RTCCs gather and track massive amounts of surveillance and police data including public and privately-owned surveillance feeds, scans of every license plate to pass in front of a police camera, other police databases, and communication systems into one centralized cloud-based center. RTCC companies claim this technology lets police “anticipate and prevent crimes before they occur.” We all know what that means – more harassment and biased policing of Black, Brown and people of color communities, of sex workers and unhoused folks.
