Designing an app-based service from scratch to help bird owners customise their ideal feed. In 2020, I hatched 6 Chinese painted quail chicks in my London flat. It was something I’d planned meticulously—perfecting the incubation, setting up ideal habitats, and even filling their water dishes with marbles so they couldn't fall in. However, there was one element I couldn't nail… the feed.

No plan survives contact with the enemy: How we moved to a new payment service
For me, January of this year was not only a series of holidays, but also an occasion to celebrate one year since we completed our transition to a new payment gateway. As a perfume subscription service, this is a critical system, and if it has problems, then this affects everyone

Chris Rushing — A new brand for a new era
Chris Rushing — A new brand for a new era
Twenty plus year ago, GoDaddy started selling domain names to help folks establish an online presence. Since then, the internet has changed entrepreneurship forever, and we’ve evolved way beyond just domains. Now we empower everyday entrepreneurs with all the help and tools they need to grow online, and our brand needed to reflect our commitment to entrepreneurs everywhere. To focus our thinking, we developed our Design Ethos, a guiding principle built on four core tenets (Good Design for All, Humanity + Technology, Thoughtfully Creative, Inspire Joy). The work that’s resulted from this design system has consistently resonated with everyday entrepreneurs, demonstrating we’re in their corner while giving them the energy to create.

Paper · App Dissection
Paper by Facebook has been out for a day now and the reviews are, for the most part, quite divided. I haven’t been an avid Facebook user for some time, but the design and attention to detail on Paper is unmatched, and is worth sharing with other designers. The Design Details for Twitter post I wrote yesterday received some great feedback, so I thought I’d quickly compile some of my favorite interactions in Paper!
