Visual Atomic Note Taking With Obsidian Excalidraw
Visual atomic note taking in Obsidian can be a great complement to taking notes in text form if you use tools like the Obsidian Excalidraw plugin. Obsidian Excalidraw lets you link and backlink with images, tag them for querying later, and even embed images AND parts of images. It’s an essential part of taking notes visually while not missing out on the benefits of plain text.

My bad. I read too fast and thought that you did not want to see the notes that were not created. AFAIK the only way to automatically use a template is with the Daily note or Zettelkasten plugin. Some time ago there was lots of talk around a way to add a specific template to any new note, but if a plugin was ever developed, I don’t know of it. Last thought, although it’s still a workaround - the calendar plugin, coupled with periodic notes, allows for a designated template to be used when clic...

DataviewJS Snippet Showcase - Share & showcase - Obsidian Forum
REAL Daily Notes previous/next navigation Sometimes I have large gaps between my Daily Notes, but still like the idea of having a “previous Daily Note / next Daily Note” navigator at the top. Now this doesn’t work without actually traversing the file tree, and what’s better for that than DataviewJS? I’m a little hesitant of putting such an amount of code into every Daily Note, so we might have to wait for common includes. Nevertheless, here is the code for those who wish to play around with it...

This template makes it easy to record a year’s worth of Plus Minus Next weekly reviews in a plain text app like Obsidian or iA Writer. Changes in this version:2023 Year Plan page - March link fixPlus Minus Next now have their own pages, for viewing backlinksTip: use links or tags to identify Plus, Minus, or Next items in your interstitial journaling entriesIf you find an error, please make sure you're looking at the most recent version, then email me or comment on this page to let me know. The download consists of a series of files in a folder. Be aware this is not a complete Obsidian vault: it's designed to be copied into your existing vault. You'll see that the weekly review page is essentially a simple list, as my approach is to stay away from app-specific plugins and features when a simple, more universal solution will do.There’s a different icon next to each month, chosen to reflect the seasons of the southern hemisphere. You may like to change them to suit your tastes or part of the world, or just delete them.Screenshot of Plus Minus Next page, showing Outline pane on the rightThe advantage of the emojis goes beyond looking pretty: in the outline pane it’s easy to see which week numbers belong to which month, and which weeks cross from one month to another. If you’re new to Obsidian and would like to learn how to set up your notes from scratch, check out Nicole van der Hoeven’s getting started video.
