I stop and take pictures on my phone and neither post them anywhere nor show anyone. ​ I was grateful I never found out one way or another. I cherish the opportunity to drop in, and let my imagination do the rest of the work. ​ There are shades of truth in all of these answers, but I think the real answer is nothing.

Insane wealth doesn’t insulate children from the harshness of the world around them. Just because you’re rich doesn’t mean your life is going to be good, or even easy. The key to making any relationship last is making an effort. What does making an effort look like? Remembering things about people, reaching out to them regularly, letting them know you care. I’ve become a big fan of phone calls.

I’d never considered that adaptation was a serious option, until we started talking about it like it was a tangible problem and not a nebulous threat. Trying to find a pathway towards the source of pain is a lot more empowering than pouring your energy into being bitter over someone else’s success.

Tied up in patience is also setting healthy boundaries, and sometimes impatience is an expression of enforcing those boundaries.
