thankfully, we now have an option to do so. Much like the Apple Watch, iOS 16 allows you to save multiple customized wallpaper sets and quickly access them.
1. Long hold on the Lock Screen.
2. Swipe left or right to access the wallpapers sets you have personalized so far.
3. Tap a wallpaper to quickly apply it – it’s that simple!
4. You can tap the plus (+) icon located on the bottom right, to add more Wallpapers.
Wrapping Up
So this was all about the iOS 16 wallpaper, and how you can customize the lock screen and home screen according to your preference. Crypto Mining Metrics Roundup: Bitcoin Production Slips In September, Hashrate Climbs – Seeking Alpha https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/crypto-mining-metrics-roundup-bitcoin-production-slips-in-september-hashrate-climbs-seeking-alpha/

Cryptocurrency miners saw a modest decline in the number of bitcoins (BTC-USD) mined in September vs. August, as an increase in the network hashrate and difficulty screamed trouble for profit margins.
The so-called difficulty of mining is a closely watched metric in the crypto ecosystem. It measures how hard it is to mine a bitcoin (BTC-USD) block based on the amount of participants and computing power (hashing power) used to mine and secure the blockchain. A high difficulty (as a result of high hashing power), as is the case now, tends to lower miners’ profitability. Difficulty is currenting sitting around record highs at 31.36 trillion vs. 30.97 trillion a month ago, according to data from blockchain.com.
The bitcoin (BTC-USD) network’s hashrate, which measures how much computing power is being used to process transactions on the blockchain, is standing at an all-time high of nearly 255 exahash per second, in a move that underscores margin compression in the mining industry, according to blockchain.com data. That’s up from 225 EH/s a month before.
Despite a backdrop of a higher network hashrate and difficulty along with suppressed bitcoin (BTC-USD) prices, miners’ revenue has edged up in September, rising to $22.4M at the end of the month from $16.6M at the beginning of the month, as per blockchain.com data. Still, that’s down from $40.9M in the year-ago period.
Overall, crypto miners’ bitcoin (BTC-USD) production ticked down 1.1% on average, while the hashrate jumped 10.6%, according to the table below. Some companies cited a shorter month as one of the key issues in less BTC production.
Looking at the miners individually, Marathon Digital (MARA), CleanSpark (CLSK) and Iris Energy (IREN) were the only ones that produced more BTC than the prior month. Note the following miners have yet to report their September numbers: Hive Blockchain (HIVE), BitNile (NILE), Argo Blockchain (ARBK) and Greenidge Generation (GREE).
Furthermore, most miners continued to sell their bitcoin (BTC-USD) holdings as capital dried up amid soaring power prices thus shrinking profit margins. During the month, Bitfarms (BITF) sold 544 BTC, Riot (RIOT) sold 300 BTC, CleanSpark (CLSK) sold 380 BTC, and Core Scientific (CORZ) sold 1,576 BTC.
For Bitfarms (BITF), in particular, SA contributor Gary Bourgeault believes the company’s 10% drop in BTC production “may have been an anomaly.”
“The key for BITF through the remainder of 2022 and early into 2023 will be the CPI release,” he added. “If things are shown to improve, high-growth assets are going to attract more investment, and BITF will benefit from that.”
Take a look at the chart here to see how shares of miners have fared in September compared with bitcoin (BTC-USD).
Earlier last week, (Oct. 6) Grayscale launched a new unit to invest in bitcoin mining hardware in the wake of discounted prices.

U.S. Delegation Visits Kyiv Region – Ukrinform https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/u-s-delegation-visits-kyiv-region-ukrinform/
A delegation from the United States of America visited the sites of war crimes committed by Russian troops in Kyiv region.
As the Kyiv region police reported, the foreign delegation inspected the places of mass murders of Ukrainians, residential areas destroyed by the Russian army in Kyiv region. A delegation member, famous host and writer Mitzi Perdue was shocked by the scale of the Russian war crimes, the consequences of the atrocities of the aggressors, and the destruction caused to the Kyiv region.
The foreigners visited the sites of large-scale murderers of civilians by the Russian army in the territory of the Church of Andrew the First-Called, where more than 100 Ukrainians were buried. The delegation also visited the destroyed residential quarter “Irpinski Lypky” and the burnt down training center in Bucha district. The enemy destroyed practically all the buildings there.
Moreover, the delegation visited the police buildings destroyed by the Russians in Kyiv region.
It is noted that the Russian military bombed police stations, smashed cars, destroyed infrastructure and video surveillance systems.
“Law enforcement officers continue to detect and document war crimes committed by the Russian Federation. With joint efforts, we will certainly identify all the guilty who mercilessly tortured and killed the civilian population. Everyone will be taken to court and held to account for their crimes,” said Andrii Nebytov, head of the Kyiv Region Police Department.
The foreign delegation also visited Chornobyl. The town was one of the first to be invaded by the Russians in February. Evidence of the aggressor’s invasion is still visible here.
The U.S. delegation paid special attention to combating human trafficking during martial law. They also discussed the implementation of measures to detect and combat domestic violence.
As reported, Irpin, Bucha, Hostomel and the entire Kyiv region were liberated from the Russian invaders at the beginning of April. Mass destruction and brutal murders of civilians by the Russians were recorded in the liberated towns and villages.

New McKinsey Technology Report Outlines Key Areas Of Opportunity For Media FIPP
New McKinsey Technology Report Outlines Key Areas Of Opportunity For Media – FIPP https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/new-mckinsey-technology-report-outlines-key-areas-of-opportunity-for-media-fipp/
08 October 2022
McKinsey’s 2022 Technology Trends Outlook report has now been published, and it cites some exciting areas of opportunity for the media industry. It found that the media and entertainment sectors at large display a high association with 7 out of 14 key technology trends, across what it defines as both the ‘Silicon Age’ and ‘Engineering Tomorrow’.
These include:
Advanced connectivity
Applied AI
Cloud and edge computing
Immersive-reality technologies
Industrialising machine learning
Trust architectures and digital identity
Web3
The areas of next generation software development, future of mobility, and future of sustainable development, were also cited by the report as displaying a strong association with the media of today – and tomorrow.
Leading the charge into the metaverse…
Immersive-reality technologies and the emergence of Web3 are two key trends that we’ve looked at a lot on the FIPP.com over the past few months.
Earlier this week, Hearst took over the OMNI Gallery in Soho, to launch its new experiential division HearstX. The department will oversee platforms and campaigns across the physical, VR, AR, and mixed experience spaces, with initiatives such as virtual influencers, VirtuELLE Reality fashion shoots, and a fully playable Cosmopolitan world already in place.
The McKinsey report states: ‘The ability to cater to increased data creation and the growth in the number of connected devices for consumers allow for better entertainment experiences as new devices (for example, AR and VR devices) enter the market.’
… and the practical application of NFTs
One emerging technology that has undoubtedly been hotly debated in the media industry to date, is NFTs. While some have dismissed the phenomenon as nothing more than a passing fad, we’ve seen countless examples of mainstream publishers moving into this area with seemingly high levels of success.
Having interviewed a broad range of experts in this area directly ourselves over the past 18 months, its clear that there is at least one broad consensus on non-fungibles: while today’s headline hype may not necessarily be here forever, the underlying technologies – and opportunities for digital monetisation they represent – are not going anywhere anytime soon.
It’s a reality that the latest McKinsey report underlines, from both a consumer and B2B pov:
‘Web3 enables interoperable games and tokenized digital assets,’ says the report, ‘facilitating new gaming experiences and play-and-earn business models in which in-game rewards (for example, nonfungible tokens [NFTs], governance tokens) are distributed with different utilities.’
‘Creation and ownership of digital media (for example, artworks, video content)—sold as NFTs—allow new business models and creative possibilities while providing artists with more control and, in some cases, ongoing perpetual royalties.
There are additional insights into streaming, personalisation, and the evolving nature of events, and you can access the report in full here.

The 20 Best Places To Visit In Alaska – Moneyinc https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/the-20-best-places-to-visit-in-alaska-moneyinc/
Many people’s first associations with Alaska are extreme cold, gloomy skies, and mountains of powdery snow. However, Alaska is the place to go if you’re seeking adventure. In this enormous, rocky state, one can find some of North America’s most stunning and varied scenery. The state of Alaska is known for its untamed beauty, unique wildlife, and quaint beach communities, to name just a few attractions. This far-off paradise is a delight for those willing to travel there because many destinations are only reachable by plane or water.
Beautiful glaciers, a thriving Native American culture, and incredible vistas of the aurora borealis will be your reward. Aside from being the country’s largest state, Alaska also boasts stunning natural beauty, rare and fascinating fauna, and a rich cultural heritage that most Americans are unfamiliar with. So, here are the 20 best places to visit in Alaska.
20. The Northern Lights and Chena Hot Springs
A trip to Chena Hot Springs with the Northern Lights epitomizes what the Arctic is all about. Visitors on this exclusive tour have the chance to soak in Fairbanks’s soothing natural hot springs before setting out in a small group to search for the Northern Lights with a knowledgeable guide. Although the guides can’t promise it, traveling with an expert hunter gives you the best chance to see the Northern Lights! According to Via Travelers, this is one of the best spots to visit in Alaska because of the Northern Lights, which offer unparalleled beauty.
19. Homer
As the self-proclaimed “Halibut Fishing Capital of the World,” Homer offers some of the finest sportfishing in all of Alaska. The coal industry was the original impetus for the development of this charming community. There’s a good reason it’s regarded as one of Alaska’s top tourist destinations. Although sportfishing has made Homer famous worldwide, the city also offers various other exciting activities. Popular activities and attractions in Alaska include bear viewing tours, destination weddings, and kayaking. One of “America’s Best Small Art Towns,” the scenic location is renowned for its creative atmosphere. Visit one of the twelve exquisite art galleries in the Homer area.
18. Lake Clark National Park and Preserve
The stunning Lake Clark National Park and Preserve exhibits a variety of Alaskan landscapes all in one place. Lake Clark, 100 miles south of Anchorage, is surrounded by alpine tundras, glacier lakes, two volcanoes, and rushing rivers. The most recent eruption of the 10,000-foot Mountain Redoubt occurred only in 1989. Lake Clark can only be reached by air or sea, like other isolated regions of Alaska. A native brown bear hunting for salmon in one of the lakes can be seen from the air on a scenic bear flight between May and September.
17. Columbia Glacier
The Columbia glacier is easily accessible by boat from the Valdez harbor in Prince William Sound. The glacier’s thickness reaches 550 meters at its thickest, spreading across an area of 400 square kilometers. It starts in the Chugach Mountains and travels for 32 kilometers until arriving at Columbia Bay. Since 1982, this beautiful glacier’s retreat has been dramatic, with daily ice losses of 13 million tons. Some of the calving chunks are so large that they threaten the tourist boats that have come to see the event. The face of the glacier can reach heights of up to 400 feet. This would be such a treat for one to be part of.
16. The White Pass & Yukon Route Railway
The gold rush to the Klondike is an essential chapter in Alaska’s story. A remnant of the era is the White Pass and Yukon Route Railway. The Skagway–Fraser–Carcross–Whitehorse Narrow Gauge Railroad was initially constructed for the mining industry. According to Getting Stamped, passengers take in breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape as they travel over trestles, tunnels, mountains, and glaciers. To ride the rails here is to have a one-of-a-kind encounter with the Alaskan landscape and engineering, as the railroad itself is a National Historic Civil Engineering Landmark.
15. Kenai Fjords National Park
In the vicinity of Seward, the Kenai Fjords region offers 607,000 acres of snow, ice, long fjords, calm bays, and coves. It also has a variety of animals, such as sea otters, black bears, harbor seals, mountain goats, and coyotes. The park’s main treasure, the enormous 936-square-mile Harding Icefield, lines the perimeter of the snow- and ice-covered 60 percent of the area. It sustains about 30 glaciers that flow from the mountains as a relic of the enormous ice sheet that once blanketed much of Alaska during the Pleistocene era. There are other activities such as camping, biking, kayaking, and flightseeing that one can participate in.
14. Nome
Nome was established in 1888 and was primarily a community for gold miners. Movie makers “liked” it here in this city to create movies. The full-length animated film “Balto” was inspired by the diphtheria outbreak in Nome in 1925. The most prestigious dog sled racing in the world, the Iditarod, is held in the city every year to honor the 1925 Great Race of Mercy. Nome is a challenging destination because of its frigid climate and distant location. However, it is among Alaska’s most stunning sites to visit!
13. Alaska Highway
The 1,500-mile-long, open Alaska Highway connects Delta Junction in Alaska with Dawson Creek in British Columbia. In just eight months, it was excavated from rock and dense forests. You will pass by the most beautiful natural reserves in Canada and the U.S. as you travel along Alaska Highway. Your drive will be spectacular as you get to appreciate nature as the journey continues.
12. Kennecott Ghost Town
The country’s wealthiest copper mining town at one time was Kennecott. It has less than a dozen regular residents today, leaving it virtually entirely deserted. Before the copper reserves were depleted, the copper mine had been operating for 27 years. Visitors can now explore the ghost town’s eerie silence in its stunning location deep within the Alaskan wilderness. You will have a magnificent hike as you get to this location, which can only be accessible on foot.
11. Glacier Bay National Park
The voyage may be difficult (there is no road access into or out of the park), but Glacier Bay National Park and Preserve is so breathtaking that it is well worth it. West of Juneau, there is a national park that UNESCO has recognized as a World Heritage Site. According to Travel U.S. News, this is home to over 3 million acres of narrow fjords, temperate rainforest, and magnificent tidewater glaciers. Though you’ll most likely see Glacier Bay from the comfort of a cruise ship, you might want to explore going even closer to nature with a sea kayaking excursion and then spending the night in the stars in Bartlett Cove.
10. Wrangell St. Elias National Park
The huge Wrangell St. Elias National Park, which is the biggest national park in the U.S., is located in the center of this kingdom. While there are several educational tourist facilities and ranger stations within the park, it’s also simple to travel off the beaten path and discover glacier hiking paths or overnight camping excursions. In addition, there are activities like hunting, mountain biking, fishing, and kayaking.
9. Ketchikan
This picturesque village on the southern edge of Alaska’s Inside Passage is a great entry point into the Alaskan indigenous culture since it has more totem poles than any other place on earth. Explore the Misty Fjords National Monument after walking down historic Creek Street, which was once Ketchikan’s brothel quarter. This magnificent area of the Alaskan wilderness, covered in a thick rainforest, is best experienced from the air in a floatplane or on a boat excursion.
8. Skagway
The little town of Skagway, which draws over a million visitors annually, is a worthy stop on any itinerary for Alaska. The town’s central historic district is its main draw, with more than 100 different structures dating back to the Klondike Gold Rush era. According to Planet Ware, The neighboring Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Museum is another place where you may learn more about the town’s importance. This is a beautiful place for historical enthusiasts to spend their day.
7. Kodiak
Kodiak, the largest island in Alaska and the second-largest island in the United States, is home to several fascinating attractions, making it one of the top places to visit in Alaska. Kodiak Island, often referred to as the Emerald Isle, is home to many breathtakingly beautiful landscapes that draw hordes of nature lovers. As the ferries that travel the Alaskan Marine Highway dock just outside of downtown, Kodiak is a waterfront harbor town.
The Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge encases two-thirds of Kodiak Island and is the area’s most well-known attraction. This park comprises two thousand eight hundred twelve square kilometers of diverse habitat. Mountain peaks, alpine meadows, ponds, spruce woods, and grasslands can all be seen on Kodiak Island. About 3,500 brown bears live in the Kodiak National Wildlife Refuge, typically weighing between 800 and 1,500 pounds.
6. Seward
Seward, a picturesque port city, is situated in a prime location between Mount Marathon and the Gulf of Alaska. Seward is one of the most magnificent tourist destinations because of the contrast between the snow-capped mountains and the glistening rivers and glaciers. Two of the most well-liked activities in Seward are wildlife viewing and glacier cruises. Numerous indigenous animals, including sea lions, puffins, and even whales, call Resurrection Bay home. Tourists may explore this gorgeous city from above with flightseeing and helicopter tours.

LITTLE ROCK — A team of Arkansas 4-H members celebrated National 4-H Week by competing in the National 4-H Food Challenge finals and returning home with a sixth-place win.
Adelene Westfall, Sarah Lamb, and Christian Trombley— competing as the “Seniors with Spatulas” — competed against 10 other teams from Georgia, Florida, Kentucky, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Texas and Wyoming at the competition, held Oct. 4 at the Texas State Fair in Dallas.
The Arkansas youth are members of the Howard County Teen Leader Club and longtime members of Arkansas 4-H. Westfall and Lamb, who attend Nashville High School, were part of the 2021 team that placed fifth at nationals last year. Trombley, a homeschooled student, joined the team this year. To qualify for the national competition, the teens won the Arkansas 4-H Food Challenge in August.
“I’m super proud of them,” said Howard County Extension Agent Jean Ince, who coached the team and accompanied them to the competition. “They have all been cooking for a long time and still they learned so much.”
Although they had hoped to win top honors, the trio felt good about their performance.
“Our dish was good, and we did a good presentation,” Lamb said.
“We knew so much more this year than last year,” Westfall added. “We felt really good going into their competition.”
The Food Challenge not only tests participants’ cooking skills, but also their knowledge about nutrition, health and food safety and their ability to effectively communicate as a team. During the competition, the teams had 40 minutes to prepare a dish using the main ingredient — which wasn’t unveiled until the start of the competition.
After plating their dish, teams had five minutes to present their dish to judges and discuss food preparation, safety concerns, serving size information, cost analysis and nutritional information. Judges considered appearance, quality, creativity, effective communication and teamwork when scoring.
For the past two months, the team has met weekly to practice their skills using different ingredients from the four groups: protein, grains, dairy, fruits and vegetables.
Mystery ingredients
White beans were the star of the preliminary round. The Arkansas team created a soup using the canned beans, chicken broth, shredded chicken, cheese, chives, cumin and salt and garnished with tomato. Judges liked their soup well enough to advance the team to the final round where they were tasked with cooking with fresh mushrooms. The team created a Mediterranean-inspired dish using couscous, mushrooms, feta and vegetables.
“I felt confident coming out of second round because we had worked with couscous and mushrooms before,” Westfall said. “We had previously made a recipe with eggplant and couscous, and when we saw there was couscous available, we swapped the eggplant for mushrooms.”
Division of labor
The teens spent the past few months practicing both their culinary skills and how to work as a team. Each had a defined role. Lamb — who her teammates call the ‘boss lady’ — took the lead in the recipe development and decided the menu with team input.
“My goal is always to have a bright, colorful, good-looking dish,” she said.
Lamb frequently cooks for her family, competes in BBQ competitions and hopes to own a bakery one day.
Trombley — the team’s ‘wingman’ — functioned as the sous chef, chopping and mincing ingredients, prepping the work space and ensuring food safety.
Westfall, a 4-H Ambassador and member of the state Healthy Living team, is considered the team’s scribe. She meticulously recorded the ingredients, proportions, nutritional content, serving size and notes needed for the team’s presentation to judges.
Skills for a lifetime
Healthy living is one of tenets of the 4-H program, which offers programs in nutrition, fitness, substance abuse, safety and social and emotional wellness.
“We strive to equip young people with healthy living knowledge and skills to physically, emotionally, and socially prepare them to meet today’s challenges,” said Amanda Welch, a 4-H youth development associate for the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture. Welch coordinates the statewide 4-H Food Challenge.
Last year, Arkansas 4-H applied for and received a Healthy Habits grants from the National 4-H Council and Wal-Mart Foundation.
“Most of the grant money went to counties to use for healthy living programs,” Welch said. “Howard County used grant money to purchase cooking utensils and supplies required for the competition.”
The teens all said they enjoyed the experience. For Trombley, it was because of the “friendship and teamwork.” Lamb said she is more comfortable with public speaking because of the competition, and Westfall, who memorized nutritional value of foods for the competition, said that information will continue to help her.
“I’ve learned so much about our bodies and what they need to function that I never would’ve thought about before this challenge,” Westfall said. “It’s taught me a lot that I can use to improve my health and my family’s.”
4-H is the premier youth development program of the University of Arkansas System Division of Agriculture Cooperative Extension Service. Programs are offered in every county in Arkansas. To learn more about 4-H, contact your local Cooperative Extension Service agent or visit www.uaex.uada.edu. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram at @AR_Extension.

Trading punts
Well, Tennessee got out from the shadow of its own goal-line, but the Volunteers can’t generate much more. They punt midway through the third quarter, giving the football back to LSU in what is still just a three-possession game. The Tigers are just one TD and two-point conversion away from totally changing the vibe in this game. Don’t forget Tennessee nearly squandered a three-possession lead against Florida two weeks ago.

Daniels sacked again
Tennessee is having a field day rushing Jayden Daniels. The Volunteers sacked him on third down there with just a four-man rush. That was a listless drive to open the second half for LSU, though a 66-yard punt from Jay Bramblett will put Tennessee back against its own goal-line. Tigers need a momentum swing here. Turnover, safety, something of that of that ilk. 30-7 game.

Touchdown Tennessee
The Volunteers begin the third quarter with a 76-yard drive on nine plays. Hendon Hooker capped it with a 14-yard touchdown pass to Jaylin Hyatt over the middle. That’s Hyatt’s second touchdown drive of the day. Hooker’s 26-yard QB draw and a 2-yard pickup from Jabari Small on third-and-1 were the big plays on that drive. 30-7 now. LSU’s back is against the wall.

LSU’s offensive line
It seems like a problem with left tackle Will Campbell out due to dehydration and left guard Garrett Dellinger out for the game after a first half injury, the Tigers are struggling to protect Jayden Daniels. LSU was also one-dimensional in the first half with Williams and Emery totaling 11 yards on 9 carries. Tennessee’s pass defense has been as shaky as advertised, but the Vols have been successful when blitzing.

First half recap
Hendon Hooker completed just three of his final 10 passes in the first half, but the last one to Bru McCoy set Tennessee up for a 32-yard field goal on the final play of the half. It appeared for a moment as though LSU might cut into a 20-7 deficit before half. But after Daniels took a sack on fourth down, the Volunteers quickly flipped that notion and scored points of their own.

Missed field goal
Tennessee faced a fourth-and-6 and a decision of what to do with a minute left in the half. The Vols opted for a 50-yard field goal attempt and it clangs off the upright. Tigers get some momentum and the football with the time and field position to engineer a score before the half.

LSU finally scores
Jayden Daniels found Mason Taylor for a 17-yard strike over the middle on a third-and-long to set the Tigers up inside the 1-yard line. From there, Josh Williams punched it in to finally get LSU on the board. 20-7 with 3:05 left in the half. Huge drive and a particularly huge throw from Daniels. Believe it or not, LSU has an edge in total yards now after that 96-yard drive.

LSU driving
The Tigers are moving the football yet again and gaining some momentum with the help of a couple Tennessee penalties. Brian Kelly is mad about something on the sideline, however. Huge sequence here for LSU since Tennessee gets the ball to start the second half.

Tennessee stalls
After picking up a big fourth down conversion in LSU territory, Tennessee’s high-powered attack suddenly stalled with three consecutive incompletions. Uncharacteristic, but a huge stop for the Tigers, who will take over inside their own 5-yard line trailing 20-0 with 8:19 left in the first half.

Fourth down
Fourth downs haven’t been kind to LSU so far in this game, and now it’s the Tigers’ defense facing a big one as the Volunteers call timeout to discuss a fourth-and-2 from LSU’s 43. Tigers just came up with a huge sack from Greg Brooks Jr. on third down, but the Vols were lucky that Hooker’s fumble on the play was scooped up by running back Dylan Sampson, who ran it for a gain of two yards.
Update: Tennesse converts with a shovel pass

Another blunder
LSU’s offense is moving the football pretty well, but the Tigers can’t stop hurting themselves once they get in position to score. Jayden Daniels just took a sack that pushed the Tigers out of field goal range and into a fourth-and-12. Even an incompletion there would have made going for it somewhat practical. Instead, it leads to a punt that results in a touchback. Volunteers get it back leading 20-0.

Garrett Dellinger down
LSU is already without its starting left tackle today and just had another offensive lineman, Garrett Dellinger, helped off the field. The Tigers are struggling in the run game as it is and may be challenged even more depending on the severity of Dellinger’s issue.

Apples CEO Bashes The Metaverse And Nvidias CEO Embraces It: What It Means For Investors The Motley Fool
Apple’s CEO Bashes The Metaverse, And Nvidia’s CEO Embraces It: What It Means For Investors – The Motley Fool https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/apples-ceo-bashes-the-metaverse-and-nvidias-ceo-embraces-it-what-it-means-for-investors-the-motley-fool/
On a recent trip to Europe, Apple (AAPL -3.67%) CEO Tim Cook spoke with Dutch online media company Bright to discuss the future of technology. In the interview, Cook downplayed the metaverse, instead touting Apple’s focus on augmented reality (AR). Cook said that one day, we will all “look back and think about how we once lived without AR.”
Meanwhile, Nvidia (NVDA -8.03%) spent an entire week at its biannual GTC event for tech developers, and the metaverse consumed a large amount of the time. In fact, CEO Jensen Huang talks about the metaverse a lot, and how it will shape the future.
What in the name of metaverse originator Neal Stephenson is going on here? These debates about what the metaverse actually is and what it will do are becoming silly. Not to mention confusing for investors, let alone the everyday consumer, who is already overwhelmed by the rapid changes the world has undergone in the last few years.
What is the metaverse anyway?
If you do a web search for “What is the metaverse?” you’ll get as many variations on the answer as the times you click on an article (including one from yours truly). But let’s let Jensen Huang settle it once and for all. In his keynote address at GTC 2022, he provided perhaps the simplest and most elegant definition to date: The metaverse is “the 3D internet.”
I really appreciate this description. Rather than trying to reinforce this notion that the metaverse is confusing and that no one wants it (like Cook did in the above-mentioned interview), Huang breaks it down into simple terms. If some web-based service or app you use has a three-dimensional element to it, let’s just call it “the metaverse.”
Cook’s comments about AR are perhaps the best clue we have that Apple is readying some sort of device, perhaps AR or virtual reality (VR) headsets (maybe — there’ll be an announcement in 2023). But if we view the metaverse through Huang’s simple take, Apple is getting involved with the metaverse, too, whether it likes it or not. AR and VR applications will be web-based, and many AR apps are already available on the Apple App Store. I’m calling it like I see it: Apple Metaverse.
It’s all marketing! Elementary, my dear Watson.
If you’re still with me, let’s turn to this question: Why all the tech CEO disagreements on what the metaverse is and what kind of future it will have? If the metaverse is just a 3D representation of the internet, a technology we all use every day and absolutely can agree has a well-established definition, why jockey for attention by bashing it? Or hype the metaverse like it’s this brand-new shiny thing that’s being built from scratch?
It’s simple: marketing.
Like any good “walled garden” business, Apple has a vested interest in putting down other companies’ technology efforts while championing its own. After all, why would Apple use such a term when Meta (META -4.04%), formerly Facebook, literally changed its name to a contracted form of “metaverse” to indicate its 3D web app future? Apple has gone to great lengths to try to weaken Meta’s (ahem, Facebook’s) hold on its iPhone users’ data.
In contrast, like any good “platform” business model that helps others build tech for themselves, Huang is being inclusive and touting how the metaverse can mean different things for different consumers and businesses. Thus the term “Omniverse” for its new cloud-based collaboration and development apps.
If you’re a video game company, the metaverse might mean an immersive 3D game. If you’re a manufacturing company, the metaverse might mean a virtual re-creation of your factory used for planning purposes. And if you’re a medical college, the metaverse might mean an AR app that trains students how to practice medicine.
Someday, hopefully soon, we can all agree to call the 3D extension of the internet the same thing. Maybe it will be “the metaverse,” maybe it will be something else (like “3D internet,” or, I dunno, maybe just “the internet”).
But one thing is for sure: This thing we’re discussing is already here, and new capabilities using 3D virtual content are being developed. Any differences you hear in what all this is and what it means from various CEOs’ perspectives is simply marketing to get us all ready to buy into it.
Now it’s time for you, the investor, to decide which businesses you like best to capitalize on 3D virtualization. I, for one, think Apple and Nvidia both are pretty good bets.

India Releases 50-Page CBDC Report Good Or Bad For The Countrys Crypto? Bitcoinist
India Releases 50-Page CBDC Report – Good Or Bad For The Country’s Crypto? – Bitcoinist https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/india-releases-50-page-cbdc-report-good-or-bad-for-the-countrys-crypto-bitcoinist/
The CBDC report published by India’s central bank may not be good news for the Indian cryptocurrency market.
Crypto was such a hit in India in 2021 that it made the country the fastest growing market for the asset class, surpassing the MENA region and even Europe.
At one point, the country’s market jumped by 641% in just 12 months and was projected to surge even more.
But everything changed in April this year as the government of India started to tighten its grip on crypto, imposing tax on transactions involving the asset which led to the collapse of local exchanges.
Some thought this might have something to do with the nation’s plan to eventually have its own CBDC.
Country officials said the move was made to provide a window for the formalization of cryptocurrencies but what it accomplished so far is to make crypto trading in India insanely expensive.
But it turns out, the country is just starting to pound on digital assets and the Reserve Bank of India might just deliver the finishing blow.
Reserve Bank of India Eyes CBDC
It is no secret that the Reserve Bank of India has been eyeing to launch a project for its CBDC – a development which has now been confirmed by the bank’s FinTech Department report released on October 7.
Both retail and wholesale variants of the CBDC is being considered by the financial institution for consumers and businesses as well as interbank and wholesale transfers.
The report provided an insight as to how the process will unfold, starting with the building of the currency by technological partners selected by a working group.
Once the CBDC is ready, it will be tested in a sandbox environment and will be exposed to stressful situations. The functionality and overall design of the digital currency will be assessed.
If the designed CBDC passes all the testing, a pilot release will then follow.
An Apparent Aversion To Cryptocurrencies
For the development of both retail and wholesale variant of the CBDC, the RBI is making sure it can properly identify its owners or holders, much like the physical fiat money.
This move seems to attack one of the selling points and advantages of digital currencies like Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, among many others – privacy.
Moreover, as the government recently imposed hefty taxes on crypto transactions in India, people there will be put into a position to instinctively choose the CBDC in order to avoid the taxes.
“It is the responsibility of central bank to provide its citizens with a risk-free CBDC which will provide the users the same experience of dealing in currency in digital form, without any risks associated with private cryptocurrencies,” the RBI said in quotes by Reuters.
India might not have made the move to ban cryptocurrencies altogether, but the CBDC report might be an indication that the country is slowly shutting the door on digital currencies not issued by its government.

N. Korea Launches Missile Toward Sea After US-S. Korea Drills KAIT
N. Korea Launches Missile Toward Sea After US-S. Korea Drills – KAIT https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/n-korea-launches-missile-toward-sea-after-us-s-korea-drills-kait/
SEOUL, South Korea (AP) — The South Korean military said North Korea fired a ballistic missile toward its eastern waters on Sunday, the latest in the country’s barrage of weapons tests in recent days.
South Korea’s Joint Chiefs of Staff said in a statement the launch occurred early Sunday but gave no further details, including how far the weapon may have flown.
The Japanese government also said North Korea fired what was a possible ballistic missile.
The Japanese coast guard said it has warned ships around the country’s coasts about falling objects and urged them to stay away.
The launch, the North’s sixth round of weapons tests in two weeks, came hours after the United States and South Korea wrapped a new round of naval drills off the Korean Peninsula’s east coast. The drills involved a U.S. aircraft carrier.
North Korea’s military warned Saturday that the U.S. redeployment of the aircraft carrier near the Korean Peninsula is causing a “considerably huge negative splash” in regional security, as it defended its recent missile tests as a “righteous reaction” to intimidating military drills between its rivals.
The North Korean Defense Ministry statement came a day after the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Ronald Reagan began naval drills with South Korean warships. The Reagan and its battle group returned to the area after North Korea fired a powerful missile over Japan earlier this week to protest the carrier group’s previous training with South Korea.
North Korea regards U.S.-South Korean military exercises as an invasion rehearsal and is especially sensitive if such drills involve U.S. strategic assets like an aircraft carrier. North Korea has argued it was forced to pursue a nuclear weapons program to cope with U.S. nuclear threats. U.S. and South Korean officials have repeatedly said they have no intentions of attacking the North.
In the past two weeks, North Korea has fired 10 ballistic missiles into the sea in five launch events, adding to its record-breaking pace of weapons tests this year. The recent weapons tests include a nuclear-capable missile that flew over Japan for the first time in five years and demonstrated a range to strike the U.S. Pacific territory of Guam and beyond.
Earlier this year, North Korea tested other nuclear-capable ballistic missiles that place the U.S. mainland and its allies South Korea and Japan within striking distance.
North Korea’s testing spree indicates its leader, Kim Jong Un, has no intention of resuming diplomacy with the U.S. and wants to focus on expanding his weapons arsenal. But some experts say Kim would eventually aim to use his advanced nuclear program to wrest greater outside concessions, such as the recognition of North Korea as a legitimate nuclear state, which Kim thinks is essential in getting crippling U.N. sanctions on his country lifted.
The Reagan carrier group’s latest training with the South Korean navy is to end on Saturday.
South Korean officials recently said North Korea was also prepared to test a new liquid-fueled intercontinental ballistic missile and a submarine-launched ballistic missile while maintaining readiness to perform its first underground nuclear test since 2017.

End Of Legal Limbo For US Big Tech In Europe With New Data Framework WION
End Of Legal Limbo For US Big Tech In Europe With New Data Framework – WION https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/end-of-legal-limbo-for-us-big-tech-in-europe-with-new-data-framework-wion/
On Friday, US President Joe Biden signed an executive order intended to allay European fears about US surveillance and guarantee the privacy of personal data flows between the EU and the US.
According to the White House, the executive order establishes a new legal framework for transatlantic data transfers, which are vital to the digital economy.
The action taken by Biden is the most recent attempt to put an end to years’ worth of court fights in which European campaigners had questioned the validity of the data transfers and threatened to shut down US Big Tech’s activities in the EU.
“This is a culmination of our joint efforts to restore trust and stability to transatlantic data flows,” Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo told reporters.
“It will enable a continued flow of data that underpins more than a trillion dollars in cross-border trade and investment every year.”
Although authorities in Brussels cautioned that the presidential order was simply the beginning of a process that may take months to negotiate a new data pact, EU Justice Commissioner Didier Reynders praised the executive order as a “significant step.”

EU privacy campaigners have filed many cases against US tech firms because they are concerned about US intelligence services’ access to the personal information of Europeans who use Facebook or Google for their online requirements.
After hearing accusations that US regulations infringe the basic rights of EU people, Europe’s top court nullified earlier agreements, often known as equivalency deals.
The executive order, according to the White House, resolves issues that the Court of Justice of the European Union identified when it determined that the earlier Privacy Shield structure did not offer sufficient security.

Hyperspace Defines The Future Of Identity In The Metaverse With 3D Avatars – Digital Journal https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/hyperspace-defines-the-future-of-identity-in-the-metaverse-with-3d-avatars-digital-journal/
Phoenix, Arizona, United States, 8th Oct 2022, King NewsWire, Hyperspace, an intuitive, drag-and-drop “no code” metaverse platform, is shaping the future of identity in the metaverse with 3D avatars. The user-friendly Hyperspace platform uses a proprietary technology called Universal Avatars to power their 3D avatars and users’ metaverse identities that can be used throughout various virtual worlds and websites. Universal Avatars are optimized to perform at scale so thousands of Avatars can visit the same virtual places.
The system, which does not require any specific device or software download, allows users to sign in using an email and password, a LinkedIn account, or what’s known in enterprise, government and education as – SSO (single sign-on) option. This means that users can sign in with credentials from their organization with their identity attached to their avatar, allowing them to take that avatar to meetings, a series of virtual events from different organizations, immersive training experiences, or anywhere else within the metaverse. The avatars can also be used for AI chatbots and customer service support purposes.
Hyperspace avatars are completely customizable, with over one billion style combinations. Users can choose their avatar’s physical appearance, clothing, movement, embodiment, and lifelike gestures and expressions. The customizable 3D avatars help create a sense of co-presence, which allows for shared experiences that can lead to a sense of community, and belonging. Lifelike gestures and postures such as hugs, high-fives, and handshakes that accompany the 3D avatar help with self-expression and allow more meaningful engagement beyond simple emojis.
“As virtual worlds become more popular, there has been a lot of discussion about what type of identity to use in these virtual spaces. In a continuously increasing digital world, we’re craving connection and personality. We want to see people in a real-life context. It’s meaningful—and that’s exactly what 3D avatars offer. They allow your audience to completely immerse themselves in your world. And it all starts with customizations, options to personalize it and make it truly their own. Hyperspace has created a form of identity expression in the metaverse unlike any other,” stated Danny Stefanic, CEO of Hyperspace.
“Using Universal Avatars, you can take your identity everywhere, across experiences. I believe that is really important for creating a truly interconnected metaverse that allows your digital twin to seamlessly interact with people, places and things in the virtual realm. These unique, customizable 3D Avatars can be used to fully enhance presence within the metaverse, especially during virtual events, learning and development training, meet-ups, support and sales, and even medical and patient care,” added Stefanic.
Hyperspace gives metaverse users the ability to accelerate their business into the metaverse and drive deeper connections through shared immersive experiences. The intuitive platform can be used for events, training, marketing, or remote work. The Universal Avatars will allow users to fully take charge of their identities when in the metaverse and customize their Avatar with job specific clothing options, hair, makeup, and more. With the 3D avatars from Hyperspace, metaverse users can take digital communication and identity to the next level with the ability to convey verbal and nonverbal communication with their digital twins.A high degree of customizability allows attendees to create 3D avatars representing who they are and how they self-identify.
