Open Social

Open Social was a set of API's that allowed developers to build apps that worked across multiple social media platforms. Google released Open Social in 2007 as a response to Facebook Platform. Open Social was plagued with issues from the start and never caught on. Marc Andreessen, a big Open Social evangelist, joined Facebook's board of directors some months after Open Social launched.
