Cocina 66 Kicks Off Second Year Of Helping Hispanic Entrepreneurs Grow Business Concepts – News On 6 https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/cocina-66-kicks-off-second-year-of-helping-hispanic-entrepreneurs-grow-business-concepts-news-on-6/ Wednesday, September 28th 2022, 4:38 pm TULSA, Okla. – Tulsa’s food incubator program for Hispanic entrepreneurs is kicking off its next session after helping 20 entrepreneurs in the first year of the program. Cocina 66, the sister program of Kitchen 66 and funded by the Lobeck Taylor Family Foundation, began last fall and focuses on Spanish speakers who want to open a food business. News On 6 got an update on the program by talking to past participants and new ones as more aspiring business owners start their training this week. Valeria and Trinidad Romero make special sauces for their Venezuelan dishes. The sisters own Arepa Bar, selling from Takeover Cafe at Mother Road Market. “This is a great city,” said Valeria. “We are so grateful for this city, this state, this country. Everything has been amazing for us.”  The sisters said their business is top 10 in sales at Mother Road Market although they started just four months ago after graduating from Cocina 66 in the spring. “To know people, know what people want to eat and what works and what does not work,” said Valeria. Elian Hurtado leads the 10-week training with Cocina 66, which covers all the legal steps of opening a business. “We talk about licensing,” explained Hurtado. “All the permits they need. We tell them about how to sell the product, marketing, branding.” Hurtado said of the 20 graduates in the one year the program has been around, three have opened food trucks, seven are selling at Mother Road Market and one is opening a restaurant. “I got emotional because all you need is to give them the tools,” said Hurtado. “When you give them the tools, they can shine, they can succeed.” Sisters Maria “Cristina” and Nayaheli Moguel started the program this week and are excited to learn. “The steps to follow to open a business to learning more,” said Cristina. “We have an idea of what we want, but we need to know the steps,” explained Nayaheli. Their goal is to open a Mexican brunch restaurant and have their family help cook just like they do at home. The current 10 participants in the fall 2022 session will graduate in December with a private food showcase. Those interested in participating in the spring session can apply in January here

Government Of Yukon Invests In Trans Canada Trail Upgrades – Government Of Yukon https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/government-of-yukon-invests-in-trans-canada-trail-upgrades-government-of-yukon/ Published 28/09/2022 The Government of Yukon supports active living and congratulates the Village of Haines Junction on the completion of the newly paved and multi-use, Trans Canada Trail leading from the Village of Haines Junction to Pine Lake Campground. Active transportation not only helps support healthy living but also supports a cleaner and more sustainable future for the Yukon. Improving trail infrastructure will help reduce carbon emissions and promote a more active lifestyle for those wanting to access the Pine Lake Campground from Haines Junction and vice versa.  Paving the Trans Canada Trail results in more accessibility and provides local residents and visitors – whether pedestrians, runners or cyclists – with a safer mode of travel than the highway. This will also help with vehicle congestion in the Pine Lake campground day-use area.  The Government of Yukon continues to make and support improvements to our trails for the benefit of Yukoners and visitors.

PUBG Creators Next Project Is An Open Source Metaverse For Everyone The Washington Post
‘PUBG’ Creator’s Next Project Is An Open Source Metaverse For Everyone – The Washington Post https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/pubg-creators-next-project-is-an-open-source-metaverse-for-everyone-the-washington-post/ Brendan “PlayerUnknown” Greene, the creator of “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” (commonly known as “PUBG”) has embarked on a metaverse project called Artemis. Greene revealed new details about Artemis in Hit Points, a newsletter by video game journalist Nathan Brown. In 2019, the developer announced a new project after leaving the PUBG team: “Prologue,” an open-world survival game on a massive, 40-square-mile map. In Tuesday’s edition of Hit Points, Greene told Brown that “Prologue” will ultimately be a tech demo for the even more ambitious Artemis, an Earth-size virtual sandbox. Companies in the tech world have expressed their ambitions to build the metaverse, the hypothetical next iteration of the internet that technologists surmise will be less like the text-based internet we have now, and closer to a digitized version of the real world. And Greene’s vision of the metaverse is a world owned and shared by everybody. PlayerUnknown Productions, the Amsterdam-based studio Greene founded to develop “Prologue” and Artemis, sounds more like a research and development lab than a game developer. Greene told Hit Points the staff includes nuclear physicists and mathematicians — decidedly not the sort of workers you might typically find on a video game team. But Artemis isn’t really a game in a traditional sense. Greene described it as a decentralized interactive world where the inhabitants are free to make or play whatever they wish. “I’m quite zealous about this,” Greene said. “It has to be made a certain way. The only way this exists is if it’s made for everyone, and it’s not made for money.” It’s a big vision that requires skilled management, which is why Greene brought on former Ubisoft Massive managing director David Polfeldt to the PlayerUnknown team as a senior adviser. The technology to create something like Artemis does not even exist yet. Making a 1:1 scale virtual Earth with thousands of people exploring its fully realized biomes is, currently, an impossible task. The tools for crafting a metaverse mirror of Earth don’t exist yet, at least on a scale that is practical. That is why PlayerUnknown Productions has been singularly devoted to building a game engine, Melba, which will be propped up by machine learning. Building Artemis, Greene said, would require an absurd amount of labor for human engineers, but it may be doable for an AI capable of churning out an entire planet’s worth of trees, plants, valleys, rivers and mountains at a relentless pace. It may also be able to populate Artemis with animals and even human NPCs that behave and interact in realistic ways — as long as the AI is built well and fed the right data. Greene told Hit Points that his studio has already filed several patent applications for some of the tech it has developed, and he shared a little about how it works. “We’ve created some new knowledge here: mapping terrain, populating it with trees and assets, inserting artist-made locations into that terrain,” Greene told Hit Points. “And that’s all done generatively, as you move through the world.” All of this is going to take a long time, about 10 to 15 years by Greene’s estimation. Polfeldt is optimistic about the project’s success and cited the team’s small staff as an advantage rather than a hurdle. To Polfeldt, it means the team can knock out the many objectives ahead of them — task by task — as they steadily march toward the white whale of a planet-size digital playground. Greene has remained open to using blockchain technology. Since anyone in Artemis can create whatever or do whatever they want, Greene said, they’ll need some way to verify proof of ownership or some sort of currency to exchange for providing a service. “We’re building a digital place,” Green said. “That has to have an economy, and it has to have systems at work. … But it’s not about, like, Chanel and Louis Vuitton. It’s some kid called AwesomePickle selling cool skins because he understands what people want.” The dream is for Artemis to be an open source world that anyone can modify with a decentralized ownership. All of Artemis’s inhabitants will have a stake, with PlayerUnknown Productions eventually fading into a “maintenance” role to make sure that things are running smoothly, according to Greene. It’s a place with a framework but “no real rules,” he said. Open-world games — even those with a limited scope and strictly controlled ownership relative to Artemis’s pitch — have already created some fascinating emergent moments, unplanned and often unforeseen by the developers. In 2007, a woman in New York City placed an ad on Craigslist offering sex in exchange for 5,000 gold in “World of Warcraft” to purchase an epic flying mount (the woman claimed to have found a client in a follow-up post). In 2012, the zombie apocalypse title “DayZ” inspired discussions on human nature as players chose to either band together or murder each other over cans of beans in the game’s cutthroat world. In 2005, a “World of Warcraft” glitch that acted like a viral epidemic forced the developer to briefly shut down the game to keep the “virus” from infecting all players — an incident later referenced by epidemiologists researching predictive modeling around covid-19. Greene referenced English computer scientist Tim Berners-Lee, the inventor of the World Wide Web who also gave his creation away freely without copyrights or patents. More recently, Berners-Lee has been deeply critical of Silicon Valley giants controlling vast portions of the web and warning against a future he described as a “digital dystopia.” To that end, PlayerUnknown Productions is going to build Artemis — but Greene wants its inhabitants to determine what it will be. “We want to make our engine easy to mod, and to make it open source so everyone can participate,” Greene told Brown. “It won’t be PlayerUnknown’s Metaverse, just like it isn’t Tim Berners-Lee’s internet. It has to be owned by everyone.”

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Is Great But It Wont Make Me Play Cyberpunk 2077 TheGamer
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Is Great But It Wont Make Me Play Cyberpunk 2077 TheGamer
Cyberpunk: Edgerunners Is Great, But It Won’t Make Me Play Cyberpunk 2077 – TheGamer https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/cyberpunk-edgerunners-is-great-but-it-wont-make-me-play-cyberpunk-2077-thegamer/ I’m not much of an anime head, as my colleagues constantly bemoan. I’ve seen most Studio Ghibli films, the first few series of Pokemon, and Death Note, but that’s it. I’m not going to watch 1,000 episodes of One Piece, and although Cowboy Bebop has been recommended to me time and time again, I still haven’t got around to watching it. But ten short episodes set in the Cyberpunk 2077 universe? Sure, I’ll give it a shot. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners was great. I enjoyed the second half much more than the first, but overall it was a really cool story propelled by great characters. The show explored concepts of losing your humanity as you augment your flesh with increasingly complicated bionics in interesting ways, and the central love story was as poignant as it was tragic. Gory fight scenes are full of unrealistic athletics, time-slowing gadgets, and more explosions than a Schwarzenegger flick. For an anime noob, it was perfect. On the other hand, we have Cyberpunk 2077. While I only played five to ten hours of CD Projekt Red’s RPG before I got bored and turned it off, I’ve read a lot about it. I’m aware that’s no substitute for playing the game, but everything I’ve read has turned me off it, and I’m not even talking about bugs. When it first launched (and was subsequently pulled from stores), I read about its childish views of sex (something Edgerunners sadly replicates), its useless skills, and the fact that Cyberware barely worked. You can only play by shooting your way through levels, there’s no place for hackers or any other roleplaying in Night City, no matter how hard you try. Since joining TheGamer nearly a year ago, I’ve read and edited countless articles about Cyberpunk 2077, and have therefore read up even more on the subject to provide useful and constructive advice. I’ve read about a world full of locked doors and buildings you can’t enter, racial stereotypes and poor-to-useless cosmetic upgrades. Sure, there are apparently some great characters, quests, and set pieces, but it’s clear to me this is not the game that will replicate the Edgerunners experience. I don’t care about getting David’s yellow jacket or spotting the Edgerunners references that have been patched into 2077, I want to upgrade myself with an Arasaka Exoskeleton so I look more like a Warhammer 40,000 Dreadnought than I do a man, become a metal monster and wreak havoc in Night City of my own accord. But that’s not an option for V, whose cyberware only buffs stats and grants abilities rather than giving her any cosmetic changes or significantly changing her playstyle. The only real physical upgrade is the Mantis Blades, which I’m told are useless when melee combat is rare and ineffective. While I’ve also been made aware that a cyberpsycho does wear a similar exoskeleton in the game, that’s not enough. What’s the cyberpunk genre without the risk of losing your humanity? Edgerunners tells that story perfectly, and while I don’t know how Johnny Silverhand gets to grips with his virtual life in V’s head, nothing tells me that 2077 will even attempt to tackle similar existential questions. From the outside, Cyberpunk 2077 looks all style and no substance. The character creator – which I did use in my short playthrough – is a prime example of this. You can match any genitals with either of the binary genders, but your voice is locked to being deep for a male V or high for a female. Everything is for show, to create a cool-looking world filled with edgy-looking people, but nothing goes deeper. Nothing is explored or analysed, none of the most interesting genre concepts used for anything more than epic set pieces. Maybe I’m wrong, and maybe Cyberpunk 2077 does a great job of embodying and interrogating cyberpunk ideas but it just so happens that nobody talks about that aspect of the game. But, at least from the outside, Edgerunners seems to achieve that better in its ten short episodes than 2077 does in its 100 hours of gameplay. Either way, I’m not going to waste my time in finding out. Next:

China’s Crypto Billionaire Stocks Up On Precious Metals, Gems And Fine Art – Kitco NEWS https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/chinas-crypto-billionaire-stocks-up-on-precious-metals-gems-and-fine-art-kitco-news/ (Kitco News) Chinese crypto billionaire Jihan Wu is diversifying into physical assets, including precious metals, gems and fine art, with his recent purchase of what is dubbed Asia’s Fort Knox. Bitdeer Technologies Holding Co., which Wu leads, paid $28.4 million to purchase Le Freeport, which is a state-of-the-art maximum security vault in Singapore designed and engineered by a team of Swiss architects and engineers. The news was reported by Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter. Jihan Wu is an influential figure in the crypto space. He founded Bitmain Technologies Ltd, which is the largest Bitcoin mining-machine manufacturer, with a revenue of $5.6 billion in 2021. Wu left the company last year and is now heading up its Bitcoin-mining spinoff Bitdeer and crypto-finance company Matrixport. The vault’s depository includes gold and silver bars, precious gems, and fine art from shareholders headed up by Swiss art dealer and founder Yves Bouvier, the media report said. The transaction was private and happened in July. Prior to this, Bouvier had been unsuccessful in trying to sell Freeport, located in Singapore near Changi airport. Freeport began operations more than a decade ago, intending to appeal to customers such as collectors, wealth managers, and major bullion traders. “The facility offers integrated services to handle the shipping, storage, display and trade of these valuables … Maximum security and 24/7 security access. Stringent security provisions include electronic monitoring of staff, clients and valuables as well as armed guards,” described Freeport’s website.  According to the deal, Bitdeer is the sole shareholder of Straitdeer Pte., which now is the new owner of Asia Freeport Holdings Pte. In another development, Wu is also forming a fund worth $250 million to buy up distressed assets from mining firms. “We can buy the cheaper machines and run them in our existing facilities with stable and cost-effective power purchase agreements,” Bitdeer CEO Matt Kong told Bloomberg. Bill To Add Muscle To Antitrust Efforts Up For Vote In U.S. House – Reuters https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/bill-to-add-muscle-to-antitrust-efforts-up-for-vote-in-u-s-house-reuters/ WASHINGTON, Sept 28 (Reuters) – The U.S. House of Representatives is scheduled to vote late Wednesday on advancing a bill that would update fees companies pay for merger reviews and strengthen state attorneys general in antitrust fights, according to Majority Leader Steny Hoyer’s office. The bill combines measures introduced by Representative Joe Neguse, a Democrat, and Representative Ken Buck, a Republican, It would allow state attorneys general to choose which court they want to hear antitrust cases. Defendants would not be allowed to request a change of venue. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Texas, along with other states, brought an antitrust action against Alphabet Inc’s Google in 2020 which the search and advertising giant succeeded in moving from Texas to a New York court, angering conservatives. Representative Zoe Lofgren, a California Democrat, joined with at least four other California Democrats to urge that the bill be defeated because of the venue measure. California is home to some of the biggest tech companies, including Google and Meta’s Facebook. The measure also lowers the fees paid for antitrust reviews of smaller deals. But bigger deals will be more expensive. Deals worth $5 billion or more will pay $2.25 million to regulators doing the antitrust review. The reviews are conducted by the U.S. Justice Department’s Antitrust Division and the Federal Trade Commission. The Senate has passed a bill giving state attorneys general the right to pick the venue for antitrust fights but has not passed a bill to update merger filing fees. Blinken Says US Will ‘look For Ways To Facilitate Technology Services’ To Iranians To Maintain Access To Internet Amid Blackouts – ABC 57 News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/blinken-says-us-will-look-for-ways-to-facilitate-technology-services-to-iranians-to-maintain-access-to-internet-amid-blackouts-abc-57-news/ By Jennifer Hansler and Kylie Atwood, CNN (CNN) — US Secretary of State Antony Blinken said Tuesday that the Biden administration “will certainly look for ways to facilitate technology services being made accessible to people in Iran” amid widespread internet outages during the nationwide unrest. Anti-government protests have raged across Iran after 22-year-old Mahsa Amini died in the custody of the nation’s morality police in mid-September. Last week, the US Treasury Department issued a general license meant to allow companies to provide services for internet access to Iranians without fear of sanctions. At a press conference Tuesday, Blinken noted that the new general license “authorizes companies to provide things like cloud services, privacy technology, security technology, hardware and software to enable the Iranians to better communicate among themselves and also with the rest of the world.” “Individual companies can come to us, to OFAC in this case, to determine whether their technology fits under the license,” he added, referencing the Office of Foreign Assets Control. However, technological hurdles remain, as certain services require hardware to function. Blinken declined to say if the US would work with companies to physically get such hardware into Iran. The US and Iran do not have diplomatic relations and the US government does not have a presence there. State Department spokesperson Ned Price said Monday it was up to private companies to “take steps that they deem appropriate” to broaden internet access in Iran, and did not offer details about whether the newly issued US general license has made a tangible difference in expanding that access. “The Treasury Department, through the general license, has taken steps that, through its self-executing capacity, authorizes additional companies to provide software in some cases, hardware, that would be operational in Iran,” he said at a press briefing Monday. “Of course, we’re not going to speak to what would be required for any such hardware to get into Iran. It is our charge, it is our responsibility to see to it that there are no restrictions, US government restrictions, that would prevent relevant software, in some cases, hardware from being operational inside of Iran,” he said. In addition to issuing the general license, the Biden administration also imposed sanctions on the morality police last week “for abuse and violence against Iranian women and the violation of the rights of peaceful Iranian protestors.” “Mahsa should be alive today,” Blinken said Tuesday. “The only reason she’s not is because a brutal regime took her life and took her life because of decisions she should be making about what she would wear or not wear.” “Women in Iran have the right to wear what they want, they have the right to be free from violence, they have the right to be free from harassment. That’s true in Iran, it’s true, should be true everywhere,” he said. The-CNN-Wire & © 2022 Cable News Network, Inc., a Warner Bros. Discovery Company. All rights reserved.

NUTRISHOP Gets Real About Gut Health PR Newswire
NUTRISHOP® Gets Real About Gut Health – PR Newswire https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/nutrishop-gets-real-about-gut-health-pr-newswire/ A healthy gut is vital for so many reasons. Here are tips to improve yours.  , /PRNewswire/ — Gut health has indeed skyrocketed to the top of health and wellness concerns, but if it didn’t happen on social, then it didn’t really happen, right? Well, it has happened on social. Enter the latest trending hashtag on TikTok: #Guttok. More than a billion posts on this platform highlight gut (a.k.a. the gastrointestinal tract) problems and potential solutions. Rather than wade through all those posts, here are some insights and valuable tips from Nutrishop, a national retail nutrition franchise specializing in dietary and nutritional supplements, vitamins and wellness.  Discover a wide array of products that help support the gut at your local Nutrishop location or online at NutrishopUSA.com. First, it’s important to know that the bacteria in your gut play a huge role in your well-being. They are responsible for your digestive system and affect everything from metabolism and mood to brain function and the immune system. In fact, your gut is a major part of your immune system. “Your gut helps usher all the nutrients and micronutrients in your foods to the body – and works hard to keep out pathogens, bacteria, and more,” said Brittinie Wick, a fitness and nutrition coach and Nutrishop brand ambassador who regularly contributes to Nutrishop’s Learning Center. “When gut microbes are out of balance, it can cause all sorts of problems, from digestive upset to chronic inflammation and immune system issues.”  With this in mind, we’ve gathered some tips from Wick along with Nutrishop franchisee Jay Vicino on ways to improve gut health. These suggestions are in addition to the standard healthy living tips of getting eight hours of quality sleep per night and drinking plenty of water daily to stay hydrated. Believe it or not, practicing those two tips alone will help keep your gut healthy and happy! Keep reading for additional tips.  Eat a clean, healthy diet. Processed and ultra-processed foods (think chips, crackers, cookies, fries, etc.) have been shown to negatively impact the gut microbiome because they break down easily into sugar, a sworn enemy to healthy gut flora. Instead, try to get your nutrition from whole, nutritious foods like veggies, lean meats, whole grains, and low glycemic fruits. “With the tremendous amount of processing in food options across America, we’re constantly battling higher levels of acidity in our gut,” warned Vicino, who owns the successful Mt. Juliet, TN Nutrishop location and is ISSA-certified in nutrition. “We regularly recommend to our clientele to be as selective as possible in the grocery stores and to increase their daily greens intake.” Exercise regularly. The current Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans state we should get at least 150 minutes of moderate-intensity physical activity each week, along with two days of strength training. Even if all you do is walk briskly, it’s better than nothing when it comes to supporting the gut. “Physical exercise will stimulate your circulation and blood flow and deliver nutrients and oxygen to all body parts, including the gut,” Wick said. “Plus, exercise – yes, even walking – helps your body move food through your digestive tract.” Get 20-30 grams of fiber a day. Fiber can help balance your gut bacteria. The current recommendation for fiber intake is 25 grams per day for women and 38 grams for men. If that is more than you usually eat, try slowly increasing your fiber intake so you don’t feel bloated, uncomfortable, and gassy, said Wick. Since it’s fall, she suggested adding butternut squash to your meals. “Butternut squash is delicious, full of vitamins and minerals, and high in fiber and antioxidants!” Reduce stress. Research shows that when you’re stressed, your gut knows it, which might result in some uncomfortable gastro issues like diarrhea and gas. “Your body has a more challenging time digesting food when it’s tense and stressed out,” Wick said. “One way to reduce stress is by doing deep breathing exercises. When you do this, think about breathing down deep into your belly!” As an extra step, Nutrishop offers Restōr Stress Formula with Ashwagandha and other key ingredients to help support optimal health and well-being for your body and mind. Consider probiotics and prebiotics. Both probiotics and prebiotics support healthy bacteria in your gut. “It’s important to know the difference between PREbiotics and PRObiotics,” Wick said. “Probiotics are the ‘good’ microorganisms – such as bacteria and yeasts – that live in your intestines. Prebiotics feed the probiotics in your gut. You can get both of these by adding a variety of fibrous and fermented foods.” Some probiotic foods include kimchi, kombucha, kefir, yogurt and sauerkraut. Some prebiotic foods include red kidney beans, oats, grapefruit, bananas, asparagus, mushrooms, watermelon and chickpeas. Supplement it. Many health-conscious individuals turn to supplements to help fill in the gaps of their nutrition needs, including probiotics and digestive enzymes. One of the most popular stacks sold at Nutrishop locations nationwide during the holidays and beyond is the Jumpstart Stack (Gut Formula, 7-Day Cleanse and SuperMulti+). This stack is touted for its ability to “clean house” by getting rid of the “ick” and replacing it with vital micronutrients, all while supporting gut health for an overall feeling of optimal well-being. Another popular stack throughout the holiday season and beyond is the Complete Detox & Cleanse Stack (Gut Formula, Daily Detox and Liver Complex). “Gut Formula alone is not only loaded with good-for-your-gut ingredients like probiotics, digestive enzymes, apple cider vinegar, peppermint, caprylic acid, and more, but if you were to buy all these ingredients individually, it would cost over $200,” Vicino said. “Thankfully, Gut Formula contains everything you need in one bottle.” If you would like additional suggestions or want to learn more about what Nutrishop can do to help you with your nutrition needs, visit your local Nutrishop store and speak with a knowledgeable professional today. Some of these destinations, such as Belleayre Mountain Ski Center, sit less than a three-hour drive from Manhattan, positioning them perfectly for a quick getaway from New York City. Whether you’re planning on a day of hitting the slopes or a romantic weekend away, the Empire State’s ski resorts are sure to have something for every age and ability level. From bunny hills to double black diamonds and off-slope activities such as snowshoeing, snow tubing and cross-country skiing, New York state is a winter wonderland for skiing and more. Here are the state’s top ski resorts for your next ski vacation. (Note: Some of the following ski resorts and locations may be affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. New policies may be in place, including requirements for proof of vaccination, capacity restrictions, reservation requirements or mask mandates. Check with your chosen establishment and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention before your visit.) HoliMont Ski Club: Ellicottville, Chautauqua-Allegheny HoliMont is America’s largest private ski club. The mountain features seven chairlifts and 56 trails that cover 135 skiable acres, as well as a state-of-the-art snowmaking system. During the weekends in winter, the mountain is open for members only, which means far fewer skiers and snowboarders on the slopes. Previous visitors can’t say enough great things about the grooming of the runs and the lack of crowds. On-mountain amenities include gear rentals, a cafeteria and a mountain shop. You can enjoy cold weather activities like downhill skiing, cross-country skiing and snowshoeing at this New York ski resort. Annual membership includes access to the lifts for skiing and mountain biking with no lines, exclusive perks and events, country club reciprocals, ski clinics taught by Olympic skiers, and more. HoliMont Ski Club also offers a ski school for beginners or those who want to take their skills to the next level. For students who need extra assistance, the resort’s adaptive ski and snowboard program caters to individuals with disabilities. Belleayre Mountain Ski Center: Highmount, Catskills (Courtesy of Belleayre Mountain) Located in the heart of the Catskill Mountains, Belleayre Mountain Ski Center has 64 trails over 175 skiable acres. With more than half of the trails geared toward intermediate skiers and snowboarders, Belleayre is a good mountain for visitors who particularly enjoy blue square or black diamond runs. Trail coverage is typically good, with snowmaking that covers 96% of the mountain. A highlight for some visitors is the gondola, which they call fun for kids and a great way to stay warm while getting up to the top during cold weather. If you’re not into downhill skiing, you can enjoy nearly 6 miles of scenic cross-country trails. The resort has plenty of on-site dining to keep you fueled throughout the day, including grab-and-go food, deli soups and sandwiches, pub food, and waffles. Prior to heading up, check the snow report or get a lay of the mountain by viewing the trail map on Belleayre’s website. You can also skip the ticket window and head straight to the slopes with a reloadable SKI3 Card that allows access through the RFID direct-to-lift gates. At and around the resort, there are a variety of lodging options, from cabins and bed-and-breakfast inns to internationally acclaimed hotels and private home rentals. While making your way to or from the mountain, stop to explore the quaint villages and towns along the way. Whiteface Mountain: Wilmington, Adirondacks Located in the Adirondacks, Whiteface Mountain has a summit elevation of 4,867 feet with a massive vertical drop of 3,430 feet. So, if you prefer it steep, this ski resort is the place to go. Expert skiers will particularly love the narrow chutes known as The Slides. For those who like long downhill runs, the 2.1-mile Wilmington Trail is one of the longest intermediate runs in the Northeast. The mountain has 90 trails covering more than 22 miles with a variety of chairlifts and a gondola. Families in particular love taking little ones to the top on the scenic gondola, which is open year-round. The eight-seater Cloudsplitter Gondola whisks guests to the top of Little Whiteface in 15 minutes with dramatic views of the Adirondacks and Lake Placid. Even non-skiers can pack some snacks to enjoy at the top, where there’s a picnic area and observation deck. This historic ski area is part of Lake Placid’s Legacy Sites, having been a venue for the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980. While in the area, the impressive Olympic Jumping Complex about 20 miles away is worth a visit to witness ski jumpers training. Thrill-seekers can also try out bobsledding at speeds of up to 50 mph at Mount Van Hoevenberg. With so much to do around Whiteface Mountain, the Lake Placid area makes a great weekend getaway destination. Spend a night or two at the rustic yet luxurious Whiteface Lodge to enjoy multiple on-site restaurants and the relaxing spa. Gore Mountain: North Creek, Adirondacks (Courtesy of Gore Mountain) With the most skiable terrain in New York state, Gore Mountain is a popular ski and snowboard area that includes four peaks. Visitors appreciate the variety of runs to choose from for varying ability levels, ensuring the whole family can have fun on the mountain. In addition to downhill skiing, there are plenty of other activities at Gore Mountain, such as snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, terrain parks and glade skiing (skiing off-trail in the trees). And the fun doesn’t stop when the sun goes down: Twilight skiing is offered at the Ski Bowl, where the slopes are lit up at night. In between runs, grab a casual, cafeteria-style lunch at the food court in the lodge. For nearby accommodation, The Alpine Lodge offers mountain-chic guest rooms and suites with amenities that range from fireplaces and hot tubs to full kitchens. Bristol Mountain: Canandaigua, Finger Lakes Come day or night to Bristol Mountain to ski or snowboard in the Finger Lakes region of New York. If you’re a first-time skier or snowboarder, take advantage of the resort’s group lesson packages for customized instruction in a small group with your lift ticket and rentals included; you can also opt for a private lesson or a multiweek program for either children or adults. The mountain features 138 acres of skiable terrain – all covered by the snowmaking system – with 39 slopes and two high-speed quads to get you to the top with haste. The quick lifts and long runs were two highlights for recent travelers at Bristol Mountain. If you’re an advanced skier or snowboarder seeking a taste of racing, the Morning Star Race Park is free for nontimed open-gate runs. Cross-country skiers can explore almost 2 miles of Nordic trails. If you’ll be enjoying the mountain for multiple days, stay slopeside at one of North Star Village’s townhouses. Holiday Valley: Ellicottville, Chautauqua-Allegheny (Courtesy of Holiday Valley) Located in Ellicottville, Holiday Valley offers downhill skiing (day and night), snowboarding, cross-country skiing, snowshoeing and tubing. This family-friendly ski resort is good for both beginners and experts, and lift tickets for children ages 6 or younger are free. Get a feel for the mountain through the interactive map online. Recent ski school participants praise the certified instructors for being patient, experienced and friendly. In addition to offering ski school for little ones (as well as adults), Holiday Valley can also provide day care for kids who aren’t ready to tackle the slopes. Other kid-friendly activities include searching the mountain for the Seneca Clan Rocks that represent the eight clans of Native American nations from western New York. If cross-country skiing is your thing, there are free trails for varying ability levels. Beginners can stay near the bottom, around the golf course, while more advanced skiers can journey along the top ridgeline of Holiday Valley. Non-skiers can zip down the mountain on the popular two-person Sky Flyer Mountain Coaster, which is a thrilling ride through the snowy woods; go snow tubing; or enjoy some relaxation at the Ellicottville Oasis Spa at the Tamarack Club. For ski-in/ski-out accommodation via the Sunrise Chairlift, the Inn at Holiday Valley is a convenient option that offers spectacular views. Kissing Bridge: Glenwood, Greater Niagara With 700 skiable acres, there is a lot of terrain for all ability levels at Kissing Bridge. Downhillers can speed down the 39 slopes, while visitors who want a bit more of a workout can travel up the slopes with skins or snowshoes. The mountain offers rental equipment, lessons, children’s programs, terrain parks, on-mountain dining and nearby lodging. Families can save money with a Family Season Pass and take advantage of Kissing Bridge’s many activities, such as a guided group snowshoeing tour or the “Family Fun Adventure” package that includes a private ski or snowboard coach to work with your entire family. Visitors highly recommend this resort for its reasonable prices. Hunter Mountain: Hunter, Catskills Located in the Great Northern Catskills with a base elevation of 1,600 feet and 320 skiable acres, Hunter Mountain is known as the “Snowmaking Capital of the World” and says its snowmaking capabilities cover 100% of its runs. Note, though, that some visitors said the wait in the lift lines...

Proserv Acquires Stake In Power System Monitoring Expert Synaptec – Aberdeen Business News – Aberdeen Business News https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/proserv-acquires-stake-in-power-system-monitoring-expert-synaptec-aberdeen-business-news-aberdeen-business-news/ GLOBAL controls technology company Proserv has acquired a minority stake in Glasgow based power system monitoring expert, Synaptec, with whom it had initially formed a strategic alliance in October 2020 to drive forward the innovation of disruptive condition-monitoring technologies for the energy sector. Synaptec developed as a spin out business from Strathclyde University in 2014 with its management team, Board of Directors and Advisory Board comprising former leaders from the power sector, academic professors and energy entrepreneurs. A technology consortium led and driven by Proserv, including Synaptec and subsea power cable engineering and consultancy specialists BPP Cable Solutions, with initial support from the Offshore Renewable Energy Catapult (OREC), has collaborated to innovate the pioneering holistic cable monitoring system, ECG, for the offshore wind segment. Proserv’s ECG utilises Synaptec’s passive electrical and mechanical instrumentation systems, integrating its unique distributed electromechanical sensors, or DES, as a key element. The potential capabilities of ECG, regarding real-time monitoring and predictive insights, saw it receive £1mn development funding from Innovate UK in 2021, alongside subsequent industrial sponsorship from ScottishPower Renewables and Equinor. The technology has won a landmark contract on phases A and B of the vast Dogger Bank Wind Farm and it is to be demonstrated on Equinor’s floating Hywind Scotland Wind Farm later this year. Synaptec is one of several technology disrupters and start-ups with whom Proserv has recently forged alliances, including data analytics firm Intelligent Plant in late 2020 and real-time optimisation innovators Ortomation just last month. These moves reflect Proserv’s collaborative philosophy towards innovation, as well as its strategic roadmap to pivot its business to the needs and priorities of the evolving energy transition. This investment strengthens an already fruitful connection between Proserv and Synaptec, who will continue their work together to create and deliver instrumentation solutions to solve the many challenges faced by offshore renewables developers. Proserv’s Vice President, Renewables, Paul Cook, commented: “We have formed a close working relationship with the Synaptec team over the past two years as we have combined our controls and integration expertise, and reputation, with its own unique power system monitoring capabilities, leading to the generation of disruptive new solutions to support the offshore wind space. “We look forward to further collaboration as we seek to identify more opportunities where we can deploy our know-how right across the energy sector.” Synaptec’s Chairman Dave Pratt remarked: “Synaptec is delighted that Proserv has become one of our investors, joining our existing shareholders who also supported this funding round. As a well-established, experienced provider of control and instrumentation systems, Proserv brings fundamental technical and commercial expertise which will be vital to ‘business as usual’ implementation of Synaptec’s sensor technology. “Our integrated systems are already being deployed on the world’s largest offshore wind farm and the world’s first floating wind farm. Proserv’s investment and support will help Synaptec scale up to meet increasing market demand.” As part of the transaction, Proserv’s Chief Executive Officer Davis Larssen will take up a seat on Synaptec’s Board of Directors. Speaking after the agreement, he said: “I am delighted to take up a seat on Synaptec’s Board. This is a team comprising both technical excellence and a pioneering, creative outlook, very much like our own. “Our commitment to acquiring a stake in the business cements our relationship further and builds progressively on what has been an open and constructive alliance. At Proserv, we always seek to develop and nurture partnerships that will ultimately lead to genuine gains and benefits for the broader energy market.”

The Conference will lay out a transformational vision for ending hunger and reducing diet-related disease by 2030 – all while closing disparities among the communities that are impacted most. Achieving our goals will require more than just the resources of the federal government. That’s why, this summer, the White House launched a nationwide call to action to meet the ambitious goals laid out by the President. Across the whole of society, Americans responded – and advanced more than $8 billion in private- and public-sector commitments. These range from bold philanthropic contributions and in-kind donations to community-based organizations, to catalytic investments in new businesses and new ways of screening for and integrating nutrition into health care delivery. At least $2.5 billion will be invested in start-up companies that are pioneering solutions to hunger and food insecurity. Over $4 billion will be dedicated toward philanthropy that improves access to nutritious food, promotes healthy choices, and increases physical activity. Today, the White House announces a historic package of new actions that business, civic, academic, and philanthropic leaders will take to end hunger and to reduce diet-related disease. Pillar 1 – Improve Food Access and Affordability AARP: AARP and AARP Foundation will expand research on older adults’ access to SNAP and use this research to improve SNAP enrollment rates for older adults, which still lag behind other populations. By 2024, AARP will additionally complete new research to identify the key characteristics of non-participating yet eligible older adults and the key drivers of low SNAP enrollment, which it will share widely to inform policy, advocacy, and on-the-ground efforts to boost awareness and enrollment among older adults. BENEFITS DATA TRUST: National nonprofit Benefits Data Trust will leverage technology to improve access to public benefits, including by publishing a new toolkit in early 2023 to help states and higher education institutions identify and enroll eligible college students in public benefit programs like SNAP, Medicaid, and the new Affordable Connectivity Program, the FCC’s broadband benefit program to help low-income households access the internet. Benefits Data Trust’s toolkit will be the first in a series it develops to help eligible students enroll in public benefits. BOWERY: Bowery, an indoor vertical farming company, commits to forging new partnerships with hunger-relief organizations and expanding local produce donations by thousands of pounds. By 2023, Bowery will open new farms in Texas and Georgia and donate hundreds of pounds in fresh produce to the Tarrant Area Food Bank – serving Fort Worth, Arlington, and Dallas – and to the Atlanta Community Food Bank. This fall, Bowery will also launch a new partnership with East Brooklyn Mutual Aid to donate and distribute fresh produce across East Brooklyn. Finally, the company will expand its partnership with DC Central Kitchen’s Healthy Corners program to provide a new line of salad kits at a significant discount to 53 corner stores in DC’s Wards 7 and 8 that currently lack access to healthy food options. In total, in 2023 Bowery commits to donating over 10,000 pounds of produce through both these partnerships and additional existing donation efforts in Maryland, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. CHOBANI: Chobani will launch a national corporate responsibility initiative – Food Access in Reach (F.A.I.R.) – to encourage businesses of all sizes to “adopt-a-school” and pledge to make it food- and nutrition-secure. As part of this initiative, businesses including Chobani will pledge to help schools meet child nutrition standards, and pay their employees at least a $15/hour minimum wage to reduce hunger within their own ranks. Chobani itself will adopt 3 schools (in Twin Falls, ID; Central New York; and New York City) in 2023, with a goal for businesses and partners across the country to have adopted at least 50 schools by 2030. DOORDASH: DoorDash will partner with 18 cities – Mesa and Tucson in Arizona; Oakland and Riverside in California; Paterson and Camden City in New Jersey; Albany, Mt. Vernon, and Rochester in New York; Columbus, Ohio; Tacoma, Washington; Denver, Colorado; Hartford, Connecticut; Tampa, Florida; Atlanta, Georgia; Baltimore, Maryland; Pawtucket, Rhode Island; and Richmond, Virginia – to combat hunger by addressing transportation barriers to accessing healthy food. The company will provide targeted support through: $1 million in DoorDash Community Credits, which community-based organizations can use to provide free food delivery; access to Project DASH on the DoorDash logistics platform, which food banks, food pantries, and other charitable organizations can use to power charitable food delivery; and direct funding of in-kind charitable food deliveries through the platform. FOODCORPS: Over the next 8 years, national nonprofit FoodCorps will invest $250 million to increase access to free and nourishing school meals and to expand hands-on nutrition education in schools. Through this Nourishing Futures initiative, FoodCorps aims to reach 500,000 students by 2030. Additionally, the organization commits to training 1,000 emerging leaders of color for careers in school nutrition services to improve the diversity of school-based nutrition professionals and support culturally relevant meals and menus. FMI – THE FOOD INDUSTRY ASSOCIATION: FMI – The Food Industry Association will mobilize its membership to donate 2 billion meals in 2023 to food banks and other anti-hunger organizations; make it easier to use SNAP and WIC benefits online and in retail settings; and promote consumer education on healthy foods – committing to reach a minimum of 100 million consumers each year from 2023 to 2030. Across each of these initiatives, FMI commits to internal benchmarking and annual reporting to ensure consistent progress. GOOGLE: Google will launch new product features to help Americans access public food benefits and health care services. Google Search will facilitate SNAP enrollment by making it easier for users to find detailed and locally-specific information on how to check their eligibility and apply for SNAP benefits. Google will also update its search experience to enable Americans already enrolled in Medicare and Medicaid to find and schedule health care appointments directly within the Google Search tool. Finally, YouTube is launching a Personal Stories feature for sharing personal experiences on specific health topics. HUNGER FREE OKLAHOMA: Nonprofit organization Hunger Free Oklahoma will increase access to fresh produce by expanding its SNAP incentive program from 19 to all 77 counties in Oklahoma by 2030. This expanded program will serve 10 times the number of SNAP households it does now, ultimately reaching 100,000 households total per month. Hunger Free Oklahoma will also collaborate with Tribal Nations, state government, and the private sector to develop a new, coordinated WIC outreach and enrollment effort, with a commitment to increase WIC participation to 80 percent across the state – for a total of 125,000 women, infants, and children served. HY-VEE, INC: The supermarket chain Hy-Vee, Inc. BB #:101759 will deliver 30 million meals to vulnerable communities by 2025. The company will also deploy its in-store dietitians to educate 100,000 Americans in areas of low food access on healthy eating and nutrition by 2026. NATIONAL GROCERS ASSOCIATION (NGA): Over the next two years, the National Grocers Association BB #:163424 will expand access to full-service grocery stores – grocery stores that stock and sell fresh produce, meat, and dairy, in addition to processed and packaged goods – across the country. It will double the number of retailers offering SNAP Online, prioritizing rural areas and areas with low food access, such as agricultural communities. NGA will also build a toolkit to support its members expanding full-service grocery stores into USDA-designated food deserts. NATIONAL HEAD START ASSOCIATION (NHSA): The National Head Start Association commits to improving the health, nutrition, and economic security of young children and their families. Over the next three years, it will facilitate Head Start enrollment for roughly 100,000 children through the Department of Health & Human Service’s new SNAP eligibility pathway. Through this new pathway, NHSA will target technical assistance to programs serving populations and areas with the highest rates of food insecurity, and help state Head Start State Associations and Head Start State Collaboration Offices establish partnerships with SNAP offices to boost local enrollment. Separately, NHSA will launch a three-year research partnership with Tufts University’s Friedman School of Nutrition Science & Policy to conduct a national assessment of nutrition concerns for 3,000 Head Start Teachers to better understand the challenges early childhood teachers face. NAYAK FARMS: Nayak Farms, a 200-acre farm in Illinois, will work to combat food-insecurity in Illinois, Indiana, Missouri, and Iowa. This includes donating over 1,000,000 pounds of sweet corn to food-insecure families in those four states by 2026; donating 50,000 pounds of green beans to food-insecure families in 2023 and 2024; and champio...

Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) Crypto Price Prediction October 2022 Cryptonews
Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) Crypto Price Prediction October 2022 Cryptonews
Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) Crypto Price Prediction October 2022 – Cryptonews https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/terra-luna-classic-lunc-crypto-price-prediction-october-2022-cryptonews/ Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) shocks the crypto market once again as it pumps over 15% in the last 24 hours.  Shortly after pumping back up to $0.000296, LUNC retraced slightly down to $0.000279 and must now retest $0.00029.  Will Terra Luna Classic recover back to $0.00032 in October? LUNC is available on OKX. Moments before Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) broke out today I had warned members the price was about to do something special in my official discord channel. Terra Luna Classic had been trading within a bullish reversal pattern known as a broadening descending wedge.  This is formed when the price rallies and retraces within a descending wedge which has diverging resistance and support trendlines. Currently, LUNC is trading at $0.000282 but is still up by 9.11% since this morning. This could potentially be a short term retracement until we see more positive price continuation.  LUNC/BUSD – 4 Hour Time Frame. As we can see LUNC comfortably found support around the $0.000257 following the recent breakout due to the bullish news around Binance who will soon be integrating the 1.2% burning and taxing mechanics.  Whilst a rapacious breakout occured, LUNC didn’t quite hit the technical price target of $0.00033. It is now imperative that LUNC can hold the $0.00028 support level in order to prevent negative continuation to the downside and from entering the broadening wedge pattern once again.  Historically, October and November are strong months for the crypto markets, we could potentially see the entire market sentiment shift from extreme fear to neutrality or greed.  This would result in an uptrend for Bitcoin which should also drag altcoins such as Terra Luna Classic up with it. Even though LUNC has been in the limelight once again these past 24 hours, on the macroscale LUNC has still formed a lower high which is technically bearish.  I speculate that October we may see the price of LUNC chop between $0.000329 and $0.000257 LUNC Must Burn More Supply It is crucial that Terra Luna Classic continues to burn more of its ever so inflated supply of 6,151.07b tokens in order to see positive price action for the future.  Recently, more major centralized exchanges in the market such as Binance are onboarding the 1.2% tax burn and mechanics which is a great start.  Once we see more tier 1 and tier 2 centralized or decentralized exchanges follow in their footsteps, the supply of LUNC will come down. As we can see the last 30 days of burning for the total LUNC supply looks fantastic and is almost completely linear.  As exchanges bring in more trade volume for LUNC and if the Terra Luna Classic community is able to thrive with morale and confidence more LUNC tokens will be burnt.  According to Terrarity, it is predicted that in 5 years 8.436% of the total LUNC supply will be burnt. This is a total of 582,197,733,676 tokens compared to the 0.062% that has been burnt today. Terra Luna Classic (LUNC) Video Analysis  The crypto markets are still shaky and we are still plunging deeper into a crypto winter which could mean lower crypto prices in the near future.  I would remain risk averse when making decisions around throwing large sums of working capital into volatile tokens such as Terra Luna Classic (LUNC), which has recently been described as a ‘community based token’ For more of the latest crypto insights, signals and information around the next big crypto you can join my discord channel.

How To Get The Best Possible Price On A Holiday Flight In 2022 HerMoney
How To Get The Best Possible Price On A Holiday Flight In 2022 HerMoney
How To Get The Best Possible Price On A Holiday Flight In 2022 – HerMoney https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/how-to-get-the-best-possible-price-on-a-holiday-flight-in-2022-hermoney/ We’re all trying to plan our holiday travel, But sometimes the most expensive – and most stressful – part of the travel experience is finding the best (and cheapest) flight. In may cases, we can spend hours browsing flight deals and loading various routes and prices trying to assemble the best possible deal with the fewest layovers, and it can get tiresome fast. But how do we really score the best price possible? It starts by planning ahead. Let Your Budget Lead You A great way to get the best deals when flying is to plan your flight around your budget, rather than the reverse. This means that you’ll start researching flights before, not after, locking in your dates. By picking your dates first, you may end up paying higher prices just because you’re locked into a certain day or time that is more expensive.  If you can be flexible with your dates, you may just find a span of dates that has a much better price range, as in as much as a thousand dollars better, if you’re flying overseas. You still get where you want to go, but you’ll do so for less when you aren’t locked into a specific time frame.  Timing Matters There’s a lot of differing advice on the best days or times to fly, but generally the best rates can be found by avoiding flying on the weekends. There are exceptions, but weekends are usually more expensive. Again, flexibility is key here. If you are able to start your trip on a Tuesday or Wednesday rather than a Friday or Saturday and consider a redeye or early morning flights, you can get a better deal.  The best flights to catch if you are looking to save are mid-week flights. “Statistically, Tuesday and Wednesday flights will offer travelers the best deals on airfare. Taking the first or last flights of the day is also a great way for travelers to save money, as these times are less popular. The first flights of the day are also typically the ones that leave on time, so for travelers looking to stick to a strict schedule this is an ideal time to fly,” said Jeff Klee, CheapAir.com CEO. Turn On Incognito Mode On Your Browser Have you ever noticed that if as you continue to reload flight routes on the website of your airline of choice,  the prices sometimes keep changing in the wrong direction as you do? Although no airline has ever admitted to price gouging as people refresh the page, some bargain travel experts have theorized that airlines may do this on purpose, because they are trying to convey a sense of urgency. If prices are climbing, even slightly, then travelers are more likely to feel like it’s urgent to lock in that fare ASAP. But if you clear your cookies in your browser, make your browser private, or search for deals using incognito mode, airlines won’t know you’ve been there before. It’s at least worth a shot to see what happens   Plan Ahead Explore your options earlier, because the longer you wait, the more you may end up spending. “Our 2022 Domestic Airfare study found that the best day to buy flights is approximately 76 days out from your departure date. Another factor to consider, if you can plan ahead, is that the least expensive months to fly are January and February. This is likely due to the lack of travel demand after the holidays and before spring and summer vacation starts,” says Klee. Play With The Routes We all want to fly nonstop. That is always the most convenient, least stressful, and fastest way to get somewhere. But, it’s also usually the most expensive way to go. If you take some time to look at options with connecting flights, chances are you will find a better deal. You may also want to try looking at a selection of airlines, because your preferred airline may  not have the best deals available for those dates, on that specific route. Look Into Smaller Airports When we think of touching down in a destination, our minds immediately think of the larger airports in a city. Granted,  they have the greatest range of flight time and airline options. But smaller, local airports often are cheaper.  No, they won’t be your best option for you if it leaves you stuck with a much longer and more expensive commute to get to the airport, but it’s something to consider if you have a car, or a friend or family member who can serve as your personal airport shuttle. For example, I live in NYC. If  I find a deal at an airport upstate it won’t help me if I need to spend a few hundred dollars to get to the airport, but if you can get to a smaller regional airport with relative ease, this is the way to go. Consider Smaller Airlines This works for the same reason as smaller airports. Those regional airlines sometimes have promotions and better deals on similar routes to the more major airlines that we immediately think of. Use Price Watching Tools On sites like Kayak and Google, you can search travel for your dates, and then set a flight alert. “You’ll be notified as prices move up and down for your particular trip. Alerts will give you the opportunity to watch and book if you see a great deal pop up for your trip or you see prices creeping up and you don’t want to risk paying more,” says Clem Bason, General Manager of Travel at Snapcommerce. Use Miles or Points Obviously, holiday travel can be a great opportunity to cash on those miles you’ve accrued or credit card points toward a steeply discounted flight, a free flight, or even an upgrade. First class, you say? We’ll take it! It’s time to dig into those points you may have accrued on a credit card years ago, but just never cashed in, or maybe you even forgot about them. Make a thorough review of all your statements and see where you might be able to cash in. Even if you don’t have your full flight price covered, you may be able to save $200 or so, which you can then put towards spreading holiday joy in other ways (or, you know, saving.)  More On HerMoney: How To Use Your Points For Travel — The Right Way Ways To Save On Hotels That You Didn’t Know Existed The All-In Guide To Traveling For Less In 2022 First Class vs. Economy: Is The Splurge Worth It? Healthy Living And Mental Health Work Hand-In-Hand Review
Healthy Living And Mental Health Work Hand-In-Hand – Review https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/healthy-living-and-mental-health-work-hand-in-hand-review/ POLOKWANE – Fitness trainer and motivator Mthombeni Carin said healthy living means maintaining a healthy lifestyle and introducing new habits that will benefit you in the long run. Carin said a healthy lifestyle starts with a conscious decision which leads to small changes and developing habits such as eating healthier and being active. “There are many ways to describe fitness as it has a different meaning for every individual. It might mean being active on a daily basis for one person or being able to walk, swim or do chores without feeling fatigued for another,” she said. You might also want to read: Route to a more active you: Fitness questions answered Carin said eating healthy is paramount to the success of your fitness and this includes breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks in between. “By snacks, I mean healthy snacking. Water in-between meals is also very important.” She said one of the benefits that come with healthy living is positive thinking and satisfaction with seeing results because exercise releases ‘happy hormones’ such as dopamine and serotonin. “When you have a specific physical routine, you create order in your life and your way of thinking changes which leads to mental and physical benefits. It also creates discipline which is then transferred to other aspects of your life,” she said. Carin said there will be challenges and setbacks when starting a fitness journey but that doesn’t mean giving up. She offers fitness training and customized meal planning and can be contacted on 081 072 0620. For more breaking news follow us on Facebook Twitter Instagram or join our WhatsApp group

Is NFT Utility A Challenge? Learn How Cocky Is Setting New Standards Cryptonews
Is NFT Utility A Challenge? Learn How Cocky Is Setting New Standards – Cryptonews https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/is-nft-utility-a-challenge-learn-how-cocky-is-setting-new-standards-cryptonews/ Non-fungible tokens (NFTs) continue to attract special attention within the cryptocurrency sector, even though the initial hype surrounding them has subsided a little, and even though crypto continues to suffer its way through a bear market. After Collins Dictionary made non-fungible token its word of the year in 2021, the burgeoning NFT sub-sector continues to grow steadily, with trading volume still topping half a billion dollars per month. However, while NFTs still manage to sell for large sums, finding a genuine real-world use case for non-fungible tokens remains something of a conundrum. Musicians and bands have released albums in conjunction with limited-edition NFTs, while names such as Bored Ape Yacht Club are branching out into new areas, yet it’s arguable that non-fungible tokens have yet to find a ‘killer app’ that provides actual utility to their holders. This is a valid criticism, but it’s one that may not remain valid for much longer. Significant players within the music and gaming industries, for instance, are convinced that NFTs have a meaningful future within their sectors, and there’s one new player within the music and entertainment that serves as a good example of this. This is Cocky, a self-styled “lifestyle club” that uses NFTs to offer access to a variety of music events, both in-person and in virtual reality. By linking non-fungible tokens to the attendance of actual events, Cocky anchors them in the real world, ensuring that they will have value insofar as they refer to something other than themselves. What is Cocky and How Is It Linking NFTs to Music Events? Launched only a few months ago, Cocky aims to use NFTs in a variety of interesting ways in the context of live (and virtual) music events. At its most simple, Cocky will issue a collection of 10,000 NFTs based on the Ethereum blockchain. These NFTs will take the form of “visually stunning” cans (i.e. soft drink cans), as picture below. According to Cocky’s website, these cans will be based around 51 skin variations, which alter their basic designs and styles. Where things get interesting, however, is that these NFT-based cans will alter depending on the Cocky events holders attend. For instance, the cans will have one of three possible lids (black, silver and gold), which vary according to the user’s tier and which provide the holder with unique benefits at Cocky events. These lids are randomly assigned to NFTs, providing their holders with such perks as accommodation, subsidized transport and bar tabs. More interestingly, a user’s NFT receives ‘passport stamps’ when attending new events. The more events they attend, the more their can mutates, increasing its rarity and potentially increasing its value on the second-hand market. The combination of these mutations and randomly assigned lids/tiers will likely make buying Cocky NFTs on the secondary market more desirable to traders, since ownership would confer future benefits on holders, as well as enabling attendance of events. This is precisely where utility enters the picture, since holding a Cocky will become useful and valuable to its holder, enabling them to enjoy real-world experiences and obtain special VIP benefits while doing so. As for these experiences, Cocky’s website and Twitter reveal that these will be (at least for now) “world-class” electronic music events. It plans to stage anything from two to four in-person festivals or events each year, as well as more regular virtual events. With the virtual events, they will be streamed by Cocky on its own platform, whereas the physical events will take place at “spectacular locations across the globe.” None of these locations have been revealed yet, but Cocky is certainly promising big things by using the word “spectacular.” The Roadmap and Pre-Mint Sale Helpfully, Cocky has released its roadmap on its website, revealing that it will release the location — as well as open registration — for its first event in the final quarter of this year. This first event will then take place in the opening quarter of 2023, attendance of which will confer mutations onto the NFTs held by participants. As for actually obtaining Cocky’s NFTs in the first place, its pre-mint sale has just begun, with interested parties able to register via a visit to the platform’s official website. Overall, Cocky’s plans are certainly ambitious, with its roadmap and FAQ suggesting that Cocky is positioning itself as a kind of Bored Ape Yacht Club for music events. While it isn’t explicitly stated anywhere in the platform’s online materials, it’s likely that its events and NFTs will be aimed at the higher, more luxury end of the market, at least judging by its promise of beautiful locations around the world. This would mean that ownership of Cocky NFT could potentially provide ordinary holders with the opportunity to rub shoulders with a more ‘upmarket’ demographic. Needless to say, time will obviously tell whether the rich and/or famous will go for Cocky’s NFTs, as they did with BAYC. Assuming that Cocky can secure good lineups for its music events and good facilities, there’s every chance it will attract a decent crowd and community. If this does turn out to be the case, then its NFTs could end up becoming valuable, since they will grant entry into a world where music lovers can enjoy singular experiences and meet likeminded people. The Future of NFTs In other words, Cocky’s events will help non-fungible tokens become more than a nice digital collectible to have in your possession. And this is something that NFTs have been trying to evolve beyond for a couple of years now, despite the initial hype. Encouragingly, there are other indications that NFTs may start offering some genuine value to their holders, beyond speculation. This is evident in the use gaming developers and publishers are aiming to make of non-fungible tokens, while it’s also evident in crypto-native projects such as Bored Ape Yacht Club moving into the metaverse. It will take some time to things to mature the point where NFTs make a valuable contribution to their holders’ lives, yet it’s clear now that the industry is well aware that it needs to do more than simply offer a promising vehicle for speculation. And with Cocky’s plans to attach NFTs to real-world events, it seems that it has begun to do just that.

Cineworld and Cineplex have been locked in a multimillion-dollar legal battle since the London-listed company rescinded its offer to buy Cineplex more than two years ago. Cineworld has since been struggling to rein in massive debt and this month filed for bankruptcy in the United States. Debt taken on by Cineworld to survive a pandemic-driven delcine in footfall, along with previous loans to fund part of its $3.6 billion purchase of Regal in 2017 to create the world’s second-largest movie theatre chain, left the British company struggling to stay afloat. Its net debt, including lease liabilities of about $4 billion, stood at $8.9 billion at the end of 2021. The company’s market value at Tuesday’s market close was about 37 million pounds ($39.5 million). EXCLUSIVE Vietnam Preparing Rules To Limit News Posts On Social Media Accounts – Sources – Reuters https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/exclusive-vietnam-preparing-rules-to-limit-news-posts-on-social-media-accounts-sources-reuters/ SINGAPORE/HANOI, Sept 28 (Reuters) – Vietnam is preparing new rules to limit which social media accounts can post news-related content, three people familiar with the matter said, as authorities tighten their control over news and information sources in the country. The rules, expected to be announced by the year-end and with details yet to be hammered out, would establish a legal basis for controlling news dissemination on platforms like Facebook and YouTube while placing a significant moderation burden on platform providers, two of the sources added. The sources asked not to be identified, as discussions about the new rules remain confidential. Register now for FREE unlimited access to Reuters.com Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications and Ministry of Foreign Affairs did not immediately respond to requests for comment. “The government wants to fix what it sees as the ‘news-lisation’ of social media,” said one source familiar with the talks. “News-lisation”, or báo hoá, is a term used by the authorities to describe the misleading of users into thinking that social media accounts are authorised news outlets. Government officials have been holding confidential meetings with popular social media and internet firms to brief them on which types of accounts will be allowed to post news content under the new rules, according to the sources. Authorities would be able to order social media companies to ban accounts that break those rules, they said. Vietnam’s ruling Communist Party already maintains tight media censorship and tolerates little dissent, with one of the world’s most stringent internet regimes and national guidelines on social media behaviour. Two sources with direct knowledge told Reuters that more rules on internet and social media platforms would be introduced around the fourth quarter of 2022 to early 2023. As tech-savvy young Vietnamese increasingly turn to social media for information, those platforms have become a target for government efforts to restrict the flow of news from unauthorised sources. Vietnam is a top-10 market globally for Facebook with 60 million to 70 million users, according to 2021 data, and sources familiar with the matter said it generates around $1 billion in annual revenue for the company – surpassing France. YouTube has 60 million users in Vietnam and TikTok has 20 million, according to 2021 government estimates, although Twitter remains a relatively small player. Meta Platforms Inc (META.O), owner of Facebook, and Twitter Inc (TWTR.N) declined to comment. Alphabet Inc’s Google and YouTube did not respond to requests for comment. TikTok said in a statement that it addresses content violations based on applicable laws and with adherence to its guidelines, but did not comment on pending Vietnam regulations. The Vietnamese government had adopted in July a set of non-binding guidelines on what qualifies as news outlets, including criteria to distinguish “real” and “fake” news outlets, warning that some social networking sites include accounts that mislead users into thinking they are newspapers. Those guidelines are expected to be incorporated into the new rules, which will be binding. The authorities are also expected to implement new rules that would require social media platforms to immediately take down content deemed to harm national security, and to remove illegal content within 24 hours, sources familiar with the matter said. Sources told Reuters in April that the new rules, which were originally planned for July, reflected the government’s dissatisfaction with social media platforms’ take-down rates. read more This will be done through amendments to the country’s main internet law. Vietnam in August also issued a new regulation, due to come into effect from October, that will require technology firms to store users’ data locally and to set up local offices. ‘Let The Kids Be Kids And You Be A Kid Along With Them.’ Why You Should Take A Trip With Just Your Grandchildren. – Morningstar https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/let-the-kids-be-kids-and-you-be-a-kid-along-with-them-why-you-should-take-a-trip-with-just-your-grandchildren-morningstar/ By Jenny Wisniewski Imagine enjoying your relationship with your grandchildren in a way that might not be possible with their parents around This article is reprinted by permission from NextAvenue.org. When Margie Jordan took her first Disney (DIS) cruise alone with one of her five grandchildren, she jumped into every kid-centered activity her 12-year-old granddaughter desired — until it came time for the AquaDuck. The waterslide required passing through a sheet of cascading water at the end. She wasn’t thrilled with the idea of getting drenched and having to bother with her hair once again. After both her granddaughter and a Disney employee convinced her that she wouldn’t get “that wet,” Jordan, of Jacksonville, Florida, relented. “Well, I got soaked, and we both came down laughing hysterically,” Jordan said. And just like that, a memory was made. Vacations like Jordan’s are having a moment. While families continue to enjoy multigenerational vacations, which usually include children, parents and grandparents, duo-generational trips are gaining in popularity. This sort of trip might look like Jordan’s — a grandparent or set of grandparents traveling with one or more grandchildren. In other cases, older adults travel with their adult children, leaving the grandkids behind. Regardless of the combination of family members, it is clear that the separations and tragedies caused by the pandemic have fueled a desire to spend quality time bonding on a more intimate level. Also read: 8 rules to help your kids or grandkids succeed in college Disney cruising with tweens Jordan wasn’t done cruising. After the first trip with her granddaughter, her next oldest grandchild wanted to get in on the action, so Jordan embarked on her second Disney cruise, this time with both of the eldest grandchildren. “I tell you, the thing that was the best for me was getting to just spend time with them without their parents,” Jordan said. “We’re enjoying it so much that now, when we talk about taking another cruise — because the third grandson just turned 12, so now it’s his turn to join this little cruise thing that we’ve got going on — none of them, not one of them wants a parent to come,” Jordan said. The dynamics change when the trip is multigenerational, Jordan has come to realize. If her two daughters came along, her time and attention would be split. She can nurture her relationship with “her grands” in a way that would probably not be possible with their parents present. When not cruising with her grandkids, Jordan plans trips for others as a travel agent and the owner of Jordan Executive Travel Service, based in Jacksonville. She has advice for other grandparents planning a two-generation trip. First, she recommends waiting until the grandkids are 11 or 12. She also advises that grandparents consider their grandchildren’s interests and book the trip around that. “The trip is about them and all the things that make them amazing. So figure out what their interests are and book the trip around that,” Jordan said. “Let the kids be kids and you be a kid along with them.” You might like:6 lessons I learned from growing up with my grandparents — and great-grandparents Celebrating special occasions with teens Angie Rice, co-founder of Boutique Travel Advisors based in Paradise Valley, Arizona, is also seeing a significant increase in duo-generational travel. She agrees that waiting until kids reach their tween or teen years is important when planning a grandparent-grandchild vacation. “When the kids are little, it’s just a bigger undertaking for the grandparents to take smaller kids, and it’s also hard for the kids to be away from their parents,” Rice said. Giving the gift of travel to commemorate a birthday or graduation has become a part of the trend. Rice planned one trip for a set of grandparents who took their high school and college-age grandkids on a Mediterranean cruise followed up with several days in Rome. The trip was a joint graduation gift for the six cousins. In many cases, parents are unable to take time off from work for this type of extended trip. It also provides the grandparents more autonomy with their grandkids. Another reason for an increase in grandchildren — grandparent travel: the middle generation needs a break. “I think that they (the parents) were in their homes, raising kids 24/7 throughout the pandemic. It could be that the adult children are expressing the need (for a break) to their parents. So I almost think it is happening out of a combination of want and also perhaps need,” Rice said. Travel for landlubbers Aside from cruises, certain types of trips lend themselves to duo-generational travel. All-inclusive resorts in Mexico or the Caribbean are good options, Rice said. If travelers prefer to remain in the country, dude ranches are also conducive to this type of vacation. Flathead Lake Lodge in Bigfork, Montana is one such place. The all-inclusive, 2,000-acre dude ranch is located on the shores of Flathead Lake just 45 miles from Glacier National Park. It offers visitors a “historic, stuck-in-time kind of experience” that appeals to grandparents, said Chase Averill, general manager and third generation member of the family-owned business. In many cases, grandparents have memories of coming to the lodge as a child, or even with their own children. They want to share the experiences that they look back on so fondly with their grandchildren. In addition, Flathead Lake Lodge offers a vast array of activities. It is common for the kids to go in one direction and adults to go in another so that they can participate in the activities that suit their interests and abilities. The kids might ride horses, participate in water sports and mountain bike while their grandparents take a tour through the lodge’s elk preserve or sail aboard one of the historic sailboats, built in 1928 and 1929 for America’s Cup. At night, everyone comes together for a planned activity such as a steak fry or barn dance. Check out:Looking to unplug? Here are 12 peaceful towns great for going off the grid Travel for the adults A dude ranch like Flathead Lake Lodge also appeals to older adults traveling with their adult children. Averill saw a surge in this travel dynamic during the pandemic. During the summer of 2020, families that had traveled to Flathead Lake Lodge didn’t want to leave. They were able to easily maintain social distancing because of the expanse of the property and still enjoy their family members. For some, it became a retreat from a tumultuous world. A number of these travelers returned for a second trip in the fall, this time bringing their older parents and leaving the kids behind. Many have continued this pattern since. Phoebe Knight, a Missoula, Montana resident, has been vacationing at Flathead Lake Lodge with her sisters and their 93-year-old father, even longer. The tradition began with a stay at the lodge 18 years ago to celebrate his 75th birthday. Knight values this time with her father, who lives in Cos Cob, Connecticut, over 2,000 miles away. “My dad was a Navy man and loves to sail,” Knight said. “That’s his thing and the lodge has two beautiful antique sailboats that he can go out and sail. And while we’re sailing, he’s telling me stories of his time in the Navy. I just think it’s irreplaceable. It’s been absolutely amazing.” Rice plans trips for older adults and their adult children, too. Recently, she put together a trip for an older adult couple along with their two adult children and spouses. Leaving their minor children behind, they took a river cruise on the Douro River in Portugal. The grandmother frequently helps out with the grandchildren, and this was a chance for her adult children to say thank you and spend quality time alone. And where did the grandchildren stay while their parents and grandparents were cruising? Several stayed with the other set of grandparents. In a way, it became like two family reunions going on at the same time, Rice observed. Not everyone is so fortunate to have another set of grandparents available to help out. In cases like these, Rice recommends using opportunities like summer camp to plan a two-generation, adults-only trip. Don’t miss:Live it up now: The pleasure we get from spending declines as we age As for Margie Jordan, the Disney-cruising grandma, she’s decided it’s time to plan a trip with her two daughters, leaving the grandchildren behind. Like many families, their mind-set shifted with the pandemic. “I think the pandemic really kind of shook a lot of people up. People that were here a couple of years ago aren’t with us today,” Jordan said. “People are just not willing to let any more time pass without enjoying their family members in some kind of way. It’s the thing that you always wanted to do or that you thought you were going to do. And you say ‘we’re going to plan it one day.’ Well, one day is now.” Jenny Wisniewski is a freelance writer based in Milwaukee. She writes about elder care, the environment and travel. Mitchell Booth, Founder Of Love Whole Foods In Ormond Beach, Dies – Daytona Beach News-Journal https://dentoncountynewsonline.com/mitchell-booth-founder-of-love-whole-foods-in-ormond-beach-dies-daytona-beach-news-journal/ ORMOND BEACH — Mitchell Booth, founder of the Love Whole Foods Cafe & Market stores in Ormond Beach and Port Orange, died unexpectedly of a sudden illness Sept. 23, his family confirmed. “Mitch lived the life he preached,” said his widow, Paula Schandel. “We lost a tremendous heart and a tremendous light in our community.” Booth, 73, opened his first Love Whole Foods store in The Trails Shopping Center in Ormond Beach in 1991 with his then-wife, the late Anita Booth who died in 2006. The couple were former photojournalists who worked for the Hartford Courant newspaper in Hartford, Connecticut, prior to moving to the Daytona Beach area. Booth who went by the nickname “Mitch” also worked as a photojournalist for the Detroit Free Press. He grew up in Detroit and graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in fine arts. He left the journalism field when he got hired by Traveler’s Insurance to become the company’s corporate photographer. That job had him flying all over the country to take photos of catastrophes, including fires, floods and areas damaged by hurricanes, as well as various corporate events. Booth and his first wife became fans of a natural food store chain in the New England area called Bread & Circus. That inspired them to open Love Whole Foods when they moved to Florida. The growing business for the health food store prompted the couple to relocate their Ormond Beach store to its present location on the corner of Williamson Boulevard and Hand Avenue on Sept. 1, 2001.  A second location for Love Whole Foods opened in Port Orange, near the intersection of Williamson and Taylor Road in 2011. LOOKING BACK: Love Whole Foods founder comments on area’s grocery store wars THUMBS UP: Local health food store gets high marks from TripAdvisor COMPETITION HEATS UP: ‘Natural food’ stores starting to proliferate locally ‘Invest in your health one bite at a time’ Booth was proud of the fact that his stores lived up to their name of offering truly whole foods and wellness products. “We’re the largest organic, contaminate-free, local family-owned full-service grocery store in Volusia-Flagler if you combine our two stores,” he said in a 2019 interview. Booth’s passion for health foods and healthy living was also evident in another interview he gave to The News-Journal four years earlier. “The best health insurance is making sure your food is the healthiest you can get. You invest in your health one bite at a time,” he said. One way Love Whole Foods differentiated itself from the big grocery chains, Booth said, was by standing by the principles he and his first wife established when they began their business. Those standards, he said, included a commitment to only sell natural and organic food that is free of “artificial additives and mystery ingredients” and a willingness to verify to customers “the integrity of our suppliers and (that) the food we sell will not be irradiated or bio-engineered. “They (the big grocery chains) are primarily about marketing and driven by corporate standards, whereas we are a local family-run business, which has been investing not only money into our communities’ schools and local farms but also time and energy in educational seminars free to the public.” ‘Lived his life wanting to help people’ Paula Schandel said of her husband, “He had the biggest heart of anybody I’d ever met. He lived his life wanting to help people.” Paula Schandel said the family-run business will carry on, led by Booth’s son, Mark Van Cleef, and daughter-in-law, Peggy Van Cleef. “Last week, we lost a great man and a great friend,” said longtime friend and customer Jenni Craig, who was a childhood friend of Booth’s daughter Capt. Laura Warner of Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue. Craig is one of the owners of Copper Bottom Craft Distillery in Holly Hill along with her husband and in-laws. “Mitch was generous and kind, and his knowledge healed so many lives in our community. I treasure the memories and everything he taught me.”   In addition to Schandel, the Van Cleefs, and Warner, Mitchell Booth is also survived by his two sisters, Joannie and Julie Booth, as well as his and his wife’s son Paul Schandel, who works for Foundation Risk Partners. He is also survived by six grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, Paula Schandel said she and her family requests donations in Booth’s memory to the Vietnam Veterans of Volusia County and the Tunnels to Towers Foundation. The latter is a nonprofit that provides mortgage-free homes to Gold Star and fallen first-responder families with young children.
