⿸ I just saved myself an hour and a half using ChatGPT to convert my rubric. 👩‍💻 A lot of teachers think that because AI chatbots are weird with math that anything that touches the "mathy" realm is going to be funky, and as a result, many don't even touch spreadsheets. ⏫ I uploaded an old rubric that I didn't like and wanted to align it to a more equitable 4-point scale (see Joe Feldman's Grading for Equity). ⏱ In a matter of seconds it rearranged my rubric and categorized it exactly as I hoped in an exportable format *CUE ANGELS SINGING FROM ON HIGH* 🔁 But I wasn't done - Since Google Assignments wouldn't import it (the formatting wasn't right), I asked it to rearrange the same information into a spreadsheet that matched Google's needs for uploading a rubric. 8 seconds later I had a perfectly formatted rubric. 🏋️‍♀️ In the past, I might have given up on a seemingly small project like this when the reality hit me of how long it would take to parse through all the ideas, find the right language, and then get it into the right format on spreadsheets. Now it was literally a 2 minute process, most of which was me figuring out the language I needed to explain what I wanted. 🧠 Consider how important it is that I might have given up on a more equitable practice because I got overwhelmed with what it would take to make the switch. This is one of the areas that's really easy for critics to gloss over: AI combined with thoughtful practice can increase opportunities for students to succeed and for teachers to help them do so. #AIinEducation #StudentSuccess #ProfessionalDevelopment #Equity #Grading | 21 comments on LinkedIn
