Decision Tables
Decision Tables
I really like decision tables but they’ve fallen out of common knowledge. Let’s fix that. A decision table is a means of concisely representing branching and conditional computations. In the most basic form, you have some columns that represent the “inputs” as booleans and some columns that represent outputs and effects. It looks like this: A B C f(A, B, C) T T T 1 T T F 3 T F T 7 T F F “cucumber” F - - NullError - means that it doesn’t matter what the value is.

When trying to understand something, often get - an intense feeling of nausea/falling when confused- a feeling of being spatially 'in' a place and constructing something in 3D around meCurious if these are common/what other things people feel when internalizing a new concept— Laura Deming (@LauraDeming) October 31, 2021

At its core, creativity is unexpected connections between disparate (but not random) concepts. Most tools for thought steer us towards convergence; refining pre-existing connections. We need more tools to inspire creativity! This is a great example. https://t.co/GRcxQo0zGd— Kasey Klimes (@KaseyKlimes) November 3, 2021

The Zigzag Man: Christopher Alexander's Dual Regard
The Zigzag Man: Christopher Alexander's Dual Regard Alexander is at once analytical, focused, and linear, but also intuitive, receptive, and embodied. His style is the summation of both attitudes. How I do research
How I do research
I think of my build software faster work as research. I'm trying to understand how to reach a goal, and the way is unclear. I don't know if I've discovered anything new, yet, and I don't know if that will be required. My goal is to reach the goal, not to expand human knowledge for its own sake.

Socorro, NM It’s my birthday again. My second as a nomad and my first in a relationship. Some reflections on life, inspired by this past year of adventuring across the continent. Some are new learnings; others are re-discovering consistencies in life. Grateful to everyone in my life who made the past year a beautiful one and looking forward to the next one. Also very excited about no more young driver’s fee on my rentals.

The best blog posts are always the ones that go from a random scribble during a conversation—to a few bullet points—to a paragraph—to a full page—to, reluctantly, end up being a full-blown blog post.I guess I'll put it up.— Linus (@thesephist) November 16, 2021

one of my most interesting projects last year was designing the branding system for @Cron. The word mark was inspired by the Bauhaus movement and also doubles as a pattern that shows up in very unexpected ways in the app. Excited to see it out in the wild! https://t.co/ciS4dLz3QI— Jason Yuan (@jasonyuandesign) November 19, 2021
