I want to tell you about an idea that has had a huge influence on the way that I write software. And I mean that in the literal sense: it’s changed the way that I write software; it’s re-shaped my development workflow. The idea is this: you can write programs that modify themselves. And I don’t mean macros or metaprogramming or anything fancy like that. I mean that you can write programs that edit their own source code.

Object Pascal is a modern, readable, fast, type-safe, cross-platform OOP programming language. It is also easy to pick up.

Two universal facts about user documentation: Documentation is really important. We are really bad at writing it. We don’t have good theories on what makes for useful documentation. That is except for the four document model, or Diátaxis.1 I’m glad that people use it. I’m also a little frustrated that people use it even when its inappropriate.
