The manufacturing industry will be heavily disrupted by the metaverse in under a decade and will be able to work at a higher efficiency by using emerging technologies.
Emma Taylor, thematic analyst at GlobalData, made these predictions in a new podcast on where the manufacturing industry will be by 2030.
“Manufacturing companies are well-positioned to enter into the metaverse, Taylor said.
Vehicle manufacturers have already begun using the technology to help with their day-to-day operations. Bentley and BMW have reportedly been using NVIDIA’s Omniverse to create a digital twin of their manufacturing facilities.
“BMW claims this initiative has reduced production planning time substantially,” Taylor noted.
A key technology in the metaverse is augmented reality. Taylor says that defence contractors like Lockhead Martin are investing heavily into this technology to help improve efficiency and accuracy in production.
As well as this, Microsoft and Boeing are reportedly working together in the metaverse to design aircraft in order to help prevent manufacturing issues and improve engineering.
Taylor adds: “While large enterprises legitimise the metaverse, developing use cases will allow more small and medium-sized enterprises to enter the theme by 2030.”
According to research firm GlobalData, the metaverse will be a $600-plus billion opportunity by 2030. Making it hard for any industry to ignore.
“Manufacturing enterprises will realise a range of benefits from the metaverse,” Taylor said, “including remote collaboration for workplace training, 3D visualisation of factory floors for operational efficiency, and also marketing opportunities.”
It is noted, however, that many of these cases are still just prototypes as of now.
Taylor adds: “The maturity of the metaverse and its use cases will disrupt the manufacturing sector by 2030, with companies like retail, automotive, and beverages being some of the first to experience it.”

Here’s how I used it: I wore down the stick just a little to where the texture from the salt is visible, scrubbed around on my face so there was plenty of product, then I used my fingers to gently massage all the gunk away. Rinse, pat dry, and enjoy the softness. Highly recommended for people with sensitive skin like myself.” —LuckLocust

9. A cruelty-free lengthening mascara if you’re ready to make your dream of voluminous, curly lashes come true. It’s lightweight, won’t transfer, doesn’t smudge, and lasts all day — what more could you ask for?
Promising review: “This stuff is fantastic! My eyelashes are dark and aren’t particularly long. A few coats of this, and it really looks like I have extensions. The day I got it, I had to get right back on Amazon and order another tube for my mother. She tried it, and it made her VERY sparse, short lashes look like doll lashes. Doesn’t seem to smudge, yet removal is easy at the end of the day! Definitely feel good about this $5 impulse purchase!” —Jane Eyre
Get it from Amazon for $4.99.
10. A pair of exfoliating mitts for making you go, “Oh, gross!” the next time you shower. They’re made of a viscose fiber that buffs away beads of dead skin (you’ll literally be able to see them) to reveal buttery, baby soft skin underneath — and probably make you feel like a lizard shedding its skin.
Promising review: “I use a loofah everyday, so I just bought this to use once a week, not thinking it would do much if anything. Man, was I wrong!!! I read reviews, viewed pictures, and watched the videos. I assumed they all used tanning products or spray tans, because the skin in the tub was brown/black. OMG, mine was too!!! I haven’t tanned in 15 or so years. It was gross. On the bright side, my skin really does feel great. Just get it, seriously…” —Kim McMahon
Get them from Amazon for $9.99 (also available individually).
11. A Sunday Riley face sunscreen with SPF 30 because I bet your current sunscreen doesn’t protect against blue light. Well, this guy does! And it dries without leaving a white cast or feeling heavy on the skin.
Sephora
I’d written off all Western sunscreens as absolute TRASH in favor of Asian sunscreens, but this sunscreen really surprised me. What impressed me the most and what is probably my favorite thing about this product (apart from the sun protection) is that there was absolutely no white cast. It does take a little bit for it to fully soak into the skin, but I actually enjoyed the dewy glow it gave my skin because I don’t usually wear makeup/foundation. The only fault I can find is that the sunscreen is quite runny, so I have to make sure to hold the container upside down when I open it so the sunscreen doesn’t drip everywhere.
Promising review: “The best sunscreen for melanated people. For those saying it leaves a blue cast, the key is rub the sunscreen in your hands and create heat versus simply applying straight to your face. So many benefits in one sunscreen, why wouldn’t you buy it??” —thee1bbn
Get it from Amazon and Sephora for $35.
12. The Clean Ball, a genius German invention so you can get rid of purse sand — y’know, the fine layer of dirt, dust, crumbs, grit, and who knows what else that you scrape your hand against whenever you’re rooting around your bag and you brush the bottom of your tote. Inside the honeycomb pink ball is a smaller sticky ball that picks up debris and washes clean so you can reuse it.
Amazon
Promising review: “This little ball is genius! It rolls around in my purse, which I live out of. It picks up a lot lint, debris, or even crumbs. It’s easy to find with the bright pink. Just remove and wash and it’s ready to go again. The price was great and something I can use for years. If you live out of your purse this a must have!!” —dj3biggs

Bitcoin Showing Bullish Signs – Exchange Outflows See Significant Uptick – Cryptonews https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/bitcoin-showing-bullish-signs-exchange-outflows-see-significant-uptick-cryptonews/

Bitcoin (BTC) is again showing signs of bullishness, with outflows from crypto exchanges and into personal wallets now seeing a significant uptick.
In a post published on the crypto analytics platform CryptoQuant, the exchange outflows were described as “very significant” and “the highest amount in months,” amounting to more than 61,000 BTC in the past three days alone.
“After months of [lower] prices, this is a sign of demand coming back into the market,” the post, written by the user maartunn, said.
Source: maartunn/CryptoQuant
Exchange outflows are generally seen as bullish for crypto prices, as it indicates that investors have long-term conviction in the asset and are not planning to sell again in the near-term. Conversely, exchange inflows are seen as bearish as it can be a sign that investors are losing confidence and are therefore sending coins to exchanges to be sold.
Meanwhile, bitcoin balances held on exchanges have also seen a consistent downtrend in recent months, after spiking back in early August.
The sharpest fall in bitcoin balances came between September 29 and October 1, when the level dropped from 2.14m BTC to 2.08m across all major exchanges, per data from Coinglass. All else equal, lower amounts of bitcoin held on exchanges is seen as bullish for the price.
In the past, several theories have been discussed as the reason for the lower exchange balances of bitcoin. Some insiders point to over-the-counter (OTC) deals as one explanation, while others say an increase in the bitcoin whale population shows that large holders increasingly prefer to take full control of their own coins.
As of press time at 10:00 UTC, BTC traded at $19,166, down a mere 0.5% for the past 24 hours, but up 1.9% on a 7-day basis.
Oath Keepers Founder Goes On Trial Over U.S. Capitol Riots Reuters
Oath Keepers Founder Goes On Trial Over U.S. Capitol Riots – Reuters https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/oath-keepers-founder-goes-on-trial-over-u-s-capitol-riots-reuters/
WASHINGTON, Oct 3 (Reuters) – U.S. prosecutors will present their opening statements on Monday in the trial of Oath Keepers founder Stewart Rhodes and four others charged with conspiring to use force to stop the peaceful transfer of presidential power on Jan. 6, 2021.
Rhodes and his co-defendants Kelly Meggs, Thomas Caldwell, Jessica Watkins and Kenneth Harrelson are accused of plotting to forcefully prevent Congress from certifying Democratic President Joe Biden’s 2020 election victory, in a failed bid to keep then-President Donald Trump, a Republican, in power.
Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in a failed attempt to overturn his election loss to Biden after Trump falsely claimed the election had been stolen from him through widespread fraud. Five people died during and shortly after the riot, and about 140 police were injured.

The five on trial face numerous felony charges, including seditious conspiracy – a Civil War-era statute that is rarely prosecuted and carries a statutory maximum sentence of 20 years in prison.
Opening statements by prosecutors and the defense are expected to last for several hours.
Prosecutors have said the five defendants trained and planned for Jan. 6 and stockpiled weapons at a northern Virginia hotel outside the capital for a so-called “quick reaction force” that would be ready if called upon to transport arms into Washington.
As lawmakers met on Jan. 6 to certify Biden’s election victory, some Oath Keepers rushed into the Capitol building, clad in paramilitary gear. They are not accused of carrying firearms onto Capitol grounds.
The trial, which could last for six weeks or more, is expected to feature emotionally charged videos from the day of the attack, as well as text and audio voice messages exchanged between the group’s members.
The government has characterized the Oath Keepers as a far-right anti-government group, some of whose members have ties to militias. Some of the members, who include current and former military and law enforcement personnel, believe the federal government “has been co-opted by a cabal of elites trying to strip American citizens of their rights,” the indictment alleges.
Rhodes, a Yale-educated attorney and former U.S. Army paratrooper, has disputed that characterization, saying it’s a non-partisan group whose members have pledged to defend the U.S. Constitution.
The trial is expected to feature testimony from as many as 11 FBI agents and possibly at least one informant. A full witness list has not been publicly released.
Although Trump’s shadow will loom large over the trial, he is not expected to be a central figure in the case.
U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta, who is presiding over the trial, previously restricted the defendants from using a “public authority” defense, meaning they cannot claim they stormed the Capitol at Trump’s direction.
However, attorneys for some of the defendants are expected to argue that their clients believed they could be called to action if Trump invoked the Insurrection Act, a law that empowers the president to deploy troops to suppress civil disorder.

Classic 89 370LE Airstream Motorhome Is Now A Rolling Private Cinema That Sleeps 7 Autoevolution
Classic ’89 370LE Airstream Motorhome Is Now A Rolling Private Cinema That Sleeps 7 – Autoevolution https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/classic-89-370le-airstream-motorhome-is-now-a-rolling-private-cinema-that-sleeps-7-autoevolution/
Loretta is also a good example of upcycling for an extended shelf-life. It started out as a 1989 370LE Airstream Motorhome but is now the perfect family vacation home that can sleep up to seven people: the six members of the family and one guest. It also provides basic creature comforts and, to boot, it doubles as a private cinema. A home on wheels and a rolling movie theater, all wrapped up in a beautiful, shiny package, what more could you want?
Loretta is a project by Colorado-based Timeless Travel Trailers, which boasts of being the “largest and most experienced custom builder in North America,” with an impressive portfolio of private and corporate customers. Done on commission for a family of six from New York City seeking “a getaway that still resembles their home in the city,” Loretta has a “modern and minimal aesthetic, [while] the interior is simple and fresh.”
Words can only do this much in terms of conveying the message, so the photos in the gallery will offer whatever proof is still needed that this is a beautiful project in every way. The interior is clean and functional, modular yet still very elegant and inviting. The exterior is top-notch, with the shiny aluminum skin extending within the walls, which forms a beautiful contrast with the natural wood-engineered white oak flooring. The company behind the conversion says that they removed all the original aluminum skins and added the new type of skin that Airstream uses in its current models.
Inside, there’s a lounge that doubles as a dining area and sleeping area, depending on the time of day. Couches offer comfortable seating during mealtimes, convert into beds, or into lounges when the projector screen comes down for movie nights. There’s a double couch that becomes a king-size bed and another couch reserved for sleeping one guest. At the rear, in a separate room, Loretta has two more couches that join to become a bed and two elevated bunks for kids. In total, there’s sleeping for seven people, and the size of the motorhome allows for some sense of privacy despite the high number of people inside.
Speaking of which, Loretta is 37 feet long (11.2 meters). The three-axle motorhome also has space for a kitchenette, which comes with a sink, pantry, storage, microwave, induction cooktop, and a fridge with a freezer compartment.
The entire family can sit down for dinner at the fold-down tables, and there’s a certain sense of refinement to the space thanks to the marble-like waterfall countertops. Since Loretta was designed to travel, no real marble was used, as it would have added too much weight; a real marble stone veneer on a plywood substrate was used instead. One of the counters integrates a bar with a wine chiller and a secret liquor compartment that comes up from the countertop. Fancy – and most welcome after a long work week.
The bathroom is small but practical, with a toilet, a shower with a stainless steel pan, and a duckboard.
The lounge area can become a private cinema thanks to an ultra-short-throw LG projector and projector screen, coupled with a Sonos stereo system with a hidden soundbar. A 32-inch television is also available in the kitchen, on a swivel arm for more convenience.
Further upgrades include new wiring and plumbing, a new generator, water heater and pump, furnace, AC and two fans, new fresh, gray, and black water tanks, and a security system with surveillance cameras for peace of mind when the family leaves this beauty unattended. According to Timeless Travel Trailers, Loretta remains one of their most popular projects. Completed and delivered to the owners in 2018, it’s been on several cross-country trips since and is holding up remarkably well.

Getting children to eat a balanced and healthy diet is a challenge for most parents. From limited food preferences, developing tastes and tantrums to being plain restless, there are several reasons why children struggle to finish a plate of healthy food.
While the basics of a healthy diet remain the same for all age groups – eat mostly fruits and vegetables, followed by carbohydrates such as whole grains, then dairy and fats – children need more calcium for their growing bones, protein for increasing muscle mass and antioxidants to enhance their immunity. Children grow about 2.5 inches (6 to 7 centimetres) each year and gain about 2-3 kg per year until puberty starts, which means they need plenty of nutrition.

Prakriti Poddar, spokesperson, RoundGlass Living, recommends four Indian ingredients that can give your child the extra edge to grow and live with health and happiness. As a mother of three young children, she is more than familiar with the challenges of getting children to eat healthy and how their diet can be optimized to provide adequate nutrition. Include these ingredients in their regular diet and see your little one bloom into a healthy young adult.
1. Kokum
This bright-coloured sour fruit grows mainly in the Western Ghats, and is a rich source of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients with anti-inflammatory properties and even anti-cancer activity. The fruit is packed with anthocyanins, antioxidants that give it its rich colour and anti-inflammatory properties. It helps in boosting the immunity of children and keeps their gut healthy.
How to use: Consume it in form of a juice prepared by soaking kokum overnight and then extracting its juice. Add kokum to curries and dals for a dash of sourness and health.
2. Mango Ginger
This unique ingredient looks like ginger, tastes like raw mango and belongs to the turmeric family. It is a rich source of antioxidants and nutrients and is used in traditional medicinal systems as an appetizer, anti-pyretic, emollient, expectorant and laxative. This means it can help with common health challenges faced by growing children, such as frequent coughs and colds as well as constipation. Called aamba haldi in Hindi, mango ginger also has anti-inflammatory properties that help in healing skin injuries and skin diseases.
How to use: Mango ginger is mostly used as a pickle. Its juliennes can be added to soups and salads or used to prepare the salad dressing. Or prepare a chutney using mango ginger and other complimentary ingredients.
3. Tulsi or Holy Basil
This flowering plant from the mint family is an integral part of Indian culture and holds religious and culinary significance for many communities. But its nutritional properties make it an essential ingredient to include in the diet of children. For instance, tulsi contains powerful nutrients like vitamin C that help boost the immune system of children. Eugenol, an antioxidant, helps fight skin disorders such as acne that frequently affect adolescents. It also helps in reducing cold and congestion in the chest. Its anti-inflammatory properties make it a soothing ingredient for the seasonal fevers that commonly afflict children.
How to use: Add some leaves to boiling water to make herbal tea and offer it to your child daily to help maintain immunity. Rub tulsi oil on the skin of your child to keep her safe from mosquito bites when she goes out to play.
4. Anantamul or Indian Sarsaparilla
This relatively less-known root grows in the Himalayan region, as well as in coastal areas. It has many skin-healing properties that can be handy for managing teen acne and other skin disorders. It has blood-purifying properties that can prevent the appearance of pimples. In addition, it could potentially also be used to manage blood sugar in children with co-morbidities.
How to use: Dried roots can be brewed in hot water to make herbal tea which can be consumed as per requirement. Your child may initially find its herb.

Argos is the dual world launch partner
Digital out of home (DOOH) media owner Ocean Outdoor has launched the world’s first cross-platform Web 3 metaverse out of home package with retailer Argos as its brand partner.
Argos is using the space on the metaverse screens as part of its strategy to drive consideration and awareness of premium products and tech brands.
The dual world campaign has also appeared on Ocean’s Holland Park Roundabout tri screen in London alongside an NFT replica of the same billboard inside Somnium Space VR Metaverse and is running across real world roadside locations in Birmingham and Manchester until October 23.
Argos campaign manager Becky Desert said: “This campaign is part of a reappraisal strategy for Argos where we hope to drive consideration and awareness of more premium products and brands that some people don’t think of Argos for.
“Part of changing shoppers’ minds is about what we say but it’s also important that we show up in new, interesting and relevant contexts. That’s why we jumped at the opportunity to appear in the metaverse, particularly for this campaign that is centred around desirable tech.”
Working in partnership with LandVault (formerly Admix), Ocean’s metaverse collection features 45 digital billboards in Decentraland and Somnium Space and Ocean’s three NFT sites – the Loop, Holland Park Roundabout and the Four Dials Westfield Stratford City which were auctioned last year. These are located in Somnium Space.
Each of the screens occupy key locations within Somnium Space platforms to deliver maximum engagement and reach in highly trafficked and immersive areas like a conference centre, a GenesisVR Disco Club, a concert hall and the most popular metaverse gaming zones.
Areas include Decentral Games, the busiest single area within Decentraland, accounting for more than 60 percent of all traffic. Individuals visiting these areas will play games for between two and three hours per day, with more than 60 percent of them being returning visitors. The ad placements are all natively integrated with the venues, enabling both brand advertising spots and the “teleportation” of visitors to the advertiser’s venues.
Using LandVault’s In-Play technology, Ocean’s virtual billboards synchronise with the creative displayed on their real-world DOOH counterparts, providing an indisputable link to the core Ocean product and the wider addressable market.
Director of Ocean Labs Catherine Morgan said: “The launch of Ocean’s metaverse network provides brands with the opportunity to create dual world campaigns, providing access to young tech savvy early adopters across our DOOH real world network and in the virtual realm.
“For brands we are creating an easy access point in to the metaverse where they can test and learn without having to invest in purchasing land.”
This is a landmark moment for the metaverse, as the LandVault technology opens a new business model for creators: advertising. Until now, creators of virtual experiences relied on NFT sales or complex brand partnerships reserved for the largest creators. With the offering powered by LandVault and Ocean, every creator can monetise their content in an automated way; and brands can now extend their reach into the fast growing Web 3 metaverse.
Landvault CEO Sam Huber said: “The metaverse is estimated to be a $trillion opportunity over the next decade, becoming a more immersive version of the internet. It is imperative for brands to jump in early and learn the ropes of this new channel to not be left behind and benefit from being an early adopter. The LandVault programmatic infrastructure enables brands to target audiences in these new environments using tools they know and understand.”
“This is a truly unique moment for metaverse since it provides the first ever ability for audiences to connect with brands and physical items in an immersive cross-reality way. Moreover, owners of these NFT billboards will be getting direct revenue from these campaigns allowing them to reinvest parts of profits directly into generating more content and organising better and bigger events at their locations thus generating more visibility for brands,” said Artur Sychov, founder and CEO of Somnium Space.

3 Simple Tips For An Ergonomic Laptop Experience For Your Teens And Tweens Cool Mom Tech
3 Simple Tips For An Ergonomic Laptop Experience For Your Teens And Tweens – Cool Mom Tech https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/3-simple-tips-for-an-ergonomic-laptop-experience-for-your-teens-and-tweens-cool-mom-tech/
If your kids are using a laptop or Chromebook for their schoolwork (or gaming), there are a few simple things you can teach them (and purchase) to help them avoid tech neck. Yes, it’s totally a thing (says the person who’s on her computer most hours of the day). Here are our tips, tricks, and gadgets that you’ll be glad to know about.
Cool Mom Tech is a reward style affiliate.
Read this post about blue light glasses. Do kids need them?
1. Make sure the laptop or chromebook is at eye height. As tempting as it might be for your teens or tweens to sit on the couch or in bed, it’s actually pretty terrible for their necks. If you’ve got a designated work space for them, consider investing in a laptop stand, like this highly-rated option that even has a photo stand too, which will help raise their laptop up to their eye level. You can also easily store it in the cabinet or shelf, and they can just pull it out when they’re working at the kitchen table (which is what my kids do).
2. If you’ve got their computer on a stand, an ergonomic keyboard is a good idea, like this one that’s pretty popular with tech users. Not all keyboards are created equal; an ergonomic one is actually created to ensure the user’s hands are in a comfortable position. The same goes for an ergonomic mouse as well. This one from Logitech is on the pricier side but the reviews are fantastic. It’s a worthy investment if your kids are on their computer a fair amount, which seems like the case for most kids (but especially kids who are doing online school).
3. Along with a good chair, make sure your kids know the importance of taking breaks. The 20-20-20 rule is extremely effective and it’s so easy to remember: Take a break every 20 minutes and look 20 feet away for 20 seconds. This helps rest their brains and their eyes. It’s also not a bad idea for them to get up and move around, too, which if your kids are like mine, might be tricky if they’re using their laptop for Minecraft or other gaming purposes.
Keep in mind, these tips aren’t just for tweens or teens. If you’re like me and happen to work on a computer all day long, these are important tips to consider for yourself, too.

Crypto Investors Hunker Down For storms Ahead TechCentral
Crypto Investors Hunker Down For ‘storms Ahead’ – TechCentral https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/crypto-investors-hunker-down-for-storms-ahead-techcentral/
Crypto investors found something to cheer about amid the recent downturn in digital tokens: the asset class held up better than just about everything else in the third quarter. Yet the hunt for a bottom continues as long-term holders cling on with expectations that there’s more pain to come — and retail investors stay on the sidelines.
Even with the narrative going around that crypto hung tough in the July to September stretch, the mood has remained sour. While around 83 500 new digital wallets are coming online daily, that’s a low for the 2020-2022 cycle, according to data compiled by strategists at Glassnode.
Meanwhile, wealth held by “mature coins” is at an all-time high, the researcher said, as long-time investors have refused to spend them amid the market turmoil. The group of investors who “hodl” through thick and thin — meaning those who remain loyal even during tough times — has remained “steadfast”, according to Glassnode, which said that they might be hunkering down “for the storms ahead”.
Such is the problem for bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies now — the cohort of retail-type investors who had fuelled much of last year’s huge surge in prices have been missing in action. Some market watchers say that with hodl-investors waiting things out, the overhanging question remains whether — or when — individual investors will make a return.
“The overall price has got to do better, and once it does the retail investor will become excited again. We definitely don’t have that right now because we’re just stuck in a range,” said Matt Maley, chief market strategist at Miller Tabak & Co. “There’s nothing that turns off an individual investor more than something getting stuck in a sideways range.”
At issue is bitcoin needing to find a bottom amid a selloff that’s brought it down 60% this year. Many analysts say that should US stocks form a floor, then the digital token could too, though there’s little consensus on when that might happen. Others argue that once the dollar starts to weaken, then bitcoin might be able to break upwards also.
Waned
Whatever the case, interest in crypto has waned in recent months. Google trends show the general populace has been much less interested in the tokens. And bitcoin’s on-chain activity has been depressed the whole year, according to a note by Jaran Mellerud at researcher Arcane.
“If it is a risk asset, as many including myself have suggested, picking a bottom in BTC is tantamount to picking a bottom in stocks,” Marc Chandler, chief market strategist at Bannockburn Global Forex, said, adding that “the crash has tempered the enthusiasm among” people he speaks to.
With investors sitting things out until bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies can start to rebound, ETF flows have remained muted, too. The money flowing out of crypto-related funds in the third quarter has slowed and some analysts argue the bulk of investors fleeing happened in the second quarter. Now they’re just waiting things out.

There are plenty who say that price recoveries could still be a ways off. That’s the view of Ashley Oerth, senior investment strategy analyst at Invesco, who says that cryptocurrencies tend to be valued not by their own characteristics but by the prevailing macro environment.

“‘Next summer’ (northern hemisphere) for crypto is probably when we see peak hawkishness from central banks and a start to easing policy,” Oerth said. “To the extent that you’re a believer in crypto’s long-term potential, now may be a buying opportunity — if you can stomach the volatility.” — Vildana Hajric, (c) 2022 Bloomberg LP

US Senate Candidate Blake Masters Calls For Biden Impeachment At GOP Gathering In Arizona The Epoch Times
US Senate Candidate Blake Masters Calls For Biden Impeachment At GOP Gathering In Arizona – The Epoch Times https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/us-senate-candidate-blake-masters-calls-for-biden-impeachment-at-gop-gathering-in-arizona-the-epoch-times/
SUN CITY, Ariz.—U.S. Senate candidate Blake Masters said Congress should impeach President Joe Biden for his role in the illegal migrant crisis resulting in a flood of fentanyl across the southern border into the United States.
At the same time, Trump-endorsed Masters, a Republican, said his incumbent opponent, Democrat Mark Kelly, has done little to stem the national security crisis since he took office and should be held accountable.
“Where’s Mark Kelly on this? I think Mark Kelly should have to attend some of the funerals of the [fentanyl victims] on this,” said Masters during a Republican gathering in Sun City, Arizona, on Oct. 1.
“Do you ever get the feeling they’re doing this on purpose?” Masters said.

A crowd of over 400 people attended the event sponsored by the Sun City West Republican Club, during which former Arizona U.S. Senate 2022 primary candidate Jim Lamon voiced support for Masters’ run for Congress.
“This is a huge election for this country,” Lamon said. “We all have to stand united—just like the Marxists, right? They all stand united.”
“One thing I bet we agree on, our country needs us.”
Masters began by asking the cheering crowd, “Who’s waiting for a red wave in a couple of weeks?”
“We have to stay in the fight. We have to act as if our country depends on it.”
Swing State
Masters said Arizona remains pivotal in the election, after having to bear the “brunt” of the illegal immigration and fentanyl crises. He blamed the Democrats’ failed policies in handling the emergencies.
“They have failed in so many respects. Many people talk about the border crisis as some abstraction, as if it’s some act of God. Biden caused it. His policies, right? Thanks to President Trump, we had operational control over our border,” Masters said.
“I knew it was going to be bad, you knew it was going to be bad but, man, I didn’t know it would be this bad … Democrats have exceeded our expectations.”
On Sept. 19, U.S. Customs and Border Protection said the number of illegal alien encounters nationwide in August was 157,921—a 2.2 percent increase from July.
The total number of illegal alien encounters during the past fiscal year ending in September was nearly $2.5 million.
Masters said Biden’s executive order ending border wall construction in 2021 not only “incentivized” illegal immigration but also continued the immigration policy of former President Barack Obama.
The only sanctuary community where illegals are not welcome is Martha’s Vineyard, Masters said to laughter.
In September, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis gained national attention when he sent two planes carrying illegal aliens and potential asylum seekers from Venezuela to affluent liberal Martha’s Vineyard, to the dismay of locals. The illegals were taken away voluntarily to a military base to receive food and shelter.
Good Policy, Bad Policy
Since Biden became president, Masters said the U.S. Department of Justice, Internal Revenue Service, and FBI have become weapons of the Democratic Party.
“Why does every federal agency need a mini-military police force? It’s really dangerous,” he said.
Inflation is rampant with the economy in tatters, and thousands of people die yearly from fentanyl overdoses, he said.
Masters said the Biden administration is pushing for federalized elections to remove state control. He described his U.S. Senate race as a “propaganda war” waged by Democrats, costing his campaign $400,000 weekly in advertising in Maricopa County, Arizona’s most populous.
“In a weird way, Mark Kelly’s [negative] ads are helping me. They are what they call us. It’s projection,” Masters said.
Saying Kelly “votes more in lock-step with Biden, “now we can see the whites of their eyes,” with the Nov. 8 election now 37 days away, he said.
“Mark knows he’s vulnerable,” Masters said. “Look at everything that’s crumbling around you because of Democrat policies. Why believe Democrat attack ads?”
Masters said Democrats fear an America First platform, having “put America last” themselves.
Attorney General Race
Saturday’s gathering also featured Abe Hamadeh, Republican candidate for Arizona Attorney General in the general election. His Democratic opponent is Kristin Mayes.
“My opponent wants to fight the weather; I want to fight criminals,” Hamadeh said, lampooning Mayes’ stance on climate change. “My opponent wants to hunt down businesses.”
Hamadeh called on a united Republican front in a critical election, perhaps the most important in recent history.
“We all understand that we can’t do this alone,” he told supporters.
Of this aggressive border control policy, Hamadeh said on “day one,” he would declare Mexican drug cartels “terrorist organizations.”
Both candidates said they view the 2022 election as a struggle for national survival.
“We have to win. The stakes are too high. If not, [America] is gone—it is gone,” Masters said.

Get Ready, Set, Go… Great Cumbrian Run 2022 Takes Place In Carlisle | News And Star – News & Star https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/get-ready-set-go-great-cumbrian-run-2022-takes-place-in-carlisle-news-and-star-news-star/
THE SUN was shining as runners from all over the county stepped up to the mark and competed in the Great Cumbrian Run 2022, this weekend.
The event, which had Sport In Action partner up with the organisers Better for the first time, attracted running groups, families and fundraisers from all across Cumbria to participate in the half marathon that has been running since 1982.
The run, which was postponed last year, started at The Sheepmount Athletics Stadium in the centre of Carlisle before taking competitors out through the city centre towards Wetheral and returning through Scotby village before a grandstand finish back at The Sheepmount as runners aimed to beat their personal best timings in a half marathon setting.
Some of the groups who slipped on their running shoes include, Wigton Road Runners, DH (Denton Holme) Runners, Cumberland Athletic Club and Border Reivers Runners to name a small few.
Members of the DH Runners (Denton Holme) , who follow the motto ‘go hard or go home’, were keen to get the day underway.
Smiles all-round as runners take their first steps.
The group, which is led by Lindsay Graham, consists of self-proclaimed “slow-runners and fast-runners” who look to run for to improve their own mental well-being.
Ms Graham, who was involved in the announcing on the day, said: “It’s brilliant to have the event running back again, it’s been a bumpy couple of years but today’s looking great and it’s brilliant to have Sport in Action as the event partners.”
DH Runners including Mary Messenger, Kate Imrie, Wendy Beesley, Gill Harding and Helen Cupack
One of the members, Mary Messenger, said: “Above all, we’re here today to have a bit of fun.”
Similarly, the Wigton Road Runners were keen to get started with aims of raising awareness and funds for a charity “very close to the heart” of the group – Prostate Cancer UK.
The running club will also be running their own 10K later this month for the cause, in which they hope to attract many of today’s runners. To find out more information visit their Facebook page.
As runners crossed the starting line on their journey throughout Carlisle and neighbouring villages, the Great Cumbrian Family Run took place – which involved a lap around Bitts Park, with many parents running hand in hand with their children.

Mannarino Doesnt Check Draws; His Next Surprise? A Wawrinka Showdown ATP Tour
Mannarino Doesn’t Check Draws; His Next Surprise? A Wawrinka Showdown – ATP Tour https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/mannarino-doesnt-check-draws-his-next-surprise-a-wawrinka-showdown-atp-tour/
Adrian Mannarino will sleep well Sunday night on the eve of the Astana Open. He’s one of those tennis players who chooses not to dwell on what lies directly ahead.
“I don’t want to talk about the draw or who I’m facing or whatever because I’m not looking,” the 34-year-old said at the beginning of a Sunday interview. “The quality of the tournament? I don’t know anything.”
Given the formidable ATP 500 field gathered in Kazakhstan, it’s probably just as well Mannarino doesn’t know that he’ll be facing three-time Grand Slam champion Stan Wawrinka in the tournament’s very first match (12 noon, local time) on centre court at the National Tennis Centre.
Yes, at the moment, you actually know more than he does. Mannarino is coming off a first-round loss in Tel Aviv, where he was the seventh seed, to fellow Frenchman Constant Lestienne. The good news? He beat Wawrinka in the only match they ever played in the second round of the 2015 Miami Open presented by Itau – prevailing in a pair of taut tie-breaks.
This is one of six first-round singles matches, featuring three seeded players, that will unfold Monday.
Following the opening match, seventh seed Hubert Hurkacz faces Francisco Cerundolo. The night session (6 p.m. local) kicks off with eighth seed Felix Auger-Aliassime versus Roberto Bautista Agut – perhaps the finest quality matchup in the first round. The nightcap is fifth seed Andrey Rublev against qualifier Laslo Djere.
The only doubles match: Ivan Dodig and Austin Krajicek against the Kazakhstani wild-card team of Grigoriy Lomakin and Denis Yevseyev.
The first match of the day on Court 1 has Botic Van de Zandschulp opposite Kazakhstan wild card Beibit Zhukayev.
Van de Zandschulp has a fascinating backstory. He’s played 58 matches so far this year at the tour-level – previously, he had only played 27.
The 26-year-old from the Netherlands is ranked No. 35, but a year ago he had to qualify for all four Grand Slam events. He went a searing 11-1 in those qualifying matches, reaching the main draw at the Australian Open, Roland Garros and the US Open. As it turned out, he got into the Wimbledon field as a lucky loser.
At last year’s US Open, the Dutchman became only the third male qualifier to reach the quarter-finals. There, he faced Daniil Medvedev – and was the only player to take a set from the eventual champion. He finished the season as the Netherlands’ No. 1 and has been adapting to this, his first full season on the ATP Tour.
“Yeah, I think I did quite all right,” Van de Zandschulp said in an interview. “It was pretty tough, actually, playing first time Cincinnati and Montreal, four matches in total. I was not ashamed to lose to [Cam] Norrie or [Daniil] Medvedev.
“Winston-Salem [semi-finals] was good. It’s still figuring out what the best schedule is for me. There’s ups and downs, and hopefully I can manage things to the end of the year.”
The Dutchman will play Astana and is scheduled for Antwerp, Basel and Paris. And then – after “a small vacation” – there is some unfinished business in Australia, where the Netherlands will play in the November Davis Cup quarter-finals. Van de Zandschulp was a big part of the victory in Glasgow, Scotland, where he and his team defeated Kazakhstan, Great Britain and the United States to win Group D.
This season, he said, has involved a steep learning curve. With access to so many tournaments, it’s been difficult to keep his schedule manageable. Previously, when he was playing Challengers, his travel was generally restricted to Europe, with two major trips to Australia and the United States. Traveling more and playing fewer matches – against better opponents – has been challenging.
“You learn a lot from the experience,” Van de Zandschulp. I want to finish the season strong and be in the Top 30 at the end of the year – seeded in Australia. That’s the end goal for the year.”
Unlike Mannarino, he fully understands what is at stake here in Astana. If he manages to defeat Zhukayev, 21-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic could await in the second round.
“On paper, Novak’s the toughest one in the draw,” said the Netherlands star. “Never played him before, and hopefully I can if I win my first match and he wins his. So, yeah, really looking forward to it.
“It’s always nice to play someone for the first time, especially him.”
Road Safety Must Be Declared Public Health Hazard Adomako Ghana Business News
Road Safety Must Be Declared Public Health Hazard – Adomako – Ghana Business News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/road-safety-must-be-declared-public-health-hazard-adomako-ghana-business-news/
On Oct 3, 2022 Last updated Oct 3, 2022
Appiah Kusi Adomako
Mr Appiah Kusi Adomako, West Africa Regional Director of CUTS International, a non-governmental organisation, has reiterated the need for road safety issues to be declared “public health hazards.”
He said: “If we declare road safety as a public health hazard, it will make the Government give more funding for road safety interventions…”
Mr Adomako was speaking at an inaugural meeting and capacity building workshop for Civil Society Organisations’ (CSOs) platform on road safety in Accra, organised by CUTS International.
The forum brought CSOs together to create a common platform to bring about policy changes, amendments, and enforcement of road traffic regulations through dialogue, engagement, and advocacy.
It is aimed at reducing the surge in road accidents as well as ensuring pedestrian safety.
Mr Adomako said though road accidents continued to destroy many lives in the country, not much was done to salvage the situation.
According to him, road accidents had killed more people in Ghana than COVID-19 and other health related deaths, even though the phenomenon was preventable.
He noted that poor road engineering, absence of streetlights, behavioural risk driving, including texting or receiving a call while driving or under the influence of alcohol were preventable causes of road accidents.
Mr Adomako said a strong policy framework and sustained public awareness campaigns with effective enforcement of regulations could contribute to the reduction of road traffic injuries and fatalities.
He said bringing the CSOs on board with an effective collaboration to help address road safety issues in Ghana was key.
Nana Annor Amihere, Chairman of Road Safety Advocates Ghana, asserted that the CSO platform was necessary to promote road safety issues.
He said the country’s arterial roads and highways had been overburdened with heavy vehicles and motorcycles, which contributed to accidents on the roads.
He, therefore, called for an alternative road for those heavy vehicles to lessen the burden on the roads.
Nana Amihere said: “Let us look at railways as alternatives and remove the conveyance of all hazardous and bulk haulage off the roads that has already been overburdened so that we can alleviate all the challenges on the roads.”
Mr Daniel Wuaku, Director, Planning and Programmes at the National Road Safety Authority, expressed satisfaction with the CSO platform and said the NRSA was ready to collaborate effectively with all agencies to promote road safety issues.
He said: “A platform like this, which is basically going to champion advocacy is a step in the right direction. There are several issues that need advocacy to push the agenda forward. We have been calling for the dualisation of all major highways for example, because we know from evidence what head on collision does when there is an accident.”
“We need an independent group that will be putting some pressure on government and decision makers to do what is right so this group coming together to form a strong advocacy wing in the road safety space is a welcome call.”

Tracking trends in sustainable home building has been a decades-long passion of Michael Halflants, FAIA—an award-winning design principal with the Tampa/Sarasota firm, Halflants + Pichette.
On September 22, he shared his insights at the Interior Design Society (IDS) Environmental Design Conference: Green Building, Healthy Lives! on the New College of Florida campus. Halflants served on a panel called “Design for Sustainability and Environment,” and focused on the topic of “Sustainable Density.” He joined two other speakers: landscape architect David Young, who discussed “Environmental Landscape Design”; and interior designer Sarit Marcus, who talked about “How to Create an Eco-friendly, Healthy Home.”
Q: What are some ways that Sarasota is moving in the direction of sustainable building?
A: In Sarasota County, 76 percent of households consist of one or two people, yet most of what’s on the market is living spaces with three bedrooms or more. When the Sarasota Chamber of Commerce surveyed young professionals, almost 80 percent of them stated that they wanted to live in an apartment, and 62 percent of them said they were hoping to find a one- or two-bedroom apartment.
If a municipality restricts the number of residential units per acre to an unreasonably low number, as the City of Sarasota does, it encourages the construction of large condominiums to the exclusion of all others. It’s neither sustainable nor equitable to build an entire city of luxury units. The average unit size should be in the range of 1,200 square feet rather than 4,000. A smaller footprint will use less resources to build and bring more residents in close proximity to restaurants and work. Higher density generates less traffic and a smaller carbon footprint per resident. Many municipalities around the country are subjected to a zoning code that makes it difficult to create smaller units, even though they are more sustainable to build and more inviting to a diverse population in terms of income, age and background. These codes can be described as exclusionary zoning where one is excluding potential buyers who can’t afford an enormous unit. It’s not really possible to create affordable units unless we allow for higher density.
Many of the building issues we have in the states and worldwide could be improved if we went away from the model of single-family lots. In the U.S., land development is growing twice as fast as population growth. In terms of the global population, we’re already spending resources faster than can be sustained, and it’s something that needs to be addressed.

Pirates Contreras Ends Rookie Year On Sour Note Warren Tribune Chronicle
Pirates’ Contreras Ends Rookie Year On Sour Note – Warren Tribune Chronicle https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/pirates-contreras-ends-rookie-year-on-sour-note-warren-tribune-chronicle/
ST. LOUIS — This was not going to be a regular start for Roansy Contreras.
As the Cardinals began their festivities, recognizing Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina ahead of their final regular-season home game that the Pirates won, 7-5 on Sunday at Busch Stadium, Contreras walked to the bullpen alongside bullpen catcher Raul Hernandez.
As Adam Wainwright waxed poetic about his time with Molina and Pujols, Contreras began getting his arm loose, firing off throws to Hernandez.
As Molina fought back tears, Contreras, who had the outfield to himself, advanced out to 120 feet, firing frozen ropes into Hernandez’s awaiting mitt.
As Pujols offered gratitude, Contreras, who was only 16 months old when Pujols made his debut, entered the bullpen.
No, this was not going to be a regular start for Contreras, nor was it the start he would’ve liked to make in his final start of the regular season.
He allowed four runs (two earned) in three innings. He didn’t record a strikeout and walked two batters. His velocity, similar to his last outing, was noticeably down. Above all else, Contreras and Pujols will be forever linked after allowing a solo home run to La Máquina in his final regular season at-bat in St. Louis. It wasn’t the start that Contreras wanted to finish on, but a bitter ending does not take away from an encouraging rookie season.
“Overall, really positive,” manager Derek Shelton said. “There were so many things that Ro did well and things to build on for the next year.”
“Through the ups and downs, I was able to finish the season healthy,” Contreras said through team interpreter Stephen Morales. “Just learning from all the different games and different situations will help me for next year.”
Contreras ends his rookie season with a promising final line. In 21 games (18 starts), Contreras posted a 3.79 ERA and 4.38 FIP with 86 strikeouts across 95 innings. While Contreras pitched 34 1/3 innings across nine starts with Triple-A Indianapolis this season, he is a lock to be part of next season’s starting rotation.
When asked where Contreras has grown the most this season, Shelton pointed to Contreras’ ability to execute on days where the rookie didn’t have his best stuff.
“I think the ability to execute pitches when he doesn’t have his best stuff,” Shelton said. “There have been times where he didn’t have the curveball at all. There have been times where he didn’t have the fastball. The slider is a definite weapon, but the fact that he’s able to pitch without his best stuff at times, I think that’s a very good sign for us.”
The 22-year-old had his share of memorable outings. In his first start of the season, he pitched five scoreless innings with five strikeouts. On July 7, Contreras recorded his first quality start by throwing six innings of one-run ball with seven strikeouts against the Reds. In a stretch of four starts against the Braves, Phillies, Blue Jays and Cardinals, Contreras allowed just four runs across 23 1/3 innings (1.54 ERA).
“The future looks really bright here when it comes to pitching and the starting rotation,” Contreras said. “I feel like every day, things get better and better. It looks like it’s going to be a good future ahead of us.”

Flowing Cloud Tech Debuts On HKEX: Will Become First Metaverse IPO In Hong Kong – EIN News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/flowing-cloud-tech-debuts-on-hkex-will-become-first-metaverse-ipo-in-hong-kong-ein-news/
The first Metaverse HK IPO, Flowing Cloud Technology Ltd(6610.HK), officially launched on 29 Sep with the fundraising amount around US$ 100 million.
The deal was widely sought after by the market in HK and overseas. One the first day of book building, the HK public offering tranche was 5 times oversubscribed, which is the largest HK IPO with such multiples of oversubscribe on the book open day this year.
The international placement tranche was also multiple times covered across the price range on the first day. And it has attracted a good mix of investors, including overseas and Chinese long-only funds, hedge funds, family offices, strategic corporates, etc., believing Flowing Cloud Tech might be the next Unity (U.US) in China.
It is worth nothing that the deal had introduced well-known cornerstone investors including SenseTime, the best AI company in China; state-owned investment arm of Anji, one of the development engines beside Hangzhou in Zhejiang province; Tradego, the widely used fintech platform for securities houses in Hong Kong.
Flowing Cloud is a leading AR/VR software technology service company in China, ranking 1st in China’s AR/VR service market in 2021, accounting for 13.5% of the market share.
From 2019 to 2021, Flowing Cloud’s revenue was RMB 251, 339, and 595 million respectively, and the compound annual growth rate of revenue in the past three years was 54.02%. The revenue in the first quarter of 2022 was RMB 228 million, a year-on-year increase of 65.0%.
The company achieved adjusted net profit in 2021 around RMB 105 million and 315.9% year-on-year rate of increase in the first quarter of 2022.
The AR/VR market in China is showing great momentum, both hardware and software. Developing tools will be the critical building blocks in the prosperity of a new world. Flowing Cloud is one of the best players in the software market to provide development service and kits for Chinese business clients. The company maintains good collaboration with Chinese tech giants, such as Baidu, Huawei, Tencent, JD.com, etc.
Flowing Cloud Tech’s valuation is ranged from HK$ 4 to 5 billion, forward P/E around 15x-20x. The reasonable pricing leaves profits on the table for potential investors. Book continues to grow in size and quality with further conversions from management deal roadshow, and will close on 10 Oct.

Zyron Powerpod And Deskpod Review Smallest GaN Chargers Craving Tech
Zyron Powerpod And Deskpod Review – Smallest GaN Chargers – Craving Tech https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/zyron-powerpod-and-deskpod-review-smallest-gan-chargers-craving-tech/
An Australian company began its journey after launching one of the smallest 66W GaN chargers back in March 2021. GaN charger, if you haven’t heard that before, is basically a modern charger utilising Gallium nitride (GaN) technology to charge devices with less heat and more efficient in charging.
Lots of modern laptops can be charged with this technology and it only requires a USB-C cable and a GaN charger, which is relatively much smaller than the traditional laptop chargers that feel like a heavy brick.
We’re looking at some cool and compact GaN chargers today from Zyron Tech Australia: the Powerpod and Deskpod.
Zyron Powerpod 100
Zyron Powerpod 100 is a compact, 100W USB-C PD Charger. At just 210 grams of weight, it is even lighter than the MacBook Pro 16″ charger yet capable of charging up to 4 devices simultaneously. It comes with an AU plug adapter and foldable, fixed US pin. If you often travel to the UK, EU, or Asian countries, the corresponding travel plugs are also sold separately and will work well with the Powerpod.
Note that Zyron sells a few different Powerpod chargers ranging from 65W to 140W. The one I have here (100W) is more than enough for my needs and has enough power to charge my HUAWEI MateBook X Pro 2020 – which only requires 65-Watt to charge. The charger is compatible with other USB-C powered laptops too from various brands like Dell, HP, Apple, Microsoft, etc.
And of course, smaller devices like your smartphones and tablet devices.
Zyron Powerpod 100 comes with 4 USB ports: 3x USB-C and 1x USB-A port:
1x 100W USB-C PD3.0 Output
1x 100W USB-C PD3.0 Output
1x 20W USB-C PD3.0 Output (for smaller devices like smartphones and tablets).
1x 18W USB-A Quick Charger QC3.0 Output
To charge your modern laptop with USB-C, you can simply plug the included 100W USB-C cable into either the first or second slot (you can see the labels clearly on the charger, which is nice so you don’t need to remember which is which).
The included cable is one-metre length (which may or may not be long enough for you) with overvoltage & overcurrent protection.
While you can charge 4 device simultaneously with the Powerpod, the unit obviously needs to share all the power as you charge, so here’s how it works when you charge more than one device on the Zyron Tech Powerpod 100W:
Basically the 100W USB-C power output will go down a bit as it needs to share power with another port but you can pretty much do your own calculation in mind as you pick which port to use to see if you’re happy with the output power. If you are a heavy-charging user, you may want to grab their Powerpod 140W instead.
I really like the compact design and simplicity of the Powerpod. The labels are clear and the plugs are interchangeable, making it the perfect GaN charger to use at home and also overseas since you can prepare which plug you are going to need before you go.
Zyron Deskpod
Zyron Deskpod, as the name suggests, will be on your desk most of the time. It serves as a charging station while simultaneously saving space on the desk.
Compared to the Powerpod, the Deskpod can actually charge 2 laptops at 60W simultaneously via its dual USB-C ports. It offers up to 156W max output via its four USB ports in total (two USB-C and two USB-A ports):
1x USB-C 100W
1x USB-C 100W
1x USB-A 18W
1x USB-A 18W
You can check the power distribution over on the product page at Zyron Tech website to see what happens when you charge multiple devices simultaneously through these ports.
There is a charging stand included in the packaging that can support up to two small devices like your smartphones and tablets. It’s meant to be placed on the desk so you can just plug your laptop on the desk to power and if need be, charge your phone or tablet at the same time. The stand makes it neat to charge while saving the extra space on your desk.
But even when you don’t use it to charge your devices, you can still use the stand on itself to place your devices neatly on the desk.
A 1-metre cable is also included in the packaging, like the Powerpod.
Weighing 306 grams, I can definitely feel the weight when I lift the Powerpod out of the box for the first time. It’s still a great gadget to carry with you on the trip though but you can also place it permanently on your desk so you can power+use your laptop + charge devices when you need to.
It removes some clutter from your desk and serves an excellent, yet compact charging station within reach.
Make sure to check out the Powerpod and Deskpod over at Zyron Tech, along with the other products they have. And don’t forget to use the coupon code CRAVINGTECH to get 5% off if you are making a purchase!

October Starts but Fails to Ignite Crypto Prices
The opening of the historically crypto boom month of October bore a stronger resemblance to the recent dreary days of September.
Bitcoin was recently trading slightly above $19,200, down 0.5% over the past 24 hours and roughly where it stood at the start of the weekend. The largest cryptocurrency by market capitalization rose briefly above $20,000 last week before descending to the ledge it’s occupied for much of the past month.
“Indecision and lack of buying above $20,000 are pushing Bitcoin to test its recent lows,” Joe DiPasquale, CEO of BitBull Capital, wrote in an email, adding optimistically: “If we do drop sharply, the price may bottom soon and put up a nice rally. However, most bulls may be scared out of their longs before that happens.”
Ether was recently changing hands a little below $1,300, off approximately 1.5% from the previous day. The second largest crypt spent much of the past two weeks trading comfortably above this level. Most other major cryptos were recently off with XRP and ATOM falling more than 4% and 3%, respectively, as investors continued to process a range of largely deteriorating, economic indicators and the latest hawkish comments by U.S. central bank Vice Chair Lael Brainard in a speech Friday.
Cryptos tracked equities, which closed a dismal month with a final dismal trading day on Friday. The tech-focused Nasdaq, S&P 500, which has a strong technology component, and Dow Jones Industrial Average (DJIA) all finished down at least 1.5% amid ongoing fears that the struggle to end high inflation is leading inevitably to a harsh recession – a so-called hard, economic landing.
By the traditional definition of two, consecutive quarters of negative gross domestic product (GDP) growth, the U.S. has already entered a recession, although its severity and length remain uncertain. The Nasdaq and S&P have decline six of the last seven weeks, and the DJIA recently became the latest index to fall into bear market territory, meaning that it has dropped at least 20% from its last high.
A third consecutive monthly decline in pending home sales offered the latest evidence of the once hot housing market’s cooling and wider, economic slowing. Yet the core personal consumption expenditure (PCE), the Federal Reserve’s preferred measure of measuring U.S. inflation, was higher than expected in August, rising 4.9% on a year-over-year basis after increasing 4.7% in July. The reading indicated that inflation will continue to plague the U.S. economy and beyond.
Meanwhile, the cost of Hurricane Ian in structural damage and economic disruption to the Florida presents a fresh wildcard, as First Republic Bank noted in a weekly review to investors. “The total cost of the hurricane is unknown, but given the scale of this natural disaster, it’s possibly one of the most expensive in U.S. history,” the bank wrote. The overall economic effects depend on the breadth and duration of the disaster.”
Investors will be eyeing the release on Monday of September’s ISM Manufacturing index, which is expected to remain unchanged, and the September unemployment rate on Friday, which is expected to remain at its current 3.7% reading.
On Saturday, citing three unnamed sources, CoinDesk reported that Indian exchange WazirX had laid off about 40% of the company’s workforce. And U.S. crypto exchange giant Coinbase temporarily halted transactions from U.S. customers, according to a status update made by the crypto exchange at 7:57 a.m. ET Sunday morning. Later Sunday, the Financial Times reported that Alex Mashinsky, the embattled founder and former CEO of Celsius Network, removed $10 million from the now bankrupt crypto lender weeks before Celsius halted customer withdrawals in June.
“A terrible week, month, and quarter for stocks was not exactly mirrored by Bitcoin,” wrote Oanda Senior Market Analyst Edward Moya in an email, adding that last week’s declines in bond yields had provided “some relief for crypto.”
“Bitcoin’s hodlers remain unfazed and if Wall Street avoids any major de-risking moments, the world’s largest crypto could continue to stabilize here,” he wrote.

The Dollar Can Be a Protocol for the Future of Money
This week in San Francisco I attended Circle Internet Financial’s star-studded Converge conference and was struck by the wide array of projects working with its USDC stablecoin.
Participants included Latin America-based payments company Ripio, which is seeing surging demand for USDC transfers in Brazil and Argentina, or the Web3 service provider Recur, which solely accepts the stablecoin from users of its various metaverse worlds, including Star Trek Continuum.
It seems USDC, the second most-traded stablecoin, is developing its own “ecosystem,” a word (perhaps overused) that open-source advocates apply to networks of third-party developers and providers that build on a tech platform. Below I’ll get to a lesson I see here for U.S. lawmakers contemplating what digital form the dollar should take. But let’s first reflect on these ecosystem ideas as they pertain to a stablecoin like USDC. It’s not an obvious concept, though its implications are profound.
You’re reading Money Reimagined, a weekly look at the technological, economic and social events and trends that are redefining our relationship with money and transforming the global financial system. Subscribe to get the full newsletter here.
Let’s compare Converge to NEARCon, the annual conference sponsored by the Near Foundation I attended two weeks ago in Lisbon. It’s easier to understand that event as an “ecosystem conference.” Like other such gatherings – Ethereum’s Devcon being a prime example – Near uses it to bring together and energize the far-flung community of developers and companies building dapps and other services with smart contracts that run on its protocol.
USDC isn’t a smart contract protocol for dapps. It’s primarily a payment vehicle, conceived of by most people as a “coin.” It is a tokenized expression of dollar-based value that happens to be more fluid than non-digital dollars, one that can be exchanged peer-to-peer over public blockchains. (Circle’s launch on Wednesday of a new cross-chain transfer protocol brings USDC a little closer to a more common definition of a crypto protocol, but it’s not why all those third-party, USDC-tied providers attended the event.)…
In case you missed it, here is the most recent episode of “First Mover” on CoinDesk TV:
Historically, September was a bad month for bitcoin, with the crypto showing negative returns in each of the last five years. Is October’s record better? CoinDesk’s Christie Harkin and George Kaloudis discuss what is impacting the crypto markets and what to watch out for next week.

Greek Life At The U Of A Hosts Its On Us Week University Of Arkansas Newswire
Greek Life At The U Of A Hosts It’s On Us Week – University Of Arkansas Newswire https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/greek-life-at-the-u-of-a-hosts-its-on-us-week-university-of-arkansas-newswire/
The Charlie & Cappy Whiteside Greek Life Leadership Center is proud to announce its annual It’s On Us Week to be held Oct. 3 – 7 on the U of A campus.
“Our goal is to continue providing educational opportunities and resources for all U of A students to prevent sexual assault,” said Parice S. Bowser, director of Greek Life. “This includes working with both faculty and staff to create a change. We all can play a major role by stepping up, stepping in and speaking out to stop sexual assault. It’s On Us, Arkansas.”
It’s On Us, launched in 2014, began as a campaign started by the White House under former President Barack Obama and then-Vice President Joe Biden, to raise awareness and help put an end to sexual assault on college campuses. The campaign serves as an opportunity for students to be a part of the solution. It’s On Us asks everyone to step up and realize they can help end sexual assault.
The aim in hosting this week is to provide opportunities to support survivors, provide educational opportunities, educate individuals on consent, debunk various myths surrounding sexual assault and sexual violence, and to bring awareness to the problem.
The It’s On Us campus campaign has over 82 sponsors and aims to reach a broader base of the population through its pledge and awareness efforts. Everyone is encouraged to sign the official It’s On Us pledge, which will then put their name on the pledge list on the official website.
When asked about the importance of the week, current Panhellenic President Kinsey Landry said, “The Panhellenic Council is an organization for women led by women. With an overwhelming number of sexual assault survivors being women, it’s important for our council to take an active stance against sexual assault and raise awareness. Through educational programming and conversations that take place during It’s On Us Week, we hope sexual violence can come to a stop. We understand that the work that happens this week must continue. There is no place for sexual assault on our campus.”
This year, Greek Life has partnered with a variety of campus and community partners including the Interfraternity Council, Panhellenic Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, United Greek Council, Greek Life Facilitators, Order of Omega, Associated Student Government, University Housing, RESPECT, Center for Sexual and Relationship Violence, NWA Center for Sexual Assault and the U of A Title IX Office. Nighttime Offers Profitable Opportunities_china.org.cn – China.org.cn https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/nighttime-offers-profitable-opportunities_china-org-cn-china-org-cn/
Be it watching the Peking Opera Farewell My Concubine at Dashila in the nation’s capital, having traditional Beijing snacks across the street, or camping on Shanghai’s bustling Nanjing Road, the nighttime economy is taking off in cities across the nation. The market scale is estimated to be over 40 trillion yuan ($5.7 trillion) this year.
As the COVID-19 resurgence is being contained in most Chinese cities, local governments are making the decision to promote business and consumption at night in a bid to capture opportunities at sundown.
The municipal government of Beijing decided to issue 100 million yuan worth of consumption coupons and designed up to 10 nighttime traveling routes to boost the capital’s nighttime economy, the Workers’ Daily reported. More than 20 key business areas and about 10,000 brands take part in various night activities extended through November, the report added.
In East China’s Shanghai, ten iconic scenic spots across the city are also embracing the nighttime economy. As a city built on fashion and innovation, Shanghai is ready to add more hustle and bustle to its evening entertainment repertoire.
In Chongqing, more than 200 featured activities online and offline were held so far this year, making it a sleepless city, the Economy &Nation Weekly under the Xinhua News Agency reported.
In Xi’an of Shaanxi province, consumption of culture and tourism at night is expected to create new growth opportunities, and the provincial capital has allocated several tourism and consumption areas for the nighttime economy including the Xi’an Grand Tang pedestrian street and the City Wall, Shaanxi Daily reported.
About 60 percent of consumption in China takes place at night, according to a report on urban residents’ spending habits by the Ministry of Commerce, said Shen Jiani, a senior researcher from the strategic research center of Trip.com, a tourism platform.
The overall business scale of the nation’s nighttime economy has been expanding rapidly since 2016, thanks to local government policy support, increased venues for consumption at night, as well as people’s rising appetite for spending in the evening, according to a research report from iiMedia Research.
“The Chinese nighttime economy surpassed 30 trillion yuan by the end of 2020, a growth of 5 percent year-on-year, and the figure is projected to exceed 40 trillion yuan in 2022,” the report said.
“Consumption holds great significance to China’s economy, so we can see governments of various levels launching all kinds of measures and businesses to shore up consumption,” said Zhang Yi, chief analyst with iiMedia Research.
“According to our research, most of the consumption activities are made by Chinese people during 6:00 pm to 2:00 am, both online and offline, showing the nighttime economy has great potential,” Zhang explained.
Contrary to the stereotyped impression that consumption at night is usually referring to food and snacks, the iiMedia Research survey shows it covers much wider activities like delivery services, online shopping, and many other cultural and entertainment activities.
“It is a blending of food, shopping, entertainment, tourism, exercise, exhibitions and shows, and the rapid development of digitalization has made consumption more convenient and easier,” Zhang added.
The Chinese New Year holiday this year, for example, showed people’s consumption at night totaled 379 billion yuan, up 27.06 percent year-on-year and accounted for 33.7 percent of all spending during the holiday, the iiMedia Research report on the nighttime economy showed.
In terms of business, dining and snacks accounted for 28.9 percent of the total spending in the evening, followed by shopping at 28.7 percent, entertainment at 19.9 percent and tourism at 15.8 percent, the report added.
Nighttime economy associated with cultural consumption, tourism and leisure activities has become a strategic part of the nation’s economy and social development, Zhao Yijing, head of nighttime tourism research at the China Tourism Academy was quoted as saying by Xinhua News Agency.
As an extension of daytime traveling, tourism in the evening is gradually taking shape over the past several years.
The nighttime traveling economy could be an effective solution for boosting consumption and activating the domestic economy, said Shen Jiani with Trip.com, adding that summer vacation is the annual peak for traveling in the evening.
Over the past five years, ticket booking volumes during summer vacations for touring scenic spots at night are usually 120 percent that of conventional evenings. Specifically, Trip.com found that tickets booked in July for evening travel swell 138 percent month-on-month, and saw a growth of 165 percent from the previous month in terms of passenger trips.
Discovering this trend, local governments have already tapped into this emerging market by laying out night touring development schemes. More than 200 cities have so far launched their own nighttime cultural and tourism revitalization plans including nighttime traveling routes, performances, arts and exhibitions among others, according to statistics from the China Tourism Academy.
Since the beginning of the year, dozens of Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, Shenzhen of Guangdong province, Wuhan of Hubei province, Chengdu of Sichuan province, Changsha of Hunan province, and Xi’an of Shaanxi province have launched their own policies in supporting cultural and travel activities at night, said Shen.
Despite the strong demand for high-quality nighttime traveling products, the majority of the offerings on the market, however, are focused on traditional dining, drinking and shopping. Therefore, there is a shortage of integrated and high-quality products, Shen added.
“From the supply perspective, there is spacious room for enhancing nighttime cultural and tourism products in terms of diversification, breadth and depth. The high-quality development of the nighttime economy looks for more cultural embodiment,” Zhao Yijing with the China Tourism Academy said.
China’s large population, its active and innovative online and offline business models, as well as the nation’s culture and history, create broad opportunities for the nighttime economy to explode, Zhang Yi of iiMedia Research suggested.
According to Zhang, over the past few years, Chinese people’s consumption at night was characterized by an increased proportion of online purchases, rising demand for cultural spending, a smaller gap between eastern Chinese cities and inland areas in the west, as well as robust growth in medium and small cities.

Mongolia Celebrates Completion Of ETT’s Heavy-Duty Railway Project – Business Wire https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/mongolia-celebrates-completion-of-etts-heavy-duty-railway-project-business-wire/
October 02, 2022 09:34 PM Eastern Daylight Time
ULAANBAATAR, Mongolia–(BUSINESS WIRE)–The completion of the Erdenes-Tavantolgoi (ETT) Tavantolgoi-Gashuunsukhait Railway Project has been hailed as a milestone of co-operation in the face of a many longstanding challenges, and celebrated as a major boost for the Mongolian economy.
Speaking at the opening, President Khürelsükh Ukhnaa expressed, on behalf of the Mongolian people, “our deepest gratitude and warm congratulations to ETT for putting this railway into operation on schedule, despite the difficult situation of international geopolitics and epidemics in recent years.” He added that the development “has clearly shown the importance of mutual understanding, proper management, rational policy and responsibility between the government and the private sector.”
The first-of-its-kind heavy duty railway has brought together more than 600 enterprises and 5,000 workers. ETT’s CEO, Mr. Gankhuyag Battulga, recognising the impact that the construction phase of the project has made, also expressed gratitude to “everyone who participated and supported this major development in our country, which is so important for our economy.”
The railway benefits from an absence of restrictions on transportation and border crossings, reducing costs fourfold. It provides annual capacity for an impressive 30-50 million tons of freight, specifically the shipment of coal to neighbouring China. While it is expected to generate a net profit of $ 147.7 million, off an annual revenue of $ 268.9 million, the railway has also created about 2000 permanent jobs, a significant long-term investment in the local economy which will improve quality of life for thousands of people.
The project was first started a decade ago, but almost immediately placed on hold by the Mongolian government in 2013 due to financial concerns and mismanagement issues. Re-initiated in March 2020 with the creation of Tavantolgoi Railway LLC under Government Resolution No. 242, the project was revitalised with Erdenestavan Tolgoi JSC responsible for investment and financing. Together, these entities proceeded with spectacular pace, resulting in the project’s completion in just two years, notable for a project of this size. The project was completed in the face of numerous logistical challenges presented by Covid, which makes its conclusion even more of an achievement.
The Tavantolgoi-Gashuunsukhait Railway was just one of almost twenty ETT infrastructure projects still in development, generating thousands of jobs. While its completion ends one long and arduous challenge, it opens significant new long-term opportunities, and will continue to impact on Mongolia’s economy for generations to come.
AGEWISE: Tips For Avoiding The Flu Winston-Salem Journal
AGEWISE: Tips For Avoiding The Flu – Winston-Salem Journal https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/agewise-tips-for-avoiding-the-flu-winston-salem-journal/
Q: I’ve heard you must be more careful about preventing the flu as you age. Is that true? Do you have any tips for avoiding the flu? — LM
Answer: Taking precautions against the flu virus is especially important for adults over the age of 65, who are more likely to experience severe reactions to the virus due to weakened immune systems as we age. It becomes even more dangerous for people living with conditions such as heart disease or COPD.
The flu is a highly contagious illness. Therefore, taking extra measures to stay healthy is just as important for people who live, work, and interact with seniors as it is for the older adults themselves. Here are some tips for preventing the spread of the flu virus this season:
1. Get vaccinated each year. The viruses change, so vaccines are remade yearly.
2. Wash your hands as often as you can. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
3. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
4. Use a tissue or sleeve to cover up a cough or sneeze.
If you notice someone near you is showing symptoms of the flu or any illness, such as coughing and sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, headache, fatigue, fever or body aches, you should avoid close contact with them until they have not shown symptoms for 24 hours. Also keep in mind that an antiviral drug works best when taken soon after symptoms begin, so don’t wait to call the doctor.
Finally, you can avoid getting the flu by supporting the self-care of those around you. Encourage those who are ill to stay home, drink non-caffeinated fluids, and get plenty of rest.
Flu vaccines are usually available through your personal physician’s office or at most local pharmacies. Contact them for information and pricing. The Forsyth County Department of Public Health also offers flu shots. Information about availability, scheduling, and potential costs at the Health Department can be obtained by calling 336-703-3100.

From Oct. 1 to Oct. 31, customers who receive oil changes, tire rotations or other vehicle maintenance at participating Jiffy Lube locations will be able to donate $3 to Meals on Wheels America at check-out. Participating Jiffy Lube locations in our area are:
Jiffy Lube – 1002 S. Stratford Road, Winston-Salem
Jiffy Lube – 5501 University Parkway, Winston-Salem

The Jiffy Lube locations on Stratford Road and University Parkway want to help keep vehicles for Senior Services’ Meals-on-Wheels volunteers on the road by offering a 15% discount on oil changes and other select vehicle maintenance services. If you are a current Meals-on-Wheels volunteer with Senior Services and would like information about how to access the 15% discount for your next oil change, contact Britnee Tellez at btellez@seniorservicesinc.org.
Volunteering is a great way to enrich your life and add value to our community. Volunteers can deliver meals to the homes of seniors throughout our community any day, Monday through Friday, anytime between 9:45 a.m. and noon. Delivery routes take between 60 and 90 minutes to complete. Most can be done on a 1-hour lunch break and fortunately, many employers offer time off for community service. A person can volunteer once per week, once per month, or any frequency in between.
