The UI design of Rogue One
From design firm Blind Ltd, the user interface graphics they did for Rogue One. They had some graphics from the original Star Wars to play off of, but this is still really nice work. Blind also did onscreen interfa

Reconsidering Star Wars IV in the light of I-III [I originally wrote this piece in 2005 and a friend posted it on his website. That site has recently gone down, so I'm reposting it here, as it still gets a lot of interest.] If we accept all the Star Wars films as the same canon (as it seems we…

Billy Jensen - Storytelling, Product Building, Crime Solving, Money Making
He was the man who could have been Solo. I have always been intrigued by BoShek. When Ben Kenobi enters the cantina on Mos Eisley looking for a pilot to take himself, the boy and two droids to Alderaan, his first choice is a smuggler sporting arched eyebrows, killer muttonchops, and a black and white space suit more akin to an astronaut than a fighter pilot. Detecting Star Wars objects with YOLO v4 :: Roberto Vaccari
YOLO means “You only look once” and it’s an algorithm for real-time object recognition. This is a picture of my desk and I’ve trained the algorithm to detect three types of objects: K-2SO units, Darth Vaders and Tie Fighters. In this post I’m going to describe what I did and what to expect if you want to do something similar. Installing Darknet (Windows) Darknet is an open source neural network framework written in C and CUDA and it includes a YOLO implementation.

Each year, 99% Invisible producers select short design stories to talk about with host Roman Mars. Some of these were just too brief to make into full 99pi episodes, but many also reveal aspects of how we find ideas for (and ultimately make) the show. In this collection, we’ll talk about everything from movie novelizations

How ‘The Mandalorian’ and ILM invisibly reinvented film and TV production | TechCrunch
“The Mandalorian” was a pretty good show. On that most people seem to agree. But while a successful live-action Star Wars TV series is important in its own right, the way this particular show was made represents a far greater change, perhaps the most important since the green screen. The cutting edge tech (literally) behind […]
