Married At First Sight Season 13: Where Are They Now? Screen Rant
Married At First Sight Season 13: Where Are They Now? – Screen Rant https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/married-at-first-sight-season-13-where-are-they-now-screen-rant/ The couples of Married At First Sight season 15 have officially made it out of the honeymoon stage and are now taking on married life out in the real world. Fans of the show are hoping for the best and that this season will feature more love connections between the couples that have supposedly been matched up by the experts as true-love matches. If the last few seasons are any indication of what’s to come, fans should buckle in for the long haul because the drama doesn’t always end when the cameras stop. The Houston season may not have produced any lasting marriages, but many bonds were formed between the season 13 cast in the past few months, some more unexpected than others. 10 Brett Layton On decision day, Brett decided to split with her husband Ryan and the two went their separate ways. She may have parted with her husband, but she has remained friends with some of her season 13 costars. Brett was recently seen in a TikTok posted by Myrla of them and costar Rachel all enjoying a little carpool karaoke but since Brett keeps her accounts private, updates on her life usually come from snippets seen in her friends’ posts. However, it can be assumed from her Instagram bio that she is still a coach and teacher in the Cypress-Fairbanks school district. She has decided to stay connected with the show as a fan and shared her thoughts on the season 14 MAFS couples with People Magazine. 9 Ryan Ignasiak Since divorcing Brett, Ryan has also remained in contact with some other MAFS season 13 husbands and is seen on Instagram attending workouts and dinners together. He has even attended an Astros game with MAFS’ Doctor Viviana who did not return for the show’s latest 15th season so that she could dedicate more of her time to outside projects and opportunities (via Screen Rant). Ryan is still working in the Houston Oil & Gas industry but finds time to make appearances for MAFS. He returned to the show for season 14’s “Where Are They Now?” special episode where he may have had some budding chemistry with Alyssa Ellman. The two were flirty with each other and while they seemed to have more chemistry together than they had with their previous partners, the romance was short-lived, and they are not currently dating. 8 Jose San Miguel Jose and his wife Rachel originally chose to stay together but after sharing that they had broken up after filming MAFS before later getting back together, they announced via US Weekly that they had filed for divorce and would be officially parting ways. He has since continued working as a Mission Flight Specialist for NASA and keeps in contact with other season 13 husbands. Avid investigative MAFS fans have taken notice of a new woman in a few of his Instagram posts and while he hasn’t explicitly or publicly confirmed the nature of their relationship, he has responded to fans’ comments letting them know that is happy with his life and is continuing to move forward since his divorce. 7 Rachel Gordillo Rachel Gordillo hasn’t slowed down her life since her time on the popular reality TV show. After filming and later going through her divorce, she’s stayed close to her season 13 costars Johnny and Brett and has also formed a strong bond with Myrla. When she’s not in Houston, Rachel is traveling all over the world and chronicling her adventures on Instagram and in her personal blog, “Booked at First Sight.” She also doesn’t shy away from her experience on MAFS and posts an occasional lighthearted reel or TikTok that reflects on her marriage and the feedback she’s received from fans since filming. 6 Gil Cuero Gil was a season 13 MAFS fan-favorite and fans often took his side in the issues he was having in his marriage to Myrla. The experts on the show were hoping that opposites would attract with the two, and while eventually it did, their differing values made it hard for their relationship to last through the difficulties that come with a new marriage after filming the show (via E! News). Now Gil spends a large amount of his time traveling. He’s currently partnering with a travel agency to offer travel experiences to encourage others to travel to vacation destinations curated by the company. While Gil insists that he is happily single and “in a relationship with his passport” (via Instagram), some MAFS have still tried suggesting he “save” former MAFS from their bad relationships, but Gill doesn’t entertain the idea and instead pokes fun at the notion that he should be anyone’s “savior” in videos he posts to his socials. 5 Myrla Feria During the season 13 reunion and the “Where Are They Now?” episode, Johnny and Myrla spoke about the friendship they had formed after filming and how they became closer after her divorce from Gil. Many have speculated about whether their relationship ever became romantic but they both remain adamant that they are just friends and have never dated. Besides Johnny, she’s remained close to Brett and Rachel as well. In her recent Instagram posts, Myrla has teased that she has a new man in her life but has kept his identity fairly secret. She has however openly shared her opinion on the most recent MAFS couples in season 15 via People. 4 Johnny Lam After his split from Bao, Johnny has moved forward. He and Myrla became quick friends after each of their divorces, but he’s been seen on Instagram hanging out with the women who were on his season (of course with the exception of his ex-wife Bao), and recently met up with Myrla while traveling in Europe (via Instagram). Johnny also remains friends with some of his male costars as well. Just this past February, he and Jose posted about attending a Houston Live Stock Show and Rodeo event together (per Instagram). The season 13 alumnus returned to MAFS for the season 15 kickoff special where he had quite a bit to say about the relationship that formed between his ex-wife and another husband from the show. 3 Bao Huong Hoang After decision day, Bao and Johnny divorced, and she began dating her season 13 costar Zack Freeman who had previously been married to Michaela Clark. The relationship caused quite a bit of drama before eventually ending due to more cheating allegations that were brought up against Zack according to US Weekly. Bao is now focusing on her work at MD Anderson Cancer Center and is spending lots of time with her family and with her dog. 2 Zack Freeman Zack and Michaela were not the best couplings made on MAFS and fans found it hard to root for them. While Zack was portrayed in a better light than Michaela, fans could tell that from the issues they were facing that they would both probably be happier with someone else. Zack said during the season 13 “Where Are They Now?” episode that he could see Bao becoming that happiness but after a few months of dating the two eventually split. The software engineer has since stayed out of the public eye and has only recently returned to Instagram where he has remained relatively quiet and really only pops up in a select few posted photos, posts with his friend, and with fellow season 13 cast mate, Ryan. 1 Michaela Clark Michaela chose not to attend the overnight outing with the other cast members at the official close of the Houston season. She stated that she has had absolutely no contact with Zack since their divorce even though she would have wanted to clear the air. She was seen as a villain during the season due to some of her outbursts of frustration when it came to her relationship, but she says that she wants to work on herself and move forward with her healing for a brighter future. While she is still healing from her experience on the show, she hasn’t completely put it behind her and still keeps in contact with other members of the Houston cast, most of them being the other women as well as Johnny. Young Garden Club News The Young Witness
Young Garden Club News – The Young Witness https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/young-garden-club-news-the-young-witness/ Steve Corkery of Stephen Corkery Horticultural was the guest speaker at the September Young Garden Club meeting. Young Garden Club president Joy presenting Steve Corkery with a thank you gift. Photo supplied. Steve has been involved in gardening since he was very young. His father had a nursery in Edward Street. He himself also worked in a garden in Sydney prior to working for the Young Council “Parks and Gardens” for thirty (30) years During that time the Chinese Tribute Gardens were established as was the Carrington Park Garden. Seven years ago Steve went into business for himself and now has six (6) employees and 260 customers. His business offers all garden work including lawns, trees, slashing, mowing, pruning, weeding as well as whatever else is needed for garden maintenance. He, his wife and three children live in Young on a five acre property at the Wombat Road. He referred to technology and modern gardening as “bulldozing”, causing damage to the soil and the environment. In other words growing food and plants the industrial way has devastated the climate and the planet. Steve’s wife studies and is passionate about Microbiology and the microbial life in the soil. Using her knowledge regarding the connection between soil health and human health she produces healthy nutritious vegetables, fruit and other edible plants. They both believe in working with the soil and making sure it is healthy. Steve encourages composting and mulching, which increases productivity and the health of plants as well as the number of essential microbes. Asked what he does if clients want him or his workers to use sprays, Steve said that he would use “Slasher”, which is not as harsh as other chemicals. The soil is made up of several layers called Horizones. The first layer is what we call the Top Soil. It is a mixture of sand, silt, clay and humus. Humus is rich, highly decomposed organic matter mostly made up of dead plants, crushed leaves, twigs and dead insects. In this top layer is where very many small animals like earth worms, moles, insects, bacteria and fungi live. They break down the material in the soil into nutrients for the plants and trees. Worms are especially important because they dig through the soil and give the plant roots places to grow and make spaces for water and air to get in the soil. Loam is the ideal soil for most plants. It has a balance of the three mineral particles that are needed (nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium), and is rich in Humus. Loamy soil also has a heathy balance of sand, silt and clay. It holds plenty of moisture and drains well so enough air can reach the roots. Microbiology is the study of all living organisms that are too small to be seen with the naked eye. Garden Microbiology is an essential part of all gardening. From large commercial farms to backyard vegie patches. It is most important for producing delicious nutrient- rich food. So garden Microbiology is a combination between roots, soil and microbes. The three are needed to work together for a successful growing process. The microbes to help breakdown and absorb nutrients. So whatever we put on the soil, like plant material, compost, mulch or fertiliser is broken down by microbes and then absorbed into the plants. The nutrients the plants absorb are passed to us when we eat them. It is easy to see that what we put into the soil is of the utmost importance for keeping it and us healthy. The connection between soil health and human health is undeniable. The next garden club meeting will be held on Wednesday the 5th of October. The venue is 27 Campbell Street. The guest speaker will be Glynis Buck. Glynis is an experienced Horticulturist and Garden Designer. She will be talking about her work and showing slides of gardens that she has designed. Everyone is welcome to come and join us in ” Friendship Through Gardens”. For information contact Moya on 0413 853 642 or Helenie on 0427 710 777. 2022 Presidents Cup Scores, Results: United States Clinches Ninth Straight Trophy As Jordan Spieth Stars – CBS Sports https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/2022-presidents-cup-scores-results-united-states-clinches-ninth-straight-trophy-as-jordan-spieth-stars-cbs-sports/ Though it appeared as if it might be a close race a few times Sunday, the United States ultimately prevailed with relative ease at the 2022 Presidents Cup to clinch a ninth straight trophy in the biannual event. The Americans’ status was never truly in doubt despite the International team pushing the hosts on Saturday and getting off to a hot start Sunday when the 12 singles matches were played to close out four days of action at Quail Hollow Golf Club. After Jordan Spieth, Patrick Cantlay and Tony Finau got the first three full singles victories for the U.S. — Sam Burns tossed in a half point by tying Hideki Matsuyama — Xander Schauffele snagged the winning point by beating Corey Conners to get the U.S. to 15.5 points with several matches still in progress. It’s less surprising that the U.S. won than it is that it took the Americans so long to achieve victory. Early in the week, it looked as if captain Davis Love III’s squad might have an opportunity to end the event Saturday before singles action even started; however, Trevor Immelman’s International side went to work late on Day 3 and took some of the American horses the distance on Sunday to at least make the last 24 hours of play interesting. The bounce-back effort from the International team also kept the U.S. from winning 20 points at the Presidents Cup for the first time since a total of 30 points became available. That potential looked possible — perhaps even probable — after the Americans held an 8-2 lead through the first two days. Despite the U.S. having won the Presidents Cup, play remains ongoing with multiple singles matches still wrapping up. Photo: IC China’s first metaverse major was set up at a university in East China’s Jiangsu Province in the hope of training more talents in line with the needs of enterprises in metaverse-related sectors.  The School of Artificial Intelligence (School of Future Technology) of Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology in Nanjing, Jiangsu, renamed its Information Engineering Department to Metaverse Engineering Department on Friday, becoming the first university department named after the metaverse in China.  Pan Zhigeng, dean of the School of Artificial Intelligence (School of Future Technology), told the Global Times on Sunday that the renamed department will be integrated with more metaverse-related courses and disciplines to train more talents in line with the needs of enterprises in metaverse-related sectors.  According to Pan, the metaverse is the integration of a vast range of technologies and applications such as Internet of Things (IoT), block chain, artificial intelligence and smart healthcare. Talents trained at the department can meet the demands of companies in a variety of sectors including smart healthcare, smart education and digital tourism.  The new department will also cooperate deeply with metaverse-related enterprises to further promote the integration of education and production, Pan said, noting that the department is also planning to jointly train students of master’s degrees, PhD holders and postdoctoral fellows with The Hong Kong Polytechnic University.  The renamed department immediately sparked heated discussions online with many internet users wondering about what courses will be offered and what kind of talents will be trained.  According to Pan, it is expected that more talents with specific skills needed by metaverse-related sectors will be trained.  The School of Artificial Intelligence is determined to establish three research teams including the Metaverse Research Institute, the Smart Meteorological Research Institute and the Smart Medical Research Institute.  Among them, the Metaverse Research Institute co-established with Yalong Intelligent Equipment Group Co this August will be focused on the smart education sector.  For some scenarios where physical operation cannot be conducted, such as aircraft cockpit, the working environment can be simulated through technology to improve training efficiency.  Besides, since tombs have become more and more expensive in recent years, people can sweep the tomb in the metaverse in the future, Peng said.

Geneverse HomePower ONE PRO 400w SolarPower 2 Review: Power For The Average Person Techaeris
Geneverse HomePower ONE PRO 400w SolarPower 2 Review: Power For The Average Person Techaeris
Geneverse HomePower ONE PRO + 400w SolarPower 2 Review: Power For The Average Person – Techaeris https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/geneverse-homepower-one-pro-400w-solarpower-2-review-power-for-the-average-person-techaeris/ Getting power to essential electrical devices when needed can make a difference in an emergency, a power outage, or even a weekend getaway. It can help you make a meal, sleep at night with your c-pap machine, keep your oxygen machine running, keep lights on, heat going or keep the fridge cold. There are hundreds of reasons why portable power stations, or solar generators as some call them, are quickly becoming more of a necessity than a luxury. For instance, we currently have a vast fire 60 miles from my house. Due to high winds and dry conditions, the power company shut off power to 40,000 people until conditions improve. This is where portable power solutions come in handy. Geneverse has launched two new options to help keep you up and running, the HomePower ONE PRO and the HomePower TWO PRO. The difference comes down to capacity, rated power, and surge power. We will be looking at the HomePower ONE PRO unit and the kit that ships with a pair of 200w portable fold-out solar panels that they dub their SolarPower 2. Let’s get to it. HomePower ONE PRO Specifications The Geneverse HomePower ONE PRO has the following features and specifications: Battery Specs Capacity: 1210Wh Type: Lithium Iron Phosphate (LiFePO4/LFP) Cycle Life: ≥3000 cycles Outputs AC Output: 3X 120v outlets powered by a 1200W sine-wave inverter with a surge rating of 2400W. USB-A Fast Charge: 2X QC 3.0 USB-A: Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0, 5-6.5V/3A, 6.5-9V/2A, 9-12V/1.5A USB-C Output: 2X USB-C: PD 100W, 5V/3A, 9V/3A, 12V/3A, 15V/3A, 20V/5A, 100W Max Inputs/Charging AC Charging Input:  800W Max, 9.5A Solar Charging Input: Supports 17.5V-54V, 10.5A, 400W Max each (21A, 800W in total) Car Charging Input: Supports 11.6V-17.5V, 8A Max each (16A Max in total) Charge Controller: Built-In MPPT (Maximum Power Point Tracking) Additional Details Charge Time: AC 1.5 hours to 80%, 2.5 hours to 100%. Solar (800W input) 1.5 hours to 80%, 2.5 hours to 100%. Car Outlet 11.5 hours to 80%, 14.5 hours to 100%. Connection: Wi-Fi Net Weight: Approx. 38lbs Dimension: L 17.83″ x W 11.02″ x H 11.79″ Operating Temperature (Charging): 32°F ~ 104°F Operating Temperature (Discharging): 14°F ~ 104°F Safety Protection Over Charge Protection Over-Discharge Protection Short Circuit Protection Over Current Protection Over Voltage Protection Over Temperature Protection What’s in the Box 1X HomePower PRO Backup Battery Power Station 1X AC Charging Cable 1X Car Charging Cable 1X Accessory Case 1X User Manual Design (HomePower ONE PRO) The Geneverse HomePower ONE PRO design is similar to many brands on the market. Across the front, you find your information screen on the top left. It is bright, clear, and easy to read. You will find all the usual bits of information from battery charge percentage, input and output watts, and approximate hours remaining at the current power draw. To the right of the display, you have two buttons, one for turning the display on or off and one for the light. The light on the Geneverse HomePower ONE PRO is one of the largest ones I have personally seen. It measures roughly 4.62″ X 2.25″ and offers three lighting options. Low uses 3w of power and gives plenty of light for a small room. High uses 7w of power and easily lights a master bedroom or small living room. The third option is SOS; this also uses 7w of power, and the light flashes SOS in mores code. Being as bright as it is, the SOS function in low light could help rescuers find you quite easily. Geneverse HomePower ONE PRO Next, we have your DC outputs. You have your two QC 3.0 USB-A ports with your two USB-C PD 100W ports below them. To the right is your power button for operating the DC ports. There is a small light on the button, so you can see whether it is on or off. You find another small power button to turn the inverter and AC plugs off and on to the right of the DC ports. To the right of the button are your three AC plugs which are 120v outlets powered by a 1200W sine-wave inverter with a surge rating of 2400W. The sides of the unit offer tucked-in handle’s to help you transport it to where you need it. Below the handles are your fan vents to keep the internal electrical components cool while in use and while charging. On the rear, your charging ports are covered by a small rubber door. The right side is your AC connection, and the left side is your car/solar input ports. The top is concaved slightly around the edges and flat in the center. It appears that it is designed for stacking multiple units if needed, or at the very least, better storage and transportation. It does make for a great flat spot to put your phone, tablet, or laptop while charging. I am surprised with the flat design that they didn’t add a wireless charger for your phone. The bottom offers up two large rubber feet that prevent it from sliding around as well as protection against scratching surfaces you may set the unit on. Ease of Use (HomePower ONE PRO) One of the great things about power stations is how easy they are to use as a whole. The Geneverse HomePower ONE PRO is as easy to use as the outlets in your house. You are off to the races if you can plug in a toaster and hit a power button. They didn’t overly complicate the front of the device; all the ports are clearly labeled and easy to access. In the HomePower ONE PRO box, you get the carry case for the cables to charge it via AC (wall outlet) or DC (12v cigarette plug). Plugging the device to charge is just as straightforward as connecting devices. The AC cord measured in at 15 feet, and the DC plug measured in at 7 feet. Both are plenty long enough to reach an outlet without much effort. In our case, we also received a pair of SolarPower 2 solar panels. They came with their own proprietary cables in the carry bags of each panel. The display gives you all the information you will need to know at a glance. The center of the smart display shows you a battery percentage in digital form as well as a blue circle that depletes as your battery drains. You get hours remaining estimation, watts out, watts in, hours until fully charged estimation, and Wi-Fi and Bluetooth icons for connectivity. You will also see indicators if the temp gets too low, too high, or if there was a malfunction in the unit. I took the HomePower ONE PRO over to a few friends’ houses who are less than technical, and none of them had any issues making it function or any trouble understanding what the display was telling them. Performance (HomePower ONE PRO) With a rated power on the inverter at 1200W and a surge of 2400W, you are going to get pretty solid performance for most of your base needs. Obviously, the needs of each person can vary widely, and even the needs on a day-to-day basis can vary. In my case, I have two primary uses for this type of system, power outage/emergency and camping. I need the system to be safe, easy to use, and reliable. The ONE PRO has a lot of safety features built-in. Some are a little more difficult to test as a general consumer. I did what I figured might happen, though. For instance, it has overcharge safety protection. I left it plugged in for a few days and never had overheating issues or anything weird happen. I drained it to zero and was able to charge it without issue. I also purposely attempted to run electronics that I knew were over the 1200W rated continuous power, and the ONE PRO didn’t hesitate to shut down to protect itself. I am confident that the other safety features work as designed. The HomePower ONE PRO offers an ACPS (Automatic Continuous Power System) feature. This allows the ONE PRO to charge the battery at the same time you are powering your devices. I plugged a fan in, then plugged in the ONE PRO and turned the fan on. The battery started charging without issue, and ACPS appeared on its display. I unplugged the ONE PRO, and the fan continued without fail. I also opened the app and turned off charging from AC to make sure the fan would stay powered, and it did. From there, I made sure the mobile app would switch the AC ports off and on. It worked exactly as it should. If the power went out, the fridge would be the first thing on my mind. Food is expensive, and losing everything in my fridge/freezer would be expensive to replace. I own a Hisense French Door Fridge/Freezer and figured I should have no issue powering it for a day. After digging into the specs of the fridge, I learned that it chews through power. I obviously didn’t think about that when I bought it. I ran the fridge for 4 hours and saw fluctuations from 4W-277W. According to Hisense, the average hourly watt consumption should be around 72W an hour, and it seems like I was about 70W. If that is the only thing running and we aren’t opening and closing it too many times, the HomePower ONE PRO should be able to run the fridge for roughly 14 hours without additional power inputs. With any luck, I’ll have some sunshine and can feed it solar power too. Other kitchen items tested to keep the family going were pretty basic gadgets that I would most likely use if the power was out. I made some toast in the toaster and got a rating of 792W. I made a fried egg on a small electric griddle from Wal-Mart and used 516W. I also made some rice in the pressure cooker that pulled 909W and drained roughly 15% of the battery. I gave the AirFryer a shot, but it pulled over the 1200w and shut down as I had anticipated. Anything that generates heat will use a lot of power. While some of those numbers seem like a lot, like the toaster, it is only running for a few minutes. Yes, it pulled the ONE PRO down a few percent on the charge, but I could make a lot of toast before it died. Moving to the living room, the HomePower ONE...

Shiba Inu Price Drops Another 6% Today But Heres A New Meme Coin Set To Explode Cryptonews
Shiba Inu Price Drops Another 6% Today But Heres A New Meme Coin Set To Explode Cryptonews
Shiba Inu Price Drops Another 6% Today – But Here’s A New Meme Coin Set To Explode – Cryptonews https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/shiba-inu-price-drops-another-6-today-but-heres-a-new-meme-coin-set-to-explode-cryptonews/ Disclaimer: The Industry Talk section features insights by crypto industry players and is not a part of the editorial content of Cryptonews.com. Shiba Inu has dropped by 6.4% in the past 24 hours. SHIB’s 24-hour dip adds to the intense bearish pressure that has seen it lose 19% of its value over the past month. At the time of writing, SHIB was trading at $0.00001124. SHIB drops by 6% today Shiba Inu seems to be affected by the bearish sentiment pushing its price to lower lows. During the past 24 hours, SHIB has recorded $433 million in trading volumes, with its market cap dropping slightly to $6.63 billion. SHIB fell off the top-ten ranking of the largest cryptocurrency by market cap a few months back, and it now ranks as the 12th largest cryptocurrency by this metric. SHIB recorded a massive bull run towards the end of last year and reached a new all-time high. However, it has since dropped by 86% from these levels. Over the past few weeks, SHIB has struggled to find a stable foothold as it suffers from the same volatility that has affected the broader crypto market. However, things seemed to be looking up for the meme coin after it managed to stay above the $0.00001 level for two months. SHIB’s price has been hovering above the $0.00001 support level for a while now. It went past this level towards the end of July, and the action saw it make an over 50% upswing. It sustained the uptrend for a while before sellers entered the market. SHIB’s downtrend was confirmed in mid-September. If the current bearish trend continues, SHIB’s price will drop below the $0.00001 levels and test support at $0.0000093 and $0.0000083. While such a decline could appear bearish in the short-term, it could create a long-term bull trend as traders jump in to buy the meme coin at low prices. The Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) line is sitting at the signal line, showing that bulls and bears are fighting for control. The Relative Strength Index of 46 shows that the bullish sentiment is dying as the selling pressure continues. Therefore, SHIB could continue trading in the red zone for the short term. However, the RSI could also show that a trend reversal is on the way. In this case, SHIB could jump to test the next resistance at $0.000012 and $0.000015. However, this jump could also rely upon broader market support and positive developments in the ecosystem. Tamadoge is set to explode While SHIB appears bearish in the short term, Tamadoge, the newest meme coin in the market, could make notable gains following its upcoming listing on OKX exchange. TAMA will go live on OKX on Tuesday, September 27. Tamadoge rose to popularity after completing one of the most successful presales in crypto history. The presale raised $19 million, ending way ahead of schedule. Tamadoge’s presale was more successful than the Ethereum 2014 Initial Coin Offering. Tamadoge is a meme coin that has also adopted the buzz of the play-to-earn sector. The Tamaverse is a virtual world where players can use their Tamadoge pets to fight with other players and receive rewards in TAMA. Unlike other meme coins, TAMA has robust tokenomics with a fixed supply of 2 billion coins. Half of the total supply was sold during the presale. Xander Schauffele celebrates after he defeated Corey Conners to clinch another Presidents Cup victory for the United States. Chris Carlson/Associated Press CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jordan Spieth capped a perfect week at the Presidents Cup and the Americans made it nine straight victories against an International team depleted by defections to Saudi-funded LIV Golf. The Internationals showed plenty of fight. They just don’t have a cup to show for it. That stays squarely in the hands of an American team that was coming off a record romp over Europe in the Ryder Cup last year. Xander Schauffele delivered the clinching point when he made a 6-foot par putt on the 18th hole for a 1-up victory over Corey Conners. That gave the Americans 15 1/2 points with five matches still on the course. Conners and Taylor Pendrith, the only Canadians on the team, were the only players who failed to contribute a point. Conners three-putted from 25 feet on the 17th with a chance to square the match, and he hit into a bunker from the fairway on the 18th. Spieth made putts from all over Quail Hollow for a 4-and-3 win over Cameron Davis that kept the Internationals, in need of their greatest Sunday singles performance, from gaining any early momentum. Spieth became only the sixth player to win all five matches in the Presidents Cup, winning all four of his team matches with Justin Thomas. Spieth, a three-time major champion and former No. 1 player in the world, first qualified for U.S. teams when he was 20. But he had never won a singles match – 0-3 in the Presidents Cup, 0-3-1 in the Ryder Cup. And then he fell 2 down after two holes before turning it around in a big way. “I was more nervous than I should have been because I wanted to get that monkey off my back,” Spieth said. “When you get off early on a Sunday, they’re looking for red on the board. And it feels good to provide it.” Thomas was trying to join Spieth at 5-0, but he lost to Si Woo Kim in a match that came down to 10-foot birdie putts on the last hole. No matter. When Patrick Cantlay whipped Adam Scott and Tony Finau rallied from 2 down to beat Pendrith, the outcome was as inevitable as it usually is. The Americans improved to 12-1-1 in a series that began in 1994. Their only loss was at Royal Melbourne in 1998, and there was a tie in South Africa in 2003. The Internationals fell behind 8-2 after the opening two days with a team that featured eight rookies, half of them replacing players such as British Open champions Cameron Smith and Louis Oosthuizen, who were not eligible after the PGA Tour suspended them for signing with the lucrative rival tour. One of those rookies, Sebastian Munoz of Colombia, took out world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler and went unbeaten for the week at 2-0-1. Another was 20-year-old Tom Kim, the fresh face of these matches, who gave the Internationals hope on Saturday with a performance as big as his personality. Over four days, however, the Americans were too strong and too deep. Invalid username/password. Please check your email to confirm and complete your registration. Vet Tech Talks Career At Sutherland Event | News – Nwestiowa.com https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/vet-tech-talks-career-at-sutherland-event-news-nwestiowa-com/ SUTHERLAND—A group of N’West Iowa students had a heart-to-heart meeting with a dog named Hazel and a kitten named Ferdinand during Precision Agriculture and Animal Science Days Sept. 8 near Sutherland. Iowa State University Extension and Outreach hosted the three-day agriculture- and animal-focused event Tuesday-Thursday, Sept. 6-8, at the Northwest Iowa Research and Demonstration Farm. The pupils got to meet the young animals and compare their heartbeats during a morning session led by certified veterinary technician Tiffany Van Engen and retired Sioux Center veterinarian Fred Sick. Van Engen, who has worked at Central Veterinary Clinic in Sioux Center since 2011, spoke about her career and what interested her in pursuing it as her full-time job. “I’ve always enjoyed having pets growing up and enjoy having them even now,” she said. “It becomes more and more apparent to me how important it is to have that bond with those pets.” Van Engen recalled getting a seasonal job at an equine vet clinic while still in high school and how she originally had her sights set on attending veterinary school. From working at the clinic, however, she eventually gravitated toward the technician side of veterinary medicine and decided to pursue technician school. Unlike veterinary school — which takes three years to complete and requires already having a four-year undergraduate degree — technician school involves an intensive, two-year associate program followed by successful completion of a certification exam. She discussed the differences between the role of a veterinarian and a vet technician. A veterinarian examines animals, conducts lab work and figures out what’s wrong. A technician checks up on the animals while they are kept at the clinic, ensures they are comfortable, administers medication and communicates with their owners about their animals’ conditions. “I get to do a lot with surgery,” Van Engen added. “We do surgeries all five days of the week at the clinic I work at. I’m the one that gets to decide what kind of medication, how much medication for anesthesia, how to put them under for anesthesia, how to keep them maintained sleeping for surgery, prepping them for surgery and caring for them after they wake up.” As a vet technician, Van Engen also answers questions from pet owners about their animals’ behavior if they are having trouble getting their pets to act properly. “I do a lot of potty training advice. Potty training a puppy is not as easy as it sounds,” she said. Besides being able to work with and care for animals every day, Van Engen enjoys the close relationship she develops with clients in a small-town atmosphere. “I know a lot of my clients outside of work. Some I even went to school with or my kids are friends with their kids,” she said. “That’s really rewarding for me, to be able to send them out the door with a healthy, happy pet and know that they’re having a good relationship with them at home.” This story was first published in the Sept. 17, 2022, print edition of The South O’Brien Sun.

This Rensselaer County Town Boasts; Only One On Earth! True? – Q105.7 https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/this-rensselaer-county-town-boasts-only-one-on-earth-true-q105-7/ While on one of our daytrips, my girlfriend and I passed a road sign for the Rensselaer County town of Stephentown, New York. The sign reads, Welcome to the only Stephentown on earth! Is that possible? How could this be the only Stephentown on earth? I had to do some research. Hold up New York, we might not have the ONLY Stephentown on earth. If that is the case the road signs in town would have to come down. The town would have to come up with a new slogan and everything. While researching the validity of this claim I did find a Stephentown in another country but something doesn’t add up. More research needed to be done. Photo – Lainie Rae Photo – Lainie Rae loading… I was able to locate a Stephentown in the Exuma District of the Bahamas. Here’s the catch. This town in the Bahamas is referred to as Stephentown but it’s actual name is Steventon. Phew, that was close! It is indeed accurate that Stephentown, New York is the only Stephentown on earth! The town used to be called Jericho Hallow but that’s when it belonged to Massachusetts. When New York took over it was renamed Stephentown after Stephen Van Rensselaer. Photo – Lainie Rae Photo – Lainie Rae loading… Every town has their own thing. Troy, NY is the ‘Collar City’, Schenectady is ‘Electric City and, for Stephentown, New York, their thing is being one of a kind, literally the only one on earth. No Museum-Hopping: See How Indigenous Art Is Made By The Villages Of Boruca Mask-Makers – TheTravel https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/no-museum-hopping-see-how-indigenous-art-is-made-by-the-villages-of-boruca-mask-makers-thetravel/ Art and nature lovers visit the Boruca village in Puntarenas, where Boruca masks were born, and watch artisans create wonder. When people think of Costa Rica, they think of beaches, waterfalls, and immersion in natural wonder. They may not immediately think of viewing art or spending a day meeting local wood carvers. Yet there is a very old indigenous art form making a vibrant comeback across the country. Better than museum hopping, art lovers and nature lovers can visit the Boruca village in Puntarenas, see the place where Boruca masks were born, and watch artisans in the process of making these distinctly beautiful and unique pieces. Venue: Boruca Village Activity: Boruca Masks, Weaving, Drums Lunch: Typical Costa Rican Food $10, Kids Eat Free For $10, they can also get a hearty Costa Rican lunch (kids under 5 eat free) and learn about the history of Costa Rica’s native cultures, all inside the same natural splendor that provides these artists their inspiration. What Are Boruca Masks? The Ticos (what Costa Ricans call themselves) are deeply proud of their wondrous countryside. The coasters, keychains, towels, and tote bags you find at souvenir stands all boast Blue Morpho butterflies, sloths, monkeys, iguanas, parrots, and other iconic flora and fauna. In shops everywhere in recent years are the light, colorful balsa wood masks of the Boruca. The faces on these masks meld with the forest, become the animals and reach and stretch to magical proportions. They are a mind-bending vision of organic life, an unreality grounded in Mother Earth. Warriors peer out from behind a tree frog. Toucans melt into waterfalls. Jungle cats with six-inch fangs are covered in hummingbirds. Some “masks” have no faces at all but simply depict the thickness of the rainforest, a pod of dolphins leaping through the ocean, or an owl perched on the branch of a tree. Each piece is handcrafted and unique. History Of The Masks These wall decorations emerge from the generations-past tradition of ceremonial mask-making. Boruca people once thrived in the southwestern part of Costa Rica. When the Spanish invaded South and Central America way back in the 1500s, they created masks (quite different from their modern-day counterparts) from natural elements to channel the energies of the animals and chase the conquistadors away. These masks were made only once a year for ceremonies of power and unity. The old masks use a wider variety of materials to create the effect of a face peering out from under the tail feathers of a Scarlet Macaw or a man’s eyes appearing under a crown of leopard print horns. As tourism spread, the women of the Boruca Tribe prompted the men to carve and paint the masks as a trade for international visitors. All the features are painted on wood, the artist finding a distinctive shape in the peculiarities of the individual log. In the traditional Costa Rican aesthetic, this art celebrates the connection between human, animal, and plant life by merging them into a vibrant, powerful amalgam. Mask makers work on their own schedules and are often out of their homes. They begin by selecting balsa wood and then making sketches of what they want to carve directly onto the wood. From there, artists work in their own time to whittle the wood down to its final form and then begin painting. Mask making is traditionally male activity, but it is becoming less so over time. Women often paint the sculpture after men carve them. For original artwork, the Boruca masks are also affordable, ranging from $50 for a small piece to $300 for one that could command the room. Unique Art, Large: $300 Unique Art, Medium: $150 Unique Art, Small: $50 Visiting Boruca The Boruca Village is a 145-mile car ride from the capital city of San Jose. It is not a typical tourist destination or part of a high-end tourist package, so a rental or taxi will be necessary. Visiting Boruca puts you in the heart of pre-Columbian culture, allowing you to see how the Costa Rica natives preserve their elder’s practices in a fast-changing world. The best time to visit the Boruca Village is the dry season December through April, when roads are more accessible, and visitors can see the natural beauty without tracking in mud. Of particular interest is December 30th to January 2nd, when they hold the Baille de Los Diablitos festival or “Dance of the Little Devils.” This festival attracts hundreds of tourists, celebrating the history of the conflict between the Spaniards and native tribes, using traditional masks and exciting dances. You can see a video about it here. If you can’t be there for New Year, Boruca welcomes visitors year-round to take a self-guided village tour or set up a special tour or private carving demonstration. Other Things To See In Boruca If you make the trip out to Boruca, you can also take away two other types of indigenous arts—drums and hand-woven goods. Like the masks, drums are made from balsa wood or cedar, and the skins of wild peccary or cows. The woven materials use items directly from the forest, including leaves, clay, and even mollusks, to give the threads a vibrant color before turning them into bags and rugs, and a variety of textiles. Weaving is traditionally female, but even here, gender roles are shifting. Where Else To See Boruca Masks Art galleries and other venues throughout Costa Rica sell Boruca Masks and other indigenous arts. If you are flying into San Jose Airport, it’s worth stopping at the Galeria Namu, near the Jade Museum, to check out its collection of Boruca Masks and indigenous arts. In Dominical, you can find them at The Boruca Gallery Gift Shop. In the mountains, you can find them at the Coco Loco Art Studio and Gallery in La Fortuna. On the northwest beaches, try The Palms Hotel in Playa Del Coco, about an hour from Tamarindo. You might also find them in surprising places like farmers’ markets, souvenir shops, and coffee houses. Like the sighting of Blue Morphos, jaguars, iguanas, and other wildlife that inspire this art, the masks themselves can be found peeking out of many corners.

Businesses Urged To Turn On Same-Day Delivery Before November Online Sales Peak – Tech Business News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/businesses-urged-to-turn-on-same-day-delivery-before-november-online-sales-peak-tech-business-news/ Australia’s online shopping industry is reportedly now worth more than $47 billion. According to a recently released study, the market size has grown by 8.9 per cent in 2022, proving that the Australian appetite for online shopping continues to soar. The November online sales days – Click Frenzy (8-10 November 2022), Black Friday (25 November 2022) and Cyber Monday (28 November 2022) – are now considered a huge retail opportunity for businesses of all sizes – not just major retailers. Especially following the Covid-19 pandemic – when online shopping skyrocketed to unprecedented levels – Australians today have clearly embraced the convenience of online shopping, with same-day delivery services in large part responsible for what is now considered a permanent change in Australian shopping habits. Sherpa – an Australian start-up founded in 2014 – is the country’s largest same-day delivery provider by volume of deliveries. Essentially a technology platform that connects independent courier professionals with businesses, Sherpa specialises in same-day delivery. CEO of Sherpa, Duncan Brett, says the company is gearing-up for another spike in demand this November online sales period. “Same day delivery is here to stay and businesses that aren’t embracing the benefits of e-commerce and same-day delivery are simply missing out on lucrative opportunities,” says Mr Brett. According to Statista, 62 per cent of Gen Z consumers intended to shop on the latest Black Friday and Cyber Monday sales, while almost half of Gen Y, more than a quarter of Gen Z and nine per cent of Baby Boomers planned to check out online. “We’re forecasting big demand for the end-of-year online sales period this year in particular, before we again see a boom in same-day delivery demand in the lead-up to Christmas. “Consumers today generally have a mentality that they “want it now”. Because Sherpa is synonymous with same-day delivery and we have set the timeframe bar so high, we are delivering a lot more during key retail periods, working with a lot more businesses and covering a much wider area of the country than ever before.” “Sherpa now has more than 70,000 Australian business customers – from big retailers such as Woolworths, Dan Murphy’s and Chemist Warehouse, to SMEs trading across a spectrum of categories.” “We’ve completed more than seven-million same day deliveries, we have a national fleet of more than 11,000 drivers, and we operate across 21 Australian cities… and that has all happened in less than a decade!” adds Mr Brett. According to KPMG, 80 per cent of retail CEOs say customer expectations are increasing around delivery; they want more delivery options and online delivery speed.  Additionally, according to Invespcro, 80 per cent of shoppers want same-day shipping, while 61 per cent want their packages even faster — within 1-3 hours of placing an order. While only a few retailers were able to offer ultra-fast delivery in the past, that has all changed as a result of the gig economy and platform business model adopted by companies such as Sherpa. Sherpa’s suggested seven starter considerations for businesses that aren’t offering same-day delivery are: Make the call sooner rather than later! Your Go/No decision point on whether to enable same day delivery for this year’s November online sales period is on the verge of crunch time. Whether it’s to launch with a bang or just to dip your toe in the water by shoring up carrier redundancy during the peak online sales, you still have options available but don’t leave it too long to make the call. Assess whether your order management system supports a same-day delivery service. Click & Collect is the litmus test here – if you already have it in place, you are halfway there in terms of the internal processes required. Consider how you can can best fulfil the service. Do you have the space and staff bandwidth to deliver from your store network or perhaps an alternative arrangement such as directly from your distribution centre is more fitting to your business? Determine how you will manifest the delivery orders. Your budget for technology will likely steer your decision. It could be by manually uploading onto a web portal, or via a middleware platform or through API (Application Programming Interface). Set your service radius – How far from your store or distribution centre will your same day delivery service cover? If you want to on-demand deliver within a couple of hours, this will be a shorter distance by necessity than if you deliver up to 9pm and have most of the day for the delivery driver to travel further afield. Determine how much to charge your customers. Same-day delivery is a premium option, above your traditional standard and express services and thus, should be charged as such; potentially up to 25 per cent more than express. Your free delivery shopping basket threshold should be higher too. Plan your means of promoting the service. Will it be shouted about on your homepage and across your social media channels or simply kept to the ‘Shipping & Delivery’ section of your website to start? Should you consider advertising or PR activities to promote the service? Opioid Epidemic Effects On Children Discussed At Conference Fort Bend Herald
Opioid Epidemic Effects On Children Discussed At Conference – Fort Bend Herald https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/opioid-epidemic-effects-on-children-discussed-at-conference-fort-bend-herald/ HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (AP) — Leaders in the recovery community met in Huntington for a conference to discuss how substance use disorder is causing multigenerational trauma, specifically for West Virginia’s youth. Healthy Connections, an initiative of Marshall Health’s addiction medicine services, was joined by West Virginia Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) Coalition Parents, community members and professionals at the Marshall University Medical Center on Thursday to highlight evidence-based solutions to substance use and trauma. Dubbed “The Kids Aren’t Alright: A Call to Action,” the event was presented to emphasize the mental and physical effects the opioid epidemic is having on the next generation. Discussions pointed to research by Dr. Todd Davies, associate director of research and development in the Division of Addiction Sciences at the Joan C. Edwards School of Medicine, showing area children are experiencing trauma at a higher rate than previously believed, which leads to a higher chance of that person having medical issues in adulthood. Dr. Lyn O’Connell, associate director for the Division of Addiction Sciences, said while the recovery community doesn’t like to frame things in a negative light, the event acted as a call to action. “The kids aren’t all right, but we have the resources, we have the ability, we have the skills, we have the experts, we have the families, we have the people in recovery and we can do a lot,” she said. “But we all need to do it together, and we need to do it as we’re moving forward.” A person with at least four adverse or traumatic experiences is twice as likely to suffer from health complications and stress, which could manifest through things such as drug usage, heart disease, suicide and post-traumatic stress disorder.

While Bitcoin Has Tanked, This Coin Has Risen 300% This Month And Is Still Climbing! – Cryptonews https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/while-bitcoin-has-tanked-this-coin-has-risen-300-this-month-and-is-still-climbing-cryptonews/ Disclaimer: The Industry Talk section features insights by crypto industry players and is not a part of the editorial content of Cryptonews.com. Deciding what to do with your Bitcoin, as prices continue to fall, can be tough. Many believe that the tide will eventually turn and if they hold on for long enough BTC will rise to new heights. The only problem with this is that while waiting for the market to bounce back, your BTC is just sitting there, doing nothing. One increasingly popular answer is ArbiSmart (RBIS), which rose over 100% last week, and is continuing to climb steadily, as the rest of the market falls. The EU authorized project safeguards against crypto market volatility, enabling you to keep hold of your Bitcoin and put it to work earning unmatched profits whichever direction the market shifts. A Shield Against Falling Prices The ArbiSmart ecosystem offers a number of ways to grow your Bitcoin, regardless of market trajectory. Firstly, this summer, ArbiSmart introduced its interest-generating wallet, which supports a huge list of FIAT and cryptocurrencies, from BTC, EUR, and GBP, to BTC, ETH, COMP, APE, SHIB, and many others. The wallet offers the same consistent returns, in a downturn or an upturn, generating industry-high rates of up to 147%. Crypto owners can keep funds securely stored interest-free, but accessible for withdrawal at any time, or decide to lock their funds in an interest-bearing savings plan. They can choose between short-term plans lasting 1, or 3 months and long-term plans lasting 2, 3, or 5 years. The longer the lock on the funds the higher the profits, which are also influenced by the way daily interest is received. Interest can be sent to an available balance, where it is always accessible, or it can be added to the locked balance for a higher return. Interest rates are primarily determined by the wallet holder’s account level, which is based on how much RBIS they own. More RBIS means a higher rate of interest on balances in every supported currency.  If the balance is in RBIS, the returns will be three times higher than for balances in other currencies. If the wallet holder decides to keep their capital in BTC, ETH, or another preferred currency they can still boost their interest rate by choosing to receive just the interest in RBIS. Inevitably, as the new wallet gains traction, in the coming weeks and months, more RBIS will be locked in savings plans for extended periods, leaving general circulation and diminishing the forever capped token supply. Once demand exceeds supply, the RBIS price will rise. This will mean that in addition to profits from savings plans, RBIS owners will enjoy huge capital gains on the climbing token value. Another bear-proof RBIS utility that generates the same consistent passive profits in any market conditions is ArbiSmart’s automated crypto arbitrage platform. The service offers sky-high returns of up to 45% a year, depending on the user’s account level. Crypto arbitrage is an investment strategy that makes money from price disparities across exchanges. These temporary price differences occur frequently, whichever direction the market is moving, often resulting from discrepancies in trading volume between bigger and smaller exchanges. The user just deposits funds that are automatically converted into RBIS and then the algorithm takes over. Integrated with 35 exchanges, it tracks hundreds of coins round the clock to find price differences. It then buys at the lowest price before selling at the highest, for the best possible profit. A Dynamic, Growing Ecosystem The ArbiSmart development team has not been in hibernation during this bear market. In fact, it is in the middle of a massive undertaking. Over the next 4 months a number of new RBIS utilities are being introduced almost simultaneously. These include a mobile application for storing, exchanging, buying, and selling crypto, as well as a completely original DeFi protocol that will offer one-of-a-kind gamification features. Liquidity providers will be rewarded with 0.3% of the fees from each trade plus up to 190,000% annual percentage yields.  This winter the development team will also be launching a marketplace for the purchase and sale of non-fungible tokens (NFT’s), a unique collection of ArbiSmart NFT’s, a cryptocurrency exchange and a gaming metaverse, where participants will be able to buy, develop and sell digital real-estate for real profits. Each of these new additions to the ArbiSmart ecosystem, just like all existing utilities, will require use of the RBIS token. As a result, in addition to earning revenue from staking, savings, trading, gaming, NFT investing, and arbitrage, RBIS owners will be increasing demand for the native token, driving the price higher and boosting their capital gains even further. A Digital Asset on the Rise According to analyst projections, RBIS is expected to rise to just over 40 times its current value by the end of 2022 and it is well on its way. So far this month, RBIS has already soared 300% and shows no signs of slowing down, even as the rest of the market has been sinking. With the new wallet growing its userbase, and multiple new RBIS utilities in the pipeline for the coming months, RBIS is THE coin to watch this autumn and winter. To start profiting before the price skyrockets any higher, open a wallet now!

The film also collected another $10.8 million at the international box office, bringing its global total to $30 million. Despite the film’s Rotten Tomatoes score of 38 percent, moviegoers reacted positively, with the site’s audience score currently at 80 percent. Variety reported that 66 percent of ticket buyers were female, with the majority being between 18 and 34. Per the outlet, Warner Bros., which distributed the $35 million budget movie, said in a statement to the press on Sunday, “We’re enormously proud of this film and are pleased with these results given our modest production budget.” Karla Welch, Wilde’s stylist, celebrated the news with a cheeky post on Instagram. Don’t Worry Darling stars Harry Styles and Florence Pugh as Jack and Alice, a young couple living in the seemingly perfect company town of Victory, Calif., in the 1950s. As cracks begin to surface in their idyllic community, Alice becomes obsessed with the nature of her husband’s work. Wilde’s psychological thriller has generated headlines from the moment it was announced in July 2019. From casting shakeups to an on-set romance, the film kept movie fans and social media spectators abuzz in the months leading up to its release. On Friday, when the movie officially premiered nationwide in theaters, Pugh, 26, marked the moment with a post on Instagram that featured photos from the film’s set. Pugh included a snap of herself and Wilde, 38, dancing together in character. RELATED: A Complete Timeline of the ‘Don’t Worry Darling’ Drama Wilde also celebrated the film’s premiere on social media, sharing a photo of her and Pugh smiling on the set with Styles, 28, and screenwriter Katie Silberman. “Don’t Worry Darling is officially open,” she wrote in the caption. “Aaahhhhhhhh!!!!!!!” Don’t Worry Darling is currently playing in theaters.

AECI CEO Talks Technology, Heat Wave | News | Tahlequahdailypress.com – Tahlequah Daily Press https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/aeci-ceo-talks-technology-heat-wave-news-tahlequahdailypress-com-tahlequah-daily-press/ An Associated Electric Cooperative Inc. leader is explaining the entity’s relationship to Lake Region Electric Cooperative, which serves members in a seven-county area of Northeastern Oklahoma. AECI is part of a three-tiered system serving electric cooperative members with affordable and reliable electricity. The system is not common in the industry, but CEO David Tudor said he doesn’t believe there are any disadvantages to it. The process is structured to allow each tier to focus on its core competencies. “Distribution cooperatives are really good at serving residential and commercial member-owners,” said Tudor. “They don’t have to worry about the transmission because the transmission cooperatives – which own Associated – are good at operating their transmission systems. And Associated doesn’t have to worry about the quality or challenges with respect to transmission; our six transmission cooperatives take care of that.” Americans have seen national headlines about concerns over the reliability of electricity in America. Tudor said reliability issues have been real, as during the past 20 years, a shift has been seen not only due to environmental concerns, but from the push toward renewable resources. But some companies in the utility industry are having to retire baseload power plants not on their own timetables. Tudor said the timetables are pushed by the federal administration due to climate change. The summer heat wave that hit earlier this year made it to be difficult to keep power flowing. Tudor said the company normally sees the hottest temperatures in July and early August, but that happened in the middle of June this year. The biggest challenge AECI faced during the heatwave was the outages – both planned and unplanned – at some of the coal and natural gas power plants. Tudor said the generating fleet is normally able to meet summer and winter energy needs, but units being offline due to forced repairs and planned maintenance left them hardly any room for error. The company relied more on power purchases to supplement and operated in a way to get every megawatt to the generating fleet. AECI members were asked to help conserve electricity during the early summer season. AECI currently uses wind, hydropower, coal and natural gas plants in generating energy. The company expects to add megawatts to its existing fleet for future reliability. Tudor said due to regions retiring baseload power plants, the company staff felt as though there would be a scarce generating capacity in the region. AECI has been adding megawatts to its natural gas fleet to add capacity. Tudor said adding megawatts natural gas is not only beneficial for company members, but the environment as well, because it’s dispatchable and cleaner than coal. To help address the all-time high load growth and the past summer peaks, the company is starting the early phases to add up to 900 megawatts of natural gas generation to its fleet. Tudor said he expects in late 2026 for the new gas generation to be available. AECI signed an agreement this year with a company that develops small nuclear reactors, which has three large developers trying to put the technology online. Tudor said the agreement is being used to help observe the technological process as it develops and later produces. The earliest a unit could be online is 2028. Tudor said while this technology is not a near-term solution, they are staying involved with the project to see its development. “That technology doesn’t exist today, anywhere in the world,” said Tudor. “Companies are retiring coal plants, claiming they will reduce carbon significantly or be carbon-free by a certain date, but they do not have any plan to replace dispatchable megawatts with a technology that is proven.” Tudor said AECI is not against renewable energy but it does oppose less reliable and less affordable decisions for members. “Associated is already a leader in wind development in the Midwest with 1,240 megawatts. The most recent addition of about 470 megawatts came online in 2020. We also have modeled the possibility of adding solar to our portfolio and have been searching for viable sites on our system where we could add solar projects,” said Tudor. “The supply chain shortages and issues with production of solar panels have increased prices significantly and slowed that process down. We think the right thing to do for now is to wait until costs settle down. When it’s the right price and the right place, which means ‘good for members,’ I think you’ll see us pursue some level of solar development.”

Carpet Cleaning Benefits: Steam Cleaning For A Healthy Home – EIN News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/carpet-cleaning-benefits-steam-cleaning-for-a-healthy-home-ein-news/ Carpet Steam Cleaning JP Carpet Cleaning Expert Floor Care Logo Apartment Carpet Cleaning Carpet steam cleaning is a service many have heard of but take for granted. Professional carpet cleaning is essential to keeping the home healthy. Steam cleaning is not just for carpets. Steam cleaning can be used on other surfaces in the house as well, like upholstery and tile.” — Peter, owner and operator of JP Carpet Cleaning Expert Floor Care SHERMAN OAKS, CALIFORNIA, UNITED STATES, September 25, 2022 /EINPresswire.com/ — There are many ways to keep the home looking and feeling fresh, but carpet cleaning is perhaps the most effective. After all, carpets are often neglected – even though they’re one of the most important features of a room. To begin with, carpets trap dirt, dust, pollen spores, and other particles that can cause major problems if left unchecked. If anyone has asthma or other respiratory conditions, these particles can lead to serious health issues over time. Carpets also insulate the home by keeping the heat in during the cold months and vice versa in summer. Unfortunately, this insulation also means that dust mites and pet dander have a cozy place to call home year-round. Unless professional carpet cleaning is scheduled regularly, this buildup can be quite dangerous for anyone who suffers from allergies or asthma. Furthermore, carpets act as soundproofing for our living spaces by absorbing sound vibrations and echoes so that we don’t hear outside noise as much as we would on hardwood floors or tile surfaces. This is especially useful in homes with children or elderly residents who may be sensitive to noise levels at different times of the day. What Is Steam Cleaning? Steam cleaning uses high-pressure and hot water to extract dirt and grime from carpets and rugs. It is considered a deep cleaning process that can remove up to 99% of contaminants from fabrics. This powerful cleaning method uses hot water and cleaning agents to reach deep into the fibers of the carpets and rugs. The combination of pressure and heat makes it the most effective cleaning solution. Steam cleaning uses hot water, a cleaning agent, and a vacuum to clean carpets and upholstery. This eco-friendly, non-toxic method of cleaning does not require the use of harmful chemicals and will not leave behind a residue. Why is Steam Cleaning Important? If there are carpets or area rugs in the house, it’s essential to have them professionally cleaned. While it’s possible to get away with vacuuming regularly, it’s almost impossible to remove all of the dirt, dust mites, and other toxins trapped in the carpet simply by vacuuming. This is particularly problematic for those who suffer from allergies or asthma. While vacuum cleaning can remove surface dust, it can’t remove allergens and bacteria from deep within the fibers of the carpet and padding. Additionally, carpet steam cleaning can be performed on all kinds of carpets. Whether the carpet is made of wool, synthetic, or even specialty carpets, rest assured that professional cleaners have seen it all. Professional carpet steam cleaning companies have the tools and knowledge to clean whatever carpet, upholstery, and tile are within the house. Steam cleaning can also extend the life of the carpets. Regular cleaning will help the carpets last longer. They can also help reduce fading and other issues that can shorten their life span. As mentioned several times already, professional carpet cleaning can help to protect the health of everyone within the home. Dirt, grime, and other toxins can build up in the carpets over time. If the carpet is not deep cleaned regularly, this can be dangerous for the health of anyone and everyone who regularly makes use of these spaces. As Peter from JP Carpet Cleaning Expert Floor Care says, “Steam cleaning is not just for carpets. Steam cleaning can be used on other surfaces in the house as well, like upholstery and tile.” Professional steam cleaning can extend the life of furniture and upholstery. Furniture can become stained easily if it’s not protected. Professional upholstery cleaning can help keep furniture looking new both through the cleaning and through the application of fabric protectors after the steam cleaning. Why Should Carpets Be Professionally Cleaned? Carpets play an important but often unappreciated role in our homes. They help to regulate our indoor climate, shield us from outside noise, and, in the case of area rugs, can even protect our floors from falling debris. Unfortunately, they also trap dirt, grime, and other harmful toxins that may become dangerous if left untreated for too long. There might be some that are tempted to save money by cleaning the carpet themselves, however, this is not recommended. Carpets are often infested with dangerous germs and chemicals that can be harmful to humans. This can be difficult to remove with a simple vacuum and commercial carpet cleaners tend to leave too much soap behind, introducing a slew of other issues. Professional carpet cleaning is a cost-effective way to keep the home clean and healthy. It can extend the life of the carpets, protect the floors, extend the life of furniture and upholstery, and protect the family inside the house against harmful toxins like bacteria and allergens. Make sure to book a carpet cleaning service once every 6-12 months. Niantic Brings Metaverse World-Mapping To Web Browsers Screen Rant
Niantic Brings Metaverse World-Mapping To Web Browsers – Screen Rant https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/niantic-brings-metaverse-world-mapping-to-web-browsers-screen-rant/ Niantic, the company behind Pokémon Go, introduced support for their metaverse world-mapping to the web, which users can access through the browser. Niantic introduced support for its augmented reality world-mapping technology on web browsers. Many companies have been introducing new AR and virtual reality technology that create more ways to make the metaverse more immersive. When additional features become available to creators, there are new possibilities for AR and VR experiences. Advancements in AR and VR rely on both the software needed to create the experiences and the hardware used to track and engage with the interactions. It may be possible that handheld or head-mounted devices will not even be necessary to view virtual objects in the real world. Some large corporations, such as Disney, are working on AR without glasses that could be used in theme park rides and other real-world environments. Niantic, the company behind Pokémon Go, has introduced its AR world-mapping technology Lightship VPS (visual positioning system) to the web, supporting real-world metaverse interactions on the browser. This feature allows developers to build WebAR experiences that can be connected to locations with impressive accuracy and precision. This AR tech from Niantic means virtual experiences can be mapped onto landmarks to showcase immersive effects that can be viewed from the browser without downloading a dedicated app. WebAR Gets Real-World Content Mapping The Lightship VPS world-mapping technology is an asset for developers, but there are some limitations. Although Niantic offers a free tier, some features are exclusive to paid tiers, and there is a potential cost based on the number of active users. Lightship VPS is pretty straightforward to implement for experienced developers. However, it is not as accessible as some of the beginner-friendly AR creation platforms. Even if it is not the right tool to get new AR creators started, introducing this technology to WebAR will bring new possibilities to metaverse interactions for all users. While location-based AR experiences like Pokémon Go are still relatively novel, virtual interactions will be an essential part of the metaverse as consumer-level AR glasses become available. Although it can be somewhat limiting to view AR experiences through the screen of a handheld mobile device, the same interactions become much more immersive when viewed through a headset. As companies like Meta, Apple and Snapchat develop products like AR glasses, virtual integrations in real-world locations will become vital for users to experience immersive augmented reality interactions. VITURE One XR Glasses: Smart Glasses Not So Smart Design TechRadar
VITURE One XR Glasses: Smart Glasses Not So Smart Design TechRadar
VITURE One XR Glasses: Smart Glasses, Not So Smart Design – TechRadar https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/viture-one-xr-glasses-smart-glasses-not-so-smart-design-techradar/ VITURE’s One XR Glasses had a lot of promise but some design issues severely impact the image quality. Considering they set you back nearly $500 these issues are inexcusable, making this new-age gadget a tough one to recommend. Pros + Convenient private portable display + Work with a range of devices including Steam Deck + Look like normal shades Cons – The image is blurry at the edges – Glasses didn’t sit right for us – The price is too high for what you get VITURE One XR Glasses: One-minute review The VITURE One XR Glasses are like a portable projector for your face. Slap them on, connect them to a compatible smartphone, laptop, or games console and their full-HD OLED displays will virtually project a 120-inch screen before your eyes. We say virtually project as onlookers won’t be able to see the screen floating in mid-air that you can see. Instead, these AR glasses provide you with a private personal home-cinema experience complete with surround sound – and you can take them anywhere you go. However, while the glasses promise a lot they don’t really deliver thanks to their lacking design. They don’t quite sit right on your face, meaning too much light can be let in and spoil the experience. In addition, the edges of the image can get quite blurry, making playing games and watching shows a bit of a challenge. If VITURE can release new nose clip options and a better cover that helps block out more light from the wearer’s surroundings then these could be a fairly nifty gadget. Unfortunately, as they are right now the One XR Glasses aren’t a pair of smart specs that we can recommend. VITURE One XR Glasses: Price and availability The VITURE One XR Glasses are available to buy in four different packages The most basic is buying the glasses on their own, which costs $479 (around £425 / AU$720). Taking things up a gear is the Dock Pack, which includes the glasses and a mobile dock so you can use the glasses with your Nintendo Switch and other HDMI-compatible devices; it’s $568 (around £500 / AU$855). Alternatively, you could nab the Cloud Pack for $588 (around £520 / AU$885) and swap the dock for a neckband that allows you to stream TV shows and games to the glasses over Wi-Fi. Or, if you want it all, you can get the Ultimate pack for $677 (around £599 / AU$1,019). The Steam Deck connected to the VITURE XR Glasses. (Image credit: Future) We were sent the Cloud Pack and definitely think this one is the best value for money of the four options – the dock seems useful but the neckband is what makes the glasses feel like they’re a portable projector rather than just an AR monitor for your phone or Steam Deck. That said, these prices feel pretty darn high for what you’re getting, but that’s an issue we’ve noticed with AR glasses in general. The tech is a bit too new for it to come at an affordable, mainstream price yet, so prices like $477 are roughly what you can expect to pay right now. Value score: 2/5 VITURE One XR Glasses: Design Whether you pick the black, white, or blue model, you’ll find there are a lot of similarities between the VITURE One XR glasses and other AR specs on the market like the Nreal Air AR glasses. Just like Nreal’s offering they look like a fairly normal – albeit chunky (coming in at 78g / 0.17lbs) – pair of shades with interchangeable and adjustable nose clips. The wired connection is placed at the end of one of the arms too, though VITURE has opted for a slightly different placement (on the side rather than the tip) and to use a magnetic pogo pin instead of a USB-C port. It works just as well though; the connection is secure and never came loose while we were using the glasses. The glasses also come with a plastic cover for the lenses to help stop light coming through the lenses, just like the Nreal Airs. However VITURE doesn’t just copy its rival, and the first improvement it makes is to the glasses’ regular lenses. VITURE’s glasses use mirrored lenses instead of simply dark tinted ones, which better hide the internal screens from onlookers. In addition, it adds controls to the glasses themselves, with a button on the left arm that lets you control volume, brightness, and a few other settings. You’ll also find dials on the top of each lens that let your correct the image between 0D and -5.0D to help you see what’s being displayed if you’re near-sighted. Unfortunately, for all the improvements, the VITURE Glasses also take a few steps back. The biggest problem with the design is that the glasses don’t dominate enough of your vision – there’s a lot of space around the side of them that lets light and distractions get in the way of your immersed experience. On top of that, we noticed that the picture always looked a little blurry, especially at the periphery where the most distractions were. Part of this is caused by the lenses not being quite large enough, but the nose clips also bear some of the blame. While there are three clips to choose from in the box they aren’t quite malleable enough, so we couldn’t alter their shape at all and make the glasses sit properly. To get around this we’d love to see VITURE release some better nose clips, and potentially look at a plastic cover that could surround the glasses – turning them from glasses to something more like goggles. When we help the glasses in the right place and cup our hands around the specs to block out more light the issues became much less noticeable. The power cable never came loose while we were wearing the glasses. (Image credit: Future) On top of these issues, the dials for near-sightedness, while a neat concept, fall a little short as they could still keep some players excluded. Nreal included an add-on for its AR glasses that could be outfitted with any kind of prescription lenses, a feature that could have worked just as well for VITURE. Moving past the glasses, the neckband is generally great. The 170g electronic is comfy to wear and the connector cable is the perfect length – long enough to reach the glasses but not so long that it leaves too much excess lying around. The only downside is the controller placement. It sits with the buttons facing your chest meaning you can’t actually see what you’re pressing – so you’ll need to memorize the layout before putting the glasses on. Design score: 1/5 VITURE One XR Glasses: Performance To put VITURE’s glasses through their paces we used them to play Stray and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Remastered on the Steam Deck. Stray is a game chock full of dusky city streets, with levels where the only illumination is from neon lights and bioluminescent matter. Despite being filled with generally darker scenes the VITURE glasses put their 5000:1 contrast ratio to good use and helped keep the game’s objects fairly well defined instead of a mess of indiscernible dark blobs. Meanwhile, the daytime streets of New York City and Spidey’s cartoonishly bright red, blue and white suit were rendered pretty well too. We would have liked some of the brighter colors to pop more but this full-HD OLED screen with 1800 nits of brightness still made sure that swinging from digital skyscrapers didn’t lose much of the magic. To help make everything look as great as it can we’d recommend turning the glasses up to high brightness and wearing them in a fairly dark room with the lights off or at least dimmed – the same sort of setup we’d recommend for a projector. Even in this ideal setting, you won’t get an experience that’s on par with one of the best OLED TVs, nor one of the best 4K projectors, but it’ll be about as good as a mid-range projector. For something that you can take with you and wear on your face that’s not half bad. The VITURE Neckband turns these glasses into a projector instead of just a glorified monitor. (Image credit: Future) The image latency seemed fine too, there were no noticeable input delays, so we could still pull off Spidey’s web-slinging combat combos without issue. But, as we mentioned above because of the specs’ design we did face some issues with the outer edges of the image being blurry. This wasn’t always a problem if the subject was in the center of the screen, but if we needed to read an in-game menu or pay attention to something at the edge we couldn’t tell what was going on. Over time the blurry image also gave us a headache, limiting the length of time we could stay immersed in each session. Audio-wise these glasses house some pretty solid Harmon speakers that provide spatial audio for whatever you’re playing or watching. However, if you have a pair of great headphones lying around we’d suggest using those instead.  The VITURE One XR’s speakers didn’t have enough oomph to provide the majesty that’s required by some tracks – like the heroic orchestral tracks that play in the background of Marvel’s Spider-Man. This left the audio feeling a little empty at times, something which we easily fixed using a pair of cans. Performance score: 2/5  VITURE One XR Glasses: Features The VITURE One XR glasses are compatible with any device that supports video output through a USB-C port. This means you can hook them up to your Steam Deck, Apple MacBook Pro 13-inch (M2, 2022), iPad Air (2022), and many of the best Windows laptops and Android smartphones, to name just a few devices. That said, we’d recommend checking your devices are indeed usable with these glasses before you buy. Case in point, despite being Google’s top-of-the-line phone the Google Pixel 6 isn’t compatible as it doesn’t support video output through its USB-C port. One device they are compatible with is the VITURE neckband, which effectively turns the VITURE One XR Glasses into a portable projector with the Android 11 TV OS. Beyond being able to access apps like Netflix and YouTube, you can access game st...

Phaorah Sanders Legendary Jazz Saxophonist Walked Among Us The Washington Post
Phaorah Sanders, Legendary Jazz Saxophonist, Walked Among Us – The Washington Post https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/phaorah-sanders-legendary-jazz-saxophonist-walked-among-us-the-washington-post/ It’s not like we expected him to materialize in a coil of stardust, but it still felt surprising to watch Pharoah Sanders take the bandstand late in life. I saw him perform twice — at Bohemian Caverns in 2011 and at Blues Alley a few years later — and each show began with a titan of American jazz plodding his way through the crowd, navigating a miniature maze of cocktail tables, his gait unforgettably heavy, his posture hunched, as if his world-changing music was something he carried around on his back. Then he’d find his place under the lights and start blowing bravura phrases through his saxophone until Earth’s gravity started to loosen. Is that why people called his music “spiritual jazz?” Because it made us feel like we were being released from the physical world? Sanders — who died in Los Angeles on Saturday at 81 — often described his work as a search for something that couldn’t be found, a quest toward the unknowable that he’d committed himself to since joining John Coltrane’s side in 1965. When Coltrane died two years later, many were quick to nominate Sanders as his heir: “Pharoah has incredible power, and incredible tenderness soulfulness,” the critic Amiri Baraka (known as LeRoi Jones at the time) wrote in the Cricket magazine in 1968, “like a love of playing, of sound, that will spread your consciousness dazzled among his notes.” That’s high praise and solid advice. Embracing Sanders’s expressive range as a metaphor for expanding consciousness is a very good place to begin to understand how this music can make you feel as if you’re taller than a house, or as if you’re swimming in the ozone layer, or any other exemptions to the laws of physics that his recordings might so generously offer. Across a sensational run of albums from the late 1960s through the mid-’70s — “Tauhid,” “Karma,” “Journey in Satchidananda” with Alice Coltrane just for starters — Sanders used his horn to lay all kinds of brayed melodies and ecstatic squeals on God’s doorstep. But ultimately, his search for transcendence may have simply been a pursuit of contentment. The vocal refrain of his signature composition, “The Creator Has a Master Plan,” has always suggested as much, envisioning “peace and happiness for every man” — one of those sweeping, cosmic, utopian ideas that may only manifest through the mundane. “I listen to things that maybe some guys don’t,” Sanders told the New Yorker in 2020 when asked about his current influences. “I listen to the waves of the water. Train coming down. Or I listen to an airplane taking off … I’ve always been like that, especially when I was small. I used to love hearing old car doors squeaking.” Maybe higher planes aren’t higher. Maybe they’re small and all around us. You don’t have to squint your ears too hard to hear the implication in last year’s “Promises,” a collaboration album with British producer Floating Points that allowed Sanders to play some of the most delicate phrases of his life. If anything, the intimate melancholy of “Promises” suggests that transcendence is something we can only ever yearn for. That’s why we listen, then, now and tomorrow.

Week In Insights: Returning To Planes, Trains, And Automobiles – Bloomberg Tax https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/week-in-insights-returning-to-planes-trains-and-automobiles-bloomberg-tax/ As I put together this week’s edition of the newsletter, I catch myself periodically looking out of the window. I’m on an Amtrak train—we just passed over Gunpowder River—heading back to Philadelphia after a busy week in our Virginia offices. I love traveling by train for this exact reason. I’ve been able to get work done—and some vicarious sightseeing—while on the way home. And I’ve missed it during the pandemic. There’s something about being on the train today that feels so … normal. And that’s a wonderful feeling. An Acela train is seen at an event marking Amtrak’s 50th Anniversary at the William H. Gray III 30th Street Station in Philadelphia, Penn. on April 30, 2021. Photograph: OLIVIER DOULIERY/AFP via Getty Images I know that we’ve all been missing a little normalcy. While I’m not in the mood to jump at every travel opportunity that I’ve been offered, I am grateful to be in a place where, more often than not, I’m giving it a second look. In April, my family took our first trip abroad since 2019. We went to the UK, where I was able to meet our London team and attend my first Premier League game. (It was incredible.) We’re finally able to follow that up. Next month, we’re heading to Zurich for a legal conference and a little sightseeing. Yes, I’m already dreaming of cheese and chocolate. After that, I’m planning a quick jaunt to Salt Lake City to speak about developments in the tax world. And somewhere in between, we’re hoping to get in a few college visits. This rhythm is familiar. And as hectic as it can be, I love it. It can be easy to sit inside and manage your Zoom and Teams calls. And I realize that some of you are still at that place—no judgment. But there’s something extraordinary about being able to jump on a plane, train, or automobile again. I’ve missed this. If you need a little inspiration, stay tuned. At Bloomberg, we’re planning some virtual and in-person events in the next few months, and we hope you’ll join us. And be sure to check out our listings below for more events. We’re fortunate to be in a profession where community is meaningful. And that can take many forms, from meeting up at conferences to sharing information online. We’re here to help. While we hope to meet you in person—eventually—you can always rely on us for great commentary and insightful analysis on federal, state, and international tax issues on The Exchange—no planes, trains, or automobiles required. The Exchange … It’s where great ideas intersect. —Kelly Phillips Erb Quick Trivia My Washington, D.C., hotel was required to tack on a whopping 14.25% lodging tax—but that’s not the most expensive lodging tax in the country. Excluding local lodging taxes, which state holds the honor for the most costly lodging tax? Answer at the bottom. State Insights State and local tax workarounds such as pass-through entity income tax options have received their share of news coverage. But their impact on business valuation is often overlooked, creating traps such as complications in “tax affecting” earnings, says Brady Ware Arpeggio’s Bruce C. Wood. Federal Insights When choosing a retirement plan for yourself, your client, or your company, start by asking a fundamental question—what are you trying to accomplish?—then meet with your tax adviser and a fiduciary specializing in the retirement plan space, says EisnerAmper’s Michael A. Abate. As educational institutions continue facing growing tax compliance and reporting requirements, they should understand some key risks and how to mitigate them through proper planning, say FORVIS’ Amy Bibby, Lauren Denton, and Jeremy Naess. While some fines and penalties can qualify as a tax deduction, the $10 million fine imposed by the NBA on Phoenix Suns owner Robert Sarver falls short of the standard for deductibility, says attorney Richard L. Fox. US corporations that sell vacation ownership intervals are entitled to installment sale deferral on their retail customer sales, generating large GAAP earnings in excess of taxable income. In Part 1 of a two-part series, Gunster, Yoakley & Stewart, P.A.’s Alan S. Lederman describes these special VOI-industry tax deferral rules, using the example of Hilton Grand Vacations Inc. In Part 2 of the series, Lederman explains why it seems unlikely that many of these VOI sellers will be subject to significant CAMT or OECD Pillar Two tax soon. The research and development tax credit provides important fuel for the US economy. But ongoing IRS scrutiny of credit applications means it’s important to claim credits only where they’re properly due, says ADP’s Brandi Price. The filing deadlines for the 2019 and 2020 tax years were pushed back because of the Covid-19 pandemic, prompting slower processing of tax returns. Holtz, Slavett & Drabkin APLC’s Richard Gano looks at how the IRS’ woes affected the penalty relief process. Changes to Internal Revenue Code Section 174 that took effect early this year have raised concerns, but most companies shouldn’t see a major upheaval to their tax picture, say Sycamore Growth Group’s Rick Kleban, Dainer Reinier, and James Bean. Global Insights Amish Patel and Rod Smith of RWK Goodman set out some important tax and other issues US nationals should consider before coming to work in the UK.
