Six shifts in language that may help educators and students with generative AI | LinkedIn
The phrases we use and keep in mind have a powerful and often subconscious way of influencing how we perceive and think. When it comes to generative AI in education, I've noticed some interesting shifts that might help reframe how we approach and conceptualise AI in more realistic, human, and balanc

Teaching Effectively with ChatGPT with Dan Levy and Angela Pérez Albertos - Intentional Teaching
I have now read a few books on the intersection of higher education teaching and generative AI, and Teaching Effectively with ChatGPT is by far my favorite. There’s no hyperbole here, just practical advice on making the most of generative AI with dozens of concrete examples from the authors and from other instructors in their network. The book was written by Dan Levy, senior lecturer in public policy at Harvard Kennedy School, and Angela Pérez Albertos, who was first a student in Dan’s class, then a teaching assistant working with Dan, and is now the head of U.S. strategy at Innovamat, a global educational organization focusing on math learning. Today I get to share my conversation with Dan and Angela about Teaching Effectively with ChatGPT, and I think you’ll find it interesting, whether you’re eagerly embracing AI in your teaching, actively resisting it, or somewhere in between.Episode Resources:Teaching Effectively with ChatGPT websiteDan Levy’s faculty pageAngela Pérez Albertos on LinkedInA short ChatGPT prompt to learn about anything“Talking to Colleagues about Generative AI” by me“AI-Enhanced Live Polling” by me

Alt text: "The Bloom-AI Framework diagram showing a pyramid with six levels of Bloom's taxonomy adapted for AI integration in education. From bottom to top: Remember (purple), Understand (light blue), Apply (green), Analyze (darker green), Evaluate (yellow), and Create (orange). Each level is divided into three columns: Human-led activities on the left, AI-Supported activities in the center, and AI-Toolbox resources on the right. The framework demonstrates how AI supports foundational knowledge while human educators develop higher-order cognitive skills. A legend at the bottom shows color coding for Visual (blue), Auditory (red), Reading (green), and Kinesthetic (purple) learning styles. The diagram is credited to Randal P. Building Teacher Confidence by Making Responsible Choices to Teach Using AI - CLT New Chalk Talk
In spring 2025, we, Laila ElSerty and Rania Jabr, two Academy of Liberal Arts (ALA) faculty at AUC, considered the amount of time spent in preparing for our classes. We have come to the realization that we spend an average of 15 hours a week preparing for our classes. This has spurred a discussion on

Why Deeper Learning Is a Critical Advantage in the Age of AI - John Spencer
The future is unpredictable. So, when we try to design learning experiences that “prepare students for the future,” we have to recognize that we don’t always know what they’ll need. In this article, I explore the counterintuitive reality that the best way to prepare students...
