Production Type is a digital type design agency. Our activities span from the exclusive online distribution of retail type for design professionals, to the creation of custom typefaces for the industrial, luxury, and media sectors.

Out Of The Dark is a Zurich based type foundry run by Philipp Herrmann. The type designers represented on Out of the Dark are mainly active in the field of graphic design — knowing what it needs for striking contemporary designs. Out of the Dark offers varied and thoughtful retail typefaces for print, web and mobile environments. All fonts are sold exclusively through this website.

In 2009, Thomas co-founded Stockholm-based design agency Kurppa Hosk. We chat to him about a recent project designing the identity for the universal platform for sign language, and his experiments with typography.

Remarkable 16th century botanical calligraphic artwork by Georg Bocskay (1510–1575) & Joris Hoefnagel (1542–1601). First created by Bocskay to demonstrated the different styles of calligraphy of the era, the book was later ornamented with intricate fruits, flowers, and insects by Hoefnage. This unusual artistic collaboration disrupted the history of manuscript illumination and gave us one of the most fascinating manuscripts. We have digitally enhanced these spellbound hand-drawn calligraphy. They are free to download under the CC0 license for your designs, posters, and wallpapers.
