WinApps: Virtualized Windows Apps On Linux, Plus Windowing
Forget WINE; a fascinating technique to make Photoshop work on Linux involves chopping up a remote access client into a windowing interface. It kinda works.
Key AdvantagesOnly 7g of filament per ring.Compatible spool brand name impressed.Rounded contour helps with traction, avoids pullback errors and stabilizes the spool inside the AMS.Rounded contour lowers the chance of damaging plastic storage bags.Flat variant for full AMS compatibility (see tolerance and compatibility section)200mm diameter variant for slightly bigger spools (199mm is the standard size)DescriptionThis isn't merely a typical cardboard spool adapter. By decreasing its contact area by approximately 50-60% compared to standard adapters, it significantly enhances contact pressure. Consider it akin to winter tires on a car, which generally require higher pressure to minimize their contact area with the ground. Additionally, its rounded edges help stablizing the Spool inside the AMS and minimize the likelihood of damaging plastic vacuum bags. The adapter is not only lightweight, weighing a mere 7 grams of filament, but it is also reusable and easily attaches in the same manner as conventional adapters. This adapter has proven to be a game-changer, eliminating the need for other AMS modifications that claim to address retraction and entanglement issues. Remarkably, I’ve found that spool weights are no longer necessary. However, as with any solution, individual results may vary. Happy printing!TolerancesCompared to plastic spools, cardboard spools are more vulnerable to various external factors, such as moisture, temperature fluctuations, and variations in the production process (up to +/-2mm). Consequently, you may encounter slight variations in the fit, which can range from slightly looser to tighter. In extreme cases, the spool adapter may not fit at all. In these scenarios, you can make the necessary adjustments to the model's scale using the Bambu Slicer for both the X and Y axes. Ensure that you uncheck the "uniform scale" option before proceeding. If your spool's diameter exceeds the default setting, consider increasing the scale by .25%. Conversely, if your spool's diameter is smaller, reduce the scale by .25%, and your setup should be ready for use.CompatibiltyeSun Cardboard Spools tend to be on the larger side of the spectrum. While they can fit without an adapter, when paired with the rounded adapter, they surpass Bambu Labs’ specifications. Consequently, users have a couple of options to address this:AMS Lid Spacer: Utilizing a spacer for the lid can accommodate the larger spools effectively.Custom Backside Rollers: Alternatively, consider implementing custom backside rollers specifically designed to support these larger rolls. For a straightforward solution, leaving the lid open (or at least not locking it) provides ample room for the spool. For individuals who prefer not to alter their AMS and wish to close the lid, I have incorporated a nearly flat variant that aligns with Bambu Labs’ specifications.PrintingWhen it comes to printing, you should produce two adapters for each cardboard spool. It is advisable to steer clear of materials that exhibit low friction, such as Silk-PLA, to ensure optimal performance. Most of the time I use Standard PLA.Other Filament BrandsThis adapter is available for other brand's cardboard spools (Link to Collection):3DGenius3DHojorAceaddityAnycbicAnycubic Pantone SeriesATABblifeColorfulComgrowCopymaster 3DCrealityCUIEEDDikaleDO3DDuramic 3DElegooENISINAEonoEryone / Eryone 2024+eSunFiberonFilafarmFirosFlashforgeFormFuturaGeeetechGembirdGiantarmGNVTNTPGratKitGrautsInlandIWEColorJAMG HE ConjureJayoJustmakerKexcelledKingroonKinluotKretrumLanduLovoonMaertzMchyiMeltbroMKOEMNinetecOEM Mika3DOvertureOVV3DPanchroma (by Polymaker)PolymakerProtopastaR3DRaise3DRedline FilamentReflowReprapperPergearPinuotoPlasportPrima CreatorPrindanoSainSmartSepdanceSmartfilSovolSpectrumSunlu Elite SeriesTinmorryTronxyTTYT3DTwo TreesUjoybioYousuYOYI YOYIXVICOXZN
No more water rings!I hate how quickly my toothbrush charger gets dirty due to constant water contact, so I created these liners and simple liner holder. These use very little material so you may choose to either dispose of them, or give them a sanitizing bath when needed. Dual electric toothbrush shelf with hidden wires by VizardXY
My wife wanted more space on our small bathroom sink area and asked if I could make a little shelf for us to put our toothbrushes on. This little shelf allows you to bundle up the extra wiring from the chargers and hide them inside the shelf. There are holes on the top/back to allow a 2-prong plug to fit through. I also added keyholes on the back for stronger mounting, though I just used some 3M VHB tape and it sems to be holding well so far. This is my first time 3D modeling anything, so please share any feedback!
Install NextCloud Hub and OnlyOffice on Ubuntu 24.04 with Docker Compose | OERu Technology Blog
This is yet another update of my previous posts (installing NextCloud with Collabora Office Online on Ubuntu 16.04 and then NextCloud with OnlyOffice on Ubuntu 18.04 and Install NextCloud Hub and OnlyOffice on Ubuntu 22.04 with Docker Compose). NextCloud continues to develop at a blistering rate, and as of this writing, it's at version 30.0.5.
I recently got a new Macbook, and began setting up the Nix package manager to install my developer toolset. I mainly did this to try and have a working setup without installing Homebrew. Since I ran into a few issues, I wanted to briefly document what I did and why in case others wanted to try the same.
Why Nix? (and why not Homebrew or MacPorts?) The short answer: hype.
The long answer: I’ve been frustrated with Homebrew’s user experience for years now, and used this opportunity to start afresh. The default non-Homebrew answer is the venerable MacPorts, which has been around for quite a while. Most people who aren’t functional programming or build system nerds should probably use MacPorts, as it has been around long enough to have good support documentation floating around the internet. Unfortunately I’m a sucker for hermetic builds 1, so I decided to try Nix.
