The Indian government has decided to cut VAT on electric vehicles from 12% to 5% and charging stations from 18% to 12%. In addition, the purchase of electric buses by the municipalities is exempt from VAT. The changes will come into force on 1 August 2019. The VAT on petrol and diesel remains at 28 percent. With the tax cut, the Indian government wants to reduce the price difference between the two types of power in order to make electric cars more affordable.

Geotab has prepared a joint study with AEGFA, Spanish Association of Fleet Managers and Mobility (Asociación Española de Gestores de Flotas de Automóviles), to analyze the state of electrification of fleets in Spain. The study is based on a survey of more than 90 managers of medium and large fleets in Spain and among its main conclusions highlights that the vast majority is planning to increase the adoption of electric vehicles. In fact, only 1% of companies surveyed maintain that no change would encourage them to electrify their fleet.

Hyundai has announced that it will install, free of charge, a charging point at the home of those Spanish customers who purchase one of its electric models. Vattenfall and the city of Amsterdam are now jointly operating under the name Flexpower. "Flexpower" is said to be the largest smart charging network for electric vehicles in Amsterdam. DPD Switzerland has ordered a purely electrically powered Futuricum Logistics 18E truck from the Swiss company Designwerk Products AG in Winterthur. Cooperation partners MagniX and Harbor Air have announced the successful first flight of a de Havilland Canada DHC-2 Beaver seaplane converted to electric propulsion. The declared goal of the duo is to successively electrify all 42 sea airplanes from Harbor Air. Daimler's Trucks & Buses commercial vehicle division is celebrating another milestone on the way to electrifying its vehicle portfolio: customers around the world have covered more than seven million kilometres with battery-electric trucks and buses. Positive customer feedback and findings from intensive tests with e-trucks from the Mercedes-Benz, FUSO and Freightliner brands show that the electrification of road freight transport is feasible today. Citroën has confirmed the arrival on the market of an electric variant of the Citroën C4 in 2020, which will accompany the traditional combustion variants of the French group. Chinese automaker FAW has started constructing a new plant in Changchun that will produce electric cars for its premium brand "Hongqi". The completion of the plant is planned for 2022. BMW plans to develop next-generation electric drives together with British carmaker Jaguar Land Rover. Companies are hoping to bring new electric vehicles to market faster.
