The Justice Department is seeking to nullify an alliance between JetBlue and American in the Northeast.Credit…Stefani Reynolds for The New York Times Sept. 27, 2022, 3:00 a.m. ET A Justice Department effort to break up an alliance between American Airlines and JetBlue Airways is set to go to trial in Boston on Tuesday morning, part of a broad Biden administration push to aggressively enforce antitrust rules and promote economic competition. Under the partnership, announced in 2020 and referred to as the Northeast Alliance, American and JetBlue joined forces in Boston and New York. In those cities, the airlines share some revenue and access to airport gates and allow customers to buy trips and take part in loyalty programs at the airlines interchangeably. American, the world’s largest airline by market share, and JetBlue say the alliance helps them to compete against the dominant carriers in those cities, United Airlines and Delta Air Lines. The Justice Department sued last year to stop the partnership, arguing that it is effectively a partial merger and reduces competition. “This case is straightforward,” the Justice Department wrote this month in a legal brief describing its arguments. Referring to the alliance, it added: “The NEA eliminates competition between the largest airline in the world and a disruptive competitor on flights to and from Boston and New York. It deprives the public of the benefits that the rivalry has brought to passengers for two decades.” In July, President Biden called out airlines in a sweeping executive order promoting economic competition, arguing that the industry had become too top-heavy. Led by American, the nation’s four largest airlines control two-thirds of the domestic market, according to Transportation Department data. Alaska Airlines is a distant fifth, followed closely by JetBlue. At the time, Mr. Biden asked the Transportation Department to consider new rules requiring airlines to issue refunds when services aren’t provided and to clearly disclose fees to consumers. The department has proposed rules on refunds since then and, on Monday, proposed another on fee disclosures. The Boston trial, scheduled to last about three weeks, builds on that administration effort to counter the effects of consolidation. Each side will make its case in U.S. District Court before Judge Leo T. Sorokin, whose decision could come weeks or even months after the trial concludes. Top executives from both airlines are expected to testify, as are a handful of economists. JetBlue’s chief executive, Robin Hayes, is expected to be the first witness. The Justice Department plans to argue that the airline alliance eliminates competition in an industry that became heavily concentrated after a series of mergers in the 2000s and early 2010s. The alliance neutralizes the otherwise fierce competition between American and JetBlue in Boston and New York, the government argued in the brief this month. It also blurs the line between the airlines and severely hinders competition in dozens of markets domestically and between London and the United States, the Justice Department said. American and JetBlue account for more than 85 percent of all revenue earned from flights between Boston and Phoenix, Rochester, N.Y., Charlotte, N.C., Philadelphia and Washington National Airport, the government said. The airlines also have a claim to more than half of all revenue earned from flights between New York and Los Angeles, Miami, Orlando, Fla., West Palm Beach, Fla., and Phoenix. According to one estimate, the alliance could cost travelers as much as $700 million, federal prosecutors said. The airlines reject that argument and plan to make the case that over the year and a half that the partnership has been in place, it has neither limited competition nor increased prices. In fact, they say, the alliance has yielded some consumer benefits. “Considering that there is no evidence of adverse effects, the NEA has been all upside for traveling consumers,” the airlines said in a legal filing this month. American and JetBlue said they had increased travel options by introducing dozens of new nonstop routes, trading out smaller planes for larger ones with more seats and offering customers more flight options and more ways to use and earn loyalty rewards. The airlines also noted that United and Delta are formidable forces in both Boston and New York, making it difficult for America and JetBlue to grow. And they rejected the government’s contention that the tie-up amounts to a merger. Under their deal, the airlines agreed not to coordinate on pricing, aircraft fleet plans or flight capacity. JetBlue is separately facing federal antitrust scrutiny over a proposed $3.8 billion merger with Spirit Airlines, which will be put to a vote among JetBlue’s shareholders next month.

If your screen isn’t designed or optimised for gaming, then you’ll be limited by its capabilities. While picking up a good monitor for gaming is essential, it can be a significant investment – especially if you want to take the really high-end option. This offer is only available until 29 September, so the clock is ticking down. There are a few important things you should consider before buying a monitor. Depending on the type of games you play, having a monitor with a low refresh rate and a high response time is going to do you more harm than good. If you’re someone who plays a lot of fast, action games, like Halo Infinite or Call of Duty, having a monitor with a refresh rate around or above 144Hz and a response time that’s below 1ms is ideal. You can check out the list of Dell gaming monitor deals below. The best Dell gaming monitor deals Dell 34″ WQHD Curved Gaming Monitor (S3422DWG) – now $539.40 (down from $899) Image: Dell Looking for a larger screen and don’t mind if it’s curved? World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27th. Here’s a style guide to ensure your trip is all about caring for the environment World Tourism Day is celebrated on September 27th every year, where awareness is created about the importance of tourism and the impact it has on the country. Tourism is a big boost to the economy and also introduces tourists to various cultures and people. Packing for a vacation or a quick getaway to your favourite city, comes with a to-do list. Especially, when the city you are travelling to has a different climate. Therefore, it is important that you do your research on what works best when it comes to clothing and accessories. Be kind and rewind this World Tourism Day. Pick outfits that are sustainable and eco-friendly. With the boom in travel goals on social media, you can take inspiration from your favourite travel influencers and check out what they have been adorning on their respective travels. However, it is all about keeping it comfortable, sustainable, and eco-friendly this World Tourism Day. It’s time we put our planet first and be kind to the environment. Here’s how you can spread happiness wherever you go, but in a sustainable and eco-friendly way: The House of Fett’s pink skater dress is versatile and can be worn across your travels and regular day out too. SILHOUETTES: Sustainable and eco-friendly doesn’t mean it has to be boring. There are a lot of homegrown responsible fashion brands such as House of Fett, No Nasties, Antaratma, Hibiscus Heroes, The Summer House, to name a few working towards making sustainability a fashion statement. The silhouettes, patterns and colours are travel friendly. Pick from an array of co-ord sets, skater dresses, to comfortable swimwear to make your next trip a fashionable one. Take a break and relax on your vacation in Antaratma’s lounge set made from hemp fabric. FABRIC: It’s important that the fabric you pick for your travel fashion should be easy breezy and super comfortable. You don’t want to wear outfits where the fabric either leaves you with itchy skin or makes you sweat throughout the trip. Go for attires made from fabrics such as hemp, organic cotton, khadi, linen, to name a few.  Also pick fabrics that are light in weight and do not add those extra kilos to your luggage. The planet-friendly tote bag from No Nasties features zippers free of nickel and lead and is made with mid-weight organic cotton canvas. BAG: Travelling also means carrying essentials while on the go. Sometimes your handbag cannot hold everything, so get a large bag made from eco-friendly fabrics. Go for upcycled, recycled and planet-friendly bags that are not just handy but also kind to the environment. Experiment with prints and colours derived from natural dyes. Actor Aamna Sharif channels her inner diva in this stylish wave hair band from Flirtatious. ACCESSORY: Travel fashion goals are incomplete without the right accessories. Pick your favourite straw hat or a funky hair band to add to your stylish look. Sit back and relax on the beach with your favourite accessories keeping you company. For vacays in colder climates, opt for caps and scarves keeping in mind the city’s temperatures. Do not shop for accessories that are only stylish. Also pick function over fashion. The bamboo grass loafers from Solecraft is an ideal choice for all day and all-season wear. FOOTWEAR: Slip into footwear that’s your and nature’s friend. While picking footwear to wear during your travels, opt for shoes, sandals or regular slides that are comfortable. Never wear brand new shoes on trips because you don’t want to end up strolling the city with shoe bites. And last but not the least, air out your shoes after a long day’s walk. Go for footwear which are made from bamboo grass, vegan leather, etc. Read all the Latest Lifestyle News and Breaking News here

Thyroid Cancer Awareness: Ask Your Physician To Check Your Neck – NDTV Doctor https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/thyroid-cancer-awareness-ask-your-physician-to-check-your-neck-ndtv-doctor/ Home »  Living Healthy »  Thyroid Cancer Awareness: Ask Your Physician To Check Your Neck Thyroid Cancer: The four main types of thyroid cancer are papillary thyroid cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, medullary thyroid cancer, and anaplastic thyroid cancer.   By: DoctorNDTV  Updated: Sep 27, 2022 10:22 IST 3-Min Read Thyroid Cancer: Periodic check-ups with a doctor can help identify it at early stages Neetu, a young professional, noticed a small lump on the right side of her neck while getting ready for the office. It was a small, firm, and painless growth. She had no other complaints. Her family physician referred her for an ultrasound of the neck and a few blood investigations. Ultrasound showed growth in the thyroid gland. A needle examination was performed on the growth which revealed that she has developed thyroid cancer. This resulted in anxious moments for Neetu as well as her family members. She underwent thyroid surgery followed by radioactive iodine treatment. 10 years later, she is leading a normal life. The thyroid gland is a butterfly-shaped gland in the neck which weighs around 20 grams. The thyroid gland produces important hormones which control heart rate, metabolism, body temperature, and amount of calcium in the blood. The thyroid gland is made up of two main varieties of cells i.e. follicular cells and para-follicular cells (C cells). Follicular cells secrete thyroxine hormone whereas para-follicular cells secrete calcitonin. What is thyroid cancer? Different types of thyroid cancers Thyroid cancer is cancer developing from the cells in the thyroid gland. Various risk factors for thyroid cancer are exposure to radiation and a family history of thyroid issues. Thyroid cancer affects people of all ages, from young children to the elderly. Thyroid cancer is diagnosed considerably more commonly in women than in men. The four main types of thyroid cancer are papillary thyroid cancer, follicular thyroid cancer, medullary thyroid cancer, and anaplastic thyroid cancer. Papillary thyroid cancer is the most common type of thyroid cancer, accounting for roughly 85 percent of all thyroid cancers. The cure rates for this type of thyroid cancer are high, especially if diagnosed early. Follicular thyroid cancer comprises approximately 10 percent of thyroid cancers which begins in follicular cells and usually grows slowly. This type of cancer is also highly treatable if diagnosed early enough. Medullary thyroid cancer develops from the para-follicular cells (C cells). Nearly everyone with a specific gene mutation develops this rare malignancy. An uncommon and aggressive form of thyroid cancer called anaplastic thyroid carcinoma typically affects those over 60. This type of cancer is challenging to cure and spreads quickly. Increasing incidence of thyroid cancer in India and worldwide The incidence of thyroid cancer is increasing worldwide. As per the data from National Cancer Registry Programme(NCRP) India, the incidence rate of thyroid cancer has shown an increase of 62% and 48% respectively among women and men respectively. The increase in incidence is attributed to rising awareness among the people and the availability of diagnostic modalities leading to early diagnosis.  Warning signs and symptoms Most thyroid cancers present in the form of a small lump/nodule in the neck which is usually firm to hard and generally painless. Some patients may develop hoarseness of voice/difficulty in breathing. No significant weight gain or weight loss is usually noted. A simple neck examination by a medical professional can detect a thyroid nodule. However, 90% of the thyroid nodules are benign and not cancerous. The next investigations ordered are ultrasound of the neck (USG Neck), thyroid function tests (TFTs) followed by needle aspiration i.e. FNAC if required. In some cases, MRI may be ordered for further evaluation. Although a cancer diagnosis of any kind can be scary, the most common forms of thyroid cancer have a very high long-term survival rate (over 90%), especially when diagnosed early. Treatment of thyroid cancers Most thyroid cancers are treated in 2 steps (a) surgery followed by (b) radioactive iodine (Iodine-131) therapy. (a) Surgery Most common surgery performed is total thyroidectomy which means the removal of the entire thyroid gland. Additionally, suspicious lymph nodes of the neck are removed during the surgery. The initial surgery is the most important part of the treatment. (b) Radioactive iodine (iodine-131) therapy Radioactive iodine or iodine-131 is a radioactive medicine that is given to eliminate (ablate) any remaining thyroid cancer cells that could not be removed during surgery. Radioactive iodine therapy significantly reduces the chances of disease recurrence. This treatment is very well tolerated and does not have major long-term side effects. Frustration Evident | News, Sports, Jobs – Evening Observer https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/frustration-evident-news-sports-jobs-evening-observer/ Miami Dolphins safety Jevon Holland (8) sacks Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen (17) causing a fumble during the first half Sunday in Miami Gardens, Fla. AP Photo ORCHARD PARK — Forget the excuses of the Buffalo Bills being undermanned and overheated in the South Florida humidity. If there’s one moment encapsulating the frustration of Buffalo’s first loss of the season, it came via a 7-second CBS video clip showing offensive coordinator Ken Dorsey’s volatile eruption in the visitor’s coaches booth following a 21-19 decision to the Dolphins. Ripping off his headset and violently bouncing it off the desk, Dorsey proceeded to trash his game notes before someone had the wisdom to cover the camera lens with their hand. While Dorsey can no longer laugh off questions about his ultra-competitive reputation, which has been well-documented by players and fellow coaches since ascending to the job this offseason, the Bills must own up to an outcome mostly of their own undoing in a game they dominated Miami in nearly every statistical category. Their defense, minus four regulars and featuring a secondary of rookies and backups, limited the Dolphins to a meager 212 yards and 15 first downs. Buffalo’s offense, despite finishing the game with a piecemeal line, gained 497 yards on a near-franchise record 90 plays from scrimmage. And yet, a series of critical errors cost them. There were mishandled snaps. And a blown coverage, which led to Jalen Waddle’s 45-yard catch — on third-and-22, no less — to set up the go-ahead score. The Bills failed to respond in being thwarted on five snaps from inside the Miami 6. And a holding penalty on backup lineman David Quessenberry with 18 seconds left led to Buffalo not having enough time to make up the ground and attempt a field goal before time expired. As much as the Bills (2-1) deserve credit for showing perseverance, what mostly stood out was a team crumbling in familiar fashion with the outcome on the line. Buffalo can boast having tied the NFL record in winning its past 20 games by 10 or more points. What’s worrisome is how the Bills have dropped eight straight, including playoffs, in games decided by seven points or fewer. The streak is tied for the NFL’s sixth longest since 2010. Those losses include squandering a three-point lead in the final 13 seconds of regulation in an eventual 42-36 overtime loss to Kansas City in the AFC divisional playoff round in January. There was their 14-10 loss to New England last season, in which the Patriots attempted just three passes. And let’s not forget quarterback Josh Allen losing his footing in being stuffed near the goal line on fourth down in the final seconds of a 34-31 loss at Tennessee in October. Coach Sean McDermott downplayed Buffalo’s struggles in tight games two weeks ago, when noting how the Bills overcame their first-half struggles in rallying to outscore the Rams 21-0 in the second half of a 31-10 win. And yet, if the Bills want to be measured as Super Bowl contenders, they’ll face similar questions until showing an ability to win in the clutch. Last season’s final seven playoff games were decided by six points or fewer. The playoffs are still months away, and perhaps the Bills get the benefit of the doubt for suggesting the loss can be galvanizing, given the adversity they faced. “Sometimes a loss like this is good medicine,” Von Miller said. “We got high-character guys. Adversity reveals character. This is all just adversity and I’m excited to see how we respond.” Buffalo will face even more adversity with offensive lineman Tommy Doyle out with a torn ACL. Cornerback Christian Benford will miss a few weeks with a broken hand, and backup receiver Jake Kumerow will be week to week with a high ankle sprain. “That was a heck of an effort. Never want to come up short,” McDermott said. “There’s no ribbons for second place, and they know it.” WHAT’S WORKING An offense which has topped 400 yards in six straight games, including playoffs, going back to last season. WHAT NEEDS HELP A running attack in which Allen accounts for 123 of the team’s combined 337 yards this season, and scored its only TD rushing. STOCK UP RB Devin Singletary for getting involved as a receiver in finishing with a team-leading nine catches for 78 yards and a touchdown. STOCK DOWN Backup center Greg Van Roten for mishandling several snap exchanges while filling in for injured starter Mitch Morse. A bad snap prevented Allen from spiking the ball to close the first half, with Buffalo in position to attempt a field goal at the Miami 34. INJURIES Allen said he was fine after having tests on his right throwing hand. … RT Spencer Brown was sidelined by heat exhaustion. … RG Ryan Bates did not finish because of a concussion. … S Jordan Poyer (foot), CB Dan Jackson (neck), DT Ed Oliver (ankle), DT Jordan Phillips (hamstring) did not play, and their status remains uncertain. KEY NUMBER 21-18 — Allen’s record when committing a turnover. He lost a fumble against Miami. NEXT STEPS Heal up and brace for a trip to play Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens (2-1), who have scored a NFL-leading 99 points entering Monday. Today’s breaking news and more in your inbox

Applications Of Metaverse In Virtual Gaming – Appinventiv https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/applications-of-metaverse-in-virtual-gaming-appinventiv/ The debut of the gaming metaverse powered by VR technology is creating massive hype in the gaming industry and has become the talk of the town among gamers. According to recent studies, more than 52% of the gamers in the US believe that the Metaverse can revolutionize the gaming industry.  As per the latest industry reports, the global metaverse market is expected to reach $1,527.55 billion by 2029 from $100.27 billion in 2022, at a CAGR of 47.6%. This growth contributes to a surge in the adoption of online video gaming based on AR/VR trends and technologies.  VR-incorporated gaming platforms create an illusion for a realistic experience using 3D images, VR headsets, full display screens, and rooms with sensory features of scents and tactile sensations. The platforms have reinvented the gaming industry paradigm and helped it gain major traction among gamers because of a highly impeccable and fascinating virtual experience. It is fascinating to see how Metaverse gaming is revolutionizing the cyberspace of gaming into an interactive and engaging 3D platform by offering immersive environments. If Metaverse gaming interests you, this article explains everything about the gaming metaverse and its implications on the virtual gaming industry, so that you understand how to create metaverse games for your business. How about we start by taking an overview of the gaming ecosystem before Metaverse? Virtual Gaming Before and After Metaverse Initially, first generation games were less interactive and allowed less control from the payer. Further, the second generation games allowed playing virtual games with and without financial commitment leading to better engagement.  Post this, the virtual gaming world was majorly based on blockchain-powered games involved with significant multiplayer games. However, blockchain later changed the gaming paradigm by using NFTs and cryptocurrencies. Currently, Metaverse-based virtual ecosystems are the latest evolution in the gaming industry, leading gamers to experience next-level environments. Metaverse in the gaming industry can either be centralized or decentralized, although gaming companies focus more on decentralized projects since the future is decrypted.  This has also ushered a new gaming reality called Web 3.0 gaming that allows players to move characters from one gaming experience to another. This model is also popularly known as the “play-to-earn” model in the virtual gaming platform.  Now, how does this Metaverse affect virtual gaming? Let’s take a look: How Metaverse Impacts the Virtual Gaming Platform? According to a study by Ernst & Young, 97% of executives believe that the gaming industry is central to the development of the metaverse, and 48% of the executives state that the Metaverse would change business models for virtual gaming businesses and drive revenue while also giving brands new opportunities to build relationships with their customers. How do you use the metaverse in gaming?  Metaverse is a virtual world that connects global customers with a shared digital platform to interact and socialize. Businesses looking to invest in Metaverse for gaming, leverage modern technologies, including 3D reconstruction, Augmented Reality, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, and Blockchain, to develop powerful and future versions of the Metaverse gaming apps. The Metaverse has the potential to fascinate users by offering them an impression and environment that they are truly in the real world they have entered. It provides them with a 3D environment or space where they interact closely with the elements around them.  Along with this, Metaverse also delivers an immersive and out-of-the-world experience where users can study, connect, work, earn money, and even attend meetings and concerts virtually with NFT trading, and live game streaming. Metaverse gaming is a vast ecosystem gaining traction for bringing the vision of realistic experiences to life. The applications of Metaverse redefine the future of online interactions, content ownership, and even real trading.  One example of the 3D virtual game platform Cens World launched as the ‘Future Metaverse Open-World Game of the Century,’ facilitates players to craft their own stories and give their characters personalities. This is a real-time example of delivering inevitable gaming experiences leveraged by modern technologies. Now, what options do players get in Metaverse gaming?  Key Characteristics of Metaverse Virtual Gaming  Metaverse gaming can transform various aspects of activities in a virtual environment. Mirroring life, Metaverse does not require any special gadgets such as headspace and has the potential to touch far more verticals in gaming than AR and VR.  Here are key characteristics and aspects touched by Metaverse use cases in gaming: Social gaming The Metaverse is inherently social, providing players with a socialistic environment where they can build relationships with the elements around them. Multi-player gaming will take on an additional dimension as players can invite friends from the real world, interact with other players, build relationships, etc. Play to earn  It is one of the crucial elements of gaming in the Metaverse. Players can also engage in profitable activities besides following linear storytelling and rules. They can also involve trading activities like selling the assets they have won inside the game to other players for metaverse based crypto gaming. Flexible gaming experience It provides a much more flexible immersive gaming experience. You can easily add players to the virtual world, create their content, build sub-games within a game, and treat the gaming environment as a platform-like space for other activities. Portable game assets  The interoperable architecture of the Metaverse could allow for asset portability. Weapons or avatar enhancements acquired in one game could be portable to a different environment, and NFT rules would govern persistent ownership. Mixed reality experience  The Metaverse leverages AR and MR to provide a more organic experience. Gaming in the Metaverse could incorporate mixed reality, where users move from group text in AR to an MR board game to a full-fledged Metaverse Virtual Reality world in a seamless workflow. What other technologies drive virtual metaverse gaming platforms? 4 Modern Technologies that Empower the Gaming Metaverse The gaming Metaverse has been leveraging modern technologies and has urged gaming companies to shift their interest toward Metaverse games. They strive to deliver an impeccable and best-in-class gaming experience. Metaverse game developers use next-gen technologies, including blockchain, artificial intelligence, and IoT. Let’s dive into the top emerging technologies required to develop a gaming Metaverse: AR and VR Technology The AR and VR technology offer inevitable and exciting 3D experiences empowering Metaverse development. AR has the potential to transform the real world and creates an amazing virtual gaming world using visual elements and characters. It facilitates smartphones and digital devices to let customers enjoy impeccable gaming experience. Blockchain and Metaverse cryptocurrency Blockchain technology facilitates businesses to develop decentralized Metaverse projects. It enables companies with enormous benefits, including digital proof of ownership, transfer of value, digital collectability, and interoperability. Metaverse based Cryptocurrencies permit users to transfer value in the 3D Metaverse. Internet of things (IoT) While leveraging the power of IoT solutions, Metaverse can collect, obtain and utilize massive data from the real world. The applications of IoT connect the virtual world of the Metaverse to real-world digital devices so that objects can easily switch in the changing environments. 3D reconstruction Implementing 3D applications is a traditional practice, but 3d reconstruction is a modern trend that has gained traction during the pandemic. Most real estate companies adopted this technology to take their potential buyers on a virtual property tour. Metaverse technology has been using 3D reconstructing to complement other technologies already existing in the Metaverse. Challenges Yet to be Addressed in the Gaming Metaverse Challenges are not always vulnerable to security threats but also bring enormous opportunities. Several challenges need to be addressed before reaching their full potential. The gaming Metaverse is a digital space where massive data is uploaded and is highly vulnerable to hacking and cybercrimes.  Check out some major challenges gaming companies often face while developing mind-blowing games. Data security As gamers put more and more personal information into the Metaverse to personalize their unique experiences, gaming companies will be held responsible for protecting their massive data from cyber criminals. According to an EY report, gamers who want to visit exciting locations in the Metaverse will not stay long if they feel their data or safety is at risk.  In contrast, gamers will return to platforms and products offered by companies they feel are transparent, safe, and trustworthy. This suggests cybersecurity is essential to a customized gamer experience and brand loyalty. Unsure of how to incorporate NFTs into gaming NFTs in gaming can include digital assets that players can own in their virtual universe and have the potential to be a building block of the Metaverse economy.  According to the EY US report, gaming executives believe that increased usage of NFTs boosts customer satisfaction, grows margins, and improves the visibility of products and services. Despite these benefits, 90% of executives said their companies currently do not have a viable business model to capture value f...

Promptly called the Live Activities, it will also appear on the Lock Screen once iOS 16.1 is live. This function aims to bring live scores from selected sports onto the Dynamic Island, as well as other activities. If you’re watching a live sports game on the Apple TV, the Live Activities will display the scores seamlessly on your iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max. Thanks for the tip!! Got this working for Premier League scores as well! pic.twitter.com/csscCo1wA3 — Jorge González Medina (@jaquia) September 17, 2022 That being said, those who don’t own the pro variants can still check out the scores on the Lock Screen. It is also reported that a Live Activities widget will also make its debut on iOS 16.1. Sports that will be included in Live Activities are Major League Baseball (MLB), the NBA and Premier League. The NBA and Premier League are definitely two popular sports for Malaysians but they will only launch in the US and Canada for now. Hopefully, it will be expanded globally. As for the MLB in Live Activities, it will be launching in the US, Canada, Australia, the UK, Brazil, Mexico, Japan, and South Korea. It would be cool for Live Activities to feature eSports too. With over $25 billion raised globally by crypto startups in 2021 and just under $10 billion raised in the first half of 2022 despite less than perfect market conditions, the interest of investors in the crypto space is not abating anytime soon. As blockchain continues redefining the boundaries of what is possible and carving out new ways of creating and transferring value between humans, it is important that everyone is carried along and that no one is left behind. However, despite the unmistakable interest and opportunities in the blockchain space, the funding space is riddled with problems. From one end, only projects that can raise considerable seed capital or have connections get the exposure and traction to be listed on major IEO platforms. This translates to hundreds if not thousands of legitimate projects with enterprising founders that never see the light of day. For the projects that scale through the initial hurdles of listing on expensive IEO platforms, every day small crypto investors are almost always excluded from an equal opportunity to invest, skewing opportunities in favor of big-time and institutional investors or crypto whales.  RaisedX: Our Solution RaisedX is a public token sale-only platform built with a simple idea; to give every small and medium crypto enthusiasts an equal opportunity to invest in legitimate and promising blockchain projects at their early stages. U.S. Women Break Team Record With 27th Straight FIBA World Cup Win – ESPN https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/u-s-women-break-team-record-with-27th-straight-fiba-world-cup-win-espn/ 2:02 AM ET Associated Press SYDNEY — Kelsey Plum scored 20 points, Chelsea Gray added 16 and the United States women routed Bosnia and Herzegovina 121-59 on Tuesday to break the team record for consecutive wins at the World Cup. The victory was the 27th in a row in World Cup play for the Americans, who haven’t lost since the 2006 semifinals against Russia. The U.S. won 26 in a row from 1994-2006 leading up to that game. The Soviet Union holds the World Cup record with 56 straight wins from 1959-86. What started with Sue Bird, Diana Taurasi and Sylvia Fowles has now been passed on to Breanna Stewart and A’ja Wilson. A legacy of excellence that doesn’t appear it will end anytime soon. After going unbeaten in pool play again, the U.S. hasn’t lost a game prior to the semifinals since 1983. The Americans (5-0) won their pool games by an average of 46.2 points and never trailed in any of them. The U.S. was coming off a record rout of South Korea in which the team broke the World Cup record for points with 145. While the Americans didn’t match that number, they put the game out of reach in the first 10 minutes, going up 33-15. The lead ballooned to 63-31 at halftime. Bosnia and Herzegovina put together a small run to start the third quarter, but the U.S. scored the final 19 points of the period. Once again they used a dominant inside performance, outscoring Bosnia and Herzegovina 84-28 in the paint led by Wilson, Stewart and Brionna Jones. The U.S. was missing Jewell Loyd, whom the team said was resting. Kahleah Copper started in her place and finished with 11 points. Nikolina Elez scored 19 points to lead the Bosniaks (0-5), who were playing in their first World Cup.

Daniel Jones 0-9 In NFL Prime-Time Games After Cowboys Loss: How Bad Has Giants QB Truly Been On Big Stage? – CBS Sports https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/daniel-jones-0-9-in-nfl-prime-time-games-after-cowboys-loss-how-bad-has-giants-qb-truly-been-on-big-stage-cbs-sports/ The New York Giants had the chance to be one of three 3-0 teams in the NFL, but the prime time curse got the best of quarterback Daniel Jones once again. The Giants fell to the Dallas Cowboys at home, 23-16. The Giants have been a laughingstock around the NFL over the past five seasons, with one of the worst records in the league during that span.  New York has been a comedy act in prime time, going 0-11 in prime time games since 2019 — with their last prime time victory coming in Week 10 of the 2018 season against the San Francisco 49ers. The Giants are 0-16 in games that start at 4:25 p.m. ET for later since 2019 — with their last victory also being that 49ers game. New York is 1-20 in 4:25 p.m. ET or later games over the past four seasons.  At the center of the Giants failure to win in prime time games is Jones, who sports an 0-9 record in such contests.  How bad has Jones actually been in prime time games since he entered the league in 2019? The numbers have been less than ideal.  Daniel Jones in prime time — Passing  Week 6, 2019 at Patriots (TNF) 15-of-31 (48.4%) 161 1 3 35.2 Loss 35-14 Week 9, 2019 vs. Cowboys (MNF) 26-of-41 (63.4%) 210 1 1 74.2 Loss 37-18 Week 1, 2020 vs. Steelers (MNF) 26-of-41 (63.4%) 279 2 2 79.2 Loss 26-16  Week 7, 2020 at Eagles (TNF) 20-of-30 (66.7%) 187 2 1 91.9 Loss 22-21 Week 8, 2020 vs. Buccaneers (MNF) 25-of-41 (61.0%) 256 2 2 74.8 Loss 25-23 Week 2, 2021 at Washington (TNF) 22-of-32 (68.8%) 249 1 102.2 Loss 30-29 Week 8, 2021 vs. Chiefs (MNF) 22-of-32 (68.8%) 222 2 1 96.1 Loss 20-17 Week 11, 2021 at Buccaneers (MNF) 23-of-38 (60.5%) 167 1 2 57.7 Loss 30-10 Week 3, 2022 vs. Cowboys (MNF) 20-of-37 (54.1%) 196 0 1 57.9 Loss 23-16 Heading into the game against the Cowboys, the numbers weren’t great for Jones in his previous eight prime time starts, completing 179 of 286 passes (62.6%) for 1,731 yards with 12 touchdowns to 12 interceptions for a 76.0 rating.  Including Monday night’s game, Jones never has thrown for three touchdowns in a prime time affair, and only had one game where he didn’t throw an interception. Jones has never thrown for 300 yards in a prime time game. The Giants have scored fewer than 20 points in six of those nine contests. Four of those losses have been by a field goal or less.  Jones just has two fourth-quarter passing touchdowns in the one-score prime time games, with a failed two-point conversion to tie the 2020 game against Tampa Bay and a lost fumble on the final drive against Philadelphia that same year.  The Giants quarterback just hasn’t got it done through the air. How about on the ground?  Daniel Jones in prime time — Rushing  Game Opponent Carries Yards TD Fumbles (Lost) Result Week 6, 2019 at Patriots (TNF) 2 8 0 (0) Loss 35-14 Week 9, 2019 vs. Cowboys (MNF) 6 54 2 (2) Loss 37-18 Week 1, 2020 vs. Steelers (MNF) 4 22 0 (0) Loss 26-16 Week 7, 2020 at Eagles (TNF) 4 92 1 (1) Loss 22-21 Week 8, 2020 vs. Buccaneers (MNF) 3 20 0 0 (0) Loss 25-23 Week 2, 2021 at Washington (TNF) 9 95 1 0 (0) Loss 30-29 Week 8, 2021 vs. Chiefs (MNF) 5 12 1 (0) Loss 20-17 Week 11, 2021 at Buccaneers (MNF) 3 10 0 (0) Loss 30-10 Week 3, 2022 vs. Cowboys (MNF) 9 79 0 0 (0) Loss 23-16 Jones has been impressive carrying the football in prime time games, having 45 carries for 392 yards and a touchdown, averaging 8.71 yards per carry and 43.6 yards per game through nine games (including Monday’s matchup). He has four fumbles and lost three in prime time games. On Monday, he had another decent game on the ground, but it was not nearly enough to make up for the other issues on offense.  Of course, Jones is known for falling on a 80-yard run against Philadelphia that night — having an easy score in sight. NFL next Gen Stats tracked Jones at 21.23 miles an hour on the run before he tripped and failed to score the touchdown.  The Giants did score later in the possession, but blew a 21-10 lead with 6:21 left. The 80-yard run by Jones is the longest run for a quarterback since Colin Kaepernick in 2014, but Jones failed to score. That run just magnifies Jones’ prime time struggles. Verdict Jones currently averages 257.7 yards per game (passing and rushing) with 13 total touchdowns and 16 turnovers (13 interceptions and three lost fumbles) in prime time. The numbers haven’t been great, and the Giants offense has struggled in those prime time games as a result. Jones has completed 62.9% of passes in his career and averaged 218.5 passing yards per game (214.1 in prime time) with 48 touchdowns to 30 interceptions for an 84.9 rating — so his prime time numbers throwing the football are significantly worse.  All but one of these games is in the past as Jones no longer has Pat Shurmur and Joe Judge coaching him, but a coach that plays to his strengths in Brian Daboll. Jones has completed 64.1% of his passes for 560 yards with three touchdowns to two interceptions over the first three games of 2022. He also has 25 carries for 125 yards (5.0 yards per carry). The Giants are 2-1 because of solid defense, a great Saquon Barkley, and the fact that Jones has only three turnovers. Jones has struggled against the Cowboys in his career, losing five of six games. He’ll have a chance to avenge Monday night’s defeat on Thanksgiving.

Flower Mound P&Z Approves Furst Ranch – The Cross Timbers Gazette https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/flower-mound-pz-approves-furst-ranch-the-cross-timbers-gazette/ The Flower Mound Planning & Zoning Commission voted Monday night to recommend approval of the proposed Furst Ranch development in west Flower Mound. Four hours after the meeting began, all P&Z commissioners voted to recommend approval except for Greg Wilson and Janvier Werner. Flower Mound Ranch, aka Furst Ranch, a large proposed mixed-use development on all four corners of the Hwy 377/FM 1171 intersection, will now go to Flower Mound Town Council on Oct. 3 for full approval. Landowner Jack Furst and local design and engineering firm McAdams presented a plan that includes homes, apartments, commercial and office space, parks, trails, schools and possibly a resort hotel, corporate headquarters and a hospital. High rise buildings up to eight-stories would be allowed, but warehouses are no longer in the plan. After three months of negotiating with town leadership, the number of multi-family units has dropped substantially. Furst Ranch is located in west Flower Mound. The revised concept plan calls for 6,000 apartments, with 1,000 of them being age-restricted for seniors. That number is down from Furst’s application last fall that included 10,448 apartments. In addition, the apartments will be phased-in based on Furst bringing in new commercial space. “For the first 10 years, I can’t build any more than 2,750 apartments,” Furst said at a recent community meeting. Along with multi-family housing, there will be 3,000 single-family homes. “The project is consistent with the [town’s] Master Plan and Smart Growth” said Randi Rivera, director of planning and entitlement for McAdams. During Monday’s meeting, Rivera reiterated the property’s vested rights for mixed-use development. Many residents spoke out against the proposal, primarily because of the number of apartments. Before voting to recommend approval, P&Z commissioners discussed the value of the commercial property versus the density of the apartments, ultimately mostly deciding that the pros outweighed the cons. This spring, the Town Council approved Furst’s request to rezone 544 acres in the north and west parts of the property to one-acre home lots. Furst set aside 50 acres for a new Argyle ISD elementary and middle school, and will donate 15 of those acres to the school district, with the district purchasing the remaining 35 acres. Thirty percent of the land will be open space with 12 miles of trails, and Furst is donating 97 acres on the south side of the property to Flower Mound for a town park with ball fields. Plans also show restaurants lining a boardwalk on the shore of Burger Lake in the middle of the property. Furst is proposing a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone to help finance the infrastructure of the development, which would need approval from the Flower Mound Town Council. The project includes 6 to 8 million square feet of commercial uses along six miles of road frontage on FM 1171 and Hwy 377. Furst estimated the commercial tax base generated by the project at buildout will be in the $5 billion range. “This is an opportunity for us to create the western gateway of Flower Mound,” Furst said at the community meeting. “We’re trying to create a quality development that has unbelievable tenants, both residential and commercial.” As far as what stores would come, Furst said he is talking with HEB Grocery. As far as traffic, Hwy 377 will be widened with an overpass spanning FM 1171 and TxDOT is working on plans to widen Hwy 377 south into Roanoke. The project will be built in phases gradually over the next 30-40 years, with the first residents possibly moving in by the end of 2026. At buildout, the development is expected to be home to 20,000 people.

China Gets Ready For Travel During The National Day Holiday – China Daily https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/china-gets-ready-for-travel-during-the-national-day-holiday-china-daily/ Tourists ride on camels during Mid-Autumn Festival holiday at Mingsha Mountain and Crescent Spring scenic spot in Dunhuang, Northwest China’s Gansu province, Sept 10, 2022. [Photo/Xinhua] People’s enthusiasm for travelling is rising in China for the upcoming week-long National Day holiday. Air ticket prices and booking volume are seeing an obvious increase during the week-long period compared with this year’s Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, the Chinanews.com reported Tuesday. By Sept 16, the average price of the booked air ticket during the National Day holiday surpassed 700 yuan ($97.93), increasing nearly 40 percent compared with the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday, said the online travel agency TravelGo. Air tickets for some routes are in short supply during the upcoming holiday, with the price of economy class on some routes surging to full price, said another online travel platform Qunar. The discounts for air tickets have been greatly reduced from Sept 28 to 30 on some popular travel routes, such as Beijing-Dunhuang, Shanghai-Lijiang, Guangzhou-Jiuzhaigou and Tianjin-Jieyang. The top 10 most popular destinations by flight during the upcoming National Day holiday are Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Kunming, Hangzhou, Nanjing, Xi’an, Chongqing, Changsha and Qingdao, according to the online tour platform Ctrip. With the relaxation of entry and quarantine policies in some countries and regions, the search and order volumes of air tickets on international routes have significantly increased. Data from the TravelGo showed that the average price of the international flights jumps 18 percent year-on-year during the week-long holiday. By Sept 25, Japan became the hottest flight destination from China, with the number of booked flight orders for that route surging 67 percent week-on-week during the holiday. Moreover, the air price of the route increased 32 percent. Popular overseas flight destinations also include the UK, South Korea, Singapore and Russia. The short-distance trip, such as local and surrounding tours, remains mainstream during the holiday due to some uncertainties brought by the pandemic, with domestic scenic spots, hotels and minsu (a Chinese-style bed-and-breakfast establishment) expected to usher in a large number of visitors, TravelGo said. TravelGo predicted that parent-child travel, rural travel, as well as leisure outdoor and self-driving travel will become the most popular tourism “themes” during the National Day holiday. People’s attention to high-star hotels with various leisure and vacation themes increased by 130 percent after the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday. In addition, young tourists prefer in-depth urban tours and various light outdoor games. According to the TravelGo, the search volume for various light outdoor travels has increased by over 150 percent month-on-month since September. Light outdoor sports including citywalks, frisbee, flag football, paddle board, cycling and kayaking have become popular experiences among young tourists.

Quality Sleep And Healthy Living With Vitafoam: Questions And Answers Tribune Online
Quality Sleep And Healthy Living With Vitafoam: Questions And Answers – Tribune Online https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/quality-sleep-and-healthy-living-with-vitafoam-questions-and-answers-tribune-online/ Following our information sharing on matters concerning quality sleep which is naturally vital to our physical and mental well-being towards a healthy and productive life, we engage in questions and answers series with you, our audience. We thank you immensely for your participation in this interactive aspect of our publication. Here are the extracts from the series for widespread benefit. Dear Doctor, I do have difficulty with my sleep. Firstly, it takes me a long time at times rolling on the bed before sleep comes to my eyes, any remedy for that? At times when I woke up at midnight to urinate, after coming back to sleep, I find it difficult to sleep back, any remedy for that? H.I. Dear H.I. The difficulty in falling asleep either at the beginning of sleep time or after a disturbance by urination or noise during sleep is one of the common sleep problems. For sleep to kick off, a regulatory sleep switch in the brain will be purposefully activated in response to night-dark time, fatigue and exhaustion. The activated in-built brain sleep switch initiates the sleep mode which temporarily shuts down the brain and body activities for rest and resetting to be ready for the next activity period. The difficulty in falling asleep usually results from poor function of the in-built brain regulatory sleep switch with inadequate activation and lack of sleep mode initiation. The brain sleep switch functions well when the brain is in a good state of health, physically, mentally and socially. And also the sleep mode initiation is supported when other things in the environment around the person are sleep-inducing.  So, to correct the poor function of the brain switch, improve its activation and ensure adequate sleep mode initiation, when necessary; Firstly, do the following to ensure the brain’s good state of health: – Consistently drink an adequate quantity of water at least 4.5L – 5.0L over the day, with your urine turning colourless which is the colour of water. – Regularly eat just enough quantity of balanced diet regularly two or three times daily. – Regularly do some SAFE exercises like fast walking along the streets or around your home, push-up sets, etc. – graded duration starting from any duration you can tolerate targeting 30mins – daily or at least five times a week. – Avoiding smoking, excess alcohol and stimulants like caffeine. – Practicing good stress management by avoiding avoidable stressors and handling the avoidable stresses positively with acceptance of reality, adequate rest and leisure  – Adopting a regular sleep schedule as much as possible, maintaining the same range of time to go to bed. – Do not use sleeping drugs, unless well trained medical practitioner has checked you by asking questions to get a clear picture of your sleep patterns, physical checking the body with hands and equipment and conducting relevant laboratory tests, before prescribing the sleeping drugs as needed. Secondly, ensure sleeping-inducing surroundings by: – Practicing relaxing techniques such as listening to soothing soft music, reading a good book, repetitive recitation of familiar statements or counting numbers, gentle yoga, deep breathing exercises or quiet meditation. – Sleeping in a calming and relaxing environment that is noiseless, dark, smelling nice with cool temperature – Sleeping on a quality mattress and pillow that are conducive sleeping surfaces for supportive posture Yours in service, Dr Charles Uzodimma Let us remember that where you sleep, when you sleep and how you sleep affect your mental health, physical wellbeing and living a healthy life. Browns’ Garrett Injured In One-Car Accident | News, Sports, Jobs – Warren Tribune Chronicle https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/browns-garrett-injured-in-one-car-accident-news-sports-jobs-warren-tribune-chronicle/ CLEVELAND — Cleveland Browns All-Pro defensive end Myles Garrett remains in hospital care as doctors assess non-life-threatening injuries he suffered while flipping his Porsche in a one-car accident following practice Monday. As of 11:50 p.m., Garrett was still being evaluated following the accident, which happened on a rural road a few hours after the team’s practice. The Browns did not provide any details about Garrett’s injuries or condition. Garett’s agent, Nicole Lynn, said in a statement posted on Twitter that the star has been “alert and responsive” while receiving medical attention. She said, “we are waiting to learn the extent of his injuries.” On behalf of Garrett’s family, Lynn thanked medical personnel for getting the 26-year-old and an unidentified female passenger out of his mangled vehicle and transporting them to a hospital. Lynn told AP in a text message that Garrett did not break any bones and she expects him to be discharged ether Monday night or into Tuesday. The Ohio State Highway Patrol said it responded to a rollover crash around 3 p.m. When troopers arrived, they found a gray Porsche 911 Turbo S on the right side of the road with extensive damage. The crash is still under investigation, but the highway patrol said “impairment from alcohol/or drugs is not suspected.” Garrett and his passenger were wearing safety belts. Several local media outlets posted photos of the damaged sports car, which can reach speeds of 205 mph. Garrett and his teammates returned to practice Monday at the team’s facility in Berea, Ohio, following a long weekend after their 29-17 home win over the Pittsburgh Steelers on Thursday night. The 26-year-old Garrett was in the locker room following the morning workout. It’s not yet known if Garrett’s playing status for Sunday’s game in Atlanta will be altered by the accident. Garrett needs just one sack to become the team’s career leader. He was held to two assisted tackles in Thursday’s win over the Steelers. He missed one practice last week with an unspecified neck issue. One of the NFL’s most dominant players, Garrett was selected with the No. 1 overall pick by Cleveland in 2017. He set a team single-season record with 16 sacks last season, and has recorded 61 1/2 sacks in 71 games. Garret has three sacks and forced a fumble this season. The three-time Pro Bowler is often double- and triple-teamed by blockers. Last week, Garrett got even more attention from the Steelers as Cleveland was missing end Jadeveon Clowney due to an ankle injury. Clowney didn’t practice Monday, but hasn’t been ruled out yet for the Falcons. Today’s breaking news and more in your inbox

Cryptos Rise Even as Stocks Suffer Bitcoin and ether inched upward in Monday trading, countering equity markets that closed lower but remaining in the same narrow bands they’ve occupied for more than a week. The largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization was recently trading above $19,200, a more than 2% gain over the past 24 hours. BTC has been tangoing with the $19,000 threshold for eight days, dipping and rising according to the winds of the latest economic indicators. Ether was recently changing hands over its most recent support of $1,300, a more than 2% increase from the previous day. Most other major cryptos were largely in the green, with DOT and BSV recently up more than 6% and 5%, respectively. “Crypto markets are holding up quite well in the face of everything that’s going on globally,” Nauman Sheikh, managing director at Wave Financial, told CoinTV’s “First Mover” program. Equity markets, from which crypto prices have drawn their lead for much of the year, closed lower, with the Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) and S&P 500 both falling over a percentage point and the tech-heavy Nasdaq dropping 0.6%. The declines came amid investors’ heightened recessionary fears that took root following a wave of hawkish interest rate hikes and economic data pointing firmly downward. The DJIA tumbled into bear market territory, meaning it has declined at least 20% from its previous peak. On Monday, yields for two-year U.S. Treasurys soared to 4.3%, reaching levels last seen in August 2007. Ten-year notes topped 3.9%, their highest mark since 2010. An inverted yield curve suggests that investors are placing a higher degree of risk on short-term than longer-term lending, and historically has foreshadowed recessions that affect all risk assets. Cryptocurrencies typically move in the opposite direction of yields. Earlier in the day, markets were further roiled when the British pound fell to a historic low against the U.S. dollar before rallying. The drop occurred after the British government introduced its largest tax cuts in a half century to spur economic growth, but raising fresh inflation concerns. Crypto news offered a mix of events, negative, neutral and positive. The search for Do Kwon intensified following Interpol’s Red Notice asking law enforcement agencies worldwide to find and arrest the Terraform Labs co-founder, pending extradition, surrender or similar legal action. Australia said it would complete its central bank digital currency by 2023 and Walmart, the world’s largest retailer, announced a major NFT initiative. The Walt Disney Company separately hinted at a ramped-up metaverse presence through a recent job listing for a principal counsel specializing in non-fungible tokens (NFT) and decentralized finance (DeFi). Despite the ongoing, macroeconomic turbulence, Jeff Dorman, chief investment officer at crypto fund manager Arca, took issue with “the convenient narrative” that ties “digital assets’ fates to macro.” In his Two Satoshis newsletter, Dorman wrote that the correlation was “short-lived” and applied only to bitcoin and “a few other bellwether cryptocurrencies.” “The future success or failure of digital asset investments will be more closely tied to user and app growth than to dot plots,” he wrote, adding: “But with the Ethereum Merge in the rear-view mirror and the Federal Reserve stranglehold transparently and clearly stated, what will be the next catalyst to drive digital asset prices? To answer that, we must acknowledge how bad the data is and compare it to data points suggesting trends may reverse soon.” Biggest Gainers Biggest Losers Singapore Surges Back as a Crypto and Business Hub Good luck trying to book a hotel in Singapore this week. Token2049 is in town, followed by the Formula 1 race. Despite the bear market for crypto, organizers say there are over 7,000 people scheduled to attend and 2,000 companies represented. Hotel prices are up nearly 70% from last year with the highest prices per night in a decade as visitors flock back to a Singapore free of COVID-19 restrictions. The event, which features developers and executives from leading Web3 and other blockchain-related companies, underscores not only the global return to normality but also Singapore’s resurgence as a crypto hub and business hub. It also highlights the different roads that Singapore and its perennial rival, Hong Kong, which is playing catch-up, have been traveling. Singapore re-opened its borders and dropped most COVID-19 restrictions in March 2022. Hong Kong is now only doing so this month, perhaps egged on by its loss of the title of top financial hub in Asia to Singapore. Another loss for Hong Kong is the Token2049 conference itself. Initially, this event was a London and Hong Kong affair until it was canceled twice in Hong Kong because of pandemic restrictions. This year’s Singapore Fintech Festival and Hong Kong Fintech Week are actually scheduled to be overlapping events. But as CoinDesk has previously reported, these might be two different events entirely. Hong Kong Fintech week is less about fintech and more about govtech: how financial technology can help Hong Kong and its firms be more efficient for Beijing’s vision of the “Greater Bay Area,” the future tight integration of Hong Kong, Shenzhen and Macau, along with several regional mainland cities. Singapore’s festival, in contrast, is a much more international affair, judging by the speakers’ list. Besides, anyone from overseas who wants to go to Hong Kong’s Fintech Week needs to arrive three days early as the current rules say no “maskless or group activities” (including restaurants and bars) for 72 hours. And there’s a required PCR test at the airport, and three more spread out during the first week. Not much fun for conference goers. 8: 30 p.m. H1HKT/SGT(12:30 p.m. (UTC): U.S. durable goods orders (August) In case you missed it, here is the most recent episode of “First Mover” on CoinDesk TV: Has bitcoin (BTC) hit bottom yet? “First Mover” dove into the crypto markets with Wave Financial Managing Director Nauman Sheikh. U.S. Whistleblowers Aiding Migrant Children Feared Retaliation -Watchdog – Reuters https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/u-s-whistleblowers-aiding-migrant-children-feared-retaliation-watchdog-reuters/ Activists defending the rights of migrants hold a protest near Fort Bliss to call for the end of the detention of unaccompanied minors at the facility in El Paso, Texas, U.S, June 8, 2021. REUTERS/Jose Luis Gonzalez/File Photo Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com WASHINGTON, Sept 27 (Reuters) – U.S. government workers feared retaliation for raising concerns last year about the treatment of unaccompanied migrant children on a Texas military base, where children have been held amid record arrivals at the U.S.-Mexico border, according to a watchdog report released on Tuesday. Two U.S. government employees said they experienced retaliation after they sounded alarms about the conditions at Fort Bliss, which has been used for emergency housing since March 2021, according to the report issued by the U.S. Health and Human Services (HHS) inspector general’s office. The alleged acts of retaliation, which included demotion and removal from assignments, may have caused a broader “whistleblower chilling,” the inspector general’s office said, “effectively scaring staff into withholding any complaints or reports of wrongdoing.” Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com The whistleblowers cited in Tuesday’s report included a staff member working with HHS Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) leadership. ORR oversees the care and custody of unaccompanied minors. The staffer, who was not named, was allegedly demoted and transferred after raising concerns about the treatment of children at the base and the removal of certain safety checks in the program to release children to sponsors. An HHS official, speaking on the condition of anonymity, told Reuters the agency would not retaliate against someone for raising a child welfare concern. The HHS official said the agency faced challenges during an emergency situation in the spring of 2021, but that conditions at Fort Bliss now are “night and day” compared to then. There are currently 589 children at the base, the official said, and children stay, on average, for 13 days before being released to parents or other sponsors. ORR’s parent agency agreed with all the report’s recommendations, including ensuring that employees and contractors are aware of whistleblower protections. In a letter to the inspector general, the agency pledged to more explicitly specify the protections in contractor agreements and trainings. Reuters Graphics Reuters Graphics The number of children caught crossing the border with Mexico rose steeply in 2021, posing operational and humanitarian challenges for U.S. President Joe Biden, a Democrat. To alleviate overcrowding in border stations, HHS opened several emergency shelters to house unaccompanied children until they could be placed with sponsors in the United States. Migrant children sent to the emergency shelters, including Fort Bliss, described crowded living conditions, spoiled food, lack of clean clothes and struggles with depression, according to child testimonials filed in court in June 2021. read more Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Reporting by Ted Hesson in Washington; Additional reporting by Kristina Cooke in San Francisco and Mica Rosenberg in New York; Editing by Aurora Ellis Our Standards: The Thomson Reuters Trust Principles.

Telescopes on Earth and in space are going to take measurements of this change to see how the change measures up to computer-generated simulations. “It has been a successful completion of the first part of the world’s first planetary defence test. I believe it is going to teach us how to protect our planet from an incoming asteroid. I really look forward to learning all about what is happening from the observatory so they can tell us from the changes in this asteroid’s orbit. With this mission, we are showing that planetary defence is a global endeavour and that it s very possible to save our planet,” said NASA administrator Bill Nelson in the NASA livestream. “I have been working in the lab for many years and I have been involved in a lot of missions. But never before have I been so excited to see a signal go off,” said Ralph Semmel, director of the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, referring to how the signal from the DART spacecraft’s DRACO imager went off after the crash. In a way, the impact is just the beginning of the mission as science and images from the mission are yet to come in. In the coming days and weeks, scientists will be studying the Didymos system from all angles. This includes observing changes in Dimorphos’ orbit with ground-based observatories and studying the impact crater with space telescopes. Scientists may even get images of the collision from the LICIACube, Hubble and Webb. © IE Online Media Services Pvt Ltd First published on: 27-09-2022 at 08:28:16 am

Portland Retro Gaming Expo 2022 To Host 3rd Blockbuster World Championship This October – Gaming Age https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/portland-retro-gaming-expo-2022-to-host-3rd-blockbuster-world-championship-this-october-gaming-age/ Sometimes the squeaky wheel does get the grease, and in this instance a peeved retro gaming influencer gets news coverage. This weekend, a tweet from occasional Dr. Eggman cosplayer JohnRiggs lamented that larger outlets such as IGN and Kotaku failed promote the fact that the Blockbuster World Championship 3 is happening at this year’s Portland Retro Gaming Expo (Oct 14th to 16th). Well John, I’ve got you covered, even if the show seemingly doesn’t employ a PR agency. Portland Retro Gaming Expo or PRGE for short is one of those shows I’ve always wanted to see on account that I am a fervent retro collector and I also follow the exploits of Kelsey Lewin, Cody ‘DSKoopa’ Spencer and the duo’s store Pink Gorilla Games. This year’s show will feature a two round tournament harkening back to the two nationwide tournaments held by the once ubiquitous rental chain. Unlike any schmoe, PRGE can claim they have the backing of Blockbuster, in the form of the last Blockbuster which is situated in Bend, Oregon. In fact the GM of said Blockbuster, Sandi Harding will be on hand to witness the festivities. The first round will pit contestants in 10 man Saturn Bomberman where players who win 3 rounds will advance. The second round consists of a score attack in (Downfall OG Plus (Which may be an endless runner-ish game where you have to keep going down a pit without being scrolled off/falling off the screen) on the Atari Jaguar. The prize pool is an impressive $1750 and the winner will be one tournament win away from tying the illustrious Dr. Disrespect’s two time victories. Those interested in entering the tournament can find official details here. However, without the tournament, there will be plenty of fun to be had at Portland Retro Gaming Expo 2022 and Portland, despite its homeless situation, is still a fun town to visit. Also IGN and Kotaku both have means of sending news tips; those links can be found via these links here and here. I almost for sure thought a publication like @Kotaku or @IGN would’ve done an article about the @Blockbuster World Video Game Championship coming back to PRGE, supported by last Blockbuster in Bend, OR. There’ll also be a Blockbuster replica onsite for awesomeness. pic.twitter.com/YlpV5qSYu5 — JohnRiggs (@johnblueriggs) September 24, 2022

California Coronavirus Updates: Canada To Soon Drop Vaccine Mandate At US-Canada Border – Capital Public Radio News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/california-coronavirus-updates-canada-to-soon-drop-vaccine-mandate-at-us-canada-border-capital-public-radio-news/ Find an updated count of COVID-19 cases in California and by county on our tracker here. Latest Updates Pfizer plans to roll out updated COVID-19 booster shots for children ages 5 to 11 Canada to soon drop vaccine mandate at US-Canada border Flu season could be headed to the U.S. early California is easing mask-wearing recommendations DOJ charges 48 people in COVID-19 pandemic funds scheme COVID-19 By The Numbers Monday, September 26 11:58 a.m.: Pfizer plans to roll out updated COVID-19 booster shots for children ages 5 to 11 Pfizer is asking the Food and Drug Administration to expand the use of its updated COVID-19 booster shot to children ages 5 to 11. As reported by the Associated Press, some 4.4 million Americans have already received one of the updated boosters since they rolled out earlier this month for anyone 12 and older. Just like with Pfizer’s original vaccine, elementary school-aged children would get a third of the dose of the updated booster. The FDA is expected to decide soon. Pfizer and its partner BioNTech also announced that they have begun a study of the updated booster in children younger than 5. 11:02 a.m.: Canada to soon drop vaccine mandate at US-Canada border An official familiar with the matter says Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has signed off on Canada dropping the vaccine requirement for people who enter Canada at the end of September. Canada, like the United States, requires foreign nationals to be vaccinated when entering the country. According to the Associated Press, no change in the mandate is expected in the U.S. in the near term. Unvaccinated foreign travelers who are allowed to enter Canada are currently subjected to mandatory arrival tests and a 14-day quarantine. The officials say Trudeau has agreed to let a cabinet order enforcing mandatory COVID-19 vaccination requirements at the border expire Sept. 30. Saturday, September 24 12:30 p.m.: Flu season could be headed to the U.S. early After virtually disappearing for two years as the COVID-19 pandemic raged, influenza seems to be poised to stage a comeback this year in the U.S., NPR reports. And while COVID-19 is notoriously unpredictable and many restrictions have been lifted, there’s a good chance COVID cases will rise again this winter. During this year’s Southern Hemisphere winter, the flu returned to some countries like Australia, where it started ramping up months earlier than usual and caused one of the worst flu seasons in recent years. The combination of flu and coronavirus cases could seriously strain the health system, according to Dr. William Schaffner, an infectious disease professor at Vanderbilt University. The flu causes between an estimated 140,00 and 710,000 hospitalizations annually, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. The CDC is reporting that the flu is already starting to spread in parts of the south like Texas, and experts caution that very young kids who have not been exposed to flu for two years may be especially vulnerable. But experts doubt COVID and flu will hit the country at the same time because of something known as “viral interference,” a phenomenon that occurs when infection with one virus reduces the risk of catching another. “These two viruses may still both occur during the same season, but my gut feeling is they’re going to happen sequentially rather than both at the same time,” said Dr. Richard Webby, an infectious disease specialist at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. “So I’m less concerned about the twindemic.” But Webby and others are still urging people to make sure everyone in their family gets a flu shot as soon as possible, especially if flu season arrives early. Friday, September 23 11:12 a.m.: California is easing mask-wearing recommendations California’s Department of Public Health released updated guidance for the use of face masks, dropping the recommendation for universal mask wearing in indoor public spaces. Moving forward, the CDPH will follow the CDC’s Community Level Tracker in making mask-wearing recommendations. The state plans to only strongly recommend mask wearing in crowded indoor settings for all residents when the community level is high. It’ll also allow certain congregate settings — including correctional facilities, homeless and emergency shelters and cooling centers — to be mask optional. This new guidance only applies when COVID-19 levels are low. As of Friday, Sacramento county is in a low community spread level. You can check your county with the CDC Community Level Tracker. Masking changes will take effect this Friday, Sept. 23, and don’t apply to health care and long-term care settings. “This shift in masking is consistent with California’s SMARTER Plan and gives Californians the information they should consider when deciding when to wear a mask, including the rate of spread in the community and personal risk,” said CDPH Director and State Public Health Officer Tomás Aragón in a statement. Here’s the CDPH’s masking recommendations, according to a deparment press release: When community COVID-19 levels are low, those at a lower risk for severe illness can choose to skip masking. Those at higher risk should consider wearing masks in crowded indoor public places. When community levels are media, those at a lower risk for severe illness to consider wearing masks in crowded indoor places. It’s recommended to wear a mask in crowded indoor spaces for those at higher risk. When community levels are high, it is recommended that everyone wears a mask indoors. Californians at higher risk for severe illness, including people who are unvaccinated, immunocompromised, have certain disabilities or underlying health conditions should take extra COVID-19 precautions. Thursday, September 22 11:16 a.m.: DOJ charges 48 people in COVID-19 pandemic funds scheme The Department of Justice has charged 48 people in what prosecutors have called a scheme to take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic to fraud the U.S. government of $250 million. According to the Associated Press, prosecutors say the defendants obtained government funds under the guise of providing food to underprivileged children. But just a tiny fraction of the money went toward feeding kids, and the rest was instead laundered through shell companies and spent on property, luxury cars and travel. Prosecutors say it is the largest fraud case to date that deals with the misuse of government funds during the pandemic. 10:49 a.m.: Florida man pleads guilty to $7.2 million COVID-19 relief fraud A Florida man who fled the U.S. and was eventually arrested in Croatia has pleaded guilty to stealing more than $7.2 million in COVID-19 relief funds. As reported by the Associated Press, court records show that 46-year-old Don Cisternino pleaded guilty Tuesday in Orlando federal court to wire fraud, aggravated identity theft and illegal money transaction. He faces up to 32 years in federal prison at a scheduled hearing for Jan 5. According to the plea agreement, Cisternino submitted a fraudulent loan application for a Paycheck Protection Program loan in May 2020. He claimed his company had 441 employees and monthly payroll expenses in 2019 of more than $2.8 million. The company actually had no employees other than Cisternino. Wednesday, September 21 12:28 p.m.: FDA concedes delays in response to baby formula shortages U.S. health regulators say their response to the ongoing infant formula shortage was slowed by delays in processing a whistleblower complaint and test samples from the nation’s largest formula factory. According to the Associated Press, the Food and Drug Administration on Tuesday published its first formal report detailing the factors that led to the shortage, which forced the U.S. government to import formula from overseas. The report highlights several key problems at the regulatory agency. Those include unclear procedures for vetting whistleblower complaints about company violations. The FDA also noted that it had to reschedule its initial inspection of the Abbott plant due to cases of COVID-19 among company staff. That delay came on top of earlier missed inspections because the agency pulled its inspectors from the field during the pandemic. 11:42 a.m.: ‘Our world is in peril’: UN leaders push for solutions The world’s problems are seizing the spotlight as the U.N General Assembly’s yearly meeting of world leaders opens. As reported by the Associated Press, the conference began on Tuesday with dire assessments of a planet beset by escalating crises and conflicts that an aging international order seems increasingly ill-equipped to tackle. U.N Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says the world is “gridlocked in colossal global dysfunction.” After two years when many leaders weighed in by video because of the coronavirus pandemic, now presidents, premiers, monarchs, and foreign ministers have gathered almost entirely in person for diplomacy’s premier global event. Speakers worried about a changing climate, spiking fuel prices, food shortages, economic inequality, migration, disinformation, discrimination, hate speech, public health and more. Tuesday, September 20 12:01 p.m.: Federal authorities say they’ve uncovered largest COVID-19 fraud scheme yet Federal authorities have charged 47 people in what they’re calling the largest fraud scheme yet to take advantage of the COVID-19 pandemic by stealing and defrauding the government of $250 million. Documents made public Tuesday charge the defendants with counts including conspiracy, wire fraud, money laundering and bribery, as reported by the Associated Press. Prosecutors say the defendants created companies t...

The Galaxy Buds2 Pro also boast a fast-charging speed, with the ability to play up to one hour of audio after just five minutes of charging. “With other wearable devices, I had to pay a lot of attention to when I would have to charge them, but I didn’t have to as much with these Galaxy wearable devices,” he said.
