Facing cringey reasons
Facing cringey reasons
Sometimes just knowing your cringey reasons is half the battle, other times it’s the whole battle, or only one tenth. But the humility in facing them is worth the pain. Coming up from the depths to cringe, then troubleshoot, isn’t avoidant — it’s responsible.

Your behind beliefs might not be accurate, and anyways — who can feel motivated to run a race they’ve already lost?

Don’t “clarify” your values
Don’t “clarify” your values
You can dream up any combination of dishes - values — that you like…but that doesn’t mean the restaurant — actual world — will serve them to you. something to appreciate about both spontaneity and routine, something to appreciate about both striving and settling, something to appreciate about novelty and familiarity. Values necessarily emerge from the bottom up, in an illegible patchwork that exceeds anything we could ever design.

Questioning therapy’s perpetual present
Questioning therapy’s perpetual present
For these patients, the therapeutic womb and its perpetual present can be a blessed gift, an investment that makes extension into the future possible again... a bit later. But most of us are not so tightly past-bound. Instead, our past tethers us with loose reins, or we hold the past lightly in one hand as we reach towards the future with the other. Future-oriented clients may not be best-served by even friendly and warm invitations to wallow in the present.

How to deal with mildly compulsive behavior

Do any of them attend to your emotional and other needs better than what you're currently doing?
